Calgary Is a Culinary Destination on the Rise

"A buzzing, vegetable-focused all-day spot with an airy space and open kitchen that puts vegetables front and center. Highlights include grilled broccolini with shira-ae, chile oil, and soy-pickled shiitake; charred cabbage with walnut vinaigrette, brittle, and Manchego; and a hearty chicken cacciatore with wilted spinach and braised olives — dishes that help make the room feel like the epicenter of the city's food scene." - Jennifer Malloy

An Essential Guide to Eating Your Way Through Alberta | Eater

"Despite being in the center of CowTown (Calgary’s cheeky moniker), husband-and-wife duo Stephen Smee and Aja Lapointe have chosen to open an all-day, veggie-centric restaurant that brightens up even the coldest day with bold, fresh flavors. Think kale pesto pasta topped with a crunch of pistachios, juicy, warm tomatoes on a bed of whipped and fluffy feta, and ginger and gochujang-tossed roasted cauliflower. They also have a steak for the meat lovers: an Alberta Prime striploin with a guajillo pepper rum and a pimento-y piperade. With soaring ceilings and airy windows, this all-day space is warm and welcoming. The name Ten Foot Henry? It’s a nod to the 1930s comic strip of the same name that’s become a local legend." - Kate Dingwall

Rank: #41 "In a city still closely associated with beef, the balanced flavours and strong execution of Ten Foot Henry’s vegetable-centric menu has nonetheless made the restaurant a go-to for a good night out. Launched in 2016 by husband and wife team Steve Smee and Aja Lapointe, this spot matches a lightness of design—a windowless space that manages to feel airy with its high ceilings, white walls and lush plants—with a menu where the ingredients speak for themselves."

A phenomenal first meal in Canada. Upscale service, food, and presentation in a very casual vibes environment. I can confidently say this is the best varied presentation of delicious vegetables I've had in my life. They aced every dish, and dispelled all notions that fiber needs to be an afterthought on your plate. This has encouraged me to level up my vegetable game at home when I cook. The Pickled Melon with Proscuitto (or whatever cut it was) was my favorite dish. Insane to me, because I'm a known Melon hater. They made me love it. The carrots were also dynamite. Smoky and rich. I hope to come back to Canada just to eat here again. All the staff was lovely, helpful, fast and super great at suggestions. Lyndy was our server, but everyone pitched in and gave my family of 6 a fantastic time.

Google
I took my wife here for her birthday dinner and was very impressed with everything here. The food is absolutely delicious and I'd say 95% of the vegetable dishes can be made vegan which is great for me but the staff go the extra step by offering the non-vegan items from the dish on the side for others ar the table. The service here is outstanding, friendly and helpful plus they don't rush you at all afterwards. Love that! It can get quite loud in the restaurant and some of the tables are quite close together which can make things feel a bit cramped but not a deal breaker. My only suggestion would be some dedicated vegan dishes with tofu or something would be great on the mains side of things. We will definitely be back though.

Google
A truly charming spot! I had a table on the patio, which is beautifully decorated with greenery and creates a lovely atmosphere. For food, I started with the signature salad – so flavorful and unlike anything I’ve tried before. Then I enjoyed the fresh marinated tuna – light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. To finish, I had the blueberry cheesecake, which was delicate and delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a meal that feels light yet fully satisfying.

Came for a solo lunch while visiting Calgary! Everything was delicious, the pickled melon blew my mind. 😂 in the best way. The cacio e pepe was literally the best pasta I’ve ever had. Laura was an amazing server! 😊 I cant wait to visit again and explore more of the menu! ❤️

Google
Best culinary experience. I am a vegetarian foodie ans love food based on veggies. I sat at the counter and watched the guy prepare every single dish. I had the tuna, kale ceasar, asparagus and maple desert with a sauterne. A lot of caring on each of them. Highly recommend!

We came here for our anniversary and it completely surpassed my expectations! The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was incredible, and upon presentation, was described to us in great detail. As a vegetarian, I also really appreciate the veggie focused menu!

