Sweet Rice JP Thai Sushi

We recently dined at Sweet Rice JP Thai & Sushi in Brookline, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. The food quality was outstanding, and the service was equally impressive, friendly, attentive, and efficient. From the crispy, flavorful takoyaki to the beautifully crafted sushi rolls and fresh, delicate nigiri, every dish was delicious and artfully presented. You can tell that a lot of care goes into both the preparation and presentation here. Overall, Sweet Rice JP delivers a perfect balance of great taste, beautiful plating, and warm hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone who loves quality Thai and sushi in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

The pinang curry was a little low on flavor which made it kind of bland. The drunken noodles were decent but not anything to write home about. The place inside is nice and there is a decent amount of space. It's a little pricey for the quality of the food. The sushi might be good but we didn't try it

Have gotten takeout here twice and both times my meal didn’t quite meet expectations. The sushi was good but warm when even though it was the only thing I ordered so it wasn’t touching anything warm. My recent pad see ew takeout was half empty soggy, lacking the spice i requested, and the tofu was quite bland. I think the portions for the prices are not a good deal. I would try eating at the restaurant for a better experience maybe!

The food was amazing very fresh. They have one to five spice level. I had a spice level 5 , I think it was the perfect spice level for someone who enjoys spicy food. However, my tolerance is really high and it wasn’t as spicy for me. The food was fresh, I had the crispy chicken drunken noodles,for appetizer, I had the spring rolls, And the Thai fried ice cream. Ambiance was nice , servers were kind.I am from NYC but I had to say that was some bomb Thai 🌶️🙌🩷 Oh and for vegetarians majority of the meat options had tofu or veggie substitute.

The Thai curry, appetizers, and fried rice were all fantastic! Super flavorful and very well seasoned. The sushi rolls were def worth your money. Raw fish were very fresh!

My partner and I both think of this place as a comfort because the quality of food, the service and the value for your money are just unmatched. Partner loves to get crispy spicy basil chicken and I love their veggie drunken noodles. Solid level of spice if you ask for it. We usually ask for a 4/5 spice level and it's well done. The only improvement they could have would be in consistency. I believe there are 2 different chefs and one of them is arguably the better one, especially at making drunken noodles. Whenever that chef makes the dish, the noodles are perfect in flavour, texture and have a nice char and kick to them. But the difference in flavour between the two chefs isn't too stark and even the food portion and taste is still good! Other things we've tried and liked include the tom kha gai soup! So heartwarming and delicious, like a warm hug in a bowl! The veg basil fried rice is another favourite of mine and always consistently great! Overall I recommend them for their food and the lovely and attentive staff who are always great. A special mention for how fast and efficient the service is! We've never had to wait too long for our food and we've easily eaten here over two dozen times!

I ordered to go, and the way the guy in the front greeted me made me feel important. The flavor of the curry was delicious and the fried dumplings was good. And the portions was hefty. I’m going to sit in next time. I devoured everything as you can see.

I come here at least once a week. I have been addicted for over a year, and I'm not upset. The crispy duck pad see ew lives rent free in my mind. The sushi rolls are also great (love the Michael Go). The massaman curry, pad thai, drunken noodles, and duck fried rice are also good. My friend says the Tom Yum is legit. I will come here until I die.

Interesting Thai and sushi bar(?j. We stuck to the Thai menu and enjoyed the delicious food. We had the crispy chicken, panang curry chicken, and Thai basil vegetables. Everything was good and I particularly liked the crispy chicken dish. Service was good and the vibe is of a local neighborhood place.

My mom orders for takeout from here often and there's always quite a few people dining inside when we go to pick up. I really like the pad c-u. It's very tasty. The basil fried rice is good. I always ask for them to make my food spicy and they don't deliver, but the food is still flavorful. Their portions always vary. A lot of the time, the container isn't even full. The sweet sticky rice with mango is my absolute favorite.

I stopped in for sashimi lunch. Fish wasn't the best grade but edible. I wouldn't mind stopping in again, but probably for their cooked Thai menu. Pleasant staff.

