"This homegrown chain covers all the bases, serving taco favorites (seasoned pork, beer-battered fish, grilled vegetables) along with upscale proteins including roast duck (and sometimes lobster tacos). There’s also grilled shrimp drizzled with avocado sauce on a flour tortilla and shredded chicken stuffed into crunchy shells. Another location sits in Arlington." - Tierney Plumb, Adele Chapin

It's a very good restaurant It's pretty small, so if you are a big group, be careful. The food is really good, it's good portions. The waitress was really nice. The time for everything was pretty quick.

Food was pretty disappointing for a place that seemed authentic. The tacos gave a homemade taco vibe, but in a bad way. Eating them reminded me of something someone living alone who just came home from a 9-5 they despise would cobble together with last weekend's leftovers, because they wanted to have tacos but didn't want to order takeout for the 4th time that week. Tacos were ruined by unmelted cheese, a disproportionate amount of veggies, bland/ flavorless meat, and a lukewarm temp at best. The burrito was a log of mushy meat and beans. Margs tasted more like juice than margs. Service was barely acceptable and the only redeeming quality is that there is outdoor seating on the main street of Del Ray. We spent $100+ for 2 people; I'd have rather gone to the Taco Bell Cantina and paid half the price for the same quality of food and more alcohol in my drink.

Get here early, it’s small and the seats fill up quick! Definitely do yourself a favor and get the cheese dip appetizer. SO GOOD. I also loved the LA crispy taco with chicken. The kids meals included a lot and the kids enjoyed the cheese quesadillas. My husband said the burrito was OK and the shrimp taco was also OK. But they include a lot of meat in their tacos which was nice. Good service, fast, and cute decor.

The food and the drinks were ok. The service on the other hand was not. Our waitress was rude and seemed to be disturbed we were there. My family of four were the only patrons of color, and our server seemed annoyed to serve us. I ordered a kids apple juice, but was given a boxed mango drink instead. I sent it back and ordered a lemonade, but was given water with lime, and a bottle of simple syrup. There did not seem to be a language barrier, however this woman was intent on giving us whatever she wanted despite what we actually ordered. She did not crack a smile or communicate with us other that to bluntly ask what we wanted. We were totally turned off by the service and won’t be patronizing this spot again.

As others have posted, this is a small place, but it is family friendly and has a lot of regulars. You see people sitting at the bar reading, doing work or chatting with the bartender. The waitstaff is pretty good and always making sure you are taken care. While the food is good, they have a lot of filler in their dishes and light on meat products. Tad bit expensive and whil we may not become regular customers we'll stop by if we are in the neighborhood.

Came here in place of a packed los tips on cinco de mayo, very pleased with the switch! Everything from the chips/salsa to the massive burrito felt very authentic. As you can see by the photos, everything had a healthy portion of sauce which really enhanced the savory flavors of my burrito. As for the margs, my table was a split decision on them. I thought they were okay but 2 of my dining partners were underwhelmed. Still giving 5 stars for great service and the sauuuucccee baby

I have been here before and I will go again. Their margaritas are magnificently blended. We had one that was infused with jalapeños and another infused with habaneros. They were fantastic. The infusions blended perfectly and gave the right amount of flavor and a spicy kick. My girlfriend ordered a burrito al arriba which was huge, but seemed a little underwhelming in the flavor department. I honestly was expecting more from the burrito in regards to flavor, but it seems that all the flavor was in the sauce on top. The guacamole was very fresh and delicious. I ordered the tamales, because duh, tamales. I got one pork and one chicken tamale and I think the chicken was seasoned better. The rice and guacamole were consistently delicious, but I found the slaw that accompanied my dish to be a little lacking. It looked well seasoned, but after trying some, it was rather bland so I didn't eat the rest of it. The portions of food were impressive and maybe even a little too much for one person in one sitting. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the restaurant was comfortable and authentically ornamented. We ate outside because it was such a beautiful day.

Small and fairly authentic Mexican place between Arlington and Alexandria . Got two tacos and guacamole and chips. The chorizo taco was surprisingly my least favorite . The crispy beef taco and guacamole was good.

Kahla B.

Yelp
LA Style Tacos and the BEST margaritas! This was my Thursday night happy place. I am originally from SoCal and this is the only place that understands shredded beef crispy tacos! I'm now in Colorado and still can't find anything quite like them.

