18 Iconic Seattle Dive Bars

"Tucked on a quiet Queen Anne corner is this shaggy cave named after a Seattle longshoreman. Seattle’s Best Dive Bars | Eater Seattle

"This low-key Queen Anne dive is rumored to be one of the first bars that opened in Seattle after prohibition. Targy’s is a secret gem, tucked among apartment buildings and houses far away from the main drag." - Meg van Huygen

If I wrote this review a few months ago it would have been 5 stars - I love the environment at Targy's and I've been going there for a while. Sober is a great bartender and April does a good job hosting trivia. Love the pool tables and the fact they let you bring in food (Melania's nearby is our go-to). But their new bartender Lucas is the reason for the low review. We had a really bad experience with him and we basically aren't going back - there was some kind of miscommunication when we were closing out (we'd only had a drink each) and he got very defensive/passive aggressive. We tried to talk with him and he simply refused to communicate like an adult. When we tried to understand what he was angry about he escalated to yelling at us all to get out. We even stepped away and our most patient friend tried to go have a heart to heart with him to figure out what's going on, but he just acted like a complete jerk. No idea what happened, but it's made it really uncomfortable in the few times we've been back since. Won't be going back, sadly. Otherwise, a very nice spot tucked away in Queen Anne.

I really hate to have to write a review like this; about a bar I've been coming to probably around once a quarter for the past couple years, and have recently started coming to more often, to the tune of once a month as a little home away from home from my usual local dive bar in a nearby neighborhood, but felt obliged to say something about the experience I had the evening of May 15, 2025. I walked in around 11:30 PM with my buddy that I met during freshman year orientation in college back in Vermont in 2016. We've remained friends over the years and they recently moved to Seattle from Connecticut a few months ago. We had been to Targy's a few times since they moved out here, and had even been served by this particular bartender one of those nights. Never had any issues before. But not this night. The bartender spent around 30-40 seconds looking at my ID which is a WA state license I got around a year or two ago and then gave me the okay. The bartender took my buddy's CT ID (which might I add was issued less than a year ago) spent 30-40 seconds looking at that one as well, and then took it over to their book of ID images for comparison and discussed the ID with some locals at the bar. The bartender comes back and says "Unfortunately I can't serve you tonight" and in my view got slightly frustrated with me after I inquired about what we could do to prevent the situation from happening in the future; they really just wanted us out of the bar and to be done talking to us. Now listen, I get it, if working at a bar is your livelihood, and you serve someone underage, then working at a bar likely becomes a past livelihood. That being said, I clearly look around 25 (I'm currently 27) and likely slightly older with a little evening shadow. My buddy has a horizontal Real ID, good enough to get them on a domestic flight in this country. My buddy definitely looks closer to 21, but they're only a year younger than I. This situation raises a lot of questions for me: 1. Why did you serve my buddy and I a couple months ago? What changed since then? Does he look younger now? Maybe you just forgot our faces since you see a fair amount of customers on a daily basis. 2. Why would I, who clearly is around 25 based off looks be hanging out with someone underage that isn't my actual brother? Why would I take them to a dive bar in this neighborhood? Like if I wanted to drink with underage kids, I'd just go to Flowers (good riddance). There are plenty of other bars in this city where underage kids go to drink, and I've been around the area long enough to know where they are (and to avoid them for the garbage fires that they are). All this to say, if you're going to check your book for comparisons, maybe don't consult the locals that are probably two or three drinks deep at that point in the evening to ask what they think of a strangers ID. You're the bartender, you make the call. If you're going to check your book, maybe it should be one that's up to date. There's no way that my buddy's ID that they got 7 months ago should be an issue for a bar that's on top of this. And finally, if you really think that this is a bar that someone underage would try and get into on a regular basis, get a scanner. My friend with a horizontal Real ID should not have an issue with a nationally standard ID (additionally, out of the ten or so other bars in the area that we've been to before we've never had this issue). I'm frustrated that what was supposed to be an evening nightcap of one drink and game of pool with one of my closest friends to an otherwise good day had to end on such a sour note.

