The Best Matcha Lattes In San Francisco - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Both locations of Tadaima are worth a detour for their standout matcha lattes. The cafes in Cow Hollow and the Mission serve ultra-creamy versions with lingering earthiness, plus mix-ins like salted cheese, black sesame, or strawberry cream. If your caffeine tolerance is beyond mortal comprehension, opt for the dirty matcha with coffee." - julia chen 1, patrick wong

San Francisco’s New Restaurant Openings - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"The second location of Tadaima is in Cow Hollow (the original is in the Mission) and also serves matcha, onigiri, and Japanese sandwiches. Fillings include chicken karaage, tonkatsu with pineapple, egg salad, and strawberries and cream." - julia chen 1, patrick wong

Best Delivery Restaurants in San Francisco | Eater SF

"One of the city’s buzziest Japanese sando shops delivers — a smart move given how long the lines can get at the Mission District outpost. The price is not too high, delivery costs reasonable. Be careful to order wisely so the bread isn’t compromised by the time your meal arrives. Try the mushroom onigiri." - Dianne de Guzman

San Francisco’s Hottest New Restaurants, January 2025

"Japanese sandos are the main characters at the new Tadaima in the Mission. Think bacon, Spam, and egg musubi or sweet options such as strawberries and cream sandos on milk bread. Pair that with an iced drink, such as a hojicha latte with a salted cheese cream top, and you’ve got pitch-perfect picnic food for nearby Dolores Park." - Dianne de Guzman

Tadaima - Review - Mission - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"We feel as conflicted about Tadaima as we do when we debate taking Muni or calling an Uber. On one hand, this small Japanese cafe in the Mission serves some of our favorite hojicha and matcha lattes. They’re rich and not too sweet. The fruit sandwiches, like the one stuffed with strawberries and cream, are also great with pillowy bread and fruit so fresh that it tastes like it must have had its own wellness routine. The savory sandwiches, though, could use some work. The chicken karaage is solid, but tough, the shrimp tempura is dry and difficult to eat, and the egg salad? Drowned in so much mayo that we couldn’t finish it. We’d stick with the drinks and fruit-based sandos at Tadaima. For similarly priced fried meat sandos, we suggest walking a few blocks to Stonemill Matcha instead. Food Rundown photo credit: Ricky Rodriguez Strawberries and Cream Sando If you’re going to get anything here, make it this. The cream is light and fluffy and paired with plump fresh strawberries. It’s a delicious Dolores Park snack that won’t weigh you down in between frisbee tosses and dog wrangling. photo credit: Ricky Rodriguez Chicken Filet Karaage Sando The best of the savory sandwiches, and the only one we would consider getting again. It’s fine, but it is dry. With Stonemill Matcha nearby, we suggest going there if you’re looking for a juicy piece of fried chicken in between two slices of milk bread. photo credit: Ricky Rodriguez Onigiri Go for the miso soft snow crab and the yuzu salmon. You won’t be wowed, but they’re better than the other three flavors. Two per order." - Ricky Rodriguez

Google
was really excited to visit this place, and honestly, it did not disappoint. The strawberry matcha chai I had was super delicious. I also had something to eat, the food was really nice too. The service is lovely and the place is small but cozy. This was my first experience here, and the matcha was genuinely great, I really enjoyed it. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Google
The matcha latte is WAY better than Stonemill. It leans bitter (not in a bad way) and is a little grainy but it’s serviceable. I still preferred Kiss of Matcha, although I truly have yet to find a matcha latte that I find acceptable in the Bay Area. I would slot this in between a “pass” and “would get again” — solidly in the “would drink if someone else bought for me” category. They skimped because I didn’t get a cream top; I would probably say a 3/5. HOWEVER, the chicken filet karaage sandwich was ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL! Life changing! Spectacular! The bread and chicken are tender; the breading, lettuce, and tempura batter all give a heavenly crisp; and the sandwich does not fall apart at all, which is extremely impressive given I always end up with food over myself. Also flattened scallions in a sandwich are genius. I’d probably get this with light sauce again. Order online and bring it to Mission Dolores! What a lovely ambiance.

I went to Tadaima to try their matcha, this was my first trip to San Francisco and i’m so glad I went here! The shop itself is so cute, the vibes are great and it feels welcoming. The workers are all so sweet and kind and seem very hardworking! I tried the matcha with salted cheese foam and omg it was so good! The matcha is smooth and creamy, not too sweet and not too bitter it’s just right, the cheese cream was super good and a nice taste with the matcha flavor. I could go on and on about the matcha lmao it was so good and decently priced in my opinion, def worth the price for sure. I also tried the strawberry sando and omg idk what strawberries they use but they are the best 😩, the sweetest tangiest strawberries every with a nice whipped cream that was perfectly sweet sandwiched in between the softest yummiest bread ever. I will say tho it is pretty sweet so if you’re not the biggest fan of sweets I would get something else or share with someone! But as someone who loves sweets I thought it was perfect! If anyone actually read all this ur awesome, go try the treats here it’s worth it !! <3

Google
I find that the best way to go about this place is to order ahead via their website, take your bag to Dolores park, sit and enjoy! As for the food - this place is pretty pricy, but the sandwiches are generous, unique, and I thought they're worth it since it's not the usual sando as you would get in Japan. I personally really liked the twist of pineapple in the sandwich, I felt it added a much needed moist. The musubi was also good, but not as unique. Would come again!

