Sticky Rice

"This is a long and colorful spot settled within a nondescript building that faces the street. Beyond the host station up front, there are three communal tables with low stools. True, the décor may sound basic, but a massive mural and suspended light fixtures composed with what looks like "sticky rice" baskets make for charming design elements.Service is simple yet special; and the menu, albeit compact, is laden with Laotian street food. Spice-rubbed chicken wings arrive piping hot and gently charred; while pork laab tossed with toasted rice powder, cilantro, lime and mint is a delightful special. Next up is the eponymous purple sticky rice—with coconut sauce and chopped mango. Toasted coconut flakes add a delicious flourish to this clever rendition.-" - Michelin Inspector

The 15 Best Restaurants in Mills 50

"This popular Mills 50 restaurant isn’t shy about displaying the full spectrum of flavors of Laotian cuisine with the sweet, the spicy, the fishy and the fermented all presented in street snack form. Scooping wee balls of sticky rice in one hand then dipping it into jaew mak len (a charred tomato paste) or jaew bong (sweet chili paste with pork skin) is digital dining at its finest. Lemongrass pork sausage, sesame beef jerky, and pork tapioca dumplings shouldn’t be overlooked. The fearless can test their fortitude with the funky, fermented, fishy quintessence of thum maak thang, a spicy cucumber salad." - Faiyaz Kara

We were so excited to try this restaurant and got hyped up by the photos and their social media but the food was mid. The LAAB chicken was too sour and was barely warm when it came out. The mini shrimp rolls were pretty good and very crispy. The meatballs lacked flavor and were very gummy. We didn’t eat them. The coconut curry ramen was pretty good but was more sweet than savory. The coffee was ok but tasted commercial if that makes sense. The service was great but we weren’t satisfied with our meals.

Stopped by for lunch on our way back to Jacksonville. My wife and I have a habit of sharing everything we order so we can try a little bit of everything. Dishes are brought out as they're ready. To start from top of the menu, we ordered the lemongrass beef jerky and curry ribs. Beef jerky is a unique blend of sweet, savory, and lemongrass-marinated beef and definitely not your typical jerky. It's so flavorful that it can stand alone as a meal when paired with rice. Curry ribs are tender, fall-off-the-bone deliciousness in every bite. Next in the middle, we went with the steak laab and coconut curry ramen. The flavors in the steak laab are perfectly balanced with each ingredient complementing the others. Seemed served at room temperature though. We ended the meal with a delightful sweet purple rice with mango for dessert. Great value for the price! Menu items are offered at reasonable prices and I highly recommend them for anyone looking for quality without breaking the bank.

Google
Never had Laotian food before, so I’m not sure how authentic the taste was, but it was definitely different than other food we have had in the past. The pork belly laab was like nothing I’ve had in the past. It had a somewhat sour taste, but that is the flavor profile we expected based on the description. It had good overall flavorful, but the squid in a stick and jeow bong wings stole the show!

The food was delicious. Everything came out quickly, nice and fresh and hot. I just wish they had some more options on their menu and some drinking options. Cant wait to go back . Those pork dumplings are amazing !!!

I tried this restaurant Monday night and it was amazing, truth to be told. I didn't know much about Laos food and now I am beginning to understand it. it's a great introduction to a culture that's little known about. the stuff was amazing. the gentleman that took care of me genuinely gave me his ear and obviously made the perfect suggestion as an introduction to their restaurant. it's a mom and pop operation and obviously they shine above the rest. they know their food very well and they know how to serve it. the atmosphere rather relaxed and positive vibe throughout. The setting what you would expect. downright home street food like, to me it felt like I was somewhere in Asia sitting with complete strangers sharing the tables. and it felt exactly like when I went into Thailand and they had these wonderful tables for sharing where you can sit and eat with a complete stranger. it's a wonderful experience. the food was stunning and the place overall is small. and that's what attracts me to these places, it felt right. this is the kind of place where it's a great place to eat and hang out with friends or a complete stranger. you'll be amazed to know that it is not the ordinary, but the extraordinary. kudos to the management and the owners for they have done something I truly exceptional. I had what they call a laab with steak and rice and let me tell you it is not something you would normally get anywhere and everywhere, again, they are an exception to the rule. go there. stop reading, and just get there. and enjoy it!

Google
This place is located on little Vietnam/ a whole street of asain related resturants and shops (so recommended touring dessert/boba shops after this one). I ordered the lemongrass beef jerky, and man it was tasty- 9/10. My Entree was coconut curry ramen which had shrimp in it, was good but not hot enough temperature wise.. I felt like I needed to add some kind of sauce also but there wasn't any- 6/10. Then for dessert I had the purple sticky rice with mango- 8/10 (for healthy dessert/ asain food lovers). Overall the vibe of the restaurant took me to overseas inner city. Definitely would come back for the lemongrass beef jerky! And to try different things on the menu. :) was a fun experience!

