"Takoi’s trendy space, sometimes referred to as the Mothership, features a menu influenced by Northern Thai cuisine, with much of it being sourced from the restaurant’s own HiO Farm, located a mile north in Core City. It’s a vegan-friendly place that serves incredibly flavorful, family-style cuisine and thoughtfully crafted cocktails. With moody lighting, spaceship vibes in the interior, and an enclosed outdoor patio area, Takoi transports guests to another galaxy. Reservations are encouraged, and online ordering is available for carryout." - Courtney Burk
"This local favorite and Eater Award winner from chef Brad Greenhill is known for its modern takes on Thai food, plus its commitment to seasonality and sustainability (after all, the restaurant operates a farm just a mile north of Corktown). The six-course shared menu at Takoi costs just $75 and features a mix of fan favorites and exclusive dishes from the kitchen. Full table participation is required for the food, as is true just about everywhere. Guests also have the option to add a beverage pairing, which offers a mix of sake and wine for an additional $38. Whether you opt for food or food and drink, it’s one of the most affordable tasting menus in the city. There’s also a vegetarian version of the menu that costs $60." - Danny Palumbo
"Takoi specializes in modern Thai dishes like khao soi and steak golae, aromatic coconut milk curry, ajaat, and grilled vegetables from its HiO Farm, located a mile away from the restaurant. The Corktown dining destination opened in 2016 after chef Brad Greenhill first made Takoi a must for food lovers as a food truck and pop-up. The seasonal outdoor patio is first come, first serve so come early if you want to snag a spot to enjoy a She’s a Brick packed full of Asian-inspired flavors, like lime leaf-infused Astral Blanco, watermelon liqueur, agave, lime, and celery bitters." - Vox Creative
"From the outside, Takoi is an all-white structure surrounded by a 16-foot-tall fence that looks more like a secret government operation than somewhere you’d have dinner. Once you walk inside, though, you’re transported to a scene straight out of Blade Runner, with neon green, pink, and blue lights that give it a “So this is what restaurants will be like in the future” feel. The menu includes a lot of shareable Thai dishes, like crispy spare ribs and khao soi, and not-Thai dishes, like smoked duck ramen, because in the future there are no rules. It’s a great starting point for a night out and while there’s usually a wait, you can grab a drink at Two James across the street in the meantime." - sara barron, sam faye
"The Northern Thai-inspired Takoi offers food specials during happy hour that are only available at the bar and, in the warmer months, on the patio. The Thai fried chicken sandwich, a coveted favorite, is available in addition to drink specials of a rotating cocktail and wine pour, and High Life is served as a special with a shot and half dozen wings. Hours: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday." - Courtney Burk
