Stereo Review - Inman Park - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Stereo is the sexy upgrade of what used to be Victory Coffee and Calamity in Inman Park, and it's the perfect place to start and end your day. In the daylight hours, it’s a coffee spot specializing in espressos. By night, it transforms into a moody, vintage listening lounge. Modish leather couches and chairs sit in the middle of the room, occupied by neighborhood locals who talk about the Napster era in between songs. In case the name wasn’t a tip-off, a permanent DJ table at the back of the bar and records on every wall further solidifies that music is the theme. A rotating guest DJ selects the nights’ soundtrack and plays the music loud enough to keep the energy up but soft enough to allow for conversation. And the easy-to-sip cocktails (named after One Piece characters and featuring a variety of Japanese whiskey options) ensure Stereo hits all the right notes for your night out." - Juli Horsford

This is a nice underground club with a great apace and incredible sound system. Having said that it's heavily shirtless (if you're into that scene), the staff is not friendly, they will take away any gum you have on you, and they don't serve alcohol (you can't bring your own). There's a really fun dive-karaoke bar around the corner, lots of fun.

I'm not really into electronic music, but I went with a group of friends. The service at the door wasn't very nice. Even though we had reserved 8 tickets, the doorman was in a bad mood and annoyed because we were all waiting to get in together. The man checking people in at the next entrance after going up the stairs in front of the clothing store yelled at us to say no jackets. Later, it became clear that jackets weren't required inside. The atmosphere was pleasant. Another interesting fact, and no less important for the reviews, is that THEY DON'T ALLOW YOU TO TAKE PHOTOS, MUCH LESS THAN VIDEOS! 🙄 REALLY??? What kind of nightclub in 2025 doesn't allow this? Well, here's an example. If you use it, they'll kick you out. There's a sign that we didn't see at the entrance in front of the stairs because you're looking where you're stepping and not up (bad choice by the owner). Paying $75 per person and not being able to enjoy yourself the way you want. I didn't like it and I DON'T RECOMMEND IT. Too expensive to have your head buzzing and not be able to take souvenirs with your friends because they kick you out. But here's a part of the video we were able to capture. 🤪🤭

Stereo Nightclub in Montreal is widely considered one of the premier nightlife destinations in the city, and for good reason. Located in the heart of downtown, this underground haven is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience world-class electronic music in an intimate and high-energy environment. Here’s an in-depth look at what makes Stereo so exceptional. Atmosphere & Design From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere of Stereo is electric. The club has an industrial yet sleek design, featuring minimalist decor with a focus on functionality and comfort. The dimly lit space creates an inviting vibe, and the layout is spacious, with multiple levels and areas to enjoy the music. The dance floor is the heart of the venue, but there are also cozy alcoves and a VIP section for those who prefer a more private experience. The overall ambiance feels exclusive yet welcoming, which adds to its allure. Sound System One of the standout features of Stereo Nightclub is its world-renowned Funktion-One sound system. It’s no exaggeration to say that the sound quality is among the best you’ll experience at any nightclub. The deep bass, crystal-clear highs, and rich mid-range frequencies create an immersive audio experience that perfectly complements the deep, driving beats of the music. Whether you’re on the dance floor or in a more relaxed spot, the sound is impeccable, surrounding you and drawing you into the rhythm of the night. Music & DJs Stereo Nightclub is first and foremost a venue for music lovers, and they are committed to providing top-notch performances from both local and international DJs. The programming focuses primarily on house, techno, and other forms of underground electronic music, attracting some of the most respected names in the industry. The lineup regularly includes high-profile headliners, but the club also showcases local talent, which helps support Montreal’s vibrant electronic music scene. The club is known for its intimate vibe, allowing fans to get up close to the DJ booth and experience the music in an authentic, unfiltered way. The energy of the crowd is contagious, and it’s not unusual for people to dance from the start of the night until the early morning hours, lost in the rhythm of the beats. Staff & Service The staff at Stereo Nightclub is efficient, friendly, and professional. From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel taken care of. The door staff is welcoming, and security is discreet, ensuring a safe environment without being intrusive. The bartenders are quick and knowledgeable, and the service is consistently top-tier throughout the night. The VIP experience is also well-curated, with dedicated staff ensuring that guests have everything they need for a comfortable and memorable evening. Crowd & Vibe One of the best things about Stereo is the crowd. It attracts a diverse group of people who share a love for underground electronic music. The crowd is respectful, passionate about the music, and there’s a sense of camaraderie among the club-goers. It’s a judgment-free zone where people come to dance, enjoy great music, and let loose. The energy is always high, and you can expect a vibrant, dynamic atmosphere that keeps you going throughout the night. Location & Accessibility Stereo Nightclub is conveniently located in downtown Montreal, making it easily accessible by public transportation or taxi. The venue is situated in a more industrial part of the city, which adds to its underground charm. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, it’s easy to get to and from the club, and you’ll find plenty of options for after-hours dining or coffee spots nearby to wind down. Overall Experience Stereo Nightclub is a unique and exceptional venue that offers an unparalleled nightlife experience in Montreal. With its unmatched sound system, world-class music programming, professional staff, and vibrant crowd, it’s clear why this club has earned a legendary reputation within the city’s nightlife scene. Whether you're a fan of deep house, techno, or just looking for an unforgettable night out,

