"The first time I ate the salmon-and-crawfish musubi at San Mateo’s Takahashi Market, a portable snack food made with such care that it goes toe to toe, in terms of sheer deliciousness, with any fine dining entrée." - Luke Tsai

What a nice little hidden gem in downtown San Mateo! Great selection of musubi, poke, and spam. The loco moco with gravy was delicious, as were several of the other musubi rolls. So glad they have been around for over 100 years. Parking lot is a bit small and will require some patient maneuvering to get in and out.

Takahashi Market has its own charm despite being small and located at a lesser popular spot compared to other local Japanese markets. In fact, you'll love it when you find out they have their own private parking spots which can host around 10 cars. I came on a Monday at 11:40am and I can find parkings right away. There are a few tables and chairs set right in front of the market for you to sit down and enjoy your lunch if you opt to. As soon as you walk in, friendly staff will greet you with a smile. If you're like me and you're interested in their poke selection of the day, proceed straight to the back of the market, where you'll find ample poke selections to satisfy your fresh poke crave. You then can head straight up to the front area to grab a 7-inch-long hot musubi or two. There are so many options for everyone, ranging from salmon, chicken, crawfish, loco moco, spam, to Ebu tempura, Kuala pork and unagi musubi. I was like a kid in a candy store and couldn't decide which one. Eventually I picked the unagi musubi and it didn't disappoint! The musubi is 7 inches long as mentioned earlier and has lots of well-seasoned unagi (eels) in it. The rice was well cooked and has nice texture. I love that the musubi is cut in half, making it easier to share or to save for later. The portion was so generous that I could only finish half. The price for my musubi is $11 which is very reasonable, in my opinion. The pokes here does not disappoint either. I'm especially impressed with the freshness of the salmon poke. It tastes exactly like what I've experienced before in Tokyo, Japan. Reasonable pricing for the poke as well as a small poke ranges from $8-$10. Though being small, Takahashi market is organized, neat and clean. They even give you a cute Japanese milk candy at check out and free cooked rice to go with your pokes (with 2 options of either brown or white rice). Overall, I enjoy my experience here and will come back for their poke and hot musubi the next time I'm in the area. Highly recommend!

Google
This place is awesome! So many things that you can’t find at most grocery stores, and the fresh food is great. I really liked the loco moco with mochiko chicken - the chicken was flavorful and the serving size was big. The poke was also solid, and the mac salad is a crowd favorite. Very kind service too, and there’s outdoor seating if you can’t wait to go home to eat your haul.

Google
The Loco moco was okay but it's really good if you like onions. I loved the poke I got and will go back for that and try the edemame rice to go with it. Thanks for reading

Google
Came here early before they opened to get our hands on their musubis - def worth the trip! The unagi crawfish one is rly yum but can be quite heavy. The cabbage kolua pork one is also quite heavy. The mochiko chicken is on the lighter side but still very flavourful. Their poke are super fresh too! Tried the hamachi and tuna.

Been going for years. Never been disappointed. If they didn’t have sushi your looking for be sure to ask.One of the jewels in our area

Google
Extremely friendly, delicious food, can't ask for more than that. I had the musubi with salmon belly and it was really good, it was one of the specials. I can't emphasize enough how friendly and helpful the staff is. Good service is easy to find, amazing service is not and they deserve some love for that. Thank you!

Came here on a Sunday afternoon at noon with my family and friends. The line wasn’t bad at all, maybe like three people in front of us. We had to wait maybe 10-15 minutes to get the food and found outdoor seating (which was limited) and parking (luckily since there wasn’t much space). Food: We got the Salmon belly musubi special and then Large Saimin and also the Salmon Poke with cucumber salad. The musubi definitely stood out as a really rich flavorful dish and it almost melted in my mouth. The Saimin was good, not stellar but it was very nourishing. Service: The waiters were very kind and patient and brought our food outside to us as we waited! Ambiance: It’s a small casual grocery market and not the fanciest of places — flies buzz around and it’s not easy to find spaces but if you’re on the go it’s perfect. Would recommend this place to anyone who’s driving from SF to the South Bay since it’s right off of the 101 highway!