I wish I found this place sooner before my trip ended to try more dishes. The food and service here was amazing! The music played was great as well. I will be back when I visit Orlando again!

Google
First meal upon touchdown 🛬 I loved it! the lemongrass beef jerky is in a class of its own. I didn’t get to try the bao but it looked so good. The WINGS chile. I’d go back just for the wings. The ribs were okay, I don’t think I need to have them again. Same for the dessert. The drink selection is very impressive and I even got to keep this nice glass. I’ll be back!

Yelp
Sticky Rice in Orlando is one of my fav hole in the wall, authentic Lao street style food! The sticky tapioca pork balls are chewy and delicious, while the sticky chicken wings hit just the right umami notes with a touch of fish sauce. The curry ramen is a rich bowl of creamy coconut curry with the perfect amount of spice, and the crispy squid on a stick adds a fun texture to the meal. The khao piek sen chicken noodle dish is warming and comforting, especially with a drizzle of chili oil to add some heat. Most dishes are small plates, which are perfect for sharing, and the prices are really reasonable. The smell of BBQ meat hits you as soon as you walk in, and you get all the flavor profiles all at once with this style of food. The vibe and service inside is chill and simple--not loud, just good energy all around. It's one of my go to spots for late night cravings. If you're looking for authentic Lao street food in Orlando, this place is a must try!

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch today and had a pleasant experience. The parking is located in the back; while the lot is small, there's enough space for the amount of seating inside. Inside, the seating is community-style, but since there were only a few people at the time, it felt comfortable. We ordered several dishes (and forgot to take photos because we dove in right away! *Tapioca Buns: The texture wasn't my favorite, but the meat inside was really flavorful. *Lemongrass Beef Jerky: My favorite of the meal! It had a slight lemongrass flavor and a great blend of spices, so good. *Chicken Wings: They were good but didn't stand out. Overall, a nice spot with some standout dishes. I'd come back, especially for the jerky!

Yelp
I have always wanted to try this place out! I was excited to try some Lao food. The inside is cool but it's definitely a more casual restaurant. The lady who took our order was nice and helpful explaining the menu. We ordered a few different things. First were the Beef Lemongrass Jerky, these were okay. Was expecting more flavor. We got the Chicken Laarb, this had like no flavor to it. Cucumber Salad and the spring rolls were okay. The food is fresh but the flavor is not there. I don't think I would come here again.

Yelp
Visited Sticky Rice for the 1st time this weekend! I have been talking about going to Sticky Rice for years and we finally made it!! I have never had Laotian cuisine before, so I was curious what it would be like. Inside, they have community table seating. You order at the counter and the plates will come out as they are ready. We got the Khao Piek Sen ramen and the Coconut Curry Ramen. Both were delicious, the coconut Curry was the perfect balance of sweet and spicy! I loved the broth. Additionally, we got the spring roles, wings, and lemongrass sausage. The sausage was very interesting, I have never had a lemongrass meat before lol! The flavor of lemongrass was very forward, it was unique but good! The springs roles were the perfect crispiness and the wings were excellent. The flavor was sweet and savory, the perfect amount of grilled char on the outside which really made them. I really enjoyed Sticky Rice and glad I finally came! I am excited to come back and try it again, and again!!

Yelp
So good! I have yet to have a bad meal. Love the food and the coffee. Quick casual place with absolutely delicious food.

Yelp
Stopped by after a day at Disney and this place HIT THE SPOT. Everything was delicious, I ordered the Khao Piek Sen noodle soup and it was by far, the best broth I ever had. Perfect for a cold day, the garlic & ginger was soothing to the soul. The Laab lettuce wraps were so tasty and my husband enjoyed the coconut curry soup. They have a handwashing station by the counter, you order at the front and then they bring the food to you. For desert we had the mango & purple rice- perfect semi-sweet desert that made you want MORE. Will definitely be back. Loved the seating, keep in mind it's a small restaurant.

Yelp
Sticky Rice is a hidden gem in Orlando - while I wish more people knew about it, I'm not mad since the space is small and already packed each day. First, know there will probably be a line, but it does move fairly quickly and the food comes out efficiently too. Although you may need to wait, I promise its going to be worthwhile. For apps, I love the pork tapioca dumpling, its tasty, different, and has a bit of a sweet taste that isn't normal in an appetizer. It's definitely my go-to in the appetizers. I would say to skip the meatballs - they were pretty boring with the majority of the flavor coming from the sauce. Compared the dumpling this is way at the bottom of the list. For the entree, hands down the Kapoon Nam Gai is the one to get. The broth is extremely addicting. I could probably only eat the broth and be thrilled. Of course, beware of the large chunks of ginger and spicy pieces that are floating near the top. If those aren't your thing, be sure to remove them before you accidentally eat one. Also, know that the chili oil floats on top - depending on your tolerance, be sure to decide how much you want. Personally, I think the normal plating is fine, but if you're spice intolerant it could be rough.

