I told the drink bar staff that the drink I ordered was wrong, but they didn’t even seem apologetic. They just said, “Oh, it’s not written here, so I didn’t know. Then I’ll pour out half the coffee and add water for you.” I was stunned, thinking, “Wait, am I the only one who finds this strange?” And then they actually took the drink, poured out half of it, and added water and ice before giving it back to me.
Even though I’m not an expert on coffee, I know that if you tamper with a finished drink like that—just eyeballing it and adding water—the quality is going to drop. As a professional, they should know that even better than I do.
It was their mistake, yet the customer ends up being the one who suffers. I felt like I’d be sick just drinking what felt like a semi-used, secondhand beverage, so I ended up asking for a new one. But even when receiving the replacement, I felt bad for the cashier—as if I were the one causing trouble, even though it wasn’t my fault.
I had planned to order a drink first and then choose some pastries, but I just lost my appetite. I didn’t get to try any of their popular menu items, which was unfortunate.
