"Verdict: This secretive seven-person spot in Clerkenwell delivers one of the most high-end omakase experiences in London and it’s entirely worth it. The multi-course experience will cost you £187, but every piece of fish you eat in the hushed atmosphere of this alleyway restaurant will be memorable. Seats at Sushi Tetsu are obviously always limited. The online booking system opens at 12pm sharp every Monday for the following week and, if nothing’s available, add yourself to the waiting list." - jake missing, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak, heidi lauth beasley
"This tiny sushi counter in Clerkenwell only seats seven guests at a time, which makes it somewhat difficult to get a reservation. But that shouldn’t stop you, because it’s well worth the effort. The experience is a traditional, unforgettable affair and the fish is never less than outstanding. Everything, from the yellowtail sushi to extravagant pieces of king crab, is excellent and well worth the price tag. Seats at Sushi Tetsu are obviously always limited. The online booking system opens at 12pm sharp every Monday for the following week and, if nothing’s available, add yourself to the waiting list." - heidi lauth beasley, rianne shlebak, jake missing
"Clerkenwell’s Sushi Tetsu might be the hardest reservation in London. It also pound-for-pound serves the best (value) sushi in the city. To observe Toru Takahashi’s knife skills and to eat his omakase menu while receiving Harumi Takahashi’s gently flawless hospitality (the two are married) is to experience one of London’s most complete and completely brilliant restaurants. Know before you go: There are only seven seats in the restaurant, all at the sushi counter." - Adam Coghlan

"One chef, seven seats, and nigiri that justifies the agony—and eventual ecstasy—of getting a booking at Clerkenwell’s Sushi Tetsu. The experience is fairly traditional—the lone chef nips, presses, and folds each piece of fish in front of you, while his wife tops up your sake and asks you about your day. The fish is carefully selected depending on what’s best at the market, so expect a three-hour trust fall involving things like perfectly marbled tuna nigiri and yellowtail sushi that’s worthy of sonnets. Seats at Sushi Tetsu are obviously always limited. The online booking system opens at 12pm sharp every Monday for the following week and, if nothing’s available, add yourself to the waiting list." - rianne shlebak, jake missing, heidi lauth beasley
"Sushi Tetsu is a tiny, intimate omakase counter serving some of the best sushi in town. It isn't cheap, but it's worth it. Just know that this spot seats only seven guests at a time. It’s ridiculously small, which helps explain why it’s so difficult to secure a booking here. Everything is prepared by a single chef behind the counter, and you’ll toss back a perfectly marbled, luscious piece of tuna nigiri while he chats to guests as his wife joins in on the banter and refills your sake or tea. Seats at Sushi Tetsu are obviously always limited. The online booking system opens at 12pm sharp every Monday for the following week and, if nothing’s available, add yourself to the waiting list." - sinead cranna, jake missing, heidi lauth beasley
