Speedy service and good attitudes. Decided to drive out to the 100’s since the one on Stoney Island was crashed into and never reopened 🙁 Tastes like I remember!! Smell the same too!

Just as good as I remember from the old days!!! I go back to when they were located in the Rosenwald bldg on 47th street. Nothing beats the original. The place on 83rd is a pale comparison. They are imitators. Settle for nothing less than the best!!!

Honestly, I only went here because Home of the Hoagy made a bad business decision to shut down for a month. The line was long when I arrived but moved really fast. Once I placed my order, my food was ready in about 5 minutes. That was impressive! The fries were ok and the Hoagie was ok. Not the best I've had but definitely not the worst.

This place is OVER RATED !!, Really hit or miss ,nothing compared to Stony Island!! Has No flavor !!Ordered 2 large hoagies, NOT FRESH AT ALL !!!MEAT WAS OLD BREAD OLD wrinkled expired and rubbery!! Sandwiches were slapped together with thick slices of meat and drowned with oil,each had 1 slices of tomato,no oregano!! One was room temperature,the other extremely cold pre made pulled out of fridge and drowned with oil and peppers!

The wait can be long, but it's worth it.

For $10 (including tax) I got a double Supreme Steak combo (sandwich and small fry for $6.75) and a small hoagie and chips (the Wednesday special $3.25). The steak sandwich and fries are covered in a sweet sauce that was good, but overpowered the steak. The hoagie was excellent and can't be beat for the price. I enjoyed my lunch, but wouldn't travel there unless I was in the area. Also it's cash only and there was a bit of a line at 2p. For an inexpensive lunch it's hard to beat.

This place has been open my whole life basically. And I’m 27 😭 EVERYTIME I come here, they have the upmost respect and excellence customer service. Still super tasty after 10plus years!!!

Everything came fresh and flavorful. The price was pretty good as well, I think it was $9.99 or something like that. My coworker ordered so I gave her $11. I can't speak on service since I didn't pick it up myself but we did receive our food within a half hour so that was convenient. The only downside was the break. I like the regular French bread better (I like it on the soggy side lol) but it was very good nonetheless and I would order it again. I also can't speak on how it looked since I didn't go pick it up.

Not many left making these old school tastes so a must to try. Never had an issue with politeness of workers. But, could up their standards on hygiene and cleanliness. Many more would probably try amd advertise in this age of social media madness

I love the steak sandwich with sweet and hot peppers! The staff is friendly. Its a great neighborhood Vibe

All the sandwiches are good here. The place is located right on the corner of the street. Their is plenty of parking, they have a private parking lot. The only down side is the restaurant it is small and it's hard to social distance here. Everyone had on masks though as it is required. I waited outside alittle bit but it was kind of cold out. I was in line about 15 mins before I was able to order. Then another 10 mins waiting on my food. They don't accept call ins. And it's CASH ONLY! If you can go early and not on the weekend I would just that! The sandwich is worth the wait though. I got the 12 inch hoagie. It's turkey based meat. I wish they had these in Georgia. Good food places always do well in big cities.

Really, really good sandwiches however, they do skimp alittle on the toppings so make sure to ask for "extra" of your favorite topping. Other than that the sandwiches are delicious.

Came Thursday night claim they didnt have fries and no ice cream an no shakes no white meat what kind of restaurant is this they didnt want to give me my receipt he had to re ring everything again rude customer service

Hell no! I grew up on Taurus on Stony Island! It's a South side historical landmark for me. In recent weeks a car accident damage this location and I went to try a secondary location. This was a mistake!!! Not the same!! The Steak sandwich was lacking a lot... OK let me break it down ,the hoagie rolls split from the top almost like a lobster roll. the steak taste artificial it was very few of it too,lastly the so call steak sandwich was missing the cheese (some cheese but not much)and pickled tomatoes in which I love! This steak in plain English was very bootleg! The hoagie was better but still a little soulless.. this spot is a definitely no!!!

I WILL NEVER, EVER EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN! If there were - 0 stars to give, I would! I'm only giving 1 star, because this review is making me do it! I went there today, and The whole bottom portion bread, WAS MISSING FROM MY SANDWICH, and I promise you, the small hoagy was about 2 inches long! This was a disgrace! Why would you serve a customer something like that?! And the guy that waited on me was very rude, because I didn't understand how the pricing of the combos were set up! If my review changes the mind of ONE PERSON, and they not eat there, I would be satisfied with that! RIDICULOUS SERVICE, RIDICULOUS FOOD! I will take my business somewhere else! Preferably Cozi's Sandwiches, which is also in DOLTON! Work on showing your appreciation for your overall customers! Worse ever!

