Sweetgreen Launches ‘Protein Plates’ to Serve Customers at Dinner - Eater

"Sweetgreen occupies the upper echelon of the office lunch offerings. It’s an aspirational order, the (shaky) promise that warm roasted portobellos or za’atar breadcrumbs offer more nutrition, or just more sophistication, than a Panera sandwich." - Jaya Saxena

Sweetgreen Launches Sweetlane Drive-Through Concept | Bon Appétit

"Sweetgreen, a trendsetter of fast-casual salad culture, has dominated office worker diets for over a decade. Its stores have been concentrated in and around major US cities since its first location opened in 2007." - BySam Stone

Sweetgreen’s First Dallas Location Will Open November 23 | Eater Dallas

"This beloved salad-and-grain-bowl chain is opening its first Dallas location in Uptown’s West Village on Tuesday, November 23 at 3636 McKinney Avenue. Known for staples like Guacamole Greens, a kale Caesar with roasted chicken, and rice bowls such as the mushroom-forward Shroomami, the Dallas outpost will also debut an exclusive Texas Garlic Chili Shrimp Bowl that pairs shredded kale and cabbage with Cajun shrimp and warm wild rice, finished with apples, raw pecans, and a drizzle of nuoc cham dressing. Opening promotions include free in-app delivery for the first two weeks, and for every meal sold on Monday, November 29 the restaurant will donate a meal to Brighter Bites." - Adele Chapin

Salad Chain Sweetgreen Will Open Its First Dallas Location This Year | Eater Dallas

"I learned that a cult-favorite salad chain known for its completely customizable salads and bowls, Sweetgreen, will open its first Dallas location at 3636 McKinney Avenue in Uptown later this year. Founded in Washington, D.C. in 2007, Sweetgreen expanded to Texas in 2019 with a Houston location and opened its first Austin outpost in 2020. In the McKinney Avenue scratch kitchen, the chain plans to prepare and serve salads and grain bowls made with produce sourced from local farms; beyond customizable salads and menu favorites like the garden cobb salad, the menu features a crispy rice bowl with blackened chicken, lots of veggies, and spicy cashew dressing, as well as the “Shroomami” bowl made with roasted sesame tofu, portobello mushrooms, beets, kale, and miso-sesame-ginger dressing. Responding to lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Uptown restaurant will have two separate entrances—one for in-person dining and a second opposite-side entrance for delivery couriers and takeout—to separate flows and create a calmer dining experience. The pandemic has also extended permit timelines and changed construction practices, slowing rollout plans, but the company is planning a significant deployment across the DFW area; the McKinney Avenue location is expected sometime in winter (Q4 2021)." - Amy McCarthy

Google
We’ve ordered from this location multiple times through DoorDash, and each time the food has taken over 45 minutes. There is always some kind of “delay” or “situation,” leaving the dasher waiting for an extended period. Unfortunately, the in-store experience hasn’t been much better — long wait times and unhelpful or rude staff. This is disappointing, especially since other locations do not have these same issues. editing my review: sadly, after finally receiving our order, my salad (that does not come with apples) had a half eaten apple chunk in it. There are very clearly teeth marks. DISGUSTING. DO BETTER.

Eva P.

Google
This place is getting worse every year. Size of the bowl got significantly smeller, and the price went up. Quality of the meals is not like it was a year or two ago, not mentioning five years ago, when it was a great lunch spot. Got my usual today and it was horrible. All vegetables were overcooked like a mash, tasteless. I asked for a medium level of dressing, and my food was swimming in the oil. Somewhere in the middle of eating I discovered a hair on the side of my meal….disgusting. Never again

Google
We enjoy the variety of meals that sweetgreen offer and are pleased with the service of this location. The inside appears nice; however, we normally take out and have not had any issues with food quality or preparation. Overall, Sweetgreen is a great and convenient way to get tasty, healthy food.

Google
We ordered for a second time from here, for delivery for 8 people. Service was just as good as before, no issues. Everyone’s order arrived as expect, no issues. This time I ordered a create your own. It was very good, loved the flavor and freshness. See pick for my ingredients in my create your own. Will definitely order from here again. We ordered lunch from here today to be delivered for 6 people. Pretty easy ordering and delivery, happened within 30 minutes, food arrived still warm. All orders were correct, nothing missing and nothing messed up with any of the 6 orders. I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken, loved the sauce, it had a great taste and flavor. I am not one that eats at the healthiest places, but this food was great, would definitely order from here again in the future.

