5 Exciting Things To Do & Eat In NYC Between December 8th-14th

"At any given time, Temperance Wine Bar offers 100+ selections on its wine list. But, eventually, you’ll have to take the party home, and this Friday’s pop-up event at the bar has a few fun things for that. Temperance invited Prospect Heights bakery Der Pioneer to sell their seasonal Christmas stollen on the premises, and you’ll also be able to grab Temperance wine openers, drop stops, and other items you’ll need to enjoy the wines you pair with your stollen. Place your order online, and stop by to pick up your goods at Temperance between 4-6 pm on Friday December 3rd, 10th, and 17th." - neha talreja

18 Top Outdoor Drinking Spots in NYC - Eater NY

"It can be difficult to decide which wine to order at Temperance when there are more than 100 wines by the glass to choose from. An easier decision is to grab a seat at one of the communal tables along Carmine Street or in the more mellow backyard patio. Indoors or outdoors, the vibe is more relaxed than some stuffier wine bars around town. The friendly sommeliers can offer recommendations to pair with snacks like cacio e pepe cheese puffs, shareable plates of duck meatballs, or sauteed garlic shrimp. Brunch and dinner reservations are available." - Eater Staff

Temperance Wine Bar - Review - West Village - New York - The Infatuation

"Temperance in the West Village offers over 100 wines by the glass, which means you can drink a range of things like a nutty-savory French white or order a bottle of something that tastes as though a can of kombucha dressed up to go out on a Saturday night. Between the big, hidden backyard and helpful staff, consider Temperance the most useful new bar for a wine-fueled date night in the area. It also works when you want to hang out with a couple friends outside in the West Village without having to navigate the masses perched on sidewalk cafes. Glasses start at $12 and go as high as $50-ish for something like a Champagne brut rosé." - Hannah Albertine

Friend and I caught the tail end of happy hour on a Thursday. Our waitress was fantastic and helped tremendously with wine selection. We gave her a few flavor profiles we were both interested in and she came back with two amazing options. We ended up splitting a bottle. Unfortunately I cannot remember what it was, but it was delicious and I don’t have a hangover :). We also split the steak tartare and this was some of the best I’ve had!!! I wanted to order 5 more plates. Such a good spot for a chill night with good eats and drinks. Would love to come in and read a book for a few hours here or come do a wine tasting event.

Google
Temperance is one of my absolute favorite wine bars in the city, and I've been multiple times for drinks, dinner, and their private event wine tastings. The food, service, and ambiance are always so nice. I recently hosted a dinner party in their private dining area and it was a great experience. They include unlimited wine along with selections of food family style, and the team was so friendly, explaining the different wine types and always making sure our glasses were topped up. Highly recommend!

Google
Had a great time here! Very cute space with a great selection of drinks + food, I loved the variety. Our waitress (I think Morgan) was also so kind and friendly and was able to recommend me a wine that I really enjoyed! Will def be coming back!!

Google
Temperance is a great find. We planned a visit to a nearby vegan pizza place and strolled a few minutes to check out its wine selection. Nestled amongst a throng of casual dining outlets, it delights as soon as you enter. There's a lot more space than you expect in NYC, with a comfortable mix a booths, tables, and bar seating. The wine list is amazing. Our wine server new her stuff, listened to our preferences and delivered a selection of 4 amazing glasses. Every wine was spectacular, often breaking the stereotype for wines from their region to overdeliver on complexity and elegance (my preferred styles). Service was great. We were very happy. I'd recommend following the Temperance suggestions at the beginning of the wine list. Try them! You won't be disappointed.

Google
Service was attentive but not intruding, excellent check-in pacing. The fries were top tier which is surprising from a wine bar, a wonderful surprise. The atmosphere is buzzy, but a little loud for casual conversation. The selection is expansive and the server guided me through it well and I discovered a couple of wines I may not have otherwise. Cheers!

Google
the vibes are SO GOOD. there’s a good amount of bar and table seating. awesome wine selection and they let you taste a little before you commit to a glass. def want to be back

Google
Temperance Wine Bar is a true gem! This enchanting spot boasts an incredible, well-curated wine list that caters to every palate. With a focus on natural wines, organic options, and contemporary flavors, there's something for everyone to discover. The food is equally impressive, with tasty small plates that perfectly complement the extensive wine selection. The ambiance is cool and inviting, making it an ideal spot for a night out with friends or a romantic evening. What truly sets Temperance apart, however, is the friendly and knowledgeable staff. Their expertise and passion for wine are evident, and they're always happy to guide you through the menu. Highly recommended for wine enthusiasts and newcomers alike! Temperance Wine Bar is an absolute must-visit destination.

