Suda's Review - Lincoln Park - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Suda’s is a family-owned and operated restaurant in Lincoln Park serving tasty Lebanese food.  While there’s a 99% chance that the pita and chocolate cake are pre-packaged, everything else here tastes housemade and fresh. Cold mezze, like the hummus or baba ghanouj, are barely seasoned, and will make sure you know you’re getting your recommended serving of vegetables. The falafel is crisp without being oily. Entrees are heavier, and focus on grilled meats and seafood, including tender and smoky beef kabobs and flavorful shish taouk. The small space feels a little nicer than casual (unless your table is in front of where those kabobs are being grilled). But that’s nothing an order of Lebanese coffee, which comes in a charming formal coffee set, can’t fix." - Veda Kilaru

Suda’s promised authentic Lebanese food in an elevated space and it delivered. The experience felt like having a home-cooked meal in a friend’s stylish yet cozy living room. Service was warm and welcoming throughout. The baba ganoush was delightfully chunky, smoky, garlicky, and perfectly salted. With juicy pops of pomegranate adding texture and sweetness, this was an amazing dish. Hummus was smooth and nutty, generously topped with sumac, parsley, and chickpeas. However, the chickpeas were oddly firm and took away from an otherwise great dish. Complimentary pita was good: lightly charred and crispy on the outside while soft and fluffy on the inside. The lentil soup was comforting and flavorful but needed a bit more lemon juice to brighten things up. Hence, I asked for some lemon and that did the trick. The mixed grill platter was overcooked to the point of being tough with bitter, crunchy charred spots. That said, the seasoning was fantastic across the board: bold, aromatic, and deeply spiced. The grilled vegetables were also unexpectedly delicious: tender and well-seasoned. My friend really enjoyed the rice and the makanek.

We had an amazing experience at Sudas Lebanese Restaurant! Every dish was delicious—from the perfectly cooked salmon, fresh and zesty tabbouleh, crispy falafel, to the perfectly grilled halloumi cheese—everything was bursting with authentic flavor. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, and the service was outstanding. A special shoutout to Chef Reena for the incredible food and to our server Aisha for the kind and attentive service. We truly enjoyed every moment and highly recommend Sudas to anyone looking for high-quality Lebanese cuisine in a beautiful setting. Five stars all the way! #SudasRestaurant #LebaneseFood #ChefReena #FalafelLove #HalloumiHeaven #TopService #AishaWasAmazing #ChicagoEats #SupportLocalRestaurants

Suda’s was an amazing experience. It is my second time there it’s been about a year since the first time and they remembered us. Suda the owner is so welcoming and let me tell you the food is out of this world. They recommend a family style meal that’s not on the menu, which was just perfect for everyone in my family. Thank you Suda’s for a great evening. You and your staff are amazing.

I had the pleasure of dining here on Mother's Day and it was truly a great dining experience. We ordered the grilled halloumi, falafel, chicken livers and one of each grilled entrees and they were all incredibly tasty and grilled to perfection. The baklava was actually the best I've ever had because it was so fresh and still warm but not overly sweet. What really made this dinner so special and memorable was because Chef Suda made it feel like we were dinner guests in her own home. She and her staff were very attentive and exceptionally hospitable. I highly recommend this place and can’t wait to go back!

I visited this Lebanese restaurant, and WOW—just WOW! The food is incredibly fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. Every bite feels like home, and the authenticity is unmatched. The owner is such a kind and genuine person, which makes the experience even better. Even though I’m coming from NWI , the trip to Chicago is absolutely worth it. If you’re looking for real Lebanese hospitality and delicious food, this is the place to go! Highly recommend!

Google
Had my birthday party here and was impressed by how at home I felt and how solid their kebab game was. We were a large party and got to try a little of everything and the cauliflower, kebab, and falafel all stood out. Got to meet the chef as she came out and thanked us for our patronage. Overall a wonderful evening.

