Stopped by to check out a place to get some drinks before a concert and came across Sunny's! Matt's service was exceptional and genuine! $1 jellos are a steal and they are delicious, the rest of the backbar is economical. The pool tables and bar games are always a plus!

Kind of a transient/local dive bar. Seems to be an after game spot for Astros nerds. 15 people will walk in, order jello shots and walk out. Goes from empty to packed in seconds. Relaxed querky vibe. Prices lower than the downtown norm. Nothing on tap, all bottles and no food. BYOF is allowed. Cool for what it is.

Um, yeah! I first walked in here a couple of months ago... I met Pom, she was a wonderful host. Since then, I have come back many times and met many of the staff. Even so, I like to be served by Pom. She is constantly moving, it's wild her attention to detail, and her ability to make you feel at home is what brought me back each time.

The service was amazing. I felt right at home. I would definitely return to Houston, just to visit Sunny’s! Karaoke on Thursday night was epic!

No food served. Out of 2 bartenders, only the lady that looked like Emma Stone was doing her job. The smaller lady wasn't really putting an effort into trying to bartend. It seemed people liked her because she's nice and always smiling but if I go to a bar, I want to have a few drinks. Not just start at a female who doesn't know how to mix a drink.

My sister and I needed a night out, and this was the perfect place. We played pool for hours and had probably too much to drink, but it was a blast. The clientele there was so friendly and inviting. The bar tenders were both awesome. We had a Ray Charles there, which is when you stand at the end of the bar, close your eyes, and throw 3 ice cubes at bottles behind the bar. Whatever you hit they mix in a drink and you drink it. Mine was awesome, but I did see someone get a horrible concoction.

Came to this bar after an Astros game and had a great time. The prices are amazing. $8 whiskey shot, $1 Jell-O shots. My friend and I had a few rounds and spent $35 total. The vibes were good also. I would definitely come back when I am in the Downtown area

I went after an afternoon Astros game. Service and atmosphere was great. Small bar and a lot of fun.

We didn't eat bc we ate before we found Sunny's. So we had a couple of drinks and learned the history and I'm sorry we didn't get to meet Sunny, but we are planning on coming back!!! Definitely a gem in downtown Houston.

I would be careful that you aren't being charged for other people's drinks. Ok, , so, I admit that I don't have the best hearing in a quiet environment, much less a loud one!! I try to be patient and understanding, but don't mess with my $$$. My friend and I had bought some Drinks then split a bucket, which I sent him money on Venmo for and I bought some $1 shots. Well, when I got my bill, it was higher than I expected, so I asked for an itemized receipt and the bartender immediately became defensive about it! Luckily, the manager was there. She was well aware of the shots, But not anything more. The male bartender was yelling at me and arguing that I was wrong. I was NOT in a state where I didn't know what I was talking about and I was grateful that the manager was working with me to clear it up, other wise I would have paid for drinks that weren't mine. She did tell me that someone had charged drinks to my tab-some that may have been in my group, but others who definitely weren't. My advice is to be careful and check your tabs here!

Love this downtown dive bar! Staff is always great, drinks are strong and you have to try the pineapple! It's always a fun and friendly atmosphere!!

Kind of a cool dive. It's was super busy and had someone outside grilling, who also had a monkey. So weird and awesome. We only went to wait out traffic after a night at Theatre under the stars, so probably wouldn't go back, but was a fun experience none the less. Bartenders were attentive and the drink was good.

Such a cool place. I worked in the office building this was attached to and lived a few blocks away and would go every so often with colleagues or with dates. Love the vibe of this place and the slushy machine and Jell-O shots were always popular.

What a great place. Matt the owner is personable, kind, and his wife is lovely!!! Saw the sign from the street and knew it was my kind of place. You can tell the locals absolutely love it and appreciate the great service, drinks, and cleanliness!!!!

This is THE Downtown Houston dive bar. That's really all that needs to be said. Cheap drinks, served cold. If you need to know more than that, Sunny's probably isn't the place for you.

My friends and I were dropped off by our Uber in the for a goo middle of nowhere. He said this is the area to be. Walking around we ran into a dude and asked him where should we go? He said Sunny's. And we asked and for cheap drinks? He said Sunnys! So we walked across the street and into the bar. There was a mix of people of all ages and ethnicities. It had a local bar vibe with locals and seems like everyone knew everyone there. The bartender was really nice and made us a really strong Texas tequila drink. We went to many more bars after that and nobody made theirs as strong as Sunny's. At the end of the night my friends and I came back to Sunny's and the guy who we randomly talked to at the beginning of the night was there too! I like how there's Jell-O shots, cheap drinks, pool tables and a variety of different people.

