As a gal who’s never actually tried a taco before, I know crazy, I had the pollo and chorizo tacos and let me tell you they have some spectacular chorizo. Cooked to perfection, amazing flavor, and good portion sizes. I’m not the biggest fan of the cream sauce on the pollo tacos but otherwise 10/10. Plus the mint limeade really hit the spot. Will definitely be coming back!

Google
Stopped in for lunch and got the 3 tacos 🌮 for $15. I had the mushroom, chicken, and braised beef tacos. My favorite was the braised beef! The strawberry limeade and salsa w/chips were solid as well. Next time, I'll try the queso.

Google
One of a kind family owned taco spot. The flavor is excellent across the menu and the vibe is relaxed and comfortable. It's a favorite place for sure!

Google
Let me just say that this place became one of my bf and I favorite go to place from the very first time we visited back in august! The food is just AMAZING! The place is beautiful and the staff is just beyond admirable!! My bf and I even got a chance to talk to the owner and he was just as amazing, we definitely let him know how much we loved and enjoyed our time here! If you’re looking to get some good food, stop by taco city!!! Soo sooo GOOD!

Google
I happened to be in the area and looking for somewhere to grab a quick bite to eat before catching a show at the Capital Turnaround, and I am SO glad I found Taco City 🌮!! Yum yum yummmmm… Everything was so incredibly delicious from the cocktails to the quesadillas and tacos!! They have a huge range of tequilas and mezcals to choose from, so if that’s your thing - you should definitely add these guys to your list!!! 10/10 would recommend!

Google
Nice taco place in Navy Yard with good tacos. I am a bit of a taco snob so I tend to be a little more of a critic than normal. I had the three taco lunch special with a side of guacamole. I tried the beef, chicken & Mexican cactus. I appreciated the chips & homemade salsa made with grilled tomatoes, tomatillo & green peppers; a really authentic & smokey finish & at no extra cost…hard to find these days. The service was friendly and a good neighborhood option. I’ll be back.mushroom quesadilla was awesome!

Google
I went to taco city today with some of my coworkers/friends and the food was AMAZING! I had the shrimp taco and the crab taco it was so bomb that i had to order another plate. I don’t remember the name of the drink cause someone else ordered it for me but it was good af ! i will be coming back again! and for all my IG/tiktok girlies, it has bomb lighting and a beautiful space for pics.

Google
Taco City in DC is worthy of more than five stars!! Their happy hour specials are great, and the cocktails are strong. I subbed rum for vodka in my mojito … delicioso and no extra charges!! My taco de cameron was amazing!!! The carne asada was noteworthy and the torta is enough for two!! Also I cannot stress enough….they hand make every tortilla!!! This visit they had pink tortillas to support the Barbie movie premier!! (Made pink with beet juice- puro natural.) And best service ever. If you are in the area this is a must stop for truly authentic Mexican food. Best I have had in the area thus far!!

Yelp
The service was warm and welcoming, and the food is fantastic. I especially love the shrimp tacos and strawberry mojitos! The price is really good for what you get

Yelp
Food was so good. So good. The servers were diligent and awesome. The restaurant is totally cute. All of those plants, neon lights and pictures. Screams a taco joint. Chicken quesadillas was one of the best. Their tacos were heavenly too. We'll be returning!

Yelp
Ugh. I just hate updating reviews to lower a previous five-star rating, but it's warranted. In the last few months, we've dined at Taco City and it's gone downhill. Here's why. 1) Wait time: Both times we walked into an almost empty restaurant and it took a very long time to be welcomed, water brought, food ordered, etc. Times are tough in the restaurant industry, but since we were the only ones there, it seemed odd. 2) Food: Literally everything we ordered was so bad from the tacos to the chips and salsa. The carne asada was very tough and half couldn't be eaten. It tasted like literally nothing so we had to heavy up on the soggy onions and avocado dip they brought with it. I want to love Taco City and will come back to give them another chance, but our previous two recent experiences make us hesitant.

Yelp
Portions are small and didn't have many things from the menu. Drinks were just ok. Service was good.