Yelp
A pretty typical mainstream Mexican restaurant located in Del Ray. What is, to me, most notable about Poblano is the very loud, very exuberant atmosphere, perhaps at least partially fueled by all the margaritas being swilled. Service stands out as very good and very attentive. Food is decent but not noteworthy. But perhaps what is noteworthy is that Poblano has the stretchiest cheese I've ever encountered! We ordered the queso dip (topped with optional chorizo) served with 3 flour tortillas. The queso dip was good with a little bit of refried beans at the base of the dish. The 3 tortillas were not enough, so we used the complimentary tortilla chips to finish the dip. JP had the mole verde chicken, served with refried beans and Mexican rice. The mole sauce was good and the chicken tender. I ordered the tres enchiladas (pork, chicken and beef) . They were decent, also served with rice and refried beans. There was also a dollop of guacamole on my plate. It was nice that there was no cilantro in the guacamole, but it did have an overabundance of lime juice.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate an early birthday. We tested out their brunch menu. It did not disappoint. Both mains and the appetizer were delicious! I would highly recommend either of the three items that we indulged in! The service was slow in the being (they just opened) but picked up towards the end and was great! The decor of the place is super cool! It's definitely a small joint but has enough tables for a good amount of customers! We will return! Food was delicious!

Brigette K.

Yelp
The staff here are very nice and pretty attentive. I've been here in the past but it has been awhile. The food is not your typical Tex Mex because it's not a straight Mexican restaurant. I got the enchiladas and my boyfriend got a taco and the stuffed pepper. They were good however there was wayyyy too much cheese. We sat outside since it was a nice evening. I would like it even more if they upgraded it a little bit for the outside seating. Still a great option in DelRay.

Patrick F.

Yelp
The food was really good and filling. The staff were nice and helpful. The interior was clean and cozy.

Kateleen H.

Yelp
Stop what you're doing and order the tres enchiladas. They are so authentic, cheesy, delicious and consistent. I really can't recommend this place enough. The only downside is that the space is small, so we typically order for take out. Just went to pick up on a Sunday at 6, and the place has no empty seats. The food is 11/10 but so are their margaritas. Don't forget to give them a try and see why they have won awards for the past several years. You won't regret coming here.

Yan W.

Yelp
2.5 stars. Good service but the food is a little on the bland side. I liked the roasted scallions but everything else like the fish tacos, chips and salsa, etc where just bland. The customer service was very good and it's a very family friendly establishment.

Thasin S.

Yelp
Definitely the most disappointing Mexican meal I've experienced. We sampled various tacos and the shrimp and duck ones were the worst. The shrimp had an unpleasant iodine taste, even the side rice and beans we got left much to be desired. The service was mediocre at best. Considering the basic quality of the food and pricy bill of $100, it was far from a satisfying experience.

Yelp
Fish & pork & chicken & beef Tacos & burritos are outstanding.....the margaritas are exceptional too .....the 95% miserable liberal white privileged patrons are the only problem due to the heinous location in Del ray Alexandria.... The depraved & Marxist mayor (Justin Wilson) of Alexandria is a disgrace to he/him/his race & gender & all Americans....Make America great again.....'the border is secure' - Kamala Harris

Yelp
Ordered take out late last night, and the service & food were greatly improved. Everything was correct and well made. The Shrimp tacos were excellent, the chicken taquitos were crisp and had good flavor, and the guacamole was flavorful and luscious. I'm extremely pleased that my local restaurant has turned the corner and doing far better in service & food quality. Will definitely be back more often. Cheers!

Yelp
I wish I could give this a better rating because I remember loving the taqueria poblano location on Columbia Pike. Initially, I was very excited - the restaurant is exactly what you expect a Mexican restaurant to look like. Small, crowded, and bright colors - and I mean all of that in a good way. Unfortunately the rest of the experience was subpar. The salsa was delicious but the chips were cold. Service was a little slow. The margaritas were fine, but nothing to write home about. We were excited for the queso, but it didn't even measure up to grocery store queso. It was incredibly oily and had no real flavor to it (though we did have it without chorizo as I'm vegetarian so maybe they rely on chorizo for all the flavor). It tasted more like mozzarella cheese than anything else - definitely unexpected at a Mexican restaurant. We got the crispy LA tacos - one chicken and one veggie. Apparently the chicken was practically a pate, so overcooked that it was mushy. The veggies weren't great either, overcooked and mushy as well. Overall not a great meal.

