Note: This review is only for the Pastry Shop. At the end of my review, I'll give a brief review of the restaurant. On to the good stuff...
THE PASTRY SHOP
Now, seriously, I don't know how this place isn't putting every donut shop out of business. Don't get me wrong. I love me some sugary, melt-in-your-mouth donuts of all varieties (boutique and cheap). But when you compare them to these pastries...err, you really can't.
Not only are Swiss Pastry Shop's pastries soooo tasty, perfect texture, top notch quality, and generously sized, they are also less expensive than the cheap donuts found elsewhere! They could easily charge 3-4x as much as they do!
OUR THREE VISITS
This morning, I trekked in (it's 10 miles from my house) to get my family 2 large cinnamon rolls, 1 strawberry rhubarb Strudel, 1 apricot turnover, 1 huge sticky bun, and 1 cream cheese pocket (that's 6 pastries if you weren't counting) for the price of 5 cheap donuts! Despite this being my third visit in the last month, my mouth still dropped when the kind lady gave me the price. Give these people some good tips, folks! Support this business!
COMING BACK?
Heck yes!!! Despite the 15 minute drive and passing right by 4 donut shops and 3 bakeries/pastry shops on the way, we will keep coming back.
RECOMMENDED?
For the reasons stated above...if you're on your way to work or just need some of the best pastries around for your family or a group, try this amazing place. You may become a regular!
TO TRY
We've yet to try the Uncake (SPS's famous Black Forest Macaroon Cake), but it's on our short-list. I wanna taste what all the buzz is about. I hear the burgers are really great, too. We'll see...I'm very critical when it comes to burgers.
THE RESTAURANT
My son and I went for breakfast. The atmosphere is very basic...your typical cheap tables and chairs spaced out in a large room. Each of us had a 2-3 egg omelette (he had bacon, I had ham). They were very good. Nothing to write home about, but they were cooked perfectly and tasted great!
I also had a cappuccino. They use Avoca beans (good, not my favorite), but the milk was expectedly over-frothed, which is typical of a non-coffee shop. I'll probably get the drip coffee next time.
