"This San Marco landmark for more than a decade has a small but mighty brunch menu with dishes like lemon-ricotta pancakes and poached eggs with Serrano ham and truffles. Assorted pastries, which are served with house-made jam and honey-butter are a nice addition for the table to share. The small restaurant does encourage all guests to make reservations since seating is fairly limited." - Megan duBois

"Taverna is best known for its homemade pastas, pizzas, and large assortment of small plates. Scoring a table on the always in demand patio can be hard at times, so make sure to book ahead with the restaurant. And do not leave Taverna without trying their burrata and prosciutto pizza, which is topped with fig, arugula, and truffle." - Megan duBois

Absolutely fantastic experience at Taverna! The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Every dish we ordered was incredible—from the rich, comforting ravioli with shrimp in a dreamy creamy sauce, everything was cooked to perfection and the chef special rib eye with mash potatoes. .You can really taste the quality and care in each bite. This place is a gem in San Marco for anyone craving authentic Italian cuisine with great vibes. Can’t wait to come back!

This is absolutely one special place! Bradley was our server and just knocked it out of the ball park. It was our first time dining at Taverna and we asked Bradley to set us up with the top recommended dishes for the 5 of us. Everything was just perfect and the Chef is extremely talented! When you let a Chef do his thing by working with his staff and going “off script” to showcase their talents as a team, you end up with a purely curated, customized and personal experience like the one we had. Our table shared every plate family style which allowed all of us to sample more from the menu and by the time we were finished, we all had a full four-course meal! Very highly recommend and let them wow you. We will be back! Cheers y’all

We had dinner at Taverna and it was amazing! Our waiter Kris (the Asian gentleman) was absolutely awesome—so kind, funny, and welcoming. He made everything easy and comfortable, explained the menu perfectly, and made our dining experience truly enjoyable. His service added a special touch to our night. Highly recommend!

Google
A few people told me to try Taverna,; yesterday I did. The restaurant is smaller than I expected but looked clean there were no seats available so we sat at the bar. Cocktails were okay, I got a whiskey sour and an old fashion. The food we had was mediocre at best with hardly any seasoning. Service was decent, I may give them another try in the future but won't go out of my way. Give them 3 stars at best for service and drinks.

Google
The food was excellent, as was the service. I had the Ravioli and Chocolate Cake, while the hubs got the Spag & Meatballs, mixed berry sorbet and a double shot of espresso. From the first bite to the last, it was wonderful.

Google
Great menu in a nice setting. Service was excellent. The location sits amid an assortment of shops. The bolognese was full of rich flavors. The Sicilian seafood stew was a standout, with loads of seafood (add scallops or pasta for an even heartier and tasty experience). The charcuterie board allows for 5 selections from an assortment of 10, with additional monthly options.

Google
So this is our 3rd to 4th time here, and we are huge fans of the risotto, the fettuccine Alfredo pasta, and the fungi pizza. The Alfredo was dry, wasn’t saucy. Today we did try the braised short rib and it was absolutely dry and we had the scallop with risotto, and the risotto was undercooked ! The service was slow after receiving our appetizer. It took a while for the entrée to come out. It really sucks because this is one of our favorite spots in San Marco. They weren’t busy at all, it was pretty slow so I didn’t understand why our experience wasn’t up to par.

Google
We tried Spaghetti, Ravioli, and Marinated Olives. The food was delicious specially the Spaghetti pasta! It was the best I’ve ever had. But they can make the service better it was very slow even though they were not busy.

Yelp
This is definitely going to be our new go-to Italian spot in Jacksonville! It's located in the quaint and historical San Marco area. The moment we stepped in the front door, we were pleasantly greeted and seated immediately. We decided to order the Margarita Pizza and Fettuccine. Our sever was extremely accommodating by allowing us to switch the red sauce on the Fettuccine to white. I have to say- that it was BEST pasta and sauce I've ever tasted!!!! Absolutely DELICIOUS!!!!!! The pizza was also AMAZING! The crust was light and crispy- with the perfect amount of cheese and sauce. I can not rave enough about the entire experience!!! We are looking forward to our next visit!!!

