"The Angry Crab brings the simple concept of a Louisiana crawfish boil to the Midwest, including the part where you can bring your own beer. And the food at here exceptionally good. The way it works is you order different types of shellfish that come all together by the pound, plus pick a sauce style and spice level. Pretty simple really, even if there are a large number of combinations in play. Once your order is in, lace up the bib and wait for the good stuff to come. The seafood comes out swimming in a sauce-filled plastic bag that gets dumped on your table. It’s going to be messy, you’re going to get dirty, and feel free to toss the shells around the table as they are emptied. Nobody will even notice, because everyone’s table will look like they just went to war with their food. And ultimately, it’s the sauces that makes The Angry Crab so good, because when you immerse shellfish in buttery, garlicky, spicy goodness, all is forgotten and nothing is lost. Food Rundown Seafood You have a number of options: snow crab, blue crab, Dungeness crab, king crab, soft shell crab when in season, lobster, shrimp, mussels, crawfish, and clams. That should cover it. Considering this is a Louisiana style crab boil, crawfish are a must. After that, the shrimp and then mussels are surprisingly our other favorites. King crab legs are a good option too. There’s no wrong order. Sauce Insane = lemon pepper seasoning. Grumpy = garlic butter Smoking = angry spice seasoning. Don’t bother reading into the different types. Order your seafood maniac style every time, which is a blend of all three. Spice There are four levels of spice, and if can't make a decision, one of the two middle spices are where you’ll want to be. Extra Dirty Add On’s Angry Crab charges you a bit more for pieces of corn, potato, and andouille sausage, which run from 50-75 cents a piece. The sausage has a good bite to it and is really good, so we suggest ordering at least one piece per two people. Get the corn and potatoes if you’d like, but it’s not a big deal either way. Cajun Fries Get these fries if you want something to keep you occupied before the shellfish bag comes. The seasoning is a bit addicting, so try not to down them all too quickly." - Sam Faye

"The one that started it all. The Angry Crab brought the seafood boil craze to Chicago in 2015 and attracted hoards of hungry fans when it began serving crawfish, clams, lobster, and four different types of crabs by the pound. Get them in lemon pepper, garlic butter, Cajun sauce, or a “maniac” combination of all three. There's a second outpost located in Wicker Park." - Jeffy Mai, Eater Staff

Another "not my first time here, but first Google Review" for this place! Honestly would have been 5-stars if this was many years ago but this place had a facelift and not for the better, unfortunately. It's been so long since I was here last but maybe now a brighter and cleaner interior. The Ultimate Eat option was ok for two people but was missing a bit of sausages. Cornbread and rice were good. The smell of garlic definitely sticks to you. Also beware of the automatic $18 or so service fee when paying for the bill.

Hey y'all back again. Still in Chicago! Well this time we were hungry and I wanted some good ole' catfish. We left the Southside which I regret, and my niece decided to choose this place. I asked before we walked in if there were people in the establishment. Because it looked a lil empty outside. She's like they are eating, so I walked in to get Sunday dinner. My mom was so cold she asked the waiter to cut down the air. Dang on man cut on the heat!!! Guess he wanted to keep Mom's warm. Well we glanced over the menu. They had no slaw! I was like this ain't dinner this lunch. So I ordered catfish, Cajun garlic fries, and this snow crab fried rice. The waiter brought that rice, I didn't say another word. Rice was sweet moist and savory. It was slamming. Now when he brought out that fish! It taste like chicken and grease. 🤦🏾‍♀️ the fries was the bomb. Then I tried the Cajun wings. Chicago salt and pepper is seasoning!!! Lol this was the most unseasoned meat I have eaten. But that crab fried rice and fries was an A+, customer service A+, but that fried chicken and fried fish D- no seasoning too much grease!

I'm a big seafood lover. Have been to several boil house like this one. This restaurant has its unique style. Their seafood is not too impressed me. The clams were separated when it came to my table. The shrimpa were way too small. They don't provide something for you to put the shells. They don't provide gloves unless you are willing to pay. But overall, I believe it may be the best seafood in Chicago.

Google
Love this BYOB spot. Been coming here for years and the quality of food is consistent and delicious. They also have a cute little Photo Booth which is a neat way to remember your visit there. Their menu is mostly seafood, but for the non seafood eaters they do have some fried food and some garlic noodles that are pretty good.

