The Best Places to Eat in Seoul, According to a Local Chef - AFAR

"The Seoul outpost brings an authentic San Francisco–style bakery experience to Hannam-dong, importing flours to match the originals while also incorporating Korean ingredients to suit local tastes. It’s widely regarded for excellent breads and croissants—especially sourdough country bread served with a spiced apple butter—and played a major role in changing Koreans’ perception of American artisanal baking." - Hyunhee Lee

The 12 Best New Restaurants in Seoul, South Korea | Eater

"The first international outpost of San Francisco’s famed Tartine Bakery is now open for business. If you can brave the lines, you’ll find Tartine’s famous country bread, banana tart, and other staples all baked using chef Chad Robertson’s original recipe. (For the first few weeks, he is in Seoul baking them himself.) Warning: Bread and pastries have been selling out well early. (*Map point approximate)" - Matty Kim

This establishment is nice and I love the fresh bread. I had the raspberry lemon tart and my taste buds were Pleased. It is spacious and clean and a great place to get some work done. My 3 stars is due to service...how dry and bland they were, I'm from New York and Korea has been a breathe of fresh air when it come to customer service so If i say it was dry...

I told the drink bar staff that the drink I ordered was wrong, but they didn’t even seem apologetic. They just said, “Oh, it’s not written here, so I didn’t know. Then I’ll pour out half the coffee and add water for you.” I was stunned, thinking, “Wait, am I the only one who finds this strange?” And then they actually took the drink, poured out half of it, and added water and ice before giving it back to me. Even though I’m not an expert on coffee, I know that if you tamper with a finished drink like that—just eyeballing it and adding water—the quality is going to drop. As a professional, they should know that even better than I do. It was their mistake, yet the customer ends up being the one who suffers. I felt like I’d be sick just drinking what felt like a semi-used, secondhand beverage, so I ended up asking for a new one. But even when receiving the replacement, I felt bad for the cashier—as if I were the one causing trouble, even though it wasn’t my fault. I had planned to order a drink first and then choose some pastries, but I just lost my appetite. I didn’t get to try any of their popular menu items, which was unfortunate.

Incredible bread - crusty on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Possibly one of the best almond croissants around too. Bit pricey.

There are tons of sub par bakeries in Seoul with super sugary, over processed, cream filled sorry excuses for bread. Tartine is an oasis in this sea of terrible bread. By far some of the best sourdough in the country. The croissants are wonderfully flaky, fresh and perfectly tender inside. It makes my mouth water to even think of it now. The breakfast sandwich is basic, but freshly made with excellent ingredients and flavorful. The space itself is open, airy, and full of natural light. There are a few communal seating areas as well as tables. The coffee is coffee, nothing too special, but then again, it’s a bakery and not a cafe. The products are excellent and you will absolutely pay a premium for them, a price that is honestly worth it. Best time to go is early on a weekend morning when you can chill out when it’s still mostly empty and look into the open kitchen as the courteous staff prepares food for the day. Good products, good service, high prices, but worth it.

Spacious and comfortable cafe. I stayed for just under 3 hours to read my book and ordered two drinks (Caffè latte and an Earl Grey tea). I'd recommend coming early as this cafe does get quite busy after 12.

Omg, one of the best (& my fav) San Francisco bakeries in the heart of Seoul??? 😃 I loved that they had the Tartine’s signature item (and my fav) banana cream pie, in an individual size! (I kinda ate the whole thing in one sitting 😁), and a real San Francisco sourdough bread, made me so happy and feel a little homesick... 😢 The bakery is beautifully done, and was super busy.

Quite expensive. I graded the experimental try of "Hannam " bread high but too hard to chew. If the store is near me, I try to various breads. The pineapple Hibiscus drink was so great!Sweet!

Pure robbery: they decreased the size of soups which has become so small, while increasing the price and making you PAY for the bread that used to be in the menu. And the wait is long. This is the LAST time I ever set one foot in a Tartine bakery. There is enough competition here to boycott this one.