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Taverna in San Marco, and I must say, it was quite an experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was busy and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a delightful evening. One of the standout dishes of the night was the short rib, and let me tell you, it was absolutely extraordinary. The short rib was elegantly presented, and the meat was incredibly tender, practically melting in my mouth with every bite. It's no exaggeration to say that it quickly became one of my favorite meals in San Marco. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, and each bite was a true delight. While the service at Taverna was a bit busy and at times seemed a bit discombobulated, the quality of the food more than made up for it. The staff was friendly and accommodating, despite the bustling atmosphere. The wait for the food was worth it, as every dish that arrived at our table was fantastic. Overall, my experience at Taverna was exceptional, thanks in large part to the unforgettable short rib dish. If you find yourself in San Marco and craving a delicious meal, be sure to make a reservation at Taverna. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Taverna is one of those places where it's hard to decide on what you want because everything sounds so good. A split level dining room with a bar on the side had a very modern trendy appeal. Plus our toddler liked the fact that he could see them cooking pizzas in the oven. Service was very good. Prompt and friendly. Honestly, I just wish they had delivered our entrees as ordered. Both were far more rare than they should have been based on our order. I know, I know..."just send it back". But I just can't. It seemed like a place where you could do that and not worry about issues from the kitchen but as all parents do we had a limited time based on the attention span of the kids. So we just decided to deal with it. The taste of the food was good and the inaccurate temperature is the only thing holding Taverna back from a 5th star. We will for sure be going back to give it another try.

Yelp
I live walking distance to Taverna, so go a decent amount. Meals are usually really good, but I do feel like meals are inconsistent. I've ordered the same meal 3-4 times and it's tasted different each night. One of my go-tos even with the inconsistency!

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
Great spot for brunch. Rec making a reservation ahead of time. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was 10/10, huge portions. Even the chairs were super comfy. My only complaint would be the restroom didn't have a hook for my purse. Definitely recommend and I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Made a booth reservation for 1145a through their website. We were seated promptly and greeted shortly after by Kayla. She was super sweet, personable, knowledgeable of the entire menu & very attentive. We asked for her favorites and she excitedly recommended a few from each category. I ended up ordering the Steak Frites with Truffle Fries and it was cooked PERFECTLY. I ate it all. Oops! We also ordered Vanilla Crème Brûlée ... omg just do it. Heavenly! Love the decor of the restaurant and the restrooms were clean & orderly. Only thing to watch out for is parking in the area. It can be crowded, especially if there's an event in San Marco Square.

Yelp
Nestled in San Marco, Taverna has a variety of comfort foods that pair well with the inviting atmosphere. The service is always quick and the servers are very friendly. I have been multiple times and plan on attending again.

Yelp
First time trying Taverna out. After hearing so many great things I had to try it. Everyone was right!! EXCELLENT!! We ordered Brussels sprouts and Burrata caprese as an appetizer. For the main course I went with the house made ravioli, add shrimp for an additional charge. Great flavors! Dessert was amazing we got overly excited for the chocolate mousse cake and took a bit before the picture, then I ordered their evening special of butterscotch pudding, and I cleaned the whole bowl. To top off dessert I ordered a pistachio espresso martini and it was delicious but not too sweet. Staff was friendly and quick to help suggest meals and drinks. Lighting is low but sets the mood perf for a date night.

Tyler T.

Yelp
The food was fantastic and very flavorful. It came out hot and in a timely Manner. The service was amazing. He made sure we had everything we needed before the meal came, kept up with refills, and was super friendly. It was very busy and a little crowded with how they do their seating (long booth with strangers sitting closely together) but the couple next to us was very friendly. Would go back again just for the Brussel sprouts and service!