Google
Delicious dinner here at Ten Foot Henry. All the dishes we had were great. The tomatoes with whipped feta and herb, roasted carrots, tuna crude, and gigli kale pesto. Service was also nice and friendly. I would love to return and try their other dishes.

This was our first meal in Calgary, and we had heard great things about it. We were blown away by how great everything tasted. The pasta was our favorite, and the fish was incredible as well. Great ambiance, lovely staff, overall a great vibe and super recommended!

Yelp
Whenever we travel, we read the foodie blogs to find the best places. We try to not go to the same place twice. In our three days in Calgary, we went to Ten Foot Henry three times. It is simply one of the best restaurants we have experienced. Every single dish was innovative and flavorful yet where else can you dine where the charred cabbage was the star of the show? The service on each visit was first rate (especially Carson). There are not many Ten Foot Henrys in the world, do yourself a favor and enjoy it.

Yelp
We were walking around outside our hotel looking for dinner and Ten Foot Henry looked good so we stopped in. There is a sidewalk patio, a bar, and tables. The tables seem tightly packed in so we ate at the bar. The staff members were helpful and nice. Food came out smoothly. We started with the tomatoes and whipped feta. This was really good with the creamy cheese rounding out the acidic tomatoes. Next up came the seared scallops. There were great with the spicy mango side. The arctic char is not a fish I have often. It was perfectly cooked with great flavor and a crispy skin. The mini eggplant, pepper, and green bean accompaniment was delicious and gave me all the vegetables I needed. I would eat this again every day. It is not until we left Calgary that I learned how highly acclaimed is Ten Foot Henry. The food was so good we should have altered our plans to go back again. Oh well, next time wee know!

Yelp
Fairly popular restaurant in Calgary that serves small plates for a good variety. I made reservations for a Monday dinner and even then, it can be hard to reserve for dinner since it is that popular. A friend couldn't make it last minute so I was still able to snag a counter seating for 1 for Monday dinner. People around and the servers are friendly. I was looking at Yelp for recommendations and they all gave me some of their recommendations, and went with the food that was unanimously favorites, which were salted cucumber, seared scallops, tuna crudo, and coconut cake (though people also liked butterscotch pudding too, albeit much sweeter) Salted cucumber was a fairly sizable dish, Japanese influence, and the saltiness and sweetness (from walnut beet dip) balance so well in the dish. Seared scallops are served 5 pcs for full order and 3 pcs for "half" order (more like greater than 50%). I liked how they give you option for smaller portion so you don't need to commit to a large portion of fewer dishes and get to try more things Tuna crudo was okay - there is some fishiness that otherwise would be muted if the fish were better quality Coconut cake is on the sweeter side for me but otherwise a good ending to the meal.

Yelp
We had a tasty meal and a good time at this spot, though there were a few areas we felt could be improved. The pesto on the pasta was way too limey, and the shrimp were a bit "fishy" tasting. My biggest gripe was I was charged an order of bread for a single additional slice, which was offered to me (i didn't ask for it). a resto of this stature should offer this complimentary, or at the very least bring a whole order of bread...
google avatar

Yelp
food was not bad but pricey for the portion, i like their attempt on asian fusion but i think overall it can be better, servers were rly nice tho and the resto is super cute, any seating is good! don't recommend outside when it's cold though. busy place!

Yelp
Recommended by a Toronto chef and it did not disappoint. Was alone but still tried four dishes. Hard to pick a favorite but would have to go with the tomatoes with whipped feta. Did not realize the tomatoes would be warn but it worked oh so well. The gigli pasta was strongly recommended by my server and did not disappoint, the lemon made it quite unique. The tuma crudo also excellent, large portion of great tuna. The cauliflower was good but was running out of energy by that time so I'd put it a notch down.