Google
Tadaima is an aesthetic all-green store front with a zen ambience. It's captured major social media attention, leading to long lines since their opening but... it's not really worth the hype. After trying the shrimp tempura, tonkatsu and pineapple, egg salad and karaage sandos, my friends and I came to the conclusion that everything needed more salt. While the bread was soft and ingredients seemingly fresh, the sandos were all lacking in flavor. At $16 a sando, I wouldn't recommend it. I also wasn't a fan of the drinks, but I think there's room for improvement. The strawberry matcha foam tastes a little too artificial for my liking and the hot matcha latte was not whisked well. I appreciate how strong the matcha was but each sip was grainy.

Google
Definitely the best match in the city. Smooth but not overpowering and not too sweet either. The goodies are so yummy too. The service is very nice and efficient. They let my dog stand in line with me and then wait for my order outside. Greatly appreciated as it is located on a busy intersection.

Google
Enjoyed a stunning strawberry sando. Regardless of the price/hype, I thought it was delicious. The bread was pillowy, the strawberries were juicy and the cream was perfectly set and mellow.

Google
Cute shop that is OVERFLOWING with people waiting to order a matcha latte or their fruit sandwich. Both of which were fantastic. As far as rice balls go, nothing crazy but they get the job done.

Yelp
Easily part of my fantastic sf matcha roster. Such creamy matcha. If you're a strawberry matcha person you must try here. The strawberry cream is delightful and so are the dried berries they put on top. Their pineapple katsu Sando situation is bomb and so are their fruit sandos. I also usually get the chicken curry onigiri as a satisfying snack.

Yelp
Tried their (1) matcha latte with strawberry foam, (2) spam and egg musubi, (3) beef onigiri, and (4) salmon onigiri My fave was the matcha, OMG. So delicious, creamy, and not too sweet. Loved it. I also really liked the salmon onigiri but I felt both onigiris could have used more salmon/beef filling. They were mainly rice which would have been okay except it was over $9 for just two pieces. The musubi was okay, tasted good but nothing out of the ordinary or unique. A bit too much rice. I'd come back to try their sandwiches for sure!

Yelp
I came in on a Friday in the morning time, a little after opening. Upon going in, the shop itself is pretty small with about two tables for seating. However, they provide tables outside for seating as well. The cashier was fast and nice. No complaints about the service. The drinks took a little bit to come out, but it's nice to know that they put thought into making their beverages. The food itself is pretty good! I really enjoyed the chicken sando. It was juicy, but still crispy and the honey mustard they add along with the crunchy cabbage was delicious! Overall, I would highly recommend the sando! As for the matcha, I am pretty particular about my matchas. The strawberry cream was SO DELICIOUS. It tasted just like strawberry ice cream & that's my favorite. The matcha itself was okay, a bit gritty and not as smooth as I was hoping, but nice and strong still. I would definitely come back here & grab a bite and drink for a picnic nearby

Yelp
Get the chicken katsu sando!! You won't regret it. It's juicy, crispy and mustardy. The bread is fluffy and the chicken the thick making for a delicious bite. There's shredded iceberg lettuce so the sandwich gives elevated Mc chicken but in the best way possible. We tried the seasonal pineapple and pork katsu sando which was also solid but not as juicy as the chicken. The pineapple was cold which kinda made the sando have a hot and cold aspect. The strawberry cream matcha latte wasn't as matcha-y as I would have liked it to be. While delicious it reminded me of strawberry ice cream. Definitely rich and creamy. The dirty matcha also lacked that matcha punch but still was pretty solid. If you want to pick up you can order on DoorDash and pick up in store. We came on a Sunday afternoon and the line went pretty fast so don't be off out if you see a line!

Yelp
Line moves really fast. Small space inside with 2 tables seating 2 and a window with 2 more seats (6 seats total). Chicken filet karaage ($16) - Super juicy chicken thigh with really mayo and mustard. the chicken thigh was still crispy even with all the sauce Tonkatsu w/ pineapple ($17) - less fatty than the chicken filet. not sure if i really liked the pineapple w/ it but still tasty Matcha w/ strawberry cream ($7.50) Matcha w/ salted cheese cream ($7.25) The bread was really soft and sweet and held up the sandwich well.

Yelp
I came on a Saturday around 2PM. The line was out the door and I waited around 15 minutes for my order to be taken and another 15 for my order to be ready. I got the strawberry sando and the matcha latte with strawberry and cream. The quality of the matcha is something you can taste, and the drink itself was thick and balanced. Next time I would definitely get the regular matcha latte so I can have a better feel for the taste of the matcha itself without the strawberry flavoring in it. The sando had generous amounts of strawberry in it and did not disappoint, although it is a bit pricey given that for a couple extra dollars, I could be getting a katsu sando. There is minimal seating inside and it gets really crowded especially if the store is busy, and about 2 tables outside, so definitely not an ideal place to work/study/settle down. It's definitely more on the pricier side, but I guess average for SF now. Overall, super cute place with quality matcha but next time I would try to go during a less busy time on the weekday and stick with getting their matcha and a savory sando.

