Sushi Seki Chelsea - Review - Chelsea - New York - The Infatuation

"We’ve been long time lovers of the Upper East Side’s Sushi Seki, and now there’s a Chelsea location for whenever we feel the need to empty out our bank account south of 34th Street. The downtown Seki outpost is bigger and badder than the original, mostly in that they have a significant bar situation, a few more seats in the dining room, and a brand new fish sculpture behind the counter that looks like a set piece from a The Life Aquatic. Otherwise, everything appears to be exactly the same, including the menu: awesome and expensive. Being that this Sushi Seki is on 23rd Street, as opposed to the priciest zip code in the country, it seemed a good opportunity to point out that there is actually a (relatively) economical way to experience all that this place has to offer - the Special Platter for Two. For $80, you get 20 pieces of sushi and two rolls, and nearly all of Seki’s greatest hits will be represented. That’s a pretty solid deal for you and a friend, and it will even leave some room in your budget for a bottle of sake. You could certainly do worse for yourself before or after a visit to Madison Square Garden. Food Rundown Special Platter For Two A good way to sample Seki’s greatest hits. It’s 20 pieces plus two rolls, all for $80. A perfect amount of food for two normal people, or one really hungry person. Yes, that’s a dare. Salmon With Sautéed Tomato For you Sushi of Gari fans, this should look familiar. As a matter of fact, much of this rundown will sound familiar, as Seki was founded by a former Gari chef. Anyway, this is my favorite thing at Sushi Seki, and it’s always the first thing I order. Sit down at the sushi bar and start your night off with two pieces of beautiful salmon, each topped with a warm, perfectly seasoned sautéed tomato. Incredible. Tuna With Tofu Sauce Another facsimile of a Sushi of Gari creation. It’s a bright red piece of tuna topped with a tofu cream sauce, and it’s delicious. Do it up times two. Baby Yellowtail With Jalapeño Sauce Yellowtail and jalapeño are familiar friends on sushi menus around the world, and this order is a perfect example of that. The fish is topped with a bright green jalapeño sauce that tastes fresh and tangy and just the right amount of spicy. Red Snapper With Sea Salt This sht is so mind-blowing you’d think it was sprinkled with actual magic, but it’s really just some sea salt. I suppose that’s what happens when the snapper is of such high quality. Chopped Unagi With Avocado We love eel and avocado pretty much anywhere, but we especially like it when the eel has been chopped like this to improve the texture a bit. Seared O-toro You probably don’t need me to tell you that a piece of seared fatty tuna tastes good. This one tastes really, really good. Spicy Scallop Handroll Arguably what Sushi Seki is best known for. The spicy scallop handroll here is a thing of legend, thanks to what we like to refer to as “crunchy things” that you’ll find in the mix with the scallop and the spicy sauce. And yes, that’s a culinary term. Also, make sure you eat this thing right when the sushi chef hands it to you, while the wrapper is still crisp. Anything otherwise and you’ll be exposed as an amateur." - Chris Stang

Caviar’s Best Date Night Restaurants for NYC Delivery | Eater

"This Japanese spot has special late-night hours, so don’t worry if you get an appetite well into the evening. Choose from bestsellers like torch tomato sushi, pan-fried pork dumplings, beef negimaki (thinly sliced ribeye and scallions), or perfectly balanced salads. Entrees like Yuzu miso cod and New Zealand salmon teriyaki (served with seasonal vegetables) come with enough food for two." - InactiveUser7539929

Where To Eat Near 11 Comedy Clubs In NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"Your older brother once told you that an address was the only thing you two had in common, and it was an excellent diss, but it hurt you deep down. Sushi Seki and Gotham could say the same thing to each other, but probably without leading to years of therapy. This is one of our favorite sushi spots in the city, and it happens to be located in the same building as one of the best-known comedy clubs around. But while Gotham is where you go to watch stand-up and drink whiskey sodas, Sushi Seki is the kind of place where you can drop a ton of money on excellent raw fish. That being said, if you just order a few rolls and some udon here, Seki doesn’t have to be the most expensive part of your evening. You can thank Gotham’s two-drink minimum for that." - Hannah Albertine

Google
Excellent sushi (I highly recommend the omakase) in an unassuming environment. Some of the best sushi ever even though it doesn’t get the hype of places like Massa.