Yelp
I came here during a 20-hr layover from San Diego and was recommended this place from Reddit. It was a Friday night around 9:30pm and it was PACKED. I'm not used to the sun being up and restaurants being so lively at this time of day. It was loud, but I was able to be seated right away. I read the reviews and they aren't kidding, everything here is seriously good. I was solo, so I had the tuna crudo, half order of the following. Henry salad, gigli pesto pasta, butterscotch and one cream puff. I'm only here once so I figured I might as well try as much as I can. Oh, and the ol' beautiful 'okami kasu' japanese ale. My server helped me pick these out after I told him I was from out of town and only here for one night. He was super helpful and gave me his honest opinion and recommendations. Thanks Roland! I'm not normally a salad guy, but the Henry salad was TOP TIER. Also, the pesto pasta was sooo creamy, lemon-y and not too pesto-y. The butterscotch pudding and cream puff were seriously some of the best dessert Ives ever had. If I'm ever in Calgary again, I'd definitely come back.

Yelp
Wonderful lunch at Ten Foot Henry! If you're in downtown Calgary, I would say this restaurant is a must visit especially if you are a foodie and want to taste some of the best that Calgary has to offer. Appetizers, food, salad, and drinks were splendid! Was happy to have a chance to try a Chicka Cherry Cola! Service was friendly and the ambiance is bustling with friendly conversation and Canadian hospitality. 5 stars and two thumbs up!

Yelp
4.5/5 stars. We made a reservation for dinner. Ambiance is nice, and service was great! Our waiter explained the menu and made recommendations. Food came out at a good pace, and our water glasses were filled frequently. My fiancée and I shared 6 dishes, and we were stuffed! 1) Tuna crudo ($19) - The tuna was so flavorful with the sesame and chimichurri sauce! The pieces were soft and tasted fresh 2) Caesar salad ($16) - This is not your average Caesar salad! It has kale, chicories, cashews, egg, and pecorino! Such a great combo of flavors! I love eggs and cashews, so I couldn't resist this salad! The kale was soft and had a great texture. This salad pleasantly surprised me! 3) Scallops ($33) - Comes with 5 pieces. They were well cooked and very tender, although they weren't hot when they came out. They were also on the salty side. The mango chipotle sauce was a little spicy for me 4) Gigli ($25) - Loved the unique pasta shape! The pistachio on top was my fave! The dish was surprisingly large. I may have liked it even better if the pasta was cooked al dente, but I still really liked it 5) Broccolini ($16) - The chili sauce added a kick to this dish. The broccolini was tender, but it was a little too salty. The mushrooms were also really salty 6) Arctic char ($35) - This was my fave dish! The skin was thin and crispy, and the fish was so tender. The Thai green curry flavor wasn't too overpowering, and it blended well with the fish Overall, we enjoyed all the dishes here! They were unique and flavorful! Some of the dishes were overly salty, but otherwise, the dishes were executed very well.

Yelp
a bit tricky to find, the signage is small and easy to miss, and we waited a while to get seated. they have outdoor patio seating and the space made a great first impression. bright and airy with loads of natural light, hanging plants, and a fresh, modern vibe. that said, it's definitely on the louder side and very busy, more high energy power lunch spot, where multimillion dollar deals are made than a quiet café catch up. we showed up a little before 1:00 pm on a tuesday hoping for brunch, only to learn it's offered on weekends only. still, the regular menu had enough to keep us curious. we shared the henry salad, which was a hit, baby greens, crispy shiitake, edamame, and miso dressing. light, flavourful, and beautifully textured with a little crunch in every bite. the gigli pasta with kale pesto, pistachio, and grana padano was simple but nicely done. no protein, just pasta, but it was well cooked and the pesto leaned more lemony than garlic, which made it feel bright and clean. we also ordered the sourdough toast with whipped feta, tomatoes, and herbs, tangy, creamy, and very satisfying. we ended up scooping some of the tomato and whipped feta and mixed it in with the pasta, and it turned out really well. overall, a cool and buzzy spot with fresh, thoughtfully prepared food. will have to come back to try their brunch on weekends.

Yelp
What a great place! Cute, garden style cafe restaurant. Very friendly service. I could turn vegetarian if all vegetarian food tasted this good. We did also get the shrimp dish, which was really good but honestly, I think I preferred the vegetarian dishes. Probably because I get shrimp quite often when I go out to eat I didn't get a picture of the pasta which had pesto and pistachios. That was honestly my favorite bite. Beautifully cooked pasta. The pesto wasn't too powerful in flavor and it went very well with pistachios and I believe Parmesan cheese that was on the top. At first, I was uncertain about the cauliflower being cooked with gochujang but oh wow, it was so good. Potatoes were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft in the middle with just enough sauce. I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order, just pick what you think you would like. I also had the pearTonka Bean tea. What a unique drink I highly recommend it.