Yelp
Another sando shop in sf!! I was craving hojicha and found this spot. The drinks were ok. The hojicha was pretty sweet even tho I got less sweet. But I liked both the sandos we got. The chicken karage one had a really yummy mayo based sauce that is reminiscent of the same sauce I used to get at Sushi Hanami in Calgary whenever I ordered chicken katsu. They gave a pretty thicc slice of chicken cutlet. They also kept the skin on when they breaded then fried it so there's a layer of chewiness which was interesting. The pineapple katsu sando was also pretty tasty. The katsu was pretty tender and the sauce was the classic brown katsu sauce that I love. My only complaint was that the cut of meat they used was very fatty and I definitely had some bites where it was all fat no meat. I wish the meat quality was slightly better. The pineapple was a nice addition tho. It added a citrus tangy flavour that cut through the fatties of the pork.

Yelp
It's my day off and I've been wanting to go to this place for a while so here I am. I ordered the Tonkatsu w/Pineapple Sando and the Strawberry and Cream Sando. The tonkatsu was crispy and the pineapple added a different dimension of flavor. The strawberry and cream Sando was really creamy and I liked how it wasn't overly sweetened. Overall, the portion sizes for the Sando were respectable. The price was also reasonable. I also got an iced matcha latte which was pretty solid. When I came here, the line was so long. It took 15 minutes until I got to the front and about 5 minutes for my order to come out. Which honestly wasn't bad. I really appreciate how hard their staff works. The place seemed pretty busy and action packed, but they handled it very well. Much respect to them. The restaurant is cute and very small. There's very limited seating inside with a few tables outside though. I opted to eat in my car considering how crowded it was. Try it out if you like. :)

Yelp
Small restaurant with 6 seats inside, 6 seats outside. Very fast service and even though there was a line, it went by quickly. Food was ready almost as soon as I sat down. Minimalist but warm place. No bathroom. We were lucky to find parking right outside at 11:30AM. Chicken filet karaage sando ($16) - yummm! juicy, flavorful, saucy. Bread was nice and soft. Onigiri (Min 2 but can mix flavors) - I got the Chicken curry ($4.50) and Miso snow crab ($6). Wasn't a fan. Unagi, avocado, spam, and egg musubi ($8.50) - hard to mess up spam and egg. But jeez so much rice. Matcha latte with almond milk ($7.25) - creamy and high quality matcha taste. delicious!

Yelp
This place is definitely worth the hype! Staff was incredibly welcoming and kind and made sure to answer any questions we had about the menu. Drinks were absolutely incredible and food was just as good! Parking is a bit tough tho so just be prepared for that! Strawberry cream matcha latte: 9.5/10 - amazing and STRONG matcha flavor, not bitter and the strawberry cream was delicious and a unique spin on the classic strawberry matcha latte Chicken filet karage sando: 9/10 - juicy, tender, and flavorful chicken that paired perfectly with cabbage & mustard spread served on the fluffiest bread Strawberry & cream sando: 8/10 - fresh strawberries and cream, this would be a 9/10 if the bread wasn't so cold and was fluffier! Snow crab onigiri: 9/10 - fresh crab, loved the hints of lemon from the lemon zest and the rice was seasoned really well too!
google avatar

Yelp
Food: - Matcha Latte with Strawberry Cream: A bit pricey but very tasty! Loveeee the strawberry top on this in particular. - Pineapple Katsu sandwich: I've never thought to add pineapple to a Katsu sandwich, but it worked pretty well together! The sweetness and acidity of the pineapple complements the rich, savory pork cutlet. The cutlet is served cold, which is disappointing (esp given it was $19)--if it were freshly fried, the sandwich would be amazing. Instead, it feels a bit handicapped. A fun, new addition to the Mission and SF which only has a handful of katsu sando spots. The space is cozy with limited seating (window and a table), and while there's often a line, my food came faster than expected. The service was good too.

Yelp
Wow. I'm honestly pretty obsessed with the items from Tadaima. This place offers sandos, onigiris, and drinks that are made with quality ingredients and masterfully put together for balances and deep flavors. We came on a Saturday for lunch and there was a little line out the door. The store is pretty small so the line went by pretty quick. We ordered a miso snow grab onigiri, yuzu salmon onigri, tonkatsu pineapple sando, matcha with strawberry cream, and Kinako latte. The onigiris I was expecting to be overpriced but honestly they give a lot of meat and the ratio to rice is perfect. The rice has sesame seed and other seasonings mixed into it so it's more exciting. My favorite onigiri was the yuzu salmon because it had the perfect flavor and was so addicting. The tonkatsu sando was a huge surprise for me. Mostly because I personally don't like sandwiches but HOLY SMOKES the bite of the katsu was so juicy and crispy but what took it home was the pineapple. The pineapple added so much to the bite that it made me want to keep biting more. The katsu sauce was tangy and not your ordinary katsu sauce. Honestly so well balanced and a great spin on something that could have been super decadent. The strawberry cream matcha was not my favorite since the strawberry tasted sorta artificial. I would have to try their regular matcha for more of a comparison. I LOVED the Kinako latte though I've only been able to find it one other place (paragon in Vancouver) the flavor is super earthy with a little bit of salt it's so addicting. Such a unique sip that you'll have to try it yourself and see if it's something you like. I definitely recommend hot for that one. There's no bathroom and parking is super hard so prepare to fight for street parking. The prices are pretty expensive but it's San Francisco so what do you expect. Worth it every once in a while as a treat. There is seating but it's pretty squishy so I would suggest taking it togo and eating it at a park for a more enjoyable experience. Overall I would totally come back for their drinks often but their food every once in a while.
google avatar

Michelle H.

