We absolutely love Sushi Nozomi! Super friendly staff with great menu of delicious dishes! The sushi and sashimi are always fresh and great quality!

Wonderful food and service in this casual setting. We walked in on a Friday night and got a table right away. They were happy to accommodate my picky guest's modification requests and the food was all fresh and prepared perfectly. Everyone was so nice and there are some rare and hard to find treats on the menu, highly recommended!

Delicious sushi omakase at a reasonable price! The chefs create some interesting bites which make this better than the typical sushi places in LA. I would definitely come back for the omakase and I’m tempted to try their uni-don

Last minute dinner date and needed to find a Japanese sushi restaurant closeby in Torrance that opened past 8pm and found this place through Google Maps. Called them at lunchtime for a reservation which i got and they said that last food orders was 845pm so that was perfect. Couldnt get the sushi bar but table seating was perfect and intimate. Our server was friendly and we ordered right away. Prices were a little on the high side but its a date so live a little🤙 Ordered a couple small appetizers and the Sushi Dinner deluxe for myself and the Sushi Omakase for my date that featured speciality fish of the day (chefs choice). Everything was fresh and high quality, delicious and authentic. Stayed still closing time and didnt feel rushed at all.....Thank you for such a nice memorable dinner for the both of us. 🙏🙏Would recommend if in the area. 5 stars🤙

Don’t know how the food tastes because they never offered a seat. My husband and I waited standing and no one offered a seat for a while. The restaurant was not full at all, as there were 3-4 groups. Two Servers and two chefs at the counter never even gave a glance at us nor asking us to wait. this is not what I expected from a decent looking sushi place.

** You need to make reservation for table seatings! ** I was craving sushi and some sake, so I searched a place nearby. We were so close to miss the reservation but luckily we made it. Their sushi are very fresh and tasty. I really liked the scallop sushi!!! omg so good. I don't really recommend pork belly skewers..it doesn't worth the price. However the chicken skewers are so good. Very moisture and chewy. Will be back soon :)

Great place to come for sushi in Torrance. I came by on a weekday lunch and there was no wait for a party of 4. The lunch set comes with salad as well as miso soup. There's around 10-12 tables inside the restaurant so it's not the biggest but a cozy size with a number of seats at the bar as well. The fish tastes really fresh in the sashimi set and I really enjoyed the tuna and salmon. I'm usually not the biggest fan of octopus sashimi but the octopus here was not bad and not overly chewy. The sashimi set is a great light lunch to have and the miso soup and salad are a good pairing with the fish. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back here when I'm in Torrance.

My new favorite sushi restaurant. It's a cozy little place, but they have private rooms for hosting your parties. Make a reservation to avoid any waiting. Our servers, Toshi and Elissa, took good care of us all night. We indulged in my go-to dishes like Uni and Ankimo; they even have meat skewers, softshell crab, and more. Plus, they offer sake, beer, wine, and other fun cocktails. I couldn't find Highball on the menu, but they whipped one up for me - now that's what I call service! The Uni was so fresh and had the perfect touch of sweetness, so naturally, we had to order more. The Ankimo was served in a bowl and felt like a main course. I won't sugarcoat it--the prices are on the higher side--our bill came to nearly $300 for the two of us. But let me tell you, it was totally worth every penny! One more thing to note: the kitchen closes early at 8:45 p.m. every day, and plenty of parking spaces are available.

Came on a storming Sunday evening and was immediately sat down and menu explained to us. They still have a QR code menu but a physical menu of the specials Pleasantly surprised to see how many people were in the restaurant and dining during a storm! They also had smaller rooms that seat larger parties and themed like in Japan Price : $80 for 10 piece nigiri and negi-toro roll which is solid for the area All the pieces of fish were sooo fresh, we devoured our meal in 10 minutes when it came out. The star of the show was the uni nigiri piece. The quality was sooo good and buttery, not briney like some uni I've had. The amount of uni was also very generous. I even converted my sister who is not a fan of uni but thought the taste was superb