Google
Excellent selection of wines with attentive and knowledgeable service at the bar. Expect NYC wine prices here. The decor and neon vibe is eclectic and intentional, (personally I did not find the atmosphere to be warm or inviting for an intimate or low key date night). Friendlg staff, clean spot, seating outside too and greaf for groups. Enjoy!

Yelp
This is such a cute and vibey wine bar. My friend and I got lucky and snagged a table here at around 9 pm on a Friday night. We had a great time chatting away for 2 hours drinking our wine. And might I add the wine list was so fun. I never knew white merlot even existed! I am looking forward to coming back here with my fiance soon. I think he would love it.

Yelp
This is such a cute wine bar. It's one of my favorite places to come and hangout if we have extra time in the West Village. They have such an amazing selection of wines from all over the world. Temperance was one of the few places that carried multiple types of Orange wine before it became popular. They are also able to do wine flights. I also love their snacks. They compliment the wine so well and they have a lot of variety for vegetarians. The ambiance here is also casual elegance which is perfect. They also have seating outside which is so nice especially during a summer afternoon. Service: Aida was so nice and helpful.

Yelp
Visited for their happy hour. Such a cute and lovely space for meeting friends or even grabbing a solo beverage. I noticed they have a backyard space as well but it wasn't open with the ongoing rain and windy weather. We tried two bottles of staff pick wines. Both nice, I'm not a wine person so maybe trust someone else's take on the details. Light nights and plates were perfect for sharing. We shared the veal croquets, fries with delicious aioli, cheese plate and olives. All were delightful. Our waiter was super friendly and easy going. Check out the Powder Room!

Yelp
Cute wine bar in the West Village. We had to wait about an hour to get seated on a Friday night around 10pm. The vibe inside is 80's retro. The QR codes for the menu don't scan too well but the wine list is solid. We enjoyed sharing a bottle of wine for 4 that was reasonably priced. The wine glasses were cute too. Our waiter was attentive and constantly refilling our water & pouring us wine. Nothing to write home about, but worth a visit if you're in the area.

Yelp
OBSESSED with this wine bar. My favorite is the Staff Picks list on their website, the way they describe the wine really helped and sold me. A friend and I stopped for a pre-dinner drink and had a great time relaxing and trying fun natural wines. They offer old bay popcorn for munching which is always nice so you don't get super drunk on an empty stomach. The bathroom has disco balls. We sat at the bar and got to talk about wines with the bartender who was super helpful and lovely we tipped extra. A cool spot in the West Village and would happily come back for HH or to spend more time drinking and eating, they have a dinner menu.

Yelp
Temperance wine bar is perfect spot to hang out with friends. We asked for a table for 4 and we were seated in 10 minutes. This was on a Saturday night. Both of my friends liked the wine they ordered. I had the Saratoga sparkling water. I see that the other reviewers loved the whipped ricotta focaccia. I thought that dish was delicious too. If you decide to go to Temperance, check out their "powder room." It looks like you are inside a disco ball.
google avatar

Yelp
After dinner, we came by this wine bar for some drinks. Our group shared a bottle of orange wine ($65), which was nice and refreshing. They also offered some complimentary Old Bay popcorn, which was nice. The space has nice and chic vibes. Great if wine is your thing, but not somewhere I'd find myself often personally. The waiter was friendly and great with recommending drinks for us though.
google avatar

Hari K.

