Came to this place after hearing so much hype about it online. Was very excited to get a sip of this high quality matcha and was impressed by the flavors but shocked by the price. In my personal opinion, I think that it costs too much for the product that you are getting. However I cannot deny that not only are you paying for the drink, but you are paying for the experience. As soon as you enter, you get the opportunity to order and watch your drink be made by the staff. This is only possible if you can get a seat at the bar! The place is packed so if you are coming with a group of people, you probably won’t get a seat for all of you. As a solo traveler, I ended up sharing a table with two other strangers which I didn’t mind. There’s a seating area where you can take off your shoes and a space where you can sit along the matcha bar. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. For some funny reason, the place was very loud with the amount of people talking and the loud EDM music playing. It made me giggle. Recommend to try out, but know what you are paying for!

The matcha drinks here are not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The attention to detail in every serving is impeccable. It was fun to watch the staff serve up drinks while at the bar counter. The atmosphere is calming and the staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We tried the matcha latte and strawberry matcha with medium sweetness was loved it. Also enjoyed a side of matcha cake and matcha rice crispy to round out the experience. Will be back soon!

Update: I’ve tried most of their weekly specials (soybean and earl grey cream toppings have been my favorite!!) but the sparkling yuzu-matcha offering the Taz crew added to their menu this week is so refreshing and perfect for summer! It’ll be my go-to drink. How creative and delightful! * * * * * Good things come to those who wait in a queue… true in Japan and also very true if you come to Taz (so be patient if you have to wait for a seat!!). We were greeted with a complimentary matcha flight to understand and compare how when the tea leaf is picked affects both taste and color. The educational portion of the visit definitely elevated the experience for us! Everyone there was friendly and attentive. The drinks and light pastries were creative and tasty. We’ll definitely be back to experience the evening offerings!

A new matcha place recently opened where I live, and it’s really nice to see a spot like this offering a variety of matcha drinks along with Japanese-style seating areas. However, since the space is quite small, it gets crowded easily. When it fills up with people waiting for their drinks around the seating area, it can feel a bit uncomfortable for those trying to sit and enjoy their drinks at the tables. I wish they had more pastries available.

Google
First of all, yes, there was a line. We waited about 15-20min, it was worth it. When you first go to order, the guy behind the counter gives you an educational breakdown of what exactly it is you're ordering & what the difference between the two grades of matcha is. When we went, we got a strawberry matcha latte with the less expensive matcha, and a normal matcha latte with the more expensive matcha. I was a prefered the normal matcha latte, personally, but both were very good. The quality of the matcha is evident. It's earthy, grassy, but not bitter. It's delicious. It's such a beautiful green color. The inside is decorated quite nicely. Customer service was amazing. Definitely worth checking out. As a side note, there is no parking. There's a parking lot next door that's $20. Much better to walk or take public transit.

Google
Matcha Café & Bar is a must-visit for matcha lovers! 🍵 I went on a Saturday and waited about 30 minutes to get in, but it was absolutely worth it! The space is beautifully designed with Japanese-inspired decor, including a cozy low-seating area where you take off your shoes—super unique and adds to the aesthetic. I tried the Matcha Latte and Strawberry Matcha. The latte was smooth, strong, and clearly made with high-quality matcha. The strawberry version is sweeter, but the house-prepped strawberries adds a nice tartness that balances it out. Definitely recommend the matcha latte if you’re a matcha purist. Service was great—they bring your order to you, and everything felt thoughtful and well -executed. It is a bit on the pricey side (around $9 for the latte), but you can taste the quality in the drinks. Highly recommend if you appreciate authentic matcha or just want a beautiful café experience.

Google
Best matcha I’ve had in Seattle. Expensive but worth the price since they use a lot of quality matcha in the drinks. My friend and I tried a matcha latte with oat milk and 50% sweetness jasmine syrup and a strawberry matcha. Both were delicious! I love the flavor the jasmine syrup adds. The space is bright and airy with a bit of seating. Not enough space to meet the enormous demand they’ve been seeing, but if you get a seat it’s a good spot to hang out for a little bit.

Google
Went yesterday and waited in line for about an hour but that was apparently the longest it has been (given its Friday during lunch time). The owner was so sweet to come out to the line and explain the menu, sample their matchacanos as well as later take our orders to make it easier for the cashiers. I ordered the chashi matcha latte with matcha foam and jasmine syrup and the strawberry chashi matcha latte with jasmine syrup. Inside was beautiful with their nod to minimalist japanese furniture and murals. Both drinks were amazing but a bit grainy as i think it was not fully dissolved but given the quality of the tea and the man power behind whisking all of that match is given as it was still one of the best matches in the city!

