The 38 Best Restaurants in Milwaukee, Wisconsin | Eater

"When the Black Shoe Hospitality team became semifinalists in 2023 for the James Beard Award for Outstanding Restaurateur, it felt like an acknowledgment of lifetime achievement. The group has a steady history of thoughtful comfort fare, including upscale down-home Southern food at Maxie’s and inspired (and wildly popular) breakfast provisions at Blue’s Egg. Story Hill BKC (that’s Bottle, Kitchen, Cup) combines the best of their efforts. It’s your hip corner coffee shop and a friendly local neighborhood liquor store — that is, if your local liquor store also offered shakshuka with local eggs and sumac mayonnaise, tender Angus sirloin sandwiches with shallot butter and truffle peppercorn mayo, smoked Yukon potatoes au gratin, or cedar plank trout. Accented by warm wood and top-tier hospitality, the restaurant feels like a happy hidden gem within Milwaukee’s most hidden gem of a neighborhood. Know before you go: You’ll need a few visits to truly approach the offerings from every angle." - Todd Lazarski

First visit was enjoyable. The food is of great quality, fresh, and nice presentation but overall I was not impressed. I enjoyed my meal and the service I received but there was not much wow factor with the food. I did not care much for the BBQ carrots because that amount of spice on an empty stomach was not fun. The crème brûlée was especially disappointing - it wasn’t smooth and was quite chunky. I normally have no problems finishing my dessert but I did not care to finish mine.

Google
Excellent meal fantastic food, even though service was a little shaky couple times forgetting things which actually worked out well the last item because we had plenty and didn't need the chicken on top of everything else. Of which everything we had I would order again and feel like would be the same for anything else on the menu...

Google
I reserved a party of 8 in their private room to celebrate my birthday. Not only was the service attentive and friendly, the food was incredible. Everyone said their meal was perfect. The cocktail flight was absolutely the right choice! I cannot wait to come back and visit.

Google
Food was beyond delicious. I got the chicken sandwich and couldn't believe how good it tasted! Bloody Mary was intoxicatingly good. Sat at the bar and Annie was absolutely wonderful. She even laughed at my jokes! Will definitely be going back for another delicious bite.

Google
Absolutely love storyhill BKC. The food, drinks, staff, and space are so wonderful. A favorite spot for dinner or brunch. The Crawfish Rangoon and Butter Chicken were creamy and delicious. Treat yourself and give it a try.

Google
Loved the crepe monsieur! Anything with their pulled ham that they make in house is amazing! I also appreciated that they were able to accommodate my reservation request after I had some challenges with Resy. Great service too.

Google
This has been on our list for a while and it did not disappoint. We enjoyed every dish we ordered and the communal sharing options available for the table. Unique ingredients and flavor profiles that weren’t too intimidating. Try the whipped feta, escargot and the rabbit. It was also incredible to be somewhere with a full bar and n/a options. I enjoyed having a latte since it was cold out.

Yelp
5 stars - and then some! This place is the real deal - it is fantastic in every way. We were in Milwaukee for one night, and got lucky and dined here. I can't say enough about the food - the chef knows how to create dishes with ingredients that work beautifully together. Every item is designed to be shared, but that's a big of a bummer - you'll want to eat all yourself. We started with the whipped feta dip - amazing!! It was creamy and bursting with flavor. The pomegranate molasses and the smoked honey were perfect complements to the bacon and feta. With the pine nuts, this dish was a super start to our meal. Our next dish was a smoked duck sausage - a seasonal dish. Made it house by the chef the sausage was not greasy or fatty - it was just right. I could have eaten that all night. For our "main" dish..we had butter chicken thighs. This was yummy, but not necessarily authentic Indian. That said, our waitress told us it would be more the chef's take on a midwestern version of the dish - and in that light, like everything else we had, it was a home run. And when it comes to service, our waitress Rachel could not have been more helpful or delightful. She is charming and happy, and has great passion for and knowledge about the food. If you go here, definitely see if you can be seated at one of her tables. She will give you great advice and great service. I literally have no constructive advice to offer for this restaurant. It's a little pricey (what place isn't these days?) but 100% worth it!

