A Gem of a Thai Experience! Thai Opal is an absolute delight! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting atmosphere. The flavors in every dish are truly authentic, rich, and beautifully balanced—whether it’s the perfectly spiced curries, the fragrant Pad Thai, or the crisp, fresh spring rolls. The quality of ingredients is evident, and the presentation adds an extra touch of elegance. Beyond the food, the service is exceptional—friendly, attentive, and quick without feeling rushed. It’s clear that the staff takes pride in ensuring every guest has a wonderful experience. If you’re looking for a Thai restaurant that combines incredible food, a welcoming ambiance, and top-notch service, Thai Opal is a must-visit! Highly recommended!

Google
This was an incredible “hole in the wall” surprise find. It has intimate seating, low light romantic atmosphere. The meal began with warm lavender hand towels, and delightful service. The yellow curry is delightful at a level 4 spiciness. The dishware is beautiful, and the chairs were comfy. {I only wish there was somewhere to put my purse} Truly I can’t gush enough about this cozy spot with an unassuming exterior. They have truly given me an unforgettable experience.

Google
Soft shell crab spring rolls were good. Along the Thai Tea. However, $18 for a flavorless and bland pad Thai and pad kee mao is absurd. Very expensive for low quality staple Thai dishes. Also I believe the AC wasn’t working, so it was uncomfortably hot dining in.

Adrian Hernandez

Google
This is beyond your normal hidden restaurant. At first glance from the outside you would never guess how elegant and outstanding the food and atmosphere is. I could not give enough stars to how impressed and overly excited to know I have my new favorite Thai restaurant. This place just took me by suprise in so many ways. Hands down will recommend to so many it's worth trying.

Google
Great atmosphere. Good food. Their beef salad has more than just lettuce and cucumbers. They added micro greens to it. Very lovely, tasty, and healthy! Tom Kha was also fragrant. Warning, though... The kitchen staff are Thai. If you're not up to Thai style hot, stay with only three or four stars spicy levels. They really mean it when it comes to spiciness.

Google
What an amazing place! Went here on a date night and absolutely loved the cozy ambiance and white tablecloths. Staff was attentive and kind, and our server Peach was amazing!! The food was delicious, we got the Tom Kha soup (BEST EVER), the Spicy Basil chicken and the panang curry. We will absolutely be back!!

Google
Amazing Thai food with cozy and warm ambiance. Tried their red curry, green curry, garlic vegetable, Panang curry and papaya salad. Everything came out good but red curry is the best. Service is quick and courteous. Lot of vegetarian option is add on. Good place for nice family fine dining.

Google
Great food and prices service was slow they were training someone. Make a reservation if you are not local. It's a good place for a date

Yelp
Great little neighborhood Thai restaurant that serves up good food, in a good environment. The owner is really cool also.

Yelp
Came here with my nephew on a weekday for lunch. There weren't lots of people and it was a quiet environment. The decor was 'fancy' and my nephew was taken aback that he wasn't prepared. It was definitely one of the fancier casual Thai dining experiences.

Yelp
Takeaway food order was on time but was missing the side order of rice. Menu choices were as expected. Ingredients were pretty fresh. Potstickers were quite good. Beef soup special and green curry with tofu was over-salted for my taste but flavorful otherwise.

Yelp
The food pretty much what you get from a lot of more catering Thai restaurants service is very nice though sometimes a tad inattentive. The dishes we did try that were different from other Thai places were the pork dumplings and the khan so I. Those were so good. Prices aren't half bad at all. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
Everything was great - we had the Tom Yum Shrimp, beef pad Thai and the sweet and sour shrimp which came with a serving of rice and we ordered an extra brown rice. They didn't have pork nor fish for selection though and not sure if they ever offered them; hence the 4 rating. Nevertheless our dishes were delicious. We also had the sticky rice with mango and fried banana with vanilla ice cream for dessert and were also very nice. Service was great as our waitress came up a couple times to ask if we enjoyed the food. She was even kind to take a couple pictures. We also liked the ambiance as the Thai decor made the whole place authentic and appealing. They did have a couple of tables outside but too hot and humid to be outside. No issues with parking as this was located in a shopping center. We would visit this place again if we have another visit to Dallas.