Yelp
I came in here for a quick-to-go lunch as I was working in the city. Since it was Tuesday, I decided on Tacos (Taco Tuesday). They have a 3-taco deal and I also got a Hibiscus drink, which was delicious. I got their shrimp taco, Al pastor taco, and mahi mahi taco. The shrimp and Al pastor tacos were delicious and flavorful; however the mahi mahi taco lacked flavor and the fish was tough and not flaky, which is what I expected. Service was great I was greeted when I came in and my order was taken right away. It took longer than I expected to get my food and drink. Honestly, I think the waitress forgot I ordered a drink because I had to remind her when my food was ready. The establishment is small inside; however, they do offer outside seating.

Yelp
Great place! Super cute environment and great staff. I went on a Saturday afternoon before 1pm and there weren't too many people here. Was seated immediately and given complimentary chips and salsa (which was super delicious!). We ordered and unfortunately had to wait about 35-40minutes before the 7 tacos and as on our table. Not a super big deal if you have time to sit and enjoy but we expected a quicker meal considering we were one of two tables in the place. Food was delicious but I do wish the tacos were warmer. Would come back another time when I have more time to sit and enjoy!

Yelp
Want tasty creative affordable tacos? This is the place, great selection of tacos, all seasoned nicely and well plated. Outdoor dining is available, service for take out and dine-in have been pleasant. Great service, professional and attentive. If you want grilled octopus, pork, beef or vegan.. they have the tacos for you! See for yourself - nicely plated tacos.

Yelp
The best tacos in DC. Wonderful happy hour. And a great place to bring a baby; such good service. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I had my first taste of Taco City DC via an Uber eats delivery. Disappointing enough that I wouldn't go out of my way to try it again. I ordered guacamole (for $15!!). It was marked vegan, but mentioned "queso" in the description. I put a note for no cheese (the life of the dairy free), but it came with cheese sprinkled all over! It was also kind of brown. (Side note: it doesn't mention it on the menu, but it comes with chips; don't order more chips like I did!) I also order the Taco City Salad with steak. Pros: the parts I could eat tasted good, and there's an added sweetness from the pickled onions. Cons: the salad was overly saturated in dressing (despite a note to put it on the side) and half the greens were wilted. Not appetizing. Uber eats made it right, but for anyone who has dietary restrictions or demands high quality food, I'd avoid delivery from here.

Yelp
Got caught in a rainstorm and discovered a hidden gem in Brookland! It is a very small place but such a cute and colorful ambience with very friendly staff. I was really impressed with the birria tacos I ordered here! All Tacos are made of corn and cost about $5 each but they also offer $5 sangria and delish cocktails. I'd definitely come back here again.

Yelp
I decided to come here for a quick lunch before an appointment. I saw the reviews on Google and assumed they were good. Boy, was I wrong.... The food: The service and ambiance were pretty decent, but the food was not. The salsa and chips were pretty okay and seem like it was made fresh. I unfortunately did not enjoy my birria tacos. They gave me very little consume (as you will see pictured), which was odd to me for three tacos. It was not enough at all. I wasn't a fan of the preparation of the tacos. They began to fall apart as soon as I picked them up so it lets me know they did not fry/sear the tacos. The cheese was also barely melted. They did not taste like typical birria tacos, no sign of authenticity, no radish, no lime, no cucumber. I only ate one & had the rest to-go. My friend ordered the trio tacos lunch special, and she seemed to enjoy her tacos. She did complain about the plates & utensils being dirty, so she did not eat out of them. I would highly suggest Taco City to improve the quality of their birrias, consume portion, & cleanliness.

Yelp
I dined at Taco City with coworkers for lunch. Taco City is an adorable sit down restaurant with fast service. The tacos are small and on corn tortillas. My group ordered three per person. I personally got the quesadilla and loved it. If you're in the area, Taco City is a great choice!