Google
I’m not sure what was better - the food or the hospitality. Everything we ate here was a 10/10, but the group favourites had to be the chicken liver and Knafeh. Absolutely to die for. The staff were extremely hospitable, checking in at the right times, friendly and made us feel very welcome. They even threw in a complimentary salad and dessert. It was our first time there and definitely not the last. Thank you

We went to Suda's as a celebration dinner! It was phenomenal. From the service to each dish, it was a beautiful experience! My sister and I grew up eating our dad's Middle Eastern cooking and miss it so much now that he's gone. It's so lovely to experience the tastes again and have the hospitality as well. We will be back! Thank you, Suda's! You have our heart!

Yelp
I truly can't say enough good things about Suda's Lebanese cuisine. It would be enough if the food were just amazing, which it is. But what really sets this restaurant part is the incredible hospitality and warmth of everyone there. The restaurant is comfortable and inviting. And the staff uniformly is incredibly warm and wonderful. You feel like you're being welcomed into somebody's home. They go above and beyond every single time. We've eaten there several times and each time has been a wonderful experience, leaving us waiting to return. Most recently, on about a one hour notice, I called to do takeout for 10 people for a celebration. The food was not only delicious as always, but beautifully presented. They went above and beyond to make it an extraordinary dinner. Everyone who attended raved about the food. We are already counting our days until we can return to the restaurant in person.

Yelp
I found this restaurant prior to my weekend trip to Chicago, and was extremely excited to try it out because of all the positive reviews. The restaurant was cozy and all of the tables had cute flowers. We ordered hummus as our appetizer and then our waitress asked if we wanted to order the popular cauliflower dish as well. We said no and she told us again how popular it is. No complaints with the hummus. We then ordered our entrées, a chicken, Shawarma sandwich, and Shish Taouk. After ordering we handed our menus to our waitress, and she said she was going to leave one at our table in case we wanted to order more. We thought this was really strange because we ordered an appetizer and two entrées (only two of us eatting). The chicken shawarma and rice were tasty. The chicken (Shish Tapuk) was really dry and chewy. This was really surprising being the focal point of the dish and costing $24. The menu states they automatically add an 18% gratuity, I asked about this and she said that wasn't true so I tipped 20%. Unfortunately, this didn't feel like an $84 meal. We both felt our waitress was pushy and this alone spoiled the positive aspects of the dinner.

Yelp
One of my family's favorite places My favorites are the salmon and cod. Amazing service and impeccable vibes. Kind people who go above and beyond. So so so delicious

Yelp
This was our second time dining at Suda's and both experiences have been wonderful! The chef came over to our table and gave us some of her own recommendations, and they were excellent! The Arnibit was a must order and had tons of flavor. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Excellent service and food from a chef who knows how to create a delicious and delightful experience. The kenafi was a special treat.

Yelp
Enjoyed dinner here at this neighborhood spot for my wife's birthday. Even with an 8 person party at peak dinner time, service was excellent. The food and drink was A++. Everything from the apps to the main courses were outstanding. The very nice sous chef (daughter of the owner) said hello to the table and made sure we had everything we needed--even generously comped us two different salads to try and dessert as well. This is a very competitively priced restaurant in a city where you can often pay high prices for mediocre food. At Suda's you get your money's worth. Cute decor and very clean. We'll be back!

