Houston’s Best Kid-Friendly Restaurants | Eater Houston

"Bellaire families flock to this neighborhood gem for any occasion. The open space can easily accommodate groups, and the menu of modern takes on American classics and Mediterranean-influenced cuisine has something for everyone. Start with baked goat cheese with bacon jam or cast-iron spinach artichoke dip served with homemade tortilla chips, pico de gallo, and tzatziki. Choose from entrees such as gyro plate or seafood etouffee. Kids can nosh on pasta, burgers, or chicken, and then move to the dedicated kids’ play area with games, books, and a TV to give the grown-ups a break." - Brianna Griff

The 11 Best Kid-Friendly Restaurants In Houston

"Bellaire is a family-friendly neighborhood, so any meal you eat here will probably involve kids—yours or someone else’s. The ‘401 and Tap’s menu has southern crispy chicken that’s way better than what’s normally served at places catering to kids and families. The dining room is large, with plenty of tables, and room for high chairs. But it’s the kid’s lounge filled with books and a TV to watch Ms. Rachel that provides you with the much-needed quiet time, where you can spend an evening (or at least 10 minutes) with a Tito's drink called Drop It Like It’s Hot. Make sure to go in on a Monday when your kid eats free." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene, julie takahashi

Upon opening the door, I was loving the interior of the restaurant. There was a bench surrounded by fake flowers for customers to take pretty pictures. The bar area was on the right. I had the fire-roasted Brussels sprouts, and Sun-Dried Tomato Lemon Pasta. The Brussels sprouts were crispy, but the sweet chili sauce didn’t had any spiciness to it. The lemon pasta was flavorful. It was lemony, but not tart. There is a kids area with TV, tablets, and books for kids. Kids eat free on Mondays with purchase of an adult entree. There is ample parking in front of the restaurant. Reservation isn’t necessary, but the influx of patrons during peak hours is high. I would go back to try other dishes.

Wow, if I had more time during my vacation I would want to come here again. My family came during happy hour from 3-6, and it’s available during Monday through Friday. They even have daily specials too, which are more for the grown ups, featuring discounted alcohol. We got the happy hour pepperoni and truffle pizzas, which were about 10-12 inches, a medium size, and I was pleasantly delighted by the flavor of my truffle pizza. It was fragrant, topped with arugula and a fried egg. In this economy?? A $10 pizza with an egg is a steal. We also wanted to try the hot honey chicken and the flavor was mind blowing. It was the perfect balance of sweet and spicy and it came very hot on a hot plate. Even my son’s chicken tenders and French fries were perfectly crisp and seasoned. The atmosphere was more mature, considering they had a full bar, open patio, and a plentiful wine and cocktail list, but there was still food items for the kids. Our server was polite and prompt as well. Ensuring we had everything we needed and that our water pitcher, he provided for our table, was always replenished.

A safe bet: good food and service. I've been coming here for a while and everything I've tried is good. If I could give 4.5 stars I would. This place is definitely worth visiting. Family friendly, good happy hour, nice patio, free parking.

Google
TL/DR - Solid good food, disorganized staff Food is pretty good. We come here often for work. Staff is great, but the management is disorganized. Don’t order the wings. For some reason, they put a finger food on a searing hot cast iron skillet — why?! 🤷🏽‍♂️ I have seen two people get burned and I am surprised there hasn’t been a lawsuit.

Google
I like this place. My whole group always enjoys the food. We are sort of nutty but the waiters never seem to get annoyed with us, so great wait staff! We like the atmosphere, especially the flower garden at the front!

