"Stokes Adobe is cozy and homey in the way that your chicest, most fabulous friend’s house is: floor-to-ceiling bay windows, an enormous bar, big leather booths, and a built-in bookshelf filled with books. The menu is short but thoughtful, with dishes that feel both pleasingly familiar and new, like the yellowtail crudo, layered over thick yogurt and topped with smoked trout roe, chili oil, black lime, satsuma mandarin supremes, and a shower of fresh dill. You can’t go wrong with the handmade pastas, especially the hand-rolled cavatelli tossed with kale pistou. End the night outside by one of the many stone-encased firepits with a bourbon and hachiya persimmon honey cocktail." - allison green, gabi moskowitz

"Named after a former owner with a checkered reputation, today this graceful historical residence wards off any hint of reproach with ample charm and warm hospitality. Beyond the accommodating service and handsome setting (which includes outdoor firepits ideal for enjoying well-made cocktails), diners here will be disarmed by the flavorful cooking that opts for substance over style. The small, ingredient-driven menu draws upon French and Italian elements, seen in hearty, satisfying dishes like the maltagliati pasta in prosciutto-parmesan broth, or duck confit with roasted apples and quince agrodolce. Comforting desserts, like an apple-pear crumble with vanilla ice cream, are a great excuse to linger—while sipping from a tempting array of after-dinner drinks." - Michelin Inspector

We came for happy hour, which was so fantastic, we came back the next day. The pizza is great, love the dough. And the Duck Mousse was amazing.

Duck liver mousse toast, pizzas and pastas were so good! I think I loved the pastas the most! Great cocktails also! For some reason this “American wagyu” dish was so bad! It was so dry and chewy. For $50+, I wish we sent it back. Hard to believe it was American Wagyu. Overall, I love this place. I’ve been here about 4-5 times and love the ambience. I hope they take that “American Wagyu” dish off the menu though or get a new steak source.

The evening began with a sense of calm—attentive service and great drinks setting the stage. The lager, robust and unapologetically full-bodied, hinted that this meal would be anything but ordinary. A broccoli salad arrived, laced with a surprising fish-forward note that teased the palate. Then came the wagyu steak, cooked to a true medium rare, its decadence heightened by the choice of sun artichoke, a refreshing break from tradition. But it was the bolognese that truly stunned me—an unforgettable masterpiece with beef and cheese in perfect harmony, the latter’s depth stealing the spotlight. The ambiance wrapped it all together with a subtle elegance, drawing me into the restaurant’s world. And yet, beneath the comforting layers of the experience, a twist emerged—a story behind the restaurant’s name that left me both intrigued and unsettled. What seemed like a simple dinner revealed a narrative far more complex. You’ll leave with a full stomach, yes, but also with a lingering sense of morbid curiosity.

Google
Dog friendly - outside patio with nice heaters and fire pit. Visitors in town. Absolutely loved this location, bathroom design, service and food. Price is a bit expensive, but really worth it. I think if you want to sit inside, you need reservations, but if there’s space outside, you can sit without reservations. I got the cavatelli pasta, wagyu steak, and dulce de leche beignets. All amazing taste. The only thing I didn’t like was the wavy wedges that came with the wagyu. It tasted like it wasn’t fully cooked. Overall good experience

Google
We visited Stokes this week with our family and joined as a party of 9. We had the best time. The entire group loved the history of the building and learning all about early Monterey but of course the drinks and meal was incredible. This is a perfect place for date night and special celebrations.

Google
Amazing experience! From the moment we walked in staff was friendly and welcoming! The food was amazing! If you are a texture person then you’ll love this place! I the chicken had a crispy skin with juicy meat, the steak had a perfect sear and the meat was tender! The potatoes were the perfect crunch on the outside but soft inside and the beignets were perfect! The staff made sure to make us feel comfortable and we’re super accommodating with recommendations! We had the roasted chicken, wagyu, beignets, and crispy potatoes

Google
We ate here tonight and had the best meal of our trip to California so far. Our server was super friendly and helpful. Atmosphere amazing. Really nice wine too. Would 100% recommend.

Google
This place was amazing! It's great for a birthday. The atmosphere is perfect! I had the halibut and loved it! The sauce was perfect with it. My friend had the bone in pork chop, and it was soooo juicy and cooked to perfection. I'll be dreaming of their food.

Constance L.