Google
Had a crap experience here. I'd had a targys shirt and they always put up birthday names on their signs so i thought what better time to check this spot than on my birthday wearing the targys shirt. So i come in, order a pint, and received possibly the most disgusting pint I've ever had served to me in seattle so far. It smelled bad, tasted rank, the glass was positively ancient, chipped and so marked i couldn't tell where the chips began and the spotty streaks ended. It must have come from the prohibition era, along with the last time those taps were cleaned. I did not want another pint nor any food since i was sick to my stomach so i paid for my pint and left. The vibes are cool, pool tables, etc but the drink was undrinkable.

Google
Super chill vibes in this legit and classic Queen Anne bar. Pool tables, dart boards, shuffle board, jukebox, 4 big TVs for sports, and even Pac-Man arcade table available to play! Bingo on Tuesday nights and trivia on Wednesday nights. Lots of locals and friendly bartenders too! 🍺🍺🍺

Google
Targy's is a gem. Neighborhood dive bar with plenty of character and plenty of characters. They've got great service, plenty of craft beers on tap, and every liquor bottle known to man. For entertainment there's also a couple of pool tables, dart boards and a jukebox. Everything you need right in your neighborhood.

Nina V

Google
It's a neighborhood tavern, and it's a place to get beer, or if you're alone and lonely to feel like you're among people. For my taste ‐ loud, loud, loud. I was there with four people and we were close together and I could barely here them for all the ruckus. One of my friend is a regular at this tavern, perhaps at 5pm it's not as loud as it was at eight. There was no music, and the place is not big, it's just people are loud.

David Blazek

Google
A good atmosphere dive bar. But, writing this because of the bartender. I went there on a Friday night with about 16 people. Yes, the place was busy, but the bartender was absolutely horrible. I did not get her name. Extremely rude to everyone of us. I am mid 50s and ordered from hundreds of bartenders in my life. Being busy is no excuse. We could not believe what a horrible hateful attitude she had. We all live in walking distance and will never ever go there again when she is working. A train wreck - worse rude service Ever.

Targys is a friendly neighborhood bar with great service. Had fun playing pool. I enjoyed the historic photos and advertisements decorating the walls.

Yelp
Listen. Then bartender (this was a year ago) was totally not into her shift that night and it was obvious; but you know what it was what it was. People have bad days and she could have been having one, she made a good whiskey rocks but don't ask for food lol. The bingo was entertaining as hell and this was actually the first night I hung out in person with the man I love so much. So all in all, I say go and have fun. It's a vibe!

Rene G.

Yelp
I loved the ambiance of the bar. The decor was great. It is the kind of place I would hang out in, if I were a barfly and lived in the neighborhood. The menu was limited to frozen items that were microwaved at the bar. I was not sure if that was very sanitary. Did not see bartender wash hands or put on gloves. There was one service person on duty. She somehow managed to keep up with the increasing crowd. Kudos to her.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem - I say hidden because every times I've been here, it hasn't been overpacked like every other Seattle bar I've been to. It's got a great casual vibe and the bartenders are so awesome - they're the type that remember your order and are attentive to everyone even though they're always running around busy doing something. Tuesday BINGO - This is what I LOVE coming to!! At 8 PM, they have Bingo for all - free to play, multiple around PRIZES (which range from $25 GC to Pringles!!!) I love how fun Kevin makes it - I feel like Bingo can be hard to host and to make entertaining but Kevin always makes it fun and enjoyable. He keeps everyone engaged and keeps things moving - never a down time except for break time. This is definitely not your grandmother's bingo! And is there ever a tie in Bingo? NO! Wednesday Trivia - They also have trivia on Wednesdays at 7 and April does a great job hosting that too. Again, free to play, 6 on a team, and prizes!! I love that Targy's has all these super fun events and free for everyone to enjoy. I mean, Tuesdays are slow night so what better way to spend it than to play Bingo and drink! So much fun, can always find street parking. The food is lacking here - boxed pizza, frozen pizza bites, frozen pretzels, etc. However, they allow you to bring food in and just enjoy their drinks. How awesome is that??

Yelp
If timeless dive bars are your jam, you will find this windowless joint located in two places: In the dictionary and in a nondescript building located in one of Seattle's priciest neighborhoods. This place is like the basement bar you always wanted to build in your home, except the bartenders are much cooler.

