12 Best Taco Stops in Durham, North Carolina | Eater Carolinas

"This women-led taco truck brings southern Mexican cuisine to Durham’s DIY district. An extensive menu of tacos features options like shrimp, fish, al pastor, and campechanos (a mix of beef, chicharron, and sausage). Unlike some of Durham’s other popular taco joints, Los Canarios also has some vegetarian options, like the tacos vegetales or the tacos champiñónes, the later of which is stuffed with griddled mushrooms in a creamy sauce." - Matt Lardie

8 Best Taco Trucks in the Triangle | Eater Carolinas

"A staple of Durham’s downtown, this taqueria’s menu is vast, painted in ornamental typography across the side of the truck. At Los Canarios you’ll find foods from across Latin America, from empanadas to tamales to sincronizadas to baleadas, a Honduran breakfast made from a large thick flour tortilla filled with refried beans, cotija, crema, and scrambled eggs. Though the owners were born in Mexico, the expansive menu caters to the diverse demographics in the local community and eaters who want to try it all." - Gabi Mendick

Their shrimp tacos are the best! The slaw is tasty, the salsas are bright and flavorful with just the right amount of spice. I also love her tamales, when she has them! I come here every week, they are always kind and I never wait too long for my food. Thank you !

I’m not sure what these other reviewers are talking about. Came here on 11/4 at about Noon food was not good. Burrito was bland: mostly rice, see photo (photo was of second burrito we tried just to make sure it wasn’t just mine, and the picture is first bites but it’s about the same ratio all the way down); chicken in burrito is bland; greens in burrito seem liked that cheap bagged stuff I buy at the grocery store; it was the most underwhelming restaurant burrito I’ve had. Tacos were burnt and crunchy: most beef was burnt crispy, but the few pieces that weren’t were good, and only one taco shell (give me two like everyone else). Chips and Guacamole: chips great, guacamole not great, more cilantro it seemed than avocado. I paid $55 for 2 burritos, 4 tacos, and chips and guacamole. Will never come back here. Maybe they have another cook on other days justifying these great reviews but today this was no bueno.

Great carne asada taco. It comes with some unusually thick slices of crunchy cucumber, line, and dangerous green salsa.

I usually write positive reviews, but my experience here was incredibly disappointing. I called in an order, hoping to quickly grab, but the worker started making food once I got there even though there were no other customers. This is understandable, but beyond this, the food quality and service was overall poor. My burrito was mostly rice with a small amount of tasteless chicken and very few diced tomatoes and lettuce. It was sloppily rolled and food was spilling out of it. I also had a taco, which was small portions with super burnt meat. The limes were hard, not ripe, and almost juiceless. The guacamole tasted good, but it was mixed with what I think is sour cream and lots of cilantro…so not a lot of avocado included. Overall not good. Then, I only got one small salsa for 2 items plus chips. I have never seen anything so poorly prepared at a Mexican restaurant or food cart in my life, and I regularly order this type of food when I do get the chance to go out. Eating out is expensive and a treat, and this experience was NOT worth it sadly :/

Love this place! Great food and very well priced. I got the lunch combo. The sauces are particularly good.

Did a local taco tour based on eater's recommendations and this was my favorite of the places we went to. Will be back for sure. Update: been back several times and have very much enjoyed everything I've gotten from here.

I only decided to try this food truck right before moving out of state because I would drive past it all the time and was curious. Let me tell you, I have been missing out! The tacos were absolutely delicious and full of flavor, especially the chorizo. Quick service too. Don't be like me, go to this place sooner!

Yelp
Sooo delicious, AMAZING variety, veg-friendly, and run by 2 really amazing ladies. This place was recently added to some local Eater list and I am sad more people may encroach upon my secret spot but also glad for them as their food is delicious. Have not tried everything - the burrito was a little steep for what it was, but the mushroom gordita is my favorite thing; I crave it all the time as a vegan/vegetarian.