Yelp
Wow the food is so affordable and it was so tasty. We got a wide variety of dishes so I'll list my favorites and then the ones I thought were ok. Yum : Larb (we got pork belly one) Lemongrass beef jerky Cucumber salad Yuzu sake Ok: Curry noodle Clear chicken noodle Curry ribs (friend said it tasted like carnitas) Hard pass: Taro dumplings Sparkling sake Ambiance: community style table seating, self serve utensils and water, wonderfully unpretentious

Yelp
Great Lao food! This is a quick service style restaurant. Love the decore and ambiance in here. All the items we tried were great. The jerky, bao, and the spring roles stood out as my favorite items. The bowls were great too though!

Yelp
This place is definitely worth its Michelin Star status. Never have I ever tried food from Laos but I will definitely keep my eyes out for it after this experience. I like how the price was super affordable and how it had seating similar to going to a traditional Asian food stand. There was a long wooden table with communal seating around. You order up at the front of the restaurant. We got grass jelly drink which was interesting. It tasted very gelatinous. Then we got Crispy Rice Lettuce Wraps, yellow curry chicken, and curry ribs. Everything was so, so good. I really liked how crispy the rice in the crispy rice lettuce wrap was. It was so flavorful and the lady at the store even brought us more lettuce. The spice level of this dish was on point. We asked for super spicy and the crispy rice lettuce wrap was definitely full of pepper. The curry ribs were not as spicy but I did like the rub/sauce on it. The yellow curry chicken had an ok spice level. I really liked the chicken mixed with the coconut curry. The dessert was also fire. It was a coconut purple rice with coconut cream.

Yelp
Quick lunch of pork belly laab served with the eponymous sticky rice. The laab was flavorful 'salad' of the pork slices, onions, scallions, cilantro dressed with a sweet-sour fish sauce. Lettuce and cukes on the side to scoop up the Laab. Spot on. The sticky rice could have been a bit stickier (fell apart in my hand), but was good. Efficient counter service. No complaints.

Yelp
If you like Asian street food, this is the best place to go. The place is small, a little dark, street food vibe! Every dishes are seasoned and flavorful. Mainly are small dishes that you can try and share with friends. When we came in, there was a long line, and you would seat yourself, first come first serve, the wait was not too bad. We got beef jerky, love this, can try with their sticky rice. Curry ribs are so good too, super tender that it falls off the bone Try their signature laab too, it comes with rice also. For dessert, you can try their purple rice, with mango/ icecream and it came with coconut milk, not too sweet, love it! Highly recommended coming here for Asian street food!

Yelp
This is a little Lao's gem! Love all of the cultural elements that was in the restaurant! The concept is that you order up at the cashier and then take a seat. Ordered a Thai Tea which was super refreshing on a hot day. From the small plates, got the MUST ORDER Curry Ribs (fall off the freaken bone, super tender and flavorful), Sticky Wings (reminded me of a bit of tamarind taste) and the Jeow Bong Wings (also very tasty and great seasoning with the chili paste). For a little "green", also got the Papaya Salad (uniqueness of serving the salad with pork rind was a nice touch). Another MUST ORDER is The Crispy Lettuce Wraps was also a hit (really loved the crunchiness of the rice and paired well with the cured pork). Restrooms - Individual Stalls/Clean Parking - Has their own parking lot towards the side for free

Yelp
Cute little ramen spot! I tried the beef jerky (lemongrass), coconut ramen, and chicken wings. All were very tasty! Great customer service who was attentive and speedy. There is a small parking lot adjacent to the restaurant for parking. Prices are reasonable and portions are good size.

Yelp
I am sad to leave this review because I have been wanting to try this place for a long time. Walk in and the place is super cute, street food vibe. You order at the counter and then can take a seat anywhere you want and they will bring out the food. The staff at the counter does not seem eager to be there and could not say what is good at this place. We ordered the following: - pork tapioca dumplings, very sticky, it's pretty good - lemongrass beef jerky, a little tough, flavors are good, better to have some rice with this I think - curry ribs, falls off the bone, again really salty for my taste - papaya salad, medium, again it was ok, I have had better - crispy rice lettuce wrap, this was interesting, gives you only three pieces of lettuce, taste pretty good. - pork sausage, I didn't care for this one at all - Thai tea, this was delicious Overall I am glad we ordered a few dishes but none of them really stood out, everything was salty but maybe get the rice, it might help!