Yelp
The food is GREAT! We ordered the fried potatoes, which were amazing with a delicious creamy herb and jalapeño goddess. We also had the feta and tomato spread with dill. Smear some of this on the sourdough toast and wow! I believe it had a touch of honey in it as well. The charred cabbage is a must have. A little briny and perfectly charred, it is fresh and delicious. Served with walnut vinaigrette. Finally, we enjoyed the cacio e pepe spaghetti. A fantastic combination of the spice and creaminess you expect from the dish. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the sounds of the city while sipping on local brews, wine, and cocktails. Our server was attentive and helpful and had a great sense of humor. I'll definitely return.

Yelp
The restaurant was busy at lunch, glad we were able to get a spot at the bar. Taylor, our bartender and server, was very friendly and chatted with us about the menu, Calgary, and more! What a nice person. Our food selections were just the right amount to share; each dish was presented as they became ready.

Yelp
I kept seeing Ten Foot Henry recommended - it was super cute! And the service was super nice. The scallops were my favorite dish - the pesto sauce made it so refreshing, and the scallops tasted so fresh! The cauliflower had a nice tahini sauce which was so delicious. The pasta hit the spot, with the red sauce and sausage bits!

Yelp
Everything about this place was fabulous- from the service, the food, the environment! We ordered the gigli pasta, mushrooms, and grilled asparagus and each dish was absolutely delectable! The pasta had a perfect lemon zest and the pesto was not rich / heavy. I liked the dash of pistachio. As for the mushrooms and asparagus, you could taste each flavor they incorporated. Just writing this review is making my mouth water. The entire indoor and outdoor patio is beautifully decorated with plants and kept clean. Server was very attentive and every time they brought out the dishes, they would give a brief rundown of what was incorporated in the dish.

Yelp
I sat at the bar at this quaint restaurant and was immediately welcome by an awesome hostess, who took my coat, and this sweet smiling waitress at the bar named Kelsey. So friendly and warm. The food was pretty good too. I got the 4 egg and goat cheese omelete and the candied bacon. The bacon was a nice touch and added a nice crunch. The omelete was nice and not greasy or super filling. There was only a small portion of goat cheese but you could taste it. Adding a touch of hot sauce helped bring out the dish though. Overall, it was a happening place. I would recommend this place.

Yelp
We were staying in Calgary for one night on our way back to NY from Banff. I had gotten a few recommendations from someone who was local, and then discovered that this place was literally on the same block as our hotel, so it seems like a sign! We LOVED this place. Everything we ordered was delicious (I'm writing this review, like, 8 months later, so I'll admit I don't remember the specific dishes). This will sound like I'm a NY snob, but this was the type of restaurant that would do really well in NYC--we wished it was in our neighborhood, we'd be there all the time!

Yelp
If you're a foodie, then look no further! The experience from service to food was excellent. We made reservations for a Thursday night and sat at the Chef's counter, so we can see all the chefs in action. Note it's warm over here by the stoves, so don't dress too warm. It was very packed on a weekday and the waiters were attentive and friendly without rushing us to get out. We ordered cocktails, the grilled asparagus with finely diced crispy potatoes, gigli kale pesto pasta with pistachio, and hamachi with lotus chip. Presentation of the food made the food look even more delicious. The standout for us was the pasta. The flavors were well balanced. With these 3 items, we were full. Very happy belly :)

Yelp
last dinner we had in calgary and it did not disappoint!! the tuna crudo was amazing i am a fan of the oil and sesame seeds with the chimichurri sauce YOMMY and the kale pesto pasta was less pesto flavors but more lemon zesty it's unique and nice. i didn't take a photo of our drinks but i got this cherry cola cocktail and my boyfriend got this light beer it was super tasty and i usually don't even like beer :D

Max L.