If not the, one of the best sound systems I have experienced while clubbing. The space is great – clean, comfortable couches and staff is super friendly. I really appreciate the no photo and no video policy – it really keeps the vibe of clubbing which I love. If you love house/techno music, it is a must at least once in your lifetime. I traveled from Long Island, New York and it was worth it. Thank you Stereo for a magical experience.

I just want to share our experience at Stereo. We went to the Bob Sinclar day event. The Sound and lighting did not disappoint! Incredible!!! What really blew us away was how we were treated! My son recently turned 18 and he is on the Autism spectrum (and lets say that it is noticeable) The staff were so amazing with him. The woman security at the door was an absolute Gem! Inside there was a tall, bald security guy who would come and check in to see how we were doing and that if we needed any assistance to let him know. We were just blown away by their caring, inclusiveness! We also met many great, friendly people as well. A really nice family vibe there! Much love Stereo fam!!

Upon entry bags were searched and I was told I couldn't bring in my roller perfume that was literally 15ml. Whatever, I complied didn't really care, then they put a sticker with my initials and had me take a photo of it to show them when I left. Long story short they lost it or gave it to someone else. Staff forwarded me to the owner Chris who ASSURED and PROMISED me that I would be compensated, because the venue literally confiscated and then lost my property. After replying to one email from me Chris, the owner, said the staff had found it which was such a blatant lie and then continued to completely ghost me after I asked for proof of a photo. Do not support a venue who lies and loses peoples property after they paid $50 for a night. What a joke.

Was very much looking forward to my first visit. The hype was not justified. Sound quality didn't stand out as amazing. No complaints on overall acoustics but other clubs are on par with Stereo. The layout was not favorable and was my main issue. The crowd was OK but other clubs had better vibes and on this particular night, it seemed the PDA was on overload 😅. Honestly, the Brooklyn Mirage, and other locations like History in Toronto service the EDM community more appropriately. Decent club here but not high end, nor a must see.

Google
Make sure you check who is playing when you go. If you go see your favorite DJ, you will love it. Most of the negative reviews are related to people simply not knowing who’s playing and them being mad about it. Sound system, mint, dance floor, mint, crowd, outstanding. If someone you like is going to play here, go.

Yelp
Crazy night dancing until 5AM. First, my friends and I go around 10PM to the basement seems to have less people and mostly student. Surprisingly, bouncer is very nice and protecting our group until the basement section close around 2AM. Then we meet new friends that bring us to next building. This time we go up to upper level that has bigger room and variety of people and ages. Music is ok. Drinks at this dancing club are not that great and watery but as you expect we come here to dance so we don't really care. I don't know what time they close but we get out around 5 in the morning.

Yelp
Stereo has dominated Montreal nightlife for over a decade. That doesn't happen over night. It happens over many, many unforgettable nights. To put it another way... They're bigger and bolder and rougher and tougher. In other words, sucker, there is no other. Wanna kiss myself!

Yelp
Love, love, love. This club is made for dancing! The sound system is best in class, and the dance floor has a little bit of "give" for all-night dancing. At the same time, there is ample space to sit and lean back if you want a break. No alcohol served but tons of drink options, including coffee and vitamin water. There are also handy vending machines. I found the bartenders to be quick and nice. Non-douche-y crowd, as well. Respectful and devoted crowd. Only bummer is the prison-like toilet seats, which have no seats. Not great if you're not in the mood to squat. I look forward to coming back!

