A new matcha place recently opened where I live, and it’s really nice to see a spot like this offering a variety of matcha drinks along with Japanese-style seating areas. However, since the space is quite small, it gets crowded easily. When it fills up with people waiting for their drinks around the seating area, it can feel a bit uncomfortable for those trying to sit and enjoy their drinks at the tables. I wish they had more pastries available.

Matcha Café & Bar is a must-visit for matcha lovers! 🍵 I went on a Saturday and waited about 30 minutes to get in, but it was absolutely worth it! The space is beautifully designed with Japanese-inspired decor, including a cozy low-seating area where you take off your shoes—super unique and adds to the aesthetic. I tried the Matcha Latte and Strawberry Matcha. The latte was smooth, strong, and clearly made with high-quality matcha. The strawberry version is sweeter, but the house-prepped strawberries adds a nice tartness that balances it out. Definitely recommend the matcha latte if you’re a matcha purist. Service was great—they bring your order to you, and everything felt thoughtful and well -executed. It is a bit on the pricey side (around $9 for the latte), but you can taste the quality in the drinks. Highly recommend if you appreciate authentic matcha or just want a beautiful café experience.

The matcha drinks here are not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The attention to detail in every serving is impeccable. It was fun to watch the staff serve up drinks while at the bar counter. The atmosphere is calming and the staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We tried the matcha latte and strawberry matcha with medium sweetness was loved it. Also enjoyed a side of matcha cake and matcha rice crispy to round out the experience. Will be back soon!

First of all, yes, there was a line. We waited about 15-20min, it was worth it. When you first go to order, the guy behind the counter gives you an educational breakdown of what exactly it is you're ordering & what the difference between the two grades of matcha is. When we went, we got a strawberry matcha latte with the less expensive matcha, and a normal matcha latte with the more expensive matcha. I was a prefered the normal matcha latte, personally, but both were very good. The quality of the matcha is evident. It's earthy, grassy, but not bitter. It's delicious. It's such a beautiful green color. The inside is decorated quite nicely. Customer service was amazing. Definitely worth checking out. As a side note, there is no parking. There's a parking lot next door that's $20. Much better to walk or take public transit.

We went on a weekday around 11am. There was no line when we got there, but by the time we left there was. We got an iced matcha with cream top and agave syrup as well as an iced hojicha with jasmine syrup. Both were splendid drinks. I will say if you aren’t a big fan of sweet drinks, be aware of the cream tops because they add a lot of sweetness. I probably wouldn’t have needed a sweetener for the drink itself. We also got a matcha canelle which was good. Caramelized bottom and a dense/chewy middle (in a good way). The staff were kind and helpful in their explanations. Unfortunately not a lot of seating.

If you are a matcha lover, or just curious to explore it’s rich vibrant color, Taz Seattle is the place! It is the perfect spot for matcha lovers. From the moment I stepped in, the serene ambiance and the delicate aroma of freshly whisked matcha transported me straight to Japan. Their matcha selection is top tier, ceremonial grade brews that create the perfect taste. I tried the red bean and strawberry matcha and the balance of smooth and sweetness was perfect. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable, guiding me through the origins and brewing techniques with passion and expertise. Highly recommend to both matcha connoisseurs and newcomers!

Google
Yes, finally an authentic Matcha spot in Seattle Washington. While I am not a huge fan of the authentic flavor as weird as it sounds because I am used to the sweet milky flavors of the ones elsewhere. It is nice to get that rooty earthy Matcha taste however the strawberry syrup here was way too sweet. Great service and overall great experience. I would come back and give it another try

Google
We went here during their soft opening and waited ~30 mins to get in around noon on a Friday. I'm not sure I would wait again, especially since the drink prices were so steep. We paid nearly ~10 for the strawberry matcha, and this included their soft opening discount. To be fair the drink was quite good, the matcha was good and strawberries didn't taste artificial at all since they used real strawberries and freeze dried strawberries for the top. The atmosphere was also quite cozy with the floor seating and warm colors but the space was a lot smaller than expected. I don't think the cafe can comfortably support any more than 20 ppl, realistically less than 15 ppl, making it uncomfortable for long stays.

Yelp
Always on a side quest to find new matcha and hojicha spots, and Taz is a great find tucked away in downtown Seattle. I'm always on the lookout for hojicha that reminds me of Japan, and this place definitely comes close. The hojicha has a consistently good flavor, just make sure to give it a good stir before drinking. The matcha is great as well, not too milky. The shop itself is small with limited seating, but they do have a few cozy table spots where you're asked to take off your shoes, which is unique. Parking is limited to street parking, so keep that in mind if you're driving. Prices are a bit higher than other places, but the quality makes it worth it.