The is my local sushi place and a go to for when I'm craving sushi. The Thai food is also very good. It's great for lunch or dinner and very affordable. Service is also great! I prefer sashimi which requires a fresh product and I've never been disappointed. Definitely a great choice for a casual Thai/Japanese meal,

My recent visit to Sweet Rice JP Thai Sushi was nothing short of disappointing. We ordered the crab rangoon and teriyaki chicken wings for the table, but our meal was marred by a glaring issue: a hair found on the crab Rangoon before it even reached our table. We calmly and politely asked for it to be remade, understanding that accidents can happen. However, when the wings arrived alongside the crab Rangoon, we found another hair on them, which led us to believe they might have served the same contaminated dish back to us (Or someone was seriously shedding in the back). We politely asked for the crab rangoon to be removed from our table as well as the bill due to this unpleasant experience. After debating whether to stay, we decided to give the place another chance due to our time constraints. The remainder of the food was decent, and the service was passable, but the real issue emerged when we received the bill. When we inquired about removing the chicken wings from the bill as well, the waitress was polite but unsure of the transaction and called her manager. This is where things took a turn for the worse. Instead of addressing our concerns professionally and respectfully, the manager chose to belittle and berate us. He lectured us for minutes on the definition of fairness and insisted that we were asking for handouts despite our valid complaints about the unsanitary conditions which inconvenienced our meals. It was also concerning to us because we weren't debating with him, we handed him the card when he said "no" the first time and instead of doing his job, he insisted on berating us with a definition of a word he clearly didn't understand or know how to use properly. His condescending attitude and refusal to handle the situation appropriately made the evening incredibly uncomfortable and humiliating. We were left feeling disrespected and undervalued, and this experience has ensured that we will never return. We hope this review serves as a warning to others considering dining here. As for the manager we interacted with, I suggest that instead of trying to give out grammar lessons to his customers, he should provide hairnets for his staff :)

Living in Jamaica Plain, this was an absolute staple for us. Takeout is very efficient and the food is always up to par!

My coworker and I love this place. We came to replaced their rooftop unit and we tried their pineapples and mango fried rices very delicious. They have many more to choose from. We recommend this place if you love Thai foods.

This place used to be great. However, I ordered delivery and I'm pretty close-- less than 15 min away. The food was awful. I had to pick over my meal. I do not like overcooked shrimp. They were not fresh and they were tough and chalky in my mouth. The crispy rolls were soggy. At first I thought it was just the packaging but the gummy corn covered was a complete giveaway that the food was simply not fresh and/or overcooked. It was a waste of money.

i don't go to JP often, but my coworker and i stopped by for a quick lunch and we absolutely loved the food! we ordered the alaskan roll, tamago sushi, california roll, seaweed salad and one of the chef's special rolls. all were delicious and our total was about $60 including tax and tip. the servers were nice and the restaurant was clean. the location of the restaurant is convenient, and there is street parking near by. i highly recommend checking our sweet rice! overall rating: 9/10

So fresh and tasty. Got two sushi rolls, seaweed salad and a couple sashimi for two people and it was just right! The fish in the rolls were large portions. The shrimp tempura was fresh and the ship were large. Overall really enjoyed the food here and would definitely go back!

It is a nice and clean restaurant. The service and staff were okay. The food were more of Thai-fusion than authentic Thai food in my opinion. The drunken noodle that I ordered was okay. It could be more flavorful.

My kids were super tired, and the staff was very accomodating. When I said that we were vegetarian, they immediately got that I didn't just mean no meat; I also meant no fish sauce. My kids really liked the variety.

If you asked me to review this 2 years ago it would of been a 4. Pad thai is really dependent on the chef. Sometimes it's too dry and sometimes its on point. I used to always get the thai wings but its not worth it any more. They reduced the amount of wings in the order for the same price, last order couple of orders they weren't cooked through well enough. On the flip side it is decent thai food and some other dish are solid..so is the crab ragoon!