Google
I’ve been a loyal Sweetgreen customer for years, and I’ve visited many locations across different states. Unfortunately, after consistently coming to this location for 4+ years, I can confidently say it falls far below the standard Sweetgreen is known for. 1. Bowls & Portions – They’ve switched from the standard bowls to much smaller ones, and staff often try to serve salads on plates when a bowl is clearly ordered. Portions are consistently minimized, and if a topping is even slightly over, they take food back instead of simply serving it. Compared to other states, the portions here are noticeably smaller and feel stingy. 2. Dressing Issues – It’s shocking how often this location is out of balsamic vinaigrette. I understand shortages happen, but it has become a frequent problem. What makes it worse is that balsamic is usually available for delivery orders, yet customers in-store are told it isn’t an option. 3. Customer Service – Aside from a few kind team members, most of the staff seem uninterested in being there, which creates an unwelcoming experience. I hate to leave this kind of review because I truly love Sweetgreen as a brand, but this location badly needs attention from management. The standards here don’t match the quality and experience Sweetgreen promises, and it’s disappointing as a loyal customer.

Andrew L.

Google
$2 for goat cheese and this is how much they put. I’ve seen them scoop it before dozens of times this is not even close to a full serving. I complain and just get a smug smile. What the actual hell sweetgreen I’ve been a customer for years.

Fancy D.

Google
A nice spot with plenty of veggies to choose from. I had the roasted tofu as my protein and it was yummy! The mushrooms were also good! I loved that they tossed the bowl with all of the ingredients I chose. Also, the portions are plentiful, so I have two or three servings in bowl.

Kat K.

Google
My first time coming to this location. I walked up to the cashier to let him know I was there to pick up an online order. I guess he was non verbal because he just pointed to where I should go. (Not friendly). My dish was okay, they seem to have put all the pepper in a single spot in the dish, it was odd. They also gave me my order and forgot a dish at first. Thankfully I wasn’t too far out before we both realized the mistake.

Yelp
My favorite SG location in Dallas! Although it is usually busy, the staff is friendly and accomodating and willing to help in anyway they can. There are seating options indoors and outside. The food is always fresh and well stocked. I usually build my own, but you can't go wrong with choosing a premade salad. Modifications are always allowed!

Yelp
I've been a loyal Sweetgreen customer for over a year, and I absolutely love their salads and dressings. My go-to is the Guacamole Greens Salad with pesto vinaigrette and a squeeze of lime. I sometimes pay extra for avocado and other toppings, and even though my salads usually total around $20 or more, the quality is worth it. What makes Sweetgreen stand out is their commitment to using high-quality oils like avocado oil and olive oil. However, in the last year, I've noticed an issue that's been disappointing. Occasionally, the pesto vinaigrette has been extremely watery. It completely ruins the salad, making it taste bland and unappetizing. I'm not sure if the dressing is being stretched or diluted, but for the price and the standard Sweetgreen represents, this is unacceptable. I truly love Sweetgreen and what they stand for, but this issue needs to be addressed immediately. Please stop watering down the dressings and maintain the quality we've come to expect. I'd love to keep enjoying my favorite salads without this recurring frustration. Thanks

Yelp
Good experince and tasty salads! We ordered through Uber eats for about 15 people. All of our items came in the delivery which was great. We didn't receive any napkins or utensils which was a little disappointing but the food was good and everyone enjoyed their meal.
google avatar

Caroline Z.

Yelp
I'm so delighted by the existence of sweetgreen. Unfortunately the location I order from doesn't have the hot honey plate as an option to pick, so I just use the create your own plate option to make it! Their steak and tofu are pretty good too, and their sauces are somehow all amazing!!
google avatar

Konnori B.

Yelp
I never tried Sweetgreen but decided to since Salata down the street was closed for remodeling. Upon entering, I noticed how clean the place is. I created my own bowl with quinoa, spinach, sweet potatoes, pickled cabbage, and other veggies. It was delicious! The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the cashew sauce. It didn't have a lot of flavor. Since then, I have returned twice and have liked each bowl I got. However, the bread they gave was hard and not very pleasant to eat; I never got it again when I returned. Also, the service the third time I went was not up to par (one of the workers was agitated and it shouldn't have showed). I probably would not return on a busy day like Sunday. Overall, I'll come back to Sweetgreen during the week when it's not so busy.