Yelp
Hidden gem! I have to give my charming companion credit for wanting to try this cute little boite on Fullerton, very close to Liar's Club! Plus, WOMAN OWNED! I was excited to try this, being a long time devotee of Middle Eastern food. Which also makes me a bit of a tough critic, but whatever, this place hit it out of the park! First wine! Had a very nice Lebanese Cabernet - very dry. Lebanon, specifically the Bekka Valley, is known for their delicious wine. I'd order this again, it was very good. Appetizers, of course, FALAFEL! Damn, this was delicious. Bright green on the inside, practically a requirement with me - nutty, moist and a very crunchy outside. Dipped in the array of sauces we had as well - baba ganoush, thoum and a yogurt dip. The adorable and friendly waitress brought out a couple more appetizers for us to try, and WOW - I'll come back for these. Baba ganoush - just great. So fresh, smoky and smooth. Garnished with pomegranate seeds, I couldn't stop eating this stuff. WOW. The other appetizer was a beetroot appetizer - beetroot cut up and covered with a tangy sauce. Delicious as well - if you like beets, and I love them, this is a good one too. The Lebanese people have perfected the art of the "snack dinner", and I will always love them for their delicious "mazza". No real need to order entrees, but we did anyway! BF had the stuffed potato cakes. Small round little hockey puck like things filled with minced meat. 4 on a plate, these were super tasty, and fit the "mazza" category. I ordered the Chicken Kofta special, and while it was a *touch* on the dry side, it was seasoned perfectly. It got juicy and delicious, though, once I put a little of the thoum (garlic!) sauce on it - WINNER. The dill rice it came with was perfection, a LOT of dill. I love me some dill. The owner/chef came out to dish with us after our meal, a charming, beautiful woman. I just loved this restaurant, couldn't help muttering "the food is great here!" to the couple coming into the restaurant after us. To which they said "we know, we love this place"! And now you know too, the food is GREAT here. Fresh, delicious, flavorful!

Yelp
YOU MUST GO HERE! Such a unique experience and menu. If you're looking for an introduction to Lebanese food, this is the place. Fantastic hospitality, products imported from Lebanon, and felt like I was sitting at a family dinner table. Would recommend booking a table in advance. They even have a tailored gluten-free menu. Definitely order family-style and try some Arak afterwards!!!
google avatar

Mariya G.

Yelp
A cozy family owned restaurant! Food was delicious! We had a large group and had no issues making a reservation in advance. We got to meet Suda herself! She was wonderful and friendly who recommended we get the mixed grill plate which we got a couple of and a bunch of apps to split. Their yogurt sauce is fantastic! The main dish took a while to come out and the only other complaint I had was we were seated right next to the grill area so it did get very smoky in there.

Yelp
LOVED this place! I forget how I came across it, but a friend and I tried this family-owned Lebanese place on a Tuesday night. The portions are generous with really good prices. Service was quick and friendly. Overall ambiance was simple, but the food was phenomenal. The roasted cauliflower was the best cauliflower of my life! I'll come back!

Yelp
Great food and service! Authentic but elevated Lebanese cuisine. The chef introduced herself. We were impressed. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes.

Suda's has amazing food and the best hospitality! They treat you like family, making sure everyone is happy and well-fed. My friends and I stumbled across this restaurant on accident, and it turned out to be the best dinner in a long time! Thank you to the talented, warm staff! We'll be back very soon!

Yelp
Lovely space, service, and dishes. The chef and her staff are so welcoming and serve some great authentic Lebanese dishes. Absolutely a favorite in the city

Yelp
Brought my dad in for a great meal at a beautiful restaurant. Service was excellent. We tried a bit of everything as pictured below As a Palestinian I must say the Lebanese knafeh was a miss for us. No hate, it's all love, but our style of knafeh is just the best! Will be back to try to meat platters

Yelp
We had the absolute best meal tonight at Suda's! Rina was so kind and gave us so many reccs - all phenomenal. Highly recommend the labneh spread, hummus, fattouch, lamb, grape leaves, baklava - it was all 10/10 (+ hot fresh pita!!) We'll definitely be back - this is our new spot!

Yelp
This small elegant restaurant has a very warm owner and staff, and having grown up in a lebanese american town i really enjoyed the food! The wine pairings were great too- just the right acidity to match the very fresh bright cuisine. We had the roasted cauliflower, tabouli and fattouch salads, and mutton skewers. The fattouch is a dressed salad that just is irresistible and a new desert island list item for me. The food comes out fast but at seating they serve a mound of grilled pita bread with dipping sauces. One was tahini forward, another sesame oil and lebanese spices. It really felt light, elegant and mediterranean, with lovely presentation. The minor drawbacks were only that the room was cold enough i brought in some coats to wear, and that i felt the mutton was overcooked and a bit too chewy for the genre. Everything was really great and we will be back!
google avatar

Cornelius J.

