Sunflower Vietnamese Cuisine

We’ve always said Austin has some good pho and Sunflower makes no exception. Located at the end of a shopping area, Sunflower is a bit unassuming. There’s good parking outside and the inside is simple and down to Earth. It’s a clean place with good service, very ideal for a quick pop in lunch, which is what we did. We only ordered the beef pho but they have a wide array of things on the menu like stir fried noodles and fried rice. The beef pho was delicious with the signature clean tasting broth. Their broth here isn’t as anise forward as many other places, which is actually nice because it feels clean and doesn’t give the after taste that star anise can sometimes leave. The beef was tender and flavorful and the noodles had the perfect texture to them. This is probably in the top 3 of pho places we’ve had in Austin so far and we’re pretty confident you’ll feel the same way when you go and give them a shot!

I love the beef vermicelli bowl so much. I already know i want that to be my birthday lunch next year. Its so damn delicious. The ambiance is fantastic. I love all the pothos plants in there. I do wish they sold some clippings. I also get the spring roll with shrimp only and it was so so good. This is my favorite spot. I have ordered from doordash before and the quality is still fantastic.

This is my second time dining here, and once again, everything was delicious! I had the Bò Né and the Vietnamese vanilla flan for dessert, both were spot on. And I loved how the flan was smooth and creamy but just a bit sweet to my taste, still delicious tho. Last time, I tried the bánh xèo and it was amazing too, crispy, flavorful, and packed with fillings. The staff is always friendly and helpful, making the experience even better. As a Viet, I truly appreciate the authenticity here and definitely recommend this spot to anyone craving real Vietnamese comfort food! Definitely will be back soon :) Update: I used to recommend this place to everyone and after this visit today, i won’t be coming back. Took a long time to take order. And ppl came after got service before us. No offer water or anything while we waiting until i asked. Bad customer service. It’s so sad that I actually enjoyed and loved their food.

A well-maintained and clean restaurant, with fast service and friendly staff. Another advantage is the diverse menu and reasonable prices. The beef pho had a generous amount of meat.

Our real estate brokerage team came here for lunch and we couldn’t have been happier! Even though it was busy, the staff handled everything so smoothly and our food came out fresh, fast, and delicious. Everyone ordered something different, and every single person left satisfied! The atmosphere is what really stood out , tons of natural light, beautiful indoor plants, and a vibe that feels bright and welcoming (definitely not one of those dark, gloomy spots) perfect for lunches, brunches etc Service + food + atmosphere = 10/10. Can’t wait to come back with my family next time 👌🏾👌🏾

I would strongly advise against ordering from this restaurant on DoorDash. I paid $16 for a beef pho that was comparable in size to a kids’ meal. The portion looked nothing like the photos advertised. There were very few noodles and only three small slices of beef. When I opened the container, I felt completely misled. For the price charged, the portion size felt like a scam. It’s hard to believe they aren’t aware of how small these servings are compared to what’s advertised. Extremely disappointing experience.

Great Vietnamese restaurant with a variety of authentic Vietnamese food! Sunflower Cuisine is regularly packed with customers. They have an array of authentic Vietnamese food to choose from and never disappoints. I’ve had the Bo Ne (Steak and Eggs), Lemongrass Beef, and Five Spice Grilled Chicken Lunch Special here. All delicious! Friendly staff and great customer service. Definitely recommend!

This has become my go-to spot for pho! The food is consistently good, and I especially enjoy the beef pho (7/10) paired with a Thai iced tea. On this visit, I tried the lychee iced tea and it was refreshing and flavorful. My friend got the lemon grass stir fry vermicelli (7/10). The service can run a little slow at times, but overall it’s a solid experience. The menu also offers a wide variety of options, which makes it easy to come back and try something new each time. Definitely a reliable spot when you’re craving pho.

Where to start! I lived in Austin for 12 years before moving back to the Midwest, and I had never been to Sunflower!? I was working with a client who told me it was where she and her family were going to go get dinner, and I immediately order takeout that evening! The food is absolutely incredible, the staff is incredibly kind, and when you walk in, it feels like home! I am back in Austin every couple of weeks and will definitely be making my way back here! So many thank you's to the staff for sharing your beautiful food and space with us!

