5 New Things To Do & Eat In San Francisco This Week May 18, 2021 - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"This new bakery in Rockridge opened a couple of weeks ago, and draws on Asian and French flavors to make pastries like ube snickerdoodles, strawberry Pocky cruffins, matcha cookies with White Rabbit candy, and more. They’re currently open on weekends from 11am-4pm for pre-orders and walk ups." - julia chen 1

Sunday Bakeshop - Review - Rockridge - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"We love a buttery croissant, but sometimes they can get, dare we say, boring? Luckily, there are places like Sunday Bakeshop. The Asian American and French bakery in Oakland from the Sunday Gather folks is doing creative things with one of our favorite pastries—filling them with sweet and savory ingredients like chocolate hojicha or sweet pineapple pork sausage and furikake, or corn cheese (yes, corn cheese—the incredible stuff you’ve probably scarfed down at your local Korean BBQ spot while half tipsy on soju). But Sunday Bakeshop is so much more. Incredibly moist cookies made with White Rabbit candy, sweetened bean paste, or ube, cruffins with strawberry Pocky, and other treats inspired by Asian snacks will stare back at you from behind a well-lit glass case." - Lani Conway

The 2021 Eater SF Holiday Gift Guide - Eater SF

"The Sunday Bakeshop team is known for pastry boxes jammed with Asian-American pastries. This year, they’re switching up their usual selection for the holidays and debuting some new festive flavors, from a turkey croissant with cheese and thyme to a pumpkin cruffin pumped with custard and topped with whipped cream, as well as cookies and bars." - Becky Duffett

This bakery has been on my wishlist for a while after I read about it. They do Asian inspired and flavored pastries, both savory and sweet. Of the two that I tried on this visit, the ginger pull apart danish was my favorite, it was the right amount of crunch on the outside and chewiness on the inside without being overwhelming. The other mochi muffin treat I tried I would pass on next time. They run a promo of 5 pastries for $20 right before closing so if you want to sample a bunch come near the end of the day. Super convenient and great location in the Rockridge area near lots of other popular shops.

Google
Excellent bakery with delicious, beautifully produced pastries and cookies. Highly recommend the custard topped, strawberry jam filled pastry and the Ube croissant. The matcha cream filled pastry was a little overwhelmed by the sweetness and abundance of the topping, but if you have a sweet tooth like me, it's heaven. The flavor of the topping was still very good and it looked gorgeous! My husband was disappointed by the ham and cheese croissant and said he thought it could have used a little more filling. If you are familiar with Bake Sum on Lakeshore, you will know what to expect in terms of flavors, textures and types of pastries available. Parking can be tricky in this neighborhood but side streets are a good option.

Came to pickup Lunar New Year Pastry Boxes and then picked other goodies. Fantastic pastries and service was great with the solo person working that day on January 27th! Got help getting all the boxes to my car! Received rave reviews on these boxes!

Google
Very cute bakery with innovative pastries. Loved the kimchee corn cheese croissant and the mixed berry croissant tart. Also notable is the ginger pull apart, milk tea blondie and the mochi muffins. If you go near closing time, they have a special going on which is any 5 pastries for $20.

Google
Ordered the Lunar New Year pastry box for pick-up at their sister restaurant, Sunday Social. Really impressed with the quality and variety of sweets. The box came with 8 pastries: a chestnut cruffin, nian gao New Year's cake, pineapple basque cake, dim sum cookie, strawberry eclair, char sui danish, spekkoek spiced pull apart, and matcha citrus tart. Our favorites were the matcha citrus tart, char sui danish, and dim sum cookie though truly all pastries were delicious! Also great to know there's a place to grab cruffins with Mr. Holmes no longer in business. Since the bakery is too far for me to visit in person, I really appreciated that they offered pick-up in the city. Will definitely be keeping an eye out for their other seasonal pastry boxes throughout the year.

Google
One of THE CUTEST little bakeries in Oakland and a must visit in Rockridge! The staff is super attentive and friendly. The entire place is minimal yet aesthetically pleasing at the same time and there’s a lot of attention to detail whether it’s the packaging or the little white rabbit candy wrapper on the cookie, or the drink menu on the wall.

Dianne Gong

Google
Strawberry Pocky cruffin, Thai tea bun, ube, dim sum and white rabbit matcha cookies! Dim sum cookie taste like a Jin dui!