Yelp
Pretty solid wine bar that always feel crowded but got a table quite easily on a Tuesday evening. The wine list is extensive and I especially like that they listed their staff favorite picks. Chose one of them that was reasonably priced at $15 and it was pretty solid. Nothing to write home about this place but it is solid, decor is vibey, and it gets the job done.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped in at Temperance Wine Bar for some wine before dinner nearby when we were in NYC for a long weekend a few weeks ago. It was such a great place to spend an hour or so - just chatting and drinking and relaxing! First off - the wine list. So varied and interesting. I love that they had staff picks (whole paragraph descriptions that really sell you on trying them) and flights (design your own or have them selected for you - three 2.5 oz pours starting at $35). (They also offer more formal guided tastings if you send them an email or call them to set it up and happy hour specials some weekday evenings)! However, we were just there for a couple of glasses of wine each, and we were really happy by the selection! Unlike some other wine bars, they offer everything listed on their menu by the glass! They have such a good variety, too; the menu is split into "Vibe of the Moment," "Break the Bank," Bubbles, Skin-Contact, White, Red, Rose, Aperitive, Sweet Wine, Fortified, Sherry, and Other (right now, it's one sake and one makgeoli)! I can't remember what I ordered anymore, but I remember enjoying it! My friend enjoyed her wines as well. The service was also great (we sat at the bar), and the bartender/servers were great - friendly, helpful, great to chat with. The space is cool - comfortable and cool without feeling over the top! FYI: They have food but since we stopped by for pre-dinner drinks, we stuck to the wine and the complimentary popcorn they brought to us. Overall, it was just a great wine bar to spend an hour or two chatting and drinking! Would happily return for pre-dinner drinks or other drinks (when do I not want wine) in the future when I'm in the West Village!

Yelp
AMAZING experience!! Came for the Wednesday night blind tasting flight, and it was SO FUN!! We actually missed the happy hour by SECONDS, but the waitress was super friendly and accommodating. The tasting was $25 for three half glasses. The blind tasting was a whole experience. They bring out a sheet where you can jot down notes about the wines and try to guess the region/country it's from! I'm not the most knowledgeable about wines, so obviously had no good guesses, but the waitress did an amazing job explaining everything! It honeslty felt like a mini lesson within the tasting!! The decor was amazing as well. The vibes are sooo good, and it was a nice spot to chill. The food smelled amazing as well, I'll be back to try it next time!! Could not recommend the blind tasting enough though, super fun activity and great value!!
google avatar

Christina S.

Yelp
Groovy wine bar with such unique and flavorful wines. I recommend coming on a Wednesday and testing your palette at a blind tasting. The food and wines are all great. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Don't forget to check out the disco bathroom before leaving.
google avatar

Jenna I.

Yelp
Torn about this place because on one hand it's fun and funky in a good way -- be sure to visit the disco ball bathroom -- plus it does have a great wine list. And I mean, it's a wine bar right? That's really what we're here for. If you want to go on a little date night this feels like a solid choice, everything about it kind of screams "fun night out." Service is very friendly and attentive as well, gives it all a slightly upscale flare. So what's my beef with the place? Well... it's the food! Not that it's bad, it's not bad at all. But for their $14+ prices for "shareable plates" that come out barely enough for one person has me kinda side-eyeing this place. Like if you get the charcuterie it's like four slices of prosciutto, four slices of pickled carrot, jam and mustard and then like maybe six pieces of Melba toast that are like 2inches long and full of large air holes. Then you have to order each cheese separately, sure fine, at $10 a pop for what comes out as another 2 inch slice of cheese (Cabot cheddar is one of the options lol) that one person could easily eat in a single bite. We even got the hummus which -- while delicious, pesto-y -- also came out with a handful of slices of various tiny vegetable crudités that were no way enough to actually finish even half the hummus provided leaving you and your dining partner to eventually just kind of eat it with a fork. All of this to say, look nobody expects to fill up on shareable plates entirely in lieu of real dinner -- and this place does offer full pasta dishes here that I did not try for what it's worth -- but come on. On one hand, I get it Temperance, you want me to go on a diet. But in the meantime you would do well to provide some actual bread or at least triple the amount of baby crackers so I can actually share the dish you gave me with some dignity instead of trying to eat it in nibbles like a tiny mouse who lives in a dollhouse. ANYHOW. Look it's whatever. I'd probably come back here and order only wine and nothing else.

Yelp
Cute well decorated and great ambiance , a good choice to hang out with your significant other or to chat. We found them on YELP and loved. Chose a good Armenian Wine they had with some snacks . Service Was great, We were visiting so no cars to talk about Parking space availability

Yelp
I had such a great experience here. My friend and I barely missed happy hour by 10 minutes - oh well. We came at 6:10 pm on a Friday and didn't have a reservation and were seated right away. It's super cute inside and has a 60s/70s vibe. It's kind of loud in here, so hard to make conversation. What we ordered - French fries - My only complaint is that they don't give you enough sauce. These are skinny fries, good for snacking but not the best fries I've ever had. - Moscatel (off-dry) - I really liked this and had 2 glasses. It's not too sweet and was refreshing.
google avatar

Kaley R.