Rich H.

Yelp
For lunch, we stopped at Taverna in the San Marco neighborhood. I got the appetizer portion of sautéed mussels and clams and added spaghetti. The mussels and clams were sautéed with smoked onions and leeks, sun dried tomatoes, white wine, all swimming in a roasted garlic mascarpone cream sauce. It was a good thing I got the appetizer portion because this was a ton of food. And so good. I devoured through the bivalves and made it through about half the pasta before tapping out. Which is a good thing because I was about to turn that bowl up and drink the rest of that sauce.

Devin S.

Yelp
Place was okay. A bit overhyped. My first time there I had the garlic shrimp starter which was below average. The pizza was pretty good. The Alfredo was average. I feel like if this place was in a bigger city it would not have stayed in business. Feel disappointed because I paid for a meal/ experience that was 2-3 times more than what I felt like it was worth.

Anthony G.

Yelp
Great ambiance!!! Very lively and classy! An awesome date night spot or for business! Clean and great staff. The reason the place doesn't get a 5 star is because the food is good but not mind blowing! Let's talk about it - My dish was the best- Sicilian seafood stew- absolutely delicious Charcuterie board- was one of the best we have tasted Our other 2 dishes were not good- lack of flavor and protein. Fettuccine with shrimp bombed

Cherie R.

Yelp
Excellent, elevated food in Jacksonville! I love the street it's on - lots of restaurants and shops. We sat outside, the ambiance inside is lovely - but we wanted to take advantage of the nice weather! Our waitress was very nice and informative, we didn't feel like we were waiting for too long before the food arrived either. We didn't get any drinks, we were a little bummed with their short beer menu, it's more cocktail/wine vibes, which makes sense. We started off with a herbed ricotta and fig appetizer with fresh bread - it was delicious! We also got the parmesan truffle fries (big serving), that came with an aioli, I'm still dreaming of those fries! So good. My friend got the steak frites, which came with even more fries (a great idea haha). I got the salmon with crispy skin and mushroom ravioli - it was incredible!! The pea + truffle cream sauce was delicious and everything really paired well together. This is a great spot for a fancy dinner/date night!

Yelp
We came just for drinks with friends, so can't speak for their food. But. Husband ordered an Angel's Envy neat and an Old Fashioned with Angel's Envy. When we got our check (pictured), we saw a charge for a $38 drink! After asking a bartender, they explained it was because the Old Fashion is a double pour, but they were very apologetic about the price (indicating they knew it was ridiculous). We weren't told beforehand (or saw a menu) and my husband said it wasn't that great of an OF, but if it's truly a double pour, that's fine! Except that based on the price of a single Angel's Envy, a double would be $24 - not $38. Meaning they charged $14 extra for bitters and an orange peel?! We had Taverna on our list of restaurants to try, but if they think a mediocre OF is worth almost $40, I can't imagine what they think their food is worth (vs what they actually deliver). With the growing number of restaurants in San Marco, I don't seen any reason we'd come back here. :\

Yelp
After my sister made a totally incompetent and borderline abusive recommendation to sit outside on a 100°F day, and we ordered a hot pizza and meatballs of all things, which were SCRUMPTIOUS by the way, Shemarra was gracious enough to move us inside into the nice, cool air conditioning which Jesus himself would've chosen. She was so friendly and helpful and blah blah blah I'm tired of writing this review because I stopped doing reviews like ten years ago but long story short this place is great and Shemarra is awesome

Beth S.

Yelp
I was in town for an evening so my friends and I went to dinner here. We sat on the outside front patio which was super cute and wasn't crowded by people waking by. It even gave us the opportunity for us to see a rainbow. We started with the parmesan truffle fries which were crispy and well seasoned. My drink, the sour, was really good so whiskey drinkers order it! I got the smaller portion of the scallops which is 3 instead of 5 and I wish I'd gotten the 5 because it was delicious. The butternut squash and mushroom risotto was super earthy and flavorful. When we were done eating we asked for a dessert drinks menu. If you're a drinker, save some space because our drinks were well balanced and the perfect way to end the evening. I got a pumpkin and bourbon drink and would recommend. Definitely a good date or friend date spot.