Yelp
A gem! We missed home cooked Lao food and this place hit the mark. My daughter said they stole my recipes. We all agreed everything we got was delicious and authentic. We had 13 in our group, came here on a Saturday for lunch at noon. Food came out quickly, nicely presented. Texture, flavor and seasoning was spot on. Veggies were fresh and perfect for our wrapped dishes. Very reasonable in price and service was excellent! Super friendly and nice people taking orders and bringing out our food. Seating area was very clean.

Yelp
The food is simply yummy! Homemade authentic taste and very quick serving. Our kids had the chicken rice noodle soup. I think it's one of the best chicken soup I ever tasted. So yummy

Yelp
The food was pretty delicious, but heavy on cilantro (FYI for the soapy taste buds). I've been here a couple times. My first few times, I was a little disappointed about the soup I had ordered, but the lettuce wraps were delicious. This visit, I noticed they had different items on the menu so I ordered a few items. The coconut curry chicken was delicious and filling. The shrimp chips were fresh and crunchy. The tapioca dumplings were flavorful and peanut-y. I also enjoyed the wings and the baos (2 for $8). The sausage was not bad either. The service was great and our food came out very quickly, with the exception of the baos. But when they arrived, the baos were fluffy and the chicken was crispy. Plenty of community style seating and quiet enough to talk to friends without having to speak too loudly.

Yelp
Sticky Rice (in Mills 50 area) is a true gem! The small space has a laid back and no frills atmosphere, perfect for enjoying their authentic and flavorful Lao dishes with friends at affordable prices. The papaya salad is a must-try, with the perfect balance of tangy, spicy, and fresh. Our favorites include the crispy rice lettuce wraps and beef jerky with sticky rice. For dessert, you must try the mango sweet purple sticky rice.

Yelp
This is a small intimate casual location. It seems to be well known in the community and for reasons well deserved. We had a large group of 10. We arrived at about 6pm and there were no issues to get us all seated. Orders are taken at the counter and we get a number at our table. Drinks/beer are from the refrigerator at the counter. We received our starters quickly. I had the coconut curry ramen with shrimp. It was a large portion. Very flavorful and I'm craving it as I type. My leftover the next day was just as amazing.

Yelp
Grew up eating Lao food in California and this is authentic and excellent food. Will definitely come back! The Kapoon taste just like home.

Yelp
This Laotian restaurant had some of the best food I tried in Orlando! I visited after a friend recommended it, and I'm so glad I did! The dishes are perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. I visited on a Friday night, and it was pretty busy. However, I was still able to find a seat. The interior is bright and vividly decorated. The seating is all open benches, and you find a seat after you order. The waiters were all super friendly and efficient. They provided great recommendations. I was amazed by the flavor of all the dishes I ordered. The papaya salad was probably the best one I've ever tried. I love the taste of fish sauce, and the papaya salad has a heavy helping of it. If you are not a fish sauce fan, this dish might not be for you. The pork rinds included with the papaya salad were crispy and savory. The sticky chicken wings were also delightful - the sticky sauce is umami, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The star of the show was definitely the pork belly laab. Wow, I've never had a dish like this, and it was phenomenal. The sticky rice paired really well with the pork belly slices. The richness of the pork belly was balanced by the variety of fresh flavors from the cilantro, cucumber, mint, and lettuce. I cannot recommend the pork belly laab enough - it was a medley of harmonious flavors! Sticky Rice is truly a gem in the Orlando food scene, and I am eager to try more dishes!

Yelp
Very cool ambiance. Papaya Salad - So tasty and refreshing. I would have preferred shrimp chips over pork rinds though. Jeow Bong Chicken Bao - Packed with saucy flavor! Coconut Curry Ramen - Absolutely delicious soup base. All of the ingredients were cooked well, and the noodles had great texture. Sweet Purple Rice with Mango - A satisfying way to end the meal. It wasn't too sweet and can definitely be shared.

Yelp
I love Laotian food and this spot didn't disappoint. My husband and I shared: - Pork Belly Laab Rice Bowl - Kapoon Nam Gai - Crispy Rice Lettuce Wraps - Pork Tapioca Dumplings - Sweet Purple Rice with Mango It was a great meal. The crispy rice and tapioca dumplings were my favorite thing. I also loved the mango sticky rice, which strangely had pineapple (not mango as advertised), but it was still delicious. We ordered takeout and I'm sure dining in is even better.

Yelp
This place is amazing! I went here five years ago and it still taste the same! Every dish was perfect. The papaya salad is pretty hot. We got the hot level so just be aware. We eat spicy every day but this got us for sure. The chicken laab is always a classic. If you get it with papaya salad the sticky rice and cucumbers can cool down your tongue. The curry rib was flavorful and soft. The moment you touch it the meat falls off the bone. The Laos sausage was okay. Not bad it's just a little more dry than I usually have it. And of course you can't go wrong with Thai tea! Only downside is that it took forty minutes for all the food to come out. It came out slowly and the last dish was the curry ribs. Which to me makes sense so I guess I can't blame them. We just personally like having all our food together before eating. Other than that still worth the wait!

