Reverie is one of the newest vegan spots to land in Williamsburg, having opened just three months ago. I stopped in for Sunday dinner and the dining room was surprisingly quiet.
The menu spans a few worlds--some Asian-inspired dishes, some Middle Eastern touches, and then your more classic "meat and potatoes," all in vegan form. It's divided into noshes (small, bite-sized items, though the carne asada tacos felt far more substantial than my broccolini), small plates (think tapas), and medium plates (entrée size).
Prices lean steep. The pastrami sliders, for example, come as a pair--generously stuffed, yes--but run $26. My broccolini appetizer was $17. Quality was solid, but I'm not sure it fully justified the price point.
Service, however, was excellent. I'm pretty well-versed in vegan food, but our server still did a great job walking us through the menu concept and the various protein options. Food arrived quickly and was beautifully plated. The broccolini was nicely seasoned, and the cashews added a welcome bit of substance. The potstickers, on the other hand, were tiny, and I had a little buyer's remorse--I probably should've gone with the pastrami sliders I'd been eyeing. The "beef" filling didn't have that crumbly texture of ground meat, but it was still tasty and convincingly savory. Nothing tasted overtly "vegan," which I appreciated.
Overall, it was a calm, pleasant meal. I'd come back to try more of their dishes--just with slightly adjusted expectations on portion size and price.
