★★★★★ Our first visit to Tender Greens was an absolute delight! The staff was exceptionally gracious, sweet, and helpful throughout our entire experience. I ordered the steak plate which was cooked to perfection - tender, flavorful, and with delicious sides. My mom tried the chicken harvest salad which she couldn't stop raving about - fresh ingredients and perfectly dressed. The portion sizes were ideal - we both left feeling satisfied but not overstuffed. The restaurant's atmosphere was welcoming and clean, making for a pleasant dining experience. The value was excellent for the quality of food we received. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and I would absolutely recommend this location to anyone looking for fresh, well-prepared food with outstanding service. 10/10 will definitely be returning!

Google
So I did an online order, normally I enjoy Tender Greens. I had to order my steak medium well due to pregnancy. I received a medium rare steak and thus could not eat any of the food that was in contact with the medium rare steak. I also ordered a side of mac and cheese. When my order arrived there was NO mac and cheese in the bag, the receipt processed by Marisol G-5264 did not reflect what I ordered. Really disappointed in the lack of attention to detail from the staff. If it is a problem they have with DD then they need to fix it. VERY DISAPPOINTING.

Google
Really nice atmosphere for a quick bite. Friendly service. And the food was healthy and delicious! We ordered the California bowl with salmon and a plate with herb chicken, veggies and mashed potatoes. Also the juices are amazing! Will definitely be back!

Google
I am a big fan of tender Greens, I always get the chicken Katsu bowl, or the salmon Pacific bowl which are always a 10 out of 10. Today I wanted to try something new and I was a little more hungry than usual coming back from the gym so I ordered a side of baby spinach. When I got home with my to go order, I noticed that my baby spinach was not spinach at all. It was just a bowl of lettuce so I’m extremely disappointed with that cause I ordered baby spinach not a bowl of freaking lettuce.

Definitely one of the healthiest options for both vegans and non-vegetarians. We all loved our dishes! The food was healthy, portions were good, and everything tasted fresh. I tried the avocado toast, and others in our group had the Thai Chili Shrimp Bowl—both were good

Google
Delicious food at decent (comparatively) prices. I literally go here about once/ week for their amazing sandwiches. Highly recommend the chicken pesto and chipotle chicken sandwiches- seriously amazing. Their plates are also very good and filling, and you can't go wrong with pretty much any of the sides.

Google
I’ve been coming to Tender Greens since the early days back when it felt like a hidden gem, and the Tuna Niçoise quickly became my must-have. I literally cross the border from Mexico once or twice a month just for this salad. It’s always come with three slices of tuna until now. This time, I received two. When I gently asked about it, I was met with a cold, mechanical explanation: “It’s all weighed the same.” No flexibility, no warmth, no real hospitality. The response felt less like policy and more like dismissal. It gave off: “Go back to your seat. We know better.” I didn’t push back. I just sat quietly, disappointed. I wasn’t asking for more food. I was asking for a little bit of recognition and care. I’ve always loved Tender Greens, but this visit reminded me: it’s not just the food that builds loyalty. It’s how we’re treated when we speak up. P.S. The tuna? Butchered. 😤 I’ve seen sushi disintegrate with more dignity than what landed on my plate.

Google
Chicken was made spicy by accident. When I called to ask if the recipe had changed they said no but they thought the person who made it, made it incorrectly this time, but it shouldn’t be like that in the future. They apologized, but I didn’t do anything to correct the issue.