Nozomi is still one of my favorite sushi locations in the south bay area. It's located sort of behind the 85c on carson st. and western ave. They've been here forever and still gathers a good crowd every night. During the pandemic, takeout sushi was first stopped then limited to the chirashi. Chirashi is usually a sushi type rice with different toppings, this one of course has select fish pieces which is pretty delicious. Now they have two versions, a basic one box chirashi which i added uni (sea urchin roe) for 32 dollars. I think this cheaper box is a decent lunch time size for most, but if you want premium fish cuts and a little more variety, like amae ebi (sweet shrimp) where they will cook the shrimp head in the miso soup then get the premium box. In the premium you get a small salad, and two boxes. One has the rice which is a nice mushroom mixed rice, with a nori sprinkled on it. On top of that was a nice piece of eel (unagi), ikura (salmon roe), and they put the 3 pieces of fresh uni (sea urchin roe) on there as well. The other box was just the sashimi (raw fish) and tamago, which i love. Two nice cubes of seasoned dashi tamago (seasoned egg omelete), 2 maguro (tuna), 2 hamachi (yellow tail), 1 tai (sea bream), 2 sake (salmon), 1 hokikai (surf clam), 1 amae ebi (sweet shrimp), 1 aji (spanish mackeral). Which doesn't sound like a lot, but it's filling. You also get a couple pieces of kamaboko (fish cake) and the heaping of ginger and wasabi (horse radish). For those who don't know how to eat this, you can mix the soy and wasabi and drizzle it over the fish and then eat, or just eat like sashimi which is just dipping the fish in the soy/wasabi mix and then eating some of the rice with it. In Japan, the fish would all be on top of the rice, but since they want to keep the presentation nice, they put it in two boxes. The premium box like this can vary, i had it with i think hotate (scallop), akagai (red clam), chu toro (mid fatty tuna). Anyways, it's pretty delicious, this place it's always fresh. Oh and a quick japanese lesson lol, japanese can look itimidating but it's all just syllables based on a, i, u, e, o which in same order is pronounced a = ahh, i = eee (like eel), u = (ew), e = (like eh), o = "like oh". And all words are just broken into the syllables like sashimi sa = sah, shi = she, mi = me, which makes it pretty simple way to pronounce words. Anyways, go enjoy some good fish.

It's been years since I've been back here, and previously, I didn't have much to say about this restaurant. However, this time around, I can say otherwise. I was going to come here for the omakase at lunch for my friend's birthday, but due to her baby being sick, we opted for takeout, which I never like to do for omakase especially. The staff was super kind about the last min reservation cancellation, and told us the takeout would be ready in 20 min. Now the food. The omakase came with miso soup, 10 sushi pieces (including ikura and uni), and a negi-toro cut roll. The takeout presentation was beautiful (see pic). Each piece was fresh and delicious, with the fish to rice ratio being ideal. I want to come back and try dining at the restaurant on my next visit.

Dear Me, What a lovely discovery! The sushi is pricey BUT quality and size is good. We ordered salmon, yellowtail, amberjack and Toro. All did not disappoint. We also ordered our usual handrolls, it was good, but too pricey for a repeat. We got the creamy udon (surprisingly good) and the tempura lunch special. We will definitely be coming back coz Papa B finally found the closest decent tempura place since marukai closed. Next time we will try their other entrees. Happy 15th anniversary Kokos

Post Valentine date with hubby. Decided to walk in last minute as the other Resto where we wanted to go was fully booked. No regrets... We had Omakase by the bar. Sushi Chef gave us the best...Fresh seafood...even the jellyfish melts in your mouth. Only 2 servers but very quick and attentive.

Great spot for lunch! My go-to order here is the chirashi bowl. The best chirashi in the area! Quality of fish is good, sushi rice is well-balanced, and sashimi is thick cut. The portion looks small but it was perfect. The restaurant is clean and servers are very friendly. Recently dined in for dinner and had a great experience. However, I was a bit bummed that they don't offer the regular chirashi for dinner (only premium). We ordered the large sashimi platter, a la carte sushi, uni cream udon, and tempura udon. I usually don't like creamy dishes but the uni udon was just perfect and had a good amount of uni inside. I will say that the prices are quite steep here so the lunch chirashi is my preference for quality and price. ** They stop accepting togo orders during dinner service if the restaurant is busy so plan early!