Yelp
It's often a struggle to find good tacos in DC so this place was definitely a pleasant surprise. I walked in around 5:30 PM on a Saturday for a quick bite and was quickly provided a menu and complimentary chips and salsa. I was surprised to be getting chips with the meal given that very few DC restaurants do and was happy that they were fresh and that the salsa was tasty. I ordered the al pastor and chorizo tacos and did not have to wait long before they came out to my table. The al pastor taco was very good and came with a large piece of pineapple, as well as a solid portion of well cooked and seasoned pork. The chorizo was tasty as well but I need chorizo was oily to the point where even the outside of the tortilla was dripping. The servers were very attentive, and the overall ambience is enjoyable as well. I was the only person in the restaurant beside one man at the bar when I came in, but the place quickly filled up by about 6 o'clock. When I'm in the mood for tacos, I know that this is a good option in the area.

Yelp
my partner and I got takeout from this place and we tried the chicken, steak, shrimp, and portobello mushroom tacos. The chicken was a tad dry for my taste but otherwise everything was delicious. The flavor profile of each taco is unique and equally delicious. My favorite was the shrimp which not only was flavored extraordinarily but was paired with the perfect sauce and additional toppings. My partners favorite was the portobello mushrooms staying that they were flavorful and very well cooked and unique for a taco option. I would definitely recommend this place for your next stay in DC or for those who live in the area

Yelp
Great service and good price. Friend had the octopus crab and shrimp. I had carnitas would recommend.

Yelp
Taco city is in an unassuming building, located in the Barracks Row area of Capitol Hill. It's barebones on the inside as well, with a couple of tables, booths, and seating at the bar area. I stumbled upon this place once and have been a regular ever since. Honestly, I've never had a bad meal here. The food is authentic, and they even serve Mexican soda. They also have a few alcoholic beverages to serve, but don't expect any fancy cocktails. All in all, this is a solid option if you happen to find yourself in the area with a craving for good, authentic Mexican food.

Yelp
Unique little spot in DC. The staff was very kind. Tacos were great, very flavorful. Price was reasonable for the location

Yelp
I went b/c a Washington Post food reviewer included this place on the Top 25 places to buy a taco last week. This is the 3rd place I've been to based on this reviewers write-ups. One of the 3 places was a total bust (really bad) but this place is a shining STAR (5). I'm already trying to figure out when to go back and what to order and it has only been a day. For DC, the drink prices are very reasonable, a bottle of Modelo for $5 is a decent price. A glass of red, food complementing Sangria had me ask for another. But the drinks are a mere distraction. It's the TACOS that will grab you, the flavors of whatever you order. My chicken Tinga had me wanting to lick up the juices that flowed over my hand. Then I ate my Chorizo tacos and wonder why their chorizo taste better than my home cooked batch. I like the smaller size of the tacos-less carbohydrates. The meat was piled onto this medium size taco, my preferred ratio of protein to carbs. The 2 of us were really saving space for Churros with chocolate sauce on the side. DELISH! There are a few tables outside on the sidewalk. There is a full bar and indoor tables and booths. There are a few parking spots out front. We managed to find free parking on a side street a about 1.5 blocks away. There is a paid parking garage nearby also according to Apple maps. We were there about noon-ish on a Sunday, so consider that when thinking about parking.

Yelp
I have no complaints about Taco City DC! It's a small spot, but everything was perfect! Good drinks, good food, good service. I came on a Sunday around 3:30pm and they had a happy hour going on. I tried the La Flaca and Taco City Marg! Both were delicious. The La Flaca was very refreshing. The tacos were amazing--I forgot the three different ones I tried. But the Brussels sprouts! Whew! They are a must to try when you come here. I was nervous about the cheese and pickled onions on them, but it made it soooo good. I'll def be back many times!

Yelp
Hidden gem in DC! I almost don't want to share and keep it my little secret! I have been going to Taco City for about 2 years and can't believe I waited this long to write a review! They are a cute little spot located in the Navy Barracks in SE. They have some of the best street tacos I have ever tasted! But the kicker for me is the amazing staff and service I have always received for dine in, take out and even through Uber eats. On my last visit I attended for happy hour and was able to meet the owner Juan. I had the pleasure of learning about the history of the restaurant as well as his family. He also educated me on a few of their wines and helped me make some great wine choices with my food. Looking for some authentic, homemade food and mazing drinks all served with amazing customer service? Check out Tcco City DC!!!