Yelp
This is the place I've been needing (and now go to way too often). Temperance is super cute, fun, and has an eclectic vibe inside with very chill seating. The staff is always excited to help guide you and make suggestions if you tell them what you like or what you're looking for. I love that the wine list is so long (and has introduced me to lots of cool wines), but I also just love that the staff is well versed in wine and can make selections for you if it's too much to decide. Especially for those of us with decision paralysis Some of my favorite food menu items have been the Fra Diavolo (incredible), ricotta focaccia, cacio e pepe arancini, and the fries. Lots of options for sharing and good options for a full meal. The perfect spot for someone who's into wine and learning about wine, but also for someone who just likes drinking it. A great spot to catch up with a group of friends, have a friend date, or a date date.
google avatar

Jen L.

Yelp
Oh the wine was delicious! I left it to the house to help pick and she was incredible and spot on in choosing wines for me after a few questions. Ummm, yes to the food. The supper baby cut french fries were divine as well as the whipped ricotta on cute little focaccia. Smaller than expected portion but totally worth it!
google avatar

Alex H.

Yelp
Temperance Wine Bar in the West Village is a bustling wine bar serving stellar wines from a broad menu and delicious shareables and pastas in a modern designed space. For dinner we started off cheese-heavy with Cacio e pepe arancini, whipped ricotta focaccia and burrata. For mains we had the carbonara, fra diavolo and Caesar salad. We love wine bars where the food is as good as the wine selection. Catch us hear for some more "slutty" glasses of wine
google avatar

Cyrus A.

Yelp
I love Temperance, such a great wine bar! They have a MASSIVE wine list, and still manage to make wine approachable with their fun menu descriptions and their helpful staff. The space gives off a modern vibe, with a mix of table seating and a bar area, all in a bright interior. It's an upbeat, almost quirky setting for good wine and lighter fare. Like any wine bar, prices vary based on selection, but I'd say overall it's a little pricier. Expect somewhere around $19-$20 per glass, on average. As someone who doesn't drink wine often, I really appreciate the way Temperance makes wine fun, while still offering extensive selection for those more discerning drinkers. Truly an excellent spot to check out!
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Ive been here at least 4 times now, it's my absolute favorite spot to catch up with friends with some of the best wine I've had! The ambience here is amazing and the wine recommendations are top notch. They have such an amazing and diverse selection of wines. Take a good read at the menu, the staff picks are truly amazing (and quite entertaining might i add) This will always be my go-to spot to take my friends for a good evening catchup over wine and hot goss
google avatar

Valerie N.

Yelp
My first visit earlier this year was a 5 star. Second visit, closer to a 4. The service is still great and the ambiance, lovely. The food unfortunately has gone downhill since I first came. Or perhaps, they had an off evening. Deviled eggs: amazing. Just as good as the first time and would order this again and again. Caesar salad with chicken added: this was so good the first time because it had a good, balanced anchovy flavor. This time, it was nonexistent which is a shame because that's integral to a good Caesar salad. I'd order it again if it was the quality of my first visit. Second visit, absolutely not. Cacio pepe arancini: good! I'd eat these again. Duck Meatballs: these were good too. Wine: their wine is extensive. I tried their yeasty wine (can't recall the proper name) and it is very full bodied and complex in a unique (good!) way. Worth a try!
google avatar

Israt A.

Yelp
Very small space, but as is to be expected of the West Village. The server was very knowledgeable and patient in recommending wines. My friend really enjoyed the cheeses she tried and the beef meatballs. The delicatta squash was really creamy and slight spicy. Overall I would come back for a little appetizer and glass of wine if I was in the mood.

Yelp
What an interesting place. Made a reservation for Saturday afternoon brunch for 2 around 2pm. We were greeted and sat right upon arrival, and this is a very fun place. The entire atmosphere is vibrant and exciting. The music was right up my alley 90's, 80's and the decor was stunning. Ordered the Uova Patate Speck and Lebanese Lamb Burger. We also got two different wines, but I cannot recall which ones. This really is a wine bar, their menu is extensive. A bit overwhelming for a novice like myself. The server was very good at explaining stuff as the Uova Patate Speck I had to google! Everything was very tasty, the Lamb Burger was cooked on the medium rare side, in case you like it a bit more done, this wasn't asked upon placing the order. Now the best part, upon settling the check my other party went to the restroom. Upon return, he asked if I needed to go, which I didn't. He then replied, you need to go...and take your phone. Ummmm ok. Walked over and upon opening the door started to laugh/giggle at myself. Upon turning around to close the door, I saw our server and the manager watching me and they started to laugh with me. I can only imagine how many times they see my reaction a day. This bathroom is amazing...I don't want to ruin anything in my review, just know it's worth the stop in. And don't forget your phone when you go. I let everyone I know about this bathroom....so unique.

