Sushi Sato

Food quality was good. I enjoyed the hot dishes over the sushi. That said, the pacing completely defeats the purpose of an all you can eat experience. Long gaps between orders and slow refills make it feel artificially limited rather than truly unlimited. Instead of getting a steady stream of food we had orders dumped on us 20 mins apart. If the service does not improve, the concept itself falls apart, regardless of how good the food is. This place needs way better preparation and execution.

In-Kind Dining Pick Sushi Sato owes me NOTHING! From the moment we walked in, the energy was on point—great vibes, a nostalgic 90s/R&B playlist, and an ambiance that felt warm and elevated. Ne-Yo, Ashanti, Akon, Usher, Ray J, Rihanna… it was giving grown folks soundtrack all night. THE FOOD? Phenomenal. Every. Single. Dish. • 🥗 Green Salad – crisp, refreshing • 🌱 Edamame – perfectly salted • 🍤 Rice Puff Rock Shrimp – crispy, light, addictive • 🐟 Marinated Mackerel – rich, silky, beautifully seasoned • 🐉 Dragon Specialty Roll – layered, flavorful, a true standout • 🍤🍤 Double Shrimp Tempura Roll – hot, crunchy, Tempura perfection • 🐟 Tuna Sashimi – buttery freshness • 🌶️ Spicy Tuna Classic Roll – flavorful with the perfect kick • 🥒 Garden Roll – clean, refreshing. This was the perfect blend for veggie lovers • 🐟🌿 Yellowtail Scallion Roll – bright, balanced, perfectly rolled Service deserves its own applause. A HUGE shoutout to Yousef, our waiter, who was absolutely fantastic. Attentive without hovering, warm, knowledgeable, and on top of everything. Plates were removed quickly, tables were wiped spotless, and the entire dining area stayed immaculate—even as dishes kept coming. That level of care elevated the whole experience and made the presentation feel polished from start to finish. The only two misses? • The Lychee Yuzu Crush tasted like dry wine—beautiful drink, just not great flavor-wise. The crush is traditionally sparkly sweet. Great concept but it just didn’t hit. • The draft from the door to the bar—it’s strong, and not in a good way. If you’re seated in its path, you’ll feel it. I think the only way to avoid it may be sitting upstairs. Even with those small quirks, Sushi Sato is easily a top-tier dining experience. Fresh sushi, elite service, a throwback playlist, and an overall vibe that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. I’ll absolutely be back—just picking a different cocktail and a seat away from the draft!

Came to Sushi Sato on NYE and had such a great time. For starters, the atmosphere upstairs is very chic and their r&b playlist was 10/10 and added to the overall experience. We did the $75 premium all you can eat and had no regrets. The miso black cod stole my heart, I genuinely could’ve had that as an entree and would’ve been completely satisfied. We also enjoyed the spicy tuna crispy rice, Osaka roll, yellowtail sashimi, and the grilled steak. I wasn’t a fan of the karrage or the beef fat garlic fried rice. But the drinks were also great. Overall, I’m a fan and will be back to try more.

We had a great experience. Yusuf was incredibly helpful and guided us to the right choices. We ordered the chef’s seven-piece sushi, medium fatty tuna (chutoro), Pacific tuna, miso soup, and gyoza—everything was fresh, well-balanced, and beautifully prepared. The flavors were spot on, and the quality really stood out. Excellent service and food from start to finish. Would definitely come back.

My girlfriend and I LOVE coming to Sushi Sato! The $75 all you can eat premium option is the best, we prefer it over any other sushi restaurant. There’s also a $55 regular all you can eat, but if you want real crab rolls and the octopus taco, it’s worth paying the $20 premium. They have amazing tuna crispy rice, they use real crab in their rolls, and the quality of salmon and sashimi is amazing! They have great sake too, all grades, good quality, and hot sake. They have an all-you-can-drink option too, and they have everything you can think of, well priced. The owner Simon and his staff are very friendly, shoutout Laura as well. The interior is well designed and very nice, has a modern feel with wooden esthetics and big windows to let in a lot of natural night, with a cute balcony for sunny days! Great for big groups. If you’re looking for a bite of sushi, or looking for a great value all you can eat option, definitely come to Sushi Sato!

Unlike many places that compromise quality for quantity, here every piece tastes fresh and refined. From buttery salmon sashimi to delicate nigiri, the chefs maintain consistency across the board. The variety ensures you can explore widely without ever feeling repetitive.

Super cool Sushi spot, best on H street. Not only was the Sushi delicious, but the service by Youssef was great and the atmosphere was chill, comforting and modern. Highly recommend the spicy scallop roll that was the best one we tried. The Honeycrisp Apple Gelato for dessert was delicious as well.

Had a great experience dining at sushi Sato on a Friday night. Youssef was great! He even gave us a dessert since we were celebrating our anniversary. Will definitely be coming back!

Service nice. I made reservations. I enjoyed the miso and sesame cucumber salad. They had the dragon role come in first. So nice I did not pause for photo. Shrimp tempura lovely and plenty for two to share. Tempura eggplant was in large rectangles ideal for three to share.. The unagi (fresh water eel was enjoyed. My son was insisting that is for you when I ordered it -but when it came out he agreed it was very good and we went for a second round.. in n out was an interesting concept beef sushi roll. It was a little heavier. Double shrimp tempura was tasty but as the whole roll is deep tempura fried it was the heavier entree sushi roll. The ginger was A homestyle we have never experienced and we enjoyed it. I liked the grilled cauliflower but my son was not going for it. I am glad I ordered it. We did AYCE standard. When I want to do that sushi splurge again I do not have to go deep into Virginia I now have a sweet spot on H street to go to.