Yelp
The fact is this place is a hidden gem. I loved the food. The people were so kind! The food was amazing! I hope more people find out about this place! Music was great! Try the lamb skewers!

Marshall W.

Yelp
If I could give this place 6 stars I would in a heartbeat. The food is incredibly fresh and does a great job of appealing to different palates and flavor preferences. Portion sizes were great and the prices are very reasonable. However, I believe I'm burying the lede here; what really makes this place special is the warmth of the staff and the entire service experience. The co-owners come table to table, building genuine connections with tables all while working at an incredible pace. They are so genuine and kind and it's one of the places that feels like home. Also the baklava is incredible! Highly recommend!

Juliane C.

Yelp
We just enjoyed the most delicious meal at Suda's. The service was excellent. The ambiance was amazing. The food was incredible, topped off with baklava fresh from the oven. If you love Lebanese food, or have never tried it, Suba's is the place for you.
google avatar

Yelp
My first exposure to Lebanese food so I am clearly no expert. But this was a super enjoyable experience! Arrived right after they opened on a Saturday way underdressed and with no reservation, and the server was soooo sweet! She didn't even care and treated us with so much kindness. The menu has descriptions of what everything is and was reasonably priced despite clearly being an "upscale" atmosphere. I just loved our time here! Miriam was our server. SHE WAS AMAZING!
google avatar

Bryan L.

Yelp
Suda's offers delicious Lebanese cuisine in an upscale and intimate dining space. We came in a large group and got to try out a variety of dishes, all amazed by the flavors and beautiful plating of the food -- the roasted cauliflower (Arnibit), falafel, and baba ghanouj were delicious appetizers; among the mains, we loved the shrimp and lamb skewers, while the mixed grill offered a variety of meats; for dessert, the Knaef was a sweet and decadent standout. The prices here are on a slightly higher end, but the exceptional quality of the food makes it well worth it.

Yelp
Dined in a few times and ordered out once. Great spot for a wholesome/hearty Lebanese (Assyrian) bite. Baba ghanoush- 5 Hummus- 5 Dolma- 4 Lentil soup (traditional): 5 Lentil soup with : 5 Beef kefta- 5 Chicken and lamb combo: 5 Shrimp skewer- 5+ (Love the shrimp here!) Tabouleh- 5+ Fatoush- 5+ Torshi- 5 Tea Service- 5 Baklava- 4 The only baklava I consume are either Assyrian or Turkish variants. The rest do not compare. The taste here is perfection, but the dessert itself falls apart. Instead of a hand-held piece, it requires a spoon to eat it. I still order it, because the taste is right... the only way baklava should taste. Please work on presentation. Knafeh: 5+ Excellent taste and presentation. Atmosphere and Service- 5+ Georgina and Miriam are lovely!! I plan to use them for catering services, as well. Highly recommend!

Lily U.

Yelp
Everything we had was delicious! Lamb kebab, soups, beets, and cauliflower. They also have free fresh pita with verious sauces that are delightful. Everything has a freshness and wholesomeness that are like really good homemade food. Such friendly service and a cute, comfortable space that is upscale but not stuffy. Perfect neighborhood spot for dinner!

Katy C.

Yelp
Great food and friendly service! The cauliflower, hummus, and beef kefta were outstanding. Highly recommend.

Lexi L.

