It's been a minute but this spot remains one of the most reliable mid-priced elevated pub & grubs in the Tabor/Montavilla area.
Today, I had the fish & chips and she had crab cakes and a salad. She immediately remarked that the crab cakes were much more crab than cake and very fresh. The salad was big and gorgeous. My haddock was a full fillet, from tail to collar, half a good-sized fish, over 12" long and ranging over the corners of the plate by inches. The coating was super crispy and the fish absolutely fresh and flaky. No vinegar to mask off-notes required. I must say, this was a much larger portion than Horsebrass, better fish, and much less expensive. The fries... well, if you LIKE droopy home fries I guess, but these were just window dressing and unnecessary carbs to me.
I've had their burgers in past and rate them in my PDX top 10.
Pro Tips: If you can, park in one of the two parallel parking spots to avoid dings from tight side-by-side spots that are really a bad idea when beer is involved . Also, it's RIGHT on a bike parkway, at a nice dedicated crossing with lights so that's an awesome way to work off the calories before/after! Oh, and Portland's best apple fritters are right down Burnside a few blocks East, on the South side of the street, just before 60th at Donut Queen!