If I could give a TRIPLE NEGATIVE I would!!!... This is the 2nd location, where trying to do business with is like PULL FREAKIN TEETH!!! UN-FREAKIN-BELIEVEABLE!!... People should not have to BEG you to take their money!... Bears season is starting Sunday so we planned on getting some catering done at this location. I decided to call (2) days in advance to place the order; trying to get ahead of the curve. THESE muthaf@#! can't answer the freakin phone. I checked what time I was calling because the phone rang-and rang-and rang.... It's approximately 1:15pm!!!!... I'm thinking, "Okay, the lunch rush should be done.... but maybe not".... "I'll try again later". 2:30pm comes around. I call. Ring-Ring-Ring-Ring-Ring-Ring-Ring-RING. "CLICK"..... SILENCE...... I say, "Hello..... Hello... HEELLL----OOOO" 4-DAMN-TIMES. Nothing.... I hang up. Wait and then call back, NOW THE LINE IS BUSY!!.... WTF!!!.. Here he we go AGAIN with the f@#! games....!.... I told my wife I'm done!!!..... NOBODY'S FOOD IS THAT GOOD!... I'm done kid!. I probably should have known better. We tried going to the Stoney Island location last year and they act like the phone is going to give them a damn ear infection!!... Nobody answered the freakin phone and I called numerous times!!!... We drove past them about 20 minutes later and not only are they OPEN, they aren't even packed, they sometimes usually are!... We ended up getting some jerk chicken dinners down the street. At least they treat us with some respect and at least want customer's money!. Oh well.... I'll continue to be happy for others whom continue to patronize these people, but I'm good with giving them anymore time and energy. Bottom line, good luck Chuck! "No" service so damn bad you don't even deserve a salutation......

This is a place that is a crapshoot. You don't know what to expect. This is a walk up CASH ONLY restaurant. You place your order and wait. If this place gets crazy busy, I can see where waiting inside would get problematic. The guy on the other side of the is straight forward. You order what you want off of the limited menu. Kinda like dealing with the soup nazi. Not knowing what to expect, I ordered the large steak sandwich combo. Removing the items from the bag, there is a red sauce oozing from the tin foiled sandwich and fries. I Can't say that I have ever experienced a steak sandwich like this. It is finely chopped steak'em like meat mixed with a soupy green pepper onion sauce similar to that of the New York Red onion sauce for a hotdog. By the time you are done eating, a shower is in order. The fries were shoe string style and bathing in the aforementioned red sauce. Jury is still out on a return trip.

It's been years since I had this place and so when I came in town I made sure to stop by. It tasted just like the old days definitely coming here every time I visit. The dudes are quick and the food fresh. Its cash only so make sure to bring some. But definitely worth the drive.

The steak subs are good and their the only reason why I continue to come. The service or lack of is horrible. I listened to the worker's have A 5 minute conversation in Spanish before they even acknowledge me or their other black patrons in line. This shit is very frustrating you come in our neighborhood to make your money but can't even treat us with the respect by taking our orders in A timely professional manner. I don't know how the other hairs flavors are but I highly recommend avoiding the one in dolton.

So pissed I drove all the way from the city to eat at this unsanitary place. How can you mess up an order after I repeated it 5 times, because I knew he wasn't listening. I was charged for extra sauce, which wasn't a problem only to get all the way back home and my food is messed up. Also, how is it possible to work that long around food and not clean your hands at some point. The worst feeling is going out on a cold night to get some food and it's messed up. Will never go back again.

They have a phone, but don't answer. I like to call ahead and have my food ready to get there, but they never answer the phone so I go to spots who will answer. Anyway, I call today, as usual, no answer. But I want a steak sandwich anyway so I go in. Not too busy so I'm in and out in about five minutes. But what I did do while I was there, I called their phone, just to see what happens. So the phone rang(a cordless phone), the dude picked it up, and walked around with it, WHILE IT WAS STILL RINGING!!! He eventually hung it up. Never answered. Now I know what happens when you call. Would have given four stars for price but they lose two for wasting mine and everyone's time by not answering.

Love there food and there specials! Defiantly a hit i enjoy it every time but its very very messy!!! Still a hit in my book!!!

Today 6/19/2020 I decided to stop in Dolton, Illinois to get me a Steak Sandwich and a Turkey Hoagie traveling all the way from Indiana got home and my steak sandwich was all bread no meat my turkey hoagie was dry no oil no tomatoes and probably a couple of onion I spent 22.00 and sum change on that garbage shame on me if I patronize them again never experience anything so horrible from this place or 112th Michigan or 84th Stoney Island Ave I been eating at Taurus since the 70's also they will not answer the phone so don't do it changed since the Pandemic taking my loot somewhere else don't play with my Food.

Great sandwiches Taurus has had my heart stomach and pocket for years! The competition is good but the wait is so long it's ridiculous. I either orders regular hoagie no onion extra oil or a double meat steak sweet yum.......Always the best!

Food is blah. Parking lot full of panhandlers. Can't park or get out your car to buy food before they're approaching you.

I ordered 3 trays of subs for a party. They were GREAT! The sandwiches were made with fresh ingredients and seasoned perfectly. The bread was so good, it held the sandwich meats and condiments together perfectly, did not get soggy from dressing and veggies. The people are very friendly. I'll buy from here again.

They're ok. Not like the stoney island location. Good substitution for the real thing for us South Suburbans. Only if you can't get to the city and have a taste for it.

Cheap prices!! Excellent food!! Tasted fresh and delicious. The smells are worth the drive.

I got a steak combo it was very good but the wait was so long I almost left but I got to purchase some DVDs

Love the Hoagies! They sell them in full and half size pans already cut up. They are always a hit at parties. Not to mention the reasonable prices and no where near the lines or wait as the one on Stoney Island.