Yelp
The matcha and hojicha lattes were to die for! Salted cheese was a nice addition to the roasted flavor of the hojicha latte. I also got two onigiri but they tasted pretty standard, wouldn't highly recommend and it was pricey. Minimum order is two.
google avatar

Sofia K.

Yelp
Matcha here is pretty good! Good balance of sweet vs creamy, and still has a nice nutty aftertaste. I wasn't as pleased with the location itself, as there's only two small tables outside for seating. This was my own oversight, as I wanted to stay and enjoy my drink at the location. It was a foggy and rainy day so I just had to take this to-go and find another spot to sit. I also had the katsu sandwich-- not my fave and in my opinion a little overpriced at over $14+! The onigiris looked really good and I think I'd opt for this next time. Service is super friendly, I didn't know what I wanted and they helped me to not feel rushed and gave me suggestions. I think I'd come back again with an alternate plan to enjoy the drink while walking-- and definitely order a musubi or onigiri to try!
google avatar

Joseph L.

Yelp
Went on a Sunday, there's a big line but the staff kept things moving so the wait wasn't too bad. Service was quick and the folks working there were courteous and very nice. I ordered a few things: Karage Sando, egg and potato salad sando, curry chicken and yuzu salmon onigiris. Matcha latte with strawberry cream and a hojicha latte. Total came out to be around $60 give or take. A bit pricey but the food and drinks were good. I recommend the karage sando for sure. If you haven't been, it's worth checking out. Wish there was more seating though.
google avatar

Jodie S.

Yelp
Their matcha was absolutely delicious. It was a great balance of matcha flavor, sweetness, and creaminess. The strawberry cream has a unique flavor different than all the previous strawberry matches I've had before. The tonkatsu Sando with pineapple was $17. The cabbage was cold and the tonkatsu was warm with the pineapple in between feeling lukewarm. The pineapple was very sweet and stood out in flavor, kinda masking the tonkatsu flavor. Would recommend for those obsessed with pineapple. The store itself only has two tables for a total of ~4 people. They have about 3 tables outside the store. The area felt relatively safe but parking might be difficult depending on the day and time of day.

Yelp
So excited to finally try this new matcha + japanese sando spot. I've heard mixed reviews, but I honestly really liked everything we got. Tonkatsu with pineapple sando: a surprising flavor combination that worked! The meat was juicy and the sauce & slaw were flavorful. Bread was nicely fluffy and had a classic milk bread flavor. Mixed fruit sando: the fruit was super sweet and the cream was thicker than expected, but it was still refreshing and light. Strawberry matcha: the matcha was pretty strong and tasted high quality; strawberry flavor was subtle and it had a light crunch from the topping. It was a little too sweet but I liked it. Very creamy and not watered down at all. Inside had a few tables but it was pretty cramped. Our food & drinks came out super quickly and there was no line at 2pm on a Sunday! Would come back to try other items on the menu.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon, and wow--it was packed! The shop is quite small with limited indoor seating, and the line quickly stretched out the door. Many people were waiting outside for their orders, which added to the busyness of the store. I ordered the chicken filet karaage sando, tonkatsu with pineapple sando, and the red bean, mochi, and matcha cream sando, along with an iced matcha latte with salted cheese cream (less sugar and ice). The drink came out surprisingly fast, and it was fantastic! The matcha flavor was bold and perfectly balanced, not overpowered or diluted by the salted cheese cream. Highly recommend getting this drink with less sugar for the ideal flavor. The sandwiches, however, took an additional 15 minutes to come out--and they were just okay. Both the savory and sweet sandos were super thick, which made them difficult to bite into even after trying to compress them. The savory options (chicken filet karaage and tonkatsu with pineapple) were decent but nothing memorable, while the red bean and matcha cream sando was a complete miss for me. I've had better versions of this dessert elsewhere, and the flavors didn't quite hit the mark here. I'd definitely come back for their matcha lattes and drinks--they're clearly the highlight of the menu. As for the food, I'd skip the sandos next time and maybe try their onigiri or musubi instead.