Yelp
I love the spam musubis at takahashi market! They're all packed with flavor and filling, and they are HUGE so you'll definitely get full. Depending on the protein inside it'll range from 8-10$ I believe. I liked the crawfish one and I've also tried the loco moco, which was ok. Takahashi also sells their own version of a popcorn chicken plate and I really enjoying every bite of it.

Kayley C.

Yelp
I would come here through out high school and it's been a decade since I have been back...it's just as good if not better than I remember. So excited for their new musubi's and we can't wait to come back to try more!

Carrie Z.

Yelp
Super legit. Get here for awesome Hawaiian. We had a group for lunch, so we split everything up. Musibis, pokes, lunch plate. You can't go wrong. The tiniest of issues...no mac salad! The coconut curry worked with the mochiko fried chicken. But, I needed my double carb fix!!! I'm here regularly, and that's not often enough. Friendly, efficient staff. Great value. Delicious food.

Yelp
I've been meaning to try the food at this market for the longest time but I've never made it within their business hours. I finally got to try it just a week ago and I'm in love! We got a salmon belly musubi, a container of salmon poke, a container of hamachi poke, and a box of hot brown rice from the counter. $30 for this lunch was a steal! There's a few tables outside that you can dine at but it's pretty much a market inside. I'd definitely come back if I was looking for a quick meal.

Yelp
This reminds me of Hawaiian mom and pop stores that sell food. Takahashi sells bento boxes at reasonable prices. There was a line when we got there. Alas we already ate so went in to find the musubi. The musubi case is located in the front of the store inside a heated display case. I got the salmon, Bam! and regular spam musubi. The musubi has a lot of heft and it was good. Good enough for dinner. Market items are expensive. The market itself is a hole in the wall but the food is delicious

Jeannette L.

Yelp
I love love love this little hole in the wall market/restaurant. It's definitely a hidden gem that most locals are the only ones that know about it. The family that owns it are so amazing and nice. They are quick when you order your food. And it's decently priced. I'd come back here all the time if I could!

Vicky Y.

Yelp
An absolute hidden gem!!! A couple steps away from downtown San Mateo, Takahashi Market not only sells unique snacks and food directly from Hawaii, but also has a large selection of freshly made musubis and entrees! When I say freshly made, I mean I couldn't hold the musubi for more than a couple seconds because of how piping hot they were! I was a bit worried about the musubis selling out, but when I went on a Saturday around 2:30pm, there was still a big selection of 10-15 different types of musubis, I ended up getting the one with spam, egg, and bacon. Each musubi log runs about $8-10 and comes with two musubis so it's perfect for sharing. The furikake mochiko chicken was made-to-order and was perfectly crispy and the sauce flavor paired so well. Big fan!

Kristi I.

Yelp
I know where to go when I'm craving Hawaiian food and snacks. When I first walked in, a friendly employee greeted me and took my order. He gave me an order slip to hold onto while I shopped around the market. There was a good selection of drinks and snacks that reminded me of walking into an ABC Store in Hawaii. After I loaded up my basket with musubis, lychee gummies, and passionfruit/lilikoi jelly and syrups, I made my way back to the front to pay for the groceries and hand them my order slip. I thought I'd have to wait a bit since I gave them the order slip while I was checking out and not before I started shopping, but I only waited two mins before someone came out to hand me my box of furikake chicken. The combo of aioli and furikake elevated the flavor of the mochiko chicken, but I was expecting the texture of the batter to be a bit chewier. There was a small parking lot with a few spaces, but it was full during peak lunch hours (I managed to snag one of the last spots around noon on a Wednesday, but it was full when I left at 12:30). There are also a few outdoor tables to enjoy your freshly made food.