Google
Just an amazing experience of taste and fragrance and utter delight. The savory mix of the dishes with the brine of the ocean and the sweetness of the rice. It was a choreographed dance of flavors and textures. Tony always produces the best and the freshest and the cleanest. A must do! Enjoy it as I did! Another amazing night of this dance r of food for my birthday to be shared with the loving kindness of friends.

Google
Disappointed. Service was great but that was it. Our rolls had just a minced bit if fish and rice. Barely an appetizer for $75, better product at Kroger. Over priced basic dinning in a cramped space which made it loud to hear my partner. For what they want to charge the experience and food don't correlate.

Google
This place is the best. Don’t sleep on it!!! Seared marinated king salmon, kanpachi with jalapeño sauce, Chu and o toro, shima aji, yellowtail belly jalapeño, sautéed tomato salmon, red snapper shio, golden eye snapper. Uni with quail egg, ikura with quail egg, and so much more!!!! Every bite gives a moment of blissss. Not cheap, but quality and perfection!

I used to love it, then I went on a dry spell, but then had it again and it was awesome. Great job keeping this place together!

Really appreciate the staff being so kind and helpful. The sushi was outstanding and loved every bite I took! I'm literally obsessed with the black sesame ice-cream I have only had the ones that were completely black of color but the taste was so rich and lovely. Was really surprised to have such lovely food late at night. Thank you so much for this memory!

Google
Omakase Sushi. The best in freshness, flavour and balance of salt to sushi. I had a glass of Wakataki Junmai daijinjo as well which was a perfect complement. Dessert was on the house( thank you sushi seki) which was coffee and vanilla mochi. (Not pictured) Perfect for a hot Saturday evening. $150 give or take. Go early when they first open. The best sushi in Chelsea.

Amazing sushi/sashimi and all appetizers! Their fish was so fresh and melted in my mouth. It was my bday and they gave me very nice bday dessert. Server was great 👍

Yelp
Really nice restaurant, clean but tables were pretty close together. Service was okay sometimes they were really on it and other times not as much. But overall good service. The sushi was really good, the fish was so fresh. Everything else was a bit underwhelming. The crispy rice was the most underwhelming, it was tasty but nothing special. The seaweed salad was unexpected and not the standard seaweed salad but very tasty.

Yelp
Sushi Seki is, hands down, my favorite sushi restaurant (that isn't pricey omakase) in NYC. If you want an amazing sushi dinner that is high quality yet won't break the bank (less than $70 for a sushi dinner), I HIGHLY recommend Sushi Seki! I've been to their Chelsea and Times Square locations, but have yet to visit the original UES. The fish tastes so fresh, the rice is perfectly cooked/vinegared, and there is great variety. The restaurant is perfect for those who like traditional sushi (this comes from someone who has lived in Japan!) but also for those who prefer some with a more western/creative flair (although you won't find Philadelphia, Dragon, or other crazy rolls here). Their salmon with torched tomato sushi is a MUST. Their famous spicy scallop hand roll was a bit too oily for me, but my husband loves it. I'd rather save my stomach space for their fatty tuna that just melts in your mouth and their fluffy tamago (egg custard) sushi. They also have great edamame and even have hijiki seaweed salad, something that is super hard to find here in the states! It seems like in the last year or two the size of the sushi has gotten slightly smaller, but that could just be me wishing there was more. The staff is always so friendly, and their sushi chefs are the real deal--I conversed with mine in Japanese. It is always super packed, and be sure to request the sushi bar specifically if you want it. If not, they have some nice tables in the back. It's good for a date night or a night out with friends. Thank you, Sushi Seki, for being consistently amazing!

Yelp
This place is probably the best sashimi I've had In nyc. I went here with a couple friends and as soon as we walked in we were awes by the beautiful wooden interior. The real star is the sashimi in my opinion. The salmon has a nice char and it just tastes amazing. I would highly recommend that and their Hamachi special!
google avatar

Yelp
Service was very slow and the omakase was overpriced - you could eat a 2 Michelin star omakase restaurant for less than what they charged. The value was just not there.
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
First time here and the service and food were incredible! I enjoyed a dragon roll and an eel avocado roll! Additionally we ordered sashimi and miso soup! Everything was excellent! The place was exceptional They have a bar when you first walk in!