Yelp
Perfect spot for happy hour! Had a blast with my date ordering cocktails, appetizers, and mains -- all were great for sharing and all the staff were really friendly too. Even the complimentary chips were delicious! Duck liver mousse and pasta hit the spot; the four cheese pizza was a bit too funky for me but I really enjoyed the crust. I think the pizza could've also benefitted from a fresh element, especially since one of the cheeses was so strong (either fresh basil, or even a drizzle of basil or chili olive oil). Ambiance is lovely and perfect for a date night, plus there's free street parking.

Ken C.

Yelp
A surprising experience This place really surprised us. We tried the cavatelli and the seared Norwegian halibut. Both came in a savory herb sauce. The pasta was fresh and infused with crispy sausage and hot sauce. The halibut was perfectly cooked and very tender. The ambiance here is classy yet relaxed, service was quite excellent as well

TODD F.

Yelp
Well the steak was good along with the pork chops! The margarita pizza was bland, the chicken was nothing we would order again, salads... well just a salad, zero flavor, and soup was lukewarm warm! Service was less than desirable, not sure if they were short staff but the waiter kept apologizing for his inattentiveness!? But yet charged a 22% tip because we had only 6 in our party! Makes me wonder if they know they are getting 22% and don't care!? Ambiance is ok felt like we were eating in someones house, nothing id go back for especially for what we paid!

Mike Z.

Yelp
Wow! This place is amazing. After a little bit of stumble to start the night getting drinks, the staff killed everything else. Great food and service. Had the steak and it was cooked perfectly. Companion ate every bit of her salmon and didn't offer a taste. She loved it. Heard a bit of a ghost story about the building, not sure if it is true but I love that type of stuff.

Clarence E.

Yelp
Service is (and for the two times I've been here) impeccable. Friendly, genuine and really accommodating. 6 stars out of five, and that's so unlike me to go over the top, but well deserved! Shane put up with my questions and expectations, and Maddie was so nice making a guest feel special. Ambiance and service brings me back each time. Set in a house with 6 rooms each that have a unique character...that's the top. Now for food and bevvies. Dinner is the highlight for me hands down that would have me here daily or at least every month I head to NorCal and drive down for the weekend to chill. Happy Hour is a mixed bag. That's this time. The M&M cocktail Mescal based with Amaro and bitters was nice but the Old Fashioned took it. The Pineapple Fresca (tequila, pineapple, lime) missed the mark for me with a unique taste but more tart than fresh (too bad since it looked good). Perhaps paired with something that could hold up a candle like a key lime pie or salad vinaigrette but I digress. Pizza is a focus of the HH menu. Shiitake Mushroom pizza needed some EVOO to highlight the nice chew in the dough and shiitakes. But it was the pesto that muted the flavors, that's for me. Surely many would love pesto but I'm looking for fresh and take flavor profile one notch up. Soft pillowy with a char oven taste. Good. The Duck Mousse Toast was good but again a bit muted. I wanted more cilantro (sorry haters!) and briny gherkins to provide some acidity to smooth not strong at all liver mousse. Toast were nice but this is coming from someone who loves foie gras. So for those uninitiated, this is strong middle road entry into Duck liver. Would love to see some more acidity elevate the flavors, but who am I to say. I'll be back next time as I eat around the menu...but for dinner or at least ordering off that menu. Enjoy!

Yelp
Tried this place out because a yelp elite friend rated it as 5 star, and they were absolutely right! The broccoli cheddar salad looked exactly like the photos, but a tiny bit too sour for my taste. However, the tagliatelle was the star of the show. I've never had bolognese this creamy before. It tasted like it was a creamy rose sauce, but without the cream! One of the best pasta I've eaten

Ranice L.

Yelp
Came on a Monday night and didn't have to wait! We had our dog with us and they were very attentive. Enjoyed both the broccoli cheddar salad and tagliatelle bolognese (salad 3.5/5 - a bit sour and pasta 5/5). Would come back if we visit Monterey!

Shelli Q.

Yelp
Fantastic dining experience from beginning to end! Service was perfect, every bite was perfect. Noise level was perfect. Tried sunchokes for the first time and we loved them. The wagyu was perfectly cooked. Definitely get the broccoli salad and duck confit. Tagliatelle was so full of flavor. Save room for dessert -- affogato and beignets!

Andrea R.