Yelp
Sober is one of the greatest people you can meet. He is honestly the description, of a perfect bartender. He is the most humble human. Come as a stranger leave as a friend is an understatement. This bar is number one in my book for this area

Silvano R.

Yelp
Just a great original Seattle bar with good people and a good vibe. Drinks are reasonably priced and Bingo on Tuesdays is a blast!

Yelp
I came in yesterday around 6:30 and the service was not great. We came in and ordered some drinks and a soft pretzel at the bar. Tried ordering more food too but we were told nothing was being served except pretzel and pizza. We then waited at our table for 35 minutes for the soft pretzel, but it never came. When I went to the bartender to ask how much longer, she said "when I get to it". And I said "oh, are you also the one making the food?" and she said "yes, I can refund you if you want". So, we did that and that was painless and quick. I understand that it was busy in there (there was a kraken game going on) and there was only one employee for probably 50 people in the place, but I don't understand why nothing was said to us about the food. It would be completely understandable to let us know that she was the only one there and the food would take a long time, or to let us know that she probably wouldn't be able to do any food. But, that did not happen and there was no hint of understanding that 35 min might be too long to wait for a soft pretzel.

Yelp
Nice hole in the wall in Queen Anne. Stays open late. If your hungry you will leave hungry. Regardless all good vibes in this joint

Yelp
Great place to hang out and have a drink. It's very low key and friendly. There is shuffleboard, pool and darts. Not sure but I think there are some snacks there as well. They have trivia and some other events the place can be kinda busy at times but it's fun and lively not packed and hostile. For sure will continue to visit when I need a a drink.

Owen L.

Yelp
Virgin vodka Red Bull was perfection. If you come hungry, you will leave hungry. Long line for pool, but that's why they call it Kings of Queen Anne. 3.8/6 rating.

Yelp
A classic old-school dive, surviving at least in part by virtue of having no competition whatsoever in hyper-expensive, yuppified upper Queen Ann. What a fun find! And such a relief on a hot, muggy August afternoon; an oasis of cold beer and working-class sanity in a gentrified desert. What's more, it's very clean and well-appointed. There are fun bits of memorabilia to peruse, pool tables and old video games, shuffleboard, bar-top video poker and a modern juke. The cave-like atmosphere makes it feel a little like the dinner-table blanket fort you made as a kid- a little hideaway, but with beer! Bingo on Tuesdays, trivia on Wednesdays, and happy hour 4-7 ($1 off most everything, $.50 off cans). Their t-shirts are cool! Service is good too; efficient, smart, attentive, pleasant, prompt, and informative. So why the missing star? No food to speak of, except prefab pizza and bags of chips and nuts. If they made a decent sandwich here...heck, they may not be able to get rid of me! But damn, I love that they're here, now, and I'm rooting for them to remain. Seattle needs to remember what it was, appreciate and enjoy its hard-edged, working-class heritage. If it doesn't, when this flavor-of-the-month boom passes by, it will have nothing culturally to fall back on. Support this local, and your mom-and-pop joints all around town. They're what will remain when the fluff gets blown away. Highly recommended!

Yelp
It's hard to give less than 4 stars to a place that employs a 1-armed bartender. Targy's is a fun dive bar. Nothing more, nothing less. Good drinks, inexpensive. Fun bartenders. Pool. Games playing on the TV. Music. Pool. If you picture a dive bar in your head, this is what you'll get. Fun fact: they have a Shotski. it's a ski with a few holes drilled in, and they place shot glasses in the holes. then you tip the ski and all drink together! food-wise, no surprise - crappy pizza and lots of bags of doritos, fritos etc available. perfect for after you've had a few drinks and are feeling snacky.

Yelp
Heard it was one of the few old school dive bars in Seattle. It must have been bro night. Bartender and guy at the door were solid. The crowd was loud and bro.
google avatar

Audrey W.

Yelp
One of my favorite dive bars in the Seattle area. It's smaller than most but even when it's packed it's not overwhelming. There are pool tables, shuffle board, and a music machine! Good prices and great atmosphere! What else could you ask for?
google avatar

Steve V.