Gabriela S.

Yelp
$80 for the amount of sushi that fits in my palm. What. A. Rip. Off. The smallest sashimi pieces and smallest 6 piece rolls I've ever seen!!!! I added Avo and exchanged a cucumber (Naruto) instead of rice roll for the tuna and it came out to $23 for those small six pieces LOL For someone who eats sushi a few times a week I've never felt so robbed. Mad I didn't order Nobu instead.
google avatar

Yelp
Pricing was a little high, but standard for this area of the City. Service was okay, not too friendly more robotic. We had Miso Soup, Draft Asahi, Lychee Martini $19, Ikura, Yellow Tail Tuna & Scallion roll and Salmon Roll. I thought the Tuna Avocado roll at Emperor Dumpling was better. Sushi Bar seating was limited to the "Chef's Tasting Menu" only - Bummer. Not sure I'll be back, but I do want to try Hey Yuet (Lychee Martini $12) which is in the same area.

Yelp
*** 3.5 Stars *** It was good, but the Omakase was way overpriced compared to other, better Omakase experiences that I've had. While everything was good, there wasn't one piece that really blew me away. Usually when I have Omakase each piece is an experience. We had a good time and it was a lot of food, but I was surprised when the bill came out compared to the quality and mix of sushi that we had. Probably stick to the more basic items on the menu here.
google avatar

Yelp
Always great food and comfortable space. Great service. Quiet enough you can have a conversation, loud enough you can't heard the one next to you. Pretty classic menu, consistently good.

Yelp
Went on a Monday night with adult kids to celebrate new apartments and jobs. To my surprise it was crowded...A Monday night at 8 pm ( good sign). We are feeling adventurous and order the omakase... chef special menu. We chose the Sushi-only which was 12 pieces followed by a hand roll. WOW! Tuna, red snapper, salmon, fluke, uni (spelling?). Of course, Don't use soy sauce, not needed. Such interesting seasonings. I only gave it four stars because the service was a little slow at the start. However, once we put in the order the food came at a nice tempo. I'd go back. A Special experience. Oh and on our way out we found a big crowd next door waiting for the Gotham Comedy Club. There is also a very good movie theatre on same block (according to my adult kids). Could be a nice date night. Chelsea Hotel is also there...looks like it might have a nice bar. Oh if I only didn't have work in the morning! Wow!

Yelp
Had a pleasant experience at this modern minimalist Japanese restaurant. The staff were very nice. There was an extensive wine and sake list with a lot of really expensive choices. I stuck with the beer. We started off with some baked eggplant and Gyoza. They were very good. The sushi was above average and presented well. I had two small issues with our meal. The first one was that the uni at market price turned out to be $17 per piece. I didn't ask the price in advance, but was still pretty surprised. The second thing is that despite ordering slowly and trying to pace the meal, we were in and out of this restaurant in 52 minutes. Still, an above average meal.

Yelp
Came here on recommendation to try the omakase having heard that I'm trying to omakase my way across Manhattan. I've definitely had my Michelin omakases and then my budget omakases. I would say Sushi Seki is a good choice, but not necessarily the best bang for your buck. If you're eating to get full then sure, you'll get that. However, if you're looking for amazing experience (like the bar service at some other establishments around town), you're not exactly going to get that. Ambiance wise, it's loud. It's not the type of place I would sit and enjoy my sushi but rather, good for a friend's birthday (and not getting the omakase). PROS: - fish was fresh - great quantity - sushi rice was cooked well - interesting combinations of fish/sauce CONS: - not sure if it was worth the price - ambiance was not the best - service was okay, we always had something when we needed it. But it was just...okay. There was just the naming of the dish and that was it. I'd like to know a bit more about the piece I am about to eat, not just "flounder with sakura leaf". I don't think I would come again for omakase, but I would for a friend's dinner or if someone wanted to try it. But it definitely has room for improvement. Hoping to see it next time!