Mechelle C.

Yelp
Located in San March, parking is what it is. The wait time was a few minutes, even with reservations, but it was worth it! I ordered the scallops. They were cooked to perfection. Deliciously seasoned on top of a mushroom risotto.( only issue was a little crunchy on the risotto- ), but delicious. The ambiance is casual and we sat at a booth beside the bar. Would certainly recommend.

Yelp
I can't seem to get enough of this place! We have visited here for dinner often, but I have been salivating for a chance to get my taste buds on their brunch menu. Y'all it did not disappoint! My food was so good if I was at home I would have been licking the plate. Husband had omelette, we were both so hungry that we scarfed our food down super fast, before pictures were taken. Outside dining is available and the weather is getting to that perfect temperature! Our server Savannah was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu!

Jenne B.

Yelp
The food was very very good. Our waiter helped us with our charcuterie board selections and a wine pairing. We ordered a simple chicken salad sandwich for lunch which didn't taste simple at all. The restaurant is pretty and comfortable and that little area is fun to shop. We will go back when we visit Jacksonville again.

Jan B.

Yelp
Started with a cabernet franc which was lovely. Had some sexy pèque oysters which were delicate and sweet. 3 sauces cocktail, mignette and kimchi. My favorite kimchi and hub liked cocktail. Next beef carpaccio - oh so perfectly yummy. Only issue was large slices of red onion - shallot would be better suited. The garlic chips added a nice touch as did all the other condiments with. Next lobster burratta salad - good size chunks of poached lobster, burratta ans marinated beets, arugula and mandarins. With a basil oil sauce. Delicious combo. Lobster could have bit of seasoning. Lastly had the miso sea bass. Yummy. Perfectly cooked and slurpable sauce. Beautiful clean decor. Nice bar. Only issue is metal chairs- not comfortable. Service was excellent - I would definitely ask for Peter again. Dessert was affogato! Yum

Yelp
I enjoyed my dinner with friends here at Taverna! The wait-staff were friendly, however they were very slow, unfortunately. We were waiting for our dinner to come out for about a little over an hour. I ordered the summer sangria to drink and really liked it. It was refreshing! The burrata caprese was good as well. A suggestion to try for them would to have crostinis instead of toast. The Parmesan truffle fries were as you would expect- yummy- but the waitress really hyped it up and made it seem like they were extraordinary and I can't say that I agree with that sentiment. The Caesar salad was good, a little fishy due to the anchovy, and smaller than I expected for a large Caesar salad. Overall, my impression is that the price is high for small portions.

Sam T.

Yelp
We had a very good meal here on a crowded Saturday night, with desserts and drinks being the highlights. Starting off, my husband thought the cosmos were great, and I found the Negroni to be very well made. His steak and fries entree featured a steak that was cooked to his ordered temperature with a good outer sear and tasty fries. My entree of ravioli was decent, but the texture of the sauce was soupy rather than saucy and tasted a bit like a "generic" squash soup. The pepitas were a great addition, though! I also got a Caesar salad (which, fyi, does come with an anchovy) and thought the dressing in particular was excellent. The bigger disappointment was the Brussels sprouts appetizer. They were a little soggy, and the flavors didn't mesh too well -- it almost felt like too much was happening on the plate. The big star was a delicious pear and cranberry dessert that came in a HUGE serving by my standards. It was perfectly seated, nice and toasty, and had great ice cream slowly melting on top. Yum! My husband thoroughly enjoyed his chipwich, too. The service was friendly, but the pacing was pretty inconsistent. We got our appetizer within a couple minutes of ordering -- even before our drinks -- and then had a long wait between that and entrees. There were definitely times we were ready to order another drink and had to wait awhile to do so. However, it was -- as mentioned -- a packed Saturday night, so I understand things can get overwhelmed easily. We'll definitely be back.