Yelp
Reading some of the negative reviews of this place is honestly hilarious; a whole lot of people who clearly don't belong at a techno after hours and are entering not knowing why they're there. It's like showing up at a line dancing club and being upset they are playing country music. look, if you're unfamiliar with this culture, if you have never experienced being in the same room with someone on drugs before, if you're not well aware that bylaws prevent the sale of alcohol after 3am, or consider that operating such a venue is going to be costly and some of those costs are going to be handed down to the consumer - then yes, obviously don't go. Save yourself the $50 and the typing you'll have to do on a 1 star review later. This is not a venue where a site like Yelp is going to be of much use to you. If you're going here because you're aware of the reputation of this place for audiophile-quality sound, and enjoy underground dance music culture then you're going to have a good time. If you're only showing up because you're a tourist who is looking at a list of clubs and you see this one has some attention, it's probably best to steer clear. this type of thing isn't for everybody. it's mainly going to be big room techno, a genre that offers limited thrills to many of the uninitiated. if you already know you like this music, you'll be good. Stereo absolutely does live up to the hype in terms of its famous sound system, and it's a thoughtfully laid out club, and a fun, safe (honestly the people who feel unsafe are people unused to after hours dance party culture/seeing otherwise harmless people on drugs etc.) place to dance. However, a place like this is never going to have the romantic DIY underground appeal of a TBA warehouse party, or some european clubs, and as such is a little soulless and pulls a wealthier downtown crowd who are a little soulless themselves. Definitely a feast for the ears but I struggle to imagine having your absolute best dance floor memories at a place like this.

Yelp
The best dance club of all time!! It is like the "Studio 54" of Montreal! Good looking people; talented dancers; performers and the best DJ TALENT In North America! Angel Moraes' sound design with his miraculous BASS sound creations along with past residents like DJ David Morales and DJ Mark Anthony made this EXCELLENT dance Club what is today! Circa 2000-2001. I plan to be back soon to revisit!

Yelp
The crowd and the music have gone waaay downhill. And the $25 cover charge is excessive for what this club is. It has also turned into a mostly gay club over the years, whereas in the past it was always a mixed crowd. Pass!

Yelp
To start off let me just say You can totally come here even if you're not hopped up on drugs. I personally don't use anything like molly or whatever else gets people all hyped up but I can tell you that I was able to dance and have a great time here without any drug use and partial drunkness (not a word but you get it). On the topic of drunk, they do not serve alcohol seeing as law won't allow them to anyways so just keep that in mind before going. Entrance fee is $30 and club opens at 2am Staff there are well organized and super friendly, major shoutout to them because that is so rare to find I also felt really safe, not sure why anyone would say otherwise...the security here literally reminded me of an airport or court security. They're friendly but safety is their top concern and it shows. Crowd: A lot of gay guys (obviously, it's in gay village) but straight/bi ladies don't worry, there's lots of straight guys there too. There's so weird shit that goes down at after hours clubs so if you have a Stick up your ass then maybe not the place for you Music: techno. I don't listen to techno music too often but I was dancing and enjoying the music

Nikolai T.

Yelp
Great house music palace! Can't fathom some of the negative reviews. True techno/house heads will certainly enjoy!

Yelp
The reason for my trip to Montreal was not a disappointment. I'm a Techno Head. I love the layered beats, the evolution from song to song, and it's ability to make your brain tricked into transcendence. Back in DC we have a few good spaces for this experience, but nothing like Stereo. When I had to opportunity to visit Montreal, I knew this had to be on my list. I went for New Years Eve/Day, and was amazed at what I found. First, their coat check is so efficient and an amazing mechanical monster that whips your coat away in seconds. Second, their "stadium section" is complete with padded benches, chairs, and a detox bar to keep your energy up. Third, their sound system is so clean that even my phone couldn't pick up distortion. My partner noted when we got out that his ears weren't ringing, and they usually do after a club. Best Techno club I've been to, and definitely worth the night in Montreal just to experience.