I love this restaurant! I've been trying to step out of my comfort zone and explore different types of food, and this place created such a positive experience for that. I went for dinner with my aunt and daughter, and the restaurant was very clean. My aunt had visited once before and mentioned that the wait staff seemed more attentive at night than during the day, so that might be helpful to keep in mind when deciding when to go. I tried the Mi Toi, firecracker shrimp rolls, and chicken wings. My favorite was the Mi Toi--EVERYTHING was fresh! It really feels like they prioritize fresh ingredients, which we loved. I ordered the garlic parm lemongrass wings, and while they could have used a bit more salt, they were extra crispy just as I requested. The food didn't take long to prepare, and overall, it was a great experience. I'll definitely be visiting again!

The Banh Xeo was crispy and huge! I got the Banh Xeo Chay chocked full of fried tofu, juicy mushrooms, mung bean, green onions and sprouts. The crepe was super strong and crispy, slightly oily but not overly so, and the filling was plenty. BUT HERE IS MY ISSUE WITH THIS PLACE: 1.) the service is lacking when they are busy. Then it seems they start picking and choosing who deserves top tier attention while others get left by the wayside 2.) they serve non traditional herbs with the Banh Xeo. They only had mint, but they had no fish leaf, no sesame leaf, no CULANTRO, no basil. Most places give you at least four big huge pieces of lettuce for wrapping, and this place only gave two. They were stingy with the pickled daikon and carrots and they lazily used cilantro as an herb instead of more traditional Vietnamese herbs. Proper Vietnamese herbs are icing on the cake for this particular dish, so NOT having them was a disappointment though the crepe was great. 3.) they also provided non traditional sauces for the spring rolls and the Banh Xeo. The spring rolls' peanut sauce had some sort of red Thai chili sauce (?) thing going on, and instead of giving me proper fish sauce with my Banh Xeo, they gave me some sort of dark soy sauce with chili paste? No. I had to flag them down for fish sauce. All in all, the spring rolls were filling with huge slabs of fried tofu inside. I had to ask for the addition of basil to the rolls, though. And the vegan fried tofu and mushroom crepe was PERFECT minus the lack of lettuce and traditional Vietnamese herbs. 3.5 stars, but I'll round it up to 4

The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is very lively and bright. The five spice chicken lunch special is so delicious. They use chicken thighs so it's tender and it comes with an eggroll, cabbage and rice.

Sunflower is Viet-certified authentic. My in-laws are Vietnamese, and Sunflower is one of the restaurants they often rave about. We ate here for dinner recently. We ordered five dishes total, family-style, for four adults and three kids. The night's choices were vegetable soup, grilled beef, chicken salad, pork fried rice, and chicken stir-fry noodles. The food arrived in about 10 minutes, and all the dishes were served in another 10 minutes. Every dish was delicious, perfectly seasoned, and cooked for maximum flavor and enjoyment. I think the pork fried rice and chicken stir-fry noodles rival highly-rated Chinese restaurants across Texas. Some music was played during our time there, but it wasn't too loud, so we could easily enjoy our conversations. Water is served in decanters as soon as you're seated, which makes for a pleasant experience. Takeaway boxes were readily available for food we couldn't finish. Overall, it was a fantastic experience we'd love to return to soon!

Sunflower Vietnamese is an absolute gem in Austin! It's rare to find a restaurant in Texas that serves banh xeo, and even rarer to find one that does it as perfectly as they do here. The banh xeo is a masterpiece--crispy, golden, and loaded with fresh, flavorful ingredients. Every bite had the perfect balance of crunch and freshness, and the portion size was impressively generous. You could taste the care in how it was prepared, with high-quality ingredients and authentic techniques. Beyond the food, the service was welcoming, and the ambiance felt warm and inviting. If you're looking for a place that nails traditional Vietnamese dishes, especially banh xeo, look no further. Sunflower Vietnamese is a must-visit for anyone craving fresh, authentic flavors!

This lunch special was so great! The crepe was delicious and really crispy, slightly oily. The spicy shrimp was good, not too spicy and the peanut sauce was one of the best i've ever had!