Yelp
Delicious drinks. Fast and friendly service. Adorable, chill atmosphere. Great place to sit and catch up with friends. Street parking or paid parking lot only.

Yelp
Probably one of the best matcha latte's I've had in awhile! Came across Taz Matcha while strolling the streets of Seattle. Stone ground Matcha just hits different with rich flavor. I love how you are able to customize the whole drink. 50% sweetness is already pretty sweet! Just the perfect blend. The staff at Taz Matcha were so welcoming and helpful with ordering since this was my first time at the cafe. This is such a fun place to chat over matcha. A very relaxed cafe atmosphere. I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Cute interior and pretty friendly service though they tend to want to rush you out the door after you grab your order. Matcha felt overrated, the strawberry syrup was yummy but the matcha tasted watered down with almost more than half the cup being ice, all for $9. I just wasn't super impressed for all the hype

Yelp
A restful retreat on the busy streets of downtown. We were pleasantly surprised by the modern interior with a blend of Japanese aesthetics, a tatami mat for seating and barstools. We ordered two drinks - one matcha and one hojicha latte. A bit on the pricier end $$ but you do get to customize the drinks quite a bit. Service wasn't the nicest tbh, we arrived and while reading the sign on the door we were brought to the right counter and asked what we want right away. We had not even gotten the chance to look at a menu to make a decision.. very odd service. When we got our drinks it took some time to receive them, the aesthetics of the interior were great but the presentation was in to-go cups. All in all an okay experience the matcha was good and the hojicha was a bit too sweet still at 25% . All in all about a 3 star experience :) maybe if they get less busy it will be better, but service could definitely improve to match the aesthetic.

Yelp
Short description: Social media hyped mediocre matcha shop. Visited on a Friday late morning to try their matcha drink. Parking around is hard, I would recommend walking/ubering around. When I got inside, it was crowded inside with younger crowd trying for a hype. Staffs weren't very friendly, seemed a little chaotic inside. Waited about 15-20 mins for a drink. Paid around $9 without any extra things. Tried regular whole milk and regular sweetness because I wanted to taste matcha. The matcha drink tasted like just milk and very blend. No where close to the real Japanese matcha drinks. Didn't really get to taste matcha at all. Very disappointing.

Yelp
Definitely some good matcha! I came on a Monday when there wasn't too long of a wait, despite it being such a nice sunny day. The inside is really cool and has some traditional style tables and also seating at the bar. We were lucky enough to get some seats at the bar when it was our turn. They hand whisk all the matcha which was nice to see. I got the red bean matcha with oat milk and jasmine syrup, which was a decent size especially for the price. The flavor of the matcha was definitely there, and I loved the red bean though I wish there was more. These are not particularly sweet which is nice. I also appreciated how they didn't charge more for oat milk. Overall, a great experience!

Yelp
Tried this new matcha place in Seattle as I was visiting and i was glad i went earlier in the day and there wasn't a line. The interior looked rlly nice and loved the aesthetics. I got the chashi blend matcha latte with jasmine syrup with less ice. I was told it would be slightly less filled but when i got my drink it was less than halfway filled. I payed $9 for less than half a cup that tasted milky. the picture shows the cup after i took 2 sips the strawberry latte was decent, the strawberry paired well with the drink and wasn't too sweet. overall their matcha was just okay

Yelp
Came here twice, the first time I ordered the hojicha latte. It was good but I felt it was a little overrated and not worth the wait. The second time I got the black sesame cream top, this was really good. Very nutty and already sweet so I would recommend getting it with little to no sweetener on your matcha. I also felt that the jasmine syrup overpowers the matcha flavor unless you are super into floral flavors in your drink. The inside is very aesthetic and the service is really nice if you are looking to spend $10 on your matcha

Yelp
Taz Matcha is a fairly new cafe (soon to be providing bar experiences) that opened up in the Westlake area of Seattle. They serve ceremonial matcha here. Outside of their regular menu, on their Instagram page, they showcase a weekly special drink that is available! My friend who was visiting from Florida wanted a matcha fix. So, we walked over from Capitol Hill to Taz Matcha to be shocked with a long line out the door. Luckily, it didn't wrap around the corner, but by the time we ordered and left, it was. Since we didn't have anywhere urgent to be later in the day, we just stood in the line. By the time we were inside, ordered, and received our drinks, it was close to an hour. There is limited space and seating inside. Definitely not meant for a place to hang around too long. I ordered the Strawberry Matcha (iced) and she ordered the Blueberry Cream Matcha (iced), which was the special drink of the week! Luckily, a group was leaving and we snagged two seats before our drinks were ready. While we were sitting and chatting, one of the employees came by to serve us each a glass of water. Soon after, he came back and gave everyone a free sample of a hojicha cake. As we were leaving, we were even acknowledged for visiting. Great experience and hope to see what other amazing things are to come from Taz Matcha!