I don't mind the price went up because quality still there but can't take the 3% Covid surcharge. It just like staff support and this is restaurant responsibility not customers. No more business for this place.

Google
Messy but worth it! First off its BYOB but they offer water and soft drinks. If its your first time here it can seem confusing but the servers will let you know how it works. Pick your seafood (only comes in per pound!) and you can pick whatever and now much you want! Pick your seasoning (maniac is the way to go its definitely the most popular and delicious, just a little kick!!). Add extra spice if your daring enough! It all gets boiled in a bag and served to you as such. They give you needed utensils but forks and knives aren't something that is automatically given if not asked. Plenty of paper towels around and like another reviewer said they were prepared having 2 sinks in the back! A bib is given to help keep your shirt clean. When I went they were out of blue crab and crawfish, something everyone wanted to try! Only thing I was disappointed about. Great seafood (wayy better than Joe's!) and friendly staff. As messy as it is to eat, the restaurant and bathrooms are very clean!

Google
Great, must try experience. The seafood here is so fresh and delicious!!! The place is loud with people, music and sports on tv.

Google
Had a blast eating here. A friend brought me for my Birthday and I loved it. Hate that you only get half a corn or 2 or 2 potatoes when ordered. Andouille sausage was clutch with the seafood. now I habe to take my Girlfriend here lol

Yelp
Very good food and nice service. Very very expensive restaurant. If you want to serve crab legs by prepend

Yelp
My boyfriend and I have been coming here for years every time we craved seafood and getting messy, eating with out hands. We've even brought our family and friends here so their tastebuds can explode. However, we recently came back and were so disappointed! This is just in regards to the seafood aspect. The service and fries, besides the seafood, were excellent (but the seafood & sauce IS the whole point). We started with 1/2 dozen oysters. Not gonna lie, they looked gross when they first came out. The flavor was ok, just a tad fishy. Then we ordered our usual with whole shrimp, mussels, crawfish, and snow crab legs with hard boiled eggs and corn. We got the maniac ragin' bull for flavor and spice. In the past, the sauce would be filled with flavor and seasoning. It would be finger licking good! Unfortunately, it was so bland this time and barely had spice. We did let our server know and he was kind enough to bring us a small container of extra sauce, but even that was pretty flavorless. :( As for the seafood itself, everything seemed to be way overcooked and not the freshest. The cajun fries made up for the seafood boil (they were so crispy and yummy) but overall, it was a dissatisfying meal.

Yelp
The perfect group spot for seafood lovers! My boyfriend and I invited friends in town to dinner on a Friday night and they love seafood - so we chose The Angry Crab in Edgewater. Why? Because we couldn't pass up no wait, BYOB,free street parking and a reasonably priced, diverse seafood menu. When we arrived, we were seated quickly and given the QR code to scan. The atmosphere is no frills, but clean and uniform. The tables are covered in fresh butcher paper and all customers get a seafood bib with a crab printed on it. Trust me, this was appreciated given how messy fresh seafood can get. We ordered the fried calamari, Cajun fries, a pound of spicy shrimp, a lobster roll and a grilled lobster tail with veggies. Each and every dish was fresh and seasoned well - the calamari was a standout with its golden crispy crunch and house sauce for dipping. Our waitress was also very attentive and friendly. To house our drinks that we brought, we were given an ice bucket. The bill came out to around $100 with tax and tip, which we appreciated for a group of four. Overall, I highly recommend!

Yelp
There's something cool about eating very flavorful seafood in a bag with your hands. You dive in hoping to find more and when you do find that hidden shrimp it's just glorious. They changed the look of the place since I last been there. No longer do you have unlimited rolls of paper towels on the table. This time you have to ask for some which is fine. We had the ultimate EAT in maniac, level 3 spicy. Perfect for the two of us. My hubby also ordered oysters for appetizers which he enjoyed. Will return again in a few months.

Jessica D.

Yelp
Disappointed. Food is not the same. Seafood portion is small for spending $130. Never coming here again.