Yelp
The small company I work for wanted to celebrate our annual software release, so we met for a nicer dinner at Story Hill BKC. For my meal I went with the Confit Rohan Duck Leg, one of their specials of the day. In addition to our meals we got a few appetizers to share (the Milwaukee Beef Tartare, the Wisconsin Cheese Plate, and the Rosemary Brie Pull-Apart Bread.) I wasn't brave enough to try the beef tartare (medium rare is the least cooked I usually go), but those that did try it liked it. I liked the rosemary brie bread moreso than the cheese plate (again, I'm not adventurous enough for some of the funkier cheeses). The duck confit and polenta it came with were excellent. That's something I'd definitely order again if I'm lucky enough to be there when it's on special again. The biggest problem we had was the timing of our food coming out of the kitchen. There were only six of us in the party, so not a huge group, thus it shouldn't have been hard for all of our meals to come out sort of close together. Two people got their plates and waited almost five minutes before they began to pick at them. Minutes later two more got their plates. Again, a long wait ensued before the last two got theirs. The poor timing by the kitchen staff made for an awkward dining experience.

Yelp
I visited story Hill BKC last week for dinner with colleagues during a visit to Milwaukee. It was absolutely amazing. The restaurant has two sides--bar and dining room. We sat on the bar side, which was cozy and had high top tables. They also have a larger dining room that still feels quite intimate. The menu is designed to share and that worked great with our small party of three. The adult beverage menu offers lots of great options and I really enjoyed my rye Manhattan. For dinner, our group split several items, including the Milwaukee beef tartare the beef, short rib gnocchi, and the seared brussels sprouts. All were quite delicious., but if I had to pick a favorite it was the beef tartare. If one thing stood out more than anything else, it was the service. One of our group has dietary restrictions which I had mentioned when I made the reservation. Our server came over right away to make sure she understood the dietary restrictions and then came back with a menu that she had marked up to show what could be modified, what substitutions could be made, and what dishes to avoid. While we found parking relatively quickly, I could see that it may be challenging on the weekend with street parking being the predominant option. All in all it was a fantastic meal and definitely a place I'd like to visit again when I return to Milwaukee.

Yelp
We came at about 530 on Saturday and did not have a reservations. We were happy to sit at the bar and the service at the bar was excellent. We happen to hit the visit during happy hour so that was an added bonus. Mushroom pies were delicious, the special of the day was fantastic, but the highlight was the wild rice salad which included thick cut bacon.

Yelp
We were here for brunch. They offer just the brunch menu on weekends, FYI. (Wasn't able get order from regular menu for Saturday lunch.) The food was really good - the Bennie's are delish! They also accommodate special diets if needed. Service was prompt and friendly. Accurate orders and they allow for split checks. Ambience is quaint, super cute. There's a restaurant side and a bar side, and both are nice. They take reservations, which is a bonus on busy weekends. Would come back!

Yelp
Story Hill is one of the best brunch places I've ever been to based on their food alone. They have a rotating special brunch menu which always has the most delicious options and then they have their standard menu as well. They have select craft cocktails and delicious bloody marys! I love that the have a cocktail flight which I think is unique. They also have a bottle shop next to their table section that includes wine and a selection of spirits. Have not tried dinner here yet but would love to try it out!

Yelp
Grabbed a yummy Brunch before a Brewers game. Fast and kind service, and the food is extra yum. May have stayed for a second drink after eating- Aperol spritz, anyone??

Yelp
This place has been on my list for years, as many friends in the area have recommended it. I was able to grab brunch here with friends and it was fantastic. They had seasonal cocktails, mocktails, and traditional drinks in all varieties. We got placed at a high top in their bottle shop area which is dangerous when there are so many great options. They provide lots of great goodies that you can purchase and take home, including the N/A and alcoholic batched versions of some of their signature cocktails. I grabbed their frittata and it was delicious. Potatoes, eggs, bacon and so fresh. I would absolutely go back and would love to try dinner in the future!

