I came here after some friends who live out of the city sent me some photos of the dishes they had when they came to Red Hook which is close by. Being from Peru I would hope they would be a great judge of the authenticity of the food.
The Chef is Miguel Aguilar who competed on Knife Fight Season 3 who made it up to the final round so I was looking forward to the dinner.
The restaurant is located Park Slope Brooklyn in a commercial and has a good space and nice atmosphere. It's cozy although it's not upscale.
What I like most was the fact that currently while we are in the height of the Omnicron COVID surge the first thing the staff did was thoroughly check your vaccine card or app. I see so many restaurants not checking.
Overall it was a very nice experience. The staff was welcoming, attentive and provided good insight into the menu.
They have so many great choices from Ceviche, Tapas, soups, salads, entrees and desert.
As starters we had the Quinoa Salad which has Organic quinoa, cucumbers, tomato, avocado, edamame, peruvian corn, crispy seaweed, and rocoto-yuzu vinaigrette. We also had the Zapallitos which is roasted zucchini filled with shrimp, crabmeat and goat cheese.
These were two great dishes although I really loved the Quinoa salad. For entrees we had the salmon which was a generous portion surrounded by zucchini, huacatay coconut curry and the "show stopper" which was the special a 24 ounce Rib Eye Steak, accompanied by mash potatoes and an avocado salad. This dish is recommended for two so over half "went to go" LOL.
All the food had flavor the exploded with every bite, I give credit to chef Miguel. For desert we had the homemade cookie with tres leches and vanilla ice cream.
Really nice experience, good prices, plenty of space and parking is fairly easy in the area. The only negative for me is that there were several dishes I was interested in that could only be made by frying them. I would definitely go back and highly recommend them despite that fact.