Yelp
Incredible experience. Attentive staff. Welcoming owner, amazing server & delicious food. The ambiance is beautiful. The food was well presented with no long wait. Great for a date or casual night out.

Yelp
This restaurant was rated almost 5 stars. My experience was not close to that. The taste of the crab Rangoon was dry & stale and tasted like they were rewarmed or flash fried on old grease. The Combination Thai basil fried rice (chicken, beef, shrimp) was fair in flavor but also had a greasy taste to it. The shrimp was also mealy and mushy tasting!!! If I had gotten it more spicy, maybe I might not have detected the oily taste. For 2 items and over $30, this was not my idea of a stellar meal. Service was good for takeout and the restaurant is very clean and neat but food quality is over 75 % of the experience. I would not try this place again.

Yelp
My brother wanted Thai food and the best food to get was in Dallas. Inside was pretty nice, but Valentines Day was over, but they still had their decor which I did not mind. The other thing is, it does have a terrible smell, not so sure it is the chemicals they cleaned, it is hard to describe it however. I ordered the duck curry. The food came in at a good reasonable time. The food was a little spicy, but it was overall good and would not mind coming here again. But there was nothing to special on the menu I would want to come back as it is just a typical Thai restaurant.

Lauren P.

Yelp
Went while they had Christmas decorations and it was so cute and comfy. Their food has been consistent every time I have gone and the summer rolls are the best around. The owners and servers are so sweet. A family in the restaurant had just finished and walked out and the server noticed the son forgot his jacket and ran it out immediately to give it to him. They always go the extra mile and I'd recommend this place for sure!

Yelp
A lovely mom and pop Thai shop. My husband had the beef fried rice and you could tell it was cooked fresh even though it came out fast. I had the beef noodle soup and it was the most flavorful broth I've had in a long time, tasting 3x the price. The service was wonderful and the decor reminded me of visiting grandma. Sweet and delightful.

Yelp
Got takeout for a quick meal at home. The inside of the restaurant was pleasant - white linens, traditional Thai decor, considerate waitstaff. All signs point to a nice restaurant experience. Was even impressed by the wine list; most Thai restaurants don't have such a nice selection. The food was just Ok, does not beat Thai Gourmet in Houston or Thai Thumbz in Richardson, but I am tough on Thai food. The pepper steak was the best dish we ordered, but pricey - quality meat, nice large cuts, juicy and savory in flavor. The tofu eggplant was fresh and delicious. The basil chicken was just ok - even a bit watery. I think if you're in the neighborhood, this is a solid place to catch a meal, but not something I would go out of my way for.

James S.

Yelp
I walked in, stood by the 'wait to be seated' sign for 5 minutes, and walked out. I shouldn't have to search for an employee to seat me..

Danielle K.

Yelp
Had dinner here with my husband on a whim. Walked in around 5:45 and had the place to ourselves. Immediately greeted with warm hand towels. We were sat at a booth which was very comfortable. The ambiance was really cute, easily a date night spot. Started with cups of Tom Yum soup, spice level 4 (out of 5). The soup was delicious but 4 was no joke so I went a little slower on mine. Split chicken satay, the chicken wasn't as marinated as I've had elsewhere but the peanut dipping sauce was like legit peanut butter almost which we loved and came with another peanut dipping choice that was equally as good. 4 skewers so easy to share between two! By now a few other tables had come in which was nice to see, I already at this point thought the place deserved to be busier. It's just a cute cozy spot and we felt comfortable taking our time through some apps before ordering entrees. I ordered the Thai Opal Glass Noodle Curry, I love glass noodles and it was cooked well. I didn't taste curry as much as I'm familiar with but I was happy it was its own unique flavor. The curry to it wasn't a sauce like my husband was expecting. He ordered the Spicy Basil Noodle/Pad Kee Mao. His was very very good and saucier than mine. We only had water with our meals which came without ice which was preferable to me especially in the winter months! The service was excellent, we had three different people consistently checking on us but not in an obtrusive way. Did not use the restrooms so cannot comment on that. 2 cups of soup, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees was $62 This place is definitely worth checking out to anyone still reading and we'll likely be back.

Ashley S.