After moving to Torrance for several years and trying 100 Japanese restaurants in the area, I finally came here - I must admit this is my favorite Japanese restaurant in the area. The service is amazing. They even have a private booth that has traditional Japanese seating with a minimum spending (I think it was around $200). And spending this mischief at Nozomi is worth every penny. They offer a lot of dishes not offered in other places, like Carpaccio, which is like Ceviche, but instead of sour and refreshing, it's fragrant herbs, rich sesame oil, and slightly baked and tender. Carpaccio is also perfect for pairing with white wine. Their house white wine was perfect. Other noteworthy things: - when you order uni pasta, they add rice after so soak up the rich creamy uni sauce. - the uni egg tart is cheaper than other places, AND they provide more uni - they have a HUGE selection of sashimi / fish selection that you do not see in other restaurants Service 10/10 Food taste 10/10 Food portion 12/10 Food selection 12/10 I would rate 6 stars if I can.

Stopped by for lunch and there were already a few people waiting for doors to open. Seated promptly as soon as doors opened. Uni bowl was delicious but price has gone up a lot, likely due to inflation. The lunch combo bento looked decent. The rice is good but I've had better sushi rice that melts in your mouth. Expected a bit more for price point but was decent enough that I enjoyed my lunch. Uni seemed fresh. The service was great, the servers were polite and explained items on the menu if you had questions. Free parking in the lot.

This place was recommended by a friend and had great reviews so when I was in the area I stopped in for lunch. It's located in a popular plaza with 85° Bakery and Baekjong kbbq so there is parking. It is a small restaurant but reminded me of Japan. The lunch menu has specials and a limited menu. I got the sea urchin and yellowtail bowl, toro, and freshwater eel (from Japan). My BF got a lunch combo and it was a good amount. The toro was fresh and the eel was the best we ever had because it just melted in our mouths. If you want quality food at a fair price this is a great place to visit.

LA is full of sushi spots and very good ones at that. I came here on a recommendation from close friends. We opted for the sushi omakase. I've had my fair share of omakase ranging from the lower end to the higher end. I can truthfully say that for the price point, Nozomi does it extremely well. It was $80 per person (not counting alcohol). The fish was great quality. Each piece was rather generous in size. You could tell the distinct flavors between each fish. Service was excellent. I would come back here.

Though bit expensive, quality and tastes are one of the best. One should take someone special to treat the sashimi or chirasi.

I have the privilege to go here a few times, and it's one of the best gems in the South Bay, and perhaps Los Angeles. I highly recommend Omakase, which means chef's selection. You sit at the bar, and the Chef goes through a select tasting menu of 10 selections. The selections are incredible, and I personally love the uni or sea urchin, which is sourced from Santa Barbara, with a creamy almost buttery texture. This Omakase is very filling and includes miso soup and roll at then end. Highly recommend the calamari...it's very different than other calamari, and certainly very memorable. Staff is very kind and helpful. I've taken both family and business guests, and it always is very memorable.

My family and I drove 40 minutes to eat here for dinner and I think it was definitely worth it. Everything from the initial greeting upon arriving to the taste and flavor of every dish was perfect. Best uni (sea urchin) cream udon I have ever had and I have had quite a bit from a couple of places. FOOD - 5/5 The focus of the meal was the Uni Cream Udon so we only order a few other side dishes. Sea Urchin Cream Udon (shiso leaf / salmon roe) - 5/5 This was the dinner 40g version with fresh uni sashimi on top ($44.80). The cream soup was super flavorful but not too heavy. You would think a cream soup might overpower the flavors of the uni and ikura (salmon roe) but everything was perfectly balanced. The udon noodles were also cooked just right. The portion is large enough to share for 2 people as a meal for 3 people if you order some other items. Highly recommend this dish, especially on a rare rainy day in SoCal. Grilled Free Range Chicken Yakitori (leek / salt) - 5/5 Each order comes with 2 skewers. You can choose salt or soy sauce based on your preference. We ordered the salt one and the chicken was crispy and juicy at the same time. The salt really enhanced the flavor of the grilled chicken. Skewed Squid Tentacles (soy sauce) - 5/5 For the squid, we got the soy sauce version. These also came in 2 skewers per order. The soy sauce had a slightly smokey flavor which paired really well with the squid. These were very tender and not rubbery at all. Skewed Pork Belly (onion / salt) - 5/5 We got the salt version for the pork belly. Once again, 2 skewers for the order. These were also very crispy and tender. Sea Bream Sushi (yuzu) - 5/5 The sushi had the perfect slice of sea bream sashimi with a bit of yuzu on top. It was a perfectly balanced bite. These can be pricey but we ordered 2 pieces to get a sense of the sushi quality. Takowasa (wasabi / octopus) -5/5 This is one of my favorite cold appetizers and not many Japanese restaurants serve this. I usually find that only the more authentic ones offer this dish. The wasabi flavor was great and the octopus was very fresh. White Fish & Salmon Carpaccio - 4/5 This carpaccio has a mix of white fish and salmon. The sashimi are seared on top and served in a cilantro sesame oil sauce. The dish was very tasty but I think I like my carpaccio on the lighter flavor side. SERVICE - 5/5 The staff was extremely friendly. You get a warm welcome and even when they are busy, they try their best to make sure you're not just waiting for them. They also check in with you at a good place and make sure the water glasses are filled or if you need a second Sapporo draft. VALUE - 5/5 Although the price of food is a bit more expensive, the quality definitely justifies the cost. They do have a lunch special that I have yet to explore, nonetheless, the meal is worth it. I've been to Japan several times and the authenticity of the food really takes me back to my trips.