Yelp
Absolutely excellent. The tomato confit starter was super flavorful, a delicious yogurty cheese with great whipped texture, fresh chewy bread with a balanced amount of crunch. The pistachio pasta was interestingly my least favorite, but not without merit. It is flavorful, the olive oil and pesto and pistachio chips come across strongly, but it did not possess the same umami as the preceding dish. The cauliflower knocked it out of the park, perfectly cooked with really great flavor. And the butterscotch pudding was a masterclass, like flan in a jar with caramel and other chunks. My server was exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the ambience was very clean, hip, and relaxing. Plants dangling from the ceiling. Not too hectic. It's a wonderful restaurant with a menu I'd love to dive into again.

Yelp
As usual the offerings at 10 ft Henry are both extensive and delicious. Many vegan, vegetarian and seafood options. The preparation, presentation and flavors are truly amazing. We ordered a variety of vegetarian dishes (beets, broccolini, carrots). And the top crowd pleaser was the salmon! For desert we shared the butterscotch pudding, chocolate tort and the coconut cake. The overall winner was the toffee topped butterscotch pudding (house specialty). Had a few nice cocktails like the naughty eggnog and the unusual suspects. Very nice opposites. The interior tends to get a bit loud, but overall ambiance is clean and modern. Service is always exceptional. Anytime we can stop in on our Calgary ventures we make a point of stopping here for a meal. Enjoy!

Yelp
My first review. I'm from the Bay Area, and this fuckin hit. 5/5 I had: -The caesar -gigli -red prawns great service, chefs seemed locked
google avatar

Yelp
I cannot express how amazing the service is here. It is just incredible how helpful and attentive everyone is. I almost ordered too much and was kindly advised to drop a dish (but reassured that if it was needed, that the dish could be placed). I tried their potatoes, tuna, and scallops. Everything was good, but I kinda wished I got the cabbage. I was seated at the kitchen and the cabbage dish looked incredible. My favorite aspect of the restaurant is the ability to order many of the dishes at a smaller portion. This alone is why I'm coming back when I'm in Calgary.
google avatar

Xiaoyi Y.

Yelp
Excellent taste of food but the portions were small for some items. Lots of choices and I found myself tend to spend more than what I had planned. Overall a great place to eat alone and with a group, then you could taste more dishes!

Yelp
Was quite busy even around 2pm, although it was a Saturday! Still received prompt and attentive service for 2. Server made excellent recommendations and everyone was sure to keep our water topped up even though we had a bottle at our table! Food was all delicious we had the pesto pasta, a shrimp dish, and the charred cabbage. Everything was executed perfectly although we really loved the pesto pasta - lovely lemon notes and the charred cabbage which paired really well with the vinaigrette! Meal was on the pricier side of what we normally spend for 2 but it was worth it! They also provided a cute holiday postcard!
google avatar

Yelp
In my top five favourite restaurants in Calgary. I recently tried the brunch and wow run do not walk to the sourdough pancake. The gigli is one of the best pastas I've ever eaten and yes I have been to Italy. The salmon and chicken are great entrees. And definitely do not mis ordering any of the vegetables; they're all divine! The room can be squishy but as long as you are prepared for that intimate environment it is a beautiful restaurant. The service is consistent and the staff are all extremely knowledgeable on the menu and recommendations. My one criticism is that they have a very limited brunch drink menu.