Yelp
We've been going to Takahashi Market for years, but before the pandemic, so it was nice to revisit with them. Still amazing quality seafood, especially the poke. Also, the pre-made musubi of various flavors in two sizes are awesome. I only picked up a snack, since we just ate lunch. Smoked Salmon Musubi (4/5). The musubi is filled with a generous portion of cooked smoked Salmon. It has a slight mayonnaise taste to it. The seaweed is quite oily, so be careful. Otherwise, the musubi is so tasty and savory.

Rose P.

Yelp
Pipping hot tender Lau Lau with Kahlua pork and cabbage. So freakin delicious! And they topped the rice with a cute little spam in the shape of a Christmas tree and mitten for the holidays. Crunchy savory a tiny bit of sweetness mochiko chicken served nice and hot! Also got delicious Kirstie's Kookies short bread oatmeal. And can't forget the ahi poke with spicy sauce on the side. All the staff was super nice and eager to help me in a genuine humble friendly type of way. So much Aloha in this place. I'll always come here when I'm in the area. I heart you Takahashi!

Yelp
Crazy merchandise in stock. Even though I just got off the plane from Hawaii, by stepping into Takahashi Market in San Mateo I felt like I portaled back to Hawaii. Every single aisle had some treasures from the Islands, and even more than even Costco! Was it more expensive? Well yes. Consider it the cost of logistics. Was it a good selection? It was almost everything I brought from Hawaii, and more! Also impressively available at Takahashi's were fresh mochi from the local area AND some from Hawaii ("strategically" located at the cashier checkout corner for that spontaneous buy and drop into the bag!), fresh made musubis and sushi rolls. Will I be back? Yep, for sure. Today's take was a whole bunch of fun looking snacks: 1) golden curry mochi chips, 2) Teri tamari mochi chips, and 3) Funaoka shoga (shredded ginger) tsunami crackers. Located on North Claremont Street, parking available in small private lot and more on the street.

Yelp
What I ordered: -Salmon Belly Musubi [4/5] -Loco Moco Musubi [4/5] _ I visited Takahashi Market on a Saturday afternoon around 3, but unfortunately, they were sold out of musubis. I came back earlier another day, around noon, and the case was fully stocked! I should have checked the reviews, as many mention that they typically sell out by 1-2 PM. I ordered the loco moco and salmon belly musubi, and both were delicious! The loco moco was especially unique and packed with flavor. It's a small market offering grocery items, poke, and other lunch plates. There are a few tables outside if you want to dine there, but most people grab their food to go.

Jenna T.

Yelp
Takahashi Market never misses! Their hot lunches are always on point and now they have their variety of musubis premade and ready to grab and go. Such a great snack/lunch on the go. The salmon belly was FIRE! Shopping here feels like shopping at a local grocery store on the islands. They have most of the goodies like the ONO shrimp chips, hurricane popcorn, lihing mui candy and powder, Hawaiian Sun juices, and more! My only wish is to be closer and be able to visit on a daily basis. We were lucky to be around when they opened so it wasn't too busy. But I'm sure it gets packed esp for their freshly made food. Generous portions and takes you back to the islands!

Monica H.

Yelp
Finding Unique Musubis in a market @takahashi_market is the oldest Japanese market in the Bay Area where they offer Asian and Hawaiian groceries. However, you can also find an assortment of Musubis in the corner of the store! The workers were very nice and it's a clean store. Parking is easy with their own lot. Price varies, but it's a great quick and grab item for a picnic or enjoying fresh in front of the store. What are you grabbing!?

Dexter D.

Yelp
We dropped by after having had a huge lunch. There wasn't much left in the Hot Case as we had arrived at 2:40 and they close at 3:00 on Sundays. They were still taking orders for Plate Lunch but we passed. We just got some odds and ends. Things that we "couldn't do without". Kirstie's Kookies, Shrimp Chips, Mapo Tofu Mix and fresh Ginger. Oh, and a sticker produced by Sumofish. I wonder how much he would charge to customize a sticker design for me?

C P.

Yelp
Large variety of musubi & it's insane & incredibly delicious. Pick up and go Mac salad, poki, seaweed salad, haupia. You'd think you were in Hawaii. The only thing they have to work on is their kalua pork & lau lau plate lunches. I've ordered it a few times & I hate to say it, but it was dry...sorry.