Everything about it was on point with taste, service, experience, and price point The green eyed fish (ordered on their specials menu) is a 5 out of 5 kind of bite Their uni is massive and honestly the best uni I've ever had All the sushi pieces were special and none of them required soy sauce or wasabi Me and my boyfriend did their omakase twice within two weeks because it was so dang good. I definitely recommend this omakase/japanese spot especially if you're into chill vibes (not a fancy ambience but the food quality was )

This place is way better than I expected when I walked in. The ambiance looks like any normal sushi restaurant but the sushi quality is amazing. I wished I just order only sushi. Not that the uni cream udon is bad because it taste so good. But it is quite filling that you don't have that much room left for lots of sushi. Definitely need to come back again to try all of their sushi on the menu.

Nozomi is an excellent authentic sushi restaurant in Torrance. I have been coming here for years now and this is probably the closest sushi I found to eating in Tokyo. Restaurant flies fresh fish from Japan and I would strongly recommend choosing from special menu. Our go to here is definitely special sashimi (you can order various sizes for 2-3; 3-4 people or more)... If you come on Friday or Saturday you might be lucky and tuna on the bone could be on the menu - which is excellent to share with several people. I have never seen Akagai (red clam) anywhere in US outside this restaurant and strongly recommend it here. For nigiri I personally choose from special menu and tend to go heavy on white fish (Tokyo style) Uni and ikura are always fantastic. Tips: It's a relatively small place and reservations are going to do you good. I would focus on special menu, definitely start with special sashimi and recommended specials. You have to order "authentic" here - no point of coming here and getting rolls, although rolls are good here too! Parking is plenty as the restaurant is located on a strip-mall. Friday and Saturday are best nights for specials.

I was blown away by how fresh the sushi was at Nozomi! My husband and I were in the neighborhood for an event on Saturday and wanted to try out Nozomi. We went a little after they opened at 5pm and all of their tables were reserved. They weren't doing bar seating either so we ended up getting one of the private rooms (minimum of $200) and ordered omakase, a few extra pieces, monkfish liver (Ankimo) appetizer and sake. Everything was so fresh and delicious! Nozomi was comparable to Sushi Gen in Little Tokyo, if not better! Our servers were also very knowledgeable and friendly. We will definitely be back to try some of their other dishes, including the uni don!

Food quality: - Edamame came out dry and burnt dark brown spots. - Albacore was discolored, smelled of fish and had a rancid taste (fun fact: good, fresh fish should not smell "fishy") - Fish is wrapped in plastic (fun fact: high quality fish is never wrapped in plastic at the sushi bar) Ambiance: - Restaurant smells of fish when you enter, from a lot personal experience and tasting sushi and shani around the world one thing I can stand on is that if you walk into a sushi restaurant and it smells of fish, leave. This place had a lot of reviews with a high rating so I decided to ignore my intuition and give it a try. I will not be coming back and neither will the 3 people I came to eat dinner with. Pricing: - starts with 1 piece of sushi/ sashimi at about $4 and up - Waiters NEVER came to the table. - We wanted to be here for less than an hour but unfortunately the service took an hour alone.