Yelp
Great food, great service, great vibes! We shared the broccoli salad and the crispy potatoes to start with. Both were divine! For entrees, my boyfriend and I tried each of their pasta options. While both were good, the tagliatelle was something very special. The kale sauce on the handmade pasta was out of this world. Also, the complimentary wine for my birthday was very sweet. We were too full to try the dessert but maybe next time. Not sure if this is a plus or not - but be sure to ask your waiter if they have any spooky ghost stories! Our server had lots to share and it was a fun way to end the meal.

Tareq B.

Yelp
Amazing food amazing service, great ambiance. During car week this place is great to eat at. They have a plenty of tables and the historic adobe is very large. Parking is plenty near by.

Derek W.

Yelp
Our favorite place to dine on the Monterey Bay peninsula, we have been going to Stokes Adobe for many years (including the prior name). We always come here every time we are in the area including our wedding anniversary and weekends away. Their menu is excellent, craft cocktails are unique and delicious, and the ambience is incredible. Stokes is a historic building in the Monterey bay and I would encourage you to look up its history. We had the Tagliatelle and Halibut...outstanding! Their wine selection is great and my favorite, the Dr Captain Old Fashioned is fantastic. The bartender who created it was rated as one of the top local talents. Parking can be a challenge. If you arrive early, on the side La and back of the building is your best bet. Otherwise, you may have a short walk. The outdoor seating has many places to sit. They have fire pits and blankets available incase it gets cold. Give this place a try!!! You will not be disappointed!!!

Yelp
What a great little gem in Monterey! Located close to Downtown in a historic adobe--there is lots of great history there. You do feel the essence of being in a historic house, but the vibes here are super cozy. The patio was super cute and cozy as well with lots of torches to keep you warm. The service here is great. Our waiter Rachel was the best. She was super attentive, but gave us space to enjoy our meal. The food was delicious. We started with the wood fire garlic bread--make sure you get this it was a garlic, cheesy, baked heaven. I also got a cauliflower bisque--so good--the chili oil really elevated this. For my entree, I got the carbonara. This reminded me of cacio e Pepe, as it was very cheesy and pepper, but was yummy--with handmade pasta, snap peas, and pancetta, it was the perfect flavor and texture. Overall, if you are visiting like we were highly recommend this spot!

Rebecca T.

Yelp
There are many fine dining options in Monterey, Stokes Adobe included. I booked a same-day reservation for 5pm and was promotly seated on the outdoor patio. As the restaurant is located on a former adobe estate, the patio and interior were very picturesque. Service was nice, but it took a while to get our meals and bill. Food wise, I wasn't blown away, with the exception of the crispy potato starters (doubly fried and perfectly-seasoned with salt). My Alaskan halibut was just-okay: halibut was a tad on the dry side and the green pozole, while bursting with cilantro flavor, was overly salty. My partner's carbonara dish was okay, but nothing memorable. Our yuzu lemon olive oil cake for dessert was okay, but I wish the yuzu cream was added as a glaze on top, rather than as a sauce...and more of it, please! For the price and size/quality of the food, Stokes Adobe just misses the mark. Not the best fine dining option in Monterey, but it has a nice atmosphere!

Yelp
The dishes were impeccable! The cocktails were divine! The service was excellent! The homey, not scary (given the eerie story behind it) ambiance was intriguing yet cozy and ! It sure lived up with the hype, and happy that we got to experience coming and enjoying this resto while visiting Monterey. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
This review is long overdue. My husband and I visited Stokes Adobe in early May 2024 and it is hands down one of the best restaurants locally. The food...it's absolutely decadent. If you do nothing else for an appetizer, get the potatoes. Yes. Get them. The service was lovely, our server was a young man who gave very thoughtful recommendations throughout the meal. I can't speak to their wine list as we brought our own. The corkage fee was not unreasonable. The restaurant is appointed in a way that you feel comfortable and cozy but still elegant. Make a reservation, they get busy. Parking can be challenging.

Dexter F.

Yelp
It was great to see the return of Stokes Adobe. This restaurant looks like it has gone through a slight remodel and the outside patio is pleasing as well. The Waiter was really attentive and was able to set up my order quickly. I got here for happy hour at 4 PM and order a cocktail and a small appetizer. The bourbon cocktail was $12 and the appetizer, duck liver mousse Pate. I believe this was $14. Great to just lounge outside before my meeting.

Angel K.