Yelp
This is a great little neighborhood dive bar. I was here for Halloween and it was packed. It was a super rainy night and parking was easy on the street. Most everyone was dressed up and festive. There is one central bar in the middle that was hard to get a drink at during the peak time. There was a DJ and some good drunk dancing going on. We hung out mostly in the game area where we played darts. There was also a good group playing pool. The alcohol closet is right next to the dart board so we were bothered every now and then with the staff coming in and out of there. They were all friendly though so I didn't mind. Once it slowed down around 1, we sat at the bar and enjoyed some friendly conversation with some randoms (no SEATTLE FREEZE here). Great little spot!
google avatar

Lenny L.

Yelp
Targys is pretty rad.. it has everything you need.. cheap beer.. relaxing atmosphere.. pool..darts..baseball..but in some ways its a little bit too generic.. It's definitely no Streamline! By far the best dive bar in upper Queen Anne though!
google avatar

Josie C.

Yelp
My fave tucked -away neighborhood bar. Just what it is. Cheapish drinks and some reasonably yummy food. Friendly staff and clientele who'll chat with you without being over the top about it. Local institution that helps make Seattle... Seattle, i.e. twisty and studded with hidden gems.

Yelp
Came from out of town with some girlfriends friends to celebrate my last weekend before getting married. We were staying at a nearby airbnb and walked to the bar from our house. Immediately the bouncer was incredibly rude and seemed over the top irritated. I even asked him if he was having a bad night to which he answered no. Upon sitting up at the bar the bartender with purple hair was also annoyed beyond belief. It was pretty obvious that her and the bouncer were not a fan of our group right off the bat. A few of us started singing along to the music that was playing and the bartender immediately shushed us and told us we needed to be quiet because there was apartments that were above the bar...... this is a dive bar. Not a classy speakeasy!! It was laughable that she was shushing us in a BAR!! She was acting as if we were screaming to the words of the song like we were at a live concert!! She continued to shush us all night, constantly reminding us about the apartments above. It was obvious that the second we walked in that her and the bouncer weren't a fan of our group. We ended up leaving with our drinks unfinished because the tension she was giving off was painfully uncomfortable. Real shame for her and the bar. We were a group of 10 buying drinks and tipping and had 2 other parties of people buy us drinks to congratulate me on my upcoming marriage! Lost profits for the bar and tips for her. I'll never come back to this bar and would never recommend it to anyone.
google avatar

Heather l.

Yelp
Mike the bartender doesn't like nuts in his chocolate chip cookies... what is wrong with him?! Bingo night is a blast, go so I can win more money. Tip Mike in chocolate chip cookies full of nuts.
google avatar

Katy H.

Yelp
I am so in love with this bar. Move over Canon, you've got some stiff competition! Just to make it clear though, this is not a high end cocktail bar. In fact, it's totally the opposite. This is a serious dive. But in so many ways it's much better than that! It's one of the cleanest, friendliest bars I've ever set foot in. In addition to that, you'll find great people watching, a friendly bartender, pool tables, a juke box and every type of guy and gal from all walks of life. I can't say enough about this bar...just go there and see for yourself!
google avatar

Andrew E.

Yelp
Targy's didn't have a sign for the last 7 years. Seriously, you either knew about it or you didn't, like some speakeasy from back in the day. Quick story: I was sitting next to an 90 year old woman at a wedding and we got to talking about Queen Anne, and she started telling me about the heydays of Targy's from when she was a much younger woman. You could see the sparkle in her eye remembering romantic interludes and late night drinking. That about sums up Targy's. It had a heyday. I'm sure of it. Some would claim the pinnacle was Helmer Trestal's ownership over the last 10 years, when you were lucky to be allowed a beer and the clientele didn't own cell phones. A true drinking establishment.. Earlier this year, new ownership took over. They put up a sign. They cleaned up the smoke stained interior. Post softball game celebrations are popular. People even come here to.... God forbid... interact. They pulled back the tarnished layers of an institution, not knowing what to expect, and discovered that the soul remains. The people are still good people, that sort of non pretentious crowd that just wants to hang out. Younger, cell phone equipped, and more accustomed to micro brews than Rainier, this new breed of Targy's regulars could, I'm still convinced, reign in a new era for this great neighborhood tavern. If you ever want to stop by Targy's, drop me a line. I'll buy the first round. ****9/17/07**** Ah crap, serving liquor has brought all the Belltown elements that I was trying to avoid up to my local watering hole. Dudes were ordering cosmos, chicks were wearing halter tops, the juke box was playing 50 Cent. Crap crap crap crap crap.
google avatar

Becky W.