Yelp
There's no doubt that they serve high quality matcha. During our visit, we ordered 2 matcha lattes (one of each blend). We chose agave for sweetener, and I even added an extra 2 grams of matcha to my drink. When the drink was served, the agave was at the bottom of the cup and was hard to mix in because of how thick and sticky it is. Even with 4-6gs of matcha, it wasn't as strong as I prefer. I would definitely come back to try again, but admittedly I was a bit let down with my experience. Overall, 4.5/5. Service is friendly. They're very knowledgable of the menu and ask questions to ensure they're getting your order right. Seating is limited to bar seating or tatami mat style.

Yelp
My friend who lives in Seattle wanted to try Taz Matcha and while Vancouver isn't particularly devoid of matcha cafes, this piqued my interest due to the different types of matcha offered and unique branding. When we arrived a slight line had already formed. The interior is oriental with tatami style seating as well as bar seating. I really liked the art on the walls! My boyfriend and I wanted to share the strawberry matcha and the red bean, but to our disappointment, the red bean was sold out. Since the red bean wasn't available, my boyfriend decided to run the risk and order the competition grade ceremonial matcha which was around $15-16 if I remember correctly. The price was lowkey outrageous and so my expectations began to brew. I like that the matcha is customizable with 5 different adjustments ranging from sweetness/choice of sweetener, matcha strength, milk choice, and cream top. I chose mine with oat milk (no extra charge!) and a bit of sweetener while my boyfriend chose oat and no sweetener. By the time we began waiting for our drinks, the line had started pouring out the door. I couldn't believe the traction this place was getting. When we received our drinks, a few spots at the bar opened up. The taste of the competition grade matcha was exquisitely deep and nutty without any grass-y aftertastes and lives to its name although I highly doubt I will get it again due to the price. The strawberry matcha was also delicious and not too sweet. The barista behind the counter was also very friendly and offered us water while we sat. I would love to return!

Yelp
I came to Taz on a Tuesday around 4 PM and lucked out since the line only took about 15 minutes! Speaking with some people in line, they said there's usual a wait out the door. From the start, the worker was super nice and let me try a sample because I could not decide on the foam flavor. I ended up getting the strawberry matcha with black sesame. The drink took a little over 10 minutes, but they packed it up nicely for me since I was taking it to go. Overall, the matcha was really good and I would definitely come back. It is fun to see them make the drinks right in front of you. Only thing is the seating is very limited, so it is better for a quick stop than for hanging out.

Yelp
We made multiple trips to Taz during our time in Seattle. I'd recommend anyone to stop by if they're near Belltown/Pike Place Market. Of all the drink we tried, we liked their Hojicha Latte and Red Bean Matcha the most. You can taste the tea in each drink (no clumps or grit from the powders) and was the perfect amount of sweetness. The only drink I'd deter others from trying is the Shogun Matcha. It's not bad - we definitely could taste its higher quality. However, I cannot say it's worth the money for me personally. The other drinks on their menu and plenty good. The interior decorations were so cozy. They have a bar and also a section for floor seats. It does get very busy, so being able to find a seat will be challenging at times. But, don't worry, they pump out drinks quickly.

Yelp
Taz Matcha is a small traditional matcha shop in the heart of downtown Seattle. I didn't know this was here but I was really delighted to try their hojicha latte. The inside was cute and there is a small seating area and a bar. They hand whisk each drink. They have various changing syrups and foam tops! Staff: nice (5/5) Sanitation status: (5/5) Hojicha with Salted vanilla cream and jasmine syrup (5/5) The hojicha was made really well. I didn't really taste the jasmine in the syrup too much but the syrup made the latte taste good. The salted vanilla cream top was a very good pairing to make the latte even creamier.

Yelp
I finally got to try Taz Matcha after the hype died down a bit! I got the strawberry matcha with jasmine as the sweetener. I'd say it was overall a really good matcha, but my only complaint is that I wish I made it sweeter. Our server was extremely helpful and gave me many suggestions. I believe one of the owners was talking to my boyfriend and I at the bar area, he was very funny and made the experience even more meaningful. Despite it being on the smaller side, the vibes were there. There was a traditional tatami area and a bar area for other customers. Very simple and minimalistic. Music choice was good too!