Yelp
As an 18 yr old female in a foreign country, I felt unsafe here. This was the only time during our trip to Montreal I felt uncomfortable. There are plenty of good clubs in Montreal, but this is not one of them. First off, we get to the night club around 11 PM. We walked down the stairs into complete darkness. No sign outside saying the name of the nightclub, but the address was right. The bouncer says it is free before 12. We're excited because we look this place up on trip advisor and it has very high ratings. We go in and pay for coat check. Then the security guy frisks me and my boyfriend. He stamps us on the arm with the phrase "URGENT!", a little weird but whatever. Finally we get in. We enter a room full of older people. Almost everyone I saw was at least 35 years old. The DJ was playing some terrible creepy techno music with no words at all. My boyfriend goes to the bar to get a drink and they tell him that he has to pay for a whole Redbull to get a Jager bomb. It's expensive so my friend declines and gets himself a beer and a (seriously overpriced) bottle of water. We normally tip at bars, but the guy so rudely told my friend about the prices that he did not think of it. The guy then proceeds to lean in and tell him that hey just so you know tip is not included so you need to tip. My bf reluctantly obliges. No one else said anything like this the whole time we were in Montreal. Bartender then gave us some made up story about how he makes no money bartending there. We leave to sit down and are surrounded by old bald men and 45 yr old women. Even tho I am clearly there with someone, men are creepily staring at me intensely the whole hour and a half we were there. This isn't out of the ordinary but I was not dressed up or anything and it was relentless. I did not feel safe. I had to use the bathroom so we go ask where it is. He directs us both in the same direction. We walk in to discover everything looks like an optical illusion. If you were heavily drunk you would probably get seriously hurt or lose your group of people you are with. The lights are so dim we can't see anything. The bathroom is unisex and there are men just pissing in the open and the bathroom stall had concrete floors and wooden walls. Really scary. I go out to find my boyfriend and get lost. Finally I find him after some creeps tried grabbing at me in the bathroom. We come out and I agree to stay and wait it out until at least 12:30. I try to take a pic of the nightclub on Snapchat and some dude comes over to me and yells at me saying "no pictures or video allowed." Finally when it started getting "busy", I realized that everyone on the dance floor was clearly on something. Everyone swaying creepily, and no one really actually dancing. We finally left around 12:45 and the coat check people wanted us to pay extra just in case we "came back." We said no thanks and left. If you're looking for a younger crowd, decent music, decent prices, and overall good vibes, this is not the place for you.

Payton W.

Yelp
Lots of fun, amazing lights and music. Honestly very sketchy though. If you are not experienced with the shadier side of life, don't go. If you have never been exposed to heavy drug consumption, don't go. If you have never been face to face with someone who truly scares you and don't think you could handle it, don't go. If you are comfortable with your street smarts then feel free, I had a ton of fun. Bathrooms are gross & communal and they don't serve alcohol. But let me say again, awesome lights and music!

Yelp
Stereo is an afterhours institution. It's huge. It's sound system could drown out a launching rocket. You'll move to it because you can't help it beats rattling you from the inside out. Looking around everyone is ecstatic. It's 5am and a thousand people push on the insides of this sound box. The sounds emanating from the booth are deep and soulful. When the bass drops you realize that the pilgrimage to hear co-owner/DJ David Morales' SIX HOUR SET was worth the drive, $25 entry fee and hours queuing in a wicked blizzard. Survival Kit: ear plugs (the system is tight, but deafening) pocket hand warmers (it's freakin' frigid in the winter) sneakers (you came here to dance, people) baby powder (for those sliding moves) waist belt (for cash/ID. you won't want to lug a purse) gum or tea tree oil toothpicks (someone on e will be thankful) an Emergen-C (a little pick-me-up) a hanky (for mopping up buckets of sweat) a thong (hey, you never know if you'll wake up at home) However the main room was torched last month and has yet to reopen. In the meantime the adjacent Stereobar is still pumping out beats. If you left when the bars closed in Boston there's a chance the party would still be going on. It's got a terrace lovely for the summertime, and while it lacks the shock absorbers under the dance floor like its big brother, the vibe is intimate and chill. Go get your groove on. ---------------- Old school homies, a little love to y'all: In the beginning there was Jack and Jack had a groove. And from this groove came the groove of all grooves. And one day while viciously throwing down in his box Jack boldly declared LET THERE BE HOUSE and house music was born. "Can You Feel It" - Mr. Fingers

Lindita T.

Yelp
This is THE WORST place ever. We left another place to come here, stood in line (we were the first people), and after entering we were told that it was $35 to ENTER- on top of the drinks we would have to but? I'm sorry, that's insane. Not to mention that We are American and they offered natives a cheaper price RIGHT IN FRONT OF US. PLUS- Only people 30 and UP WERE ENTERING THIS PLACE! If you are 20 DO NOT GO HERE! If I could give negative stars I WOULD. ALSO- This area is absolute shit. We had cat calls in a MCDONALDS. THE MOST AWFUL EXPERIENCE SO FAR! GO TO MAYFAIR

Yelp
Hey Club Stereo, YOU SUCK! Yes I am SO OVER YOU and your way over priced cover, standing in lines for hours in the freezing cold, only to watch you let your friends in VIP. When I finally get in, its is like a barn inside. You change $7.00 for WATER, for WATER scumbags, and then you have the nerve to turn off the cold water in the washroom sinks, how dare you. You have nerve Club Stereo. I will never come back. I am a dancer. I will not dance in your club ever again.