Yelp
I saw this on my IG feeds recently and decided to try this place out. Since they just newly opened, the lines will be long like most new openings. My partner and I came around the afternoon before closing time and there was still a long line wrapping around the building. We waited for about 40 minutes to get inside. FYI they're doing the soft opening hours and close early at 2:30pm. By the time we went inside, the shop was small with a few counter seatings and two tables for small group seatings. Staffs were quick at whisking each matcha orders to keep the flow of customers. The menu was very simple, you get to choose two different types of ceremonial grade matcha added to your drink, Chiran (earthy notes) or Chashi blend (floral notes). Then choose either matcha, strawberry matcha or red bean matcha. At the time of ordering, they were sadly out of strawberry pureed so we both ordered the chiran and chashi matcha lattes with agave syrup. Overall, I thought their matcha were strong and not overly bitter. Each drink is about $8 with tax which is pricey for matcha. But I get it, the matcha shortage is real. I'm very surprised how there aren't much matcha cafes in Seattle. Will definitely go back once the hype dies down.

Yelp
Finally had a chance to stop by and try their beverages everyone has been raving about. If you have the time I think dining in is the way to go cause it's about the experience they offer. I went at a break from work and it was a 12 min bus ride so my time was limited luckily I got there around 8:30 there was a line but it moved fairly quickly. Each drink is made to order and part of the reason for the long lines is the customers trying to make a decision. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and patient. For as crazy busy as it is the space itself is very calming. Limited counter space and a few tatami type tables. I'm more of a hojicha fan, love the roasted flavor. I went with an iced hojicha added the black sesame cream top I also picked up a strawberry matcha 50% sweet with the chiran blend for a lucky friend at work cause if I was going to go all that way and wait in line I had to get more than one beverage. Also picked up one of the canale. I decided not to get a hojicha latte since I was getting the cream top which I personally thought was a perfect choice for me. The canale texture and taste was perfect!! Canales sourced from Sucres. Looking forward to what they have planned for the evening

Yelp
Very delicious Matcha and Hojicha. I honestly like my drinks regular without anything fancy, but today I decided to give it a try! Pick your hot or cold beverage, syrup, filling/topping, and choose your sweetness. I am a Hojicha fan, I got it with black sesame, earl grey, + 50% sweetness. This is more of a tea bark earthy taste. Very unique taste. Didn't need the black sesame. 4/5 Mango matcha with earl grey syrup, regular sweetness. Too sweet for me, and not much tartness but that's just my preference! 3/5 Black sesame matcha with earl grey, regular sweetness was much more heavier and creamy if you will. 3.5/5 Canele - French custard filling pastry. Caramelized on the outside. Crispy and bouncy exterior filled with custard. 4/5 (I LOVE Caneles) All in all! I thought this was a fun experience and I would definitely come back. Thanks!

Yelp
Very cute interior space. Some bar seating and some tables on the ground (you sit on traditional tatami mats). I'm gonna say it- probably my favorite matcha in Seattle (so far). They have great classic flavor combinations but it's obvious they take their matcha seriously. Drinks weren't too sweet but flavors were well balanced. The baristas (match-istas?) were very knowledgeable. I will definitely go out of my way to go back.

Yelp
After hearing all the hype online about this place, we decided to give it a try on a Thursday morning. We arrived about 10 minutes before opening and there was already a line. Once it opened, the owner apologized for the wait and greeted us in. Strawberry Matcha Latte (4/5): we customized it how the employee recommended (jasmine syrup and 50% sweetness). The matcha is definitely strong. We did wish they had a bit more strawberry. By the middle of the drink it tasted like regular matcha. The aesthetic of the place is 10/10. I appreciated how clean the bathrooms were too. All of the employees were super nice.