Yelp
Easily my favorite meal of our Banff/Jasper/Calgary trip! If you can only make it to one restaurant in the city, Ten Foot Henry is hands down the #1 must try spot. We made sure to snatch up reservations for this downtown gem (pro-tip: OpenTable seats are available up to a month in advance) because of how crazy popular it is with locals and tourists alike. First, a brief history tidbit: Henry actually originated as an American comic strip character from 1932 who came to fame decades later as a beloved figure in Calgary's art scene after a local theater director commissioned a ten foot plywood figure of his likeness, which now serves as the cheeky mascot for this highly acclaimed eatery :^) All of the dishes are served family-style, perfect for sharing (though probably best for parties of 2 and smaller groups, order multiples if your party is on the larger side). Read on for how they artfully blend different flavor profiles to create exquisite dishes that will have your taste buds rejoicing: + Tomatoes (5/5): such an unassuming name but is actually the creme de la creme of their vegetable appetizers - an absolute must try!! tomatoes were so impressively sweet like they were just freshly harvested from a backyard and paired beautifully with the oh-so-creamy whipped feta topped with herbs for a flavor explosion atop the chewy sourdough + Grilled broccolini (5/5): what is it about the calgary region and how well they cook broccolini? i've never had the desire to try this vegetable in my life but had it 3-4 times during my trip and it's delicious each time. their spin on it here was tuna tonnnato with sweet-and-sour agrodolce and citrusy lemon to pair with the smokiness of the broccolini -- such a skillfully crafted flavor combination + Gigli (4.5/5): kale pesto with pistachio and grana padano cheese - salty lemony and so perfectly seasoned, ideally portioned for 2. appropriately light tasting so that you're satiated but still have enough room for all the other dishes. side note, can we start using pistachios as a topping on all pasta dishes??? + Spring salmon (5/5): i find that i'm especially picky with salmon and how it's professionally cooked at restaurants because of how it's relatively easy to make at home, but no complaints here- beautifully cooked with crispy skin and a tender, moist interior served in a delightful grape gastrique topped with crispy potatoes, mmm + Butterscotch toffee pudding (4.5/5): layer of salted caramel on top of house made sponge toffee in a cute little mason jar - amazing! available in mini size upon request if you're like me and just want a tiny bite of something sweet to finish off an already filling meal~ Ugh such an incredibly satisfying meal for our first night in Calgary that I'm still thinking about months later. As an avid postcard collector, I was delighted to see that they include an adorable cartoon postcard with the bill to commemorate your meal. Ten Foot Henry is such an appropriately hyped Calgary gem that I would re-visit without a second thought if I ever find myself back in the city.

Yelp
Wow is all I can say!! From the innovation to the quality of the ingredients and the desert. The desert ......... Oh my god. Off the charts. Coconut heaven!! This place is wonderful!! Thank you!!

Yelp
located in downtown calgary, this spot is a gem. we didn't have reservations (which you should by the way), we were told we would have to wait a bit. luckily a spot on the patio opened up and we were seated fairly quickly. while the dishes here are meant to be shared, don't for a second think that they're small portions. they're fairly large and they give pretty decent value for your money. we opted to go for the roast chicken with tzatziki sauce, broccolini, and cauliflower. all three dishes were wonderfully cooked and incredibly tasty. the cauliflower seemed to be a fan favorite seeing that every table around me ordered it and i can definitely see why. but don't sleep on the broccolini! the chef did a great play on different flavors on this dish.

Yelp
I forgot to take a picture, but recommend the pasta. It reminded me of the pasta I had in Italy; it was perfectly el dente. The Beets were really good, as was as the cucumber. My favourite dish was the tomato spread, and highly recommend it. The atmosphere was beautiful, and service was good.
google avatar

Yelp
Really delicious spot! Got a table for four inside and service was prompt. Got the bottle of rose to share - it was nice, sweet and refreshing. As for food, we shared the beets, cucumber and tomato dishes. The flavors were on point for all of them. The tomato with whipped feta on toast was a crowd favorite. The cucumber had good crunch and sesame oil drizzle that was fantastic. Beets were equally awesome with a great sauce. We also tried the pasta and loved the tomato and peppery kick.

Yelp
It's almost December and this restaurant is easily one of the top 3 best restaurants I have been to this year. I cannot recommend this enough, the restaurant is truly a "must try" for anyone in Calgary, especially the lemon pesto pasta! We had a late lunch around 2:30pm on a Thursday, and were able to get a table without any wait. The restaurant was cute, well-lit, and pretty quiet. We told our waitress, Erin, that it was our first time there, and she was so helpful with recommendations, for both drinks and dishes. The tuna was really good, the cauliflower was great, but wow the pesto pasta was mind-blowing with real lemon zest!! I was also particularly impressed with the glass of Leitz 'eins zwei dry' pinot noir rosé (from Rheingau, Germany) that I drank. I'll be recommending this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal in Calgary!