Google
Tried 4 different pastries and each one was SO GOOD. I will definitely be back for the cinnamon sugar pull-apart 😍

Yelp
No wait on a Saturday afternoon. Shop is on a very busy street so parking will be tough. No indoor or outdoor seating. Everything was in stock and bunch of items on display was great for part of their decor. 9/10 Char Siu Danish $6.75 - Danish was flaky and buttery with a well made texture crispy outside and soft inside. Pork was also tender, good chunky bite size pieces and coated well in their chinese bbq sauce which was thick savory and a bit sweet. Solid overall but I would want more meat. 9/10 Ube Croissant $6 - Croissant is twiced baked so it is not the airy kind but rather the heavier and thicker but still buttery and soft interior. Ube fill was really good with solid ube paste which spread well inside the croissant. Needs more fillining! 9/10 Lychee Black Tea Chiffon Cake $8 - Sponge cake was soft and very well made as you can definitely taste the black tea. Lychee was not as prominent but still really good overall.

Yelp
Sunday Bakeshop is located on a busy main street, but they are a bit hidden / tucked away and may be easily missed. Parking is hit or miss because this is pretty busy area. I kept seeing them on IG and was intrigued by their baked goods / desserts. I came out of my way to come down here on a weekday afternoon before running errands, which was almost a 30 minutes drive in traffic. I also had to circle around a few times before being able to find parking and after feeding the meter, I excitedly rushed over to their storefront about a block over. Unfortunately, they were closed already when I arrived around 1 PM or so because they were sold out - almost 3 hours before their stated closing time, which was supposed to be at 4 PM. I wished that they would at least update their social media like IG that they were almost sold out beforehand or something to help avoid this issue for their customers. This was a wasted trip down here on a rather busy day for me, as I did a detour and went out of my way to come here - it was a disappointing experience because I sat for almost half an hour in traffic; sort of struggled to find parking in this area; and paid the parking meter just to find out they just closed. Maybe I would have to be back earlier in the day like in the morning or something to try my luck. I do not know, if I would be back because driving down here and parking in this area was both inconvenient and sort of a hassle, but if I do and they are open, I will update my review.

Yelp
I had Sunday Bakeshop bookmarked for a few years after seeing the tasty looking pastries in my Yelp feed. My mom and I came here after lunch at Becky's for some pastries to take home. There were a few people ahead of us but it wasn't out the door as other Yelp reviewers mentioned. So maybe waiting to try this bakery when it's been open for a few years isn't a bad thing? Since it was our first time, we had the chance to look at the menu. When it was our turn, I asked the employee her opinion on the twice baked ube croissant. Thanks to her recommendation, and my love of ube, I ended up getting it! In addition to the ube croissant, I got the Thai tea mochi muffin. The Thai tea mochi muffin has the softness and chewiness one would expect in a mochi muffin. Most importantly, the Thai tea flavor is evident. The ube croissant is flaky and the filling is not overly sweet. As someone planning to apply to medical school, maybe I should get the jar on the right. Love that they have dog treats as my mom plans to bring her pup here once the pup is more trained on the leash. I will definitely be back to try more pastries!

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY LOVE!!! I got so many goodies from here: a red velvet white rabbit cookie, brown butter chocolate chip cookie, earl grey tart, ube twice baked, strawberry matcha croissant, and pandan popcorn. They were all literally amazing. Everything was unique but executed so well. The cashier really helped us decide which ones we wanted, giving us feedback and opinions which was great or else we would've left with one of everything. It's a super cute and minimalist shop, right next to Boba Guys which is pretty perfect if you ask me. There weren't any long lines, surprisingly, but as we were leaving a couple more groups came so there's definitely business even during the odd hours. We also went on a weekday around 12 so some items were sold out already, but not enough to feel limited.

Yelp
Saturday 2024/03/02 13:00: - croissants and classic baked goods with Asian-inspired flavors - excited to go back in the future to try more of their many options - I ordered take-out in person Strawberry Matcha Croissant ($6.50): "Filled with a matcha pastry cream, topped with Strawberry cream cheese frosting, Mango Bergamot gel and white chocolate pearls." - huge croissant with very generous amounts of both matcha filling inside and strawberry cream on top; I don't recommend eating this on your own in one sitting like I did since I felt a little sick after - strawberry cream cheese was a little too sweet, especially with the addition of the mango gel - I felt the mango flavor was overpowering and didn't work well with matcha and strawberry - matcha cream was delicious but would be better with a stronger matcha flavor - croissant itself was soft and bread-y, more like a cream puff dough than a pastry dough

Yelp
Highly recommend the char siu danish. If you get it warmed up though just be careful it started to leak into the bag. Everything was so flakey and delicious.

Yelp
Unique pastries with an Asian twist. The atmosphere is aesthetic and clean. The place is geared towards younger crowd with their cute decor for social media postings. I felt a little rushed since their was a line behind me and I couldn't take a good look at the items available so I grabbed a few that caught my eye. Pastries are cute but I have had better pastries elsewhere.