Connie W.

Yelp
This is a rare find for good Hawaiian food.  The lunch meals were so delicious and reasonably priced.  Hamachi poke was super fresh. Pork Lau Lau was soft and authentic. Mochiko Chicken with cream sauce was tender on the outside and crispy on the outside, the sauce paired perfectly.  Next time, will try their good looking huge musubi.

Alden C.

Yelp
With over a thousand reviews, Takahashi Market certainly isn't some hidden gem in San Mateo and it was more apparent seeing it packed when I went during lunch hours on a weekday. It's clear this is definitely a go-to spot for locals during their lunch break and has been a big part of the community for a long time. The parking lot was packed and all the limited seating they have was filled. Its a relatively small local market on the inside with plenty of Japanese snacks and drinks, but they're well known for their wide variety of Musubis and lunch plates. I personally have only tried their Musubi and for the price it is pretty good value. The workers at the cashier there are also friendly. I got the Spam Musubi ($5.95) and it was pretty tasty. I would give a 5 stars only if they gave a slightly thicker cut of spam and towards the end pieces the ratio of spam decreased while it was mainly just rice (which was cooked perfectly). They used two slices in total of spam which is good enough as long as it's a thick piece. Regardless it still hit the spot and for around 6 bucks I can't really complain. It's a tier above other Hawaiian spots that sell Masubis. They also offer way more variety for Musubi flavors like salmon, salmon crawfish, pork lau lau, loco moco, chicken, kalua pork/cabbage, unagi, spam and egg, etc. I made the basic choice, but I definitely would have to try their other flavors in the future as well as their plate lunches.

Chloe K.

Yelp
a local favorite! you wouldn't really think about service when going to a market, but the staff here really make you feel like family when walking in. lots of delicious poke & musubi! i usually get the spam musubi which comes in 2pc, and eat outside on the chairs/tables.

Jade V.

Yelp
I love the spam musubi selection here! My favorites include the crawfish one and the loco moco one. One long log includes two musubis and is so filling. Their plates are great too. I usually get the kalua pork or loco moco. The employees are also always very nice. I only wish they had longer hours!

Nicholas G.

Yelp
Big fan of the spam musubi, crawfish musubi, and the various pokes. All the other musubi were just good, not great and I would personally skip the loco moco masubi as I wasn't a huge fan of their sauce

Erich L.

Yelp
Long time independent market that is popular with locals. They have some Japanese and Korean food for sale plus a lot of other things from Hawaii. They make different types of poke, spam musubi and the best part is the deli where they make things to order. I tried the Kalua pork plate it tasted like it was made in Hawaii. Staff are super friendly and helpful that could not be better. It's a small simple store that has great food.

Bhawana S.

Yelp
Great value and great taste. We always get furikake chicken, hamachi or tuna poke, musubi and mac salad. It comes around $30 and me and my partner split it. We love it!

Laura O.

Yelp
Love love love the loco moco masubi. The spam masubi is also delish. Love that they have a lot of Asian food staples when you are running low.

Amber N.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to get spam musubis. It's a little corner market that can be easily missed. But if you go before noon there's a little parking lot. Spam musubis price vary! They also sell other Hawaiian/Japanese food, snacks, and drinks. The store is very small only two cash registers. Service was quick and it was not busy when I went around noon. Would highly recommend for people to stop by this place!

Judith C.

Yelp
I love lovelove Takahashi Market. I love that it's a small, family-owned market with friendly staff, which makes it feel so homey. If you wanted to find something that you saw or ate in Hawaii, this is the place to check out. I haven't seen another market that sells this variety of specialty items. It makes me feel like I'm back in Hawaii again. It's not cheap though, but when I get a craving for haupia, I know I'll definitely find it here. Of course, I would be remiss if I didn't also mention little take-out food area in the market, Sachi's Kitchen. From the poke, musubi, loco moco, and the rice plates (I love the salmon ones).. everything is made so well with good portion sizes. Can't wait to visit again soon!