Zach M.

Yelp
Incredible carnitas and carne asada tacos! The other tacos are good but not quite as good as the two listed.
google avatar

Tessa G.

Yelp
This is a really fun little place. We went during happy hour. House margaritas were $7 and there were potato and chorizo empanadas for $4. Everything tasted great, we particularly loved the braised beef! Our waitress was sweet and brought out some fun glasses that made us smile.
google avatar

Linda J.

Yelp
Positive- Cute decor and pretty good margaritas. I have been a loyal fan of this hidden little place. But it's very apparent something or someone has changed. I was very disappointed in the quality of my food today. Thus explains the lack of customers.
google avatar

Yelp
Was visiting the cherry blossom festival and stopped by here. We had really good tacos. Both the meat and seafood options were delicious and flavorful. The shrimp taco I had was flavored well. And we really like the tres leches cake. Mmmmm... I highly recommend coming here.
google avatar

Pri R.

Yelp
Came in here for a quick take out taco run. There were many taco options on the menu + apps and other items. Ordered chicken tinga tacos and asked for added pineapple (they forgot to put it in), but honestly the flavor of the tacos were so good. The pickled onions really added to the flavor of it and there was a good amount of the chipotle sauce to chicken ratio. Tip: get extra lime on the side and squeeze it over. The pulled chicken on it's own was also good and it was in a nice marinade. Staff was nice and excited for us to try the tacos which I appreciated. Ambiance of the place itself is nice and cozy family restaurant vibes with a mini bar. Parking will likely have to be street parking. Would definitely come back to try other items.

Abby B.

Yelp
The staff was so nice and attentive- service was exceptional and very quick. I would definitely return, the tacos were amazing and same with the torta. Some of the best Mexican food I've had on the East Coast.
google avatar

Yelp
Tiny but potent. The place is two-thirds the size of a 7-Eleven, but the food packs a punch. Consisting of a few booths and tables + a bar it's a cute li'l spot. Outdoor seating available as well. The menu is authentic even if venue looks a bit whimsical and hipster. There was Honduran music playing over their speakers. Servers were El Salvadoran. Salsa and chips hit the table first - and water. The salsa has some exceptionally nice heat to it. Thin, with minimal chunkiness. The consistency of applesauce. Tiny "street" tacos on the menu. I had a grilled octopus taco followed by a lengua (beef tongue). The grilled octopus was charred and smokey deliciousness. My homegirl had a chorizo taco and one mahi mahi. Even though these tacos are tiny/single-shelled they pack a punch and are very flavorful and rich. We had a couple margaritas apiece too. She said tacos used to be $3 apiece and now they're like almost $5 apiece. Big jump. I was full and decently buzzed afterwards. So is my homegirl by now. Next thing you know she's in the middle of the floor trying to dance with the waitress as she sweeps and prepares for closing. Time to go Asia, lol and smdh....time to go. I've been here twice and I can see myself returning. Nice atmosphere. The vibe is cool. I'll be back.

Yelp
THE GAUCAMOLE IS TOOOOOOO DIE FOR!!! It is sooooooo good, I sometimes only order Guac and Chips!! The tacos are amazing as well!!!

Yelp
This cozy restaurant was full of surprises. The service was amazing with servers working seamlessly together to provide excellent service the entire meal. The portion sizes were great with each of us getting three tacos each, the shrimp, chorizo, & chicken. Each one was unique and delicious. The kids had Shirley Temples that were yummy. Also, the music selection had us nonstop dancing while we ate which was very enjoyable!
google avatar

Yelp
Eh, I wasn't too impressed with my tacos or margarita, but the service was excellent, and the prices are incredibly low!

Yelp
The best tacos I've had in DC. I love their outdoor seating during the warmer months. Don't skip out on the margs and churros. Also, excellent service and the even offer bug spray!