Yelp
Been here several times before, but it has been a while (Milwaukee has so many great restaurants). Has a 6:00pm reservation on a Thursday night and got right in. Got greeted right away, and served waters. The drinks menu has plenty to choose from, and a nice selection mocktails. The menu is always inventive with plenty of choices. We like to try different/interesting entrees for sharing. We got; Roasted Delicata Squash, Butter Chicken Thighs, Roasted Agnoloni, Puttanesca Pork Tenderloin, and a Rush Creek Reserve Cheese Plate (a special). We loved "most" everything, especially the Butter Chicken, and Tenderloin. To be honest the Rush Creek Cheese plate was a little underwhelming. Service the entire evening was terrific. Friendly, attentive, with thorough understanding of all the entrees. We saved a little room for dessert and split some Chiffon Cake, Warm Cherry Pie, and Pound Cake. I nice finish to an excellent meal. The dining room can get noisy, and make it hard to hear at time. We will definitely keep BKC on our list of go to places.

Yelp
I have been here twice now and only for brunch. I don't get to Story Hill often but this is a great spot. The atmosphere is both fun and sophisticated. And the food is both delicious and inventive. The restaurant has been busy both times I've visited but I was able to get a seat at the bar. They have Valentine coffee. Service is always attentive and nice. I have had the shakshuka on my first visit. There are lots of variations on this dish out there. I liked Story Hill BKC's with its sumac mayo and smoked lentils. The naan bread is perfect for capturing the perfect bite. More recently I had the spinach and mushroom waffle. I almost overlooked it on the menu but I'm glad I tried it. It's a savory waffle with poached eggs, feta, shallot marmalade, drizzled with a little truffle oil and accompanied by broccolini and a small salad. The dish had a nice balance of light and heavy elements. There is a nice selection of desserts and bakery items. I had the day's coffee cake--triple chocolate. I tried to take small bites and enjoy it with my coffee. The menu seems to change from time to time and there were a few specials available. The people sitting next to me said that they'd never had anything bad there. This is definitely on the rotation when I'm in the area.

Yelp
Went to Story Hill BKC with a friend and enjoyed everything! Highly recommend getting a reservation since it was pretty busy on a Saturday morning. The service was still great and I had a very nice experience with our server. She convinced us to start off with a cinnamon roll (not hard to convince two girls on a sweet treat) and it was divine! I had a savory waffle dish, with mushrooms, broccoli, poached eggs and so much more. The dish was complex but the flavors all made sense. This restaurant's vibes are like hometown brunch spot and it was great seeing people of all walks of life there. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Omg... this place gives me ALL the feels! Ambiance A. Such a cool bistro vibe. Service. A++++. Sam is amazing. Across the board. Food. Such attention to detail. I can't wait to come back for dinner. I had to try the steak sandwich because it was such a glorious combination. #trufflemayo. The French Silk pie was beyond melt in your mouth. Sam suggested the perfect wine to accompany my sandwhich. a+

Yelp
The food, ambiance and service was on point. I love the cocktail called Brunch Punch it was delicious and had the right amount of kick! The portions are good especially if you are having cocktails with your meal. Two huge negatives for me: the parking situation was ridiculous, I lack patience especially when hungry, I'll Uber on next visit. Second a manager tried to get us to leave although we had a round of drinks coming when we told her she apologized. I prefer brunch venues that don't pressure a party to leave. Server was super awesome! I'll be back but I won't be driving.

Yelp
decent brunch spot in mke & overall yummy. easy enough to make a reservation on the same week for a sunday brunch. the italian crepe (on their specials menu) was a unique option and had lots of flavor - not sure what the sauce on top was made out of but it complimented the crepe well. eggs were a nice addition too. service was prompt

Yelp
Story Hill was great! Service was great and the lighting and music level matched! The menu was creative and everything we tried was delicious, definitely high up on my list moving forward, can't wait to come back! Everything from our appetizer to our entrees was delicious and I'd recommend all of them!

Yelp
We have now been to Story Hill BKC twice and have officially dubbed it our new favorite brunch spot in Milwaukee! The moment you walk in, staff greet you with a warm midwestern welcome. While the restaurant space is fairly large with two different rooms, the ambiance is intimate and welcoming. Clean, modern, and open, the decor is definitely inviting! The first time we visited we started with the sausage roll and the second time we started with the tomato bread. Both were absolutely scrumptious. However, the tomato bread is next level. I would seriously consider getting this all to myself in the first. Fresh, flavorful, healthy, and filling! We have tried four meals at this pint and loved each one! My spouse got the brunch burger both times and loved it! I got the crepe monsieur the first time and loved the umami and savory flavors. The second time I got the smash burger Benedict and thoroughly enjoyed the meaty savory decadence. Coffee is delicious and baked goods are top notch. We got a brandy chocolate chip cookie to go last time and ate it later on in the day...it was so worth the wait! Prices are reasonable and the space is clean. We look forward to our next visit to Milwaukee so that we can return to Story Hill BKC. It is well worth the trip!