Yelp
The best club I have ever been to hands down!!! Went there for NYE and saw Nicole a Moudaber for 11 hours. The sound system is unreal and the vibes were amazing. Got to talk with the owner for awhile in the booth and he was super nice. Have nothing bad at all to say. Definitely need to make the long journey from Phoenix again soon!

Miriam T.

Yelp
I am reading the bad reviews, and I honestly can't believe my eyes, this place is heaven on earth, it cannot even be compared to any other place! Stereo's sign refers to "home", and you truly feel like you're home. You feel safe, loved, and extremely happy! People there are all nice, every time I go there I meet new amazing people! The sound system is heavenly. It's seriously unreal, I promise, if you go to stereo, you won't like any other place afterwards, this might be its only problem! It's breathtaking.

Yelp
Honestly if you're not from the area and looking for a good time this ISNT it, cover and coat check is cheap but the fun part(upstairs stereo afterhours) doesn't open till 2am, you can't bring drinks upstairs, and the bar isn't all that. Definitely shouldn't be ranked #1.
google avatar

Yelp
Great if you like techno. Stay away if you want to bowl. Doors open at 2 am for after hours and at that point there seems like there would have been enough room to bowl but they kept filling the room with smoke so I feel like I wouldn't even be able to see my pins. Around 4 am the place became kind of packed and the lineup outside was huge so I feel like bowling then would have been impossible. Worst of all the bouncer took my bowling ball away before going in -_- Sucks because the floors were beautiful and smooth and looked perfect for bowling.

Yelp
Best club I've been to in North America. Only places that rival it or surpass it in terms of music and vibe are in Europe, particularly Berlin. (I'm looking at you, Berghain - the pansexual goddess of techno clubs.) First off, the sound system. I was able to sit directly in front of the main floor speakers and still have a near-normal conversation with my friend. It's hard to describe, but the sound manages to be loud, body-shaking and intense without blowing out your ears or forcing you to shout. Next, the music. I hadn't heard of any of the DJ's, but the sounds they were making were sick. The first set even managed to blend Turkish music with deep house and it blew my mind. The DJs all knew how to play the crowd, bringing the energy level down then revving it up for unbelievable climaxes. Finally, the people - I really enjoyed the vibe the Saturday night I went. Everyone seemed friendly and really into the MUSIC, not strutting around and making a scene. Oh, and for those of you who think this is a place just for doing all sorts of drugs and rolling till 7am, well you're right haha. HOWEVER I wasn't high or drunk and still had a blast and stumbled out of there around 630am, happy and buzzing from the music. Next time I'm in Montreal I know where I'll be on Saturday night

Yelp
This club is horrible. Even the bouncer said it was sh*t. Music is horrible. Played literally elevator music the entire night.... no one was vining.... choose a more hype club please, stereo is lame and EXTREMELY boring... I want a refund ASAP. Building was lit and had potential but the djs were absolutely horrible.

Yelp
Incredible, I'll give it two reviews based on what kinda person you are, Technohead and EDM lover/regular "Club" goer that's never been to a techno joint before: REGULAR PERSON: as per the bad reviews, you have to know what you're getting into. I've brought a friend that only liked EDM (which IMO, is god awful), and she hated it so beware it's definitely up to music taste. Some nights only pick up after 6am because people can go till about 4pm DEPENDING on the DJ, so you might walk in and there's literally only "Ambient music", which could legit just be nature sounds, and is sometimes a precursor to what's about to take place (ie Dixon, one of the best DJ's in the world). Other nights it could be just fast paced pile driver techno, or deep house, depends on the DJ. Bathrooms are dual purpose, and yeah you gotta squat although the crew does an immaculate job of keeping them clean + in their normal state (there'll never be toilet paper on the floor and chunder gets cleaned up immediately). I'd think of it more of a music festival than an actual clubbing night, meaning google what you need before you come in, there's NO ALCOHOL and to every single regular that's totally fine, you should know this, it's not a regular club so don't attend it like it is. If you want to drink, pregame hard. The securities very serious because they don't want people dying from taking GHB (the date rape drug, says so in some news articles), so they'll frisk you well and even look around your shoes + pat you down, more serious than a music festival imo. This place is also a haven for everyone that loves techno as it's one of the only joints to go to in mtl (ew circus), so it's going to be an incredibly open community and keep an open mind, you might see some shit like people just going at it on the dance floor (not sex tho, ain't no berlin, but very intense making out). If you're nervous about coming, try a taste of downstairs (stereobar) first, it opens earlier and serves alcohol + has a sick sound system (albeit not as great as stereo). TECHNOHEADS I've had the time of my life here on more than a few occasions, Hernan Cattaneo b2b Guy J, Rodhad, Dixon, Mistress Barbara being outliers (they're sick) (Again, if you don't know those artists, try Stereobar first). The clubbing rivals that Berlin + Amsterdam, better sound then in NYC (at least compared with basement/avant gardner). If you're used to seeing people at music festivals, you'll know that they're the nicest people ever - the same goes for here, absolutely filled with love. Friends will be met everywhere, people are free here, sound is stellar, and i've stumbled out of here anytime from 9am - 6pm the next day. You can refill your water bottles in the washrooms, and the place is set up for raving, the lights are insane and even walking around the place is trippy. Stereobar also has sick sound. legit fantastic. Most dark and intimate place there is, pure fun. The owner (Tommy Piscardeli) is also a sick DJ, comes out once in a while, and his after8 after Dixon played was pure class, surreal experience. Such an intense club. People even wake up early and go in the morning for some high paced cardio, that's how sick the club is, you don't even have to wreck your sleep schedule for it. Demerits of the place: gotta squat for the toilets (no toilet seats), in the winter the doors are left open at the door so waiting in line for coat check can be cold/at the start of the night, securities toughest i've seen. if they catch you with drugs you can go in without them or leave with them, take option 1. Can't wait to go back. SO to everyone that works there, y'all are doing gods work