Yelp
I went with friends for the blind wine tasting! The waiter was so friendly and made the whole experience so awesome. My friends and I had minimal wine knowledge so he also took the time to teach us about the wines we were drinking. The foods we ordered were all really great! Highly recommend if you're planning to visit!
google avatar

Raphael P.

Yelp
Excellent wine bar with great food but the star of the experience was the impeccable service. The waitress answered all of our questions with a lot of enthusiasm and let us try a multitude of wines. Awesome selection of wines and great ambience. The food is great as well, highly recommend the ricotta toast (forgot what it is called) and the arancini. Those pair very well with any wine you drink.
google avatar

Nancy N.

Yelp
A beautiful spot to hangout in the village when you are craving some amazing wine, delicious nosh and warm hospitality! The flow of the whole space is super welcoming and just seamless and interesting. We sat by the open window on a warm October evening and the vibe was perfect. Our servers were very knowledgeable with wines and gave superb recommendations! The food selections were also great considering it is a small menu everything we order we loved. Highly recommend the Sardine and Butter as one of my friends described it brought her back the the streets of Portugal. Guys run don't walk while you can still get a reservation here because this place is going to blow up NYC style. Just go NOW.
google avatar

Mallika G.

Yelp
First time I've come here and it is AMAZING! So many wines to choose from and the bartenders are so good about recommending the right things for what you are looking for. ALSO, it is very affordable and you won't be slapped with a more than $20 glass of wine without being told. But this wine bar also has amazing deviled eggs. Legit the best I've ever had so you must order with the wine
google avatar

Hannah M.

Yelp
Pretty lukewarm on this place if I'm being completely honest. It's a cool vibe on the inside for sure although almost feels a little tacky almost kinda like they're trying a little too hard to have that sort of quirky interior that's become a little too commonplace in the West Village. It just seems like they're following the zeitgeist rather than doing their own thing. I will say, there are a decent number of wines on tap in the $10-$12 range, and they have plenty of small plates on the menu, so if your goal is to go somewhere cute with a few friends for cheap ish drinks and apps, it hits the spot on that regard. We tried a few things on the menu - the fries were good, but they didn't have ketchup(??) and the aioli was $3 extra, which seems outrageous. Caesar salad was a fun presentation but was more attractive to the eyes than it was an actually good salad. Anyway, unfortunately I don't think I'd rush back. Maybe would consider revisiting if a friend really wanted to try it but I wouldn't push for it.
google avatar

Ji Lin Z.

Yelp
A cute wine bar with a great selection of wine. The staff is knowledge and will help you out with the menu. Their wine flights are great for trying out wines and they're happy to adjust based on your liking. Overall great vibes. It's a bit less crowded than other wine bars, also a bit less of an intimate ambience.
google avatar

Marijke K.

Yelp
Fun vibe and great wine list! Our server was super helpful in picking out wines (and offering a sub). Some of the glasses definitely side of the pricier side so beware!
google avatar

Katie T.

Yelp
Great place. Looks very nice inside; we ended up getting a table right in front of the open window and it was perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine and people watch. The service was incredible. Hostess was very nice, even though we had trouble deciding where we want to sit and switched a table once, and so was our waitress. She was very knowledgeable and has offered/ recommended us some wine to try based on what we typically like, before we committed to a glass. Great location, great wine, great service, great ambiance. Would definitely come back!
google avatar

Sandy Y.

Yelp
Their HH is worth! $30 for a 4 glass wine tasting and $25 for a little snack/sampler (comes w a glass of wine!). On the louder side for a wine bar but that's expected for the area.
google avatar

Samantha B.