Yelp
I'm glad this restaurant exist. Its one of my favorite reataurant here in Orlando. This is one on my list whenever my friend ask me for a recommendation of asian food. My favorite from here is the lemongrass beef jerky, its well marinated and its just full of flavor. The curry ribs is a must try, its so tender and juicy that one you take a bite you'll enjoy the taste of a little sweetness and salty. Can't go to this place without having papaya salad. They put this fish sauce that reminds me of filipino sauce. I always order this with chili on the side so I can control the spiciness. Go for larb pork rice bowl if you're still hungry. So much spices that makes this dish delicious.

Yelp
This Lao Street Food restaurant is just as savory and consistent as the first time I visited many years ago. I recently went with a friend and her husband, since they were excited to discover there was Lao cuisine in Orlando. We decided to get a variety of tapas dishes for family style eating. We ordered the beef jerky, papaya salad, coconut ramen, curry ribs, pork tapioca balls, pork belly bowl and steak bowl. (I forgot to take photos of the Curry Ribs) I have to say, all the dishes were delicious and savory. However, the pork tapioca bowl added just enough sweetness to balance out the sweet and savory flavor profiles. I did like the fact the curry ribs were so tender they fell off the bone, but it lacked in the seasoning department. The coconut ramen showcased the peanuts and coconut well in the rich broth. I would say my favorite was the papaya salad. It has incredible heat for medium hot, yet the simplicity of the dish reminded me of Vietnamese flavors. I shredded some of the beef jerky and it helped level up the dish even more! Since most everything was well-seasoned, you won't need any extra sauces to drown your food with. Besides, the only sauce they do provide outside of the ingredients they use to cook with is a sriracha bottle. Sticky rice had a friendly cashier who was very helpful. The ambiance was just the right trendy design esthetic for a laid back meal with family and friends. Tables allow you to meet people with that communal feel. It may be a great spot for a first date! The selection of beers was decent and offered a few Vietnamese choices, but they didn't have any Laotian drinks. I was super impressed with how speedy the dishes came out, but it was staggered delivery. Whatever was cooked first came out first. Parking can be challenging since it's mainly street parking. Overall it's a great place to try. I'll certainly be back with friends to try all the other dishes, including desserts!

Yelp
Everything at Sticky Rice has so much flavor and all the ingredients are very fresh. The vegetables are always crisp and the food comes out piping hot. My favorite dish is the coconut curry ramen. It's amazing. The staff is also very kind and the food comes out quick. I recommend to not wear warm clothing as it gets pretty hot inside the building (especially while eating delicious hot food)!

Yelp
We were craving some Asian food and we were so happy Laotian food was near us! From the start, the restaurant is clean and friendly. You order first and then you seat yourself. There is four long tables that seats 8 people in one. Food: Jeow Chicken Bong Bao 1/5 -- the chicken was pink on the inside. It tasted like an old buffalo hot sauce. Didn't enjoy it as much! Cucumber Salad 5/5 -- it was really refreshing and tasted great! Wish we got it spicier. Kapoon Nam Gai 3/5 -- super good and comforting! It's very curry like (obv). We wish it was a little saltier with salt or fish sauce. It could have had a little more flavor to this dish. Overall it was good. Khao Piek Sen 5/5 -- def hit the spot esp if it was a cold day! Loved everything little thing about this dish. The noodles were perfect. Purple sticky rice with Mango 5/5 -- nuff said. I would like it better without the flake on top. Thai Tea 5/5 Green Thai Tea 5/5 Overall, I would def come back! It reminded me a lot of home dishes (Hmong) and I loved it. The service was quick and fast. Give this place a god!