Yelp
The owner is the sweetest. The decor is perfect, it's such a hidden gem, we added it to a date night rotation. Don't knock it till you try it! The location may deter you but WOW!! It's so hidden and I'm so happy

Myra S.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years and always have loved it. Unfortunately, the last few times I've ordered from them, I've noticed that they took the cucumbers out of the sauce for the corn patties. I thought maybe it was a mistake but I had a large order to go last Saturday, and I always ask for extra sauce for the corn patties because we love the cucumbers in the sauce, but again there was nothing but a clear sauce, and it really takes away from the dish. We also got a large order of Tom Kha soup with shrimp. It had exactly 3 shrimp in it. Very disappointing because there are usually a lot of shrimp in the large portion of soup. The green curry with chicken was good, as were the drunken noodles, so maybe I will just stop getting the appetizers and that's too bad because they used to be great !

Yelp
It is ok... was expecting more as i have been here many years ago. Prices for the portions and taste. I assume they change cooks?

Ken M.

Yelp
Love this place!!!! Food is always incredible and the owner is fabulous. She is so personable and fun. Best panan curry in dallas.

Jay S.

Yelp
Eating their food from Uber eats right now, totally disgusting. Worst pad Thai ever. I feel like I'm going to be sick. Go someplace else for sure.

Yelp
Came here seeking a healthy meal while also craving my favorite: Thai. Was pleasantly surprised to find a Thai fried rice with a brown rice alternative. I got it with tofu and no egg, which was perfect for my new food lifestyle. It was delicious! So so good! I also got sautéed edamame which hit the spot! And filled me very quickly! Service was kind and accommodating.

Yelp
Our hostess this Saturday, midday, was very busy and alone out front - busing and cleaning, seating customers, taking orders and bringing out food, answering the phone and was visibly stressed. We took a look at our menus and had questions; but she was speedwalking through the place. Sometimes I can be a little shy about tackling waitstaff. Let's start with accepting that restaurant prices are higher because they need to be. I understand. Food is higher and restaurant employees need to be paid more. Why was it just her there? I didn't ask. Just accepted it. Although I'm okay with higher prices; restaurants need to make their updated menus legible and I had a legibility problem here at Thai Opal where they obviously kept trying to write over white out. Unfortunately, I just guessed at the price. When she did approach us to order, we started with what we could definitely read and then she turned and was walking away as I was trying to finish ordering. She was still talking to us as she was putting the menus away. In the end, I wasn't surprised when the spring rolls came and contained none of the chicken I had ordered. It was mostly wrapper and a few brown vegetables. I WAS surprised when they turned out to be $5.99. I didn't get that from the menu scribble at all and they certainly are not worth it. Tasteless fried sticks. Ironically, the dipping sauce was delicious. Thai Opal charges $1.50 for anything other than tofu and vegetables with their rice, curry and noodle dishes. I didn't find that to be very clear in the menu; but we asked. My spouse ordered a red curry with chicken. Heat level #3. Their menu didn't have Pad Kee Mao and I was craving rice noodles, so I ordered the Spicy Basil Noodles; a very similarly described dish. Heat level #3. He was happy with the flavor and heat of his curry, if not the portion size. My dish had pretty good flavor but absolutely no heat. A "spicy" noodle dish with no heat. I had a little to eat and stopped. Although she did stop back by to ask how everything was, I said nothing. I have to be honest about that. All I had wanted was to please my husband. If he was happy, I wasn't going to make waves. $40 plus tip later, we're out the door. I took my dish home and added pepper flakes and ate it watching TV. Thai Opal is a lovely restaurant with numerous good reviews. It just wasn't a good day for me, for sure, and I probably won't be back there for awhile.

Yelp
We have enjoyed take-out from Thai Opal before but dined in for the first time. The food was good and the ambiance was surprisingly comfortable for being in a strip mall. The service was outstanding. Although we enjoyed our meal, each dish had something that was a bit unexpected. The masaman curry was very sweet but had nice textures with the veg and nuts. The Lard Na had a great variety of vegetables but the noodles were over cooked and became gelatinous. Finally, the Garlic stir fry had nice flavors and lots of veg (especially carrots); the garlic was nearly raw and in big chunks. They were so pungent that we had to avoid the big ones (and we are garlic lovers). We will come back if we're in the neighborhood.