Joanna R.

Yelp
Nice cheap takeout Hawaiian food!!! It's a mom-n-pop mart selling Hawaiian dishes. They are well known for their Musubi and I would get there early (I think 11am) to get more choices. I usually get the Furikake salmon or chicken, while hubby gets the locomoco!!! I would definitely come back again when I'm in the area.

Teresa S.

Yelp
I have not been here since the pandemic. Whoa! How so much has changed. I love how Musubi's are pre-made, warm and fresh! I didn't have to wait! Still got to choose from an array of fresh poke. Organized and efficient store. Picked up a new insulated bag for our bounty! Everyone is always friendly here and full of Aloha. Luckily, we got a parking spot in their lot. Great spot!

Kayla P.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've been here but we were looking for something small to eat for lunch so we stopped in and grabbed some spam and salmon musubis. The prices are great for spam musubi and I like how they give you 2. There was some seating outside which was nice and the staff was also friendly

Brittany C.

Yelp
Yummy spicy salmon musubi. Back in March/April I was able to come at opening and order it but now they ask to place our musubi orders ahead of time.... Came on a windy Saturday morning to get my three orders or spicy salmon musubi to see that it was spicy spam musubi :( it was still good but we have been craving for the spicy salmon musubi. They had lots of varieties of musubi by the cashier but not what I wanted I dislike that it's not fresh musubi. They come out of the fridge and it's just not the same as fresh musubi.

Daniel L.

Yelp
Order the spam musubi, ahi poke, local boy, Korean wings, and kimchi fried rice. They're very good. It's nice walking through the aisles and shopping for snacks while waiting for my order. They have a small parking lot and it gets packed on the weekends. Be prepared to turn back out and park on the street.

Zaviera R.

Yelp
Musubi of my dreams. Spam didn't have the sweet sauce like in Hawaii so I recommend the salmon belly and unagi. Parking lot is small but people are coming and going pretty quickly. To get to the musubis just make a left as soon as you enter.

Brandi T.

Yelp
Finally made it out to this market in San Mateo and immediately felt like I was in Hawaii. We ordered the pork lau lau and the mochiko chicken loco moco. While we waited, we shopped around and grabbed poke ($8) and burrito sized spam musubis. They had tons of snacks from Hawaii and a lot of Asian snacks that you could buy. As for the food, the mochiko chicken loco moco was a 10/10. The pork lau lau was also delicious. The poke was fresh and comes with a marinade, which I liked. The salmon belly musubi was the best for us and the bacon, spam, egg musubi was great too. Would definitely come back!!

William L.

Yelp
Favorite market! Family business! Been here for a long time and I'm hoping they stay open because I want my kids and grandkids to go here for their food and love of Hawaii! They make fresh poke, rice, side dishes, musubi rolls and etc! You will not be disappointed with anything they have at this market!lots of options, plated fold options and other goodies! You can literally pickup a full meal here, regardless for breakfast, lunch, and or dinner! We mainly love the poke as it's so fresh tasting and the cuts are really good and chunky for that umami and texture taste in your mouth. Thank you!

Jean S.

Yelp
Takahashi Market is like a little piece of Hawaii in San Mateo, California. It's a small market that sells all kinds of food, snacks, drinks, and items that you would find in Hawaii. At the front of the store, they have many different kinds of hot musubi, including spam, salmon belly, pork lau lau, kahlua pork, bacon and spam, bam, mochiko chicken, loco moco, and so many more! At the back of the store, they have a refrigerated poke section with ahi (tuna), salmon, and tako (octopus), and hamachi on Fridays and Saturdays. They sell a lot of Hawaiian products, including guava jelly, lilikoi jelly, Hawaiian shortbread cookies, Hawaiian pancake mixes, Hawaiian print lunch bags, and many different flavors of Spam! They also carry Hawaiian Sun drinks in 6-packs and individually. In addition to the market, they sell hot plate lunches. Popular Hawaiian dishes such as loco moco, pork lau lau, spam and eggs, and kahlua pork are on the menu. We got some snacks and tried their spam musubi and salmon belly musubi. They were both really good! I look forward to trying more flavors in the future. Takahashi Market is a great market that sells Hawaiian specialties! The have super cute shirts for sale as well. There are tables and chairs in front of the market to eat outside. The market has a small parking lot, which is very helpful. Staff was very nice. Great market, great merchandise, great staff!