The ‘401 Table and Tap “Airy, informal gathering place with indoor & outdoor areas, dispensing cocktails, wine & bar snacks.” Here’s what I ordered ⬇️: 🔶 BAKED GOAT CHEESE. Topped with your choice of homemade bacon jam or crumbled candied walnuts and dried apricots and served with a toasted baguette. $14 🔷 PARMESAN-CRUSTED RAINBOW TROUT. Crispy, pan-seared rainbow trout served with sweet chili-glazed Brussels sprouts and sun-dried tomato-lemon pasta. $24 🤔 I prefer a little more seasoning on my fish and pasta but these were still good. Here’s what I thought 💭: ✅ Free, easy, and convenient parking 🅿️ in a strip mall like surface lot ✅ Good customer service. I was greeted promptly and the staff were attentive. Ashley was my server. The manager Keyonna welcomed me introduced herself. Mary also checked on me throughout my visit and they all were great. ✅ Good food ✅ Food was prepared and delivered to my table quickly ✅ Great price point - affordable ✅ Variety of menu options including gluten free, vegan and vegetarian dishes ✅ Good portion sizes ✅ Full bar and kitchen ✅ Indoor and outdoor seating (including covered area) ✅ Clean ✅ Cozy ✅ Family friendly ✅ Spacious ✅ Offers catering ✅ I recommend and plan to return At the time of posting, I dined here once on Tuesday August 6, 2024 around 2:30 pm EST. 📍6700 Ferris Street Bellaire, TX 77401

Beautiful spot with delicious food. The service was a bit slow but we enjoyed the ambiance. The decorations here for Christmas were great. We will be back again to try out other menu options.

We enjoyed "Everything" about the 401. Upon entering, the ambiance was very calming and relaxing. The lights were dim, but still bright enough to function. Our waiter was very pleasant and courteous. When we arrived, it was still happy hour, so we enjoyed a few food and drink options before our main meal. All of the food and drinks throughout the evening were exceptional. The manager stopped by to check on us and we had a very enjoyable exchange of words. Between the pleasant staff, nice ambiance, and food & drinks, it was an amazing experience. Looking forward to our next visit.

Yelp
So we came in for lunch on a Monday with a another family for a party of 4 adults and 6 kids. So The '401 has a Monday special where kids eat free with the purchase of an adult entree. You can definitely tell this place, while a great brunch and date spot, also caters to families. There is even a dedicated play room for the kids so that the adults can actually have some conversation. Fortunately, we were there early so our large party of kids didn't have to fight with other kids inside. I really liked the Sun-Dried Tomato Lemon Pasta and The Chicken '401. While we had a brand new server who made a few mistakes, we could tell he was really trying and he was very polite and courteous. The decor inside is trendy and clean and just adds to a very pleasant experience. I am sure we will be back, especially with the Monday special.

Yelp
Okay this place is cute and has a lot to offer both on the menu and in unique experiences. The interior is really cuteee. Also interesting note they have a child's play room. The menu is very diverse and has something for every pallete whether you're vegan, pescatarian or a carnivore. They also have an array of beverages to choose from both alcoholic and non alcoholic. Our waiter was great and very helpful with choosing apps and entry selections. We ordered the jalapeno hummus with pita bread and I found it to be pretty bland. For my main course I ordered the vegan Mediterranean bowl and I added salmon like other reviewers recommended! Umpt ya know I wasn't that impressed but it did taste fresh! Now would I try this place again yes! Because the service is good and I want to try their brunch!

Yelp
I tried this place because I was looking for something on the healthy side to eat and it didn't disappoint. The server was nice and helped me to choose my meal. I ordered to go and it took me about 15 mins to get my food. There was a little waiting area that was open to the restaurant which was nice. My meal was tasty and the portion size was large. I would definitely visit again.

Yelp
Food here is amazing! Service is always good and they have a kids entertainment room so good place for families. The inside gets really noisy, so much so that you almost have to yell over dinner, but the outside is nice if it's not too hot out. The frozen mule is my favorite drink, plus it's strong!
google avatar

Yelp
Charming neighborhood restaurant and bar with ample outdoor dining space. I only dropped by for a drink while waiting for my wife to finish her hair appointment. Servers were nice and enthusiastic about the menu. Options were plentiful and I was told everything is good. I look forward to returning to try the food.

Yelp
I had never heard of this restaurant before, my friends mom held her annual ladies Christmas gathering here this past weekend. This was a last minute reservation as the restaurant we had previously picked had a mix up with our reservation. I was so impressed that the restaurant was able to accommodate our party of 12. Our waiter was so nice and friendly and all of our food came out in a timely manner and everything came out correct. The food was delicious and the restaurant was very spacious. I'm obsessed with their Brussel sprouts! Everything was so good. Their carrot cake was delicious and such a good size for several of us to share. Will definitely will be going back. Parking is limited as there are several businesses around.