What a great place in downtown Houston TX!! The owners are great. Best beer prices in town!! If you don't stop and check it out shame on you!!

I love this goofy offbeat little dive bar. Fantastic drink specials, game room in the back (pool tables, foosball, a few arcade games) and some of the most refreshingly eclectic crowds anywhere in the city. Dollar jello shots and five dollar frozen drinks are also a winning combo!

Excellent service, no fluff. Great prices. Just a bummer that they don't serve food.

3.5 stars. I had passed by Sunny's Bar on several occasions but finally checked it out as part of a birthday bar crawl. Sunny's is definitely a wine bar. If you're looking for more glitz and glamour, a short walk will take you to Main Street where you'll find other bars that fit the bill. This is a chill, no-frills spot with a bar in the front and two pool tables in the back. If you're planning on hitting up the bars on Main Street later, Sunny's is a good spot to start your night with some affordable drinks. Added bonus: $1 Jello-O shots. You know you want some.

Sunny's is one of the best bars downtown, great priced drinks, a TouchTunes jukebox to control the music and the sweetest bartenders you could ask for. Take the time to read the signs they are hilarious AND did I mention there's jellyfish AT THE BAR!?

Great environment! Came here early in the day before we went eat, got treated as family bartender even remember my name every time we came in out threw out the day! I highly recommend this place. DO NOT waste your time going to other bars around the area this place is it!!

I like the convenience of a bar around the corner. That's about it. I asked the bartender to make a simple drink and when I told him my friend and I didn't like it after a sip, he charged us anyway and made us pay for the next drinks we ordered to replace them. The drinks taste horrible and watered down. Not only were our drinks and service terrible but also his attitude and professionalism. All in all, this is where you come WHEN you're already drunk. Disappointing to say because when I lived downtown, this was a regular place for me.

This place is super divey in a classy way -- the excellent location, beautiful staff, friendly patrons, awesome karaoke sound system & jukebox, $1 jello shots... what on earth more does a person need!? OMG I was so impressed at the overall feel of the place. I was invited to come check the place out and ended up meeting a fabulous group of regulars and newbies for a great night of Houston fun. This place doesn't look like much but what a fun dive bar! Friendly bartender, great people at the bar and strong drinks. We even enjoyed some Jell-O shots and a slushy vodka drink. We will be back for sure. We may even partake in the super affordable buckets of beer. We felt like part of the locals. No pretension here!

Sunny's is a small dive bar in downtown away from the hustle and bustle of all the others ones nearby. It's a little tight in the front where the bar is but there's a little more seating in the game room around back. The drinks are solid and $1 Jell-O shots.

Absolutely fantastic gem in downtown Houston. Cheap drinks with tons of vodka flavors. White girls everywhere rejoice! I got fruit loop vodka (didn't know they still made it!) With club soda and my husband got a beer. Free coozie with a beer order...score! Awesome decorations with games out back and a small little patio to people watch. Icing on the cake...$1 jello shots. I didn't know dive bars like this existed within city limits, but here we are. Sunny's is everything you would want in a little dive bar: - Cheap drinks - Awesome koozies with your beer - $1 jello shots - Games in the back - Tons of tacky yet well placed decorations Plus a ton more. Also enjoyed the small patio overlooking Capitol street. Whether you have a crew looking to stop in for a cheap round or if you want to slow down for one drink and relax, definitely would recommend popping into Sunny's.

Very reasonable prices and friendly bartender. We are staying downtown for the night and wanted to have a few drinks. It's so close to the Marriott we had to check it out. I recommend this place for some drinks.