Yelp
Yummy matcha in the SLU area! When you get in line, a worker at the door will allow a few customers inside at a time. Wait times can vary depending on if people stay or take their matcha to go. Their menu is a decent sized and love that it's all matcha or hojicha based drinks. The workers are all very nice and the inside seating is so nice! I especially love the mat seating. The matcha was really good and not too sweet. Some of the best in Seattle!

Yelp
Unfortunately, I left pretty disappointed. I had high hopes for Taz with all the hype surrounding it, but it fell short of expectations. I ordered the Chashi blend matcha latte, unsweetened with an extra shot, and for the $15 price tag I expected something that would truly wow me. As someone who runs a matcha platform on Instagram (@matcha.eunie), I've been fortunate to try many high-quality matchas, and this one just didn't stand out. That said, the owners have curated a beautiful space and I respect the authenticity of their concept as well as the variety of matcha styles they offer. I just wish the drink itself had lived up to the setting.

Yelp
I appreciate the fact that Taz measures out all their components so it maintains the consistency and quality. I got the strawberry matcha latte and it was pretty good. The matcha is delicious and earthy - pair that with the strawberry jam that's in it and it's great! I will say I wish the straw was more sturdy since it's really hard to mix the drink altogether. Staff was okay and would be back in the area. Note that if there's a line, it'll take some time to get a drink. There was only 3 or 4 people in front of me but it took about 15 minutes to get my drink. There's also two tables indoor which are tatami style.

Yelp
LOVED THIS SPOT!!! The service is so kind and friendly. We came a few days in a row while visiting, and the staff remembered our names after one visit? Impressive. The drinks are amazing. I especially loved the Hojicha with black sesame and 25% sweetener. The customization options are so cool and let you experiment, but the staff can definitely guide you. Wish I had this spot down the street from me. Seattle has a real winner here.

Yelp
Saw this place on the walk from my Hotel to Pike's. It had a pretty decent line but it went fast. I got the matcha latte with the jasmine sweetener. They also have a strawberry I may go back for. The team was pleasant. There was a bar seating and some little tables. I ended up sitting outside down the sidewalk a little bit. My latte was so good!
google avatar

Yelp
Interior design is gorgeous! Love the aesthetic. Note that this isn't really the spot to do any work in and rather it is a place to enjoy conversation. We barely waited 20 minutes on Saturday! I was fully expecting waiting longer. Ordered a matcha with black sesame cold foam. Loved the nuttiness of the sesame to pair with the bitterness of the matcha

Yelp
Came back here a second time with one of my friends who hasn't been here yet! Surprisingly, we waited in the same general spot as my first visit, which is to say that lines are still utterly long. Differences being that we got here at 12pm instead of 1pm, and the line moved much faster; we waited only 30 minutes from the time we lined up to when we actually got our drinks compared to 1 hour and 10 minutes from my initial visit. It seems like they're making the drinks much faster now, but I didn't quite feel that when I got the same drink as last time (iced strawberry matcha chashi blend) but at 50% sweetness this time. Drink was still very floral, and the strawberry puree in my drink still hits, hence the quality hasn't dropped. My friend and I also got seating at one of the two tables to the left of the place. For these tables, you would take your shoes off before sitting, and we decided to enjoy our drinks that way as we watched the servers whisk matcha back and forth. I still recommend this place highly especially since things are going by faster without sacrificing any quality.

Yelp
I can see why this place has a long line (about 10-15min wait). Their matcha is top notch, ranging from the basic matcha lattes to ceremonial grade stuff, all the way to the premium "competition grade" shogun matcha. And their drinks are customizable, with sweetness, flavors, ice, and toppings options. I got the red bean matcha, which is warm and earthy. Didn't taste much of the red bean, but it was worth the money. Speaking of which, you don't get much drink for the price (ranging from $7-18), but the quality is superb. Inside doesn't have much space, but if you're lucky enough to get table seats, they're traditional Japanese low tables, so take your shoes off. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained.

