I love downtown Mesa, and for some reason every time I'm down there I forget to check out this little spot! My daughter and my niece have been raving about this place for some time, so I finally checked it out for myself. Like many of the other businesses in downtown Mesa, this place is small, long and narrow with most of the inside taken up with a big bar. There is a little salsa station and water station toward the back. The big garage door opens up to provide a lot more seating when the weather permits.
There is a huge TV behind the bar to catch your favorite sporting event.
The menu is pretty simple: tacos, Burros, and a few salads. They also have a nice variety of delicious margaritas.
My daughter and I had the veggie tacos, chicken, tacos, a quesadilla, a mango margarita, and a spicy cucumber margarita. We finished it off with a Berry très Leche carrot cake.
Everything we ordered was delicious. The homemade tortillas are amazing. And my mango margarita, although, on the smaller side, was one of the best mango margaritas I have ever had. It was rimmed with a sweet and spicy Rimmer, and a beautiful, dry blood orange for a garnish.
Although we were there on a random Thursday evening around seven, the place stayed busy and only slow down closer to closing time. I was very happy to see that!
There are lots of places you should eat in downtown Mesa to support local, but I would definitely add tacChiwas to the list of must try!