Yelp
Our first time we door dashed. Unfortunately the restaurant gave the driver the wrong order. It was an Uber eats order for Will M. When ours was DoorDash for William W. Super similar looking names so I totally get the mix-up. It was just unfortunate because we were doing house maintenance all day and starving but my husband had to drive to the restaurant to pickup our actual order. We had the Mediterranean steak salad, chicken pesto salad, tender burger, the greens juice and mint lemonade. I really enjoyed the steak salad and all the fresh herbs in it. I think it's nice that the bread they give is sourdough. The chicken pesto sandwich. The chicken was super moist and juicy. The greens juice was good. Kind of watery from the ice melting but still good. The second time we dined in and had a really great experience. We had the short rib plate, chipotle barbecue chicken sandwich and bowl. Everything was so delicious - well seasoned. The short rib was soo soft and tender yet still juicy. Cooked perfectly. On top of that, someone even came to clear our plates and quality checked the food which was very nice. I believe his name was Jovan - he had above and beyond level of customer service. Incredibly gracious and friendly. For a healthy option - this place is perfect and has so many choices to suit nearly anyone. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
I am a regular at Tender Greens because I love their fresh healthy menu options but today was the first day that they are not getting five stars. I ordered my favorite green pozole soup and it was not up to their normal standards. It was more like a broth And not thick and full of harmony and chicken like it normally is so I sent it back. The manager was kind enough to offer me a full refund or another menu option so I opted for the tuna nicoise salad that they make so well. I will come back because everyone has a bad day once in a while and they manage this restaurant so well by how they handled my customer complaint today. This is a mark of a good restaurant and I hope that next time will be better and this was just a day after the holiday blues . I enjoyed sitting outside on a beautiful July day. All the employees are so kind and helpful here. Maybe not such a bad experience after all!! (I just missed having my favorite soup!!)

Yelp
I've eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. It's a clean spacious restaurant with ample room to sit both inside and out. Today I opted for the seared tuna with my sides being baby arugula and crispy potatoes. I also got the mint lemonade. The tuna was perfect. Needed no additional seasoning and was very fresh. The arugula salad had just enough dressing that complimented the tuna very well. The crispy potatoes left something to be desired. They just needed something other than salt on them. The service was decent but it would be nice if the staff that came out to deliver the meals and clean plates would offer refills on the drinks. Just a thought. Overall very nice lunch.

Yelp
Another win! All of the food in this area is super delicious! It was my first time at Tender greens and my vote is they expand everywhere! This is one of the best lunch spots I've visited! I had a steak salad and it was simple yet delicious! I was nervous about the lemon vinaigrette but it was definitely a hit! The server was friendly and knowledgeable. He let me know his favorites and helped me make a choice! We sat outside and one thing about San Diego is that sitting outside is always the best idea because the light breeze elevates the experience! Definitely visit tender greens if you're in the area!

Yelp
I came at 840 ish pm and it was already closing down. It took a couple servers to actually ring me up because some door dash guy was taking forever with an order. I think the service for him was exceptional as they seemed really nice about trying to resolve his issue. I quickly ordered the bbq chicken salad to go. I just got off a plane and wanted something green with protein. It was delicious. The place is clean and has everything. I think they offer real utensils for dine in and the server was conscientious enough to ask if I needed silverware which I did not. So helpful to take a few seconds and limit what goes to waste in our country! Thank you. My salad was delicious, everything was fresh but it's just hard to stomach $16 for a salad. That's me and my oldish age lol. But go check it out. There wasn't a bite left.
google avatar

Courtney L.

Yelp
This is my favourite tender greens in the area. The portions feel larger, the food is always delicious, and this is the only one where the staff come around and ask if you want a refill! It's worth the drive out here and the airplanes flying over.

Yelp
That olive oil cakkkkkeeeeeeeeee. That olive oil cakkkkkeeeeeeeeee. Lord have mercy. I can survive on this alone. I would sell my first born for a lifetime supply. This location is cute but chaotic. I love the outdoor seating but it's always busy, especially on weekends. They still churn it out fairly quick. Always a good choice.
google avatar

Ellie D.

Yelp
The line to the register was a bit wonky and narrow and there's a separate line for pickups. That could've been organized a bit better but other than that it appeared to be a relatively functional space. What we got: Mint lemonade - 4* they said it's made with real lemon and mint. It tasted great and I enjoyed helping my mum finish hers. The one downside is it left a slight texture on my teeth for a bit. Chicken Pesto - 4* great sandwich with fantastic flavor. It filled up an empty stomach, that's for sure!

Alizayna W.

Yelp
Love this place! The food is always fresh and delicious! The service is also excellent. Iliyana works at the cash register and she was so attentive and helpful with my order. The vibes are perfect for a zen lunch or dinner. You walk in and the greenery is just a breath of fresh air. Definitely my favorite lunch date spot!