Yelp
I've been hearing about this place for a long, long time. So it's been on my list. Then, it appeared on the Michelin Guide, so it got bumped up on that list. I came here one afternoon to feast. First of all, it's in the best location possible, right in the heart of Mills 50. Second of all, when you enter the store, you get greeted by a very pleasant staff, and they offer to help you with the menu. I felt very welcome. We browsed the menu, and take up with a plan. I got myself a Thai Tea, and we ordered like five things to share. Thai Tea (sweetened traditional thai tea, half and half). Very delicious. The half and half amount they use makes it just sweet enough and just creamy enough. Delicious. The employees recommended the Pork Tapioca Dumplings (sweet radish & minced pork, peanuts, cilantro, dried chillies) to me. Never had anything like this. Just like a normal dumpling, but the outside is sticky, just a little sweet tapioca. Very fun, very delicious pork. The peanuts on the outside gave it a good texture, too. They also had a special that wasn't on their regular menu, the Mok Pah (Lemongrass and herb steamed fish). Loved this. The fish within the banana leaf was very fragrant and very flavorful. Lemongrass, ginger, fish sauce, different bites yielded different flavors, it was just a lot of fun. Laab Rice Bowl (Chicken; sauteed, cilantro, scallions, shallots, mint, served with jasmine rice, lettuce and cucumber). This was a nice, interactive dish. Lettuce and cucumber in order to put the chicken on and eat like nachos, very fresh and flavorful. And some nice jasmine rice to mix all around and get all juicy from the laab. Super cool dish. Papaya Salad (Lao Style with pungent and salty flavors, cherry, tomatoes, chillies, funky dank sauce). Never had papaya salad before, so I was very excited. The way this place makes their dishes, you get a cherry here, a tomato there, chili in another bite. Every bite is different, and it's just a lot of fun. A nice, fresh, sweet salad, tamped down with some salt and some heat. Loved it. Now we come to both my favorite dish and the biggest surprise of the day for me. The Jeow Bong Chicken Bao (fried chicken, sweet chili paste, red cabbage slaw). Whatever that sweet chili paste was that coated that chicken, I had never had that flavor before, but now I want it every day for the rest of my life. It was so deep and full of spices and flavor. And that red cabbage slaw added a good pop of fresh acid. Just a lovely dish. Overall, this was such a wonderful place, and it is legit now one of my favorite places in Orlando. Will come back soon and often. Thanks, Sticky Rice!

Yelp
Sticky Rice Lao Street Food in Orlando is a fast casual restaurant. They really embraced the "street food" style and atmosphere with the low stools and tables, which I though provided a very unique dining experience. My favorite was definitely the papaya salad! The flavor, spice, and combination with the pork rinds was perfect. It was very pungent and you can really taste the fish sauce, it tasted very authentic - at least for me. The staff was friendly, making the whole experience enjoyable. My other favorite is the crispy rice lettuce wraps, was not presented in the way I had expected but still very good and different. I was imagining little lettuce tacos. If you're looking for a quick bite and something with rich and authentic flavors I would definitely recommend checking this place out.

SO GOOD. I AM IN LOVE! We ordered the below based on the host's recommendations: 1. Lemongrass Beef Jerky 2. Crispy Rice Lettuce Wraps 3. Wings 4. Khao Piek Sen 5. Laab Rice Bowl with pork belly 6. Green Thai Tea Don't be fooled by the "Small Plates"! Portions are plentiful and good for sharing. We also wanted to order the Sweet Purple Rice with Mango dessert, but we were way too full by the end of it. I've never heard of green Thai tea before and when I asked about it, the host was kind enough to give my friends and I a sample to taste. The tea by itself is so good! He was also able to make it dairy-free for me with coconut milk instead of half and half which I really appreciated. The food itself was AMAZING. Nothing was bad. I would definitely order the Lemongrass Beef Jerky and Khao Piek Sen again. The hot sauce that they give with the noodles has a good heat to it. The place itself is cozy with a communal picnic bench-style seating. Even though we stayed until nearly closing, they never pressured us to leave.

Yelp
The food was really disappointing. Papaya salad was not edible because of all the fish sauce. Meatballs were a strange color and seemed boiled. Fried wings were average. Usually a place with this many yelp ratings and high stars is solid but this was a definite miss

Yelp
I'm embarrassed that it's taken this long for me to dine here. We came for a late lunch at around 2:30pm and even then, the place was packed. They have the daily specials written on a chalkboard, but there's also a menu on the counter where you order. I couldn't pass up the daily special, the Mok Pa which was a well-seasoned steamed fish wrapped in bamboo leaves. This was outstanding. It had so many delicious flavors, I could taste the lemongrass, the ginger, the coconut, it was just sooo much flavor, and I ordered it with the sticky rice which I think is the best pairing with this fish. My friend ordered the chicken curry and I tried the broth and some of the potatoes and this soup was a revelation. I'm definitely going to order soup next time; it seems their soups are where it's at. I understand why this little hole in the wall is on the Michelin list and I personally can't wait to go back and try more of their items.

Yelp
I've always been a fan of Sticky Rice. They are the only fully Laotian restaurant in Orlando, and their menu is always evolving. I've experienced so many new experiences and food from this restaurant! Upon entry, their staff is always so welcoming and helpful. Its a restaurant where you order at a counter and then they bring the food to your table. I ordered Thai Green Tea and Khao Piek Sen. My friend ordered these new wings that are available on their Specials menu. My first time having Thai Green Tea was soooo gooood! I lowkey think I like it better than regular green tea, that's a controversial hot take. One thing I love about Southeast Asian cooking as a whole is the amount of flavors, spices, and cilantro. This soup did not disappoint! The noodles were perfect and the broth was amazingly delicious. The ambiance of this restaurant is always positive and lively. It was a busy day and it has good vibes all around.