Yelp
Taco City did not disappoint. Delicious food, many choices, great prices, super service. I had the blue crab taco and if was amazing! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
We have driven past this place so many times and we finally decided to give it a shot and we will absolutely be back!! First, the shrimp quesadilla?! WOW. Finally a place that actually puts more than one shrimp and GOOD shrimp in the quesadilla. The cheese was so amazing! The only downside was all the tacos were put together instead of separating those with meat/fish compared to those without but we didn't specifically ask them not to. The tacos were yummy and it was ready very quick. Highly recommend this spot!!

Yelp
Love this place!!! Wish I could give more than 5 stars so this is as good as it gets! Very cozy neighborhood gem and it's family friendly! Had this place bookmarked for a few months now. I came on Taco Tuesday during happy hour and sat at the bar chatting it up with Juan. I can tell he's passionate about his business and providing excellent service and that he did! Kudos Juan and your entire staff : ) Happy hour here is Monday through Friday (4 - 7 p.m.) I love the authentic flavor of the tacos. It literally tasted like someone's grandma was back there cooking them! I enjoyed the beef and chicken tacos and on happy hour, they're $2.50 each. They're very filling. I wasn't even that hungry but devoured all of mine. Mouth is watering thinking about them as I type this review. The drinks are also really good and reasonably priced. I tried the sangria and mezcal margarita. Both were good! Parking didn't look too difficult but I didn't want to chance it since there was a game at Nats Park yesterday. I took a lyft over and metro'd back home (10 minute walk to the Navy Yard train station). I can't wait to come back! I hope this place is here to stay : )

Yelp
I've had Taco City when they came to my apartment lobby with samples, and I finally made it over today. Glad I did! Here's the long and short of it: -Authentic Mexican restaurant (they have Jarritos, which is one of my indicators that the food will be legit) -Tamal de pollo (chicken) con mole poblano: Quite lovely. -Chilorio de res taco: The meat was soooo tender! I was definitely pleased. -Tinga de pollo taco: I feel like lots of places have chicken tinga tacos, and sometimes they're just OK. Fortunately, I think this is one of the best I've had in the city! -Salsa: The salsa that comes with the chips is really nice! It is just slightly smoky and I could actually just take a tub of the salsa by itself. There is a nice vibe inside the restaurant (I only ran in to grab my takeout order because of the #pandemic), complete with great background music. I'll definitely look forward to returning here when I can dine in!

Yelp
I don't normally post reviews but this place has me feeling good trying to save others from spending their time and money there. When my wife and I went there, our server was all over the place. We had to flag her down to get multiple items such as salt and napkins. Why it wasn't included on the table, I'm unsure. After 20 minutes waiting on our appetizer, our chips and salsa was out. She did not come by to refill the chips and salsa like most places, but we had to flag her down again to replenish that. During this waiting period, I can remember 3 to 4 different families/groups come in. One family of 2, one family of 3, and two different groups of 6+. At this point we had ordered our appetizer, the Queso Fundido, which is essentially just a baked cheese pancake, 3 tacos, and a chicken quesadilla. Our appetizer arrived along with our chips and salsa, and we spent the next 15 minutes finishing it. It's a baked cheese block so it's not the easiest to cut up and eat to begin with. We finished it and waited another 15 minutes. Of course around 50 minutes into a dining experience, I personally was getting a bit testy not having my food. However, my wife urged me to persist. The thought of leaving didn't cross my mind, until one of the big groups, the family of two, and the family of 3, got their food before us when we were 20 minutes there before each of them. Keep in mind, we had 3 tacos and a quesadilla, not the most complicated order at a Mexican restaurant. From there I wanted to leave, but wife wanted to wait a few more minutes. Eventually we ended up leaving after the other big group of six got their food before us. I'm not against other people getting their food but they should have given us our food long before out of basic decency, good business practice, and due to our orders simplicity. I'm assuming they forgot to put the order in. The only comment we got regarding that was "the tacos will be out soon." Not an apology from our waitress, but just a quick passerby comment. So when everyone we watched come in, with much higher demand than our small order, get their food. We packed it up, paid for the fundido, and left. The woman I checked out with apologized, but it was a bit too late for that. Anyway, it was, in my recent memory, the worst dining experience of my life so far.