Yelp
I'd have to say after hearing about this place many times over the years and never having gone there I was sadly let down. A friend was over and he wanted to go dancing, only place open at 4 am, stereo! Initially they wanted 30.00 cover fee, being from Toronto, when I balked at the price they reduced it to 20 per. Here is where it gets interesting, my friend had an UNOPENED can of beer in his jacket (which we forgot about) he had brought it to my friends condo and was going to take it home since he never drank it.. anyhow I apologized to the doorman and asked if we could leave it at the front counter, heck no!! a large bald security officer swooped down and yelled " I'll be confiscating that" a whole big ordeal, I'm from Toronto where the afterhours actually serve alcohol ;) I again asked nicely if the guys at the front counter could just keep it until we left.. the security guy started yelling at me! It gets better :) when inside we found out a bottle of water is 5.00. The club had some people, but it was far from the crowd I expected on a Friday night. We were sitting on one of the benches and I was showing my friend a video on my phone and the same security man from the front door jumped at me and yelled "there is no filming or pictures in here, nobody here wants to be on camera" at this point I figured it was because of all the obvious drugs in the place, seriously the people who were around us appeared strung out on something. I tried to tell him it was my phone not a video camera and that I was not actually filming anything.. and he yelled at me " This is twice you have been confrontational with me once more and I throw you out" at this point I honestly just laughed. Very rude arrogant staff as other reviews have pointed out. I would maybe check out the other after hours if you are looking for something in downtown Montreal, don't waste your time on this place. I have the card from the front counter with the promoters e-mail and I will absolutely be contacting him regarding this incident. I don't plan to ever go there again, I don't get to spend as much time in Montreal as I would like because I live in Toronto, but regardless not a good place. I cannot say if my experience was typical but because I cannot promise this would not easily happen to another person (I'm a respectable woman, not a kid) I gave this place 2 stars. They clearly cater to a young crowd who has no other choice.

Yelp
This place is the definition of boogie. I don't normally write reviews, but I had to comment on how obnoxious and rude the staff were. I can't deny that the music was great (deep house) and the ambience was nice, but I really had a hard time getting over the condescending way in which the girls at the front deal with customers.

Yelp
Place was good. With apt seating, if you get tired, you could rest for a while. The music was good too; but keep in mind it was mostly tech music- just beats and no songs; not my taste but for someone who loves this kind of music, it's worth a visit. Also way more guys than girls. One thing that I didn't like was common washroom for guys and girls with men's urinal right in front of closed washroom.

Yelp
For all intents and purposes, my clubbing days are over. I just can't hang with the best of them any longer. I can't even remember the last time I stayed at a club past 1am, until I went back to the new Stereo. I for one, love the new place. Maybe it's old age, but I appreciate how clean the revamp is. I actually think the new DJ booth is great high above. Taking the DJ away from the center of attention nearly always makes for a better dance floor vibe (Twilo, Fabric etc.) and party. Love the adequate seating they provide, spacious dance floor and the vending machines for non alcoholic drinks. Hearing the godfather of house music, Frankie Knuckles lay down one of the most incredible sets I've heard in years, on the finely tuned Stereo sound system had me not wanting to leave. If it weren't for my flight out, I probably would have stayed longer as it just got better and better as the night/morning progressed. Just a note and I feel weird even having to mention this but the crowd is predominantly gay. If that makes you uncomfortable, just stay home. You are truly missing out on one of the best clubs in the world. Also as a true after hours, they don't open until 1am. This place is strictly for real house music lovers. Cover was pretty ridiculous ($40) but I got more than my moneys worth as this trek absolutely restored my faith for what real clubs still have to offer.