Yelp
We arrived early so for about the first half of our meal, we were the only party in the restaurant. The servers did come by quickly, but then were literally impossible to get to come back. In an effort to order after waiting for a *long* time, we tried several times to get the attention of either person sitting in the back deep in conversation. At one point they finally saw us, but still didn't come over. Since we were still the only party in the restaurant, we finally asked, "Do we need to place our order at the counter?" The two continued their conversation for a minute before coming over to take our order. Other parties did come in later in our meal (maybe 3 or 4 other tables, I'm not sure), and the two staff there were responsible for all tables, but they were spending the vast majority of their time talking to each other, n serving tables. When servers are running, we are more than patient. This was just two people who made it seem like we were inconveniencing them when god forbid we needed more water. Getting the check was a near impossibility as well. The service was beyond terrible.

Yelp
We were really excited to try this place. When we sat down, we realized there are no prices anywhere and the menus are tricky to understand. We decided on the Premier Feast for 2 for $200 that was in the bar code when we scanned using our phones. The waiter said "it's under a different name at this location but it's pretty much the same". When the food came out it was an ENORMOUS amount of food and we asked multiple times "this all comes with the $200?" To which the waiter said yes. Turns out the waiter billed us for the Kings Feast and not the Premier Feast. When our bill came it was over $350 and the young girls at the front were super rude telling us "you should have looked at the prices, you were on the wrong location, you ate the food"..... why didn't the waiter TELL US we were on the wrong menu...? I understand we ate the food but that is because we thought that was what we ordered for $200. They almost refused to fix the price until after 10 minutes of saying they can't do anything about it, "all they could do was take off the 15% service charge" . Very disappointing experience but 3 stars because the food quality was great. Next time would go to the other locations and not here where we felt taken advantage of with no remorse.

Yelp
The closest thing to a body of water in Chicago is Lake Michigan, which is freshwater. That said, I'm simply tickled a city a thousand miles away from the Gulf of Mexico could have a seafood eatery good enough to rival the ones in Houston and New Orleans. I say this as someone who doesn't consider seafood among his favorite cuisines. The fried jumbo shrimp with fries is a surefire winner. Not only was the shrimp nicely battered and seasoned but they were big -- almost as big as chicken wing drumettes. I didn't taste any salty gaminess that comes with edible crustaceans. Also, the kitchen staff wasn't stingy with the Cajun fries. It was impossible to finish them all. One cool thing about the restaurant is that diners can tag the walls. Matter of fact, I read some very interesting screeds in the restroom. I should mention that my cousin discussed doing Korean BBQ or this place earlier that day. I'm so glad to have an open mind.

Yelp
Very good in all aspects: service, food, and atmosphere. Flavor levels were as expected. Had the King Crab 1 lbs was $89. Head on shrimp was excellent. Snow crab, Jonah crab were good. Crawfish were mediocre but that was expected (and we were told) as they aren't in season so they aren't fresh (live) but frozen so definitely not the fault of the restaurant. Definitely recommend!

Tiffany T.

Yelp
Yummm! I created my own bag of 1/2 lb shrimp, 1/2 lb clams, and a fried oyster basket with cajun fries all for $38. For the sauce, I had maniac seasoning with ragin' bulls spice level 2 and it was delicious! So much garlic and good kick of heat. No seasoning overpowered any of the others. And I even saved the sauce for the next day to eat with my own frozen shrimp :) The shrimp and clams were really tasty, I would definitely get them again. The fried oyster was good too, but a tiny bit fishy tasting. It also looked more like an entree of fries with a side of oyster lol But I really love oyster and would probably get it again. Next time though, I think I'll try the charred oysters! Cajun fries were great! They were extremely well seasoned, and had good heat and strong flavors. They weren't crispy by the time I got home, but I'm sure they would be crispy if I dined in. Overall, Angry crab is kind of pricey, but I would eat there again when I want to treat myself and if I want bold spicy, and garlicky sauce with seafood!

Yelp
Looks like ownership changed, staff is not very friendly, manager on duty (Asian guy) was rude when seating and barking orders and hung around the back. Asked if they changed owners and got a strange response. Food was purely Ok, their garlic noodles and rice was very sweet and not edible but no one bothered to ask if everythjng is ok. Not like it was before the closure. They seem to have kept the recipe for everything else.

Jon L.

Yelp
Great food. Outside looks a little rundown but inside is fine.