Yelp
One of my fav spots to introduce ppl to. Stopped by for lunch my most recent visit. Service was paced well, waitress and manager were friendly. Hostess was rude because I had water that she didn't recognize. Manager explained to her all water is allowed inside. I've never had an issue with it there prior to this. Go to order: crab cakes & brussel sprouts Other favs: pizzas, pastas, goat cheese salad (my friend loves) , frozen mule, strawberry puree lemonade They have a ton of fun motivational and funny framed quotes in the restroom.. chill vibe

Yelp
Freakin' excellence! Outstanding! I had two different signature cocktails of theirs that I randomly picked just to be surprised. They were both delicious, thirsty-quenching, and potent. I wish I could remember which ones but, it doesn't matter. I plan on going back and trying them all. Beautiful bar and their barkeeps know their stuff. The beef tenderloin quesadilla was exceptional. Sriracha wings were good. Fun place. Great service. Food and drinks very good.

Yelp
As u can see by the photo of my dish... a time was had lol went here on Monday for kids ear free special and ordered the most popular thing on the menu which was the Mediterranean fusion bowl (with blackened salmon And grilled shrimp) which was worth it and .... Phenomenal. The salmon was so flavorful and cooked to PERFECTion. EVERYTHING in this bowl tasted amazing together and was enough to last me two meals.

Yelp
Looking for a kid-friendly restaurant to bring my great nephew and great niece to, I reached out to Jando, my Yelp Elite connection. He shared several options and the one that stood out was @the401bellaire. Had many choices for the kids and still a foodie place for the adults. Dad had their fresh Strawberry Lemonade, my brother had a Corona, and I had the Pepe Chelada. One of Dad's favorites is the Spinach Artichoke Dip and this one was made in a cast iron pan. Yummy! The kids had the Penne Mac and Cheese and Grilled Chicken. My sister in love had the Crab Cakes as her meal. Was a bit disappointed that it didn't have more chunks of crab. Dad and I shared the Italian Meatloaf. Thought he would have enjoyed the mashed potatoes but Dad didn't care for this version. I thought it was good. My brother had the Pesto Margherita Pizza. For a sweet treat, my great nephew and great niece shared a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Overall was a decent meal.

Yelp
Second time here and we tried something completely different. The food was equally good if not better. Perfect atmosphere for outside dining on a breezy day. Service was good and appreciated! Good happy hour menu! But a little pricey, especially when you order a few old fashioned and multiple apps and entrees...lol! Try the Brussels sprouts. They look ugly but taste great!
google avatar

Brenda A.

Yelp
Food was perfect the grilled vegetables would have been a meal by itself they were perfectly done and spiced just right. I felt service was somewhat lacking, he never checked to make sure food was okay or if I wanted another drink. Had to ask for a doggy bag.

Yelp
Nice neighborhood restaurant in The '401. Start with a snack or a small plate. The fire-roasted Brussels sprouts are so delicious. The crispy Cajun chickpeas are such an addictive, tasty snack. Favorites for dinner include the gyro plate, salads and seafood entrees. The grilled salmon is topped with guacamole, feta and chopped tomatoes. Served with French green beans, butternut squash and sliced pita, it is a good choice for dinner. The gyro plate is like a deconstructed gyro. Lots of space in this open concept restaurant. Make a reservation as they can accommodate large groups or sign up on the Yelp virtual waitlist. They are always busy. Parking is available. Nice to have dinner at The '401 in the (77)401.

Yelp
This is a lovely neighborhood restaurant with a cute outdoor dining space. It's located right off Bellaire Blvd but in a hidden corner, it's private and quiet. For the appetizer, we had to get the infamous fire roasted brussel sprouts, it is as good as expected. You won't be disappointed. If you are in the mood for pizza, try something unique-their Shrimp Mango Pizza, with pesto sauce. It is so refreshing and delicious, crust is baked to perfection, light and thin. You can't go wrong with their OG burger, the meat patty is big and juicy. Most importantly, my partner couldn't stop raving about their fries that come with the burger, which are mixed with their special seasoning (I think it's Cajun?!), they are so good! It did take a while to get the food, but the atmosphere is so lovely, we really didn't mind.