Yelp
Came for a late night dinner and was not disappointed. It was absolutely my favorite meal of the trip. I loved the history of the building and how it functions as a restaurant now. The service was fantastic. We were checked on regularly and everyone was very friendly. The food and drinks were delicious! Highlight of the meal was the tagliatelle bolognese. The fresh pasta was chefs kiss! It was the best pasta I've had in a long time. There is plentiful seating here making it great for large parties. I will definitely be thinking about this meal for a long time. Can't wait to go back!

Michelle C.

Yelp
Came for happy hour and it did not disappoint. The outside patio looked really cute, but it was extra windy when we went so we decided to dine inside. Upon entering, the hostess was really friendly and had us seated right away. Our server was also super cool and nice. Also-- whoever was in charge of the aux cord understood the assignment! They were playing everything from Sade to Amy Winehouse and it really set the tone and vibes. Drinks were strong, well-made, and pretty to look at. Cocktails we ordered: * Tamarind Margarita ($12) * Bonal Cup ($12) - get this if you enjoy ginger beer! * Waldorf ($12) * House Old Fashioned ($16) - really good! Food: * HH Mixed Baby Greens Salad ($12) * HH Duck Liver Mousse Toast ($14) - not the biggest fan of liver, but wow all of the different flavors worked so well together! * HH Merguez Sausage Pizza ($26) - This was tasty, but I was still yearning for some tomato sauce. Couldn't really taste the eggplant. There seemed to be a discrepancy in the pricing that I didn't notice until after we left. The pizza is listed as $26, but on the receipt we were charged $28. So just something to be aware of. Other than that, this was a great place to catch up with friends or have a date night!

Morgan M.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing. We came for happy hour and also got regular dinner menu food and it was truly amazing. Service was 10/10!!! We initially wanted to sit outside but maybe come inside for dinner service. They remembered this and came to see when we wanted to move indoors which was so nice. Food was PHENOMENAL!!!! I was pleasantly surprised by the broccoli salad but wow CHEFS KISS. Pork chop was also amazing, definitely pricey but well worth it.

Tommy B.

Yelp
I talked to someone at the restaurant and they really made an effort to explain what happened and make things right for us. I updated my review to a 4 and we'll definitely be back to give them another try to get that 5th star. Thanks Stokes Adobe (and madi)

Claudia C.

Yelp
Great ambiance and nice outdoor vibes. Ordered the mushroom pizza, duck liver mousse, and pork chop. The duck liver was my favorite but all were very tasty!! Service was attentive.

J C.

Yelp
We were seated in a very pretty room with lots of windows facing green hedges, which was nice. Service was very good. Both of us really enjoyed our meals. The appetizer of sliced potato was especially delicious. Price was fair for the value we recieved. Portions were generous in size. Outdoor patio was a good sized space, charming and beautifully lit at night. The only thing that will stop us from returning is the haunted house/ghost issues. Read up on it. One of the staff said it is ongoing. That is too creepy for me, even though neither of us experienced anything when we were dining. If that doesn't deter you, this could well become a favorite dinner spot to eat.

Brady W.

Yelp
Excellent from top to bottom. Historic building with quirk and charm. Great service. Excellent food, best we had in our trip to Carmel. Broccoli cheddar Caesar and pork chops were standouts. Budino dessert was fantastic.

George C.

Yelp
Made a reservation a couple days in advance for July 4 weekend. We had a long day so opted for an early dinner at 430PM so that we could also take advantage of the happy hour(4-530pm)! Items are $3-4 cheaper for happy hour which is super worth it. They have a good amount of outdoor seating on the patio and some standard tables as well as fire pits for lounging around while hanging out with friends. There's plenty of street parking around the restaurant. For happy hour we ordered the duck liver mousse toast (delicious combination), the baby greens salad (seemed like a lot of cheese with a side of leaves) , cacio e Pepe pizza which was delicious, and the star of the show was the AMAZING shiitake mushroom pizza with a pesto base. We were still a little hungry so we ordered the pork chop and we were so glad that we did. It might be the best pork chop I've had anywhere as it was tender, juicy, moist and very flavorful and the breadcrumbs provided a nice crunch. If you order nothing else, you have to order the pork chop and shiitake mushroom pizza! Definitely would be back.

Lily G.

