Spit-roasted al pastor tacos, mulitas, burritos, late night

"When I'm Westside-ish and a little hungry for something quick and satisfying, I often stop by Tacos Tamix, one of LA’s best al pastor purveyors operating a truck right off the 405 at the crossroads of Clarkdale, Mar Vista, and Palms. I usually opt for the al pastor shaved off the trompo into waiting tortillas with an expert swipe of a knife; the essential slice of pineapple on top carries some of the savory smoke from the meat along with the sweetness of warm fruit. The tortillas are no-frills but do the job of holding everything together and not getting too damp once salsa is added. The only downside is that taco shrinkage still seems real, so I often add an extra taco just in case." - Eater Staff
"Tacos Tamix is a chain of taco trucks that park in several locations around the city, the westernmost of which is located right where the 405 meets Venice Blvd. The main attraction here is the bright red trompo of al pastor, which is shaved off in generous portions onto palm-sized tortillas that make for a great meat-to-masa ratio. Aside from the solid al pastor tacos, try the crispy alambre with cheese and bacon and plate-sized gringas with ham and pineapple that taste eerily similar to a Hawaiian pizza. Tamix is also open until at least 1am nightly, making it a clutch option for a late-night taco run. " - sylvio martins, jess basser sanders, brant cox, arden shore

"I’d order tacos al pastor at Tamix’s Westside outpost—adobo-marinated pork cooked on a trompo, topped with a slice of pineapple for sweetness—and be sure to dress each taco with the various salsas, onions, and cilantro (or pico de gallo) because tacos should never be naked." - Matthew Kang

"Eating al pastor in front of the gas station stool setup is exactly how it should be done here: the al pastor is near-neon reddish from its marinade and sliced thin over fresh-griddled corn tortillas, crowned with a hunk of pineapple cut from the spit and accompanied by salsas, pico de gallo, and radishes; for sharing, the pastor alambre — a behemoth of pastor meat, bacon, blistered peppers, and molten cheese — is ideal to scoop up with hot corn tortillas." - Eater Staff
"The main attraction at Tacos Tamix, a taco truck chain with four locations dotted around central LA, is the bright red trompo of al pastor. The abode-rubbed pork is shaved off in generous portions onto palm-sized tortillas that result in a great meat-to-masa ratio. Aside from the solid al pastor tacos, try the crispy alambre with cheese and bacon and plate-sized gringas with ham and pineapple that taste eerily similar to a Hawaiian pizza.