Yelp
Taz matcha is worth the hype. If you don't want to wait in line, stop complaining and go on an early weekday. Vivian and Lillian are the nicest baristas! They helped me walk through every step of ordering and now I'm a pro. I ordered an iced matcha latte with the chiran harvest, 100% sweet with jasmine syrup, whole milk and banana cream top ($7.89). It hits every time. Every drink is made to order and you get to watch them whisk right in front of you. The shop is small, you're not guaranteed a seat. They announce a new or returning cream top every week on their instagram and I always look forward to it! I would highly recommend!
google avatar

Leilani Q.

Yelp
Solid matcha spot downtown. The line moves relatively quickly and spots at the counter open up pretty quickly. However the seats at the two tables were taken for a long period of time by people who were working. I feel like I'd feel bad taking up a whole table working when there's a line of people outside who might want to enjoy their drinks in house. Anywhooooooo Half sweet (Jasmine sweetener) hojicha latte iced: Soooo roasty toasty! Loved their hojicha flavor. The addition of their seasonal strawberry cream top was also tasty Iced matcha tea 25% Jasmine sweetener with strawberry cream top: this was so refreshing and had a deep matcha color. The difference between their matcha tea and latte is that the tea is made with water instead of milk. But if you add a cream top it's a great balance! Although, I wish they added a bit more cream top to my drink. About $9 per drink with the add ons

Yelp
Got here right when they opened and there was no line, and it was pretty chill and there were only a few people coming in and out by the time we left around 8:30. Just surprised bc the last time we went it was much busier with lines out the door. Overall the matcha and service were very good, service was very friendly and patient and went through all the options on the menu with us and explained the different choices. They gave us water when we sat at the table. I thought 75% for the matcha was pretty sweet and is probably what I would get but if you like classic matcha I would only get 50% sweeter (we got the jasmine sweetener not the agave sweetener). And the spot is so cute, love it.

Yelp
This place was poppin! And its a pretty small store. They have the line handled pretty well and we ended up waiting 5-10 minutes. Their matcha is delicious! I got the strawberry matcha with no sweetener and it was bitter like how I like it! I like that every drink can be customized to your sweetness level.
google avatar

Jo L.

Yelp
They have the most thoughtful service I've seen in a really long time. Very very busy especially at noon. I've been sitting here for 1.5 hours. Wanted to order another before I left but the line was out the door. One of the employees came to take my order which was very kind of them. Hojicha latte, less ice, extra 2oz, whole milk, 25% jasmine sweetener, black sesame topping ~$12 - I love the customizable option. Especially the option to double the hojicha shot I have this bookmarked as one of my favorite places in Seattle. Would definitely come back.
google avatar

Yelp
My first time here was for limited-time dinner and bar experience! Food was on a rotating menu and we tried the gyudon beef bowl which was delicious. Wish they would bring this back again! The service here is amazing. The owner and employees genuinely care for your experience and made sure we had a great time. I went back the very next day for their matcha, which was top quality and so delicious.

Yelp
Delicious drinks. Fast and friendly service. Adorable, chill atmosphere. Great place to sit and catch up with friends. Street parking or paid parking lot only.

Yelp
Probably one of the best matcha latte's I've had in awhile! Came across Taz Matcha while strolling the streets of Seattle. Stone ground Matcha just hits different with rich flavor. I love how you are able to customize the whole drink. 50% sweetness is already pretty sweet! Just the perfect blend. The staff at Taz Matcha were so welcoming and helpful with ordering since this was my first time at the cafe. This is such a fun place to chat over matcha. A very relaxed cafe atmosphere. I can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Neel K.

Yelp
Best matcha in Seattle hands down. If you love hojicha I recommend the Hojicha cream top, but if you don't I would say it can be very overpowering and take over the flavor of the entire drink. The black sesame cream top tastes so nutty and works so well with their freshly made matcha. Service 100/10, so friendly so nice. I love Taz!!! food ig: @snapped.by.neel for more pics

Yelp
I like the concept of a matcha cafe by day and a bar at night, but unfortunately, I feel like this place was overhyped. Everything was good but nothing was mind blowing, and I definitely don't think it's worth the hour long plus wait (the bar has a long waitlist but the cafe wait is sometimes pretty short). The snacks and matcha at the cafe are really picturesque but they taste pretty standard. The matcha in my opinion was a little bland and the strawberry flavor overpowered it. I actually liked the matcha strawberry at the bar more. I thought the strawberry matcha cocktail had a better balance of sweetness and earthiness. The rest of the drinks were also pretty good but nothing stood too much. The service is pretty friendly but they definitely favor regulars and their friends. There's no formal waitlist at the bar and they just text you when a spot is open. We waited about 90 minutes and when we asked about our spot, they said they forgot us which kinda sucks.