Viktoriya M.

Yelp
No matter what you do, don't order avocado toast for brunch. It was super thin layer of avocado spread placed mostly in the middle of the toast. Toast was fried in oil. It was also accompanied with a pile of greens smothered with oil of unknown origin. Good thing, I also ordered side of salmon and didn't have to leave hungry. Salmon was cooked perfectly.

Raynelle S.

Yelp
Had a lovely quiet dinner here on a weeknight. I love the location, as I always enjoy walking around San Marco. The intimate setting and lighting of this place made a lovely ambiance. Our server was friendly and went over the menu with us. I chose the house made fettuccine as recommended by our server. The fettuccine was fresh and served with a tomato cream sauce and Parmesan. I added grilled chicken for an additional $7.00. While it was a little salty for my taste, I still enjoyed the dish. I will come back and try other dishes.

Yelp
We had a business lunch at Taverna in San Marco yesterday and I have to say I was impressed with the service, food and ambiance of the restaurant. We had reservations so we were greeted and seated right away. They have outdoor seating on a front patio and it was a beautiful day but we chose to eat inside. It was pretty crowded but it was never so loud we couldn't hear each other speak. Our waitress was right there to take our drink order as we waited for the third member in our party to arrive. Once everyone was there we all ordered lunch. I ordered a beat salad with no extra protein, my husband ordered a chicken sandwich with a side salad and our colleague ordered a pasta dish. We chatted and I was surprised how quickly our food arrived. Everything was delicious! Our waitress was pretty intuitive, she realized that we were having a little business meeting so she cleared our dishes out of the way and was around to check in and refill our drinks. I want to return and try some fresh pasta the next time we come back. It really looked delicious. I highly recommend Taverna we had a great experience and I know you will too!

Lisa P.

Yelp
Came here for Sunday brunch with my family and boyfriend. We were going to cirque du soliel afterwards. They were packed and it felt loud inside. But the real problem is they forgot my order and I ended up getting it after my family was done eating. And I had to rush to eat since we were going to the show. The server who delivered everyone else's food didnt seem to care that they hadn't made my order. She was so unhelpful. Finally we told a manager and they brought it and comped it, but it wasn't an enjoyable experience for me. Omelette was good and fruit was fresh. Would I come back? No

Rachelle S.

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things about Taverna. Such a consistently great spot. The food is fresh and amazing, with even better staff! I love that the food presentation is very meticulous and beautiful. The restaurant is always packed with a fun, energetic vibe. Always a treat coming to eat here.

Chelsea R.

Yelp
I love the ambiance here. Modern rustic upscale. Is that a thing? It is here. Happy hour was nice. Decent wine selection and apps. We started with a charcuterie board and some wine. All very good. Nothing that really WOW'd me. Just a solid board of meats and cheese. For dinner I had the rack of lamb. My husband got the Bolognese. Husband LOVED the Bolognese! My rack of lamb was okay. Although I probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Husband had a glass of the Argiolas 'Korem' Isola Dei Nuraghi. WOW! The best wine I've ever had! All time favorite for me. This was then followed by the absolute worst drink I've ever had. It was their version of an espresso martini, but with tequila. Now, I'm all for trying things that are out of the ordinary, and with that you run a big risk of ingesting some, indigestible things. This drink was just that. It tasted like spicy burnt tires. Wow. I was literally looking at my husband saying "why is it spicy?" in a hoarse voice (IYKYK). Haha. The server even said it was "Chefs kiss" and that this drink won a ton of awards!?!? I truly do not know how. It was so awful. But hey, you win some and you lose some. Even after that, I'd still come back to try other things. There are a lot of items in the menu that looked good. And that wine is still calling my name!