Yelp
This is our favorite special occasion restaurant. And yet it's also child friendly! We've dined here sans kids which is definitely more relaxing but it's been enjoyable each time. The prices are reasonable given the quality, preparation and atmosphere. Honestly the apps at sub $20 are about the price you would pay for far less delicious food. The most outstanding items we've tried so far have been the truffle pasta (it was a true A-ha moment, as in A-ha this is why people love real truffle (as a person who has never enjoyed truffle fries or pasta elsewhere) , any crudo dishes, and every time the crispy potatoes, deceptively simple but so decadent. There are a ton of little niches inside the restaurant to dine in from the old library to the wallpapered bar area. The fire pits out front are a must visit for a romantic Monterey getaway. Service is top tier, Michelin level and we just pray this restaurant secures this location long term so we can return for years to come.

Jennifer N.

Yelp
My husband and I took a spontaneous road trip to Monterey to beat the heat in Sacramento. The drive was not too bad. Some traffic, but we got here in about 3.5 hours. There was plenty of parking in back of the restaurant. We had made reservations in advance and got seated right away. We opted to sit indoors because the change in weather wasn't what we were prepared for (110° in Sacramento to 60° in Monterey). They do have fire pits in the front that are great for small groups and the bushes provided privacy from the road. As you enter, there is jazz music playing outside that sets the mood for a great evening. I believe this may have been a house that was converted into a restaurant. Very charming, two-story with gender neutral restrooms on the 1st floor. Our waitress was very attentive and we had great service throughout the evening. For starters, we ordered the DUCK LIVER MOUSSE TOAST, YELLOWTAIL CRUDO, & BROCCOLI CHEDDAR CAESAR SALAD. The toast was our favorite as it had cornichons, pickled shallots, luxardo cherries, pistachio, whole grain mustard, and assortment of fresh herbs on top. The salad was very different and I loved the chopped broccoli with freshly shredded cheddar lightly dressed with caesar dressing. The crudo was different as well where the sauce was nice and creamy. For entrées, we shared the TAGLIATELLE BOLOGNESE & SEARED ALASKAN HALIBUT. I forgot to mention I like my fish a bit more rare, but all in all it was flaky and almost fell apart in my mouth. Alaskan halibut is one of my favorites as I've had fresh in Alaska just caught from the ocean before. The sauce was a bit sour for my liking, but maybe it's because I'm used to having something a little heavier, so it was a bit of a change. The pasta is handmade and was perfect. Bolognese sauce was exactly perfectly seasoned as well. Buttery yet, satisfying. I ordered a glass of Rosé to accompany my meal and my husband opted for a mocktail that was deliciously crafted by the bartender. Overall, I would highly recommend for date night and is a chill spot in Monterey to have a meal with friends and family.

Trevor Y.

Yelp
Second time here. Came with a bigger group this time, so we were able to try more. On our first visit, we got the Snake River NY strip. We remembered this dish being incredible, but didn't order it because we wanted to try the Porterhouse dish. We had also previously gotten the shredded broccoli cheddar Caesar. I was going to write more, but we're just leaving now and I can only say that this place exceeds every possible expectation regardless of price point. Everything is done to a level beyond what you could bring yourself to believe is possible in Northern California outside of SF institutions and The French Laundry. I'm not being hyperbolic. Eat here.

Ellen G.

Yelp
Five stars EVERY time! A gem in Monterey! Service is a 10 with Stefan!! An absolute delight!! We don't go out often so it is very special ambience food friendliness !! We loved our wine choices along with radicchio salad! Main dishes were the fabulous pork chop and their autumnal agnolotti (pasta with butternut squash sauce). They make their pasta in house. The chocolate dessert with killer crunch was to die for...(forgot name) This is a special place for us .. who are very very discriminating..

Xinyue G.

Yelp
Pork chop and steak were both amazing. The ambiance was also perfect for a date night or special occasion. We started with salad and duck liver toast. Both were unique and delicious. The meat for our entrees were very well cooked. The only complaint we have is the broccolini that came with the steak. It was fried to almost burnt with way too much seasoning- a simple sautee would have been perfect. The potatoes were really good. The beignet was also nice and creative. Overall we enjoyed the meal and the service was attentive!

Michelle R.

Yelp
Found this historic sight with its unique atmosphere while on vacation. Shane made our night very enjoyable with his impeccable service! And what made it even better?...the outstanding food! From my appetizer of Shaved Broccoli and Cheddar Salad, to the ultra tasty pork chop and fennel puree, and topped off with the devine Chocolate Budino dessert; this dinner did not disappoint! We will be back next time we are in the area!

Kristy M.