Andy H.

Yelp
Best meal I've had in a while. Excellent service by Paul (bartender, I ate at bar) and Evelyn gave an exceptional presentation as food was delivered.

Yelp
We have one night in Calgary, and I was lucky enough to a) go to lunch at a not busy time and b)have two friends to go with me so that we could share some things. They advertise their plates as shareable, and they are, and you definitely want to so that you can try more things!!! We let the waitress make some suggestions and we had the tomatoes with whipped feta, charred cabbage and pesto pasta. All three were absolutely terrific, with either the tomatoes or the cabbage as the star. I can't decide. The tomatoes are roasted and ooze into the whipped feta as you give it a good stir, and then slather it on yummy bread. The charred cabbage has a slightly sweet note, perhaps in the vinaigrette? The tahini sauce was just unbelievably fabulous... In fact, it was so good that I used my pesto pasta to scrape up all the leftover bits. Normally I'm a meat eater but all the veggies looked so good, and then we heard they had started off solely veggies.... We had to do it. I wish we were hungry enough for dessert because everything was just fantastic as promised by all these great reviews. Try it and bring friends if you can- so delish! I wish it were in my neighborhood!

Yelp
We enjoyed visiting the place with our family during the lunch rush in the area. The outside seems very quiet as compared to the inside. A nice variety of light and tasty food. It's a nice combination of flavors that everyone will enjoy. If we ever stop in this area, we will visit this place area. it has a great atmosphere and decor. You will need to give it a try. Check out the menu that I dropped for your reference.

Yelp
The food was delicious. We were seated in the chef's bar seating. Therefore, we were able to watch the team cook our food. We ordered the spaghetti, cauliflower, hamachi and 2 desserts. The only miss was the 2 desserts. We were not fan of either of them. (Cheesecake puffs and chocolate tort) In-fact my husband got sick afterwards but I think it's because the chocolate tort had dairy in their ingredients. The service was great and attentive. This is a very popular restaurant. Therefore, you should definitely make a reservation way in advance so you get a table. Otherwise you might get stuck at the bar which isn't too bad.

Yelp
Probably some of the best Italian food I've ever had. The food was amazing and the portion sizes are good and you honestly can't beat the price might be a little high for America, but I think in Canada, it falls just in line with high end establishments.

Yelp
Wow...this place is incredible....it blew away all of my expectations. The charred cabbage was out of this world, the tripolini was homemade-wonderulness, the chicken was decent (the pineapple accent was killer), and the butterscotch was the best I've ever had. My server was extremely kind and helpful when giving me recommendations and always made sure my water was full. And the ambiance (as you can tell from my POV pic) was immaculate. This place is doing everything right! 10/10, great job guys!

Yelp
This is probably the best restaurant we've been to in Calgary. Reservations are a must, however. We were immediately greeted by the excellent host with a Happy Birthday wish and seated at a prime table. Peter then arrived to offer a choice of both sparkling or flat water, which was brought straight away. As this was our first visit, he took the time to explain the menu and various options, including the wines. We chose the grilled asparagus, the scallops, and the gigli. Megan then took over, and she kept our water glasses full and brought our dishes, which came promptly. The food was all amazing, especially the gigli, which was so good I would have liked to like the plate! Because the dishes weren't overwhelming, we had room for dessert and ordered the highly recommended butterscotch pudding. Omg, we are not typically dessert people, but this was just incredible. Unfortunately, the food was so delicious, I forgot to take pictures. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Well, let me tell you, I've stumbled upon a gem of a place, and I'd be remiss not to shout about it! From the moment I stepped through the door, it was clear this wasn't your average spot Ten foot Henry does it. The staff? Absolute legends--polite as you like and always ready with a smile. And the food? was great I had roast chicken, and it was cooked to perfection--crispy skin, tender inside, and seasoned like someone really cared. The whole experience was awesome, If you're after top-notch nosh and service that's a cut above, you simply must give this place a go. Cheers to the team for making it such a great experience!