Rou R.

Yelp
This place is really good for Jacksonville. It's consistent and the staff are usually good at their job. The older manager, maybe she doesn't work there anymore, with black hair is never pleasant to deal with. She scoffs and makes audible noises have walking people to their table or responding to requests/critiques. The ambiance is pleasant and very modern for Jax. The food can be really good. Like the calamari, most pizzas, short rib, and some others. The staff knows sh*t about wine pairings or alcohol in general. The drinks are sometimes terrible. I've had to request a replacement on multiple occasions. It's a nice spot but sometimes, if you venture out and try something new, you find the chef had no business attempting a dish they don't know how to prepare. In other words you're punished.

Haden J.

Yelp
The food is consistently good and usually we have great service. Today we had a great time thanks to Savannah! I have learned to ask for a change when necessary. Usually we eat in the dining room but today we ate outside and it wasn't bad at all. Trying to make it through the season without catching germs so it was leave or eat outside we tried the seafood stew. Yummy we did not get pasta but the garlic bread and grilled bread yes Gelato and cookie plate are our go to desserts. Last time I came for my birthday and it was a fail for us mostly due to service but today made up for it completely.

Mallorey S.

Yelp
The food at taverna is always stellar and our most recent trip was no exception. We went for brunch and everyone loved the food. We had the lemon ricotta pancakes, the crab cake Benedict and the pastry basket. All of the brunch cocktails were delicious as well. Our server was very friendly and provided great recommendations. We had a reservation and were seated promptly upon arrival. The atmosphere is welcoming and modern and slightly upscale. Highly recommended.

Jen C.

Yelp
Ambiance is lovely but food was just OK. The seafood spaghetti had a lot of seafood but the sauce was kind of bland. Appetizers were much more enjoyable. A bit pricey but they didn't skimp on the food.

Faith H.

Yelp
Always amazing food, drinks and service! One of my favorite Italian places in town. My personal favorite is the mushroom risotto! They just switched to the fall menu with a pumpkin spice espresso martini on the dessert menu!

JiMmy P.

Yelp
Brunch before watching the Jags game. We had reservations and waited a few minutes before being seated. I ordered their short rib Benedict brunch special. Flavorful meaty taste of braised short rib paired with simple greens. I had a couple of bites of my wife's Turkey and Brie sandwich. There wasn't much brie in the sandwich and the cranberry sauce in it was overwhelming. The price on our check didn't match the menu prices. Charged us more for the sandwich and bloody Mary and we're not talking about a couple of dollars here folks. Service was ok. Our server didn't even ask if we wanted dessert. She wasn't around that much and we had to wait to get our check picked up. Game was about to start and we're more than ready to go. It will be a while before we come back.

Hayley G.

Yelp
Decent Italian restaurant in Jax. Everyone talks about coming here so you gotta try it for yourself. Definitely come for happy hour to get some appetizers and wine.

Anna H.

Yelp
I went to Taverna on a recent visit to Jacksonville. I'm gluten free... they boast multiple gluten free options... great! Waitress was fantastic. She double checked things when we got the potato appetizer. The special was crab cakes cooked in the same fryer. She made sure our potatoes got baked. Super! However, the mushroom risotto was not gluten free!! A kitchen staff member must have added flour as a thickener, either out of malice or thoughtlessness. As a person with celiac disease I know the difference between a cross contamination and A LOT of gluten. This was A LOT. I had to run to the bathroom twice at the end of dinner. I woke up 15-20x that night, no exaggeration! It ruined my trip and I had to suffer 5 hours of air travel in that condition. 4 days later and I was considering the ER. I have never had as bad of a food experience in my entire life. Do not eat at Taverna if you are gluten free!!! You can pay $100 somewhere else not to get poisoned.

Kinyatto D.