Yelp
Tik Tok influenced us. Another place we visited while D1 was on break. We easily found street parking on a Saturday. The line moved fast, we just had to wait for our food and drinks. The food came out faster than the drinks. She opted for the tonkatsu pineapple sando and I had the egg potato salad sando. The bread was super soft. But half a sandwich is plenty to eat so we each had a half to bring home. She didn't like the pineapple in her sando. She said it was too overpowering. Maybe if the pineapple was sliced thinner she would have liked it more. I liked my egg sando and the soft egg in the middle. I especially liked the crunchy onions on top. The strawberry matcha latte may be the best I've had to date. You can really taste the premium matcha and I love the house made strawberry cream. Will definitely go again for the drink. The space is very small. 3 tables inside with 2 chairs each. 2 window seats, and 3 tables outside.

Yelp
New year, with a great new way to enjoy matcha, in Tadaima. I should've check-in during that time, but I was so eager and crazy about getting what to eat and drink here. Wooden exterior shared well with the sushi bar at its right hand side; white airy interior with both dark green sides that looked like matcha. Customer service turned out to be a crisp, pleasant smile. First purchase from Tadaima: unsweetened iced matcha latte with oat milk and the matcha red bean sando. This fluffy, airy milk bread known as shokupan was easy to eat compared to the American bread which has the light brownish outer layer. I wanted my daughter to try, but she backed away from it seeing that the sweet matcha icing looked like wasabi. No pair of sando would ever have a rich amount of wasabi, right? Anyway, both the matcha latte and the matcha sando were of outstanding quality for my consumption. I have yet to come back to Tadaima for a next pair of savory sandos compared to sweet ones. I like sandos my way, so might share one with my friend one day.
google avatar

Celina N.

Yelp
Finally got to try out their matcha and sandos. We got the matcha latte w/ salted cheese foam and the dirty matcha cream latte. Their matcha tastes very similar to maruwu seicha, so if you like maruwu seicha you'll definitely like their matcha. As for the sandos, we ordered the chicken karage sando and the matcha+red bean+mochi sando. They were both good, but a bit overpriced.
google avatar

Jasmine T.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this spot and it did not disappoint. I loved everything except the long lines. They're actually quite fast getting sandos out, the backlog is on the drinks. We ordered the egg potato sando, pineapple tonkatsu sando, & black sesame latte. The egg potato sando is the best egg sando I've had in the bay. It's so creamy & they don't skimp on the filling. The black sesame was also perfect. It's milky & not chalky. It's really smooth & refined. There's like 2 seats inside and 3-4 tables outside. Parking: is a major pain. It's all metered street or residential parking. Literally took us 25 min to find a spot.
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
Have been looking forward to trying Tadaima for a while and finally stopped by. I only got the matcha latte and it was alright! It's a quite a bit sweeter than other matcha I've tried in the city, so I'd recommend asking for less sweetener. Other than that, it's not a bad choice for a matcha in the area, but I wouldn't make a trip to the mission just for it.
google avatar

Kendra H.

Yelp
Solid matcha spot in the city! It's small inside and seating is hard to come by since this place always seems to be busy. We got the strawberry matcha and the regular matcha latte, both less sweet. It was the perfect balance of sweetness and creaminess. They don't whisk the matcha but that's expected given the demand of how many drinks they make per hour. I prefer this matcha over coffee shop matchas (like motoring coffee, for example) because their matcha gram to milk ratio is better!
google avatar

Ajay K.

Yelp
The matcha looked promising given the vibrant green color and not the usual pale fading colors of watered-down matcha. However it was not quite up to the mark and I feel there are other places in SF like Komeya and Kiss of Matcha which use higher quality powder. We also got the onigiri which was small for its price and was mostly filled with rice and had very little chicken inside. Probably will skip this place in favor of the aforementioned matcha places which also have better parking and general safety.
google avatar

K G.

Yelp
So good, serving sizes were good and the matcha was amazing. The line takes forever and the store is super duper packed, but it's quicker than you would think. There's no bathroom, which kinda sucks.
google avatar

Tatí A.

Yelp
I came here at around 2pm I didn't get my food until 2:51 the line is sooo long & it moved soo slow. There is very little seating but you can always take your food or drinks to Delores park. The musubis were pretty good just a little expensive. The strawberry matcha was worth the wait the color was perfect & it was the perfect mix of sweet and strong. I also love that they didn't put ice so it didn't melt into the drink & my drink still stayed cold.
google avatar

Yelp
I've had this shop saved for a while and finally was able to try when I came up to the city. The shop itself is pretty small with only 3 tables on the inside and 2 tables on the outside. It's located in the Mission so it's quite busy to be sitting there enjoying my food while people walk past. The inside did feel a bit cramped so we just took it to go. The tonkatsu sando with pineapple was delicious. Tonkatsu was cripsy and the pineapple complemented it nicely. The matcha latte with strawberry cream was a 10/10. The drink size was big as well. My cousin got musubi, onigiri, and the egg and potato sando. He really enjoyed the musubi and spam was still crispy even though it's been wrapped for a while. The onigiri was a 6/10 for him. The filling was a bit salty even with the rice.

Phoebe W.

Yelp
Loved the strawberry matcha here so much! I would definitely recommend this to everyone and i think it was stated that it was a new item on the menu? The service is alright. There was a lot of people and i waited around ~10ish minutes for my drink. There's also very limited seating.

Yelp
Best matcha I have had in a while!!! Food was okay but overpriced. Would not get the food again but will return for the drinks!

