"After closing in Logan Square last November, this Mexican spot from the Mariscos San Pedro and Obelix team is back with a shiny new West Loop location. Along with duck carnitas and al pastor tacos, they’ve upgraded their menu with new dishes like the shrimp gobernador taco from Mariscos San Pedro plus some tortas." - john ringor, nick allen
"Before closing in 2024, the original Taqueria Chingón in Logan Square was one of our favorite restaurants in the city. But after going through the five stages of grief and reaching a place of acceptance over losing their duck carnitas taco, Taqueria Chingón has returned. The new, larger space is in Fulton Market with a sidewalk patio, and a longer menu. The tacos are still full of perfectly seasoned ingredients that complement each other. Like that duck carnitas with orange, blood sausage with salsa macha, and a cheese-fried shrimp taco we first fell in love with at their sister restaurant, Mariscos San Pedro. We’ll be back for more, often. And if you see us, those are happy tears." - adrian kane, john ringor, nick allen, adrian kane, nick allen, nick allen, john ringor, john ringor, nick allen, john ringor, nick allen, nick allen, nick allen, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, adrian kane, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor
"Inspired by the street food of Mexico City, this chef-driven taqueria in a new, larger space in West Loop is a constant hive of activity. During the day, find the signature al pastor alongside hits like duck carnitas with date puree and sunchoke-habanero salsa or a particularly stellar fried queso with mole negro. Ever had a blood sausage taco with salsa macha? Here’s your chance. All tacos come on freshly griddled, chewy corn tortillas, and diners wait under a covered patio for their orders. Regulars know to keep a close eye on the restaurant’s Instagram: Specials like the crispy artichoke taco with tapenade aioli come and go with the seasons." - Michelin Inspector
"For excellent daytime tacos in Fulton Market, without the neighborhood's boozy taco crowd, head to Taqueria Chingón. All the tacos at this spot are made with chewy housemade corn tortillas, with your choice of a variety of flavorful fillings—like the morcilla, al pastor, and duck carnitas, where the duck is paired with a date purée, topped with pieces of orange, chicharrones, and habanero salsa. Plus, getting here during the daytime raises your chances of trying tacos that are gone by dinnertime." - adrian kane, john ringor, nick allen, veda kilaru