Food was good. Servers were sooo kind. We went around 1230pm and it was quiet and chill inside. We ordered: - Sushi lunch 8.5/10 - everything tasted fresh and yummy. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the price, what you pay here for sushi lunch here, you'd get more at Sugarfish. - Miso soup was tasty. Doesn't have your usual tofu and seaweed, but instead I think carrots and radish. - ordered fatty tuna on the side ($8 per piece)

probably my favorite sushi restaurant of ALL time. it's not your typical fancy tiktok bs. pure and raw experience from beginning to end. servers are nice, food is great, just make your reservations now.

I was making reservations and the host was very accommodating and make time available either Saturday or Sunday which is comforting since it's really hard to do reservations now a days! So I reserved the private room for lunch, but realistically it's just a curtain between two tables which is nice but the conversations were really loud so we can overhear others conversations. The sashimi is definitely worth getting especially the fatty tuna and the mackerel. uni is by far refreshing here and just amazing! Definitely will return and enjoy their evening dinners.

This place, Nozomi, is lacking in integrity and service. We went there at 8:35pm and the waitress said that they're closing in 5 minutes. The signage inside states that they are open until 9:30pm. Does this place decide to close whenever they feel like it? Voting "No" for Nozomi! I later heard that the food is overpriced and not worth it, so grateful for their strange operating hours.

BEST AMONGST THE BEST in the South Bay. You have to follow them on Instagram! They share daily story of their freshest catch for the day! My experience here from the moment I contacted them on Instagram to leaving the restaurant has been 5 stars customer service! Most Japanese places are hard to navigate about and let alone understand the menu - but they are on point with explaining everything for you! 1. Blue fin tuna bone - you have to reserve it beforehand ... they grill it for you afterwards! It's just a show stopping experience 2. Uni pasta/risotto - this was so good. Such a simple dish - and they give you a side of rice to put in afterwards to make a risotto. 3. I honestly don't remember them all but ... they are good to give you recommendations and they are all so good!

Walked in without a reservation on a Saturday night, got a private room at no charge. That's 5 stars already. But wait there's more... * Agedashi tofu - exceptional * Shrimp and veggie tempura - some of the best I've had) * Grilled calamari - addictingly good * Sashimi - probably the best in South Bay. This place is not cheap ($150 total) but you truly get what you pay for here. Everything is fresh, organic and all the fish imported from Japan.

We had such an amazing dinner at Nozomi. Our family reserved a tatami room for an intimate experience. We ordered several dishes, like Japanese tapas, and shared some incredible cuisine, both flavorful and complex texture. The service was impeccable and the prices were very reasonable considering the perfectly executed and high quality food. I highly recommend Nozomi to anyone desiring authentic sushi and Japanese dishes perfectly executed. My favorite dish was the Wagyu beef with house made sauce and yuzu pepper dressing. Overall, the experience reminded me of my many visits to Japan.

The service here is what you'd expect from Japanese hospitality; the waitresses and chefs were inviting and approachable even until the moment you leave. I ordered the chirashi bowl and honestly, the picture speaks for itself!!

Best sushi in States by far! That unique fat taste of fish is incredible! And chef makes the sushi even better! To me immediately you know the fish is from Japan, this is the first time I had drowns that great taste outside of Japan! No kidding, definitely will come to LA for this sushi! UNI is also great! Can't believe I can have this luxury experience in US!

A standout sushi place in a sea of places in Los Angles. This was a great dinner and the quality and variety of sushi options that we had was great and was worth every penny! We picked a bunch of different types of nigiri to get a good taste of everything, the usuals as well as some more unique things like abalone and monkfish liver. the ambiance was great, and overall it was on the more expensive side but definitely worth it, and the quality showed through in the dishes we had.

Omakase is the way to go... loved the freshness of each and every sashimi served by Manabu our main sushi chef. Pair ithem with Junmai Ginjo sake then everything is perfect!!! Will definitely be back.. the servers at the restaurants are also very nice and personable. I love this place for $85/ person it's all worth it.