Yelp
A dive on Queen Anne hill? You bet! I knew it was up there, but hadn't stumbled in yet. Pool tables, a large centerpiece bar, lounging chairs and plenty of longtime regulars you can tell have been on those bar stools far longer than yuppie moms were dressing their kids in mismatched clothes and pushing utility strollers in their spandex pants on the surrounding streets. Eric, the bartender, knows the history of the joint and whips up a mean G&T in a friendly fashion. A refreshing alternative to, well, anything else!
google avatar

K S.

Yelp
You f*cked with the nut bar and now I'm pissed! Who doesn't enjoy some with their Jameson or beer(s). Come on! Now 50% of the alcohol absorbers are gone. No, I don't want Cheetos out of the new vending machine. Just bring it back, new owner... and the rope Targy's sign too.
google avatar

Megan R.

Yelp
So I walked by this place all the time. At first I just didn't realize it even WAS a place and once I realized it was a bar I was intrigued. I have to admit, I was a tad intimidated mostly because there are no windows and no sound or anything outside. I finally talked a friend into going with me on a Friday night. The second you open the door you are hit the loud music and lots of conversations. (Must have some pretty good insulation ha ha.) It was crowded but we managed to get a table in the back. 2$ Kokanees! My kinda place. The bartenders aren't super friendly to newbies it seems, but the regulars have an in with them. If you like to people watch this is the place. Alot of the crowd you wouldn't expect to see in this neighborhood bar. All in all a great place to grab a cheap beer and play pool, if you can get a table!
google avatar

Marisa B.

Yelp
Targy's is a no nonsense dive bar hidden in Upper Queen Anne where you would least expect a place like this to thrive. It is a bar in it's purest form, so much so that I think they only offer food for legal reasons. I love how every time I have been to Targy's there has been a non sequitur mix of patrons bellying up to the bar. Everyone from the way over dressed twenty somethings obviously pre-funking on their way to some "hip" new place on Capitol Hill, to the low-key regulars who probably sit in the same seat every time and (I hope) chuckle to themselves as the parade of the follies of youth pass them by. But they coexist in peace, because Targy's is just that sort of place.
google avatar

emily r.

Yelp
Look. I'm not going to beat around the bush here, or try to fluff up what I really want to say about this place. It's a shit hole with a full bar. The folks behind the bar do not pretend to like you. They have pool, electro-darts, and an internet jukebox. I can walk there, and crawl home. I love it.
google avatar

Aaron S.

Yelp
Stumbling upon Targy's is a Queen Anne rite of passage. Located on a corner off any of the neighborhood's main drags, the bar is proper, unpretentious dive.
google avatar

BennyLucy C.

Yelp
Targy's is a great little gem up on top of Queen Anne. Reasons to love Targy's: Awesome selection of draft beers, excellent cocktails, happy hour, bingo, trivia, great TV's to watch the games, pool, darts, cool regular crowd and Jason and Mara (their fantastic bartenders)!! Cheers!
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
I have been here a number of times since my arrival in the area back in December. I love this place. Simple, friendly, fun. I stopped by this past Saturday afternoon (8/11) and saw the strangest thing behind the bar: liquor! Bartender said they started serving the hard stuff on Thursday. Out of habit and respect for tradition, I stuck with beer, but my friend (first-timer to Targy's) ordered a martini. Gasp! Luckily, this offense did not go unnoticed, as another patron said, for all to hear, "I take my gin on the rocks!" Guess this is no longer a tavern, in the strictest sense. If you go the liquor route, might I recommend sticking to simply neat or rocks. Just seems appropriate.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Just finished up here! Good drinks, doesn't skimp on the alcohol, bartender was cool. Only downside was no kitchen, but ultimately I guess that was our bad for not realizing. Still totally worth it. Good dive bar atmosphere.
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
I'm a regular here. I was conceived in one of the booths back in the 60s. The bartenders are very nice especially Pat he's my favorite. The pool cues suck, need new tips. The water closets are well hydrated.
google avatar

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
The neighborhood tavern, just blocks from home. Love the history and location, but would like it to be more pub like with food and windows than a dark tavern. Lots of people I know love it though...
google avatar

Will L.