Yelp
I think we found a new contender for go to date night spot in Milwaukee! The restaurant itself is a great mixture of relaxed and intimate. I have now been to Story Hill BKC a couple of times and have enjoyed everything that I have tried. I think the stand outs for me are the burger and the Crayfish Rangoons - so delicious! We will for sure be going back soon and I am so excited to try more from their ever changing menu!

Yelp
I have been trying to get into this place for brunch on the weekends which is next to impossible as a walk in and I found that out the hard way, this is not a place you go to spur of the moment with out reservations. Todays attempt would be go on a weekday at first open and I got a table as the place filled up around me. The place is nice in a modern casual way with a big bar, two dining rooms and a wine/liquor room in the back with a private table for 12. Casey was my server and did a great job working the busy room and still tending to me. I started with a spicy Bloody Mary which came with a pickle, good meat stick and a nice piece of cheese. The Bloody Mary was better than average and good. I ordered the shakshouka which is two eggs baked in a cumin tomato sauce, smoked lentils, cilantros, goat cheese and sumac mayo with naan, a flat bread. My brunch plate hit the table and looked amazing with a smokey smell. The eggs are baked in the dish so they are cooked hard. The smokeyness of the lentils with the cumin had a similar feel of a breakfast slinger plate from Missouri minus the meat. It was like a chili vegan breakfast breakfast plate. This dish is not on a lot of menus and when my server explained the specials I stopped her and I said I'm here for one thing and she said good choice because that's my favorite here. Overall this is a great brunch place with friendly staff and great food but make reservations before you go over.

Greg R.

Yelp
Five visits, each one memorable. We frequent many of Milwaukee's most expensive restaurants; Story Hill, much less expensive, is nevertheless one of our favorite dining experiences. Excellent food, creative dishes (I still dream about those heirloom tomatoes and burette last fall) reasonably priced. Small plates for sampling among a group of 4 is perfect. Looking forward to our next visit.

Yelp
Great service and atmosphere for a Sunday brunch, but the food was lacking just a bit of je ne sais quoi. brunch burger topped with sunny side up eggs, and cooked just right, but under seasoned. Kind of confused that they missed the seasoning of the patty so much, since I really expect much from Story Hill! I'm going to assume it was more of a fluke this time. I also had this egg omelette-like dish but I can't remember the name. It was fluffy and cheesy. It was good but not jaw dropping. mimosa ok, this, I definitely had better. So anyway, overall, I'm giving them 4 stars because I know they are better. I'm somewhat surprised that I was so under wowed this time.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Had the short ribs, carrots, crayfish rangoon and Brie pull apart bread. Drinks yummy too.

Yelp
My mom and I stopped in recently to try Story Hill for the 2nd time. Our timing has been off both times and we arrived during the awkward time where they shut down the lunch menu and before they serve dinner, however, they have an abbreviated menu you can order apps from. We sat at the bar and were greeted cheerfully. We apparently took too many menus, at one apiece, because another server came and took one away from us without a word. Um...? What? We then saw her switching out dinner menus and clocking out to sit at the bar, so I guess we were in the way of her shift end duties, but damn. Just ask us. We tried the baked provolone, which was amazing and filled with flavor. It does seize up fast though, so you need to eat quick. The mushroom flatbread was pretty much a perfect midday bite. We also enjoyed our BKCs and an Oldest Fashioned. Good food, nice atmosphere, uneven service. We will still try to go for a real meal.

Yelp
Wow!!! Food was outstanding. Squash and rice salad was so unique and tasty. Trout- phenomenal. Short rib with gnocchi was fabulous and tender- son said his pork tenderloin was the best he ever tasted- expensive but worth it-

Yelp
Time for an upgrade! While I used to be lucky to find one or two items on the menu here that I enjoy, I'm happy to report that that this has changed. Story Hill has moved into our regular Sunday brunch rotation in the past year. Nearly every time I struggle between one of the specials and a few of the regular menu items. It's good to have choices! Plus sausage roll FTW. Smiley face emoji.