Yelp
We have all seen this viral shop on Tiktok and being a huge matcha fan I tried 2 of their cream top matcha drinks. The strawberry matcha was perfect and the salted cheese matcha was really interesting too, although I would have preferred a little sweeter. The service is really good even though it is so busy. We got there around 10:50 AM (10 minutes before opening) and there was already a line out the door. So my biggest advice is to come early! Loved the energy this little shop brings to the Mission.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place! I'm rating this place at 3.5 stars. I got the strawberry matcha latte, matcha latte with salted cream cheese, strawberry sando, and chicken karage sando. Total came out to be ~$50. The matcha lattes had a muted flavor. I still prefer the OG Stonemill Matcha or Matcha Maiko over Tadaima. I wasn't a huge fan of the strawberry sando but I loved the Chicken sando!!! Chicken sando was flavorful. The chicken was juicy and a mustard that paired well with it. Presentations: beautiful! Parking: find street or metered parking! Wait time for food: did not take too long. 10 minutes max. Seating: very small establishment. There is cramped seating inside and a couple tables outside

Yelp
I saw a lot of good things about this place and finally got to try it! I went on a Saturday morning and there wasn't much of a line. I ordered a Hojicha latte, spam musubi, chicken katsu sando, and a strawberry and cream sando. The hojicha latte was not as good as the matcha latte but everything else was phenomenal. The chicken sando had crispy fried, tangy sauce, and soft bread elements that made it perfect. If you don't like chicken sandos because they're usually sweet, you'll love this! The strawberry and cream sando was a great dessert, with perfectly ripe fruit and it wasn't too sweet. The spam musubi had rice, nori, egg, and spam. It was savory and perfectly seasoned. I loved getting these street snacks and will definitely be back. There was a huge line around noon and I could see why! 10/10 will be back again!!

Yelp
Quick Summary: - Line could be long - After ordering, listen for your name - Few seats inside and outside - Small interior - Within walking distance from either the 16th or 24th street BART - Entered hungry, left pretty content We visited here around a chilly autumn, and lunch time was nearing. The line was there but not too long, so after a few waits and deciding what to eat from Tadaima, it was our turn to order. We ordered a few items: the match latte, the strawberry matcha latte, the red bean, mochi with matcha cream sandwich, and the chicken filet karaage sandwich. A short disclaimer that the strawberry matcha latte was a seasonal or a limited edition item. Inside of this cafe is small; half of the interior contains the kitchen, and the other half are the tables and a bar pointing to the window. In total, there are three places to sit inside, and then an extra 2 or 3 tables and chairs to sit outside. Fortunately, we were able to claim a seat near the table with the window, so we took a seat there as we waited for our order. Drinks were called out first and then the food came afterwards. After taking photos we traded half a sandwich from our order, so we got to taste both versions. I was hungry at the time we entered this cafe, and these sandwich, one box can fill you up pretty much. I ate the savory chicken filet karaage first and then the sweeter red bean, mochi with matcha cream later as dessert. I enjoyed the savory sandwich a lot more, and my friend enjoyed the sweet sandwich. The chicken karaage sandwich is tender, juicy sandwich with a refreshing tang of mustard. I loved the crispness of the chicken breading. It is not completely crispy because it's been sandwiched and drizzled with sauce, but in some bites I got some of the texture. Chicken is marinated well, so each bite does not taste bland at all. Finally, the soft bread retained the juices of the filling and kept it together to have a relatively clean eating experience. The red bean mochi and matcha cream sandwich is like eating a light cake. It's delicately sweet and have minimal texture. Overall, it's a very soft textured sandwich because the toppings are soft as well. The mochi is evenly spread across, so each bite I got the mochi. While I enjoyed this sandwich I might have requested more of the red beans to get more texture. The matcha latte was good, but I felt it had more milk than matcha. Or, maybe I should have requested less ice to get more of the matcha flavor.

Yelp
We got the chicken fillet karage sando and Potatoes and egg sando. Both were amazing, the chicken sando was super crispy, savory and the bread was so soft. The potato and egg sando was potato salad with a runny yolk egg i the middle topped with crispy onions. There was a bit of a line when we arrived but it moved really quickly. I also tried the black sesame latte and the server let me know that there were different milk options available. This place is decorated super cute! There are only a few seats / chairs on the inside and outside but mission dolores park is only a couple blocks away so you can enjoy your meal there!

Yelp
The chicken filet karaage sando was very delicious but a little bit pricy for just one sandwich. The hojicha latte was not my preference, didn't really like the taste, but would definitely come back to try the matcha and onigiris!

Yelp
Delicious and fun options! We ordered the special tonkatsu sando, was delish, only wish was the bread was a bit toasty. The strawberry and cream was delish. Their matcha variety was good both matcha and hojicha options! Wish they didn't charge for lactose free milk though :( The spot has a few spots for seating probably about 9 chairs inside and then a few tables. Service was prompt but could be friendlier/ a bit more patient as the menu takes a few seconds to digest upon ordering.