Yelp
I like a place with a seemingly limitless supply of paper coasters that I can zing like ninja stars at my friends while they laze around on comfy leather couches. I like a place that has dart boards. Especially when I win. I like a place with a billiards table, and folks playing who don't mind me crouching down in front of their shot and making funny faces. Ok, they did mind. But they didn't try to hit the ball hard enough that it would launch from the table and strike me in the nose. Maybe that's the part I liked. I like a place where I tell the bartender I'm driving and can I get a soda and all I got is a credit card and he doesn't charge me. I should have given him a particular flavor, though, as plain old soda water is just... kinda... gross. And finally, I like a place where when I'm driving over to it I'm like, "Where the fuck AM I?! This is a residential neighborhood, I must be lost!" And then I'm wrong because regardless of all the houses around there is a little pub sitting there. I probably wouldn't like it too much if I lived there and drunk loud people were coming out in the middle of the night to either a) fight or b) yell nonsense like drunken people tend to do.
google avatar

Yelp
It smelled like a bar. Actually, it smelled like a cross between a bar and an alcoholic that hasn't bathed in a week. It wasn't that permeating, but it was omnipresent. It was exactly how I felt it should smell. I am another of the seen/heard about it forever crowd, and last night was my first time. Happy hour is 4-7pm, and all I know is that they had $3 Maritime IPA on tap, which is an amazing beer. You also pay $4 for it at the actually brewery in Ballard. So it's cheap, it smells bad, and is also (technically) walking distance from my apartment... New favorite bar in Seattle. Yes. Oh, fyi - Bring quarters for pool.
google avatar

Gen B.

Yelp
We were in from out of town and looking for a low key bar. We found the perfect place here at Targys. This is a divy neighborhood bar, mostly filled with regulars. They have two pool tables, two electronic dart boards, and a small shuffle board table. And they had a decent beer selection with Longboard on tap.

Yelp
Holy shit.. No iPhone, not shut... SHIT. What a dive bar! This place is awesome. Cheap drinks, no food and some serious locals.. Sorry to bite you McDonalds but I'm lovin' it! Ba-da-da-da-drunk. Okay, for real.. Bartenders are slightly strange yet strangely efficient. Perfect. Clientele (and I use that word loosely out of respect for the, um, clientele) are friendly and engaging. All that and the ambiance is just right. This place feels like it was transplanted from the dive bar capital (and state capital, mind you) of Olympia. Come to think of it, why don't they serve Oly? I guess for the same reason I didn't give them five stars: because it's just not there.
google avatar

Gene D.

Yelp
Everything a dive bar (Queen Anne version, upper)/classic neighborhood bar should be- great drink value, pool tables, video games that I actually enjoyed and low key staff that are just right. Also, really enjoyed the photos from 30's-60's of Seattle. This place has been a bar since prohibition. Will be back soon!

Yelp
Something about a dive that gets me all warm and fuzzy inside. Targy's fits the bill for this. As soon as you walk in you get that damp, beer smell. The neon beer signs litter the windows, two dart boards, two pool tables, and jukebox just really round this place out. The actual bar itself is very large which helps get the crowd their drinks quicker. If you come here don't expect a high-end craft cocktail, rather get yourself a Coors light bottle and put yourself on the list for "next" on billiards!

Yelp
Love Targys! Great staff entertaining regulars! My favorite dive bar in Seattle! Love that you can have food delivered to you here due to their limited food! Bingo every Tuesday at 8:00 is always a good time!