John B.

Yelp
Was our favorite for years, but last month we brought out of town guests, and it was abysmal. Cold and flavorless. What happened? I don't know, but I'm not going back.

Theresa M.

Yelp
Cute place in Del Rey - I went with two friends who were visiting from Philly for the first time. They really enjoyed the enchiladas and the Birria tacos! The margaritas were delicious, too! Mango, cherry, and traditional - all tasty and refreshing! My tostadas were huge and started out tasty but for some reason there was a lot of water on the plate under the shells. Not sure if it was from the pork or from the lettuce and tomatoes. I will definitely go back to try some other menu items since my friends loved their choices and my son and his wife love the food here, too. Our waitress was very nice, too. Check them out!

Allison N.

Yelp
Really wanted to love this place, as I'd heard great things about it. But the food was just not good and had no flavor at all. Nothing was seasoned and it was just...bland. The chips and salsa they bring out are not high quality and pretty basic. Again, flavorless without the salsa, which was decent but not that memorable. We ordered birria tacos and I was SO disappointed with them. The meat was so dry! I ordered the mole chicken and my husband ordered the burrito. My chicken was VERY dry and the mole sauce tasted like nothing. You never want to eat food and have it have no taste. And dry chicken is the worst. My husband liked his burrito well enough but said it was just okay. I don't really know that I'd come back. Giving two stars overall because the service was friendly.

Yelp
Update// 10/19/2022 Hint : Eat in only- DO NOT ORDER TAKE OUT. Came in for late lunch, had a nice meal. Will never order take out from here again. Food is so much better when they know you can send it back for not being correct. 2021// I'm a neighborhood regular here. And I have to say, while I love the service here (2 stars) - the take out is often wrong, the staff have increasing difficulty with correcting errors, and the cooking has gone way down hill. I'm not sure what the issue is, because their arlington location is far, far superior. So they know the recipes that will work. And it's not as if they couldn't find good cooks or staff... I've know a couple of them by sight for the last decade. But tonight, I ordered shrimp tacos, they marked them as fish- but gave us CHICKEN. And I drove from Mount Vernon to bring this to family for Mother's day- [WHAT A MISTAKE!!!] I called up to say there was a mistake in the order, and the woman who answers starts acting like I'm ordering five more shrimp tacos and a chicken taco. No, no, give the the manager- please. It's busy, I wait on hold with the really bad country music playing, but the manager agrees to refund the tacos & my tip. Fair, but I'm without food - so, yeah. Go figure another place I need to get tacos from. I'm probably not ordering take out from the Alexandria location ever again. And sadly, as convenient as it is for me in the neighborhood of Del Ray, I'll probably drive over to the Arlington restaurant instead. I'd rather know my order will be taken correctly, filled correctly, and checked before it's given to me. Plus I'll still check it before trusting someone saying "Yes, I checked it- it's correct." -like tonight. Bottom line, I love the service staff. They earn it. The cooks need to all be retrained or just fired. And management needs to be onsite and solving problems- not "elsewhere" and only punching in occasionally. Haven't seen a manager on site in years. Unless he's in the back cooking, to which I'd say- there's your problem.

Yelp
I could've easily made Mexican food this bland and disappointing for myself at home. No bueno

Tiffany S.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place, because the customer service was okay. However, I didn't like the food. I had the Queso Dip to start. I give it a 6 out of 10. It wasn't nasty but it wasn't exactly good either. I also ordered two Duck tacos and one Shrimp taco. Anyone who really knows me will tell you how much I love Duck. I always order menu items that are made with Duck wherever I go. But those Duck tacos were not hitting though...it was a miss. The Duck was super gamey and there was not much seasoning or other flavors in the taco to mask it. I give the Duck tacos a 3 out of 10. The Shrimp taco was just okay. Again, there wasn't much flavor to the taco as a whole. I give the Shrimp taco a 5 out of 10. Overall, I have to give them a Two Star rating and I don't think I'll be coming back.

Ivy C.