Yelp
The food here was definitely a nine out of 10. I got the Gyro and I absolutely loved it. I was really shocked by the taste. I'm from Chicago and gyros are something that we don't play about! Well done, chef! My son got a pizza and it was also pretty good. The ambience to me is very beautiful, very calming , very relaxing. They also have a Wrong that is particularly for kids so they can go in there to socialize with each other while you're at the dinner table maybe talking in a meeting or just having some alone time with your partner. I think that was like the highlight of the night.

Yelp
The food was amazingly fresh. You could taste the love poured into each of the dishes that my party and I had. The server was extremely nice, as well. Walked in without a reservation and was sat immediately. Great place to people watch and enjoy a great meal.

Yelp
We had a great weekend brunch with kids at The '401. Great brunch + kids don't usually go together, but The '401 has this awesome kids' playroom with books, games, and a TV with cartoons, and our kids were so happy to enjoy that kids' playroom while we waited for food, etc. The food and service were good too--I liked my chicken and waffles, and others in our group seemed to like the brunch menu as well. The food wasn't fancy but was tasty. Overall, a great lunch with kids spot.

Yelp
Don't be fooled driving up to this establishment. The restaurant is nestled near the old Sharpstown mall, but is in a nice well lit building. My friends and I met here last night and it was packed. The decor is rustic and they have a spacious patio. Their were so many food options. Most of the items are American Fare but their were Mediterranean options as well. Everyone had something different at the table and enjoyed their choices. I got the Rainbow Trout which came with Brussels and pasta. Food came out quickly and hot. Rainbow Trout 7.5/10 Crab Cake 8/10 Salad 8/10 Smoked Sage Margarita 8/10 Pineapple and Netflix 9/10

Yelp
Average experience - good place to catch up with people who like American food. They have a pretty basic menu with tacos, salad bowls, sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, and pasta. Prices are average maybe overpriced with the amount of protein you get. My friend got a chicken sandwich and the breading was too thick, she gave 3/5. Fries were also soggy but seasoned well. My other friends enjoyed their Philly cheesesteak sandwich and chicken 401. 4/5 I got the seafood etouffee and was actually surprised at the amount of crawfish. I wish the etouffee and rice were separate because it felt like bits of rice and seafood swimming in the stew. There were also only 2 measly pieces of garlic bread that was not enough. However I did enjoy the dish 3.5/5. They have a kids play area so I think this may be popular for families. Pretty busy on a Friday night. Ample parking.

Yelp
Nestled in the heart of Bellaire and named after it's zipcode (#1), The '401 really tries to be everything to everyone. They've been a popular destination for all the wonderful amenities and community support. After seeing all the wonderful amenities they have, it's not hard to see the're among the most versatile establishments in the neighborhood. For starters, the place is modern, clean, and incredibly spacious. To say the place is group friendly is a bit of an understatement, as they can accommodate massive groups no problem. The decor is on point and feels super friendly for all They have a nice and sexy bar, complete with televisions and ample seating. Their outdoor patio is perfectly partitioned from the main dining hall and they have a big open kitchen in the back. Restrooms are spotless and they clearly cater to families with a dedicated kids play room. I've only been here for brunch, but I gather the place is ideal for all occasions. The food is kind of a eclectic mix of American fare with nods to a bit of Latin and Middle Eastern cuisine. A majority of the menu leans hard into salads, bowls, sandwiches, pizzas and pastas. It literally is a mixed bag. They really do thrive with healthy eats and have a number of alternatives that go beyond the usual salads. From beyond burgers to cauliflower crusts to the standard brussel sprouts, it's an impressive array of stuff. Don't sleep on the protein bowl if possible. bs up. I think the protein bowl is a good choice, are hearty, yet light. Beyond that, the burgers are solid despite the small'ish patty. I have been pleased with a majority of the brunch choices, especially the omelettes. The lemon pasta and the cajun chickpeas are fun. While their pizzas are okay for snacking, I think the quesadillas are a safer bet. The mac and cheese is close to an abomination, which is really just some sauce and penne pasta. I was very pleased with the service. Most of the wait staff is amiable, professional and very easy going. Parking is very abundant with a self-contained lot and the prices are moderate: not too low, not too high. Reservations and online orders can be done directly through Yelp as well. ___________ (#1) 77401

Yelp
Food Delicious sandwich very filling and a great portion. Potatoes were perfectly cooked, seasoned and fruit was crunchy and fresh. Ambiance Great for family and friends. Semi-casual. I was given menu at the tables and ordered with a waiter or waitress. Service 5/5!!! Waiter was very attentive to all orders and requests.