Yelp
Taco city was so darn good! I probably won't be able to step foot back into DC without stopping in for some of their authentic street tacos! I've had street tacos all over the US and I eat them often but these were hands down the absolute best! They were inexpensive and every bite was so darn savory with the perfect blend of good quality ingredients, fresh corn tortillas, and the sauces were picked out by a true genius of a chef! Every bite was full of flavor, juice, and they were sooooo darn good! I enjoyed the Chicken Tacos, the Pork Tacos, and last but definitely not least... the Brussel Sprout Tacos! I'm a big southern boy that likes my food so I don't order many meals without some sort of meat but those Brussel sprout tacos were to die for! Take my word and order at least one! Great service too! Thanks! Tip: Make sure you back into your parking space out front to avoid a ticket. I've never seen a spot you had to back into but luckily a local warned me before I headed in to eat and it was no issue. Enjoy! Yorlenys is the best bar tender! Thanks! She makes a great margarita!

Yelp
I came here for lunch today. It's right next to Las Placitas. It reminds me of a decent taco joint somewhere like Playa del Carmen. It was pretty brightly lit, clean and looked like it would have a great happy hour, but I don't know if they do. They did have a pretty large selection of tequila though. I'd say close to 75% of their liquor appeared to be tequila-ish. I did see a bottle of Angel's Envy, Bulleit (bourbon) though. Also Tito's, Grey Goose, Ketel One vodka a couple of liquors, but those I remember for sure. It also looked like they had Mahou on tap (a Spanish beer), but I may be wrong. We were served some warm tortilla chips and a red salsa, but not the big chunks of tomato and onion kind. More like a salsa roja. It was pretty good. Nothing too impressive and not overly spicy. The menu at Taco City DC is pretty simple, front and back of a single page. Gluten-Free items are marked GF. They offer some small plates, and 10 different types of tacos, and I chose to try my staples: Chorizo, Lengua and Pastor. My favorite was the Pastor taco. The chorizo was delicious and dripping with meat juice. That's not a bad thing, it's just close to the New Year, so I didn't feel like it was the "healthiest" choice I made today. No fault of TCDC. My Lengua taco was a little watery like it wasn't strained enough after cooking. No biggie tilting it got most of that out. My Pastor taco had a few pineapple pieces in it and I could barely get the tortilla around it. Nice! I wish they had a few things though. A hot sauce or salsa would have been good, but I didn't ask for them, so maybe they do have them. I'd definitely go back. I'd like to try the mushroom taco especially.

Yelp
I am always on the hunt for tacos in D.C. that remind me of the tacos in Los Angeles or even Mexico! I was so excited to check out Taco City DC. Came in and sat at the bar. There are at least two high-top tables, around 3-4 booths, and around two other tables. We were greeted and offered chips and salsa to start. The salsa was so good. They have a pretty good happy hour so we just ordered off of that menu. The tacos we tried: mushroom, brussels sprouts, braised beef, and pork. Our favorites were the brussels sprouts and braised beef tacos. We also tried the esquites, which is Mexican street corn with all the toppings. It was really good, but the portion was pretty small. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
We came here on a Friday evening for dinner. We came in right when they opened around 5pm. The lady was very friendly and welcoming. We ordered our drinks. She told us they didn't have their ABC license yet but no worries. I ordered a shrimp and a chicken taco. I also ordered an order of their Mexican corn. Hubby ordered an El Pastor taco, and a chorizo taco. Our little one had a cheese quesadilla. Our food was delicious! Hubby's chorizo taco was pleasantly spicy that left heat on his tongue. Our little one's quesadilla was perfect. My tacos were absolutely yummy! And my esquites (corn)?... OMG! My favorite on the menu! The owner came and talked with us. This establishment has only been opened a couple weeks or so. Great service and food!