Yelp
Food was amazing and service. I highly recommend you to go to this place! Healthy choices and Fresh.

Yelp
Always a great experience eating here, everyone is very friendly and the bowls are amazing! Food was tasty and very filling. Will be coming back.

Yelp
We LOVE sweetgreens! Since we don't have one where we live, we always try to go whenever there's a location where we're visiting and this one was great! We went Friday evening and had a great experience! There were only a couple other tables but everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals! Staff were friendly and the restaurant was clean and tidy! Pro Tip: Harvest bowl is always the way to go :)

Sarah M.

Yelp
My order was not delivered. Customer support just refunds you without trying to locate your order, so that means no lunch for me. I will not use Sweetgreen again.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
I love this sweetgreen location! It's spacious inside, always clean, and out of all the locations I've been to, the food is the freshest and best! They have awesome drinks and a clean water station. It's also an easy walk from anything in the West Village area. Everyone who works here is enthusiastic and really friendly. I love this place!!!
google avatar

Eva M.

Yelp
When waking it could be a long line it couldn't be. It's all depends on day and time. Fanatic spot and location. The people are kind and friendly. You can customize the salad or warm bowl however you like it. There no judgment. You can sit inside or outside depending on your mood. Overall great spot to get your salad.

KaSandra M.

Yelp
Food was delicious! Staff was friendly. And it was kept nice and clean - very impressed. Only thing I did not like at all was how cold it was in there.
google avatar

Jingwen Z.

Yelp
I love sweetgreen's bowls and concept, but this store has a ways to go. I placed an order for pickup, and the bowl was initially mistakenly made into a plate. When I pointed this out, the person making the bowl kindly converted it to a bowl - but it was still plate-sized and not as substantial/large as a true bowl. Furthermore, bread and dressing were completely left out, which I didn't notice until I had opened it up at home. The next time I order here, I may just have to order it in person to ensure it's correctly made, but it defeats the purpose and convenience of pickup/delivery options in the first place. Please ensure better quality checking processes!
google avatar

Hannah S.

Yelp
I have grown accustomed to the sweetgreen in California which made this experience quite disappointing. For starters, the young lady behind the counter was struggling to put the proper ingredients in my bowl. This location is very clean and I have always been a fan of their open concept when it comes to the prep area. Overall, I wouldn't say it's a must visit but it's good in a pinch.
google avatar

Melissa W.

Yelp
The worst takeout we have ever ordered. The focaccia and hummus appetizers came without hummus and cold. We both ordered chicken bowls and the white rice was uncooked to the point of being hard as a rock and both entrees were cold. When we tried to get a refund, we were denied without providing photos of the meal. Not sure how you could convey uncooked rice and food temperature in a photo, plus the food was in the trash. Never again. There are way too many great bowls places in Dallas to ever order this again.

Yelp
i've been seeing sweetgreen mentions via youtube and instagram. i've always wanted to try, but i never knew there were any near me. however, i was around uptown dallas and i was about to get salata, but then i saw sweetgreen! i decided to give it a try food: 5/5 - there were so many options, but the super green goddess seemed appealing for me. it was affordable as well. when i took the first bite, i was amazed. i finished the whole bowl with every pleasant bite! loved it and would get it again. service: 5/5 - it was my first time there, so i was a bit lost. however, the lady was so kind and helpful. ambiance: 5/5 - it was giving uptown dallas vibes for sure. i loved it, it was a great city-healthy life vibe. i also ate outside on a nice sunny evening, loved it!
google avatar

CeCee S.

Yelp
Nice neighborhood spot in uptown. I always stop by after my walk or after shopping. The ingredients are simple fresh and filling. Creative flavor combos. They have their standard bowls and seasonal offerings. Also have bowls that are for online orders only. The service is friendly and quick. You instantly feel healthier after eating here.
google avatar

Brandi B.

Yelp
I had this sweetgreen for the first time and I'll definitely be back. I got the Crispy Rice Bowl and added sweet potatoes and it was SO GOOD. I'll probably go medium on the dressing next time because it was a bit much but I'll definite be back. The lady that did my bowl was the sweetest and advised me on what I should get and she didn't steer me wrong.
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
Ordered delivery at work today. I was disappointed to find much smaller portion size compared to other sweet green locations.

Regiano M.

Yelp
My new favorite casual dining experience in Dallas! love this place. The salads are extraordinary. I always get the barbecue chicken salad and it's amazing every time. I definitely need to try some of the other things, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
google avatar

thienly n.