Yelp
Matcha was decent here. With the rising popularity of matcha at cafes it's nice to come across one that does it right. The latte tastes fairly sweet from the sweet cream foam. As someone who doesn't necessarily enjoy sweet drinks I still thought the matcha was good. My suggestion for making this drink better would be to have the matcha shot and milk mixed well together before adding the foam on top. The separated layers while sipping on the drink make it less complex because you need a straw to get a stronger taste of matcha that sunk to the bottom. Having a thoroughly mixed matcha latte as the base with the foam on top can ensure an even distribution of the matcha flavor. My preference is to sip the foam on top and not mix the sweet foam in with the latte. Hopefully they can consider this suggestion next time :) Service was very friendly. We arrived around opening at 11:00 am so we were able to enjoy our drinks inside the cafe without a crowd. The ambiance reminded me of that from a shop in SoHo nyc. I'll definitely be back to try their regular iced matcha latte to see if it tastes just as good without the sweet component of the foam.

Yelp
THE creamiest matcha!! I tried their strawberry matcha, chicken katsu sando, pork katsu sando, and red bean matcha sando! Will visit again when I'm in the area!

Yelp
The matcha is amazing quality. We got the salted cheese and the strawberry cream. Both were very rich. The service is quick but the establishment is small and they don't have WiFi. Not an ideal spot to sit and hangout.

Yelp
I came here recently, and got the matcha latte with strawberry cream, the chicken katsu sandwich, and the tonkatsu sandwich. There's not too much of a wait for the drinks, but the sandwiches took a decent amount of time. There's enough seating inside and out where everyone waiting could grab a seat/table. The matcha was good, but not amazing. Definitely some grasser notes that were throwing me off. The texture was done right; well frothed and creamy. The strawberry cream felt unnecessary though! The chicken katsu was really good. The chicken was super tender, and the sauce was delicious (albeit a bit like McDonalds). The skin wasn't as crispy/tender as I wanted though, so it was hard to bite through the pieces of chicken. The tonkatsu was just ok. Meat was pretty tough, and I don't think the pineapple worked well with the meat. Overall, definitely worth checking out, but there are better matcha/katsu sandwiches in SF!

Yelp
I was incredibly excited to finally try this place, but it ended up being a bit of a letdown. We ordered the hojicha and matcha latte, both of which were absolutely delicious and refreshing. The quality was evident, and I felt the drinks were worth the price. The food, however, fell short of expectations, especially considering the cost. We tried the mixed fruit sando, but I was disappointed--the cream was hard and lacked freshness. The onigiris were flavorful but noticeably small for the price. Seating was also extremely limited, making it tough to enjoy the experience fully. I'd come back, but only for the drinks.

Yelp
Super hyped up spot and tried a bunch of items. We got the matcha latte and hojicha latte, both were pretty decent but wish we changed the sweetness to taste more of the tea. Was it pretty ok spot for drinks and would get it again. Also got the katsu sando which was pretty good but thought it was interesting that it had mustard in an asian sando. Also tried two onigiris which were pretty big and filling. Would come back for snacks and drinks, but wouldn't wait if there's a long line

Yelp
I've been to Okaeri for dinner before and was super intrigued to find out that the owners opened a cafe Tadaima for lunch! This is also when I learned that Tadaima means "I'm back" and Okaeri means "Welcome home", which I thought was a really sweet idea for naming two sister restaurants. I live in the neighborhood and have been twice now, once during their soft opening and once after they officially opened. Between two of us over two visits, we were able to sample a majority of the menu. We tried a couple of the onigiri (curry chicken and beef) as well as the omurice spam musubi. They were not bad but I probably wouldn't order them again as they weren't particularly special. The rice is also mixed with bonito flakes and some other seasoning, which I didn't mind but my partner did not like. Of the sandos, we've tried two of the savory ones and two of the sweet ones: - chicken filet karage: this one is our favorite sandwich there probably. really well fried chicken, crispy and juicy! - egg salad: not bad, not mindblowing. I could've used a little more filling but it was tasty overall - red bean, mochi, matcha cream: I didn't love this one. the mochi texture wasn't very good in the sandwich. it was soft but not chewy at all (kinda just broke apart). The matcha cream was fine (not too sweet) but it was pretty thick. that with the mochi made this a pretty heavy sandwich that I wasn't super into - banana, nutella, choco cream: I was a fan of this one. can't really go wrong with bananas and nutella and cream! We've also tried both the matcha latte with salted cheese cream and the hojicha latte with salted cheese cream. They were both really good and I'd definitely consider coming just for a drink sometime. Overall it's a pretty cute Japanese cafe, which is not super common in the city. Great place for sandos and drinks!