Yelp
Tl; dr: Eat here if you have plenty of time to spare and nowhere else to go. Service was really, REALLY, really, really, really slow... and did I say it was slow? We ordered an appetizer and it got to our table 30 minutes later. We ordered our meals and we got those 20 minutes later. We asked for the bill and a box for my tacos, and it took them another 20 minutes. We seriously spent more time waiting than we did eating our food. And when we got there, the restaurant wasn't even packed. Now, about the food and drinks, they were tasty. But, I would have just gone to any of the other restaurants in Del Ray... and I'm sure they would have saved me plenty more time.

Yelp
Terrific gem of a restaurant in Del Ray with excellent customer service, fish tacos and beverages!

Yelp
Yelp. So cynical and so accurate. This place has 4.5 stars all over the place and only 3.5 on Yelp, and I gotta say Yelp's on the money here. Poblano is one of those faux-Mex places - not Tex-Mex, a hint of authenticity but unfortunately that's a veneer. Their cover photo is a burrito! They sell "real burritos" and describe them in Spanish - "a mano" or "al arriba". I gave up even trying to find real Mexican food on the menu and went for a burrito. Al arriba. It's one of those cheap and huge dishes, overflowing with fattening cheese and cream, made out of American ingredients with spices that are vaguely Mexican. I think I asked for mine with the spiciest possible salsa, and it barely rumbled on the Richter scale. That said, the food was delicious in that fattening, guilty way that I can't resist. If this place didn't keep trying to advertise "authentic" all over the place, I would likely have given it the benefit of the 4-star doubt. It's not authentic. I live down the block from authentic. I know what authentic looks and tastes like. My advice? If you're a student or recent grad who wants to stuff yourself at a restaurant for a reasonable price, this'll do the trick just fine. It works for a small crowd too. But if you want the real thing and you've got a little more money to burn, DC is a rich cornucopia of authenticity begging to be discovered, and I'm begging Poblano to aspire to that just a little harder.

Emma L.

Yelp
WOW this restaurant is SO GOOD!! Such great service and AMAZING DRINKS!! Let me tell you, the margaritas were wonderful and the Mexican sangria was sooooo great!!! Holy cannoli did we love it! The chips and salsa was great, as well. I had the blackened shrimp tacos that were so yummy and FRESH!! The staff were conversational and polite. The overall restaurant is not very big but it made for an intimate and fun dinner.

Becky T.

Yelp
Have been coming here and to their other two (now only one) locations since I was about 6 - so about 24 years. It is a reliably satisfying spot for some good tex mex, with great service, cozy decor and a reliable menu. I have essentially ordered the vegetable tostada for two decades. If i do stray its to the taquitos, tacos al carbon or quesadilla. Great margaritas and sangria, and the lime tamarind cooler is great if looking for something non alcoholic.

P S.

Yelp
Awful food. Side of guacamole almost $10. Was salty and flavorless. Same with the food. Ordered tostadas, burritos taquetas. All just bland and tasteless. Not a real taqueria at all. A total letdown. Just awful.

Terry R.

Yelp
Sweet neighborhood restaurant. Good service, good food. They make their own salsa. Great margaritas. Small but mighty Taqueria is a must visit if you're in Del Ray.

Vee L.

Yelp
Drinks are good. Food is ok. I got the chicken burrito which was a wonderfully huge portion. Unfortunately the chicken didn't have a lot of flavor and since the filling of the burrito was mostly all chicken, it wasn't a joy to eat. My partner got the Tostada. It was better than the Chicken Burrito but still nothing special. We got some regular margaritas that were yummy.

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
The margaritas were really tasty and the food was excellent. Great service too. I had beef taquitos to start and the chicken mole verde. Both were super good and authentic. Definitely recommend!

Ironlung M.

Yelp
Did not like the food burritos was over $16 for shredded beef tortillas very soggy messy to eat will go to Los tios next time better taste there

Pete V.