Yelp
I live 5 mins away from this place and have referred at least 10 people to try it out. They are getting a 1 star for service this past Sunday I had a friend name Angela pick up a crab fried rice meal which is $25 (I always order this meal btw) due to being sick. When I got it there was no crab at all (the cook forgot to add it). Had my friend call but the young man hung up so she then goes there. The young man brings it to the kitchen, the woman refused to remake saying she would lose out on $30 and that there was crab on the plate when she made it but chose to refund my money! I will try my best to not support this place again. Check your food before leaving because they don't believe you when there is an issue with your food!

Yelp
It was a very nice and clean place when we walked in. The server was nice and the food was very authentic. We had the pad Thai and lad na. We got both dishes hot but we are used to eating a lot of spicy foods. I would come here again and try something new. What I didn't really like was the pricing (I'm sure I can't really change that) but two dishes no drinks or appetizers coming out to almost $40 before tip. I understand food costs are pretty high right now. So just to be aware :)

Yelp
Great service. Food was a very good. I had the Thai basil fried rice with shrimp and pad kee mao and they tasted great. Water was good. Reasonable priced.

Yelp
This is one of the nicest Thai restaurants I have been to, bar none. The atmosphere is classy, warm, and comfortable. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The menu is thorough, but most importantly the food was fantastic. The orange chicken was very tasty and crisp while not too syrupy, as many places tend to make it. The Thai soup with shrimp was very close to authentic. The crab fried rice was delightful. We shared an order of crab rangoon, which was crisp and flavorful. This place was quite popular with people ordering food to go. I was even surprised at how many people walked in without having ordered ahead of time and sat at the bar for a short wait while the food was made fresh to order. It's good to know that even if I don't have the time to dine there when in town I can order food to go. They use other delivery services for their delivery. I was impressed at how friendly they were to the people taking food to go. They really seem to care about the quality of their food and the happiness of their customers. I love how the owner walked around the room speaking to the guests. I didn't realize how well she knew my friend and her mother who frequent this place. It was fun talking to her and hearing the laughter as the three of them spoke. I can't wait to come back and enjoy the spectacular customer service and the wonderful cuisine, that even the owner admits is a bit Americanized.

Julia W.

Yelp
An amazing ambience and the TASTIEST Thai food I've ever had! I highly highly recommend Thai Opal.
google avatar

Perna P.

Yelp
The food is very delicious and the service is great! We had the yellow curry, fried rice, and egg rolls. My only complaint is that our bill came and it included a 20% tip already; there were only three in our party. It was not clear that it was included because the bill was not itemized. I had to ask for an itemized bill.
google avatar

Fred E.

Yelp
Excellent food. Great service. Very nice atmosphere. When you are in the mood for Thai food this is the place to go. A regular and favorite place of mine to dine.
google avatar

Lily Q.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of thai food and I'm so glad I found this restaurant. The ambience here is great and it's a bit nicer than the typical casual eatery. We got a few of the lunch specials, which come with your choice of a side (either a salad, soup or eggroll) and your choice of drink (iced tea or soda). I ordered the pad thai and really enjoyed it! Very flavorful and a slightly different aesthetic to the dish, which was nice. There are also other stir-fry, curry and noodle options. I would definitely recommend trying this place out, especially if you love thai food!

Marian T.

Yelp
Lovely place, quiet ambience, careful service, it all in the details, warm towels, white tablecloths, generous portions orchids decorating the plate. We will be back regularly!
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place! What a neighborhood gem! We ate here for the first time for date night and enjoyed the ambiance and excellent service!! Thank you Thu!! Our server was so sweet and accommodating. The restaurant is very romantic with a beautiful candle lit table. The food is now my favorite Thai food in Dallas! Delicious, fresh, hot temperatures and filling. I ate the veggie spring roles, Tom Kha soup and Massaman curry. It wasn't very packed and more intimate inside the restaurant for a great dining experience. Noticed a lot of people picking up for takeout. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine which complemented our meal perfectly. Can't wait to go back!!
google avatar

Mike T.