Michelle N.

Yelp
I came with my fiancé at 3pm on a Friday. I'm a huge fan of spam musubi so was eager to check this supermarket out! Although small, this market has quite a variety of unique selection of Hawaiian goods from ling mui covered fruits and candy to unique snacks. There is a small private parking lot. We didn't have trouble finding parking as we came an hour before closing but I can imagine it being a little more difficult during busy hours. Food (4.5/5): Unfortunately, the musubi was sold out by the time we got there but that was our fault for coming later in the day. A kind worker told us they generally sell out around 1-2pm but you can call to reserve some ahead of time and the store will set some aside for you to pick up at any time. We ended up ordering the Loco moco and Furikake chicken while also grabbing the Macaroni salad and Salmon poke. The Loco moco and Macaroni were good but I felt I've had better at other places. The Salmon poke was fresh and comes with a side of hot rice. Of all the items, I really liked and would recommend the Furikake chicken. It had amazing crunch and good flavor. The poke is also worth a try! Service (5/5): The ordering station is at the cashiers when you walk into the supermarket. You'll see a menu taped right at the cashiers area where one of the workers will immediately take your order. The rest is self service. The poke is located in the back of the store where you can just grab and go. If you don't see any left, you can double check at the cashier area because they can cut some up for you. They also have a hot bar area where warm foods like spam musubi are generally placed. All utensils and condiments can also be grabbed at the cashier area. Ambiance (5/5): the supermarket is clean, quiet, and organized. Once you order food, you can browse the store and do some shopping as you wait for your name to be called. Outside the supermarket, there are a few tables and chairs that you can sit and enjoy your meal. I can imagine if you work or go to school around the area, this would be an awesome spot to stop by for lunch! Overall, I would recommend this place and will be making another stop myself when I'm in the area to try the spam musubi!

Brenda L.

Yelp
BEST musubi's I've had in California!! Honestly, the quality really compares to the ones in Hawaii. I can't believe I haven't visited Takahashi Market earlier. I was swinging by the Peninsula area when I decided to finally check this place off of the list. We were looking for a light bite and this was the perfect meal. They have a decently sized parking lot, good for quick trips. They sell a variety of Hawaiian grocery items and goods, alongside their hot foods like the musubis and even poke. The musubis are located directly to the left upon walking in. They had flavors like the classic spam, unagi, loco moco, and more. I went with the salmon and crawfish ($12) since it sounded super unique. I would've loved to try the unagi and crawfish, this one sounded absolutely delicious - unfortunately for me though, it was sold out by the time we visited (around 1 PM on a Saturday). The musubis are warm and I'd recommend eating right away - each log contains 2 pieces of musubi. The rice was SO fluffy and there was a nice savory sauce in the musubi too. For the salmon and crawfish, I really loved how well the two meshed together. This was definitely my favorite out of the few bites I tried! We got a free bag for purchasing over $50 worth of items which was nice. Overall, I'd highly recommend their musubis - they seem like the perfect thing to grab before heading to the coast too!

Yelp
I do wonder if Takahashi Market's business is more from its pre-made musubi and plate lunch made to order or the actual grocery store items itself. For folks like me, I think I was just interested in the musubi and plate lunches made to order. Yummy. Takahashi Market has a large variety and selection of musubi. We get the salmon belly musubi and it was delicious. We also ordered the lau lau plate lunch and that was delicious as well. We also picked up a tuna poke and that was ok. There are plenty of other options for any Hawaiian foodie to try. Within the little grocery store, you can find little Hawaiian cookies, food, and treats. In the back, you'll find poke and some other goodies that are common to Hawaii. Limited seating outside and very limited parking spots. So, ordering and eating there may be a challenge at times. Take out may be an option or eating in your car, if you find nearby parking. I'd definitely go back.