Yelp
Jamie W was so excited to tell me this spot opened in the Mission because we are aficionados of the konbini (convenience stores) in Japan - Family Mart, Lawson's, 7-Eleven (way better than the US counterparts). Their sandos were our complete addiction whether they were breakfast fillers or late-night post-bar munchies. Mind you, just prior to visiting this spot, I tried the new egg salad sandos here in SF at 7-Eleven. They were a major meh, way too bready (review: https://yelp.to/Z_VEXQHYLm). This place appears to be more dedicated to the art of the sando as well as onigiri and musubi. I stopped by to test their cred. Pretty good and definitely a welcome addition to the Mission. I ordered kinda big and took most of it home. I started with the $5.75 Iced Americano with Salted Cream Cheese (photo: https://yelp.to/3TdrFkkbYz). It was reasonably good but not a standout. Better was the $16 Chicken Filet Karage Sando, a hearty, crunchy and pleasantly tender sandwich supplemented by lettuce, paprika, and aioli. Although discernibly larger than its Japanese sando counterpart, the milk bread had the right level of softness given the heft of the other ingredients (photo: https://yelp.to/bGBYqAazt1). I was not quite as enthralled with the $12 Strawberry & Cream Sando (photo: https://yelp.to/ny3f-ks6ZR). It was fresh and sweet but needed more finesse. My point of comparison is the $5 Fruits Sundo offered at Dela Curo Curry now in West Berkeley (review: https://yelp.to/_EZdGABJZH). As the reduced price implies, it just had a welcome lighter touch. For takeout, I got the $6 Yuzu Salmon Onigiri and the $4.50 Chicken Curry Onigiri (photo: https://yelp.to/M-9ej6T5ls). They required a minimum of two orders of onigiri presumably due to the effort. Both tasted authentically good, though it threw me off to see the fillings on the outside. FOOD - 4 stars...solid execution on the chicken sando and onigiri, authentic enough AMBIANCE -3.5 stars...compact space with limited seating, expect to take it to go SERVICE - 4 stars... nice and helpful TOTAL - 4 stars...at last a place to get Japanese sando RELATED - Exploring the Mission? Yelp
I stopped by for an early lunch, and the line was already down the street (~15+ people). The seating inside is also very limited so it's best just to grab and go. I picked up an iced americano, egg sandwich, and two onigiri/rice balls (rice, seaweed, and a bit of salmon and snow crab). The onigiri tasted good and the to-go packaging was nice. I was surprised by the price of the onigiri, even if the restaurant is in a high-cost area. 美味しかったけど、おにぎりなんかちょっと高いですね。Also, keep in mind, you can't just order one onigiri; you are required to order two, which makes it more expensive.

Yelp
This is my second time visiting and I came when it just open/on a weekday. The line wasn't long but once it hit 12pm a few ppl had to wait outside. Today I tried their new matcha latte with strawberry cream, reg matcha latte, and their matcha mochi red bean sandwich. Their regular matcha is great since you can really taste the matcha itself. The strawberry is good as well but after a few sips it got a bit too sweet and I found myself wanting the regular one. However overall the drinks were a 5/5. Sadly the sandwich was underwhelming. I expected the mochi to be chewy/soft however it was dense. This was a 3.75/5. Im glad I got it but won't get it again.

Yelp
One thing about me is that I will always try an onigiri, so when I heard about this spot that not only served onigiri, but also served matcha and sandos, I knew I HAD to come. I've seen this place a lot on social media, so I was concerned about the crowds. I went this past Sunday a little after one. There was a short line, but it eventually became no line. I probably just caught the end of the lunch rush. The line moved pretty fast. The inside is clean and small, but it was a little crowded because everyone was waiting for their food. There are a few small tables lining the side and a few tables outside. I imagine that when it's more crowded, you're better off taking your food to eat at the park. I decided to order an iced matcha latte with oat milk and two onigiri, yuzu salmon and snow crab. Note, the alternative milk coated extra and you're not allowed to order just one onigiri. I didn't have to wait long for my drink. It was pretty sweet, so if I were to come again, I would see if I could order unsweetened. Despite that, the matcha seemed like good quality. The onigiri were ready about 10 minutes after my drink. Unfortunately, they weren't my favorite. I appreciate the unique filling, but I don't think they were worth the price. They were small and the yuzu was a little overpowering. Maybe I just prefer the no frills onigiri that I can get at places like Kissako Tea in Japantown. That being said, everything seemed like it was high quality and crafted with care. I will come back to try their sandos and other onigiri fillings. This place isn't the cheapest or quickest, but it's a cute spot for a fancier snack or beverage!

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday afternoon and was genuinely surprised that there wasn't a long line out the door. My fiancé and I ordered the iced matcha latte, iced hojicha latte, and 3 fruit sandwiches (strawberry, grape, and mixed fruit). Luckily we didn't have to wait too long for our order. This isn't a major issue, but I would have preferred if they called out my name when either both of drinks were ready or my entire order was ready. The interior can get cramped since it's small and there's people sitting and waiting in line, so it was a hassle coming back for each item. Both of the drinks were good, but I have a sweet tooth so I would have preferred my drinks a bit sweeter. It tasted like they used good quality matcha and the drinks weren't watered down, but I've had better matcha lattes. The fruit sandwiches were also good but honestly overpriced. The bread was fluffy and the cream was delicious. The strawberries tasted fresh and were my favorite. The grapes didn't have any flavor, so I just tasted the cream. The mixed fruit sandwich had kiwi, canteloupe, and strawberry. The canteloupe didn't pair well with the cream but it didn't taste bad. I appreciated that they didn't skimp on the fruit servings though. Overall, everything was good but didn't live up to the hype. I wouldn't make it a priority to come back nor wait in a long line either.