Yelp
AMAZING!!! I love sweet greens and am obsessed now! This was the first time I had ever been and I demolished the bowl! Their spicy cashew dressing was so good! Their Buffalo cauliflower had the perfect crisp on them and flavors were all 10/10! The staff was friendly, helpful, and efficient! The interior was clean and such pretty colors! I will def be going back! The only negative is that the price is pretty high which is understandable for their quality ingredients but I still wish it wasn't so expensive. All in all definitely recommend!
google avatar

Kelsey K.

Yelp
Got the crispy rice salad added red onion and avocado along with the sesame dressing and the dressing it comes with it was great! We also got the Buffalo chicken salad which was good but the blue cheese was too chunked together because of how it was scooped.

Anastasia V.

Yelp
i think the staff is so nice!! they remembered who i was & my order literally the second time i went there! exceeded my expectations & i had high expectations!!!
google avatar

Lauren-Ashley B.

Yelp
I normally visit the Deep Ellum location, however they just closed it down. This location is the closest, I just received my order and the premium toppings they charged me extra for was not included, the portions are smaller and the quality of the green goddess ranch is not fresh like I'm use to with the other location which really sucks. 1 bad salad and it puts a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended) I'll be laying off sweetgreen for a while until I find a better location where quality & consistency is important

Erik I.

Yelp
Used to love Sweet Greens. The last two times I have ordered from this location something was missing from the bowl. This last time the salmon was missing. The portions have also got significantly smaller and not worth the price.
google avatar

Coleton D.

Yelp
Online Orders here are continually wrong, and portion sizes are such a hit or miss. Sometimes will order half rice half lettuce and they'll forget the rice completely, leaving me with half a meal. At least 50% of the time if you add bread, you will not have bread in your meal. Really want to love sweetgreen because of it's convenient location and easy online ordering, but unlike chipotle they just don't have the online system completely nailed down. Should be notified if something is out, but maybe the employees are just forgetting the items entirely. Salad with no meat or cheese or premium toppings is $9. Can easily hit $15 for a salad if you add a meat and some cheese. My photo attached is supposed to be a lettuce and rice bowl, with bread, but you'll see it's just half a salad and no bread. Hopefully gets better over time!!!

Liz H.

Yelp
Sweet greens in West Village needs to work on consistency. I order the Miso Salmon often and either I get enough salmon for an anorexic adult or a child's meal size -- all with the same cost! And it's not like the salmon is freshly cooked on spot its sits in a heated pan for hours upon hours. So better or reduce the price. Staff is cool.
google avatar

Cat N.

Yelp
Got a crispy rice bowl and loved it! I don't eat salads on the regular because it's never filling plus they're generally overpriced if you add protein. Then warm bowls here includes rice and protein, my bowl came out to be $13 so not bad! Overall, solid salad place. Flavorful for sure and this location is convenient to walk to for lunch
google avatar

Abby J.

Yelp
I come to this sweetgreen often since it is just a short walk away from my apartment. Every time I order through the app and pick it up it is not ready in time and my order is incorrect. Today I ordered 2 bowls through the app and neither of them had chicken. It's impossible to get in contact with anyone that can help. If you're wanting sweetgreen definitely go to a different location.
google avatar

Jenna M.

Yelp
Yves made the whole experience so enjoyable! Yes there were a lot of charges for extra items, but the great customer service and delicious bowl made it completely worth it. I definitely recommend and will be coming back!
google avatar

Ahmed K.

Yelp
Overpriced Salad, And little black dots in the salad which may have been insects if I'm not washing the lettuce. definitely won't be back ever again.

Toi F.

Yelp
I ordered a custom salad via Uber. Their order receipt is in bold large print so items I paid for were missing. It's literally an itemized bill, how did the preparer miss them. It socks because I am forced to eat a paid for incomplete salad. I doubt l try here again, 1st impressions are lasting 1's and this was my 1st time patronizing. I'm not a fan of wasting money, especially when your prices aren't negotiable.

P P.

Yelp
Pros -good healthy salad options -can substitute meat for vegetarian options -flavorful Cons -small portion size for the price...almost $13 and the bowl was not filled to the brim
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Walked in for the first time ever yesterday and was totally blown away. I live down the road and I think this will be a new go to spot! For one thing; Joseph, who helped us, was absolutely amazing. He was so friendly, helpful, and patient with us! My friend and I both ordered the Curry Cauliflower seasonal salad and wanted very different modifications and Joseph took it in stride. He even let me sample two dressings I was torn on. Wish I would've taken a photo. The salads were both beautiful and 10/10 DELICIOUS! Cannot recommend enough.
google avatar

Jorena L.