Yelp
Our first time stopping in Story Hill BKC (which stands for bottle kitchen cocktail if you didn't know that, we didn't). It's such a cute place with a great vibe from their outdoor awning to their handwritten cocktails menu. The industrial style does well still feeling very homey and welcoming. The drinks were so tasty. And the baked provolone was the perfect snack to go with them. Just be warned: the dish the cheese is in is Very HOT. (Yes common sense should have told me that but I learned the hard way and even after watching me do it my husband also had to learn the hard way.) Great, friendly service and good deals on drinks. Also appreciated the note outside with recommendations on where to go during times they aren't open. Both helpful and great support of other local businesses.

Alex S.

Yelp
This is one of my all time favorite shareable plates restaurants. Located on Bluemound Ave, there is street parking only. We made a reservation although on a Tuesday evening the dining area didn't fill up much. I got there just in time to take advantage of their happy hour & decided on a sangria; delish! After perusing the menu, our server gave us some of her favorites so we went with burrata, mushroom hand pies, and the brussels sprouts salad. All 3 dishes were flavorful & well balanced. I think I prefer their brunch options over dinner but would not hesitate to recommend this spot to someone wanting some midwestern deliciousness!

Yelp
First time at BKC for dinner, and enjoyed it just as much as my previous lunch visits! My husband and I came for a little date night and we're sat in the bar side of the restaurant. In my opinion there's no bad spot to sit because they have a great all around atmosphere. We were quickly greeted with water and menus. My eyes went straight to the jalapeno Paloma - one of my fave cocktails - and Story Hill's version did not disappoint. Not too sweet, and just the right amount of spice. My husband opted for something from the beer list and it came in a big glass mug, love it. Different from their lunch/brunch menu, their dinner menu is more of tapas or share-able plates. They're made to order, so when you put a few in they just come out one by one when they're hot and ready from the kitchen. To our surprise we could only manage two plates because we were full enough after that! First was some sort of veggie/asparagus dish which we really enjoyed. It had a lovely sauce drizzled over it, along with what I think was crispy onions (?). Following that we got the pub cheese burger. And while that sounds like your basic burger, let me tell ya, it's not! Flavors galore with a steak house seasoned patty, tart cherry sauce, truffle mayo, pickles, bacon jam (omfg), shoe string potatoes, and dripping English cheese sauce. We both could not get over how good this burger was. Would love to try more of the dinner time items on offer so we'll be sure to come back.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! The decor is rustic and cute. A perfect place for brunch with friends and family! Definitely recommend the chicken pita, wild grain salad, and the cheeseburger.

Yelp
Story Hill BKC is a high end Midwestern restaurant with modern twists. I have heard many positive reviews and finally tried it. For the price, for the options it was slightly below a 3/5. The location is right off the high way. They are always full for brunch. Make an advanced reservation. They have 3 different menus throughout the day. I wonder if they have too many total items. Our staff member, Kat, was very positive, gave us a pitcher of water right away, and explained the menu well. Next to us, the table wasn't explained the menu, causing confusion (not Kat's table). They were, as I overheard, "lost". The dinner menu is ornately inflated with categories of "Taste," "Share," "Pass," and "Bindings." On the website. and as our server explained it's basically small, medium, large, and sides. There's about 18 options but many were a little odd or have red meat in it. There wasn't enough small ones I wanted even though they want to be family style, so I just got a large one. It's also hard to know the items they are. Now I see they do have helpful pictures of their food on their website. For example the meatball chicken is two average size meatballs. Roast Caulifower Salad was very good. The "dressing" was also great. This medium size app was worth the ~$12. The website prices are incorrect and lower than actual. The Beef short rib gnocchi was lukewarm at best, the meat was okay but needed more sauce. The gnocchi needed more gravy and tasted closed to a potato than anything else. ~$36 The Butter Chicken Thighs was solid, good. The rice was a bit dry. The rice and chicken wasn't hot. The naan was very hot. I wonder if I could make a slightly worse version of this with a premade sauce. You will probably have leftovers. But it was $34. They also have a lot of wine and beer you can buy. Oddly these aren't all on the menu. I bought a make your own 4 pack of unique beers after. I would have paid more for one during dinner.