Yelp
The food was awesome. I got the pork sausage with sticky rice. Just something simple because whenever I travel, I end up with stomach issues, but I'm glad to say that the food went down well, and I wish I lived closer to Orlando so that I could try everything on the menu. I did carry out, so I did not experience the ambience as well as I would have normally when I dine in, but the place was quaint and nicely decorated. They had a nice selection of drinks, alcoholic and nonalcoholic to choose from to go with your meal, I was tempted to buy the yuzu wine, but decided not to. The area is more down to earth than the Orlando area surrounding the Disney's resorts, but I would definitely stay there instead of near the Disney resorts just for the variety of food that is nearby. Tons of Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, and of course, Lao choices

Yelp
It is a nice sit down place to share food with some friends. I usually come here with some friends and we share everything like family style. The service was fast in getting your order in and also they clean the table very often for new customers to sit down. The food also comes out fairly fast so you are'nt waiting on your food too long. Food: My favorite will always be the spicy papaya salad with the chicken laab. Mix them together and you get a nice combination of flavor. I also like the beef meetball skewers as it has lot of flavor and it comes out juicy.

Yelp
This place was ok, small inside, the menu looked promising and I've driven by this place on colonial for years and have been intrigued having been to Laos so I finally stopped by. We arrived on a Saturday evening and it wasn't that busy. You order at the counter, get your order number and then sit anywhere you like and they bring you the food. The customer service is nonexistent, they looked mad and kept saying loudly how tired they were. I felt like an inconvenience and would have ordered more items but I kept it short. The Jeow fried chicken on bao buns came out first they were delicious, and crunchy. Next came the Pork Laab Rice bowl and opted for sticky rice. The pork belly just tasted boiled with a lot of lime and red onions added on top like ceviche. Kinda disappointed because I can cook pork belly much better and my husband agreed. Places like these make me wonder why I even leave the house to eat out sometimes. Finally the curry ribs came out and they were so soft the meat fell off the bones but the flavor didn't wow me either. We also got Chang beers for $7. I don't think I'll be back but glad I satisfied my curiosity.

Yelp
The food tastes just ok. The noodle needs more flavor, it's not rich enough. Beef jerky is good, sticky rice is just normal sticky rice, I don't know why people would want to try that. Chicken wing is on the sweet side, which is very Americanized for a southeast Asian food. They take your order at the counter and you pay before you get the dishes. Afterwards you take the dishes to the collection place. So the only service you get is when they bring the dishes to you? Overall I feel like it's very Americanized lao food.

Yelp
One word: WOW!!! Went to a one star distinction Michelin expensive restaurant. The food was mediocre compared to the food served in this Lao restaurant. Sooo good! The crispy rice lettuce wrap mixture was great with or without the wraps. However, squeezing the lemon juice over the mixture is must due to the enhanced tangy flavors. The yellow curry chicken flavor was lighter than expected. Thickening would enhance it but nonetheless, it was delicious. The curry ribs meat easily fell off the bone and was so succulent and savory. Even the ribs cartilage was great. My favorite was the sweet purple rice with coconut gelato. The dessert gently mixed the coconut flavors with the sweet rice to make a delectable dish. The service was great. We ordered at the cashier table and food delivered within 10-15 minutes. They're plenty of chairs and tables to seat 1-6 people at a time. Only the problem I foresaw was the music playing too loud. Overall, a must go restaurant in all of Orlando, maybe even in the State!

Yelp
This is my go to place. I got the sticky rice, wines and beef jerky. The rice was good and sticky, I don't care for their dipping sauce but rice is good. The wings come 4 to order and over a grill. Enjoy the flavor of them. Now the beef jerky, this one of my fav dish in town. It's flank steak with lemon grass and something else. It's outstanding also don't think if the store bought beef jerky. The place is small and community tables. Elephant on the wall along with another mural. Service is great. It's a recommend place to

Yelp
Always have a great time at Sticky Rice! I've never had anything I didn't like here and the Lemongrass Beef Jerky is a personal favorite of mine. Because everything is so good, the best way to eat is to get a bunch of everything to share with friends.

Yelp
I loved the staff and how friendly they were. The food came out pretty fast as well. Once I sat down, I received the spring rolls first. They were perfectly crisp on the outside and too mushy in the center. I am not sure if that was how it was supposed to be. The next item I tried was the cucumber salad, which was perfect chilling and with a great amount of spice. I would recommend this to everyone. The inside was nicely decorated with wall art and framed pictured. The farm tables were a bonus with the decor. Now continuing with the food, I tried the beef jerky that was perfectly cooked and tasted just like jerky but with better flavor and tender. Lastly, the main dish, chicken laab, were so beautifully served. It was just sad to bite into the chicken, and it literally not had any flavor. I was expecting a cilantro and onion flavor, but no none at all. I was so disappointed. I did enjoy the fresh cucumber slices and lettuce. The sticky rice was perfectly cooked, too. I would recommend that you add some flavor to the chicken at least. It will definitely help.