Yelp
I had so much fun here and ordered way too much because everything is just so unique and different! If you're looking for unique pastries with Asian flavors, you came to the right place! Char siu croissant: 4/5 good flavor, never thought to combine char siu with flaky pastry yet here we are! It's a good fusion and unique pastry Mushroom tart: 5/5 surprise favorite, I loved the mushroom and cheese, great pastry! Strawberry bun: 4/5 tasted like strawberry pocky cream but I like that haha but it's a bit difficult to eat! Passionfruit guava bun: 5/5 also hard to eat but excellent curd, great flavor, star of the show for me! Oolong chocolate cake: subtle oolong flavor but a delicious small cake that was a great dessert at the end of the day! Chocolate Hazelnut Twice-Baked Croissant: 3/5 great flavor but actually a little almost dry? Maybe twice baked was too much for this one. Milk tea blondie was only okay. 2/5 More of a brown sugar caramel kind of taste rather than milk tea, so meh.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place out for the longest time and finally found time to over a weekend. I was pleasantly surprised that there wasn't a line. I got a mix of sweet and savory pastries, and I was definitely a bigger fan of the savory pastries. I love the asian flavors with the cha siu croissants and black sesame rice krispies. While the sweet pastries didn't hit the spot for me, I still think the bakery is unique and worth a visit for pastry enthusiasts.

Yelp
Small cute Bakeshop !! This was my first stop right after I was discharged from the hospital. I heard about the wonderful treats and so glad a made it before they closed ! Clean, cute displays of the items. Friendly service no cash all card which is super convenient. Everything I tried was amazing : banana creme pie with chocolate crust , raspberry mochi cupcake, popcorn !! I will be returning to try more items but everything was a hit !

Yelp
Cute little bakery shop tucked away on College Ave. Exceptionally well crafted desserts. I mostly enjoyed the earl gray tart. Well balanced with earl gray tea flavors. We tried a couple of their other desserts and also well made. My only downside is I wanted to try the banana cream pie, however missed the ordered when I asked. I will for sure return to try their other delicious recommendations

Yelp
Finally writing this review ... the pastries are so unique and tasty and not what you'd expect. Note that some are savory like the char siu cronut. The lobby is spacious and each available item for that day is displayed in the case with the description. You place your order at the counter and the fresh items are stored in the trays in the back My fav are white rabbit and ube snickerdoodle cookie

Yelp
Really great and unique pastries with Asian flavors. Ordering was easy and I liked that everything was displayed and labeled clearly to make ordering easier because you will be having choice paralysis. Croissants - really good! They also sell baked goods from Neighbor Bakery, so 2 birds with one stone. Both the Ube and Pistachio twice-baked croissants were excellent and had the nice almond topping that I love. The pastry was delicious, well-laminated, and good quality - better imo than the pastry from Neighbor Bakery which is also excellent. ----- My nitpicks - I've tried a lot of pastries b/c we're so lucky in the Bay in the wealth of excellent options, so the opinions below are personal and subjective to my taste preferences! Better to try for yourself and decide :). The flavoring/filling could be slightly more generous in my opinion and wasn't strong enough flavored for my palette. The ube flavoring could also be stronger, though in general most of the Ube items in the Bay tastes watered down in the same way that matcha does, so I won't be ordering this one again. The pistachio had a nice layer of raspberry jam that complimented well with the pistachio, but again I wish there was a bit more filling to croissant ration, and that the pistachio cream tasted more strongly of pistachio. The mochi cakes were not my favorite renditions of mochi cakes because of their consistency, harder and less flavorful than Third Culture or CA Bakehouse. The Thai tea flavor was too weak for my palette, in general I do wish the Asian flavor profiles were stronger. I also got a strawberry/matcha cube pastry from Neighbor Bakery. The strawberry and matcha cream was generous and well-balanced. I loved the flavor of the strawberry cream, it tasted like real strawberries. The croissant itself was not as umami as Sunday Bakeshop though. Appreciated being able to do a taste test side by side. I want to caveat this review with the fact that Bay Area baking is really top-notch, I was shocked to discover that in Europe and other places in the states pastries rarely stand up to even our middling offerings, so my nit-pickyness is subjective to the high bar that the bakers have set in the area. Thank you for creating so many delightful things for us to try! ------ I also got a loaf of their black sesame black garlic sourdough which was excellent. The black garlic gave the bread a savory umami flavor profile I really enjoyed, and the sesame seed crust was generous and paired well with the flavor of the bread!

Yelp
This has become one of my favorite bakeries in the Bay Area. Originally saw this spot while strolling along College Avenue about a year ago. They have a few staple but unique offerings (coco nib and milk tea brownies, Snicker Doodle, brown butter choc-chip cookies) and contour to add new goodies to their arsenal. They also have various tarts and sourdough breads like miso black garlic and country loaf. So many choices and they are all good

Yelp
What a coincidence that I actually came here on a Sunday! This bakeshop has many pastries and snacks to choose from and it's very minimalist and simple inside. I honestly wanted to try everything but instead, I bought the pandan coconut coated popcorn and the furikake chex mix. I'm a huge snacker so these two were SO GOOD it hit all my guilty pleasures. The chex mix had a sweet and savory taste just like any other furikake chex mix you'd find (my fave) and the pandan coconut popcorn had a good amount of sweetness. Very addicting, I couldn't stop snacking on it.