Yelp
I cannot recommend this place enough. The service was 10/10 and the food. Was so fresh and delicious. The place was so cute and clean and even Suda herself came to make sure things were to our liking. They start you off with warm pita and an array of dips. We ordered falafel to start and Arnibit (roasted cauliflower). I will be dreaming about the roasted cauliflower until I return. We also got a mixed grill plate and extra serving of kefta. The chicken was cooked to perfection, so juicy and flavorful with a nice hint of turmeric, but my favorite was the kefta. Lots of food too we ordered two plates for 3 girls and couldn't even finish

Yelp
Stopped into this brand new family owned Lebanese restaurant late night... incredibly warm, welcoming service... food was delicious... felt like I'd spent a few hours in Lebanon. The space itself is warm and comfortable. Could easily serve for both a casual night or a special occasion. Meal started with a briq of water - its a Lebanese tradition to share this pitcher. Essentially you drink out of the spout without your lips touching. Also had a Lebanese beer, an Almaza Pilsner. For appetizers we ordered the baba ganoush and red lentil soup. Baba ganoush was absolutely spectacular... like one of the best I've had. Soup was good but certainly not mind blowing. Next we had a lamb skewer. It comes with lamb, rice, grilled tomatoes, and onion... they also brought some pickled veggies and a yogurt based dipping sauce. Everything was delicious.. nice portion, seasoned perfectly. Finished with a small piece of baklava - it was heavenly. Don't skip that...

Palak K.

Yelp
Excellent food. Lots of vegetarian options. Staff is very friendly. Fresh food and tasty. We are coming back with friends soon.

Yelp
Went there on a Wednesday night. The waitress Mariam was very sweet and helpful. We had the labneh spread and halloumi cheese for mezze. They have unlimited pita bread and dips along with it. For main course, we got the chicken shawarma over rice. For dessert, the Knafeh was perfectly sweet. Overall the food is very flavorful and the presentation is excellent. It has a quaint ambience and great vibe overall.

Yelp
Amazing food and service!!!! The best authentic Lebanese food Looking forward to going again

Yelp
The last two years have been an absolute thrill for me in comparing cuisines from our old home in Los Angeles to our new home, here in Chicago. So far, Chicago has been whooping L.A., substantially: Chinese food - Win for Chicago Italian food - Win for Chicago French food - Draw Steakhouses - Win for Chicago Cheeseburger - Win for Chicago And tonight Mediterranean food - hands down win for Chicago. Our 'Go To" Lebanese restaurant in North Hollywood, CA, Hayat Kitchen was terrific. There was a time, my wife and I would eat there at least once a week. But, tonight at Suda's Lebanese Cuisine on Fullerton St. in Lincoln Park, it was just eons above any Mediterranean (and in this case, Lebanese) food I've ever eaten, including Hayat's Kitchen! Just walking into Suda's Restaurant your hit with aroma's, music and an atmosphere that just gives you lovely sense of "Please Come In And Enjoy Yourself"; it was very welcoming! The menu here at Suda's is a super elevated version of what Lebanese food can be. We had: * Tabbouleh Salad - with chopped parsley, tomatoes, mint, onion, and bulgar wheat - flat out excellent * Soujuk - dry, spicy, fermented sausage in onion and tomato stew was absolutely delicious * Yogart and Cucumber - with diced cucumber, mint, dill, parsley, garlic, and evoo was so refreshing * Hummus - I've had hummus all over the world and this version with chickpea spread with tahini, lemon juice, and evoo was one of the best * Beetroot Mutabbal - shredded roasted beets, tangy labneh (strained yogurt), garlic, tahini, lemon juice, and evoo / speaking for my wife, this was her favorite!!!!! * Chicken Liver - done pan fried chicken liver in onions and pomegranate molasses / now speaking for me......this was my favorite * Mixed Grill - beef, chicken, and kefta on skewer with grilled vegetables was pretty terrific * White, Chateau Heritage Blanc 2019 - this beautiful bottle of Lebanese white wine paired beautifully with every dish we had The service was fantastic, the noise level was soft and quiet and (once again) the ambiance was comfortable. I'm very happy our son turned us on to Suda's Lebanese Cuisine - it is now our choice to Mediterranean food in Chicago!
google avatar

Eric L.

Yelp
I had their lentil soup, chicken skewers, and their falafel. Everything was very flavorful and fresh. I think the highlight was definitely the chicken skewers. The chicken was tender and they paired nicely with the rice and roasted vegetables.

Jeries Q.