Yelp
not worth the hype nor money. first, the security was strict and invasive for no reason. i had a wine opener in my bag but confiscated my gum. like wtf. i also was carrying a small water bottle that barely had any liquid in it and they made me pay $4 to check it. again wtf. the staff was very aggressive and condescending to me which made it all worse. so then i get inside and expect it to be "the best club in north america" as my friend had told me but no, it was not remotely close. the dj was a local who looked like a teen whose beats were very elementary (borderline foolish really). and this was at 4 am too. all the people were old and weird. no one was dancing. just swaying lifelessly. the furniture was in very poor condition. they also have the audacity to charge $6 for water! in conclusion, dont waste your time and just go to the club down the street.

Yelp
Stereo is THE Flagship nightclub with analog sound system second to none (aside from PACHA) this place is poured with much technology its just mind blowing for any DJ's dream to spin here. For example the floors are equipped with springs to make u stomp and jump longer then usual before your feet start to kill. the sound system its self is so beautifully hand crafted installed with so much care it makes you ears orgasm with so much clarity that when you leave the club your eardrums are not exhausted from loud music. like no other club I have can actually have a conversation with somebody beside me without yelling. For the light you could probably just youtube it and see for yourself, its all about the globe. This is a club is only for music lovers. the DJ's who come to push this overwhelming sound system mainly play tech house to deep tribal house. it is something you must experience at least once.

Yelp
wow... what can I say other than wow? This is THE nightclub in Montreal- like every city has the flagship big club, big name dj's, best sound system etc. This is it. I love this space, so friendly and has amazing chillout lounge space without compromising dance space. I could go on- but you should probably just come here and decide if this is for you. I only ever go here when the talent is right. If you come here just as another club night you might feel disappointed that you spent a lot of money on just another club.

Yelp
Before the fire and rebuild, this was one of my favourite places! The music, the energy, everything was perfect. Now, not quite my favourite place anymore. It's been revamped and made fancier. With the new lights and big screens for visuals it's a bit too bright for an afterhours, however on new years they turned them down and turned off one screen so it felt more like the old stereo. Other changes that I don't like are the new DJ booth (too high and I liked it on the other side of the room before) and sometimes the people. Before everyone was so nice, I always made friends with people in line for the bathroom, getting water, or taking a break. People seem more closed off, not letting people in as much, changes the energy a bit. I have been back more recently, I originally wrote this review in 2010, and have had some better experiences with the crowd, but it's still not the same as the original. They've gotten rid of the secret Saturday thing which is great! Now I can actually plan when it's worth it for me to spend the money and the time to go. All that to say, the club is still great. The new open space is great, the sound is still amazing, and the wood floor is great to dance on for hours. Just make sure you hide your gum really well! They take away gum at the door. This club has been the place of many amazing memories and hopefully will be for future experiences. Maybe I'll see you there sometime!

Yelp
Best afterhours hands down! Been to so many parties but no one can compete with Stereo's soundsystem and Djs. The music draws you in and once you walk down the stairs you won't leave till morning. love it!

Yelp
Had a good time! Got there early so we were able to avoid the very long line that built up a couple of hours later. Nice club, there's always a place to sit or cool down. Bathroom is clean and bartenders are attentive. If you're looking for a fun place to dance some EDM, this is the place.

Yelp
This is horrible. Bouncers and host are horrible. They are inconsiderate, rude and aggressive. Definitely not worth the time. Look for somewhere better. If I could rate it zero stars I would.

Yelp
One of my favorite raging afterhours. One of the last shrines to the old spirit of house music. There was always an electric energy in the place, and the sound was always pumping. The dancefloor is really where the sound and the energy shines: in the center of those four monolithic tower speakers is choice. The atmosphere was always something along the lines of "how much can you take"; and we all loved it. The place gets steamy and sweaty. Remember seeing people such as David Morales or Roger Sanchez play some awesome sets there. I always left fulfilled: sweaty and blinded on those times that I forgot to bring sunglasses. Luckily, I have always been in Montreal during the summer; so I haven't had my memories soured by waiting in the cold to get in. For me, usually visits for the Montreal Jazz Festival and nites at Stereo went hand-in-hand. Sure the water-bottle prices are just silly; but the nostaglic me loves that steamy atmosphere. Unfortunately, it's gone now...but I'll always remember the place and the times.