Yelp
Food /drink: 9/10 Service :10/10 Ambience : 10/10 This matcha place is such a cute spot to meet up with friends. The space is small but have enough sitting if you want to meet up for a quick chat. There are sitting at the bar and some group sitting on the side. Parking is hard to find just base on the location. Matcha is very refreshing and authentic. I also enjoy their hojicha selections. You can customize sweetness which I appreciate. Only small feedback for food is pastry selection. The strawberry sando filling is super yummy but the bread is a little stale/ rough and not as soft but overall still enjoyable!
google avatar

Joy Q.

Yelp
Overhyped Macha spot with long wait. One thing I like was that they have interesting toppings and add a flavors such as black sesame - it was not overly sweet either The line seem to be moving extremely slow, and the barista took their time to make the Matcha. I'm not sure if it's worth the wait, and given the set up and the price, I'd give it a 3.5 star

Yelp
I love the vibe of this place so much and would come back daily if it wasn't in downtown. This place is truly busy every minute of the day, with the quiet period being right around 9-9:15am. The worst part is just how busy it is, which means it gets loud and you have to do your best to not get irritated at the countless number of people stepping on the tatami with their shoes. I don't feel that the drinks are any different compared to what you can get at any other shop that uses premium matcha. There are a lot of cool customizations, but even the cheapest one will put you close to $10/drink. Almost all the customers are in their twenties, most likely still in college, which makes it feel like a big influencer overhype. But this place excels because of the vibe, the decor, and the staff. The staff has so much endurance, patience, and attentiveness, it's truly admirable. I think this place could be really cool if it was more of a quiet room to read, study, or work, with a window for to-go orders. You know, the relaxed elegance it was designed to have. Still worth visiting, and a place I'd definitely take my friends from out of town.

Yelp
The matcha was excellent! The service was very friendly! They really took the time to explain the matcha and gave great recommendations! The strawberry matcha and jasmine syrup was excellent together! Inside was so cute! I didn't like the wait. The line is soooo long, but they were really working hard and there just happens to be a lot of people waiting to try!

Yelp
Taz *June 4, 2025 *8:30am- Wednesday *5 Stars Seating/ Environment: *No parking *Pretty Aesthetic *Loud (when crowded) *Hole-in-the-wall Food/Drink: *Iced Matcha Latte (Chiran Harvest and Charashi Blend) with Oat Milk, Agave, and Matcha Top Cream We checked out Taz Matcha Bar after a friend recommended it (shout out Emily), and it definitely lived up to the hype! We ordered the Chiran and Chashira blend matcha, both were 10/10--super smooth, high quality, and not overly sweet. The server was really helpful in explaining the sweetness levels and walking us through the menu, which was nice since all the drinks are handmade to order. The space itself is pretty small and gets busy fast--we went right at opening and still waited about 15 minutes. It can get a little loud inside, so it was sometimes hard to hear, but the vibe is still relaxed. Seating is limited and low to the ground, Japanese-style, and you'll need to take your shoes off. The restroom was also surprisingly cute, with green matcha-themed walls. We really wished we had more time to come back and try the strawberry matcha--it's definitely on the list for next time!

Yelp
I see so many friends posting this place with long lines and reviews saying 1+ hour waits but I fortunately seen none of those. No lines and almost empty inside on a Thursday 9am, so I hit the jackpot. I got the strawberry matcha latte (Chashi blend) upon recommendation that the Chashi blend is more floral and fragrant despite a $1 surcharge. I opted for regular milk and 50% sweetness upon recommendation. The matcha is really good, and I even got the matcha krispy to make my visit very matcha-ful. The matcha krispy has strong matcha flavor and a bit sweet, but pairs well with the drink. They have countertop seats if you are a small group and low seats for larger groups, both of which fairly aesthetic. I sat at the countertop and immediately someone asks me if I wanted water and I opted to. Throughout my drink, they picked out trash (the straw and wrapper of the krispy) in a timely manner and refilled water. I did not expect actual full service at a matcha / tea place, so this was a nice surprise! Everyone there was super friendly. I guess the prices are quite high - over $10 for a strawberry matcha latte after tax, so they have to prove the value somehow. My only complaint for this place is pricing, since the matcha and service are top notch. I wasn't a fan of how they do the transactions - extra 4% surcharge for credit cards for an already pricy drink. And then they hand the screen with a default 20% tip with multiple steps needed to take to leave a custom tip. I am not docking off a star here solely because of the full service you will receive if you chose to sit down, which I guess bakes in to the 20-30% upcharge compared to other matcha spots. However, I probably wouldn't go out of my way here, but can see this as a once in a while treat.

