Tokyo’s Wagyumafia Bringing Legendary $180 Wagyu Sandwich to Chicago | Eater Chicago

"At Sushi-san on July 14 at 10 p.m. I can attend a late-night $125 wagyu dinner where Wagyumafia’s katsu sando will be available alongside Hisato’s tricolor nigiri, which layers warm sushi rice, a skinny slice of raw wagyu, Hokkaido uni, and a crown of caviar; he’ll also grill yakiniku served with unlimited Asahi beer, and in true Hamada style there will likely be off-the-cuff surprises." - Kat Odell

‘Time Out’ Doles Out Five Stars to S.K.Y. in Pilsen | Eater Chicago

"A new-school sushi experience that spotlights chef Kaze Chan’s talents: small plates like Tako Tacos — octopus, avocado, fried garlic, and spicy aioli in crispy nori shells — burst with complementary flavors, while a furikake scallop of sliced scallops roasted in furikake butter and finished with yuzu is soothing and umami scallop hand rolls are described as tasting like a warm hug. Serious sushi eaters are advised to book the omakase counter for standout bites such as ponzu-kissed Kumamoto oyster, hokkaido-wrapped uni, and XO-glazed chutoro." - Jeffy Mai

A casual and more relaxed place to go get some sushi. Doesn't try hard to be trendy or hip because its just great sushi for a reasonable price. Estimated average about 8.50 per roll. Staff are knowledgeable about their menu and make an effort to ensure everyone can dine there.

I was disappointed with my visit to Sushi San. The fish was flavorless and oddly cut into strips, which made the texture unpleasant. The cucumber roll was also difficult to enjoy because the vinegar taste was far too strong and overpowering. The service was fine, but overall the quality and flavor just were not there.

Visiting my parents, and they have been going here for years. I finally got a chance to join them, and I wasn't disappointed. The rolls were delicious, and the squid salad was great. But the salmon skin appetizer was only ok. Their tea is a wheat tea, which was interesting because I had never had that kind of tea before. It was good, though. The Wasabi was well balanced, but the ginger was a little strong. Definitely a place to revisit when I see my parents again.

Sushi San is hands down one of the best family-owned restaurants we’ve ever been to! Every time we come, the food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. You can truly taste the care and quality in every bite. One standout dish we keep coming back for is the teriyaki beef—perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with rich, savory flavor. It’s easily one of the best we’ve had! Pair it with their fresh sushi or a warm bowl of miso soup, and you have a meal that never disappoints. Beyond the food, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, plus they are always playing animal planet and SpongeBob which I really appreciate. If you’re looking for incredible sushi and outstanding service, Sushi San is the place to go!

This IS my go to spot for sushi. In all the years I’ve been coming never once have I had anything other than a excellent experience. Always fresh and delicious. Jun, James, Elizbet, Jane and Sean always make us feel welcomed. Keep up the good work and thank you. 🖖🏻LLAP

Best Sushi around! I have stopped at several of the other sushi restaurants in the area and, hands down, this one is the best! The Darwin is my favorite, and we get the Mountain every time! But they have an extensive choice of other favorites. Everything is always so fresh.

I’ve been to lots of sushi places and this one is chill, warm, hospitable, with lots of surprises, and yummy! Ate so much and a whole pot of tea. Lots of families and beautiful people here. I came for my birthday. And I’m not going to use a toothpick and just suck on the food between my teeth cause it was that enjoyable. Elizabet was a joy to have as a server! Come here and let me know what you think!

There are hole-in-the-wall sushi places and there are chic hipster sushi places. This is the former, but it rivals any sushi in the East Valley at half the cost. Awesome value. Tasty sushi and great service. It was our first time but they have a huge menu and are willing to work with substitutions. Sad that I haven't tried this place sooner!