I have to say it their shaken beef is not typical shaken beef. They add lemongrass to it and it's not traditionally done that way although not bad but it's not what I was expecting. The Ca Kho To, clay pot catfish was pretty damn good. And I highly recommend it. The restaurant is modernish vibe and is really clean. The food came out fast and the service was welcoming.

My friend introduced me to this place recently, and I really enjoyed it. It is more authentic Vietnamese cuisine than other options we have available locally, and the proprietors are so kind and excited to share their cuisine. I recommend venturing through the menu and trying different things, including drinks like sweet and salty fizzy lemonade, noodle dishes, and Banh Xeo -- Vietnamese crepes. Can't wait to come back and try more.

Came here after craving Vietnamese food and it was good, but fell short of being awesome for some very fixable reasons. We had the egg rolls, catfish clay pot, and shaken beef. All were very solid, and Id happily come back for my Vietnamese fix, but each dish fell a little short. The egg rolls were DELICIOUS and cooked perfectly, but the fish sauce they were served with wasn't good. We ate them without it because it took so much from the dish. The shaken beef was good but we weren't a fan of the lemongrass in it. It was also too heavily sauced, however the meat quality and cook temp was fantastic- lighten the sauce a bit this would be amazing! Overall the catfish clay pot was our favorite, but the rice served with the meal wasnt good rice. It detracts from the dishes- it was free with the meal but Id gladly have paid for better rice. If they tweaked these minor things Id say this spot is on par with some of the best Vietnamese in Houston! Service was great and ambience was nice- I loved the live plants!

Came to Austin the 6th time for my business trip from San Jose, Northen California. I've tried a lot of Vietnamese restaurant in Austin and this is the worst one so far. Came in Sunflower the 1st time last night, at ~ 8:22pm, ordered Sunflower Crepes ( Banh Xeo) and Sunflower Sea Bass (Ca Chien dac biet). The crepes came out 1st, it's just ok, not so good in my opinion, waited at least 20 min then the Sea Bass came out, I was very surprised, it's like a slice of fish (~ 2"x4" size), not the whole fish as I expected, $28.95 for a slice of fish? are you kidding me? very disappointed. Also, to be transparent, they should have photos next to the menu items. Asked myself if I ever want to come back, no never again!!!

My family and I love coming here for Vietnamese food that isn't your typical pho or bun bo hue. Love getting the super crispy banh xeo as well as the catfish clay pot!

I personally guarantee you that anything you order from here will be amazing! This place is legit right across the street from us and is our go-to for so many occasions. Each dish is packed incredibly well, and every meal is made with so much love. We've brought so many friends & family members here, and they have raved as well. To the point where it's a must for my mom any time she visits! The service and staff are also the best! Love all the plants in the front of the restaurant, too. I cannot say enough nice things. It really is that serious for me lol! Thanks for being a spot we can always rely on! I promise to snap photos next time!

This place is amazing!! I'm from California where there's a little Saigon in every major city. Upon walking into this restaurant I was reminded of home. The plants, music, and bustling of staff. The food was top notch! I had the grilled pork plate with rice and the banh xeo. The thit nuong/ grilled pork was season and grilled to perfection. The banh xeo was crispy and was served with best accompaniment of greens. I also want to shout out their fish sauce , it was the perfect amount of sweet. Go this restaurant and if you are missing authentic Vietnamese food. I can't wait to try their steamed fish and braised cat fish next.

Truly a staple dining spot to indulge in Vietnamese oriented flavors! Most Vietnamese spots emphasize their pho options, so it's great to find a restaurant that caters to a variety of options such as clay pot, stir fry, and noodle options! The banh xeo is a must to start off the meal to share with a party of up to four, as it provides fresh veggies and herbs alongside a crispy, veggie filled exterior shell. The butter noodles with fried prawns literally are so garlicky and full of flavor - I wish I could accomplish this intensity of garlic profile at home! Another must to help balance out your. meal with some more meat would be one of their clay pot items. I highly recommend the chicken, beef, and shrimp, as a it's a symphony of texture and flavor. The sauce is simplistic and savory, but not so much so it overwhelms. Overall, you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Most dishes are well portioned to share, so bring some friends and order up!