Yelp
Came here for omakase with a group of close friends. This was on a night when it was raining heavily in New York, but we ran while we got drenched in the rain to make it to our reservation on time. It was so worth it! We were seated on a cozy table, and each dish was beautifully presented and very flavorful. We paired our meal with a sake recommended by our server. This place is a must visit if you're in the mood for awesome sushi!
google avatar

Emily V.

Yelp
A spiritual experience. Seriously the omakase was so good it was like taking molly for the first time. Would 100% go again. service was also excellent.
google avatar

Nathan B.

Yelp
The staff were so attentive and the sushi was amazing. I didn't particularly like the seaweed salad - it was a different variety of seaweed so it wasn't what we were expecting. Definitely get the King Salmon and the soft shell crab if you can!
google avatar

Todd C.

Yelp
Very nice upscale place. Pricey and small portions, but very fresh and tasty. I ordered ala carte nigiri and edamame. I really like the hot water bath the sake comes in. I didn't have a reservation but they sat me anyway as long as I finished in 90 minutes which was fine with me. The decor was nice lots of wood and stone. The only thing that didn't play was the tarnished metal door that was held closed with string. For the price of dinner, a coat of paint or varnish and a doorknob would have been better.
google avatar

Madeline M.

Yelp
Zomg most delicious sushi I've had since I can remember. I ate ... everything from our omakase course. The back tables are so intimate too. A hidden

Yelp
Little birds told me that you have a chance of running into celebrities when you dine in this place. Some famous names that I've heard have dined here include Bradley Cooper and Selena Gomez. I didn't meet any famous people, but I still had the joy of experiencing really good omakase with casual vibe. Just between us, I like it when I can dine fancy while still be in sweaters and sneakers. Omakase is fun because the chef decides the menu for us (perfect for indecisive people like me). The staff will explain each dish and the order to eat it from. They will keep on serving new plate until you ask them to stop, so basically you can eat either until your stomach or your wallet gives up. Everything was delicious. The sushi was so fresh, the combination was very well balanced both in flavor and texture, and my favorite is perhaps the shrimp one (they serve the head deep fried and albeit the looks, it's actually delicious!) I feel quite stuffed by the end of it but still manage to fit in the mochi ice cream for dessert. It is definitely one of the more expensive dining experiences, but would definitely recommend once in a while for special occasions
google avatar

Ian K.

Yelp
Please don't tell Hanna from Pink Nori (Astoria, Queens) that I ventured to this joint for some sushi. It was wrong, I'll never do something like this again, and I paid for it...in many different ways. Upon our arrival we were seated right away for our 9PM reservation. Seems like they work like a well-oiled machine! The interior of the place is nothing short of fantastic. If I were to ever go back, we'd sit at the bar. Service was also tight. They were quick with drinks, appetizers, and our sushi/sashimi. Why 3-stars, Mouse? The food wasn't OUT of bounds good for the price we were paying! Dinner was $160+ for 3 people who ordered a few rolls, drinks, and edamame. It's like I was paying for just the experience at this place. Sushi was par for the course along with all the other items we ordered. I can ordered double what we got Seki at any place in Queens and pay ~45$. Off my rant. It's a great place to go for celebrity watching, celebration, or all other sushi restaurants have been closed down by the health department.
google avatar

Casey W.

Yelp
- ordered seki special, ankimo appetizer (special), waygu appetizer (special), everything was underwhelming except for the ankimo (monkfish liver) - came using time out table for two cards and still found the meal lacking - between the heavy accent and speech impediment I had a very hard time understanding the waitress - waygu appetizer was tender but lacked flavor and presentation, looked/tasted more or less like something you'd order from a take out restaurant, cubes of beef sauteed with mixed frozen vegetables, certainly not what one would expect from a high end trendy sushi spot - on the pricier side for such a casual spot - definitely more asian fusion than traditionalist - ankimo appetizer was the saving grace of the meal, pleasantly surprised by a much larger portion than expected, flavor and texture were ideal

Robert L.

Yelp
Recommend by a friend. It was one of the best sushi restaurants I have ever been to! Great ambience, great service and incredibly great food. Make sure to order the salmon and grilled tomato sushi, amazing!
google avatar

Nikiesha M.