What's not to adore. We came in, seated promptly and soon thereafter asked for drinks. We ordered two different beers, they were delicious. Ordered appetizers, they are huge be forewarned. Avocado rolls and then brussels sprouts. Both portions were huge. We then ordered sushi and again the portions were large. Price was great for all the food we ate. Small pet peeve is the food came very quickly and the tables are too small to hold all the dishes -- we had to do some juggling with plates til it was orderly. And parking was easy and plentiful.

My go-to Thai restaurant in JP. Decided to actually sit in instead of getting takeout. Ambiance: Tables are very close together. Hello neighbor! Not a fan of the chairs though. They are super uncomfortable. Service: Poor. Looks like there's only one waitress for the entire place. It's not very big, but this place gets very busy. Food: Everything her is great here. Had the berry egg roll and loved it! Ordered the yellow curry with chicken. Very good, just enough kick to it. Only downfall, the few pieces of sweet potatoes served were not cooked all way. We ordered jasmine rice and was served white rice. I'm getting takeout next time.

Entrance door is a bit hard to open but once you are in you are welcomed with a warm greeting. Friendly staff and service. Prices are fair and reasonable especially for the healthy sized portions. The papaya salad was fresh, with spice (there could have been more heat ) and very filling. Definitely can share the papaya salad with at least 3 people. Enjoyed being able to take some home and enjoyed it just as much on day 2. Can't wait to enjoy more dishes as there menu is very extensive. Sushi was also

Stopped in for lunch one afternoon and was greeted kindly by the waitstaff. The menu has both lunch and dinner sized entrees available. Lots of options but I went with the crispy chicken basil with white rice. I asked for it mild but honesty could have probably done normal. It was crispy and savory. The rice looked like a small portion but ended up being just enough. Also liked how they gave lemon water. Bathrooms are clean as well. Overall, a great little lunch spot with Thai dishes and sushi. Note: the front door is pretty heavy! It might seem like they're closed but just pull hard :)

We enjoyed the sushi here. Reasonably priced, fresh, beautiful presentation. My bf really liked the spider roll. I liked the vegetable roll a lot (which had a lot of veggies and pickled veggies). We also got spicy tuna and a hand roll with avocado and salmon. It was delicious!

I've never had anything here below amazing! I've had both dine-in and lots of takeout. Dine-in experience is quick service! Only draw back is the tables are quite close to each other. I love the selection of chef signature sushi. Although some may say it's not true sushi since it's not raw, my favorite is the SpongeBob roll. It's covered in mango and a sweet sauce. It's a great contrast to any other rolls. I recently tried the shrimp mango salad and it was really light and refreshing. And don't forget the satay chicken, it is to die for.

Sweet rice is usually one of my go to restaurants, but tonight's experience was not good. I ordered the crab rangoon, crispy chicken pad see ew, and the avocado fresh rolls. The crispy chicken was nearly inedible. It tasted like it had been sitting around for hours and was fried in dirty oil. The noodles were lacking in sauce and didn't have much flavor. The avocado rolls were absolutely awful. They were 90% lettuce, barely any avocado, and the veggies didn't taste fresh. Incredibly disappointed with the decline in quality.

Some of the worst Asian food I have had in Boston. Their ingredients are also not fresh.

I was looking for a Thai restaurant. Was passing through the block and find this place. Overall it is good. Fried tofu Great! The tofu is fried but inside is still very soft. Crispy chicken basil Great! The chicken is fried first then served with sauce. It is not crispy, instead it feels like teriyaki chicken. Seafood noodle It is noodle fried and stir with seafood. Good. Pineapple fried rice There are pineapple, shrimps and chicken. It is not like traditional Thai fried rice. I feel like it changed the flavor to accommodate American customers. If you like, try to add some soy sauce, that makes it taste better. Fried ice cream Fried shell of flour with vanilla ice cream inside. Just a normal ice cream.