Yelp
Make sure you're reading the most up to date reviews! Beware loyal Angry Crab customers... this unfortunately is not the same place it used to be. This was a family favorite restaurant of ours for so many years. We were so excited to return after it's recent remodeling closure, but was extremely disappointed in our experience. We ordered our usual meal and the prices have nearly doubled. It's very deceiving because the prices are no longer posted overhead on the chalkboard, nor on the menus, you have to scan the QR code to view the prices. Price for whole shrimp went from $12.99/lb to $21.99/lb? We ordered the same spice level and maniac spice and it tasted completely different. Nothing close to what it used to be. The quality of the seafood was good, unlike other reviewers, thankfully ours was cooked just right. The service was good, but food just didn't taste great, and you're paying a lot, a lot more than what it should be. Beware of falling for paying double for tip. Even for small parties (less than 4 people) they will tack on a "service charge of 18%" then ask for additional tip when your receipt returns! That's too bad because we would've tipped 20-22% if they didn't try and sneak that on there. It honestly breaks my heart that I have to give Angry Crab 2 stars - what happened to this place? It's got to under new ownership. They might as well change the name of this place. It's just not the same restaurant it used to be.

Yelp
If you haven't gone here yet, you're missing out! We ordered "The Ultimate Eat" which is suitable for parties of 2 or more. Our bag came decked out with shrimp, snow crab legs, mussels, Jonah claws, 2 lobster tales, andouille sausage, corn, and potatoes. It also came with a side of fries and 2 sides of white rice. We were able to choose which seasoning/flavor we wanted as well as level of spice. We picked the "Maniac" flavor which is a combination of all 3 flavor choices: lemon pepper, garlic butter, and Cajun seasoning and chose the 2nd level of spice deemed, Ragin' Bulls. Every bite was a blast of flavor and the level of spice was perfect. The seafood was definitely fresh and the sausage was SO GOOD! GO! GO! GO! (But come ready to get messy!)

Salvador M.

Yelp
Ultimate Eat - Fries: Good, crispy, hot and fresh. Pretty good. I like the crispy layer and soft layer inside. Ketchup is pretty good. - Ultimate Eat: We got the mild sauce and it was not that spicy, it sort of lacked a bit of flavor so I do recommend going with a medium or above. Only 1/2lb snow crab, so it's one half of a whole crab. Sausage was a bit undercooked, rice was nice and steamy, shrimp were good, however the mussels were a bit chewy and one had seaweed in it. We asked for melted butter three times and they gave us a small sample container rather than anything I could really douse my crab with. Overall the flavor was a bit sub par to my previous experiences at Angry Crab. Vibe: I have been here before. I like the old aesthetic better - the menu used to be chalk written. Now it's letters on blocks. Service: The service is pretty fast. Food comes out quick, server was nice and present.

Yelp
What happened to the sea of people waiting outside for a table on a Friday night? Well, it worked in my advantage so why am I questioning? I met an old friend who has never been here and she loved it! We ordered an ultimate eat combo which consisted of shrimp, mussels, snow crab legs, lobster tails, corn and sausage. It also came with a side of fries. The seasoning was just perfect and although we both love spicy foods, we opted for ferocious bear level of spiciness (3 out of 4 level). Service was friendly and the noise level was way down from lack of customers. By the end of our meal, a group of 12+ patrons cane in. I only noticed when the host started to dragged the tables together told them "no splitting checks" in a very loud voice. Granted, I'm sure it's a policy, but, there's no reason to be rude.

Yelp
Took my husband here for his birthday. We had been coming here for years, and just knew the seafood would taste amazingly the same. I know this location was closed for some time and I don't know if they have new management/staff? We got our usual fried calamari for appetizer, headless shrimp, snow crab, sausage, corn, and potatoes. In the past it was the flavorful sauce that made the seafood. It use to be thick and seasoned well( we could see all the seasonings including the garlic). I would ask for containers to take sauce home. This time, the sauce was runny, thin, and weirdly sweet. Seafood had absolutely no flavor whatsoever and seemed a little overcooked. We had drove so far to come to our "favorite" place. My husband especially was highly disappointed. With so many other crab boil places closer to us, we will be trying them out. Angry crab, you have lost devout customers.

Syrena F.