Yelp
DISAPPOINTING!! I've been a dedicated Sushi Seki patron for the past 10 years. The Chelsea location, by far, has the WORST sushi of all 3 spots. The spicy scallion hand roll was soggy and dripping with oil. They didn't even bother to toast the seaweed wrapped around it, which made it even worse. I ordered omakase, as I always do at the other locations. Sushi Seki's signature pieces are typically an amazing experience. The omakase pieces at the Chelsea location were so bland!! My advice...don't even bother paying a premium price for sushi at this location when all you'll get is mediocre quality. I'll still with the uptown and Times Sq locations from now on. Lesson learned.
google avatar

Anh N.

Yelp
Great service! Decent fish. Super overpriced! Small portions and really expensive. Udon is not good. I can get so much more and better flavors at other sushi places for the same amount of money or even less. And these are reputable restaurants. Sorry, overall it gets a 1.5 but I can't give it 2 stars.
google avatar

Shawn H.

Yelp
This was great. The salmon/tomato pieces really are outstanding, and I also really liked the spicy scallop roll and fried oyster roll. The eggplant starter is excellent as well.
google avatar

Warmspots N.

Yelp
Wowowowow Seki Chelsea bravo! There are about six mini homes that they've created that are so warm and Covid safe! I really truly recommend this to anyone it was a 9/10 in warmth!! My jacket was off. And obviously the food is amazing. Follow @warmspotsny on Instagram for more warmth ratings!
google avatar

Miranda C.

Yelp
It shocks me that this has less than 4 stars. I've tried manyyyyy sushi places in NYC, from the lowbrow fusion type places to the high end, and this is consistently one of the very best. It's hard to find top tier quality fish that isn't omakase, and isn't super super minimalist. This is one of the absolute best. The sushi special is such a great meal - creative nigiri is not something you find so often, but all the fish is super fresh and delicious. Absolutely worth the price.
google avatar

Rachel L.

Yelp
My boyfriend reserved the Japanese room for our anniversary dinner which lands on Valentine's Day. I had never been here before, so I couldn't wait to try some of the amazing food he raved about. The menu came in multiple courses, and our server throughly explained each piece of fish, and how the chef recommended eating it. For the most part I didn't use soy sauce or wasabi. The sushi was definitely different from what I've had most of my life, and I was told that Sushi Seki is more traditional than most. But, I love trying new foods and new flavors, so that made it more of an excitement. Sushi Seki is definitely an "occasion" place. For two people it cost $495 with a prix fixe menu in the Japanese room on Valentine's Day. We also ordered a bottle of sake which made the bill close to $600 including gratuity. Honestly, it was some of the most interestingly prepared fish I've ever had, and we both left feeling very full. Unfortunately, I hate to tarnish a potential 5 star review but we had a three inch cockroach literally crawling up the collar of my boyfriend's neck. I could not believe my eyes when I saw this thing across the table. I screamed, he freaked out, and our waitress and the manager chased it around our feet after he knocked it off his body. We were good sports, and they apologized. I hope that isn't a normal occurrence.
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
One of the best omakase places in the city. My friend and I bonded with chef Tony and he gifted us Hagashi Toro. This piece of toro was unlike any other. The chef took these pieces from a special fridge that couldn't be seen like the rest of the fish from our vantage point at the sushi counter (that's how you know it was extra special)... The chef told us a story of a woman he used to serve Hagashi Toro to on the UES who would cry every time she had a taste of it .... We could hardly believe him! But once we put these beautiful, mouthwatering pieces into our mouths, Steph and I looked at each other, closed our eyes and melted in our chairs. It was life changing & amazing!!!
google avatar

Caroline R.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try Sushi Seki for a while. Every time I pass the Upper East Side location it is super busy. I read some mixed reviews about the Chelsea location and was a bit hesitant. A friend and I were hopeful and made a reservation for this past Tuesday. After a successful dining experience, I only have fantastic things to say about this restaurant!!!! The fish was so fresh, it melted in my mouth. Based on other reviews we went for the Omakase, specifically the Sashimi and Sushi option. This was a convenient way to try a ton of different things. We were able to tell our waiter any foods to stay away from and the sushi chef took it from there. We also ordered the Sushi Special and again the sushi chef was in charge. We can't wait to go again!!!!
google avatar

Caroline H.