Yelp
Tastes just like home! Beautiful decor inside the restaurant, beautiful music playing the whole time! Service was great. Fast and attentive. The menu was great and i ordered so much and wish i had more room to order more food, will try more next time!

Yelp
The food...INCREDIBLE! Every single thing. The service...TOP NOTCH! They are so hospitable. The ambiance...EXCELLENT! It feels upscale but also warm and inviting. Well done Suda's!

Yelp
Food is amazing. Me and my friends enjoyed dinner here, the owner was super sweet. The ambiance is amazing. I am so happy me and my friends went to celebrate a good moment. The amazing time spend has created amazing memory. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
Do not miss this amazing place! My mom and I walked in on a very cold Wednesday evening and everything was warm and cozy and smelled amazing. The food was exquisite! Our server was just a doll and so kind. I honestly cannot say enough about how delicious everything was! Seriously, it was a phenomenal dining experience. Run, don't walk!

Yelp
I love this place. Moving here from a town that has a lot of Lebanese options, it was challenging to find a place that catered just to Lebanese cuisine - my favorite! Then Sudas opened up and I knew I had to try it. The place is really charming, and the service is always excellent. It truly feels like a family-run business that puts a lot of care into their restaurant as well as the food they put out. The food is excellent. The kefta with rice is my go-to, along with the pita and hummus. I've also had the chicken shawarma wrap and it was also delicious.

Justine S.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious Lebanese food, very authentic with an excellent and friendly staff to match. A must try Chicago restaurant!
google avatar

Ari L.

Yelp
Every table in the restaurant had dead flowers on them. That was a bad sign from the moment we walked in. The food was equally bad. Very little spice in most of the food. I would not eat here again. Lovely people but bad food. Baba Ganoush had no salt or pepper. Everything had way too much lemon in it. The bulgar wheat balls were flavorless. The grilled cauliflower was maybe the only edible food. But even that was average. Pass on this place.
google avatar

Sue H.

Yelp
We have been so excited for this place to open ever since we saw that coming soon sign up in our neighborhood. Turns out we dined on the opening night. Lucky we! This place delivers on authentic family-owned Lebanese fare. Chef has tremendous creds and great, subtle touch. We also were served by her delightful, well-informed, passionate daughter. She's a co-owner. All the food, decor and service were super. The cauliflower was especially dreamy. We were all mezze tonight and glad for all the tastes. Space is bright and lovely. Casual at exactly the right level. Run don't walk.

Yelp
Food was so great ! The service was slow only because they didn't have enough help. The waitress Valentina , hardworking and thoughtful kept up pace and always with a kind smile .... We didn't mind waiting ! The place so beautifully decorated and the tea set the use is gorgeous!!!!!!

Yelp
Best Lebanese restaurant in Chicago. My family and I came all the way from California and found the best restraint we could've ever ate at. The hospitality that Suda and Rina is amazing and makes you feel like you are at home. The hummus, tabbouleh, grilled cauliflower and every other thing on the menu is amazing and you won't find better. If you wanna have a good time have a bottle of arak and relax.

Karoline D.

Yelp
Go to Suda's immediately. We had a group of girls for book club visit Suda's this week. It was very cute and the food was delicious. The staff were excellent and attentive. Everything was quick. Suda came to visit and chat with us for a bit. She's super sweet and very passionate about sharing her culture with delicious food. We are the cauliflower appetizer- amazing! I didn't even get a pic because it was inhaled too fast. Hummus and baba ganoush were delicious. Can't go wrong with halloumi. They also gave us a complimentary appetizer, which was super yummy. For our mains we got the salmon entree, lamb kebabs and beef kebabs. The lamb and beef were delicious and tender, but I was obsessed with my salmon. I nearly licked the tahini sauce off of the plate. Highly recommend! 10/10!

Yelp
This place was recommended by a friend as a great Middle Eastern restaurant. As soon as we walked on, we were impressed. It's clean, classy, and impressive. We absolutely loved it! The food was fresh and amazing. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend Suda's and definitely going back.