Yelp
Upon spotting the Tender Greens restaurant, I hurried to place my order. This place was busy, customers occupied half the sitting areas, which is always a good thing. My order took exactly 30 minutes to be ready. The prices were a bit steep considering the portion size of the bowl. While the food was tasty, it didn't quite satisfy my appetite. I opted for takeout and realized upon leaving that the bag did not contain plastic utensils and napkins, so I had to go back to get them. I had received a complimentary agua fresca offer through a Yelp check-in, but the staff seemed confused about redeeming it. The apparent manager even mentioned that it was a mistake and shouldn't have been available. I felt embarrassed for inquiring about the free offer, as it seemed to imply I was trying to get a drink without making a purchase. Furthermore, I noticed that all the employees appeared stressed out, indicating a need for better management and organizational structure. I won't be returning to this location based on this experience.

Yelp
This place has great food. I really like the fried chicken, the steak and seared ahi. I love that they grill their bread too. The mashed potatoes are also great! The staff are super helpful too.
google avatar

Yelp
Harvest Salad with Citrus... the cubed roast chicken thigh pieces were so fatty I spent a good 5 minutes separating skin and fat gobules from the meat before I could even begin to eat. Too much olive oil in the vinaigrette. For $20 very disappointing. Ambiance outside on patio was great.

Yelp
We haven't been here in awhile, so it was nice to dine here again. Liberty Station in itself is wonderful to visit for its military history and historic buildings, which contribute to the unique vibe and ambience. During this visit, Tender Greens was not at all busy, and food and service were good for the most part. A star off because the steak tasted way more pepper-y than I remember and the nice gentleman who meant to follow up with serving us more bread (he only brought us one slice) failed to do so. My boyfriend had to get up mid-meal to fetch it himself. Otherwise, we had a great lunch. The portions are just right and their beverages are refreshing and tasty.
google avatar

Suri Y.

Yelp
I love this sandwich so much it's all I've been getting. I have ordered online and pickup was super easy. I have also gone to the restaurant, ordered there to go, and it was still pretty quick! I get the chicken pesto sandwich but with no tomatoes. I just love how crispy the bread is and how the pesto aioli is just the perfect amount in the sandwich. They are also not skimpy with the chicken! The inside has seating and I believe there is also outside seating.

Osama E.

Yelp
Food is okay but it was cold and service is bad and not worth the price at all, we ordered couple bowls and end up paying $52 with full not satisfied
google avatar

Marciaann N.

Yelp
First time trying this place. Very happy my daughter and I decided to have lunch here. The employees are very friendly and helpful. The food is yummy and fresh. We both loved the tomato soup. The wait was a little long but it was Sunday afternoon. The prices are a little expensive for the portion size. I would come back if I'm in the area.
google avatar

Nick G.

Yelp
5/5 stars! This was the best "lunch" meal I've ever had! There was zero wait time (visited Monday, June 19th around 2:30 PM PST). The staff was very accommodating. The environment was clean and very peaceful (non-noisy). But, guys, the FOOD was crazy, savory good. Oh man, I promise you my mouth is still watery as I'm writing this looking at the picture of the sliced chicken breast (see pics below). The price for a two person plated meal WITH a small dessert (carrot cake) was just $36. For the quality I got and with inflation prices, I'll take that as a win!
google avatar

Moe K.

Yelp
This is the worst location I've ever been to, the bathroom is horrible, the steak was mostly fat, and the new mac and cheese was disgusting
google avatar

Sam W.

Yelp
I ordered plate online with mash everything arrived but never received mash and fork spoon knife very poor service, how I suppose to eat by hands!?
google avatar

Ali S.

Yelp
Solid location, healthy food, and phenomenal staff. I order for pick up, Jarod helped me when I came in. He was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the Happy Vegan (I am not vegan) and it's always solid. The green drink is also great as well as the chicken soup. I have never had anything I didn't like here.
google avatar

Yelp
This place has amazing ingredients but they could use some help with a couple things. 1. The chipotle bbq chicken salad. The name is very misleading. In a bbq chicken salad I'm expecting cilantro, corn, maybe some roasted peppers, red onions and definitely BBQ sauce/drizzle/dressing of some sort. It didn't have any of that. The only bbq thing about it was that the chicken was barbecued. 2. I wanted to order the longevity salad but the only two "protein" add ons you can get with it are trout or mushrooms. I asked if I could get chicken instead of the trout. They said they would have to charge me for the trout salad $16.95 and I could buy a side of chicken separately to add to my salad. I felt like that wasn't right as chicken is typically cheaper than fish. I was fine paying the $16.95 but I'm not going to pay additional money when I'm not getting more food, just substituting. I decided to go across to Luna Grill where they have a delicious salmon bowl for $13!
google avatar

Martha M.