Yelp
Even though this place has a really great, relaxed yet modern vibe, I don't know that I'll be returning. We stopped in for a glass of wine and enjoyed the recommendations from the bartender. I asked for a soda or anything non alcoholic after my first drink and the only options were espresso and sparkling water. I opted for sparkling water. The bartender proceeded to open a wine bottle sized bottle of sparkling water and never told me I was expected to pay for the entire bottle. $11 for sparkling water (when i just wanted a glass). You can get a case of those bottles for $22, insanity. Then he took the cap away so i couldn't even take it with me. Then, when we asked for the bill, the default options for tipping started at 22%! We had 3 glasses of wine and a bottle of water, that certainly doesn't constitute 22%, so ballsy. Yes, we could change it, but when they're standing there it's very rude and you feel the pressure.
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
Been here many times and will continue to go! Amazing selection of wines and small bites. Very knowledgeable staff!! Also was recently ranked as one of the best wine lists of the world by World of Fine Wine

Eve L.

Yelp
Such a cute little spot! Great ambiance & great service! If you are looking for a chill cute little wine bar for a GNO check this place out! Great appetizers too!!
google avatar

Matthew H.

Yelp
Overall I really liked this new bar. With quite literally a hundred wines by the glass, you probably will too. Our waiter was exceptionally knowledgeable about the different wines and regions, given the sheer expansiveness of the wine list. The have small bites although they aren't super vegetarian friendly.

Margaret H.

Yelp
I've been 5+ times and it's the food that keeps on bringing me back! My favorites are the whipped ricotta focaccia, the deviled eggs, the steak tartare, the carbonara and the chocolate mousse!
google avatar

Zack H.

Yelp
To start off this wonderful experience, Briann S was our waitress and gave one of the best dine in experiences I've had in a very long time. Extremely friendly, attentive, and kind. Following that, the ambiance of this place is to die for. The cool lightning, art on the wall, and furniture makes you want to sit there and chat with friends for hours. AND I HAVENT EVEN GO TO THE DRINKS OR FOOD. They have 100+ wines to choose from. Endless possibilities and a unique selection. We also got the deviled eggs, charcuterie, cauliflower and lamb burger. The deviled eggs were delicious and the cauliflower was some of the best I've had. The only down side is that the lamb burger was lacking with the meat. It's a lot of bun and what looks like 5 ounces of meat for $18, not worth it. Overall, incredible experience, extremely friendly staff and great wine. Five stars all the way!!!

Calvin W.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place because the vibe was good, and the wine was alright, but pricy. It seems like wine are near $20 a glass. My problem is they have made a conscious decision to set the tip % on the payment terminal at 22% as the lowest option. My response to this decision is I will make a conscious choice not to come again. Yes, I could adjust it manually but your people are standing next to me waiting with the card machine and I don't appreciate the new standard you are trying to set.

Yelp
I came to Temperance Wine Bar for an industry event for women and had a great time! The service is amazing - the servers really know their wines and are patient and friendly, not intrusive at all and just the right amount of interruption to educate folks on wines. There is an outdoor area in the back that is a bit hidden but super nice on a warm day. My girlfriends and I grabbed a table there and had a great time! Will definitely come back for future events and just to grab some wine and snacks.
google avatar

Jin C.

Yelp
The best thing about Temperance is their broad selection of less common wines - that all come in glass portions! It's always disappointing to go to a place with a purportedly amazing wine list, but only to learn that 90% of those wines require you to purchase in a bottle. The sommelier I had was knowledgeable and attentive. We sat at the bar (whose seats have no back, if you're wondering) and there was the WSET tasting notes to reference. That's how you know they're into it! I got the duck meatballs, garlic shrimp, and deviled eggs. That they were all served in ceramic tagines meant that the food stayed hot despite our dawdling conversation! Amazing. I loved the piquancy of the smoked paprika on the deviled eggs, and the garlic shrimp was simply per perfectly cooked, where the shrimp had a slight bite but tender on the inside. Duck meatballs didn't taste distinctly like duck, but it was a juicy and moist one. Lots of fun people watching too, in this joint. Take advantage of their wine tastings before it hits prime time!

Yelp
I really really wanted to like this place and was so excited to come here. However, it was pretty disappointing. Though they have 100+ wines, the server was not helpful in finding me a wine that I liked. Ugh! I wanted something that's light, not to acidic and slightly fruit forward. Two painstaking options were presented to me. I literally may have had the worst wine of 2022 at a wine bar, expected better.