Yelp
Great taco place with an unreal happy hour menu! I have done both dine in and take out now. All the tacos I have gotten have been great, although be warned that they are a little messy! But well worth it. My favorite to date is the braised beef taco - it it the perfect combo of savory and spicy, with a great jalapeño kick. For both dine in and take out, you also receive chips and salsa. While usually I stick to tacos at taco shops, I was tempted by the sides. So far I have tried the street corn, the guac, and the brussels sprouts. While Brussels sprouts may not be something you would think to order at a Mexican place, get them here! Perfect addition to the tacos. Last night I finally got to try the margaritas, and they were just as good as I had hoped. Coming from Texas, I have high standards for my margs. These were clearly authentic - not just the sugary garbage you get at a lot of places that serve inexpensive margs. When I first arrived (around 6:15 on a Tuesday) the place wasn't too crowded, but by the end of happy hour it was bustling. Do your self a favor and check this place out the next time you are craving tacos or margs. You won't regret it!

Yelp
The Washington Post got it right! Great taco Tuesday is here at Taco City DC! Nice chill ambience with authentic Mexican food. We ordered street corn not knowing how it would be presented...turns out they shuck their corn bc it's the Mexican tradition. Ask Quan, he filled us in on their culture. Great night, great food hands down!

Yelp
This was my first time stopping in and it was mostly decent. I say mostly because it was FREEZING in there. I ate my meal in my coat, scarf and hat. But the food I ate was really good. So why the 4 stars....let me tell you: - the 2 people working in there were extremely nice, and attentive (but not overbearing because that can be annoying too) - the Brussels sprout taco was DELICIOUS (surprisingly)! It was soo good! Would definitely get it again. Very creative. - my food came out fairly quickly - prices were reasonable - there were options for everyone in my group, vegetarian, pescatarian, meat eater and everyone enjoyed their meal - they have a skinny margarita!!! WHOOP WHOOP! I can enjoy a nice marg without all the sugar! - they give complimentary chips while you wait...and those were great as well. - they separated checks, at least for my group of 3. Appreciate ya! So you're probably like...why not give them the full 5 stars??? Glad you asked. Here's why: - it was so cold in there. Not sure if the heat wasn't on or the space isn't properly insulated...but while we navigate through the last part of winter...I'm gonna need this to be figured out. - the salsa they serve with the complimentary chips is not great. Like, it'll hold you over...but it wasn't great. Overall, a fairly decent experience...I'll definitely be back...just not in the winter!

Yelp
When you imagine a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant, this is it. I'll be honest: the outside is very very unassuming, and normally I wouldn't have bothered to check it out. But my friends are obsessed with this place and I had to know if the hype was real. First, the tacos. I love the fact that they have such a variety and that their offerings are fairly unique. From octopus to shrimp, chicken, steak, shredded Brussels sprouts, they have a taco for every craving. They also have brunch options (huevo rancheros, omelette, and such which are fairly large portions). My favorite taco was the shrimp taco. The sauce compliments the flavors well. The churros are not as sweet as you'd expect, but just enough that it hits the sweet spot. They also accommodate for food modifications for dietary restrictions which is great. Second, the drinks are refreshing and infused with flavor. The hibiscus margarita is particularly delicious. Third, the ambience. I loved how relaxed and chill the vibe is inside. There are booths, window seats, seats at the bar. And it's not overly loud, you can actually have a conversation at normal volume! It's great. Fourth parking, there is street parking but I suspect at busier times it would be difficult to find parking. Plus, with all the margaritas and mimosas you'll likely consume, you might just want to take an Uber ;) Overall - I highly recommend this for a chill easy and quick meal that is delicious.

Yelp
Taco City DC is a wonderful and welcome addition to the neighborhood. Everyone working in the restaurant was friendly and they go out of their way to make sure you have an enjoyable experience. Each item we ordered was fantastic and not just the tacos. Definitely give the enchiladas a try, delicious! The space is somewhat small, so if you plan on going during a peak time you may have a little bit of a wait. However, there is a bar to grab a margarita in the interim. Definitely check this place out if you are craving some Mexican food.

Yelp
Hands down some of the best tacos in DC! I'm from California and my standards are a tiny bit high, do yourself a favor and come in for a bite. Handmade tortillas that don't disintegrate in your hands, slow cooked carnitas that melt in your mouth. The chips and salsa tasted fresh. The service was quick, kind, and amenable to any questions that came up. Also, a great spot for a quick bite before heading to Capital Turnaround for a show.