Yelp
Cute, Instagram worthy bakery, that's a whole lot more than just a nice picture! I'm loving the flavors they work with and it's fun to try new (to me) combinations. This spot infuses a lot of amazing flavors like ube, passion fruit, Thai iced tea, and more. Pro Tip: The display case is there to show you what's available, but you actually order and receive your baked items from the cashier.

Yelp
Holy cow- I'm a terrible pastry snob but Bestie brought a box of these and EVERY item was absolutely delicious! Savory- everyone loved the elote pastry & mushroom pastry. Black sesame rice krispy treat & Thai tea blonde w Mochi were SO good- not overly sweet, fab texture & flavor. I tend to get bored of sweet pastries after a couple bites but we devoured these. Popcorn which we ate the next day was excellent too. For sure headed here next time I'm in Oakland

Yelp
Received the cutest cake box from the Sunday Bakeshop x E'pume Studio collaboration. The flowers were beautifully arranged and the cake was tasty. The cake was perfectly sized (4 inches). Not too big and not too small. The cake was black tea, raspberry, and lychee flavored. I liked that the cake wasn't too sweet. The buttercream was light and lightly sweetened. Overall, this was an amazing box to receive. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I stopped by to grab a couple of pastries around 3:30pm (closes at 4pm). To my surprise there was a sale for pastries- 5 for $20. Awesome deal!! Considering each pastry ranges. Everything in the display case counts towards this deal but the worker there said it's a better deal to get the pastries considering the cookies were around $4 each. I got 2 of the hazelnut twice baked ($5.95 each), one ginger pull apart ($5.50), one elote Danish ($6) and one mushroom tart ($6). Prices in this previous sentences are if you bought them solo without the 5 for $20 sale. I also couldn't forget the furikake chex mix ($9) on the side :) I've tried their furikake Chex mix before at a Yelp event and loved it! So glad I could come to their storefront and support their tasty treats! The mushroom and cheese one tasted like I was eating a pizza, but better because of the flakiness of the croissant. YUMM. The elote tasted like what people would think. It does remind me of the corn and mayo buns you can get at an Asian bakery. Deliciousness, not too buttery. Highly recommend the elote one! So happy I got the last one of the day when I went or else I would have really missed out. The ginger pastry was sweet yet had that ginger punch. The ginger was definitely fresh. It did not overpower the pastry and it was quite intriguing. The hazelnut pastry was such a SO delicious. It was filled with Nutella on the inside with chocolate chips on the bottom and real hazelnuts on top. The flavors blended so well and I loved the crunch from the real hazelnuts on top. If I was looking for a sweet treat, this would be the ultimate one! Overall, yummy pastries, great deal at the end of the day, fairly easy street parking (pay at the meter) and friendly customer service. If you're in the area, definitely stop by! You won't regret it! :)

Yelp
I first visited Sunday Bakeshop almost two years ago and recently came back to the same pastries I've been craving ever since. Their fusion menu is so creative and staff very attentive and kind answering all questions. I highly recommend trying the kimchi corn cheese danish and the black sesame rice crispy that they offer. I can't wait to come back and try all the other options!
google avatar

Michelle H.

Yelp
I was underwhelmed with the flavor selection as I was under the impression that the cruffin or the charsiu danish are on a set menu. The ube snickerdoodle was good but didn't stand out to me. The outer crust was was crispy while the inside remains soft and chewy. The ube flavor was not very noticeable, it felt like I was eating a regular cookie. The milk tea blondie was delicious but I wished it had a stronger tea flavor to it. Loved the mochi pieces scattered around, it made it fun to eat. I saved the everything croissant for breakfast and it smelled amazing after warming up in the air fryer. The toasted sesame and poppy seeds added extra crunch and aroma to the flaky croissant. I was surprised there was scallions and cream cheese (?) filling, which made this croissant even better. Overall, cute shop to check out and support Asian American businesses. There's free parking around the block but if you parked on the street of the storefront it is metered.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious pastries with unique Asian flavors like White Rabbit, ube, and pandan. Staff is always friendly and ready to answer any questions you may have about the menu. They tend to have low stock later in the day so be sure to go early if you want to try all their offerings! Price point is a little expensive but worth it due to its uniqueness.
google avatar

Helen H.

