I really really love the garlic kale salad here at Sunshine's, but I wish the service was just as impeccable as the food. My friend went to the restaurant to place an order at the counter for us - cause I was craving the garlic kale. When she ordered, there was a huge bowl of garlic kale in the screened deli area behind the counter. She ordered the 3 salad combo and I got the Spicy Black Bean Burger with a small side of the garlic kale. Well.. she paid and ended up getting most of the food - but an hour later was still standing there waiting because they ran out of garlic kale and told her they would go back and make some. How long does it take so long to make garlic kale salad? Instead of informing her, they just had her stand there and wait. Then after the hour had passed, they told her that they didn't have the ingredients to make it and would substitute the order for another salad? Say what? When we ordered - there was a ton of garlic kale. They should've packaged it for us since we had ordered and already paid. They waited until the black bean burger finished cooking and then by that time, the garlic kale was gone. Most businesses would notify you and remedy the situation with a replacement - but they completely ignored her and didn't tell her. This is bad business practice and I wish they cared enough about customer service to notify the customer of the issue in a timely manner. Seriously, no one should have to stand there for over an hour for a to-go order - especially not for a salad! They should know ahead of time if there is an inventory issue. She was so turned off by them, she will never be back. To make matters worse, the Black Bean Burger had zero sauce in it, which made it bland and super dry. I've had this before and someone forgot an ingredient when making it. No offer of reimbursement for the now cold food cause of the kale salad mishap and no offer to make things right for wasting our time.
I love the kale salad so much, however, I decided to place an order online for it a week later. I did this twice - the first time they had my salad and Beyond burger packaged and ready for pick-up at the correct time. It was easy and I was able to go in and grab and go. The Beyond burger was juicy and delicious - way better than the black bean burger I had the previous week.
The 2nd time I placed a to-go order, I only ordered a large garlic kale and they didn't have it ready for me at the time of scheduled pick-up. The girl told me to wait and then finally decided to go package the kale salad for me herself. Why she didn't do that in the first place, beats me! But I think they totally forgot about the order cause she didn't have a ticket and then asked me if I already paid. Seriously? How do they run a business here? They need to fix the issues and become more consistent with their service. Someone needs to make sure orders are managed in an orderly way. If you love garlic, this garlic kale salad is the best thing - it's so garlicky it burns! But is it worth the hassle to come here and get it, knowing you may waste precious time for them to just package it into a container, that's up for you to decide!
