"Tacos Padre is a chic green and white-tiled Mexican taco stall in Borough Market. But there’s nothing chic about how we eat one of their battered fish tacos after a few punchy, frozen margaritas. This is a pit stop kind of place without any seating—but the tacos are perfectly sized so you can juggle a couple and eat them in a few bites as you avoid the market stampede. Fillings—like the rich, fall-apart beef suadero with fresh shaved cabbage—are generous and tasty, but a little forgettable. Still, grabbing a couple of tacos on a sunny day is a good way to satisfy a craving for chewy corn tortillas and rich, slow-cooked meat, before moving on to the market's other stalls." - Sinéad Cranna
"Nicholas Fitzgerald’s stand in Borough Market’s buzzing new kitchen has offered some interesting specials since opening — a rich, lime-tinged pozole; a huitlacoche quesadilla. The tortillas, fillings, and salsas cover bases with aplomb, carne asada a strong suit set off by atypically grilled shallots, and a meticulously prepared salsa macha." - Adam Coghlan, James Hansen
"Tacos are fun for the whole family. Especially if you’ve already taught the kids how to make a margarita for you. Kidding, we’re totally kidding. Kind of. Anyway, Borough Market spot, Tacos Padre are delivering everything from beef short-rib to lamb barbacoa to go inside their fresh corn tortillas. Their DIY kits give you complete autonomy over your toppings so you can go heavy on the habanero guacachile salsa and pickled onions, whilst your mini me gets all excited about squeezing fresh lime over their pork cochinita. Perfect." - heidi lauth beasley
"Vegetarian option available There’s a big difference between having the time to slow-cook lamb for nine hours and wanting to slow-cook some lamb for nine hours. Enter Tacos Padre, a great little taqueria in Borough Market that has a little online shop full of Big Taco Energy. We’re talking fresh corn tortillas, extra spicy habanero guacachile salsa, picante, beef short-rib suadero, and of course, slow-cooked lamb barbacoa. Their DIY kits start at £27, but we’d highly recommend getting involved in a pouch of their homemade margarita too." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing
"Ex-Pujol chef-owner Nick Fitzgerald’s Tacos Padre reopens from midday on 8 January and will be open for business from Thursday-Saturday. Serving an array of mouthwatering tacos and totopos with salsa for takeaway. New lockdown regulations means that customers must eat their food orders off-site. Currently, the taqueria isn’t selling alcoholic beverages in-person for now, but there’s a bigger menu available for delivery on Big Night including taco packs for two people on weekends." - Angela Hui