Yelp
Taz was not on my radar at all. My friend and I were walking to a brunch spot on a Thursday and saw a long line out there door at Taz. I looked it up and got so excited because I love drinking matcha. So after brunch, we got in line and waited outside for about 20-30 minutes. Once inside, you're directed to order at the counter. They offer two different types of ceremonial matcha, as well as hojicha and a few snacks. I got the popular strawberry matcha, and it definitely meets hype! You can take the drink to go, or sit at the bar counter or at a table where you have to take off your shoes. The table seats are low and basically like sitting on the ground. I liked sitting at the counter to chat with the staff. You can watch them make your drink and talk with them to learn more about matcha. They also gave me a little sample of matcha too. Highly recommend this place if you like matcha / green tea. Just be prepared to wait in a long line.

Yelp
There's quite a lot of hype for this place, probably because Seattle is under some sort of unwarranted, uncalled-for matcha fever or something; the lines for this place were long on a Saturday at 1pm when I arrived with my sis. Given I said that, this place is pretty sweet and I'm glad to have had it! This is located not too far from the general Westlake area in downtown, so parking is a doozy; I'd recommend public transportation to get here. The inside is very cozy and not so noisy; there's even two tables that each seat 4 people where you can take your shoes off and relax at, along with limited bar seating where you can watch servers prepare the matcha drinks. Our server who took our order was extremely helpful and gave us both suggestions for how to have our drinks. My sis and I waited about 1 hour and 10 minutes to be at the front door and be called inside, and our drinks came out 8 minutes after ordering. I got the iced strawberry matcha chashi blend at 25% sweetness under the recommendation of my server, while my sis got the iced regular matcha chashi blend at 50% sweetness. We both got regular matcha strength, whole milk and jasmine syrup sweetener, and forwent any cream tops. Our chashi blends were described as "floral and umami" on the menu, and I'd say the matcha taste is strong but smooth on both our drinks; the jasmine sweetener and strawberry in my drink didn't detract from the matcha at all, which I found pleasantly surprising. Our server also gave us a free slice of their matcha pastry, and it was really good especially the outer burnt parts of it. I wish i knew what that pastry was called, though. If I come back here to try something else or even the same thing, I'd rather wait until the current hype dies down. Other than that, I'm happy we have a matcha place in downtown now!
google avatar

Yelp
I got the chasi blend iced matcha latte with the jasmine syrup as sweetener and loved it! I believe the chasi blend was described as floral and umami while the chiran was more earthy. My matcha was very smooth. I was concerned that the jasmine would be too sweet and overpowering, but it was pretty light and didn't take away from the matcha. The cashier noted that their 100% sweetness was more of a 75% compared to other places. My friend got the strawberry matcha and I thought it was pretty strawberry forward. Very nice staff and love that they give you options to choose and customize your drink. Would definitely recommend for a good matcha.

Yelp
small MUST VISIT in downtown! the matcha red bean was good, exactly what you'd expect if u ate red beans and drank matcha. the STRAWBERRY LATTE OH MY GOSH. they add jasmine sweetener shots which make all the difference. u gotta mix the drink bc the first sips r straight up puree but its natural, perfectly sweetened. it's j so perfectly executed. they make drinks right in front u, carefully measuring. oat milk isn't extra and does not water down drink. offer extra shots and adjustments if ur not satisfied. minimal indoor seating, mini japanese style seating and a counter top. came 30min before closing on sunday, 10ish min wait in line BEST THAT WASHINGTON HAS TO OFFER

Yelp
I think Taz is the best matcha place in Seattle. After trying a few of the newer places that opened up I think Taz is my #1. The earthy matcha flavor really shows through in all of the drinks, which is sometimes hard to get. I really enjoyed the matcha latte with jasmine syrup as the sweetener. Service is amazing, which really sets this place apart from other. The staff are super kind and made very thoughtful recommendations on what adjustments to make to your drink depending on what you like and what would taste the best. I love the care they put into each drink. You can watch them create your drink at the bar. They highly encourage you try your drink in the store so they can make more adjustments on sweetness for you. Lines can take a while on the weekend since it is made to order. However, the employee says there is always a slow time during the week, so if you don't want to wait then I would recommend going then. But I am definitely going back whenever!