Yelp
I've been wanting to check out this bakery, because they do Asian American, French inspired pastries. Luckily, there wasn't a line when I went. There were a variety of items I wanted to try, but I just picked two. I ordered the ube croissant and pistachio blackberry croissant. The pistachio blackberry is actually from Neighbor Bakehouse in SF. The two bakeries collaborate by carrying each others goods. Both of the croissants were flaky. Of the two, I preferred the ube one. I definitely recommend trying them for yourself!
google avatar

Kathryn V.

Yelp
Finally came to Sunday bakery. I got most of the stuff they were selling to try. Flaky, golden delicious pastries.
google avatar

Jessica J.

Yelp
Would you try a char siu danish? Sunday Bakeshop makes unique french pastries with an asian flair, but even their classics like the brown butter chocolate chip cookie are unreal. I've never had a cookie so perfectly chewy. My other standouts were the corn cheese croissant, lemon tea cruffin, & milk tea blondie. Least favorite was the strawberry jasmine crispy. It was too floral for our liking and just didn't stack up to everything else. Everything we tried: char siu danish corn cheese croissant thai tea milk bun brown butter choc chip cookie lemon tea cruffin milk tea blondie strawberry jasmine crispy Street parking only, but I had no issue finding a spot on the side streets on a Sunday afternoon. I heard they can also sell out of popular items, but everything was available a couple hours after opening so probably no need to rush/line up early.
google avatar

Angelica L.

Yelp
Overall: 3.9/5 Came late Sunday afternoon so a lot of the pastries were out. They don't sell the char sui danish anymore which is the main reason why we came. It was a bit disappointing overall but still worth the try, but definitely come earlier. Black Sesame Butter Cookie ($3.50): You can really taste the black sesame flavor but the cookie was a bit hard. If it was softer, this cookie would be a winner. It is big in size so it's worth the price. Pineapple Basque Cake ($4.50): This was a lot better than we expected. It has a very nice texture and balanced flavor to it. There are some pineapple pieces in the basque as well. Furikake Chex Mix ($9): This was really good and can get addicting so it's best not to eat from the bag. It's on the sweeter side and wasn't as savory as I thought it would be.
google avatar

Jaime N.

Yelp
Twice baked pistachio Croissant....was such a surprise. It had half a blueberry? Filling and the other something like an Almond filling. Sweet and dessert like with crunchy pistachios on top. It was amazing. I would like another. 5/5 Also decided to try the strawberry Jasmine rice crispy treat. Didn't taste any of the Jasmine but it was a strong strawberry. I wasn't too fond of this 3.5/5
google avatar

Chi D.

Yelp
Came here on a weekend less than hour before closing and was pleased to see that there was still a solid selection left (and no line!). The char siu danish is mouth watering and the croissants are flakey and their fillings are perfectly balanced. Creative and delicious pastries at reasonable prices! I'd be happy to come back again.
google avatar

Anthony W.

Yelp
This is quite an interesting patisserie with a lot of Asian fusion. I purchased the blondie, banana bostock , and the miso garlic bread. I have to say the miso garlic bread was outstanding, great flavor and texture. The miso adds an interesting flavor to the bread. Highly recommended. The banana bostock was also quite good. I really liked the caramelization around the edges. If you're a pastry freak, and you haven't been, do go.
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
Picked up a few items for dessert on a Saturday. Cute spot with a great offering of pastries, savory items and sweets. Especially liked their brown butter cookie and brownie. Didn't get to try their coffee but will be back for sure to try the iced Vietnamese coffee!
google avatar

Yelp
If you like pastries with an Asian twist, Sunday bakeshop is your place to go. I have stopped by a couple of times now since I was in the area and I think the items that pop out the most are the tea inspired ones, like the milk buns or the milk tea blondie, (Brown sugar milk tea blondie bar filled with chewy mini mochi pieces.) I really liked the flavor of the blondie, it basically tasted like a bubble tea drink but in eating form with small pieces of mochi to replicate boba and good jasmine tea flavor through the blondie. Also if you like tea flavored pastries the Strawberry Jasmine Crispy is a item to try. Jasmine tea powder blended with freeze dried strawberries and finished with strawberry Pocky sticks in this rice crispy treat. It was a good rice krispy treat but had the same tea flavor throughout. Also the chocolate Ovaltine croissant is huge and very very flaky. It's a Flakey croissant baked with a mix of malted milk and cocoa, then finished with Valrhona chocolate bars. So if you like you croissants flaky I highly recommend you try it. The Cocoa Nib Brownie was good as well. It is topped with crunchy pearl sugar and toasted cocoa nibs. I also had the Char Siu Danish A croissant topped with savory Asian BBQ marinated pork on a bed of sautéed cabbage slaw, then garnished with fresh green onions, and sesame seeds. I thought it was good but the char sui was a little fatty so would have probably been better warm or even broiled. I'd stick with the tea inspired items and the croissant for a 1st try but they have so many interesting items I want to come back and get more. Keep up the good work and the interesting concepts coming Sunday Bakeshop team.