Yelp
Always friendly and efficient with a nice variety of choices and always busy. They do serve and too. It's a quaint, trendy little spot tucked away on the corner near the post office with inside/outside seating. My absolute fav is the Power Bowl with quinoa kale patties. Every single bite is delicious! They pack such flavor into every single ingredient. The QK patties are so good, I could eat by themselves. But add all the veggies and the perfect bit of basmati rice and you have a bowl full of bright nutritious perfection. It comes with choice of dressing, but seriously none is needed. . My other picks would be the baked goat cheese followed by the spinach dip. The burgers look very tasty , but I haven't tried one yet. They have curbside with a smile which is what I did in this review. The generous portions are carefully plated and packaged. I did order the peach tea bc I'm always looking for a refreshing caffeinated low cal, but alas they have me regular tea -bummer! But the rest of my specifications were spot on. Definitely pop in the next time you're in the Bellaire area.

Megan N.

Yelp
What a great place and experience with friends! The hot honey pop corn chicken was amazing along with the baked goat cheese.
google avatar

Yelp
I came to The 401 expecting nothing less than greatness, and let me tell you... it almost delivered. I shared a salad because, obviously, portion control (I have to save room for my daily iced coffee ritual), and indulged in the spinach and artichoke dip because I'm worth it. The dip was creamy, cheesy, and honestly, could have been my main meal if I weren't such a lady. But here's where we lost a star: the lighting. Was it a restaurant or an interrogation room? I felt like I was on trial for my appetizer choices. Also, the server was too nice. Like, suspiciously nice. What do they want from me? A five-star review? I don't give those out like free samples at Costco. Will I be back? Probably. But only if they dim the lights and give me a loyalty discount for my future expert food critiques

Yelp
Fun spot with great food! Casual Place but has a really fun vibe! Large bar area with lots of TVs. Good cocktail and wine lists. Cute area called "No Majors" for the kids which has a door so everyone isn't listening to yelling kids. Service was great and food was very good! Make sure you check out the specials menu!

Yelp
I don't know what I was expecting, I searched mimosas and outdoors; yes outdoors. I set outside on the patio, immediately someone brought water. I asked for recommendations on a few different options and ended up with Beef Tenderloin sandwich with fries and a flight mimosa (pineapple, strawberry and orange juice). The juice is freshly squeezed. Great choice!!! The sandwich hit the spot. Flavorful just the right amount of everything and the fries.... The FRIES.... Amazing. Im a fry person and its not normal for me to like the fries but I loved them. This place isn't far from me, the prices are reasonable, they have free parking, the food and service was good. Yes ai will definitely be back.

Yelp
Fantastic menu with a great selection of apps, salads, and entrees! The goat cheese app is spectacular and could be eaten again and again! The staff are very friendly and helpful with suggestions, and the atmosphere is lively! A great place in the Bellaire, TX area! Will definitely be back!!!

Yelp
First time here. Very cute and chill decor. Loved that they have all the Bellaire HS yearbooks, I was able to find mine (c/o 2004). The staff were very friendly. The food was great, they have a little bit of everything for different tastes. Definitely coming back. I loved the kids room, they have an area for them which is cool for the little ones.

Yelp
Enjoyed my recent trip to The '401. Great to see a laid back, neighborhood establishment in the area, featuring a menu with great variety. We tried the Baked Goat Cheese and Fire-Roasted Brussel Sprouts for apps. Both were dependable. For an entree, I really enjoyed the Steak Sandwich -- fresh veggies and a great sauce on the steak. Outside of the food, the experience was a bit lacking. The restaurant was out of all burgers, then ran out of fries right after we received our food. Our server was extremely well meaning, but seemed to be balancing a lot of responsiblities, so it took a while to place orders and get plates to share the apps. We might have dropped by on a busy evening so this wouldn't hold me back from visiting another time. If I lived in Bellaire, I think I'd come here all the time as the neighborhood watering hole / "I'm too tired to cook tonight" spot. Living 15 minutes away, I'd definitely check back in next time I'm in the area, but might not go out of the way for it.