Yelp
This is a great brunch spot. I've had a lot of different things from this place and usually find they are all good. Crêpe? Good. Shakshouka? Great. Since they've opened I feel as though that brunch menu got a bit smaller. I remember more variety in that first year or so. But what they do they do very well. Friendly service each time. I've always left happy and satisfied. If you haven't been here before I would recommend it. Just be careful if you are trying to walk in off the street. Every time I have been here it's been slammed.

Meaghan M.

Yelp
Went here for brunch this weekend and it was delicious. We sat at the bar and it was a great experience. The staff was helpful and kind too. Definitely wanting to go back for brunch and to try dinner there sometime too!

Yelp
I love the crepe items here for brunch! They have such an innovative menu this is one of my favorite brunch spots in Milwaukee. I also always had very excellent service here and the serving sizes are large to justify the bit of a higher pricing!

Yelp
Always a wonderful experience. Fantastic food and great service. No matter what you order, the fresh, quality, ingredients shine through. Everything here just feels a little healthier than other places even when you order things like the burger or a steak sandwich (which is amazing). Don't sleep on the soup here. Right now they have a Chicken Jalapeño Soup with masa dumplings and avocado and a Pork Rojo Pozole. Both are outstanding. Desserts: all I can say is do it. My friend had the Chocolate Chiffon which was rich and decadent. I had the warm Cinnamon Roll because how can anyone say no to warm, cinnamon roll with a cream cheese frosting? It felt like a hug in front of a fireplace.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food! Great atmosphere and attentive staff. My favorite is the steak salad.

Yelp
I am a recent transport to WI from Charleston SC and it was so nice to step into Story Hill BKC it had a real Charleston vibe, the decor made me feel like I was back in the south, the food was excellent, not southern, but excellent. We tried a bunch of different things. The meatball was awesome, but it is just 1 meatball, good for sharing if your good with only a taste, next we tried the watermelon salad, really unique, loved it! Next we did the smoked Yukon Au Gratin these did remind me of the south so good!!! The smoked ham added a nice touch, fancy comfort food great on a cold day, then we did beef short rib gnocchi, it was perfect! For dessert we sampled the upside down cherry cake. Excellent! Overall a wonderful dinning experience! Great staff as well

Yelp
Had dinner at Story Hill on a Saturday night. We were able to get seated right away. The food was incredible. It can be pricey depending on how you share the plates. We were with a group who like to have their own meal so it was pretty expensive . Our service was out of this world. It's been a long time since I have had such great customer service.. Shout out to our sever Cassie B. (Sp?)

Yelp
I have been to Storyhill BKC 5+ times in the last year and every time I go I am reminded how good this restaurant is. From the staff to the food to the cocktails it is fantastic. You can truly tell the people working there put so much care into what they do. Thank you for being a Milwaukee treasure. I will be a customer for years to come.

Yelp
Storyhill BKC is my go-to brunch establishment. The ambiance is chill and casual. The decor is adorable shabby chic mixed with a bit of boho style. There is a very small top-shelf liquor shop attached so you can also walk out with a lovely bottle of wine, beer, or whiskey. My favorite part of the bar area is the open kitchen. You can see the chefs at work and I just love that! I also love that they have a menu that stays the same all of the time and then they also have four entree specials typically consisting of a crepe, an omelette, an eggs benedict, and a random dish. These specials rotate frequently, often never repeating. They select their specials based on seasonal ingredients, so it will always be super fresh! You can never go wrong with the shakshouka off of the normal menu, but I always find myself gravitating toward the specials. Pictured here are my crepe carnitas, and the description for them is in the second picture. I loved every bite! The carnitas were beautifully seasoned and perfectly cooked - you could cut them with a fork they were so tender! They also make a wonderful bloody mary. You should definitely ask for their house-infused vegetable vodka, it's delicious.

