Where to Drink Crisp, Nuanced Hard Cider in and Around Portland

"Tucked into an industrial building in North Portland, this off-the-beaten-path cider taproom is only open on Fridays. Using a natural fermentation process, the cidery releases over 30 flavors each year, and visitors can get a glimpse of production right from the taproom’s seating areas. Cans of Swift’s ciders and hard seltzers, plus bottles of imported ciders, are available to-go from the taproom’s cooler." - Janey Wong

Portland’s Swift Cider Is Opening A Tasting Room and Restaurant - Eater Portland

"Swift’s flagship will have 24 taps, with 12 specifically dedicated to Swift ciders. Outside of cider, Currie plans to serve products made by Swift’s neighbors, like Happy Mountain Kombucha and Gron CBD drinking chocolate. Cannabidiol nerds will have more options than that, however; Swift also hopes to serve the occasional fermented experiments in its tasting room, including a CBD soda. Currie is particularly excited about the company’s single-varietal ciders, which guests can taste individually or build-their-own blend at the cider house’s blending bar. The restaurant is still very much in development, but Currie says the kitchen should be 100 percent gluten-free." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

After having too many ciders from all over, eventually they start blending in and taste the same. Not Swift! This is quite a special one - it is so easy to drink and it doesn't leave that "soury" aftertaste many ciders do. I could actually taste strawberries in the background (not overwhelming compared to those strong fruity flavors that many companies use), and the finish is clean and crisp. I'm not sure how long this company has been around, but I hope they will stick with the same quality for years to come. I'll plan to visit their cidery next time I'm in Portland. Cheers!

So happy to see this place open! The decor is charming and welcoming, the space is open with plenty of seating, and Aidan is kind and knowledgeable with his products. I tried several flavors and it was too hard to pick a favorite - the are all amazing! Cheers to the success of Swift in their new location. Looking forward to spending more time here in the future.

If you're looking for a large assortment of quality ciders, look no farther than Swift. Everybody there has a passion for cider and will absolutely talk your ear off about it if you let them. Expect there ciders to generally range from semi-dry to semi-sweet ( 1%-1.999% residual sugar) with a couple outliers I'm the dry (sub 1%) to or sweet ranges (over 2 %).

We really enjoyed some of the ciders. Wish the staff was more knowledgeable and interested in helping us find some to-go beer vs what was on draft. Overall felt like I was in a Portlandia episode with the entire vibe of the place and lack of enthusiasm for their product or customers. We did show up ~50min or so before they closed, but were just trying to try some drinks to take home not make a night of the place. We even tried to get a crowler or a growler and the staff was disinterested...

Google
Absolutely amazing cider! Best I've ever had! I literally had no idea I was a cider fan until I tried the marionberry cider. PLEASE check this place out. Absolutely amazing, they're going to start doing deliveries soon and I believe during the quarantine they are doing curbside pickup, so give them a call and support a quality local business that knows what the f*ck they are doing when it comes to cider.

Pretty cool spot! Outdoor tables, good tunes, good cider. Would definitely go back. It's down at the end of the street so be sure to look for the parking lot/yellow door/building at the end. It's a cool space.

Google
Best cider in Portland, and they offer a monthly membership box delivered to your door with small batch ciders you can’t get otherwise.

Interesting, crisp, and light tasting ciders. Only open once a month at the moment and was lucky enough to catch them on that day

Yelp
Excellent cider experience from this Portland based cidery. Steve and I shared their Hineycrisp flavored cider and really enjoyed it. The flavor profile is dry, not too sweet, crisp clean and tart. Along with an apple flavor of course they prepared this cider with fermented champagne yeast. The apples are relatively local as they come from Washington and Oregon. The most refreshing I saw with this cider was it's dry finish. Very enjoyable cider all the way around!

Yelp
Delicious ciders. I love that they are fruity and punchy for the most part, but it's also exciting that they do vintage apples too. This review is mostly about their cider club. I have actually never sat and had a cider. I treated myself to a club membership and it was really fun. Once a month, you get a half-rack of cider tallboys. If you are lucky enough to live within the delivery area, they will bring it to you! I am not, which is one of the reasons why I'm taking a break from my membership. It's a far drive. There's always a handful of their flagship, marionberry or honeycrisp. Then a bunch of rotating seasonals. Then there's something WEIRD, like Old Scrumpy, or hard kefir or seltzer. I'm not a fan, so they would happily swap it out for a different can. I love love love their juicy fruity ciders and I'll keep purchasing in grocery stores or when I'm in the neighborhood. Please put me in your delivery area!!

Yelp
Good cider. Not busy. Outside seating with heaters. In an interesting location. Feels industrial, but cozy. They have snacks, like chips. But no hot food. You can bring food and grab a drink. Dogs are allowed. If you want to go on a walk there is a nice park close by. The ciders are original and interesting. Lots of variety of flavors. They also have some Guest taps of hard seltzer, and kombucha. Lots of seating in a private and quiet open area.

Yelp
I adore SWIFT CIDER for a couple reasons. First, and what brought me here, is the Wednesday Night Trivia hosted by a couple who seriously brings it every week. Second, the Cider of course is fantastic and offers plenty of options even for your lame friends who aren't the cider stan that you may be. Swift Cider has a very inclusive feeling, from pride flags to something as simple as allowing minors. The friendly nature of Swift Cider is so comfortable and makes it an easy place for big groups to hang out and the kind staff are always attentive, constantly picking up glasses and delivering empanadas! Swift Cider is creating community in Portland in a way that makes it stand out compared to other Portland bars. It's one of the first places I recommend to folks looking for a good drink with easy parking :) TL;DR: Swift Cider does everything right. A lovely atmosphere that makes you forget you're basically hanging out in a warehouse!

Yelp
The have great ciders plus the staff is super friendly and quick to help! I will go back every time I get over to that side of town. I am glad they finally have a place to sit and drink their ciders on tap.

Yelp
We'll start with the good and end with the bad... The ciders were excellent. Lots of choices and they all were reasonably priced. The hosts were friendly and quick with the drinks. I'll definitely buy the ciders again and i look forward to seeing them in more stores around portland. I tried 6 different ones and they all were beautiful looking and delicious. The food selection was poor. I only saw empanadas, and although they were pretty good, that's the only hot food i saw available. A little variety would be nice. We went during bar trivia. We had fun but the announcer guy really creeped me out. He kept saying rude sexual comments, all aimed at men. I forget word for word what he said but one "joke" in particular stood out. It was something along the lines of "I'm going to have all the guys pull out their dicks so i can measure them and see which one is the biggest." I couldn't believe it! I remember thinking that if i had said something like that referring to woman's sexual organs i would have probably been kicked out and asked never to return. And he said it over the loud speaker! He said other rude sexual "jokes"too but i can't remember them as clearly as that one. This was 2 or 3 weeks ago on a Wednesday night. Up until that point in the night i was considering bringing my 12 year old as she would be a big help in pop culture trivia, but after that no way. She can handle a little bit of vulgarity but this guy took a swim in the gutter. I thought this place was classier than that. Oh and also he didn't know who Ed Sheeran was which was really annoying because it was the answer to a trivia question and the guys been popular for over a decade.

Yelp
100% stars. Yes to the cider, yes to the vibes, yes to the cider barista and live music! The best experience I've ever had. Would recommend. I'm especially interested in coming on trivia night, according to the other reviews it sounds dope.