Yelp
A restful retreat on the busy streets of downtown. We were pleasantly surprised by the modern interior with a blend of Japanese aesthetics, a tatami mat for seating and barstools. We ordered two drinks - one matcha and one hojicha latte. A bit on the pricier end $$ but you do get to customize the drinks quite a bit. Service wasn't the nicest tbh, we arrived and while reading the sign on the door we were brought to the right counter and asked what we want right away. We had not even gotten the chance to look at a menu to make a decision.. very odd service. When we got our drinks it took some time to receive them, the aesthetics of the interior were great but the presentation was in to-go cups. All in all an okay experience the matcha was good and the hojicha was a bit too sweet still at 25% . All in all about a 3 star experience :) maybe if they get less busy it will be better, but service could definitely improve to match the aesthetic.

Yelp
Short description: Social media hyped mediocre matcha shop. Visited on a Friday late morning to try their matcha drink. Parking around is hard, I would recommend walking/ubering around. When I got inside, it was crowded inside with younger crowd trying for a hype. Staffs weren't very friendly, seemed a little chaotic inside. Waited about 15-20 mins for a drink. Paid around $9 without any extra things. Tried regular whole milk and regular sweetness because I wanted to taste matcha. The matcha drink tasted like just milk and very blend. No where close to the real Japanese matcha drinks. Didn't really get to taste matcha at all. Very disappointing.

Yelp
Definitely some good matcha! I came on a Monday when there wasn't too long of a wait, despite it being such a nice sunny day. The inside is really cool and has some traditional style tables and also seating at the bar. We were lucky enough to get some seats at the bar when it was our turn. They hand whisk all the matcha which was nice to see. I got the red bean matcha with oat milk and jasmine syrup, which was a decent size especially for the price. The flavor of the matcha was definitely there, and I loved the red bean though I wish there was more. These are not particularly sweet which is nice. I also appreciated how they didn't charge more for oat milk. Overall, a great experience!

Yelp
Taz Matcha is a fairly new cafe (soon to be providing bar experiences) that opened up in the Westlake area of Seattle. They serve ceremonial matcha here. Outside of their regular menu, on their Instagram page, they showcase a weekly special drink that is available! My friend who was visiting from Florida wanted a matcha fix. So, we walked over from Capitol Hill to Taz Matcha to be shocked with a long line out the door. Luckily, it didn't wrap around the corner, but by the time we ordered and left, it was. Since we didn't have anywhere urgent to be later in the day, we just stood in the line. By the time we were inside, ordered, and received our drinks, it was close to an hour. There is limited space and seating inside. Definitely not meant for a place to hang around too long. I ordered the Strawberry Matcha (iced) and she ordered the Blueberry Cream Matcha (iced), which was the special drink of the week! Luckily, a group was leaving and we snagged two seats before our drinks were ready. While we were sitting and chatting, one of the employees came by to serve us each a glass of water. Soon after, he came back and gave everyone a free sample of a hojicha cake. As we were leaving, we were even acknowledged for visiting. Great experience and hope to see what other amazing things are to come from Taz Matcha!

Yelp
Such a great experience at Taz!! The staff was super kind and inviting. They also gave me great recs. The store was such a good vibe. There was floor seating and also bar seats where you could watch the matcha drinks be made thoroughly. I got the matcha latte with oat milk. I love how you can get extra strong if wanted, I would get this next time because I love a strong matcha. So yummy!

Yelp
Always on a side quest to find new matcha and hojicha spots, and Taz is a great find tucked away in downtown Seattle. I'm always on the lookout for hojicha that reminds me of Japan, and this place definitely comes close. The hojicha has a consistently good flavor, just make sure to give it a good stir before drinking. The matcha is great as well, not too milky. The shop itself is small with limited seating, but they do have a few cozy table spots where you're asked to take off your shoes, which is unique. Parking is limited to street parking, so keep that in mind if you're driving. Prices are a bit higher than other places, but the quality makes it worth it.