Yelp
Let me start by saying the customer service is outstanding. You feel welcome from the moment you enter the door. The food was amazing, we had the oysters and tots. What a amazing treat we exactly ordered two more rounds them. Shout out the bartender he didn't hold back on the alcohol.

Kiera M.

Yelp
Ate here on a weekday and was not disappointed. I have had Taverna on my list of places to try for a while. I have tried to walk in the past on a weekend with no success so I was very happy to be able to get a seat. Our table was close to the hostess stand and did not offer much privacy so I would recommend making reservations and asking for more private seating. The waitress was very nice and she even came to fold up our napkins if we left the table. Each dish was made to order so my friend was able to get a seafood free carbonara! They even brought out a big dish of ice cream to celebrate his birthday. We also arrived during happy hour and had a delish riccotta app with bread. It was so filling and a great portion! Will be back soon.

Courtney K.

Yelp
This is a pleasant and tasty spot in San Marco that I finally had a reason to venture out to! I truly enjoyed the meal and our amazing server -- it was quite a pleasant spot to sit outside, enjoy a glass of Prosecco, and a good meal. Having lived a while in Italy, I'm always searching for more authentic and flavorful Italian spots. This one fit the bill for me -- I had their new lobster/crab carbonara which was very fresh and tasty, but a little lacking on the "carbonara" flavor I was craving. Once I got over that, though, I was able to enjoy what was a pleasant and delicious bowl of pasta. My only complaint is the price point. I know we're in a situation where prices of groceries and everything is high, but almost all the pasta meals and entrees were well over $30 (sandwiches, pizzas, etc were mostly under $25 by comparison). My meal was definitely worth the cost, but this just can't be a place for a quick and easy lunch place sadly. Either way, you definitely need to check this place out!

Kristina C.

Yelp
We went for Sunday brunch the food was very good the mimosas a little disappointing. The service was excellent and we didn't feel rushed. The decor was modern with a little retro inspiration. We had appetizers so my husband and I split the lobster omelette that was heavenly.

MaDonna W.

Yelp
We had an amazing dinner at taverna Friday night.. we recommend you always make a reservation we decided to eat out on the patio because they had heaters which made it nice and toasty and warm for us very cozy... The food is delicious we enjoyed the meatballs the linguine and clams... The delicious sea scallops the Mediterranean olives the brussels sprouts... A bottle of red a bottle of white so good... The service is amazing very friendly very quick.... And of course we had one of their delicious Panna cotta desserts.. The ambience is amazing we really enjoyed our time there.. we can't wait to go back...

Yelp
I have been wanting to visit Taverna as I have read good reviews about their food. Reservation is encouraged as they can get busy. As for the parking, it has always been our issue when we go to this area, and true enough, we could not find one immediately. The vibe of the place is casual on a Sunday brunch. They have a tv on the side of the reception area but surprisingly none at the bar. It would've been nice to watch a football game while waiting for our food. Anyways, we ordered the following: Bloody Mary- this is just like any average Bloody Mary, next time I will ask for a celery, they were pretty busy so I did not bother. Braised Short Rib Benedict- hubby and I both loved this dish! Very flavorful, but quite pricey for the portion. Turkey and Brie - this was a miss for me. I love Brie, and I could not taste it. The cranberry overpowered the sandwich. The ratio of bread to the filling is not balanced. I also requested to substitute the fries for a salad. Our server asked if I wanted tomatoes and onions with it and I said yes. I did not realize there will be an additional charge. Our server only came back once and did not even ask if we wanted a dessert. For the three items that we ordered, our total bill was $69 including the tip and I was not satisfied, to be honest. Overall, we would probably come back and try the pasta and their other entrees. I should've ordered the pasta in the first place as they specializes in Italian food.