Yelp
What can I say, Taqueria el Poblano is one of the very best restaurants in Del Ray. Going to "Po-blan" as we call it is almost a religious experience...my wife craves the "best in metro DC" margaritas. I crave the Tacos al Carbon, which is by far their best dish. Charcoal-grilled chicken with rajas poblano and pico de gallo, it is quite simply a Mexican indulgence. Tender, beautifully seasoned chicken topped with savory poblano peppers and melted cheese. I add it to a flour tortilla with a bit of pico de gallo and it's simply incredible! If you order this you will not be disappointed. I am also a big fan of their pork tacos, baramundi (when they have it on the menu), and queso. Po-blan also offers an awesome Sunday brunch. I am addicted to their breakfast tacos...egg, chorizo sausage, potatoes, and some peppers it's an absolute treat. Least I not forget the staff here is phenomenal. Super friendly, attentive, and just wonderful people. We've had many great memories and meals at Taqueria el Poblano, and many more to come!

Trisha H.

Yelp
Our friends brought us here for a taco dinner since it's one of their go-tos in Del Ray. It was a cute little spot, but the tables were packed a bit too tight for my preference. The food was pretty good - they always enjoy the tacos, we got the beef tostado and the shrimp tacos al carbon. Our server was quick and attentive, although it did feel a little like we were rushed. It's a good spot but I need more trips to see if their food is above average.

Unique C.

Yelp
Maybe I got the wrong thing? I came here out of strong recommendation. I had a chicken and pork taco. ($8.75) Neither of which tasted particularly great. The tacos had an overwhelming amount of lettuce. May sound like a strange complaint, but lettuce are watery tasting, so the heaping mount did nothing for the taste and created the illusion of "stuffed" tacos. There was very little main ingredients in my tacos. My service experience left much to be desired as well. Didn't feel especially welcomed. Hey, this is a fast casual type place so I don't expect bells and whistles. Guess, I don't see the hype.

Shane C.

Yelp
Best Taco place in Alexandria. It a hidden gem, the drinks are good, the nachos are excellent, and the tacos are simple and fresh ingredients. I can't recommend this place enough.

Jimmy M.

Yelp
It's hard to say how I feel about this place because it was on both ends of the spectrum. My wife has told me for years how delicious this place is and she was right about that. Let's begin with the positive. We dropped in for Taste of Del Ray and got our five dollar sample of Birria taco which has got to be the best one that I have tried, especially with the broth to dip it in. Wow the flavor of the broth was amazing, just absolutely perfect for my palate! It had a slight sweetness almost like they were going after a Molé sort of appeal and I am a huge fan of sweet and salty so that touch of cinnamon or chocolate or whatever it was really hit the spot for me. I would love to know how they make that so tasty. The quality was definitely top notch however it was very disappointing that it was only one single average sized taco and a smaller than normal sized broth cup for $5 when each of us had already paid for access to these specials. (Which none of the restaurants checked for ticket confirmation and it seemed to be available for any random person who came in) I was under the impression that we would be getting deals but it was far from that. To be honest the pricing was a rip-off. But again the food was absolutely delicious and the service was quick, I didn't get a chance to look at the pricing of the rest of the menu so maybe at some point we will swing back in to see if that is worth it.

Colette F.

Yelp
Okay, hear me out. This place gets (online) a bad rap for the area, main motivation for reviewing. If I ever review It's either to rectify an impression that may be keeping people holding out too long (like I had with TEP) or dissuade others from spending hard earned money on a major bummer. Yes it's hard to come by good authentic Mexican, but what this place is not is an Americanized version of Mexican - which I regard as a huge plus. Yes, the chips were stale - they had prepared for the dinner rush and it was a rainy 80' day in July, Virginia, no AC. Everything else was simple, hot, homemade/well loved tried and true recipes. I thought I could detect a hint of cinnamon in the red chili sauce and the El Pastor was tender in a way like it had been cooked in an old pot. Beans were properly porky, hot sauce was less flavor and more to-the-back of your throat heat which is what you want if you are just trying to spicy-up your food and not looking to (have to) improve the flavor of it. I would like to have given a round of applause for these women if I could - darling little spot. (Didn't hurt that it was a date night))

Mike C.

Yelp
So I am not from this part of the country.... but this restaurant reminds me of dinner time In Mexico, Texas, Arizona or Colorado. The food is authentic and YUMMY! Their tequila selection makes one thirsty and the bar tenders pour like they are at a house party! Tell Jeff the Candyman sent you... Yes I record this place!

Rebecca S.