Yelp
Tried this new matcha place in Seattle as I was visiting and i was glad i went earlier in the day and there wasn't a line. The interior looked rlly nice and loved the aesthetics. I got the chashi blend matcha latte with jasmine syrup with less ice. I was told it would be slightly less filled but when i got my drink it was less than halfway filled. I payed $9 for less than half a cup that tasted milky. the picture shows the cup after i took 2 sips the strawberry latte was decent, the strawberry paired well with the drink and wasn't too sweet. overall their matcha was just okay

Yelp
The matcha at Taz is very good! I appreciate that they have different blends and strengths of matcha, and you can adjust your milk, sweetener, and sweetness level! They don't even charge extra for oat milk. They also have different cream tops to choose from, including a weekly special, such as banana or kinako. All of our drinks were very good and the matcha flavor was rich and not bitter. Having add ins such as strawberry or cream top tend to take away from the matcha flavor, so if you're a true matcha lover, I'd recommend going without too many add ins or increase the strength of the matcha. The shop itself is very cute, but has limited seating. The store is still quite busy, but I only waited about 20 minutes in total on a Thursday at 12pm. The store is still technically in their "soft opening" phase, so they close pretty early at 2:30pm, but now they serve sake and food at night, so be on the lookout for that! The staff were very friendly and fast. Pro tip: ask the cashier how sweet your drink would be before adjusting your sweetness level! I got a strawberry matcha with a banana cream top, and according to the cashier, the strawberry and cream were already pretty sweet, so I honestly wouldn't need to add much sugar. And she was right! It was still perfectly sweet without adding extra sweetener. Would definitely recommend Taz Matcha if the wait isn't too long or you're really craving a solid matcha!

Yelp
I saw this on my IG feeds recently and decided to try this place out. Since they just newly opened, the lines will be long like most new openings. My partner and I came around the afternoon before closing time and there was still a long line wrapping around the building. We waited for about 40 minutes to get inside. FYI they're doing the soft opening hours and close early at 2:30pm. By the time we went inside, the shop was small with a few counter seatings and two tables for small group seatings. Staffs were quick at whisking each matcha orders to keep the flow of customers. The menu was very simple, you get to choose two different types of ceremonial grade matcha added to your drink, Chiran (earthy notes) or Chashi blend (floral notes). Then choose either matcha, strawberry matcha or red bean matcha. At the time of ordering, they were sadly out of strawberry pureed so we both ordered the chiran and chashi matcha lattes with agave syrup. Overall, I thought their matcha were strong and not overly bitter. Each drink is about $8 with tax which is pricey for matcha. But I get it, the matcha shortage is real. I'm very surprised how there aren't much matcha cafes in Seattle. Will definitely go back once the hype dies down.

Yelp
Finally had a chance to stop by and try their beverages everyone has been raving about. If you have the time I think dining in is the way to go cause it's about the experience they offer. I went at a break from work and it was a 12 min bus ride so my time was limited luckily I got there around 8:30 there was a line but it moved fairly quickly. Each drink is made to order and part of the reason for the long lines is the customers trying to make a decision. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and patient. For as crazy busy as it is the space itself is very calming. Limited counter space and a few tatami type tables. I'm more of a hojicha fan, love the roasted flavor. I went with an iced hojicha added the black sesame cream top I also picked up a strawberry matcha 50% sweet with the chiran blend for a lucky friend at work cause if I was going to go all that way and wait in line I had to get more than one beverage. Also picked up one of the canale. I decided not to get a hojicha latte since I was getting the cream top which I personally thought was a perfect choice for me. The canale texture and taste was perfect!! Canales sourced from Sucres. Looking forward to what they have planned for the evening

Yelp
The matcha is good! Wish it had mote strawberry. The atmosphere was so good! Sit down on the floor and sit by the table option available! The staff was pretty nice. Will say the salted vanilla foam was dissapointing. It is on the left as you can see, and I don't know if I just got it on the wrong day but it was just a splash of it. Would not get it again but everything else was good.

Yelp
Very delicious Matcha and Hojicha. I honestly like my drinks regular without anything fancy, but today I decided to give it a try! Pick your hot or cold beverage, syrup, filling/topping, and choose your sweetness. I am a Hojicha fan, I got it with black sesame, earl grey, + 50% sweetness. This is more of a tea bark earthy taste. Very unique taste. Didn't need the black sesame. 4/5 Mango matcha with earl grey syrup, regular sweetness. Too sweet for me, and not much tartness but that's just my preference! 3/5 Black sesame matcha with earl grey, regular sweetness was much more heavier and creamy if you will. 3.5/5 Canele - French custard filling pastry. Caramelized on the outside. Crispy and bouncy exterior filled with custard. 4/5 (I LOVE Caneles) All in all! I thought this was a fun experience and I would definitely come back. Thanks!