Yelp
Ok so I was tripping I had visited this place when I first moved to Orlando and I don't remember what I got but I remember it being pretty good but I never returned because it didn't blow me away. And with so many amazing places in Mills50 I never thought to return but this is where I was tripping. I just so happened to see a bogo deal they were offering and I was only going to go for wings the Jeow Bong wings specifically and wow they were so damn good. I got an extra order to go after eating in (don't you judge me!). I went every single day that week and I didn't have a single bad item on the menu it was all fantastic (see how I was tripping) how could I desert this place for so long. Service here is nice the people remembered me and made me want to wear a trench coat, shades and hat to eat in peace. I like the seating here also have high chairs which is a big plus for a place where only the coolest Orlandoans eat. 5/5 go to this place! Support these local spots making amazing food for us!

Yelp
Went there for lunch on a Saturday . Had the coconut curry ramen with shrimp. It was very good. I would gave the food a 4.5, service a 4. You order at the counter and when finished, you take the trash to the trash can. So overall a 4. I would go back to try other items on the menu.

Yelp
From my experience, the food is always amazing! I've eaten Laos and Thai food many times. I've also eaten home cooking Laos food and Laos temple food vendors hundreds of times. However, it seems the old negative reviews are either from old employees that left or the owner took notice and trained their employees. There are plenty of Laos people on here also complementing the food like I am. Their portions seem to be larger than what people complained about in the past. Granted, somethings are supposed to be spicy like Laab, Kha Poon, and pork sausage but the owner doesn't want to scare away customers like certain Thai restaurants do that as well. If you want it very spicy you have to let them know. I thought the food overall was very good, you just got really very picky eaters and egos on here. The food averages $3-$13 so that's the cheapest vs. Thai, Japanese and Chinese $15-$30. Also, Laos people in general eat small portions like Japanese people. Americans just want huge portions. So to compare to a restaurant and grocery chain prices is a bad review. This is my 5th time coming to this place everytime I come down to Orlando. This restaurant nailed it and is authentic with a little modern Laos style. 10/10. If you are tired of Thai food that's all over Orlando, FL. Go for this Laos authentic and modern style street food! Their service was also amazing. Their price is very reasonable and you get a lot for what you paid for. My favorite top picks: 1. Kha Poon Nam Gai ( white noodle in coconut milk chicken) 2. Sticky Chicken Wings 3. Lemon Grass Beef Jerky 4. Lab Gai (ground chicken ) 5. Papaya Salad 6. Yellow Curry Chicken 7. Lemon Grass Sausage 8. Khao Peik Sen ( congee noodle type chicken broth) 9. Laos ribs (extremely popular and sometimes sold out) All I can say is pick the top 9 I just mentioned and you can NEVER EVER go wrong! If you don't want spicy then avoid papaya salad. Other than that, all of their selections are top quality notch at reasonable prices! My pictures are the living testimony!

Yelp
This is one of our family's favorite places! Their small plates are fantastic to share, but their bowls and soups are so generous that you'll probably need to take home leftovers. We always order their Lemongrass Jerky and Pork Tapioca Dumplings. They're my favorites, and Sticky Rice is the only place in Orlando that serves these amazing dishes. The dining room is cozy and bright, with long, low tables and stools, and a beautiful elephant mural -- significant to Lao and representing prosperity. Each individual dish is brought out promptly as it's made. This is a fantastic, small family-owned business, and I highly recommend you check them out and order one of every small plate!

Yelp
Pros: This place opened my eyes to a whole new type of Asian cuisine; flavors I've never had before ever. Very cool. The vibe in there is very lowkey and casual and inviting, along with an unmistakable pride in their country and their food. The menu is very varied. Even if someone is a little picky, there is no way someone couldn't find something they would eat from this menu. Service was friendly and quickly to make recommendations, which is always appreciated. Cons: Oh gosh, I'm on the spot here. Ummm... I got nothing. This place made it on the Michelin Guide for a reason. Tips: Oh Lord, where do I start? Pork Tapioca Dumplings. Laab Rice Bowl. Jeow Bong Chicken Bao. These dishes were A-mazing.

Yelp
A little shop offering big flavors. Nothing on the menu is going to be familiar unless you've been to Asia. Nothing is going to taste like American cuisine. So give yourself a taste of something different in this counter service walk-in tiny shop with cramp seating and paper napkins. It's not fancy. It is good, and this is a place you have to come with friends and then share many different dishes. Enjoy!