So delicious! It's a bit of a hidden gem- have been here twice and it's a chill, relaxed atmosphere with what feels like homecooked food. You can't go wrong with their catfish soup or claypot catfish.

Consistently SO good. Dishes are tasty, well balanced and pretty to look at. I love the varied menu options They have a really tasty garlic noodles with shredded beef dish not to miss. Also the lemo grass anything is fab! It's on the end of my block, so I get take out, eat in or get it delivered. So happy they moved into my 'hood!

Came here for lunch on a Sunday around noon. They were fairly busy, but it didn't seem like anyone had to wait for a table. The efficiency of their employees really stood out, they were very attentive and came to our table very quickly The Banh Xeo crepe was what put this location on our radar, I had never tried before and a crispy crepe made from rice and turmeric filled with mung bean sounded very intriguing. Unfortunately it ended up being less my jam than I expected. The outside tasted great, it had a nice crunch and was a yummy savory flavor, but the inside was at least 90% bean sprouts. There were a few noticeable pieces of chicken/shrimp mixed into the outside, but otherwise it was kind of just a bean sprout omelette. My partner tried one of the sizzling clay pot bowls, where again the crispy bottom layer sounded very appealing. That bowl also ended up being a disappointment unfortunately. It had a pretty strong burnt smell that overwhelmed an otherwise pretty bland dish. Maybe we came on a bad day, because the menu does seem filled with interesting options. I feel bad giving a negative review since the service was very friendly and efficient, but overall we weren't fans of either dish

Good service, decent menu items - not easy to find elsewhere. Lacked a little flavor for my taste - also , they ran out of chicken - which was a bummer. Cafe sua da - iced Vietnamese Coffee - was not as strong as I like it. But overall: worth a stop, especially since it is close to the neighborhood.

Took a friend that has never been, happy to see that Sunflower is still holding strong. Quality of food and produce is fresh and bright. Tried vietnamese coffee for the 1st time, I'm hooked. Had the vermicelli bowl with tofu, oh my so good. Huge portion, was good as 2 lunches for me.

I've come a few times now and can say each time I leave with a happy belly. We don't gravitate much from what we order and appreciate how it is consistently good! However, just a heads up that the portions may be smaller for some and the price point is a bit higher...but this is what was ordered for 3 with no leftovers. Sunflower Crepes - Banh Xeo, love how crispy this crepe is how it is stuffed with a good amount of mung beans/sprouts. We tend to order the shrimp and calamari version for the extra $2 to get some protein making this almost $20! Sunflower Prawns - Tom Rang Muoi, you get about 5-6 Jumbo Tiger Prawns and love how they kinda butterfly the shrimp and then batter and fry it as I feel it allows an even greater surface area to be fried. The buttery garlic noodles bring this dish together, honestly if they sold this a la carte I'd buy it in a heartbeat! Banh Hoi - This is a fun dish since you take all the components and make it how you like it. Since I like shrimp I tend to splurge for the minced shrimp on sugarcane which I really like to chew on and think it compliments the house sauces. Bo Luc Lac - Shaken Beef, this dish is packed full of flavor so I highly recommend eating it with some rice or another filler like the lettuce and tomatoes that are included.

I came here because I was really craving banh xeo and this was one of the few places that had it. The portion was huge! A lot of vegetables and a really generous size pancake. I liked it but wish it had more flavor and more shrimp but I did end up finishing it all. My husband got the pho and it was also pretty flavorful. The food came out pretty quickly despite it being busy on a weekend.

Terrible service - our waiter never came to check on us throughout our meal. It was a hassle to flag him down and when he came over, he did not notice our waters needed to be refilled. This is by far the worst Vietnamese food I've ever had in my life. I'm from Houston, so I've been to a good handful of Vietnamese restaurants. This one was disgusting. The food did not taste fresh and the flavor combination was a miss. It was general noise that created the ambiance and there wasn't any music that was being played.

