Let me get to the meat of the matter first (see what I did?...). We had the brisket (from the point). It was moist, flavorful, and meaty......pretty much awesome! We also had a link of their original sausage. It had great flavor, wasn't greasy, and was very good. That being said, I like a coarser ground sausage than what this was. Lastly, we had the pork ribs. While they had good bite and good texture, they were a little sweet for me. I thought they had a cherry flavor, but a stop by the pit crew revealed that they only use post oak (no cherry) for wood. They did say they used a sauce to glaze them with, and while I didn't get the actual recipe, they said it has simple syrup in it, so that is likely where the sweetness comes from, though it doesn't explain the cherry flavor. Maybe my taste buds were just off.
Now, to the sides. We had the cream corn, potato salad, and banana Pudding. The cream corn was very disappointing. It was very undercooked and was so hard it was difficult to chew and swallow. The potato salad was just your average, run of the meal BBQ joint potato salad. Not bad, just nothing special. Lastly, the banana pudding had good flavor, but the consistency was more "whipped" than smooth, creamy, pudding. We were a little disappointed.
One special note.......the staff were EXCEPTIONALLY friendly and helpful. Everybody we came into contact with were outstanding! The facilty was also clean, updated, and generally comfortable. We would definitely dine there again.