Yelp
The '401 is a refreshing breath of air in an area that has been around for a long time. I really welcome new and updated business to spruce up the environment. The faculty itself is pretty unique in where it shows itself as a brunch/lunch spot, but also a sports bar, lounger area too. Quite unique. We met for lunch and the menu provided more "modern" dishes such as power bowls and wedge salads to bistro burgers and artisan sandwiches. Food wise tastes good, nothing to spectacular. Pricing remains on the steep side of things. However, with how the food industry is going, pricing seems to be on par with everywhere else. ~$20 for an above average lunch. I love how they have a small area for kids to watch a movie or play games on ipads. It gives it a very "homey" feeeling. The '401 is a pretty good local brunch/lunch spot. Next time im around, I will have to try the brunch fares, which is only on the weekends.

Yelp
This is an awesome restaurant! Diverse menu with lots of healthy and delicious options! Service is usually fast and there is plenty of seating indoors and outside. It sometimes gets busy on weekends but they take reservations. Inside is super cute too. This place is a Bellaire staple!

Yelp
This place is a little hidden gem in the heart of Bellaire that I feel doesn't get enough credit for what it is. I've only ever been here for lunch, and I'm so glad the locals know it's value and worth. This place can get pretty packed for lunch, even during the weekdays. The menu features some pretty standard staple items for lunch with offerings from burgers, soups and salads, to pizzas, and even items with a Mediterranean flair. I would wager that everyone in your party would find something to their liking. The portion sizes are decent and the pricing is appropriate. I got the Chicken Fried Chicken which was pretty good. Everything was seasoned well and tasted great. Their entrée salads and salad bowls looked pretty awesome as well - filling, nutritious, and still light. I love that this place actually has a little play area for the kids as well. The parking is relatively ample, but again, this place can fill up pretty quickly, so I would go earlier rather than later. It is also nestled behind a shopping strip, so it's not quite easily seen from the main street, but I assure you that it's there. The service is good and there's not much that takes away from this great place.

Yelp
I've come here a few times and the service can be a hit or a miss. Everyone is always friendly, but it takes them a while to come check on you. With that being said, the food is always delicious. They also serve some pretty good drinks too. They have a nice variety of options on their menu. My favorites would be the beef tenderloin fajita salad and the parmesan crusted rainbow trout. The brussel sprouts they have are sooo amazing. Their pizza is also good option. I like that they have cauliflower crust available although I haven't tried it yet, but I will soon. The restaurant has a nice vibe with a bar and a patio. It's a nice place to come for a casual dinner.

Yelp
The shrimp and mango pizza, OG burger, and spinach artichoke dip was delicious. However, the angel hair sundried tomato lemon pasta with grilled chicken was flavorful but chicken was very dry. It was cooked too long. Hostess was friendly and welcoming. Server was attentive. Overall, give this place a 4 out of 5 stars.

Yelp
This is a nice spot that I presume is busy during brunch. We visited on Sunday afternoon and it was very quiet but the service was great. I ordered a salad and the black bean soup. The soup was incredibly flavorful and I was not disappointed. Crab cakes were a great starter. The fish was incredibly large portion. My husband wasn't entirely impressed with his gyro. Several fries were left untouched. This is a place I'd return. The decor is pleasing and not overwhelming and they do have tv screens if you want to catch a game.

Yelp
Yelp came through again! This place is nice. Very spacious and the menu seems to serve everyone. There are options for the regulars, vegans, and gluten-free folks. You can have a water, coffee, or libation. Our waitress was attentive. Parking is plentiful.

Yelp
Ups and Downs like any other place. The servers were polite and attentive. The restaurant itself is pretty. It took a while to get a table, even though the restaurant was half empty when we arrived. The drinks and food were average at best. I had the beef & shrimp tacos. The meat was fine, the "slaw" was undressed cabbage, & the pickled veggies were literally hunks of carrot? Mixed veggies on the side had a fine roast, but just no seasoning on anything we tried. Overall, the cost/quality trade off just wasn't there for me. There are many different restaurants I would've been happier to spend a $50+ bill at. I would not go out of my way to come back.