Yelp
This is hands down my favorite restaurant in Monterey! We went here for our 14th wedding anniversary in time for happy hour, and also ordered from their dinner menu. The pizza and carbonara were delicious and satisfying, but the cauliflower bisque was the best thing I've ever tasted! The service was so friendly and attentive. Our waiter, Daniel D was so genuine that I wish he was my best friend. He brought us celebratory champagne, too! We can't wait to come back!

Robert K.

Yelp
Food was well prepared tasted good. Outdoor setting was nice. Service was good. I would define it as a great example of quality semi-causual Monterey California dining experience.

Rich H.

Yelp
Happy hour pizza was excellent. Main menu was thin on options and very small on portions for the price. Still a strong recommendation.

Jason L.

Yelp
Of course, thanks to Yelp, we stumbled on Stokes Adobe as we were researching places to eat while we were planning our trip to Monterey. Made reservations a week prior to our visit. Parking lot around the business is a bit small but there's plenty of street parking if you drive around. The building is an historic adobe home in downtown Monterey. Love how they retained a lot of its original structure, walls, flooring, windows, etc. Its like walking into an old home; warm and welcoming, but I'm not going to lie. I did get a sense of heaviness during our dining experience. With that said, I decided not to google the building's history since I'm 100% sure A LOT of things happened in that home. Back to the dining experience; menu is modern California cuisine where you'll see what's seasonal and local being offered. To our surprise, they do offer a kids menu and crayons which I whole heartily appreciate since my daughters are pretty basic when it comes to food. DRINKS *Zero Proof Stand Up Spritz - I gave up booze for lent so I was happy to see a mocktail on the menu. This was refreshing and felt like I was having a cocktail *High In the Saddle - I have to take my wife's word for it, but she said this was hands down the BEST bourbon cocktail she's ever had! FOOD *Caviar Potato Halo - visually appealing, crunch and flavors were wonderful *Yellowtail Crudo - good, but it was missing the heat and acidity *Wood Fired Pepporini Pizza - the crust, sauce, all of it... delicious!!! *Bone In Pork Chop - great char BUT it was cooked medium-well which made it a bit tough to chew through *Australian Wagyu Bavette Steak - love the crust and cook since it was served medium rare. The brown butter sunchokes were a nice surprise! **Kids Pasta with Bolognese - almost wish I ordered this for myself! Rich in flavors and the pasta was perfectly cooked I forgot our servers name but he was great from start to finish. Had a smile the whole time, made sure the kids were taken care of, never felt pressured, and was attentive through the whole dining experience. I think next time, we'll wait for the weather to warm up, show up early and enjoy a drink on their patio/fire pit before dinner.

Kent L.

Yelp
Great happy hour cocktails for $10. Beautiful patio on a sunny day. Absolutely must try the crispy potatoes which comes with a delicious lemon truffle crema for $12. Great for sharing and snacking. Absolutely will come back! Edit: after revisiting for a third time, I also wanted to give a thanks to our server Chise for her impeccable timing. She was super observant and checked in with us in the perfect intervals and our water cups were always full. Cherry on top was that just as we were finishing our last bite, right before the neurons in my brain was about to fire the signal to say "time to ask for the check", she was right there with the check! Excellent service by Chise!

McKayla M.

Yelp
Came here for drinks. The outside ambiance is perfect and the wait staff is so nice! We had a great time at the fire pits.

Melanie G.

Yelp
Such a beautifully converted restaurant. Prime location, easy parking (Friday evening). Rachel was our server and she was so very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the crispy potatoes which were insanely flavorful! The apricot cocktails were delish. I had the roasted chicken & my friend got a pizza! The dessert was the best part! Lemon cake & affogato (with captain+stoker espresso, which was a pleasant surprise). We did a ghost tour the night prior which highlighted some funky happenings and haunting attached to the home, so it was fun to dine there!!

Katie C.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for a Valentine's Day dinner and it was the best!! Our server was awesome and everything came out in a timely manner. We got a table upstairs and there was romantic French and quiet music playing as we ate. It was definitely pricy, but we knew it was a highly-rated restaurant and it was well worth the visit!

Alyssa M.

Yelp
This place was recommended by a friend for date night and it's a really cute, intimate spot. The service was great and the food was delicious just PRICEY. A dinner for two was almost $200 so just be warned. It was our first time trying duck and it was very flavorful, we just wished the sides were different. The star was def the crispy potatoes appetizer! Duck confit - 8/10 Pesto tagliatelle - 8/10 Crispy potatoes - 10/10

Maria I.