Yelp
Love that they do ceremonial matcha. This place is popular for a reason - especially for places serving ceremonial matcha with buzzy ingredients, there will be a wait. I came here on a weekday right around open, and a handful of people were already there. The line moved pretty quickly, which was nice. There is minimal seating, but if you're lucky enough to snag one of the tatami-mat like seatings, go for it! The drink itself was decent, maybe a little more watered down than I would have liked. It was ceremonial matcha with strawberry cream top. But the quality of the matcha itself was definitely good. If I go back, I will just get a matcha latte or plain.

Yelp
Very cute interior space. Some bar seating and some tables on the ground (you sit on traditional tatami mats). I'm gonna say it- probably my favorite matcha in Seattle (so far). They have great classic flavor combinations but it's obvious they take their matcha seriously. Drinks weren't too sweet but flavors were well balanced. The baristas (match-istas?) were very knowledgeable. I will definitely go out of my way to go back.

Yelp
After hearing all the hype online about this place, we decided to give it a try on a Thursday morning. We arrived about 10 minutes before opening and there was already a line. Once it opened, the owner apologized for the wait and greeted us in. Strawberry Matcha Latte (4/5): we customized it how the employee recommended (jasmine syrup and 50% sweetness). The matcha is definitely strong. We did wish they had a bit more strawberry. By the middle of the drink it tasted like regular matcha. The aesthetic of the place is 10/10. I appreciated how clean the bathrooms were too. All of the employees were super nice.

Yelp
Food /drink: 9/10 Service :10/10 Ambience : 10/10 This matcha place is such a cute spot to meet up with friends. The space is small but have enough sitting if you want to meet up for a quick chat. There are sitting at the bar and some group sitting on the side. Parking is hard to find just base on the location. Matcha is very refreshing and authentic. I also enjoy their hojicha selections. You can customize sweetness which I appreciate. Only small feedback for food is pastry selection. The strawberry sando filling is super yummy but the bread is a little stale/ rough and not as soft but overall still enjoyable!

Yelp
Overhyped Macha spot with long wait. One thing I like was that they have interesting toppings and add a flavors such as black sesame - it was not overly sweet either The line seem to be moving extremely slow, and the barista took their time to make the Matcha. I'm not sure if it's worth the wait, and given the set up and the price, I'd give it a 3.5 star

Yelp
Every time I've gone by there has been a pretty decent line that's taken about 25 mins to get through. However once you do get to the doorway if you're ordering for one, you can order at the door with someone with the handheld card reader which makes getting your drink a bit quicker. I enjoyed how they had two kinds of matcha: an earthy vs floral/umami one. I opted for the earthy matcha with oat milk and 25% sweetness. I also liked how they had two sweetener options: jasmine and agave. I really liked the matcha flavor overall and will definitely be coming back to try the strawberry matcha!

Yelp
I love the vibe of this place so much and would come back daily if it wasn't in downtown. This place is truly busy every minute of the day, with the quiet period being right around 9-9:15am. The worst part is just how busy it is, which means it gets loud and you have to do your best to not get irritated at the countless number of people stepping on the tatami with their shoes. I don't feel that the drinks are any different compared to what you can get at any other shop that uses premium matcha. There are a lot of cool customizations, but even the cheapest one will put you close to $10/drink. Almost all the customers are in their twenties, most likely still in college, which makes it feel like a big influencer overhype. But this place excels because of the vibe, the decor, and the staff. The staff has so much endurance, patience, and attentiveness, it's truly admirable. I think this place could be really cool if it was more of a quiet room to read, study, or work, with a window for to-go orders. You know, the relaxed elegance it was designed to have. Still worth visiting, and a place I'd definitely take my friends from out of town.

Yelp
Probably the best matcha and the best hojicha I've had in a really long time. Tried the strawberry chiran and the hojicha latte. They do have oat milk as an option for dairy free. The servers were pretty efficient for how busy they were. One of the servers asked about milk when I ordered though and one did not so make sure you speak up if you want modifications to milk, toppings, sweetness, etc. I sat at the bar which was very classy (though busy and packed) but the tables looked lovely too with traditional tatami mats. Be prepared to wait in line but know the line moves fast and drinks come out quickly.