$55 all you can eat review: I came here on a Saturday with a reservation and we were seated immediately upon arrival. The waitress was very attentive and explained the menu thoroughly. We started with the salmon and tuna sashimi both very fresh. Then moved on to nigiri: salmon, tuna, yellowtail, eel, cooked shrimp, mackerel and tomago. All were very good with the exception of the yellowtail which was a bit fishy for me. Next we moved on to the special rolls: dragon, in and out, pacific and double shrimp. The dragon and pacific were worth it but in and out and double shrimp really fell short for us. They really load on the rice and texture is one more. Overall the place is good and worth the price!

Awesome addition to the DC sushi scene. We did the AYCE option for 4 people. There was so much variety. Our server was really good about walking us through the menu. I wish there was a little more guidance about portion size. Some items were really small and others were huge (rice options.) it's good to know that for pacing. We definitely wouldn't have ordered the chicken rice last if we knew how large it was. Everything is really fresh. They have an affordable wine like as well. We didn't feel rushed. Everyone was friendly. Will definitely come back.

Snagged a reservation on a Wednesday night during their soft opening period and was very impressed! My group did the standard all you can eat. The quality and presentation of all of the dishes was way above what you would normally expect from an all you can eat experience. The food came out quickly and our server always made sure our drinks were full. Great price for the quality of sushi, nigiri, and sashimi. The grill items were also very yummy. I would highly recommend Sushi Sato for dinner (especially if you're hungry)!

I stopped by Sushi Sato on Sunday night and immediately recognized the building. While I loved dining at Bronze (and Smith Commons), Sushi Sato brings its own vibe and feels both fresh and open on the inside. After taking a seat at the bar, I decided on two Classic rolls - Sweet Potato and Spicy Salmon, Nigiri - Omelette and Truffled Tuna, and Edamame. Surprisingly, the Sweet Potato roll was my favorite. Everything was good, but I look forward to trying more (and going for the all-you-can-eat-option) after their official opening in August.

OHHHH MY GOSHHHH! I have a new fav sushi place and it's on H st!!! YAY!!! We were the first customers on the soft opening and I am SOOO impressed and so excited!!! The location is obviously amazing and the service was impeccable, but the foooood omgggggg, so creative (and not in a weird way... like actually sooo good). I will be dreaming about this sushi... the in and out roll is probably the most fun sushi roll I've ever had! The shrimp tempura is hands down the best I've ever had in my life (I would do no spicy mayo next time but that's just me). And fun drinks too! The yuzu crush was delicious! We will DEFINITELY be back! I'm SO EXCITED!!!

Awesome spot. Very modern interior. AYCE sushi for $55 (standard option). Gives you about 10-12 different rolls to choose from. Service was fair (different based on the roll). Ice cream is also included in the AYCE.

We got the all you can eat and it did not disappoint. The only draw back was they did not have Hendricks Gin or Kettle One, my favorites. However, they had Haku Vodka that was surprisingly good. Staff was wonderful and very accommodating. A must visit.

Food was amazing, did all you can eat and while it is a little spendy the quality of the fish, rolls and food were well worth it. Best sushi I have found in this area after being disappointed with some of the other options. Will definitely be coming back!

Had a beautiful dinner at Sushi Sato. We went with the Premier All You Can Menu. Our Server Laura was very helpful with suggestion of amazing food. We had amazing dinner and the food was very delicious. Staff was very nice and welcoming. My dad was very happy, his favorite dish was tako taco and shito peppers

I went when they had been open for less than a month. The sushi was good-- we did the AYCE and think it's a good bang for your buck. I tried the in-n-out roll just because and it was fun! They had limited alcohol selection but the bartender was personable.

I had dinner here last night with a group of 7. We got the standard AYCE option. When I ordered the food for the table, I asked if it would be enough for all of us and I was assured it would be. The first item that came out was the chicken karaage, 2 plates, 1 for each side of the table. We enjoyed it, we were happy. Then we got the edamame, one bowl. The rice puffed shrimp, one bowl. Noodles, one bowl. Then we were served chicken karaage almost 5 times after that. I kept telling the waiter we just want two orders of each dish, enough for the table. If it's all you can eat, all of us should be able to eat. The waiter asked us if we could order more hot food instead of sushi, but we didn't want more of the same stuff anymore. We finally got to the sushi portion, I ordered hamachi yellowtail for the table, and I was clear, we want enough for the table. 2 pieces came out for 7 people. And then slowly, one of each sushi roll. The food was coming out so slowly, we just wanted to leave at that point. We FINALLY got everything, 2 hours later. I know the restaurant is brand new and just opened, but there should be an easier way to accommodate large groups that gives them more than one bite of each dish.

Went on the soft opening weekend- staff was super nice and extended our unlimited sushi to 2 hours. Could only order in increments of 5 which is frustrating but understandable. Staff was nice but didn't know the menu well. I would go back!

Very good! The all-you-can-eat charge covered way more than sushi. We got multiple apps, kebabs, nigiri, and sushi. Each item was better than the last. We sat at the bar and the bartender was knowledgeable and a great server. Glad to have this place on H St. We will definitely be back.

Great customer service and the sushi was so good!! The restaurant was so nice inside and overall it was a really nice environment.