Yelp
I really want to like it because it's healthy but most of the time the chicken is dry, the meat is hard to chew and many times I received my food cold
google avatar

Erk P.

Yelp
It's a no for me. I tried. I really tried to not give this review but it keeps popping up. Twice I tried to enjoy the food here. Twice it was a fail. It should have been good. It really should have. The business model is sound. But, I have to go there, ew. That's how bad it is. You can't just put raw mean on heat and expect it to be good. Some seasonings would be great. Beef actually chewable would be nice. Pork and chicken, stop! I'm post traumatic. I have friends who love this place. I just can't. The lines tell me that they are not the only ones. Me and my husband just shrug when we walk by heading to better eateries in Liberty Station.
google avatar

Panda K.

Yelp
The thoughtfulness and charisma by the staff to all customers at this location is beyond stellar. What a great group of people. My first tender greens experience was in Culver City but since then I pop my head in a few times a year and it's just always been pleasant. This location because of the wide open spaces the old-school refurbished building the ample amount of parking. It's hard to go wrong when you need to meet people are just grab something that's not covered in grease. Well done Tender Greens well done.
google avatar

Kathy B.

Yelp
Good dining option if you want simple fare in the Liberty Station area with plenty of parking nearby. The generously-portioned Chicken Pesto Sandwich was flavorful, but the Roasted Tomato Soup was too heavy on the basil oil which overpowered the tomato flavor and made it too rich for my liking.
google avatar

Renta P.

Yelp
The food was good and customer service was good. I ordered the pasta to go and it was ready in 10-15 mins. They have a great sitting area if you want to as a group for lunch and a nice selection of different salads.

Dan F.

Yelp
I stopped going here a few years ago when I got a salad that usually had an egg on it split in two, but now only had half an egg!! Who does that? I think their business strategy is to cut corners until you start losing customers. It worked!! But last night I was feeling awful. I got a cold or something at a holiday party and all I wanted was a warm bowl of soup. I remembered that this place did have good soup and they're right down the street. What could go wrong? I decided to order a whole quart of soup so I could have leftovers the next day. I got a ladle and started pouring a bowl of soup. First ladle...no chicken. Second ladle...no chicken. In that ENTIRE quart of soup there was ONE small piece of chicken. I paid $15 for potatoes and carrots in broth!! Never again. Lesson learned. Fool me twice, shame on...wait .

Tracy B.

Yelp
Although I love Luna Grill, the service at this location was deplorable. I walked in a few minutes before closing, and they were trying to turn me away. It was prior to closing time, and when a place closes at a specific time, they should be willing to take orders until that time. With that said, I literally had to beg for them to prepare two hummus plates that required nothing, but putting it on the plate. It was quite the chore that resulted in two manager approvals and the Cook saying he's willing to do it. Nonetheless, would never come back here!
google avatar

Dominik O.

Yelp
I indulged myself in a chicken salad and let me tell you, it was an ok experience. First things first, the service was good. Like, really good. The server was attentive, friendly, and didn't even judge me when I asked for extra croutons on my salad (don't judge me, okay? We all have our moments of weakness). But let's get to the main event - the salad itself. It was...not great, but not terrible either. The lettuce was fresh and crispy, which was a relief, but the chicken was ok at best. I mean, I'm not expecting Gordon Ramsay to be whipping up my salads or anything, but a little seasoning would've been nice. Still, it was good enough that I didn't regret ordering it.
google avatar