Yelp
Took me so long to finally try sweetgreen! Had to go with the popular Harvest Bowl which I got with blackened chicken. Service was efficient. She really filled up my bowl to the top and all the ingredients looked and tasted fresh. At $13, I was able to make 2 meals out of it which I think is pretty good. The balsamic vinaigrette dressing really ties all the flavors together and I would definitely order again!

Jack G.

Yelp
I loved this place, seeking out the freshness and good nutrition weekly. Today, I ordered my normal salad, dressing on the side and got gouged for 5 extra toppings. when I asked why, it was for the dressing on the side. My advice, get the dressing on the salad! At least tell me about the new pricing and then I can decide! I left promptly, the salad uneaten and found an incredible salad and service next door.
google avatar

Yelp
New healthy place in the Lakewood area! Exciting as they source ingredients and supports local fams aka organic friendly:) i got guac greens and its looks and tastes delectable.! Manager is super friendly:) check it out and support them.

Yelp
***update*** Changed from 3 stars to 1. Got home and my order is totally wrong. Should have checked before I left. Tried to call store and received a voicemail asking for my email address. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Be prepared to place your order via their app and wait. Due to being short staffed (although I saw five employees) they have closed the in-store line. The only way customers will know this if they read the sign tapped to the window. I waited a while at the register until another customer told me to place the order online. Feel sorry for older customers who aren't as tech savvy. Great salads but need to work on staffing issues. I'll come back, just will place order before I leave house.
google avatar

Marz H.

Yelp
Best salad place ever! Run, I don't walk to get here. Terrific salads with healthy ingredients making interesting combinations, or choose your own ingredients à la carte. Reasonably priced. I wish this restaurant was in my neighborhood!

Lee L.

Yelp
Excellent food, fresh ingredients, prompt and friendly service. Seating area was clean and tidy. I really appreciated being afforded the opportunity to recycle my waste.
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Super fresh, fast and reliable. Every salad I've had here is perfectly portioned, love the variety of fresh ingredients and delicious dressings not to mention the crunchy beets are such a treat!
google avatar

Luis B.

Yelp
Food is great but service is incredibly slow. Compared to the typical sweetgreen service, it'll easily take you a good 10 min to go through the salad selections with someone. I think since it's a new location, most (all?) people working here are new and they're not used to the fast paced method of taking orders/ serving. Very very very slow service.
google avatar

Nazin H.

Yelp
Bomb, bomb, bomb! 10/10! Don't go giving negative ratings here, we need Sweet Green, otherwise we will be left with the sub par Snappy Salads with its limp ass lettuce (it's a no from me dog!). Suggested bowls: harvest bowl, Buffalo chicken bowls, be creative and make your own damn bowl. Bottom line, you wont regret it. No photos cause I ate my food so damn fast.
google avatar

Kimmie T.

Yelp
"Abusive" super long wait time !!! Covid hot ho spot !!' Food is ok, but the lines are super long on both done in and to go especially lunch time.
google avatar

Lala H.

Yelp
Okay retried this place and the harvest bowl was so much better! Loved it this time around
google avatar

Yelp
Finally the best salad chain arrives in Dallas! I used to frequent sweetgreen when I lived in chicago and California multiple times a week. I attended the preview event on Saturday and the new west village store is beautiful as all the sweetgreen build outs are. The staff while still finishing training during the preview event were all very nice and friendly. The salad I got was delish and just as great as I remembered it. Looking forward to being able to have sweetgreen regularly every week again! These guys will crush the horrible knock off other crappy salad chains in dallas. Hope they add plenty more locations!
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
Love this place for an easy and quick yet healthy lunch! So many options -- especially love the fall seasonal menu items. Clean space to eat/work as well. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
The best fresh salads for people on the go!! I had the super green goddess salad and loved it! Super easy to order online and pick up! Download the sweetgreen app using my invite link and get $7 off your first order. https://www.thelevelup.com/c/EM-TS7BV2PMOA

Yelp
Had the harvest bowl at lunchtime. The restaurant was busy but efficient. I received my food in less the 10 mins and it was delicious!
