Yelp
Of course, thanks to Yelp, we stumbled on Stokes Adobe as we were researching places to eat while we were planning our trip to Monterey. Made reservations a week prior to our visit. Parking lot around the business is a bit small but there's plenty of street parking if you drive around.
The building is an historic adobe home in downtown Monterey. Love how they retained a lot of its original structure, walls, flooring, windows, etc. Its like walking into an old home; warm and welcoming, but I'm not going to lie. I did get a sense of heaviness during our dining experience. With that said, I decided not to google the building's history since I'm 100% sure A LOT of things happened in that home.
Back to the dining experience; menu is modern California cuisine where you'll see what's seasonal and local being offered. To our surprise, they do offer a kids menu and crayons which I whole heartily appreciate since my daughters are pretty basic when it comes to food.
DRINKS
*Zero Proof Stand Up Spritz - I gave up booze for lent so I was happy to see a mocktail on the menu. This was refreshing and felt like I was having a cocktail
*High In the Saddle - I have to take my wife's word for it, but she said this was hands down the BEST bourbon cocktail she's ever had!
FOOD
*Caviar Potato Halo - visually appealing, crunch and flavors were wonderful
*Yellowtail Crudo - good, but it was missing the heat and acidity
*Wood Fired Pepporini Pizza - the crust, sauce, all of it... delicious!!!
*Bone In Pork Chop - great char BUT it was cooked medium-well which made it a bit tough to chew through
*Australian Wagyu Bavette Steak - love the crust and cook since it was served medium rare. The brown butter sunchokes were a nice surprise!
**Kids Pasta with Bolognese - almost wish I ordered this for myself! Rich in flavors and the pasta was perfectly cooked
I forgot our servers name but he was great from start to finish. Had a smile the whole time, made sure the kids were taken care of, never felt pressured, and was attentive through the whole dining experience.
I think next time, we'll wait for the weather to warm up, show up early and enjoy a drink on their patio/fire pit before dinner.