Torrance is one of the best towns for sushi and Japanese food, and Nozomi is one of them that makes Torrance torrance. We got the special chirashi bowl. Double decker full of fresh fish and rice. Loved the thick cuts of sashimi (uni, toro, salmon, tuna, yellowtail, saba, unagi, shrimp, tamago). The rice was toped with salmon roe, lots of seaweed and flavoring (like the pink sweet salt!!) which made it more tasty too. The special chirashi is $60 while the normal chirashi is only $22. If you don't mind not getting toro, uni, unagi, saba included, I think normal chirashi is a much better deal. Definitely do want to come back for their bluefin tuna RIBS. It looks amazing. Savage. They were out when we came in, but next time!

Nozomi is a great option in this plaza full of outstanding places to eat. My only issue is that it's been a 50/50 chance of success at getting a table, so it's hard to gauge how busy they are, especially when we call again and again only to hear the busy noise/dial tone. We went once in person during COVID and they just said reservations were full even though most of the (socially distanced) tables were empty. Another time we came around the same time and were seated with no problem. Things I've tried: I admit I haven't had a salmon skin roll before but it was delicious at Nozomi. Their salmon rice bowl was also really good. I was craving chazuke so I ordered the salmon one for $8.80 (basically salmon and rice in tea soup). It really hit the spot for comfort food and reasonable portions without making me feel overstuffed. Their chawanmushi (steamed egg) for $6 is definitely one of the best I've had and I'd highly recommend it to anyone. Instead of the small dried shrimp I've seen and dislike in other soft steamed egg, they use small not-dried shrimp. There was a slice of fish cake and shiitake mushrooms mixed in as well. It was sooooo soft. I could probably have eaten 2 or 3 and called it my meal.

The sushi here is stellar as well as the rest of their menu. It's a little on the pricier side but it's worth it for the quality and they were really great about letting me know what had gluten in it and what didn't AND they had tamari so I could use that for my nigiri. The service was outstanding and they didn't make me feel bad for asking dietary restrictions questions, they were knowledgeable and upfront about everything. I will definitely be coming back. I want to try their lunch specials.

I went to Nozomi today for early dinner on recommendation from a friend and was not disappointed. Hands down the best sushi in the South Bay and even in the LA area. We had their "Omakase." Food quality was second to none not only the sushi but the appetizer and desserts were oishii too! The service was fantastic, friendly and attentive staff. Will defintely return.

I have been needing to come to this restaurant for quite some time and I'm glad I did. Very traditional style from the chefs to the seating and also the private rooms. Only thing I was sad about is your bill has to be $80 or more if you want to sit at the chefs table so definitely I'll look into it. So like a real traditional Japanese restaurant each nagiri piece comes in one not twos. High quality assortment of fishes. I'm a big fan of seabream and snapper and it was nice to see such a wide range in comparison to other spots . They had Hokkaido scallop which is always my favorite as well . I would def come back for the full experience next time . Also loved the Spanish mackerel with the yuzu on it . Was absolutely great

Sushi was very fresh and good taste but waiters are not professional. There are pointless conversation in front of customers.

Uni! Uni! Uni! If you are an Uni lover like myself you definitely NEED to try nozomi! We went during the outdoor seating only so we have not been back since if there are any changes from before. The customer service is still great! Food: Food was amazing! You can tell the quality of their katsu. Quality of their sashimi! Quality of their uni. All amazing! The Uni udon is the dish to order for me. My picture shows the Uni on top of the soup but the bottom... you would be shocked how much Uni is inside the soup for the price!! Less than $40 all that Uni/soup and a side of rice for the broth. Amazing!!!!! If you haven't been, go now!

Food was excellent and quality was the very best. In would definitely go back and try some of the other items on the menu. Had the miso black cod fish and some sushi. Very great quality salmon sushi. Service was excellent and very authentic Japanese food.

I called this place to make a reservation for the first time. The lady answered the phone (her name is Kazue) was very rude and I was told that she is so busy and needs to hang up on me ( seriously?? Then why you even picked up the phone??) I am Japanese and she is Japanese so we both spoke in Japanese so I know how rude she is by how she talks. She was the rudest person I ever spoke to in my whole life. Be aware!

FOOD WAS GOOD. Not $100 a person good but good. Service was excellent from our server. Whoever the gentleman was Thank you for the great service. Back to my rant. There is some amazing omakase sushi rest in south shore area. Just felt Nozomi was bit overpriced for the food vs other rest. Menu suggestion, would skip the uni cream udon.

I like to eat at the counter. They have many of my favorite items and delicious seasonal fish! The saury is delicious in the fall!