Jiamae W.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place but after an hour in line and a single $10 drink, I was not impressed. I ended up getting the strawberry matcha with the chashi blend. The drink itself had way too much strawberry for my liking, it took up a whole third of the cup and it overpowered the drink where I wasn't able to get as much matcha flavor, it mostly tasted like strawberry jam. The matcha itself was decent but not as floral and fragrant as I had hoped especially at that price point. Also the service was pretty inconsistent. For all other customers they sat them down and made the drinks in front of them, explained the process and matcha, and gave them waters. As I watched from afar, I was waiting for my turn but then they proceeded to just dump the excess matcha they had from another customer into another cup. That one ended up being mine, no water, no detailed explanation, I wasn't even asked if I wanted to sit.

Yelp
This new matcha shop is a great addition to Seattle's growing matcha scene, conveniently located within walking distance of South Lake Union and the downtown waterfront. When we visited, there was a 15-20 minute wait, and since they're in their soft opening phase, things felt a bit disorganized. Limited seating and a lack of space inside meant the line had to form outside. Once we reached the front, we were asked to step out again to wait, which was understandable but slightly awkward. Ordering was quick, but we weren't asked if we were dining in or taking our drinks to go. We stayed to enjoy the atmosphere and assumed it was self-service. However, the shop actually offers partial table service, including water and a complimentary matcha shot served on a tray--something that could be communicated more clearly. It might help if staff asked about dine-in preferences or if a self-serve water station was added. I ordered the strawberry matcha with a touch of lavender syrup (i did 5% lavendar syrup and 20% strawberry). While the strawberry and lavender were lovely, the matcha flavor was weaker than I'd hoped. We also tried the matcha and black sesame rice crispy onigiris, which were super cute but weren't particularly memorable in flavor. My partner noticed a soapy taste and couldn't finish his, while I found them just okay. Despite the initial hiccups, I'd return to try more drinks and hopefully catch the full menu (egg sandos!!) earlier in the day. There's definite potential here once the operations smooth out.

Yelp
The workers are so good about their line and making sure everyone has space to come in. We each tried something different and everything was so good! I got the red bean matcha with black sesame cold foam, jasmine syrup sweetener, and 25% sweet. The seating inside is either Japanese seating on the mats w/ a table (no shoes) or on the bar counter seating.

Yelp
I am really happy there's a matcha place so close by! There is usually a wait, especially on the weekends, so be prepared to stand in line for a bit. I will admit that Taz is a bit expensive, but this is the best place to get a hojicha around. I don't have a strong opinion on their matcha but the hojicha latte w/ the jasmine syrup is one of my absolute favorites and I recommend that to all my friends. I like their interior as well :)

Yelp
Finally a good matcha shop in downtown Seattle. They still have Soft Opening and the place is pretty small and they have limited tables And they made the matcha w the "chasen" aka Japanese whisk. So dont surprise when you see a long line and wait time ok. Staff was so helpful and friendly. They explained the menu and help me accommodate my drinks with my sweetness craving haha. Also i tried their little match pastry which i forgot what they call but it was so good. I will definitely come back and willing to wait in line for their drinks

Yelp
oh my gosh this matcha place is sooo unique! I was in town for a couple of days and my friend introduced me to this place and I am hooked! they have such unique flavors and I understand why the line is out the door. they only serve matcha and hojicha but I love that you can customize each drink to your liking. I got the drink with 75% sweetness and it was almost too sweet for me so I would recommend 50% sweet. they have such a variety for cream tops and they even have a seasonal cream top (mango at the time). the owner was there while we were in line and he was so nice and friendly. there's limited seating inside so it's more of a grab and go place unless you're lucky enough to find a chair.

Yelp
First off, the employees are super friendly and welcoming!!! The inside of this cafe is decorated beautifully. They had a small menu highlighting their specialties which I thought was really cool and thoughtful. The matcha itself is very customizable to your liking (sweetness & milk you want). The quality of the drinks are amazing! The matcha flavor is very pleasant and smooth. They are very precise with their measurements so everything is super consistent! Will return! :)

Yelp
It's matcha time... My love for matcha is indescribable so when I heard there is a new matcha cafe in town we had to go try it. Taz is located in the heart of downtown Seattle on Stewart St between 4th and 5th Street diagonally across from the old Bon Marche building north east corner. Their matcha drinks are barely sweet or fragrant, but their service was pretty on point even though they had a mishaps with my order and gave me the wrong drink. They were able to provide a service recovery correcting my order with letting me drink the wrong drink and giving me the right one. If you are looking for some authentic matcha from Japan then try them out, but it you are a real matcha fanatic then it might be a hit or miss for you depending on how you like your matcha. Overall it wasn't a bad experience since they are still in their soft opening phase. I will try and visit them again when they are officially open and have a more extensive menu.