Great bar. Great prices. Amazing after-game spot to hit up. I got $15 buckets with 6 beers and $1 Jell-O shots. Love a good deal with a great staff. It might be a bit of an older crowd, but I think the free popcorn makes up for it. Great all around pre-game bar to go out for cheap drinks before heading out to the clubs. 10/10

Yay! I'm a fan of Sunny and I'm a fan of Sunny's Bar!!! We stopped in on a Sat afternoon right after opening. Sunny was a little late opening so I help pull down chairs from the bar while talking to her as she was setting up. Sunny bought me a couple of jello shots. She's so cool and so sweet! Pub Crawls were coming through. Someone bought me some more jello shots. We drank and couple of beers and started on our own crawl. I'll for sure be back next time I'm downtown... Sunny's is a rare gem, a magical unicorn dressed up like a Jimmy Buffet fan without the cichiness. The patrons are friendly and the staff is ingratiating! I have a legendary "Bardar" that can smell out the right place to party in from a mile away. When I came along Sunny's my Bardar went off like a fire alarm! Booze Patio for smoking and drinking Foozeball More love that a crane game full of care bears!

I'm a huge fan of all things Downtown - the restaurants, the hidden music venues and all of the dark, seedy bars ... but Sunny's is in a league of its own. For months, I've had friends text me "We're at Sunny's." "Come to Sunny's." "Leaving Sunny's." But I had no idea what or where this place was. ...Til I drove by. It's a bright ray of sunshine shining from the dark, bare streets of Downtown. I almost passed it up, thinking it was a convenience store. It's that bright, y'all. But it suits the name - as well as the owner, Sunny: a genuine, sweet blonde with a golden smile. I'm not one for bright or well-lit bars (let's hide the wrinkles and blemishes, please), but Sunny's is a little oasis in Downtown's concrete jungle. Count on spotting a palapa, bright yellow walls, lights galore, popcorn machine, snacks, pool tables. For a super-laid back night, perhaps an interesting chat with a stranger, check out Sunny's. And don't forget to do your Yelp check-in for a free Jell-O shot.

This bar is a must try. This bar have little speciality drinks that will get you "chocolate wasted" ! If you go here try the mixed frozen drink, pineapple bites(dipped in diesel), and the "ray charles"! With the Ray Charles you stand behind the bar(the side you normally sit on) and you are blind folded, then they give you three ice cubes and you throw them at the bar aiming for the alcohol bottles. Which ever three bottles you hit is what your shot is comprised of. give it a try!!!!! Also when you buy a beer they give you a beer sleeve to keep.

Fantastic bar right in the heart of the beast. I highly recommend this place if you're looking fir a calm, cool place to relax in downtown Houston.

This little bar is about as casual and easy-going as you can get. Located right off Capitol downtown, Sunny's was one of the few bars open in the area and it probably falls into dive bar category. Pool tables and foosball in back, regulars up front, just the type of unassuming spot to grab a quick one. As a first-timer I felt all the folks in here were quite friendly outside of the couple macking on the couch in back. BUT they were busy so I understand. So stop by Sunny's for a beer and little bit of sunshine...

This was my first time really hanging out downtown and did a search to find a bar to go have drinks... Sunny's was the closest to where I was AND WHAT A GREAT CHOICE! PLEASE stop by and enjoy great drinks, nice staff and clean environment. Whatever you want to drink they have. Also, love the jello shots.

A creepy guy followed us here, guy in the bar really helped us out. He followed us for a mile and a half. Ladies guy at the bar immediately sensed our discomfort. He ordered the man out but refused, it took 4 more times before he left. Hello shots are great! Also the tequila lemon shots are delicious!

Now, I love downtown Houston, but the best thing about the place is the most opposite of anything downtown has to offer and that's Sunny's. The only stiffs here are the drinks and Sunny will personally serve you one.

Fun and cheap. Strong drinks. Dollar jello shots always. Super mother/son team behind bar. TVs, games, pool tables. Must go for those seeking a mixed crowd and no scenesters.

Once again Sunny's scores big. We came after dinner at Ninfa's and we were well taken care of again. I love this place. It's great for people watching!

Just like you probably "behave" on facebook because of family and peers, consider Sunny's to be your private tumblr account that you don't share with anyone who is going to judge you harshly for repeatedly reblogging Darth Vader riding Charizard. I'm not saying it is Mos Eisley by any means. But I am pretty sure this is where Han Solo would come for a drink - definitely not the Flying Saucer. Just like Warren's: this is a downtown bar that does it right. This is a monster jam for drinking after work.

I love everything about this small cool bar. From the playlist to the dollar Jell-O shots (all day EVERYDAY OKAY) to the people that hang around here. Sunny's is usually a stop I make any time I'm near Main St and walking around. The bartender is always polite, and the service is always quick no matter how packed it may get from time to time. I don't love that their bathroom is so far in the back of the building, but you can't have it all!