Yelp
We had an excellent meal at the bar and our server/bartender was as nice as could be. I had the "small" plate of Southwestern Quesadillas and they came out stinking hot and were so good. My husband had the Bistro Chipolte Cheese Burger. Beautiful presentation, but they cooked it medium-rare instead of the requested medium. He just decided to bring the meat home and cook it for a leftover. The French Fries were delicious! The frozen margarita was a good thirst quencher!

Yelp
Excellent atmosphere, service, and food! Thanks to a Bellaire local for introducing me to this place. So nice to dine at a restaurant that offers real nutritious food at a great price. Greater Houston is the best because of semi-hidden treasures like this place. I never knew this place was here.l and so glad to know now. I'll be back!!

Yelp
For a neighborhood restaurant, the '401 is an easy choice if you just don't feel like going "inside the loop" for a meal. The menu is interesting, with a selection of staple items from Greek, TexMex, and American menus. Yet somehow the choices feel boring, especially for brunch. My crab cale benedict was fine, as was my waffle. But with Dandelion Cafe just across the street, it's hard to imagine wanting to go back to '401 for a "it's fine" brunch experience. I've had their pizzas for lunch though, which are probably the most enjoyable and interesting offerings on the menu. The '401 is a great choice if you're a Bellaire/Meyerland local, have family in town, but Houston highways terrify them. Or maybe they're not adventurous eaters and want comfort food. Otherwise, spend the gas money on a more interesting food experience.

Yelp
Delicious lunch with family. Server, Suzette (see photo), was delightfully friendly, very accommodating, and attentive. Wonderful server, that made a very good meal even better. I had the Cuban black bean soup, which had firm, tasty black beans, a bit of feta, and some pico. Excellent dish and nice size portion. I then had the Greek omelet -- three eggs, spinach, feta, and tomatoes. Healthy and delicious, with fresh tasting ingredients. Good coffee too. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Salmon bowl looked great btw. Comfortable, nicely furnished venue. Reasonable prices in my opinion.

Yelp
Very clean and nice place, the server didn't write down the order and forgot to bring 3 of the things that we ordered! The food was good

Yelp
I was craving spinach dip and decided to try The 401 as they were the closest restaurant to me that served it. I went on Friday at around noon and it was nearly a full house but I was seated instantly. Due to the number of people, I didn't take pictures of the interior but I liked the aesthetic. It felt like a mix between "Industrial warehouse" with its exposed beams, metal and wood furniture, and brick wall and "farm to table" with its sporadically placed greenery and mason jar table settings. The spinach dip came with pico and tzatziki sauce. It was good but I needed to add salt and pepper to taste for it to reach its full potential. It was $14 which seems a bit pricey but you get a lot (I was eating alone so it may not seem that way if you're ordering for a group). For my entree, I got the Brussel sprout and goat cheese salad. I must say there were several menu items I wanted to try so this was difficult to pick. The salad came with fried goat cheese, roasted and glazed Brussel sprouts, and a salad mix. It was tasty. Sweet and a bit nutty. It was tasty and filling. I don't regret the decision at all. Overall, I enjoyed The '401and was impressed with there menu. It had several vegetarian and gluten free options and even had some tasty dessert items that I plan to try during my next visit.

Yelp
All I can say is delicious! Perfect spot for a group where everyone wants something different. Their menu consist of a little bit of everything and I saw some great healthy options as well! The tres leches cheesecake was a bit dry but everything else was perfect. Our server was great and the manager even came by to make sure we were doing okay. Perfect spot for happy hour as well!

Yelp
I really didn't know about this place existed. It's a small pain to get to thank goodness for gps. I met up with one of my groups for lunch and I really liked the decor in the place and the food was good. The service was nice and kinda efficient due to our group. Will definitely come back for another meal.

Yelp
The food was really tasty. We had the Brussels sprouts for an app but the entrees were really great! Mike our server was Hilarious and personable and made sure we were taken care of every step of the way! The food became out quickly and was seasoned to perfection. Didn't have room for dessert, perhaps next time! The 401 is pet friendly and the outdoor seating was cool. I love the location. It's tucked away off of Bellaire and didn't feel overtly crowded! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
The food was exceptional. I had the meat loaf, and my husband had the chicken pot pie. Both delicious. I've never had better. Waiter was very attentive. Excellent service.