Larissa Q.

Yelp
Neighborhood staple. Try the poke! Get some seaweed salad, make rice at home, and pair it all together. As authentic as it gets to hawaiian poke in san mateo.

Great place for musubi rolls. We shared a salmon crawfish roll and a Portuguese sausage roll. They come cut in half and wrapped in aluminum foil. Each musubi is quite large, enough for a full meal if you're not too hungry. The salmon crawfish was very creamy and full of umami, and the sausage was tasty as well. Overall the fillings had just the right amount of salt to balance out the rice.

Yelp
Love the musubi here! We came here to get some Japanese and Hawaiian food for lunch, we arrived right when they opened and there was already a small line on Saturday morning. The staff were friendly and you can order a hot plate at the front door. We got the pork Lau Lau, chicken, and loco moco musubi, all of them were delicious. I also got the poke and it was pretty good but I felt quite pricey (but what isn't pricey anymore). The store is small and they have about four tables to sit in the front. The lot is also quite small and was really busy, which goes to show how amazing this store is.

Yelp
My boyfriend took me here a while ago, we got two of the salmon belly musubi and one spam and egg rice box. The salmon belly musubi was soooo good, however it fell apart after two bites which resulted in a broken deconstructed musubi. I'm not docking a star though because the salmon was so moist and after finishing them, even though I was so full, we still wanted more! The spam and egg rice was just that, a comfort Asian/Hawaiian classic! It's a bit pricey but it hit the spot for that time. I love this little shop, they have many musubi to choose from with different toppings as well as a wide variety of Hawaiian snacks and poke. I did notice they carried snacks that you can only get from Hawaiian Costco - and was in immediate shock! Definitely give this shop a try! Will be back soon :)

Yelp
Great for quick, cheap on the go meals! They have poke, and big Musubis, great stop before a hike or picnic!

Yelp
Wow! The prices for the quality AND quantity of food is amazing. Also the staff were incredibly nice and welcoming. This market is great to visit for groceries and a carryout meal.

Yelp
small market serving hawaiian goodies and snacks. yummy musubi's in a grab to go shelf, come early or your favorite flavor might be sold out. by around 2PM pickings will be slim, the owner said you can call ahead to have them reserve/set aside some if you're not able to come earlier. personal favorite is unagi musubi- so good!

Yelp
This place is the shit. Small, looks family owned(ish?) good fresh stuff made daily, extremely reasonably priced. Like $8 for a little serving of poki? With free white rice on request? Hellz yea. Employees are all super friendly and happy. I've tried everyone of their musubi, unfortunately my favorite is the most expensive, but the Eggs/Bacon/Spam is my second favorite and only $8. You could easily get a soild lunch here for under $10, no problem. It's also a little Asian style grocery store, with the kind of stuff you'd find at Suruki or Nijiya, but the deli and the plates are the real deal. Get some! Support small local businesses

Yelp
This place is a well kept secrete. Its tucked away. Has a small parking lot but inside you feel like you walked into someone's Hawaiian kitchen, pantry. This place has everything you need and want when you have that Hawaiian itch. The staff is extreamly nice and helpful. The only thing I've eaten is the mac salad. (I needed for a party) . It was made with love. It was really good. I want to come back to try more food. #moononthego

Yelp
Takahashi Market is such a gem in the Peninsula! You can pick from a variety of hot musubis here, and I got a kalua pork + cabbage musubi and a mochiko chicken musubi. The kalua pork goes really well with the rice because it helps cut down on the salt, and the mochiko chicken was delicious! We also got Hawaiian nachos, but I would skip on that. They were really salty, and they barely had any salmon/tomatoes like it was listed to have. I wished there was more tomatoes to it because the acidity really helped with with the saltiness of the other components. Definitely would come here again though! They have so many musubis to try.