Yelp
The restaurant was great! It was a very lively environment. The food was also great! I had the seafood pasta which was very yummy. The service was great as well and our server was very helpful in suggesting things we may like and everything we ordered was great! It is definitely on the pricier side but a great place for a celebration

Yelp
It was packed so I was very excited to have some great Italian food. Firstly, I must commend them for being an excellent choice for individuals with food allergies. The option to customize the meats and cheeses on the charcuterie board per person was truly remarkable. In fact, everything included on the board was exceptionally delicious. Moving on to the appetizers, I highly recommend the shrimp garlic dish, as it was truly delectable. However, I found the mussels and clams special to be slightly underwhelming due to its bland sauce. Perhaps a spicier marinara would have enhanced the flavors more effectively. Although I did not personally try it, I heard positive feedback from someone who opted for the gluten-free pasta. They claimed it was one of the best gluten-free pastas they had ever tasted. Unfortunately, my choice of the carbonara with lobster and crab did not meet my expectations. It turned out to be overly salty, and I realized in hindsight that combining cheese with seafood may not have been the wisest choice. When it comes to the wine selection, particularly Italian wines in an Italian restaurant, I believe there is an expectation for them to be outstanding, especially when they offer a few options by the glass. Unfortunately, the chianti I ordered fell short of delivering an enjoyable taste. On a positive note, our waiter provided excellent service, efficiently managing our table despite the extended wait time of approximately an hour between appetizers and the main course. As for dessert, the chocolate crème brulee proved to be a delightful conclusion to the meal. Reflecting on the overall experience, it was a mixture of ups and downs. In hindsight, I should have chosen the Bolognese dish, as I had the opportunity to taste it from someone else's plate and found it to be truly exceptional. In conclusion, while the dining experience had its moments of delight, there were certain aspects that fell short of expectations. Nonetheless, I believe exploring alternative menu options could lead to a more satisfying meal in the future.

Yelp
We had lunch/brunch here on a Sunday. The food was delicious, the service was good, although I had to get up to remind the server to bring us back our checks after we gave her the credit card. We loved the atmosphere, very upscale. As such the prices were on the high side, but this is in San Marco. We were a little disappointed in the menu that there weren't more Mediterranean dishes given the Taverna name. All of that said, the four of us agreed we'd go back if in the area.

Yelp
The beet salad and squash soups were amazing. I love sitting in their outdoor area, eating and watching those walking by. I love this place!

Yelp
Another Sunday morning out with the best looking Jags fan I know. We choose sit outside and watch the world go by. Sadly we were outnumbered by Giants fans on San Marco Blvd but I guess if you've come that far for breakfast you go to good places, right? Before talking dishes there are two things to touch upon. There were several signs posted saying they are no longer a pet friendly establishment. I also observed a waitress explaining the new policy to a couple with a dog. Oddly enough they didn't leave and were served. Look, we are dog people, but do you have the policy? And if so, are you going to actually enforce it? The other problem is saw is there seems to be a group of single Dads that bring their young children to brunch with them with the idea that the guys will talk sports while the kids treat the entire patio area as a playground. While the responsibility 100% belongs with the Dads it does affect how I feel when spending $26 on a Benedict special. Getting back to more important things...Nathan was our server and he was fantastic. Completely attentive keeping drinks filled, removing plates, etc without every being intrusive. Super polite and professional. We started the meal with the prosciutto scone. Super savory and tasty; came with whipped butter and orange jelly. We followed that up the the Taverna Hash and a brunch special of Short Rib Benedict with a side salad. The eggs on both dishes were cooked fabulously. The greens on the special were described as perfectly dressed with a great vinaigrette. The hash seemed a bit underwhelming. There was plenty of short rib to go around; however, it was very greasy which completely saturated the bread below making it inedible. Loved the mimosa glassware and at $8 a pop they seem to be more or less in line with everyone else's prices. I'd probably be closer to 3.5 stars but that's not how Yelp works. I went to Taverna knowing it would be pricey so I definitely think everything should be spot on. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt (with the 4 star rating) hoping my next visit finds every component of our dishes will be up to par and I won't need to bring a coach's whistle.