Yelp
So its Saturday night, having recovered from my long drive last night, I head out into the night with my wife. We wander down St. Laurent and the street is blocked off to auto traffic and feels like one giant club/lounge, the weather is amazing the whole city is mobbed by tourists and students from all over. We decide to go check out this club, after asking a few people in line about prices and music. The place is three floors, the music was pretty much house and some euro-pop I guess. Sound system is pretty good, being on third floor, which is pretty much just a balcony overlooking the second floor, I did'nt get to sample the sound system on that floor. The crowd was pretty much in a good mood, and I guess with the weather and the end of a great summer, why not? Left at my usual earlier hours, the line was still huge at 1:40 AM! Hope the place can hang on for a few years, seems like every time I come up here, things change completely. Oops, after looking at a message I got from some dude, I think this is the wrong club, the one I went to was on St. Laurent street... it was named Radio something or other maybe, it was a pretty cool club anyways.

Yelp
Sound system was definitely impressive. The music was loud and pounding but it wasn't unbearable and you can actually have pretty decent conversation in the club which is pretty rare most of the time. Overall, it was pleasant and I liked that the place had wooden floors which adds a nice touch to the whole experience especially when you know that you're dancing on clean and visible floors.

Louise S.

Yelp
Don't be deceived! Worst clubbing experience I've ever had! First off the cover was insane ($30). The music was bad and repetitive, it was weirdly empty at like 3:30/4, and the people who were there were kind of uncomfortable and like 80% men. They also wouldn't give us a cup of water at the bar and tried to charge us $6 for a bottle. Everyone was generally unfriendly. Save your money!!!!!!!!

Max R.

Yelp
Intolerable. I took friends from the US here and I was so depressed and embarrassed. They took my GUM at the entrance because they considered it contraband aka they sell it in their vending machines and want you to buy it. Having gum confiscated out of my pocket was actually the most classically grotesque Montreal experience and it made me want to leave here and never ever come back. Policies like this are why this city is dying :(

Caitlin S.

Yelp
Terrible time. Staff was rude, the place was totally dead. The club was half empty by the time we got there. I'd recommend going down the street to go, well, anywhere else. Expensive, boring, unpleasant. Waste of $35, save your money.

Yelp
If you knew Stereo, then congrats. It harnessed a spirit that was at the essence of that beautiful thing called house music. RIP Stereo. You had a great run. _C$

Yelp
LOVED this place when I went to Montreal. The music was great and the guys were super cute. It was also a very non-pretentious crowd, which is hard to come across when you live in NYC...

Mathieu L.

Yelp
Danny Tenaglia calls Stereo ''his home away from home'' - I think that says enough!

Yelp
I usually don't comment on anything outside of a restaurant experience. I only branch out on special occasions. I LOVE how Stereo has rebuilt itself since it burnt down. This is my favourite club in North America and probably top 10, maybe top 5, if you include Europe also. Stereo keeps bringing in great DJs. Awesome minimal night this past weekend. Why go to Circus?

Luis H.

Yelp
The best club on Rue St. Catherine Est, and possibly in all of Montreal, this club features music by many of the world's best DJs such as David Morales, Peter Rauhofer, and Victor Calderone. The location, energy, and clientle of the place all add to its allure. Similar to what clubs in New York were like prior to 2004, Stereo remains a must go for clubgoers in town and looking to set themselves free to great music.

Ryan F.

Yelp
the staff are needlessly rude and the bouncers are total meatheads, but the sound system is good.

Alex O.

Yelp
Without a doubt one of the best clubs I've been to! Friends and I were in Montreal for the Osheaga/Divers-Cite long weekend and this is exactly what we were looking for. We lined up around 2 or 3 and got in relatively quickly (for the hefty sum of $45). It turned out to be entirely worth it. There are vending machines near the entrance selling water and other beverages. The sound/light system was amazing and the crowd was really chill - none of the riffraff you often see at a comparable club like Guvernment in Toronto. The night flew by and we have been talking about this place ever since.

Alexandra P.

Yelp
definition of what a true dance club should be (or atleast what was :( :( ) they have (had) springs in the dance floor, a pretty packed basement bar when you don't feel like going home at 9 in the morning , oh yeah, and a really really REAAAALLLY amazing sound system and most importantly the most devoted, beautiful, and happy clientele i have ever witnessed in my life