Yelp
We stopped by on the way home from Tahoe this weekend and it was the perfect stop. The staff were super friendly and they made sure to heat up some of our pastries and everything was so delicious! We had a hard time deciding what to get so my husband just asked for one of everything! The mushroom tart is delicious and the cookies are so yummy. We love the black sesame rice crispy and we just love the combo of flavors. We have tried some of their items through local deliveries but were happy to have them fresh from the shop!
google avatar

Michelle N.

Yelp
With unique dessert flavor combinations like White Rabbit Cookies and Milk Tea Blondies, how could you not be interested in trying these treats out?? - PARKING - Street parking only, and it's quite limited. You'll also have to pay on most spots so be sure to do before being sucked into the desserts! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - They only allow 4 people in the store at once, and after you order, the staff member asks you to wait outside where they will deliver your goodies to you. They have a display case of the pastries they have available as well as bags of the packaged items. After we ordered, it didn't take more than 5 minutes for the staff member to bring it out to us which was quite fast as we had ordered a lot and he was the only one working. - FOOD - Pandan Coconut Caramel Corn ($8.00): I'm a sucker for popcorn, and this flavor combination sounded too good to pass up. Once we opened the bag, the smell of Pandan immediately came out which got us even more excited. Unfortunately the taste isn't as strong as the smell, especially if you get a piece of popcorn that isn't coated much. Still it's yummy but I wish the flavor was more prominent. Lemon Tea Cruffin ($5.50): Super flaky Cruffin, and the Lemon Black Tea Curd is DELICIOUS! If you enjoy tart things, you'll absolutely love this. It really is quite sour but in a good way, at least for us! Choco Ovaltine Croissant ($5.50): I've definitely had better Croissants from other bakeries, but the Ovaltine flavor does creep up at the end of each bite. They use chocolate sticks that stay whole rather melting into the Croissant, which I didn't mind but know it's not mixed into the layers of dough. Cocoa White Rabbit Cookie ($3.50): White Rabbit was one of my favorite candies growing up, and this cookie was so yummy! Nothing overpowered anything in this - everything was balanced! Dim Sum Cookie ($3.50): I was a bit disappointed in this as I was expecting more red bean paste. The cookie itself was very crumbly and was hard to eat without making a mess. Strawberry Jasmine Crispy ($4.00): This was the biggest disappointment as I was very hopeful for this flavor combination. Unfortunately my expectations fell short as the Jasmine Tea Powder made the rice crispy more bitter than I'd like, and there wasn't any sweetness from the Strawberry. It definitely looked better than it tasted. Milk Tea Blondie ($4.00) This was probably my favorite out of our haul! You can taste the brown sugar flavor in the blondie itself and the mini mochi pieces are little surprise bits mixed in. Each bite was chewy and delicious! - OVERALL - Some items were a hit, others were a miss. For the most part, I appreciated the efforts and could see how they would be really good if the flavors were more pronounced. Definitely try the Milk Tea Blondie!!

Yelp
Sunday Bakeshop is one of our favorite bakeries! Pretty much everything we've tried has been excellent. I always order the Char Siu Danish. A few minutes in the toaster oven at home and it's perfect. The pork sits on top of some sautéed cabbage slaw. The danish is super flaky and buttery. The corn cheese croissant is another one of our favorites. It's savory and sweet on top of a super flaky and rich croissant. The ube snickerdoodle cookie is one we always get too. At $3.50 it's a deal for how big and delicious the cookie is. If you plan ahead far enough you can order online a few days prior for pickup to ensure nothing is out of stock. However, there's no same day ordering so you'll have to walk in if you're hoping to stop by the day of. A few of the most popular items may be out of stock but for the most part, we've been able to get almost everything we like. Friendly employees and a very clean store. There's street parking along College Ave but it can get crowded on the weekends.

Yelp
I've been eyeing this place on Instagram for so long and finally got the chance to come! The pastries selections are very simple and the case is neat. The worker there was nice and helpful. He was very genius and gave me a cookie on the house! The croissants are amazing here! Highly recommend getting the cheese & corn croissant. The flavor is outstanding and I love the addition of green onions. The croissant itself is very crispy and flaky. It's definitely one of the best among the bakeries in the Bay Area. I also like their seasonal golden milk latte cookie. I love ginger and I am impressed that there are 3 different gingers in the cookie. The only down side is that the bakery has odd hours and is not always open. There's also not a lot of street parking and could get busy since there's a lot of restaurants nearby.

Yelp
Came here to get some desserts for Father's Day and I gotta say, the service is superb! The staff member helping me gave me great advice picking out desserts and was really helpful with getting them packed up well since I was taking them back within walking distance. And all done with such a positive and fun attitude! And the desserts tltastes great as well!