Great selection of Vietnamese dishes, some hard to find items (bo ne, banh xeo, bun rieu etc.) Cha Gio, $5.95 Banh Hoi with Nem Nuong, $17.95 Bun Bo Hue, $13.95 Bun Rieu, $13.95 All the dishes were tasty as usual. However, we found the broths were underseasoned/lacking salt for our taste buds. Add more fish sauce and it's perfect (not on the table so you gotta ask Staff for some). I suspect this is intentional for those sodium conscious folks. Staff were very friendly. A worthy visit for your Vietnamese cravings.

Nut allergy friendly on their soups I've had. Review is for to-go pickup via GrubHub. I arrived about 25 minutes after ordering and my soups were ready and still hot when I returned home. I still like to boil soups when I get home to ensure the uncooked meats cook all the way through. We had the Pho Bo and the Hu Tieu. I love Hu Tieu and theirs is very flavorful with a good amount of ingredients, though I would've liked more pork and shrimp (4.5/5). The Pho Bo was a bit oily but had a rich flavor, definitely one of the better I've had in Austin (4/5). Overall a 5/5 for speed of service and quality for a to-go dish. I will say that I think their banh xeo (mung bean crepe) is pretty overpriced but I won't let that affect my rating until I try it.

Sunflower is a gem that I highly recommend. this restaurant delivers on every front--ambiance, authentic food, and service. It's the kind of place that leaves you eager to return. We ordered the shrimp vermicelli, shrimp&crab fried rice, beef egg noodle stir fry and had the wontons as an appetizer. My family and I shared everything. The food was delicious ! Every bite from each plate (chefs kiss). I was hesitant to try a new restaurant because I was starving however I'm so glad I did we definitely will become regulars here , I love the cleanliness of the restaurant and the attentiveness of the staff . The food came out within 10-15 min of ordering. Cannot wait to return !

Food and service were 5/5! We ordered a bun rieu noodle soup, and grilled pork vermicelli plate. The cha gio egg rolls that came with the grilled plate were crunchy even though it was for to go. The bun rieu was very hot, and separated in different containers. The two drinks we ordered were the lemonade and lychee drink. We weren't a huge fan of them and will probably get something else next time

This is the best pho I have ever had & I hope everyone can try it too! I've been eating the food here for about a year & it always tastes so incredibly delicious. The toppings are always so refreshing , the meat is so fresh & good also the meatballs are my absolute favorite!! I always order this to go & they never ever miss it always hits the spot. I also love to get the vegan imperial rolls (cha gio chay) they're so GOOD. The Thai tea is also soooo good especially with coconut milk. I've only dined in once & the service was amazing , it's also so cute inside with all the plants. Such a wonderful place. These are all different photos of the times I've ordered from here. We came here for lunch before having to fly home and honestly best choice really. After a weekend full of heavy food and drinking, we all just wanted pho. The service was really good and so was the Vietnamese coffee and the pho. Broth was very flavorful and serving was large. Would definitely come back but I'm not sure when I'll be back in Austin haha.

Very expansive vegan menu. Even let you make vegan certain drinks such as Thai tea and iced coffee. Iced coffee didn't have any sugar so I'd request that. Our server was friendly, and all of our food came out super fast. We ordered the vegan spring rolls, vegetarian imperial rolls, vegan crepe, garlic vegetable stir fry with bok choy, tofu lemongrass, shaken tofu. Favorite dishes were the vegan crepe, tofu lemongrass, and garlic vegetable stir fry. Garlic vegetable stir fry had a lot of sauce. Everything was really flavorful and proportions were a good size. We will be coming back.

It's generally pretty hard to find good Asian food in Austin, but we were pretty happy to stumble upon this awesome Vietnamese spot. Spontaneously came in here for lunch one day and we were quite impressed as Vietnamese people that the food here was so good and tasted just like our mom's home-cooked food! The menu is pretty expansive and has unique specialty dishes, all of the favorites and fitting for any craving. We've dined in and gotten takeout - both times, super good! Things we've tried here that were all good: - Bun Rieu - Canh Chua with Cá - Cha Gio - Fried Tofu - Bo Ne - Bo Xao Scallop - Ca Hap This place is our go-to for all Vietnamese food cravings, best Viet food I've had in Austin thus far. Huge restaurant, never seems to have a wait and the food comes out quick. Service is nice, plenty of parking, only complaint I would have is the prices. They seem pretty overpriced for typical Vietnamese food but honestly worth it if you make the trip since the food is so good!