Yelp
We made a last minute decision to go to Ten Foot Henry on our last night in Calgary, and we were lucky enough to get seats at the chef's counter. We ordered: tagliatelle - with kale pesto, pistachio, grana padano steak - with truffle dijon, gai choy fried potatoes - with herbs, jalapeño, green goddess butterscotch pudding - with salted caramel and sponge toffee The pesto pasta was delicious, probably one of the best pastas I've ever had. The steak was also great, and the potatoes were delicious. I wasn't a fan of the crunchy bits on the pudding, but the rest was good. Not only was the food amazing, but it was also super interesting watching the inner workings of the kitchen while eating. We'll definitely be back if we're ever in Calgary again!

Yelp
Great service and wonderful food. A popular restaurant. Luckily the patio was first come first serve. We got there at 4:30 and was seated. Best spaghetti cacio de peppe we ever had. I'm super sensitive to salt and requested for less salt. The spaghetti came out perfect. The cauliflower was delicious and the Thai roast chicken was tender. An interesting combination of dark chocolate and avocado torte!

Yelp
This was our first restaurant that we tried when we touched down in Calgary and we were not disappointed! As we entered, the restaurant was quite obviously packed, especially compared to neighboring restaurants, so we had an immediate feeling that it was a community favorite. During our stay, we were situated near the open chef viewing area which was really cool and were kindly taken care of by Lucas, who was one of the sweetest, most welcoming, and charming servers we've ever had. Super thorough, knowledgeable, and patiently/happily willing to share all the recommendations! The spot is cute too with a bunch of plants everywhere. For starters, we got the caesar salad, tomatoes, tuna crudo, and red prawns, and for the main pasta entree, we got the linguine with the puttanesca sauce. Everything was extremely fresh and had a nice farm-to-table feel. Our favorite was the tomatoes though, which has apparently lasted on the menu for the longest time (fun fact!). For drinks, I got the tough love and the cucumber collins cocktails, and my favorite between the two was the tough love. The tough love was recommended by two different employees, so that one looks to be a crowd favorite. My boyfriend also ended up trying both a house red and white wine, which he really enjoyed. Overall, this was a great start to our Banff adventure and I'm not sure if it's the Canadian food scene, but the food seems a lot fresher here than back home in California. Would definitely recommend this spot!

Yelp
Service and ambience were impeccable. Love the veggie forward concept. A couple of comments though: - The tuna and hamachi may have been better slightly more thin (although my husband disagrees w this opinion.. he wants more bang for the buck). We thought the hamachi was perfectly seasoned and paired with the lotus chip was ingenious. - The cauliflower was a bit overdone. Seemed it was steamed or boiled first before the charring - very soft though tasty. - Broccolini, perfection. Don't change a thing. - Thai chicken - mm, not the best. It was white meat chicken w seasoning not very well entrenched in it. Without the papaya salad, it would be tasteless. Still tender though despite ... white meat chicken. - Butterscotch pudding, also perfection.

Yelp
We came here for brunch with a reservation cause we read it gets very busy. For their brunch menu, they have a handful of breakfast items but they also have their regular menu as well. We shared the: -tomatoes, herbs, whipped feta, sidewalk sourdough toast -hamachi tiradito, aji amarillo, cilantro, lotus chip These were actually our 2 favorite items. The tomatoes and whipped feta was SO good. I smothered that all over the sourdough toast and it was so fresh and delicious. Tomatoes were sweet and juicy. The hamachi was also fresh and the lotus chip gave just that right amount of texture. Off the brunch section we got the ham & tomato toast, fried eggs, hollandaise. This was our least favorite item just cause it didn't really stand out to us. It was eggs and ham on toast. It wasn't a bad dish, but in comparison to the other 2 it was average. For dessert, we got the butterscotch pudding. Pudding was good, but there was too much of the toffee on it for my liking. We ended up picking some toffee off cause it was way too sweet. Overall, service was excellent. I would recommend getting items off their regular menu just for more variety, and not their brunch items.

Yelp
Totally a go to place whenever I'm in Calgary! So recommend to all who visit As usual an outstanding experience ! The menu isn't huge but it is brilliant !