Yelp
This cute bakeshop is super aesthetic and they have very unique flavors of pastries. I got the ube snickerdoodle and it was huge! I expected the cookie to be a bit softer in the middle but it was pretty hard throughout. However, the flavor was an amazing mix of ube and coconut. If you like ube, I highly recommmend this!

Yelp
Their Thai eggplant croissant is one of the best pastries I've had in a long time, next to b.patisserie's kouign amann! The pastry is so shattering flaky at the edges and the eggplant and onion filling in the middle is SO GOOD. I'd order it as a full dish at a restaurant! Perfectly seasoned, salty and a little sweet, packed with flavor. I almost ate the whole thing instead of sharing it like I was supposed to. I'll be back to try their other laminated pastries! I ordered from Pastel, a little company that delivers food from local small bakeries and cooks to different locations around the Bay Area. I thought it was super convenient and they offer a wide variety from so many small businesses! Shameless plug (I don't work for them, I'm just grateful that they introduced me to Sunday Bakeshop and others) bit.ly/3qXbZBG for 25% off your first order and $20 off $40+

Yelp
Pastries will someday be my downfall - especially croissants. Been wanting to check this place out as I'm a sucker for croissants. There is currently a 4-person capacity inside the bakery which creates a line outside, but it moves very quickly. So...like a kid in a candy shop, I ordered almost everything there. LOL in order of our faves: 1/ Aloha Croissant: this was Baby Bear's favorite who's a big fan of those hot dog buns from bakeries like 85 Degrees. This was way better than that though with the flaky croissant outside! 2/ Pumpkin Pull-Apart (seasonal): this was my favorite - great texture and light in sweetness. 3/ Dim Sum Cookie: such a cool take on Asian desserts with the red bean paste inside the cookie. 4/ Banana Cream/ Chocolate Croissant (seasonal): chock full of "stuff" - from the whole stick of milk chocolate in the center to the banana cream inside and the bananas on the outside. It's a bit much for my tastes but the kiddos were fans. 5/ Corn Cheese Croissant: Big Brother Bear thought it was unexpected and "interesting". Baby Bear thought it was "good". 6/ Pudding: anything coconut and passion fruit really draws us. It was good, but not mind blowing either. 7/ Ube Snickerdoodle: was sooo excited to try this! I love Ube. The texture was great but it was slightly on the sweeter side to me. 8/ Coconut Cream Bun: loved the idea, but again the cream was just too sweet for our tastes. For context, I think I've been brainwashed by my mother to have less sugar in my life. LOL So I tend to prefer simpler pastries. As a result, loved the Pull-Apart and the plainer croissants and could probably do without the heavier, more complex pastries. Still worth a stop if you're ever in the area!

Yelp
Shut the front door, this place is dank AF. I wasn't totally sure if I was going to try it but decided to swing by since I was in the area. I love the emerging wave of Asian American bakeries and always make it a point to check them out. I read the mix of reviews here with some claiming delicious and others that this place is just hype, but I'm happy to say I cast my vote with the former. Flaky, savory, sweet pastries baked in the classic French style, but with the comfort flavors of my childhood? Sold! It's a bit pricey but not too unreasonable. Perhaps I wouldn't make a special trip out here for it, but if you're in the area, it's definitely a must!

Yelp
I came here on a Sunday afternoon and decided to pick out a few pastries to try. No line. Friendly staff. They packed my pastries pretty quickly. Lemon Tea Cruffin: Very flaky with lemon cream on top and inside as well. Milk Tea Blondie: It had a hint of milk tea flavor with tiny chunks of mochi that were fun to chew. Cinnamon Sugar Pull Apart: It had a sweet cinnamon flavor with a crunch. Pulling the pieces out to eat was very fun! 10/10 recommend this shop to dessert lovers! They have all their pastries on display and you just tell them which ones you want. It's a quick and easy transaction when there is no line. I love how they created French pastries with Asian ingredients! They are unique and captivating! I suggest coming when they open because some of their items run out pretty quickly!

Yelp
Fresh, delicious, unique, high quality baked goods. Each item was something special and there were so many great options to choose from. It was our first time here so we narrowed it down to 4 items which was a lot in one sitting. We starting chopping up each piece to sample and washed it all down with coffee from down the street. We ordered the pistachio croissant, ginger pull-apart, ham & cheese croissant, twice baked hazelnut croissant, and the Furikake chex mix. My favorite was the pistachio because there was an unexpected jammy filling which I loved and am biased towards. The hazelnut croissant was good too and I can see all the beautiful layers. They warmed the ham & cheese croissant for us which was nice. I thought the ginger pull-apart had a subtle ginger flavor and I'd prefer a stronger taste. I was expecting it to be softer in texture as a pull-apart. Lastly, the furikake is not to be missed. I almost ate the whole bag in one sitting the next day. It's extremely addictive and tasty! I'm excited to come back to see what's next on the menu.