Yelp
Super cute interior. The owner is SO nice and the workers are super caring. Everyone really takes the time to explain the menu to you and the difference in the matcha powders they offer. I ordered the strawberry matcha with the chashi blend with oatmilk. They recommended the jasmine syrup as a sweetener and it was really good and unique! I definitely recommend this matcha spot out for those in the Seattle area! The canele was just okay and the egg sando was good, these items are not a must try. There was a line and because it is fairly new and I understand the hype. I don't think anything is worth the long wait, but you should definitely try this place out when the lines are not too long!

Yelp
Taz Matcha is a must go for matcha lovers in Seattle. We ordered the Iced Red Bean Matcha and a Hot Hojicha Latte, both were absolutely delicious. For the matcha, you get to choose between two blends: the Chiran Harvest, which is more earthy, and the Chashi Blend, which leans floral. We went with the Chiran Harvest and loved the deep, rich flavor. We also tried a matcha canelé as a snack, it was okay but didn't quite stand out the same way the drinks did. That said, one of the highlights of our visit was getting to watch the staff prepare the drinks right in front of us. The process was so delicate, adding to the whole experience. The space itself is very zen and spacious, with lots of thoughtful Japanese decor. It's perfect for catching up with friends or simply enjoying a quiet moment with a great cup of matcha. Although one thing I'd call out is that the drinks are on the pricier end.

Yelp
Had to drop by this place after seeing all the hype about it, and I'm glad I did! I got the strawberry matcha with the matcha cream top and it was delicious, with a perfectly subtle sweetness and well-balanced flavors overall. The service is also phenomenal! The baristas were very friendly and personable and created a welcoming atmosphere. The only downside is the line (we waited maybe 20 minutes), but it's worth it!

Yelp
Soft opening review for Taz - downtown's newest matcha cafe! The team was incredibly friendly, and one of the partners gave us a tasting of the two matcha types. The space is beautifully decorated, welcoming, and so cute. I love the artwork on the walls. I ordered the red bean matcha latte with oat milk, 50% sweet. Sooo delicious and the perfect amount of matcha - generous and earthy but not overpowering. Our drinks were handmade at the bar and they explained the whole process to us. They use a local milk company too but also have an oat milk option. They have a jasmine syrup as a sweetener. Overall love love love Taz! Will be back again during their soft opening hours and I'm already looking forward to when they're fully open :)

Yelp
didnt expect to like this place (i'm very picky with my matcha) BUT LOVED IT! 10/10 recommend and get the jasmina syrup -- it's so good! the interior is so cute and you get to watch them make the matcha infront of you! very cute and would love to go again

Yelp
Such delicious and beautiful matcha. We got the strawberry matcha and red bean matcha, both with jasmine syrup and 50% sweetness. We also got matcha foam on the strawberry matcha and sesame foam on the red bean matcha. They were both delicious, and I loved the sesame foam. The quality of the matcha powder itself is great -- concentrated and earthy. The atmosphere is also cozy and calm. Would love to come again!

Yelp
The matcha at Taz is very good! I appreciate that they have different blends and strengths of matcha, and you can adjust your milk, sweetener, and sweetness level! They don't even charge extra for oat milk. They also have different cream tops to choose from, including a weekly special, such as banana or kinako. All of our drinks were very good and the matcha flavor was rich and not bitter. Having add ins such as strawberry or cream top tend to take away from the matcha flavor, so if you're a true matcha lover, I'd recommend going without too many add ins or increase the strength of the matcha. The shop itself is very cute, but has limited seating. The store is still quite busy, but I only waited about 20 minutes in total on a Thursday at 12pm. The store is still technically in their "soft opening" phase, so they close pretty early at 2:30pm, but now they serve sake and food at night, so be on the lookout for that! The staff were very friendly and fast. Pro tip: ask the cashier how sweet your drink would be before adjusting your sweetness level! I got a strawberry matcha with a banana cream top, and according to the cashier, the strawberry and cream were already pretty sweet, so I honestly wouldn't need to add much sugar. And she was right! It was still perfectly sweet without adding extra sweetener. Would definitely recommend Taz Matcha if the wait isn't too long or you're really craving a solid matcha!