It's been a while since we ate here of took out and honestly I was blown away by the quality, value and execution at this establishment. We took out, getting salad with chicken, vegi imperial rolls (fried), shrimp fried rice and wonton soup. Everything was absolutely fresh and delicious. I tend to eat more Thai than Vietnamese food but I need to put this on the rotation more frequently. 10/10

Surprisingly really good. I didn't have high expectations considering it's Austin and the restaurant was empty but I'm impressed. The best dish we ordered was canh chua. It was perfect and not too sweet like other restaurants usually make them. The catfish was tender and the soup was super comforting. Tasted just like home. Egg rolls and thịt nướng were perfectly seasoned in the vermicelli bowl. The bánh xèo was also perfect. So crispy! Even after 10 minutes when I was actually able to eat since I was feeding my kids. I wish the shrimp and pork weren't finely cut but that's just personal preference. We also got a Thai tea but it was a little bland and didn't have a strong Thai tea flavor. Will definitely be back to try the bánh hỏi and get more egg rolls. :)

Over the weekend, my family and I took a trip to Austin, Texas, and decided to try out a local restaurant. We had a great experience at this place! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the atmosphere all the more enjoyable. As for the food, I ordered the Grilled Lemongrass Meat - Pork Chop, and my husband ordered the Pho Bo (Beef Pho). I have to say, the dishes exceeded our expectations! The grilled pork chop had the perfect amount of flavor, and the portion for me was big two people can eat. The beef pho was also delicious, with a rich and savory broth that was exactly what we were craving. Overall, we were very satisfied with our meals and would definitely recommend this restaurant to others looking for a great dining experience in Austin.

Great Vietnamese comfort food! They have an extensive menu that isn't limited to the typical pho (and I don't think they have banh mi). Instead they have some more traditional dishes. The canh chua is super comforting. We also like their shaking beef and I recently tried their fried tilapia which I enjoyed. The staff is fairly attentive. The only issue I have is that their portions are in the slightly smaller side which makes it hard to do family style with a larger group of people. We like their salt and pepper calamari but it really feels mostly aromatics and not much squid. Otherwise a very solid choice. I do miss their old location off 183 but we'll make the drive!

Placed a big take out order over the weekend and was very impressed with the crispiness of the Banh xeo after riding all the way to south Austin in the foam container! The Bun rieu was also very good. I reheated the broth and arranged in a bowl, the amount of herbs and veggies were good. They were also very fresh and nicely prepared. I had higher hopes for the salt and pepper calamari, Tamarind fish, and canh chua. The calamari was very rubbery and did not have a palateable texture, possibly from the long delivery trip. Although the Banh xeo was perfectly crispy.. I Was expecting a whole intact fried fish but I guess nugget style is okay too. Perhaps this dish is best served "dine in". Sauce was really good! the soup was really nothing to write about, it was elephant ear stalk- heavy and lacked other items I would expect from this dish. The garlic veggies ended up having a tofu and mushrooms, which is fine, but really wasn't what the description mentioned. The stir fried noodles were very underwhelming. It came with a lot of chicken but the noodles were slightly undercooked and soggy, which is a weird combination. I still really love this place and the comfort Vietnamese food items they offer. That being said, I would definitely recommend trying these items in store! This whole order was about $140 and enough for 6 people to share.

Great food overall, though I think that portions could be a bit larger given the price point. Shaken beef: great dish, you dip in a mixture of condiments and rubs as you eat. My only complaint was the portion size---it looked like a full beef plate, but was actually a small layer on top of sliced onions. Spring Rolls: great preparation, and with a nicely spicy peanut sauce. Crepe: I had never had this dish before, and it was an interesting prep. The fish sauce accompanying it helped bring out the flavor. Staff were extremely nice.