Yelp
I'll try this again once the pandemic is over, but we were really unimpressed. We got one of each of the LA-style tacos, and they were incredibly lacking in flavor. I couldn't even finish the chicken or beef tacos; the amount of lettuce was overwhelming, and the lettuce made everything else cold and soggy. There was a ton of meat, but that's not worth much if you can't choke it down. Maybe we didn't order the right items, but those tacos were an affront to good taste. The margaritas were solid.

Manuel G.

Yelp
The service is ok. The food is consistently underwhelming and overpriced. I have tried this place a couple times now and have to say I will never be back.

Merri D.

Yelp
Nice hidden gem in Alexandria with great margaritas. The chicken taco is definitely the standout. Good portions for a low key no frills meal

Billy Bob B.

Yelp
The chicken quesadilla was amazing!!! On a cool Saturday in February, I thought we were just popping in for a quick bit and then getting back on our busy schedule! I had no idea that I would be bookmarking in my mind the place I am definitely coming back to with family! -Empty plate in the photo because the food is in my very happy belly!!

David H.

Yelp
I ate here a few days ago. I want to find a place that is comparable to the Mexican food in Southern California. Unfortunately, this wasn't it. I wanted pork or beef tamales, but it turned out they only had chicken. I ended up having the tres enchilada plate. The rice and beans looked great, but they were just ok. The enchiladas also looked really good but seemed to have a slight cinnamon taste, which i thought was odd. It could have been just me though. One if my chief complaints about the DMV area is that the cost is high without generous portion sizes. I will say that the portions here are what I expect from a traditional Mexican food place. The food isnt bad, but wasn't what I was looking for. I was looking for something specific and this just wasn't it, but it is worth trying.

Dustin H.

Yelp
An awesome neighborhood atmosphere with incredible spicy margaritas and great apps. That covered, avoid the lobster tacos. They are SUPER over cooked and very tough. Everything else was delicious.

Catherine S.

Yelp
My husband and I have been here twice now. This most recent time was 5:30 on Friday evening and it was packed. That is always a good sign! It's not a huge restaurant but has indoor and outdoor seating and there was people waiting for tables by the time we finished. They bring you fresh chips and salsa as an appetizer. The salsa is minced very finely and was not too spicy. I really enjoyed it. For an appetizer we ordered the chorizo dip. We were so excited to dig in we forgot to take a picture of this. They bring you three soft taco tortillas to eat with it. I also enjoy dipping some of the chips in this as well. It's very good with the soft tortilla or the chips. My husband mentioned he would enjoy refried beans in the dip and I agree with him. It's just cheese and chorizo and although it was very good some beans would send it over the top. We both ordered tacos for our meal. I got one shrimp taco and one mahi mahi fish taco. My husband got three beef tacos. You can choose hard or soft shells. Both of my tacos were good. The fish was fried and the breading was very crispy even though it was inside the taco with slaw on top. I really like the avocado sauce they put on the shrimp taco and the pickled onions too. Two was just enough for me and I didn't feel overly stuffed. This seems like a very popular place especially with locals which, again, is always a good sign. We will definitely come back here from time to time. We have only tried tacos the two times that we have come so I'd like to try some other menu items on one of our next visits.

Mike S.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant. From the very first visit where a friend and I decided to give it a try, to all the subsequent visits where we drug everyone we knew to discover and enjoy "TP"! The food is excellent! They have things you don't see in most Mexican restaurants in the states. And the flavors remind me of when I lived in Mexico growing up. And the margaritas, they speak for themselves. No fishbowl slushies here. Just the best, fresh margarita you've likely ever had. And the staff are simply the best. They make you feel at home!

Ruth C.