Yelp
It's exciting to see new matcha places open up downtown. Taz has been open for about a month now, so expect long lines. I waited 2 hours on a sunny weekend morning. When you get inside, it's an upscale matcha bar. I got a seat at the bar and was able to watch them make my matcha in front of me. They also have tatami seating on the floor, similar to Japan. You can personalize the matcha to your liking based on the type of blend, sweetness and other additions. I got a chashi blend matcha latte with regular milk and blueberry foam. I enjoyed it a lot. I was able to bring my dog here and she enjoyed a pup cup. I'd come back here.

Yelp
Really, really good matcha! I got the strawberry matcha with oatmilk, 50% sweetened with agave. The strawberry was perfect, not too sweet or overpowering. The matcha still came through and had a great flavor and consistency. They only have one matcha powder at the moment as the other one sold out but should be getting both back soon. I will be back to try the hojicha and other matcha blend! The staff are really friendly, and my drink was prepared right away. I didn't wait long. Parking is tough. There's a paid lot nearby and some street parking in front. Taz is a must-try if you love matcha.

Yelp
Got here at like 8:05 (5 minutes after they opened) and it was already pretty busy, by the time we left there was a line out the door. Overall the vibe of the spot was very nice and calm and cool. They had low tables which was cool and where you're not supposed to wear shoes (there wasn't a sign so I didn't know so I had to be told oops). Overall the food and drinks were good. The matcha rice krispy was strong in matcha tasting, we had previously had one somewhere else that wasn't nearly as strong so we were happy about that. We got the half sweet strawberry matcha and my friend and I thought it wasn't sweet enough for us so probs would bump it up next time, my friend said for the classic matcha she think she'd need 100% which she doesn't get at other matcha spots. Overall would try again!

Yelp
found my new fav matcha spot! starting off with service, the owner himself takes the time to explain the menu to each person and take down the order while waiting in line to streamline the ordering process. at the door you're asked if you will be taking out or dining in, the japanese style seating inside is so cute! vivian our server greeted us with a warm welcome and water. she let us try matcha sample of the chiran harvest and chashi blend. it was cool to learn from our server that this new spot is viet family-owned and run! now onto the matcha and foods! i tried the strawberry matcha with 75% sweetness, jasmine syrup, whole milk, chiran harvest. it was great!! i like chiran harvest more for the more earthy stronger taste, compared to the chashi blend which is a smoother lighter taste. overall i like how you can customize sweetness my group and i loved trying the jasmine sweetener. tried the rice krispy treats both matcha and black sesame, really liked the matcha krispy! egg sando was ok, would like to see if they add more to their food menu. lastly the line, on saturday 5/10 i waited for an hour from 11:30am. located right by the light rail. id say its worth waiting in line for because of the great quality of matcha and service!

Yelp
Unbelievably the best matcha I've had out... no exaggeration. Worth it completely to go out early in the day & queue for a beverage. The service is impeccable, everyone helps you with your questions, and the owner is SO kind and welcoming. Really feels like you're just "home" enjoying stranger's company. And the delicious beverages are just the plus ;') Their matcha is earthy, smooth and creamy: they have 2 tea blends and if you have any questions, it's all written out on the menu the tasting notes!! But staff was so quick to help ensure you get your perfect blend. I drink matcha quite a lot so I opted for the more robust flavor profile and changed up my order each time I went, since they have seasonal flavors, etc. So cozy in there as well -- little tables to the ground (shoes off) where you can sit and high top counter where you can watch them make your matcha bevs. Really worth it and congrats to this small biz for really doing it right

Yelp
i came here on thursday morning around 8:30a and waited in line for about 30 minutes. there is someone that will let you into the store to help manage the line and so that it's not too crowded! the baristas are super kind and took the time to explain everything on the menu. i got the strawberry matcha with the chiran blend. i opted for 50% sweetness per their suggestion but honestly i could've done 0%. overall i enjoyed the drink but the strawberry flavor was pretty overpowering and i couldn't really taste any matcha flavor. i would love to come back to try the other drinks and matcha blend as well as the cold foams.

Yelp
I was on a quick trip to Seattle and stumbled across this new matcha cafe nearby our hotel. It was so good I came here two days in a row! The matcha was so fresh and clean. The staff was also very nice and patient with us ordering since there were two different kinds of matcha powder and different adjustments like sweeteners, foams, and milks that you can customize. I don't like my matcha's too sweet so I was glad the staff provided me suggestions. I highly recommend if you are in Seattle, and I will definitely keep this on my list of recommendations to visit!

Yelp
Best green tea in Seattle. We got both the strawberry green tea and a special that had banana and green tea and both were amazing! We also got a couple of the pastries which tasted like rice crispy treats which were also delish Will definitely be back soon