Yelp
Another great place to eat, especially if you are looking for some fresh ingredients and freshly prepared savory and healthy meals., At least that's what I think. You can taste the freshness. Creative protein and vegetable based 'lighter' fare that seems to be what I need now and then. Their bowls are filled with green leafy stuff (variety of greens) and proteins that are properly prepared. Yes, you can still get stuff made into sandwiches and plates, but the overall product is something a bit healthier if your conscience allows. Do stop in if you can take the jets taking off overhead (OK with me...I spent more than 30 years working on, with or around aircraft). Go Navy! Dicks

Yelp
The food here is so fresh and soooo good. I took the team out to lunch today and I had the steak salad medium rare and it was BOMB! I think it cost like 16.95 and it was worth every penny. I know others on my team got the Cobb salad and some new bowls they offer with the veggies and they all said it was delicious. I took 6 people out to lunch and total bill was 110 bucks and the service and staff were really nice
google avatar

Yelp
First time. Went at lunch on a Thursday. Moderate traffic in the store, but Liberty Station is always busy. Lots of people ordered ahead on the app & proceeded directly to a table. Smart The good options are good. Pricey, but average for SD & our broke economy...but that doesn't mean it's worth the price (see below). Everyone in my party of 4 ordered something different & everyone enjoyed their food. I had a bowl of some sort with steak. Lots of flavor but 1/2 fat & inedible. (Cost of ordering steak.) My wife got the katsu chicken bowl & I ate 1/2 of it. Solid. Where this place needs help is in value. The portions are small, there isn't table service but they hold the drink/refills hostage behind the counter. I felt like I went to a sit down place but had the worst service. TG could fix this IMO by simply making drinks self-serve or more accessible. Panera is better in this category of restaurants, but I didn't hate it.

Kelly C.

Yelp
Ordered rustic chicken soup - had 1 potato, 0 chicken, 0 carrots. I can't believe someone would sell this broth for $6...
google avatar

Yelp
We had a group of eight. No reservations necessary unless party of 12 or more. A group of us gals were attending a concert at The Rock Church down the street from Tender Greens at Liberty Station. The concert was General admission so we scheduled our time for 330pm. That happened to be a great time for a group. We had a lovely gentleman take a group photo and we prayed and had fellowship. It was a lovely time. The food was delicious and then our concert was divine!! Thank You TG!

Yelp
Great salads and always fresh. Fall seasonal things are especially wonderful. Nice that there is parking close by.

Yelp
Food was delicious and drinks were refreshing. Service was awesome. Sat outside in the back with our dog.

Yelp
Free refills!! What more could you want? The food was amazing. I got the pacific bowl with Katsu chicken. The Katsu chicken was the right amount of crispyness and the rice came out just like sushi rice (it wasn't too mushy). The sauce was a nice amount of spicy (maybe too spicy if your spice tolerance is low). Everything paired well together and the rice and veggies balanced out the chicken with the sauce. The only thing I would recommend changing would be the cucumbers since they weren't really spicy, but vinegary. The employees were all nice and helpful and they let us try the agua fresca (pomegranate juice with ginger), which I would highly recommend. Overall it was a really great experience.

Caroline L.

Yelp
Chef Annie is amazing. Restaurant is always clean, the food is always delicious, and the service is always genuine!

Yelp
This particular one has been going downhill. I remember coming here when they first opened up and let me tell you the service from start to finish was phenomenal. For some reason those days are long gone left back in the past! The family and I came here one night and let me tell you.... We waited about an hour to get our food! It was a mess!!! Best solution here, find some motivated employees that'll go behind their normal duties!!! Learn from your other locations!! I haven't been to this location ever since!!!
google avatar

Yelp
The food was ! I ordered a chicken plate and the chicken was burnt!! I wouldn't recommend this place.

Yelp
Excellent Service! Thank you!!! Marfelia ! Your the best Your the sweetest, thank you for being so attentive.

Yelp
Jared!!!! He is the reason I'm writing this review. I noticed him being so helpful and providing such great service to the table next to me. So when my boyfriend went to get refill of their AMAZING Jamaica, he offered to serve it up for us and was very hospitable! We have come to this location and several other tender green locations but this one always gives the best quality and service. My meat was a bit on the red and chewy side but Jared's customer service compensated for it. I was embarrassed to ask for a second refill before we left, but he came in clutch and filled it up IN A TO-GO CUP!! TO THE RIM! Amazing service Jared,

Yelp
Always a great lunch spot! Love the Thai bowl and the california bowl! And can't forget a chocolate chip cookie.