Yelp
I made reservations for Saturday for two at 5:15pm which was an easy online booking. I received an email stating the reservations were confirmed and approximately three hours prior to the reservation time I received a text asking did I still want the reservation. I appreciated this as I have made reservations before only to get to the restaurant and have the host staff tell me the reservation was lost. The atmosphere was open, clean, and inviting. Once we were seated out sever Sam (who was phenomenal) introduced himself and asked had we been then before. Since we hadn't he let us know about happy hour, went over some highlights on the drink menu and explained how the dinner menu was setup and that the three categories were based on portion sizes. He then left and gave us ample time to decide on our meals. We stater off with the Wisconsin board which is a meat and cheese platter. The his platter could easily be the meal. There are various cheeses which are all fresh and served in ample amounts. The toast pieces are also fresh and large and sturdy enough to accommodate the cheese or meat in the board. The apples were fresh and the ham was amazing. Sam then brought a carafe of water and left it at the table who h is also a great touch. Running low on water while eating out is one of my biggest complaints. I had the grilled cauliflower salad which came in a bowl and was a generous portion. The salad was fresh, and filling. It was prepared in a light oil which was refreshing and not heavy. The other person in my party ordered the squash and bacon salad. This salad was presented is a pleasing manner and looked fresh. The portion was large but not so much so that an individual could not eat it alone. It had a light dressing on it and the greens were not wilted or browned. Next we had desert which consisted of creme brûlée and brown sugar cake. Both were amazing. Sam was an absolute joy to have as a server as he was extremely attentive and friendly. The fact that the kitchen had a semi open concept was nice as you could see into the kitchen which was clean and orderly. Restrooms were clean and easily accessible This was the highlight of my Saturday and I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a good restaurant with amazing food and service. If you can ask for Sam

Yelp
Story Hill BKC exceeded my expectations! I went for dinner for the first time and everything I had was amazing. The burger is comparable to a burger I've had at Emily in Brooklyn - the perfect amount of sauce, cooked to perfection and unique toppings. The service was amazing even though it was busy and our waitress took time to tell us about the wine in the bottle shop so we had to get a couple bottles. Highly recommend going with friends and sharing a few plates!

Yelp
Great food and we were able to use their private dining room for a group of former colleagues to have lunch

Yelp
Stopped in at Story Hill BKC for dinner on a Thursday evening. Had a group of 6. Me and a friend got there a little early so we asked if we could sit at the bar and have some adult beverages before we were seated. Totally accommodating and told us to find ourselves seats. They had a nice selection of cocktails and we were able to fry a few before dinner. Favorite was the Oldest Fashion. Had a nice group so we did family style and ordered a little bit of everything. All in all a solid dinner. I love the breakfast here, and they have different menus for breakfast, brunch, lunch, mid-day and dinner. Not sure if I'll get to em all but will try! #eatlikejed #storyhillbkc #mkeeats #nomnom #goodeats #cocktails #dinner #dineoutmke #yelp @yelpwisconsin Cocktails were great! Get the buttery bread, delicious. Escargot was nice, I like it usually with shell on, it's more fun! Salad was ok for me. Pork schnitzel was gigantic and delicious. Wish it had more gravy on the side but it was flavorful and crispy. Chicken schnitzel was great. Short rib gnocchi was excellent. Beef tartar was standard. Au gratin was good.

Yelp
Many people told me to give this place a try and I'm not a burger bar type person. You need extra napkins in order to eat the sandwich that I ordered Service was good since I came in right when then it opened. MKE winter parking is in full effect so street parking can be a nightmare At least I gave this place a try

Yelp
We had a party of six, four adults, a 7 year old and a 7 month old. I would not recommend this place for families. It took 2 1/2 hours for the meal. They forgot my grandson's order of chicken tenders along with one of our appetizers. They said it went to another table. I don't know how since there were no other children in the restaurant and the chicken tenders were off of the kids menu. The service was terrible too. We sat there for awhile with no food. Our server didn't even check on us to see if the orders were coming out correctly. Most of the food was tasty except for the pork tenderloin. Since this was a birthday celebration, it kind of put a cloud over the dinner.

Yelp
Enjoyed my first time here! Very busy during lunch on a Friday. My husband has dined here in the past and recommended the Shakshouka. Another friend recommended this dish as well. They were right! It's amazing. I enjoyed some Rishi tea with my meal. Waiter was very kind and helpful. Dining room was crowded and it was hard to hear my lunch companion at times. Prices were a bit more expensive but worth it for the quality of food. I found street parking easily in the neighborhood next door. I would definitely return to try other items!