Yelp
Omakase was amazing. Service was great! Def will go back. I had gone before and just got a roll and it was good, but this was soooo amazing. They add so many flavors and subtle ways to make each piece perfect. Absolutely no soy sauce needed on any of them
google avatar

Gabby R.

Yelp
I love Sushi Seki, I just wish it was slightly less expensive. I'll definitely be back here for a special occasion or the next time I am just in the area, but to me their special nigiri is the main attraction and is also the most expensive if you want to actually be full at the end of your meal. The fish is super fresh and I think the menu is fantastic, a little different from most sushi restaurants. The restaurant itself is also cute, I especially like the booths they have that are very private. Will be back here!

Lauren F.

Yelp
The dressing for the green salad needed a little more flavor, but the portion was definitely generous. The roll on the other hand was pretty small. The spicy mayo was also more sweet than spicy and overpriced ($2 for sauce?!). Fish quality was good, but won't be returning.
google avatar

Rebecca N.

Yelp
Fish is amazing and fresh and different. The salmon wirh tomato is out of this world. Loved the spicy scallop hand roll. Will absolutely be returning. Great service and good Ambiance.
google avatar

Gina P.

Yelp
What can I say? Sushi Seki, is a classic and legend. The ingredients are always fresh, the taste of every piece is always well balanced, its a great spot overall. My personal favorite and one of their classics is the sauteéd tomato w/ salmon piece and its a MUST TRY! However, it isn't cheap and dining there will set you back minimum of 150$ per person and you still might leave ready to eat some more. The reason I only gave 4 stars is because the customer service at times isn't the greatest and the hostesses and waiters can sometimes be very rude and forgetful.
google avatar

James W.

Yelp
The sushi here is fine. The price is very high for the quality you get. Some positives tonight were shishito peppers, hotate nigiri, and maguro chu toro. Dessert nice but not remarkable. The rolls were acceptable but everything tasted a little bland. All for $250 for two people - on the high side price wise given the quality and originality was just average.
google avatar

Anya S.

Yelp
Haven't had top quality sushi in awhile due to the pandemic. Indoor dining finally opened today and we had to stop by Sushi Seki. The restaurant did a great job at socially distancing the table. Because the restaurant wanted to make sure there was air circulation throughout the restaurant, there was a draft of air coming in so was colder than expected indoor which impacted temperature of the food especially the rice. But all in all, the sushi was delicious. My favorites of the night were the salmon with torch tomato sushi (must have), otoro, and uni. Can't wait to come back especially when the sushi bar opens!
google avatar

David W.

Yelp
Is was overpriced and a very limited menu in my opinion. Was convenient and service was good.
google avatar

Hannah G.

Yelp
Sushi is my boyfriends favourite and so he's been slowly introducing me to it. I thought I would treat him to a meal at Sushi Seki that was recommend by TimeOut to us. We decided to order a couple dishes at a time instead of everything coming at once so they kindly let us hold onto a menu. The food came out really fast each time and was so lovely and fresh. My favourite was the tuna dish and the prawn tempura special roll but honestly everything tasted great. The only one thing I wouldn't order again is the fresh octopus sashimi, but that's purely because of the texture. It freaked me out a bit! Note*** if you have the TimeOut Manhattan table for two cards like us then the sashimi is not included in the 50% off
google avatar

Justin F.

Yelp
Sushi was good however the tuna carpaccio was cooked so much it tasted like tuna fish. Asked the "sushi chef" to make another one and he began talking about me in Chinese. How do I know? Well I don't speak Chinese but every single sushi guy started looking at me as he was rambling on. One of the downsides to hiring non-Japanese chefs is that they rush to make the food and do not put emphasis on detail or presentation. Yes they're cheap labor but sometimes cheap is expensive. This place has good fish don't get me wrong but i'd personally prefer a traditional Japanese sushi restaurant that knows how to properly cut and serve.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate 1000 day anniversary with my wife. Decided to come on the worst day possible with the recent flood. Upon entering, we were seated right away as we had a reservation. We were curious about the omakase, but our server described it as chef's choice and i didnt know what we would be served so we decided to just try the seki special and udon. The sushi is def fusion in a good way. Interesting and fun twist on nigiris, my favorite was the tomato king salmon nigiri. Udon to finish off before heading home in the rain hit the spot. I still dont really know the difference between the omakase and seki special(which was like 12 nigiris and two rolls) bc the sushi pieces are similar but the omakase is almost more than double in price.