Yelp
The matcha was excellent! The service was very friendly! They really took the time to explain the matcha and gave great recommendations! The strawberry matcha and jasmine syrup was excellent together! Inside was so cute! I didn't like the wait. The line is soooo long, but they were really working hard and there just happens to be a lot of people waiting to try!

Yelp
Taz *June 4, 2025 *8:30am- Wednesday *5 Stars Seating/ Environment: *No parking *Pretty Aesthetic *Loud (when crowded) *Hole-in-the-wall Food/Drink: *Iced Matcha Latte (Chiran Harvest and Charashi Blend) with Oat Milk, Agave, and Matcha Top Cream We checked out Taz Matcha Bar after a friend recommended it (shout out Emily), and it definitely lived up to the hype! We ordered the Chiran and Chashira blend matcha, both were 10/10--super smooth, high quality, and not overly sweet. The server was really helpful in explaining the sweetness levels and walking us through the menu, which was nice since all the drinks are handmade to order. The space itself is pretty small and gets busy fast--we went right at opening and still waited about 15 minutes. It can get a little loud inside, so it was sometimes hard to hear, but the vibe is still relaxed. Seating is limited and low to the ground, Japanese-style, and you'll need to take your shoes off. The restroom was also surprisingly cute, with green matcha-themed walls. We really wished we had more time to come back and try the strawberry matcha--it's definitely on the list for next time!

Yelp
I see so many friends posting this place with long lines and reviews saying 1+ hour waits but I fortunately seen none of those. No lines and almost empty inside on a Thursday 9am, so I hit the jackpot. I got the strawberry matcha latte (Chashi blend) upon recommendation that the Chashi blend is more floral and fragrant despite a $1 surcharge. I opted for regular milk and 50% sweetness upon recommendation. The matcha is really good, and I even got the matcha krispy to make my visit very matcha-ful. The matcha krispy has strong matcha flavor and a bit sweet, but pairs well with the drink. They have countertop seats if you are a small group and low seats for larger groups, both of which fairly aesthetic. I sat at the countertop and immediately someone asks me if I wanted water and I opted to. Throughout my drink, they picked out trash (the straw and wrapper of the krispy) in a timely manner and refilled water. I did not expect actual full service at a matcha / tea place, so this was a nice surprise! Everyone there was super friendly. I guess the prices are quite high - over $10 for a strawberry matcha latte after tax, so they have to prove the value somehow. My only complaint for this place is pricing, since the matcha and service are top notch. I wasn't a fan of how they do the transactions - extra 4% surcharge for credit cards for an already pricy drink. And then they hand the screen with a default 20% tip with multiple steps needed to take to leave a custom tip. I am not docking off a star here solely because of the full service you will receive if you chose to sit down, which I guess bakes in to the 20-30% upcharge compared to other matcha spots. However, I probably wouldn't go out of my way here, but can see this as a once in a while treat.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place but after an hour in line and a single $10 drink, I was not impressed. I ended up getting the strawberry matcha with the chashi blend. The drink itself had way too much strawberry for my liking, it took up a whole third of the cup and it overpowered the drink where I wasn't able to get as much matcha flavor, it mostly tasted like strawberry jam. The matcha itself was decent but not as floral and fragrant as I had hoped especially at that price point. Also the service was pretty inconsistent. For all other customers they sat them down and made the drinks in front of them, explained the process and matcha, and gave them waters. As I watched from afar, I was waiting for my turn but then they proceeded to just dump the excess matcha they had from another customer into another cup. That one ended up being mine, no water, no detailed explanation, I wasn't even asked if I wanted to sit.

Yelp
Taz was not on my radar at all. My friend and I were walking to a brunch spot on a Thursday and saw a long line out there door at Taz. I looked it up and got so excited because I love drinking matcha. So after brunch, we got in line and waited outside for about 20-30 minutes. Once inside, you're directed to order at the counter. They offer two different types of ceremonial matcha, as well as hojicha and a few snacks. I got the popular strawberry matcha, and it definitely meets hype! You can take the drink to go, or sit at the bar counter or at a table where you have to take off your shoes. The table seats are low and basically like sitting on the ground. I liked sitting at the counter to chat with the staff. You can watch them make your drink and talk with them to learn more about matcha. They also gave me a little sample of matcha too. Highly recommend this place if you like matcha / green tea. Just be prepared to wait in a long line.