I would say 3 and a half starts. The food is delicious but the portion sizes on the noodle dishes are a little lacking. If I am paying 25 dollars for just noodles, I would like a full box of noodles. Very tasty though, maybe ingredients were running low for the day, so will be returning again.

A staple for us! I really recommend the Vietnamese crepe. Light and crispy outside and full of goodness inside.

Wow, I was really surprised by this place! I hadn't had a bowl of pho in a loooong time and I thought their pho was delicious! The broth felt really balanced and was just... yummy--for lack of a better word. I'd like to come back and try their other dishes. Definitely check this place out!

Sunflower is my go-to for the BEST Vietnamese bún! Their lemonade is out of this world, and those spring rolls? Perfection! Plus, the service is always speedy and super friendly. It is a nice place to have lunch or dinner with a group.

Me and pho are friends pho life, so, when my hubby and I saw that Sunflower Vietnamese opened near us, we had to check theirs out! The location couldn't be more convenient for us. It's next to the H‑E‑B on Parmer and McNeil in the spot where Cajun Pizza (May they RIP!) was for the later part of their life. We thought about ordering and picking up, but we opted to dine in, and we're super-glad that we did. The place is cute af. Very fresh, gardeny (real plants, we think. I smell the oxygen. Lol!), and modern-feeling, with kitschy videos playing on the TV, and current pop music streaming. Love it! We started with the pork and shrimp spring rolls, and they were fresh-rolled (not always the case at places!) and really, REALLY delicious! The peanut sauce had just the right amount of heat. We'll definitely always start with these on future visits! My husband got the Imperial Rolls on Vermicelli, and it was super-satisfying, says he! Sweet and savory, and the charred pork adds the excellent bite to it. The egg rolls were unctuous, too! Dense chunks of flavor. (Bonus: they're now playing Sunflower by Post Malone. I can't with it! Too stinking cute!) I got the beef pho, and it was freakin' awesome! That broth, though! Easily in the top three in Austin! Super-happy that it's in our 'hood! All in all, this is one of the easiest 5 stars that I've given in a long while! Well done, Sunflower! Welcome to North Austin!

For someone that lives in Houston, this place def exceeds the bar in terms of Vietnamese food. I was shocked at how big the menu was! Everything we ordered was DELICIOUS! I really wanted to try the Banh xeo.

Attentive service, authentic dishes and delicious flavors await you here. The place was busy but not overwhelmed and lively but not noisy. The Vietnamese coffee is served with the single brewer at the table, the pho was fresh and flavorful and the egg rolls were crispy and delicious.

Very extensive menu, large portions, fast service, flavor is pretty good too. Good place for a gathering!

Super Expensive I'm sorry but I'm striking Sunflower off our list of preferred restaurants as the prices are just absolutely ridiculous now. Furthermore, like every vendor in the US tax and service are additional. Portion sizes have also shrunk dramatically from what they used to be. Biggest disappointment was the Tamarind Fish which didn't even taste of Tamarind one bit. It was described as a Tamarind Glaze, but as you can see in the photos it was more of a watery wash. A glaze is typically a reduction. We should have sent it back.

This isn't quite as good as I remember back in the day. But it might still be the best Vietnamese restaurant in Austin.

Was looking for a good lunch spot near work and I remembered that this restaurant re-opened nearby. The restaurant is pretty large so it can handle many diners and I arrived at noon and they still had a couple tables. They have lunch specials and I choose the one with the five spice chicken that comes with rice a cabbage salad and choice of fried egg roll or spring roll. The food came out about ten minutes later and it was piping hot; so rare these days. The chicken portion was sizable and tasty. It was very tender and marinaded. The only thing is the five spice level was a little more muted than it used to be and it grilled but it wasn't charcoal grilled. Still it was great and I ate everything. Checkout is fast just pay the cashier by the door. Prices are what you'd expect about $14+tax for sit down place.

Sunflower has been very inconsistent with their food when it comes to flavor. I usually order their Ca Khó To to go for delivery and it was spot on in terms of the authentic caramelization flavors. My most recent delivery order was very disappointing. The fish wasn't even caramelized and the sauce was very liquified. I honestly couldn't even taste any Vietnamese flavors at all.