Yelp
Two and a half stars. Rounding down for my frustration at a persistent fly. Pretty small joint, with relatively clean bathrooms tucked along the short back hall, knee-knocking four-seater tables inside, and three or four tables outside. We might've snagged the four-seater outside had we arrived a few minutes later, but it took them five minutes to get around to clearing it anyways. Not sure if they would have remembered to bring it without Hilvic's reminder, but the chips and salsa did well to hold us over until our meals arrived. Salsa was on the watery side, more puree than dice. Snuck a quarter of a straw-dropper of Keon's lime cooler while he washed up, and it was tasty even without the simple syrup they offered. Red and green chili sauces on the table, as well as a bottle of Cholula; all nice condiments for my Chile-braised beef burrito a mano, and LA style crispy taco with the same meat. Not a fan of the beef being shredded, but it still hit the spot after a rigorous afternoon of flag football and hoop-shooting. They were definitely heavy-handed with the shredded lettuce on the tacos. Pecked at a piece of Dietrick's chicken taco, which seemed a tad on the dry side but far from inedible. Burrito and taco made me super full; three tacos would probably be just right. Wasn't too crowded that late in the afternoon. Okay service quality. We grabbed a parking spot at a tiny lot across the street. If I come back-- and despite my strong criticism the menu still looks promising-- I'll definitely be trying other menu items and protein choices.

Yelp
I came here on a weekend for lunch. My husband and I have been wanting to try this place for a long time. I am from California and desperately miss good Mexican food. The place is small and really loud but they appear to move people through pretty quickly. We started with their famous margarita. The margarita was good, not too sweet and definitely can't beat it for the price. Their chips were very good, not oily at all and were nice and crispy. Their salsa was also very good too, it had a really good flavor. I had the chicken mole verde and my husband had their burrito with pork. My chicken was very good but was lacking a little in the flavor department. I added their house salsa and their spicy habanero salsa to kick it up a bit and that was very good. My husbands burrito was definitely more flavorful and it was huge. The staff was attentive and I thought service was very good. Does this give my favorite restaurant back home a run for its money? Definitely not, but it was certainly good enough and I would totally come back.

Yelp
First time here and everything was great. Food came out quickly, place wasn't too crowded and the bartender made great drinks.

Yelp
I went here for dinner one night with a few other people. One of them recommended the place because they used to go here a lot when they lived within walking distance. I liked the way it was decorated - very colorful, but a little run down (possibly on purpose), but the restaurant was quite small; I think we got the last empty table on a Wednesday night. I made note of the specials as I walked in. After I got inside, we ordered our food...eventually (service wasnt exactly the best). I got the crab tacos (one of their specials), and we each got an appetizer to share. Collectively, we got the guacamole, the queso dip and I forgot what the other one was - maybe more guac? We each got a margarita. Here's the thing about this place - the value for your money here is poor. Its the most expensive average (as opposed to premium) Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. I think the quantity of food is fair, it's just overpriced. A thing of guacamole with 4 chips is $8. I dont remember how much the Margarita was, but it was smaller than I was expecting. We ate all the free chips they gave us, and they brought more...eventually. One thing I did find odd was that my crab tacos cost about as much as tacos with beef or chicken. Let me be clear though - it was the beef or chicken tacos that cost as much as the crab ones, not the other way around. So yeah, that means that a plate of beef or chicken tacos is around $16. Overall, the food was good, and given the price of food, I was happy to get my money's worth by eating a premium meat (crab) for as much as I'd pay for ground beef. However, practically everything was overpriced. Considering there was nothing special about this place, I would not go back here for that reason.

Yelp
The only reason this isn't a 5 star is because the margarita was not really that good. Seemed a bit like a mix. Now to the great. The location is really great in Del Ray. If you go on a weekend be prepared to wait but there is a lot walk around and see. For me and my friend we waited less than 5 min because it was just two of us. Staff was great and shared the specials of the day. I had the chicken mole verde and was impressed with the whole dish including rice and beans. My friend had the trio enchiladas and loved it. The atmosphere was really nice. Will definitely come back for sure.

Yelp
This. Place. Is. Amazing. We continue to go back as often as possible. I highly recommend the tostada or the chorizo tacos! It's pretty tiny, so you may have to wait outside if you have a larger party. But, you can just grab a margarita from the bar while you wait! Highly recommend!!

Yelp
My husband and I came here at 7PM on Thursday night. It was packed inside. We had to wait for 15 minutes or so. It was okay. We were at the bar. We had a salsa. I love the salsa. Finally we got the table. But the waiter didn't come to take an order for 15 minutes. I know it was busy night but I was very hungry too. I wanted to eat the food. Finally the waiter came to our table to take an order. I had beef tostada. I love the dressing and a lot of lettuce. I love the food. I think it is pretty decent. But I was not happy about the service. This waiter did not even mention about today's special. I found out from the person who was look at the board at the entrance. It's an okay place