Yelp
Tender Greens used to be so good. The food was fresh and made while you watched. I used to go here with my family regularly. I don't know what happened. I can here last night, and got a plate. The sliced salt and pepper chicken was dry and difficult to chew. It could almost be described as jerky. Luckily I had mashed potatoes to eat with the chicken to soften it a little. My kale salad was soaked in dressing. All in all, it was the most ordinary meal. My husband got a chicken sandwich that he could hardly eat because the chicken was so dry and tough. The flavor was bland. He didn't bother finishing the second half of the sandwich. I am sad that this place is unrecognizable as the Tender Greens we once enjoyed so often. I don't know what happened, but we won't likely be back.

Yelp
so this weekend .my husband and I traveled down to San Diego, to eat at my favorite place. Tender greens. what an disappointment when I went to order my happy vegan, only to find out it's now called Happier vegan. When i read the ingredients, was disappointed when no longer serving my green hummus, but an white hummus made out of corn hominy! Wasn't for sure if I was eating at a mexican restaurant or a middle eastern restaurant! I'm sorry but disappointed, so please bring back my happy Vegan plate, definetely not a happier camper!

Yelp
This was my second visit to the Liberty Station Tender Greens. This round was a celebration for the retirement and coming departure of a close friend in ministry for over 20 years. Though I don't rate Tender Greens among my favorite restaurants, I can assure you this is a place I would visit again as it is great for a relaxing, enjoyable meal, along with allowing spacious indoor/outdoor seating that facilitates enough room without feeling like others are hearing your conversation around you. I also would say the service was fantastic! One server frequently checked up on us - very impressive! I would say here that most of the visits were follow-ups to see if we wanted refills on our mint lemonade - always answer YES to that! This beverage is awesome, best of this type I've ever had by far. For anything here that I rated above that's four star, this mint lemonade is five star plus! I would go back to Tender Greens for it alone! My meal today was the seared tuna plate. This includes well-prepped truly seared properly spiced and sliced tuna, along with your choice of two sides. I joked at the counter that this is the kind of tuna you put in sushi and the server asked me if I'd like sushi rice with it - YES was my answer. My other side was romaine hearts with an awesome dressing (sorry! I can't remember what I chose!!). The bread that came with it was a little tough and chewy. Make sure your jaws and teeth are in good working order. It wasn't stale bread - it was the type of bread and I didn't ask what kind it was. I really only hit Tender Greens for it's portions being less than what they should be. Their meals are pretty awesome but someone younger than myself could still leave there a little hungry. But if you want to try Tender Greens, please do! This is not meant to turn anyone away. Also, I love bread with this type of meal, but I felt I had to fight with it, and that part was a little disappointing. All other things were pretty sound! I really do like how they make the specials and menu options easy to view and the entrance - and they welcome questions. At this time, masks are not required inside but hand sanitizer is readily available, even when you enter Tender Greens. Good restaurant that is well-liked in the San Diego area - it has earned its good reputation. Recommendation: HIGH

Yelp
No sense in having scheduled online pickup. They didn't start making my order until I was there for pick up. Don't go if you have scheduled plans. Think the food was rushed as my medium rare was much closer to rare than it should have been.
google avatar

Yelp
I can't believe I waited so long to go to this restaurant. I had the fried chicken, spinach, salad, and seasonal vegetable plate. It was so good! I will be going back to this particular location many times in the future.

Yelp
This place got Rid of all menu signs and now this is the only menu on the wall. Like all Restaurants now, they like to blame it on Covid and omit hand menus. To me it's just lazy to have the customer download a QR code if you want to read the menu

Yelp
Good food but not worth the terrible service. The staff here are working so hard but they have a terrible system for take out orders and it makes it miserable to come eat here. We generally like the food but probably won't go back again. We waited 45 minutes to get our food and the restaurant was only about half full. They have a really bad system for filling takeout orders and make the diners wait for so long while they make and package all the online orders. My son's meal had some moldy pieces of fruit. Very frustrating and disappointing experience!