Yelp
I'll give them a 3.8/5, but I'll be nice and round up. Saw their unique flavors and pastries so decided to come to this location vs SF because I thought I would have a better chance of getting their croissants here, but I was totally wrong. Came here on a Saturday morning and got very lucky and found parking right in front. There wasn't any lines when I was there and it seemed like they had plenty inventory available. In the display, they mainly had milk buns, cookies, and brownies. When I asked them if they had any of the croissants, the worker said they're trying to get rid of their older inventory first, so that was pretty disappointing. I ended up getting a couple of whatever they had and enjoyed most if not all of them. My favorite was definitely the milk tea blondie since it had little mochi bites in them. The milk breads didn't taste that fresh, but were still pretty good with the unique flavors. Still a bit sad that I couldn't try any of their croissants, but I'll try again with their SF locations and see if I'll get lucky there. The prices on these pastries are a bit pricey so they're not something I would get very often, but definitely a nice treat every once in a while.

Yelp
I first saw this spot on TikTok and knew I had to try it out sometime. I'm a huge fan of Asian desserts and pastries, and this definitely matched that description. I only wanted to get one thing this time, and settled on the dim sum cookie after seeing all the great reviews about it. It definitely did not disappoint! The cookie was huge, and had plenty of sesame seeds on the outside and red bean filling on the inside. The cookie itself was also perfectly chewy and tasty. It did remind me a lot of the sesame balls from dim sum restaurants! I'll have to be back to try more items such as the char siu danish and matcha milk bun!

Yelp
Mmm, good but not great. Not sure what it was, maybe just not my go to flavors to satisfy my palette especially with the cake ordered. Best thing was the Ube item ordered forgot the name. A baker good with Ube filling 4 out of 5. The rest mediocre, 3 out of 5.

Yelp
my foodie friend has been recommending Sunday Bakeshop for a while and finally we got a chance to visit last weekend. we were a bit disappointed though their menu was not as interesting as my friend described. we finally decided to try the ham&cheese croissant and mini chocolate oolong cake. the croissant was good, flaky and buttery, but the star of the show was the chocolate oolong cake. the cake itself was soft and we could really taste the oolong tea in each bite (yum!!!). highly recommended, but it is definitely on the pricey side

Yelp
Sunday Bakeshop has such an intriguing menu! Their interior (especially the display case) is so cute. I visited Sunday Bakeshop Sunday morning when they opened. There was a line out the door, a bit past their storefront. 4 individuals were allowed in the store at a time, and there was just 1 person taking the orders and told the customers to wait outside (if it's more than 1 or 2 items in their order) and then bring their order out when ready. Popular spot, and I can see why! Everything sounded so delicious, and I settled with the following items - Mango Matcha Cruffin - mmm I love the croissant muffin hybrids. One of their pricier pastries, but it's so good. Great texture and it's stuffed with the mango/matcha creams. Definitely a messy, yet tasty treat! Strawberry Pocky Cruffin - very similar to the above, but with strawberry inside and some strawberry pocky on the outside. Chocolate Hojicha Croissant - I love the hojicha flavor. The chocolate and the hojicha was really good, but the croissant itself was more on the denser side. It was OK, so I'd get this again just for the flavors and not necessary for the texture. Thai Tea Bun - OMG, I loved this one. I wished I got more than 1 because it was so good. The thai tea flavor showed and it wasn't too sweet. There was good stuffing and bun ratio, and it all went so well together. Yum!! White Rabbit Matcha Cookie - The display made this cookie look so good since it had the candy wrapper on top of each displayed cookie. The actual item does not come with the wrapper. The wrapper doesn't add on any flavor or anything, but it was so beautiful. The cookie itself was OK, probably the least interesting thing in terms of taste that I tried that day. Can't wait to go back at some point and try some new items!

Yelp
Ube Twinkie. Sometimes all you need is a clear descriptor of your goods. As a special featured item, Ube Twinkie certainly caught my eye. And upon tasting it, it captured my heart as well. Ok, too dramatic there, but you get where I'm going. Expecting a fluffy sponge throughout, I was surprised to find a little bit of caramelized crispness to the bottom of the Twinkie - it was delightful. Other aptly named items: Caramelized Milk Toast (really loved this), Thai Tea Bun (great flavor), Matcha White Rabbit Cookie (was fascinated w/ this, but was less of a fan of the chewy rabbit candy), and Furikake Chex Mix (love). Staff is super friendly and store is very cute / clean. Would recommend!

Yelp
First time trying out the baked good here. What they are known for is their savory baked goods. Very unique and the taste is exactly what you would think of when you combine the Asian savory flavors onto a baked pastry.