I really appreciate this huge menu and how accommodating they always are for all of my dietary restrictions (vegetarian and lots of allergies). The food is good but this past delivery was a bad experience. I was delivered the wrong order and I notified the delivery driver. He said he would come back and get it and take it to the right house. I said the bag was opened it's not sanitary to take it to the persons house and he started yelling at me so I ended the call. I threw the food away and called the restaurant and the person I spoke to said I had to get the food out of the trash and bring it in to show them in order to get a refund on my food which is never received. Unethical business practices

The food is very good. I usually order the Drunken Noodle and pot stickers. I go there often.

This time, we got the Pad C U with chicken and the Pad thai with chicken. The quality was similar. Pad thai was very greasy and didn't have a strong enough flavor. Pad c u was pretty decent though. We also got the berry rangoons again, which were just as solid.

Wonderful discovery! The setting is quaintly little. The food was excellent, and the servers were quite kind. We ate drunken noodles, sushi, spring rolls, and papaya salad. The amounts were big, and you could choose how spicy the food was. I heartily endorse this location! Very simple and delish!

I love Thai food and have to eat it whenever I'm in Boston. Pad Woon Sen and Pad C U with wide noodles (some places use regular rice noodles) can be difficult to find in Central Maine. Needless to say, I had to order both lol. The portions are generous. I was surprised how much duck came with the duck noodle soup. The only thing I would pass on in the future were the Thai pancakes. They were fine, just not my favorite. Food was delivery quickly, maybe it's just good timing.

I've never eaten in person at Sweet Rice but I've gotten take out several times and it's always delicious! This has become our go-to spot for sushi takeout in JP. Consistently the fish is fresh, flavorful, and affordable for sushi. The Toro Fantasy roll is a go to favorite, but I'm also a fan of some of their simpler maki rolls like the spicy tuna or salmon and any of the eel rolls. I've also ordered some awesome sashimi here. We've ordered non-sushi as well and were very happy. Spring rolls and the avocado fresh roll are great and we really like their duck entrees. My only issue with the sushi is the fairly American-ized menu. I really dislike cream cheese in my sushi and the majority of the specialty rolls have it. The specialty rolls also lean very heavy on shrimp tempura which is also not a fav of mine - if I'm craving sushi I want the raw stuff. Sweet Rice also doesn't offer a sashimi plate as an entree - you have to order a la carte or get the sashimi appetizer (9 pieces, 3 types of fish, usually salmon, tuna, and yellowtail) which is too small to be an entree alone. Sashimi is my go-to sushi order so I wish there were more options for me to make that my whole meal without spending $50+. There is sashimi included in the party boats but all the boats include at least one maki roll with cream cheese so I'm SOL. But if you're down with the CC life go for a boat and save some shekels. If Sweet Rice expanded their sushi offerings to be a bit more fish-centric and a bit less American this would probably pivot to a 5 star review. Regardless, I look forward to being able to visit and eat in the restaurant whenever covid frees us from hibernation -- so probably 2025

If I've said it before I'll say it again. I LOVE Sweet Rice! The sushi is amazing! The fatty tuna is so delicious and decadent. I would come back any day for it.

Let me first say, I was very excited to see that there was another sushi option that opened up in JP. Buuuttt.. This started off a little rocky. I showed up at 3:45 and there was a sign on the door saying they were on break from 3-4p. Not so bad (I guess given the time) but I was hungry when I showed up! I came back though and it was a pleasant experience. I ordered a couple orders of sashimi - salmon and unagi. I also ordered the Sushi Bomb roll. I should have waited to drink my glass of wine because apparently, I didn't read the description thoroughly. It was a tempura type role (which I wasn't intending on getting) but it was actually pretty good. The service was wonderful with one exception. There was one waitress (different than the one I had) who checked on me and then brought my bill. I hadn't even finished my wine and food! Smh. The waitress I had was great though. Shoulder length hair and tiny. That's all I know. Anyway, recommend anyone in JP (and beyond) to try this spot.