Yelp
This great tavern practically makes me want to take up residence on a certain couple's front porch. I almost don't want to say too much because, well, let's just say twits need not apply. A group of 3 couples clearly coming straight from a wedding reception arrived around midnight and kind of ruined the low key vibe. But otherwise, this bar is perfection and exactly what you want to adopt as your new and only hang out. Well chilled brew poured with out foam in their pitchers. Plenty of water for help in sobering up after said brew is sucked down. Ridiculously friendly bartender who is very attentive to those at his bar. Regulars who make easy conversation with the faces they recognize, but don't look down on those that they don't. The most brilliant juke box mix ever that sent the game room into song and a special Journey tune that practically sent L and me to our knees. And darts, darts, beautiful darts. Dart arm malady (somehow nowhere mentioned on www.webmd.com, hmmm) will hit you 24 hours later, mind you, but if you're willing to suffer the health woes, I challenge you to a game of Cricket. Just watch out for fried chicken purse.

Yelp
Targy's is Queen Anne's only dive bar, and a fine one at that: * Cheap beer? Check. * Pool & Darts? Check. * HDTV & Internet Jukebox? Check. * Curmudgeony regulars? Check If you're looking for a scene, go back to Ballard or Cap Hill. If you and your friends are looking for a no-nonsense bar, give Targy's a shot.

Yelp
Growing up in the Midwest, Targy's reminds me of the taverns in Peoria, except they have microbrews instead of PBR (they do have Rainier, though, in addition to 6 other beers on tap). There isn't much to say about the decor, but they now have flat screen TV. So Targy is best appreciated as something simple. It does have its charm, but it is a small space, and I can see how a single obnoxious group could ruin the evening as mentioned in some of the other reviews. But last evening, it was a quiet group of older locals, and was a great way to spend a rainy winter evening.

Yelp
Obviously, my favorite bar in my hood. I'm almost ashamed to be the duchess, but eff it, i freaking love Targy's. Jason is the bomb. So are the rest of the bar staff. Always on me when I need another drink, always playing the games I want to watch (well, everyone wants to watch the Seahawks, AMIRITE?) Won't break the bank, you can crawl home. Only bad thing: no food service. Sure they have salty nuts (uh huh huh huh) and ZAW pizza, but, yeah. eat before you come.

Yelp
Good neighborhood bar, great prices. Best part is, walking distance. Sunday is Happy hour all day! Pool table and Buck Hunter always the latest sports-ball on the TV

Yelp
One of our favorite bars for beer, pool and darts when we're in Seattle! Best thing is that it's just a short walk or Uber away from where we usually stay!

Yelp
Really nice neighborhood spot in west queen anne. One of the last true watering holes in the area which has frankly gotten a little out of hand. Its not super cheap like a typical dive bar but the rent must be through the roof. The delicious $7 Stellas they have on draft once prompted me to rekindle my relationship with my father.

Yelp
Our new local...how did we take so long? Dive bars are notorious for making you feel as unwelcome as possible but Targy's was brilliant. Tom is a genius bartender with some serious memory skills. Even though he's running the busy show solo, he's exceptionally kind and quick. The back counter pizza both confuses me and tempts me...

Yelp
I come here roughly once a month when my friends get together for trivia. I enjoy a damn good dive bar and it is that all the way around. Service is friendly and chill. The amazing woman that runs trivia is entertaining and quite great at creating interesting trivia questions that are challenging and fun. You can tell this place has been around for a long time. It has a great vibe and there's pool. No food so make this your place to cool off with a cold one.

Yelp
This business has not been here as it is for 80 years. I'm sure there was a bar around here since the 1930's, but it never had a sign before 2007 to my memory and it was a very different place. If there was a bar around here, it wasn't this one. This address has been only occupied by a bar since around the 1970's, but it was a quiet beer bar with no liquor license. The current loud, obnoxious version of Targy's in this space emerged around 2007 with a change in owners. Now it caters to drunks and hipsters who play loud music in their cars outside, peel out, talk loudly, fight, break things in the neighborhood, leave trash...not people you want coming to where you live (I live near here and have for a very long time). Targy's isn't some landmark, it's a former beer bar that's been turned into a very profitable business by a millionaire, and the neighborhood has had to pay the price. I'm sad about what it's become. I kinda blame yelp...this place was cool before yelp.