Yelp
Easily some of the best Thai food that we've ever had anywhere. This has to be the cleanest and brightest restaurant, too. Very nice! We ordered the chicken tom kha, steamed dumplings, and basil flat noodles. Everything was super fresh, homemade, and absolutely delicious. So good that I even had to eat a couple spoonfuls of the dumpling sauce when we were done. If you haven't been here before, stop what you're doing and go! LOL We will definitely be back soon.
google avatar

Jeffrey A.

Yelp
The image speaks for itself, not much to say about it. The dish was as good as it looks. The atmosphere was on point as well with the candles and background music, and the staff was friendly! 5 stars and will be back! Great experience!
google avatar

Yelp
Thai Opal is the perfect Thai spot.... Great food, nice, clean atmosphere and friendly people! What more could you ask for?? (They also have my eggplant stir fry dish that I have such a hard time finding done well or at all and they make it just how I like it!) Since moving to Dallas from Seattle where Thai food is on every corner, we've tried most of the spots in the area. Since finding Thai Opal they are now our only place to go for delivery or dine in Thai. So glad we did. Thanks for the amazing eggplant! :)

A C.

Yelp
The quiet ambiance was nice. The prices were higher than I remember and the pad Thai was not good. My son tried it and agreed. The curry and spring rolls were good. For the price, it's not worth getting another meal that I don't want to eat.

Yelp
Very fresh and tasty food, I've never been disappointed with anything ordered. Owner is so nice and provides outstanding service.

Yelp
Ok I'll loved and have ordered and dined at this restraint since it opened. Its cute and quaint and the food has always been delicious. However on a recent visit I called in a lunch order on a Monday. When I walked in there was no one on there aside from the owner behind the counter. I see her there all the time and said hi and asked her business was and she replied.."it's a Monday." Well when she rang me up she charged me 17.85 for the basil spicy Noodle. I was perplexed and asked we why it was so much. She explained that they ONLY sell dinner and there is no more lunch menu. She never mentioned this on the phone when I first placed the ordered so I told her never mind I would like to cancel . She got annoyed and told me you've placed the order we already cooked it for you and that I could not return the food. Here's the deal, if you want to come here for lunch then be prepared to spend dinner prices! I see now why the restaurant was empty at lunch hour around 1pm. Its expensive! I'll pay for dinner at dinner. She said she was going to add a comment on her computer that she has now informed me and that next time I will need to pay dinner price. She could have saved her time typing, I WONT EVER COME BACK! Its bad business to take an order and never mention the new price update. Tell the customer and let them decide if the price is right especially when ordering at lunch. Its disappointing because I really did like the restaurant but there are a lot of other great Thai places around the area and throughout the city that offer lunch and dinner. Good Luck TO
google avatar

Anna A.

Yelp
i'd rate this place a 3.75/5. the red curry is thick (the thickest curry i've had to date) and very flavorful. i've never had curry this thick. i will say it's very expensive for what it is ($17 and it's just chicken). biggest draw back point for me. the thai tea is not good. it's watery and doesn't have much flavor, i wouldn't buy it again

Lisa R.

Yelp
Incredible! Large portions and very authentic . Nicely decorated and comfortable seating .We had pad Thai, curry and flat noodle dishes. This will definitely be my go to Thai place
google avatar

Tina N.

Yelp
Definitely a hidden gem in Dallas! Parking is easy, service is excellent and their team always brings out a new candle for you to enjoy with your dinner. Every new dish that I've tried is perfect! Also, BYOB if you want to bring your own bottle of wine to enjoy. They do a lot of take out orders, but no issues when I arrived without making advanced reservations.
google avatar

CR J.

Yelp
My favorite thai restaurant for thai coconut curries. Love their Red Curry. I usually get it to go and for a fairly costly price ($13) I still feel like I get my money's worth! It's a great portion of food that tastes absolutely fresh and delicious. When I decided to finally dine in, I was pretty disappointed. They do give you little hot towels to prepare your hands which is fancy schmancy. But that was about all we saw of our server while there- didn't refill our water until we asked for the check. Not the best when most people are eating spicy thai. Also my portion size was SIGNIFICANTLY less than I normally would have gotten from other thai restaurants Would much rather get it to go then. During COVID you can dine in.

Terry C.