Yelp
The atmosphere is amazing, service is nice, food is hit or miss. The pizza was bland but duck mousse toast was exceptional! I wouldn't order cocktails there - I felt like the drinks and food were whole different departments in terms of quality. Roast chicken was good, won't recommend the halibut. Go for tagliatelle Bolognese you'll be safe. Overall not bad

Yelp
Overall 9/10 Did a last minute reservation for 1, and the service was excellent. The ambiance was darker than I preferred leading to poor photography. The food was good, and the duck toast appetizer was the highlight. More @vin.foodjournal

Yelp
Have been twice to celebrate special occasions and both experiences were very good overall. The location is the star of the show, followed by the food (which is excellent). The service was a bit disappointing. On both occasions, the servers forgot key items and had to be reminded (in one instance, several times). The intervals between check-ins are too long, so if you need more water or another round of drinks you have to wait longer than you'd expect at a high-end restaurant. High praise for the bar and bartenders who are fun to talk to and very talented with their craft. This place is definitely worth a visit, especially for a special occasion (birthday, anniversary). Just brace yourself for high prices and lackluster service.

Yelp
We came here for our anniversary dinner and i cannot sing this place's praises enough!! from the second we walked in i was impressed. staff was all incredibly friendly & knowledgeable. every single thing we ordered was delicious. we started with the crudo and butter gems salad i think it was called. both delish. then i had the cavatelli and my boyfriend had the pork but we ended up switching because we both loved each other's meals more they were to die for. try the pork!!! you won't regret it. our server was local and gave us some great tips about other restaurants in the area. 100/10 experience and will definitely be back next time we're in monterey

Yelp
10's across the board. In an old historic home, the most perfect choice for a special dinner, or even just happy hour with friends! Cynthia, the hostess, was so welcoming when we first arrived. Got there about 30 minutes early, but she led us to the bar while we waited and eventually got us sat at an earlier time than our original reservation. Manny, the mixologist, was amazing! Served my martini extra dirty, just how I like it. My mom made a request for a custom mezcal drink, and he did not disappoint! Once seated, our server Shane was quick to greet us and get our orders going. He coursed out our meal to perfection, also making sure to check in between each course. My mom, a vegan, was able to find great selections, and Shane made sure to communicate to the kitchen and to us what ingredients were being used. All around had an amazing time, and highly recommend for your next date night or celebratory dinner! Appetizer: caviar potato halo and olives, served with potato chips Entrees: scallops, and vegan pizza

Yelp
Hands down one of my favorite places to grab a bite when in Monterey. For the price... The surprisingly fancy and really good. It's a great value and fantastic experience. Both from the cuisine and from the service perspective....

Yelp
Everything from cocktails to our main entrees were great. We celebrated our anniversary here with our dog in the outdoor seating area which were heated by lamps. Service was great the waiter was knowledgeable on the food and brought fresh utensils when it was time for our main entrees.

Yelp
What a cool dining experience! This restaurant is located in a historical adobe just off the main downtown stretch in Monterey. There's multiple rooms for dining, including a loft space and outdoor garden patio with heater lamps. We had great, friendly service, our cocktails were creative and tasty, and we enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. The yellowtail crudo was recommended by our server and it certainly did not disappoint - the pickled Fresno chilis added the slightest amount of spice, but the secret sauce of avocado-buttermilk-herb crema really put this over the top. The broccoli salad was quite large for just the two of us and was borderline between a salad and side and deliciously creamy. The carbonara and the merguez pizza had great flavors, I especially liked the crispy bits of prosciutto on top of the cavatelli. The olive oil cake was the perfect finish to our meal, with soft strawberries and lemon yuzu ganache really paired well. It was served warm and had a nice crispy crust for some added texture. Can't wait to come back

Yelp
We went in on New Years Eve- alittle busy. A little bit of a wait but we were okay. It was a pleasure to have our kids actually experience a preset menu. They enjoyed it a lot. The food was delicious and my husband and I enjoyed the wine pairing. Our waitress Megan was amazing! We loved her vibe!! At the end of the night, the hostess checked on us and told us that because we had to wait when we got there, the wine pairings were docked off our bill and it was on the house. Wow!! Such a surprise and what wonderful service!!! Definitely come back when we visit Monterey again!!

Yelp
Great atmosphere in historic home. Super friendly, attentive service and surprising menu. Be sure to check this place out when in Monterey!