Yelp
Sushi Seki has thoroughly eclipsed our former favorite sushi place in the neighborhood (I won't name names) - it's like apples and oranges! Sushi Seki tastes so fresh and delicious, the rolls aren't overwrought, and I don't feel like I just ate the McDonald's version of sushi, the way I do with so many other sushi spots we take out from. We just ordered, and now we are ordering again. Have never eaten in the restaurant, but for take out, can't be beat (we pick up).

Yelp
Sushi Seki is my favorite go-to sushi spot in Manhattan! It is so delicious and the fish is so fresh. I came in last night with a friend and we sat at the sushi bar and the experience was phenomenal. We really enjoyed the spicy tuna roll, the spicy scallop roll, the medium fatty tuna sushi, the hamachi jalapeno sushi, and the sake. I love coming here to enjoy fresh and authentic Japanese sushi.

Yelp
Truly the best sushi restaurant in all of Manhattan. Hesitant to write this because I'd like it to remain a secret. You can almost always get a table but sushi bar is where it's at. Their specialty pieces are to die for and melt in your mouth. Baby yellowtail with jalapeño, salmon with tomato on top, and snapper with sea salt. You can't go wrong with that line up!

Yelp
Nice sushi dinner at Chelsea Location. We made a reservation on Resy for Monday night and we're seated right away. We decided to try a variety of food so we opted for 3 special rolls and the Three Golden Flowers. The Three Golden Flowers is basically 3 different special rolls; one with tomato (really different but interesting), one with tofu, and one with eel and avocado. All three of them were good, with the tofu probably being my favorite. For the other special rolls, we opted for the Spicy Scallop and the Seared Tuna. The Seared Tuna was nothing special, while the Spicy Scallop was really good and something I've never tried before. We also decided to get thee individual piece of king salmon sashimi, which were delicious. Finally for dessert we opted for the Mochi Trio (you get to pick 3 flavors and we went with green tea, black sesame and vanilla) and the Tempura Green Tea ice cream. Both dessert were good, but nothing to die for. Overall, we had a nice dinner, the service was quick and the food came out fast.

Yelp
Excellent omakase. Pricey but worth it. Sat at the sushi counter. Heightened the experience.

Yelp
Definitely ranks in the top 3 best sushi restaurants I've ever been too, and I am possibly the world's biggest sushi fan. Can't lie, it is pricey, but well worth it. The fatty tuna was off the charts, and surprisingly so was the spicy scallop roll. The fish was so high quality, and even the rice was perfect. Would recommend to anyone, especially sushi lovers.

Yelp
Recently attended this sushi haven last Saturday with a friend as part of my birthday festivities. We waited for a table for about 5 minutes before we were seated. The waitress was beautiful... She helped us with our menu, wine selection and checked in on us every 10 minutes to make sure we were ok. I tried every piece of special fish available "al a carte" and the taste of every piece was a different experience which is how eating sushi should make you feel when its prepared properly and the fish is of top quality. My only issue was with the Uni portion as you can see if your familiar with Uni , was too small. Any piece of sushi with a price tag of $8 or more should be served with a good portion. The wine was excellent as you can see in my smile that I was good and tipsy lol ... Overall I had a great time and the place is definitely well designed. It's a must that you pay a visit here if your in the Chelsea area and looking for a great sushi experience.

Yelp
Sushi Seki has a nice ambiance, the service is excellent and the Cucumber Sakitini remains one of my favorite cocktails at a Japanese restaurant. I rated this a three star for two reasons food and cost. I used to be a Seki regular and my favorite item on the menu was the Sautéed Tomato and Salmon piece ($7/piece), I ordered this item this week (plus a few other menu items) and was disappointed because it lacked flavor/taste. I would come here again because it's clean, convenient and the overall experience is still nice but it wouldn't necessarily be my first pick for Japanese.