Yelp
We were a reserved party of 10 and when we arrived everything was in perfect order. The warm hand cloths are a kind start to the dining experience in this quiet, calm restaurant. We ordered corn patties for the table, which came hot and delicious. Each guest ordered a different dish and each claimed it to be superb. The wait staff is friendly and very accommodating and at the end of the meal, the chat with the owner made the entire experience personal welcoming. We live five minutes from Thai Opal and it will remain one of our favorite dining spots.
google avatar

Sean B.

Yelp
Five stars because it's the best Thai I've ever had? No, that's crazy high praise and I'm a realist. 5-stars because this is my staple Thai spot where I live, big portions, reasonable prices, never had an issue with takeout, and if you're looking for a recommendation get the Masaman curry and load it with spice - definitely my favorite thing on the menu. [my wife loves their noodles!]

Yelp
Thai Opal is the answer to all of life's harsh realities. Bad day? Go to Thai Opal! Stomach growling? Go to Thai Opal! Will no one else listen and you just want someone to talk to? Go to Thai Opal. Undeniably the Thai Version of "Cheers" where not only "everybody knows your name", but they WANT YOU as their customer and thrive on serving quality food and boundless conversation! I wanted to be that person so badly, to stroll into this place and kindly turn down the dishes I was not familiar with, and beam at the shrimp fried rice on the menu; but with the help of Rattana, our kind, warm-hearted, funny, and friendly (I could so go on) waitress, who urged me to try something a little out of my comfort zone, with great assurance that I'd be pleased, I chose the spicy (spice level 3) basil flat noodles with chicken. Delicious and decadent it was with the most perfect lunch portion size. Not too sweet, not too spicy. Spice levels are from 1-5, so a level 3 would be just right for people like me and all my "one-at-a-time-flamin' hot Cheeto" eaters who can't quite mess with Taakis. Rattana, knowing it was my first time, brought me a complimentary Thai tea, consisting of tea, sugar, and cream, awakened my taste buds to complete the perfect ending to such a satisfying lunch. But wait! There's more! Out came a dessert a co-worker of mine ordered and shared with the table. Warm, crispy and lightly fried bananas with a chocolate drizzle, escorted with creamy vanilla ice cream, was the Sonny to my Cher, the Martin to my Gina. You can't have Batman without Robin, right? I digress. Rattana is truly amazing. She loves to chat with you, and wants any feedback you may have about your experience while dining. Thai Opal will be my "at least 1x a week" fix. Authenticity at its finest!

Yelp
I had the red curry with duck meat and steamed rice, and it was delicious! My girlfriend had the drunken noodles, and it was really good! In the pic I had fried shrimp wraps with a dipping sauce. Definitely recommend this place
google avatar

Yelp
I had the dinner Thai spicy flat noodles with chicken. Was very tasty and would definitely get again. The Thai tea seemed a little watered down, maybe due to melted ice or something. Service was great, also.

Yelp
I was in Dallas on an overnight trip in search for a bite to eat for dinner. I decided on Thai food and it lead me to Thai opal. I am picky about my Thai after being in Thailand for over a week on vacation. Upon entering it had a very intimate feel. We were seated at our table and ordered summer shrimp rolls as our starter. The summer rolls are your usually rolls made with rice paper and stuffed with shrimp and veggies. There was a peanut sauce for dipping but not the best since very runny. They were good but not wow. For our entrees I ordered Tom yum shrimp soup extra spicy (5 hot). It was spicy but for me maybe a 2-3 spicy out of 5. I will say that the flavor was solid and there was about 6-8 decent size shrimp inside the bowl. My husband opted for the spicy basil noodle with chicken. His spice level he opted for was a 3 and it was slightly too spicy for him. He did say the flavor was good. I had a bite of his dish and I didn't like it nor did I think it was spicy. To each their owns I guess? Overall your typical Thai place. You can find a solid meal but nothing that wowed me. .

Yelp
This is a very quaint and cozy restaurant, a surprise to me. I had the Pad Kee Mao and the spice was perfect! My friend had the coconut soup for the first time and wasn't crazy about it. The broth was more sour than coconutty. We went for a late lunch so we mostly had the place to ourselves, which was great!

Dawn H.

Yelp
A jewel in a rough place. The ambiance was amazing. Service was great, and it had wine and beer. Food perfect.