Visited this place during my lunch break order the crab Rangoon and the shrimp tempura sushi! It was well worth it! Will be going back to her some more goodies!

Sweet Rice is AMAZING! I ordered the crispy chicken fried rice and it was the best fried rice I've ever had! They also had an amazing spicy sauce!! My friend and I were skeptical about having cranberry in our goons but o m g they were the best goons ever. It's right on centre street so it's close to a lot of good stores and parking is parallel on st but I've never had a problem finding a spot! 10/10 will go forever

We hadn't been here in a while but had always liked the food. My husband had a hankerin' for lemongrass chicken, which is not easy to find for some reason, and he was excited to see that it was on the menu. Meanwhile, chicken krapow is my go-to in any Thai restaurant but, sadly, it's not on the menu so I ordered drunken noodle instead. The noodles were an odd texture, mushy and gelatinous, and the lemongrass chicken didn't have much flavor. A disappointing visit.

Usually not bad but the pad Thai I got this past weekend had no flavor, there was 1 one-inch piece of a scallion in the entire order, chicken was skimpy and dry, and the whole bottom layer of noodles was glued to grand stuck to bottom of dish. Disappointing!

I don't write a lot of reviews or really any but this place has been my go to for years for take out delivery and when time permits I have dined in. Their food is consistently fresh and delicious! I honestly have had so many disappointing experiences with take out and delivery being sub par versus dine in and that has never been the case here. They have a huge menu and it's all great! Sometimes you just want a red dragon roll and pad Thai at the same time, ya know!

Plain food... did they recently change the chef? I have ordered from this place more than a year and has been always delicious and was my go-to for Thai food, but yesterday I ordered tempura (good) wontons (my favorite), spring rolls (unsatisfactory) yellow curry (mediocre) pad Thai (AWFUL) so sad... I need to find a new place now

Overall good resturant with excellent service nd quality. Took my son nd a feiend here for dinner. We were plesed feom strt ti finish. S an added bonusthe tea was fab nd prices reasonble. I willbe going there again

This was our go to Thai place in JP for a few years. The food is good and Sweet Rice has always made Thai Food night a happy one. They're always responsive when we call and the delivery used to be very fast. Things seem to have shifted a little bit the past year - higher prices (I'm guessing inflation though) and a little bit slower (again, feel like it is just how it is right now). If we still lived nearby / when we're in the area we would still happily visit Sweet Rice.

The rice was a tad sweet but it was also so dry it was crispy in places. I've gotten better Sushi at Roche Bros. On the last the hand my husband loved it.

Fried shumai pineapple rice is my go to yum. Go her you will not regret it and for dessert fried ice cream

Their drunken noodles are really tasty-- definitely my favorite in Boston thus far. They have a nice spice level and are very savory (I hate places where they make them sweet). There also is a solid quantity of vegetables and tofu, they do not scrimp on the toppings. I also like their rolls. I wish they had more exciting/complex vegetarian maki rolls, but you can request that they make you one. When I had them do an avocado, sweet potato tempura, and asparagus roll it was Finally, they are gear for both dining in and take out.

5 stars for the drunken noodles which were reasonably priced for the shrimp option and pretty good. Very sauce-y and I liked the vegetables they added in - more than the typical broccoli and such. The noodles were a bit too over cooked at some points, but that's better than undercooked, I guess. 3 stars for the Thai iced coffee which was pretty meh. Not in the top half of the best iced coffees I've had. Best I can say about it is that it was at least flavorful and not diluted. So average is about 4 stars, maybe 4.25.

Part of a small chain, this "all in one" has Thai food, Japanese cuisine, and other Asian specialties, like Vietnamese spring rolls and Chinese food. Unfortunately they don't do any one thing spectacularly well. The sushi chefs at the bar put together nigiri and fish crudo bowls and rolls that are fairly basic, but nothing that really wows the palate as anything super fresh about that day's catch or uniquely creative. If you want top level sushi, there are other places in town. If you want a basic generically Asian restaurant that may satisfy some in your group, this is not a bad choice.