Yelp
It was a Friday night and we didn't have a reservation for drinks before dinner but luckily found this absolute gem! It has a very 50s retro feel and I could see this place being a great go-to spot for locals in the village. They have a massive selection of wine and even have more "rare" types like chilled reds, orange, and sherry. My girlfriend and I each got a wine flight (love that they offer this!) and thoroughly enjoyed each glass!!

Yelp
Wanted to try this place because it looked cute and quirky. Didn't realize it was primarily a wine bar and went in for cocktails but the cocktail menu was really limited and pricey, even for the neighborhood. Also found the crowd to be kind of pretentious. The highlight of the experience was looking at the scratch and sniff cannabis book they had on the bookshelf while we were waiting.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick glass of wine. The staff were friendly and attentive. I enjoyed some apps and went to a show. The prices were also reasonable for NYC! Worth checking out.

Yelp
We were able to walk in and get back patio seats on a beautiful Friday evening. The wine list is funky, unique, and fully available for pours by the glass, and offers a great way to try some new and unusual things. There were also four wine/shochu cocktails, of which two were unavailable due to a lack of certain ingredients. The staff was friendly and informative, and helped deftly select wines for us to try based on our preferences. This is a great communal spot as both inside and out are spacious and set up well for groups.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVE temperance! The ambiance is cool and modern. The staff was friendly and very accommodating during my time here. We had 2 glasses each and shared some fries which were very good. The menu is really thorough and you really can't go wrong

Yelp
Great extensive wine-by-the-glass selection but pastas were undercooked. Lovely place to try amazing wines, can also order flights. May have been an off night, but I would probably skip the food

Yelp
Wonderful addition to the neighborhood! Dare I say I enjoyed the wine and more importantly, the service more than neighboring wine bars like Anfora and Lelabar. Though I suppose the right way to look at this is the more the merrier! The wine list is excellent and the staff is friendly, attentive, and really knows their stuff, whether you're in the mood for something super funky, squeaky clean, or you just don't know and need a rec. The food is okay (I recommend the spicy deviled eggs and stuffed poblanos; skip the goat) but let's be real, you're here for the wine. Only qualm was the noise level in the smaller back room by the windows, but we were moved to the main dining area, which was much better. Outdoor patio area is peaceful too.

Yelp
You're a sophisticated, beautiful, woman with eclectic tastes Megan you don't have to order rose....so I started the night off with a sparkling rose from of all places Long Island. It was delicious. It brought me back to nights at Crows nest in the summer. Thank god Temperance has waaay better vibes. This is like if pulp fiction took place in a wine bar. There are some bros here but Rach swore they're all gay, she had a lime green blazer on and honestly that color looks terrible on everyone so it could have just been that. Anywho onto the drinks. The bartender took us on a journey through France and northern Italian whites. It sounded a lot like Rach and I ok study abroad in Florence circa 2008. First up was Jean-luc a Chenin blanc. He was full bodied and a bit oaky, he smelled like a grandpa. Probably bc all his sweaters were his grandpas I don't think his family had anything new, you know the type a chateau in the country and a city house in the 17th. I finished with him quick, he was good on paper but just boring with, I mean on the tongue. Next up was Mattia, a Petilia Fiano. All you can smell or taste is smoke. Every girl goes through this phase. He has a scooter. He's a tad dangerous but it's mesmerizing being with him in Florence. You try smoking cigarettes with him but then you pick up your favorite Loro sweater in the morning and it smells like his MS' and you immediately call it off. No sex is worth ruining good cashmere. I wanted a 2nd glass but i just couldn't risk it as I had my Loro cape on. Then was "JB" a Domaine leflaive batard-Montrachet...god I wanted to marry him. He was big, and bold but was soo elegant the way only an old monied French man can be. He wore YSL everywhere for god sakes....he knew he was the best thing to happen to me and would go hot and cold for weeks. I think I accidentally chugged this wine I just kept the cup in my hand never putting it down. I went to order another round and the waiter informed me the price...I scanned the bar for a dude to buy me another but as Rach noted they were all gay so despite my outfit that would have any straight man rushing to Tiffany's (for those who care: navy mini slip dress from revolve, oversized jcrew blazer, fake librarian glasses, penny loafers and the secret weapon I stole my dads 1960s Rolex Daytona..the guys love this thing) it yielded me nothing. I did have a nice chat about how Jonathan Adler is a bit much but that yielded no extra batard. I'm coming back, with a date to get more batard...ooo JB
