One of the biggest lessons in life I'm adapting to is that 'it's never too late.' So, this review is for the amazing somewhat new Swahili Village in Beltsville. Oh, they got fancy, but in a great way. White table clothes, crystal wine glasses; the ones you tap and they hum, mm hmm. Yeah those. They have more space now, a cute little bar on the other side of the dining room, and this mural of an African sunset giving the dining room this warm and romantic glow. The food is still impeccable and service is great!
The wine list ranges from simple to sophisticated- Impressed.
My dish was amazing the TILAPIA "SAMAKI" FILLET a deep-fried tilapia fish, with bones in a rich coconut curry sauce. I added jollof rice and sauteed cabbage and had enough to take home! The fish was crispy with the head on it, the coconut sauce was perfect to balance out the spice.
To look around and see all of the bright smiling faces of various ages of people from African decent and other races, and cultures, stops my heart in its tracks and allows me to feel grateful, that the diverse and harmonious America we long for does exist in these charming small pockets, and sometimes the world doesn't seem so bad after all. So, take yourself down there and go eat!