Yelp
The service was awful. Came here with three other friends of mine thinking the food and service would be amazing like how it was the past few years (2021 and 2022). This one chick which was our waiter, (maybe Camila), was rude and had an attitude. It took forever for our food to get out when we were missing white rice and garlic bread. I asked for the white rice and garlic bread. She questioned what the garlic bread was and never brought it out until we took it up to management. When paying, the four of us wanted to pay separate. She gave so much attitude, dirty faces, smirking, and it took so long. She didn't bother checking in on us once when we were eating and never gave us refills or napkins to begin with. I was about to fight her not gonna lie. We were very very disappointed. Owners shouldn't have changed at all. Don't come here. Honestly should've asked for a refund.

Yelp
Well today was our 17 year anniversary so with the Covid Stay at home still in affect we ordered delivery from here. Omg we have always wanted to try this place so when the food arrived Hot the food was out of this word. We ordered the Ultimate Eat and believe me when I say it was so good. Taste, presentation, all around great quality food . We are definitely hooked on this place. Thank you for an amazing anniversary dinner

Araceli C.

Yelp
I order deliver on this covid 29 era 1 lb shrimp Potatoes and corn Was bland no flavor i should order spicy And was too grease lots butter or margarine not sure what they use Was a lot have lefth overs for next day Grub hub The deliver leave the bag hanging on my building door

Yelp
We did a big group dinner here for a friend's birthday. Wasn't too excited about going as I was sure there would be a long wait for a party of 13, but the place was surprising empty on a Wednesday night. Not sure if that was because the Cubs were playing or what. The short and sweet of it is I will be back here for the Lemon Pepper Wings and the Oyster Sampler. Those two dishes were outstanding. The Oyster Sampler was great and was a lovely presentation. There was a presentation of three types of oysters: raw, Louisiana and California (both were grilled). All three were great. They nailed the Louisiana ones...so awesome and delicious. The California ones were grilled to perfection and topped with what looked like a salsa with avocado, cilantro and tomatoes. I also got the Lobster Roll. It was ok, but not $18 ok. It came with fries...it was ok, just not $18 tasty. Not a dish I would repeat. What I like about this place is that they do have options for folks who don't eat seafood. As strange as it sounds, you may have someone in your party who does not eat seafood. There are chicken tenders, noodles and hot dogs. My husband got the Alligator hot dog...it was good but honestly I could tell that there was that much gator it in. Another friend order an appetizer of garlic noodles. Man that thing is a meal in itself. Lots of garlic, so if on a date, make them eat it as well. The rest of our party all got the bag and boils with various seafood. Me personally, I am not a fan of having all my food in a bag with a lot of grease, no utensils other than a claw cracker, and a roll of paper towels. Too much work for me, but my friends seem to enjoy it. All of the seafood, corn, potatoes and sausage were in the bag. Fortunately there was a sink nearby so they could wash up. Be prepared to drop some cash if you are doing the boils as they are at market price. For me, waiting in a line for an hour to get wings and oysters ain't gonna happen, but I can definitely see going back for at least take out.

Jessica C.

Yelp
I always loved Angry Crab and think it is the best Cajun food in the neighborhood. Tonight I ordered 2 pounds of crayfish take out, after opening the bag, the only thing I found was dirty - dirt covered crayfish. I understand that crayfish lives in mud, but proper way to handle it before serving is to clean it up, such as by using a brush to scrub off the mud. The pictures attached are just an example of the many dirty crayfish. It's gross. Sad to say I won't be going back anymore. THIS IS A RESPONSE TO THE OWNER DAVID N. : my review said "the best in the neighborhood" and it didn't say "I come for a long time". The crayfish was clearly dirty and the mud can be easily wiped off by napkin (see the attached third picture). You argued that your kitchen can't clean them up, well, glad you share the information.

Joe W.

Yelp
So I'd always wanted to try this place because I love seafood. The food was outstanding. The problem is that it costs twice as much as what would be normal. Literally twice as much. Won't be going back

Tj M.

Yelp
Such a cool low key unpretentious bar vibe and the absolute freshest and most delicious seafood. Also nice patio with outdoor seating. Service is great and the people genuine. This will be go to going forward when I want seafood. Highly recommend!

Tammy M.

Yelp
The food was excellent the service was outstanding. The problem came when we opened the menu on Yelp. The ultimate feast was $72 when we went to the restaurant there were no prices on the menu and the same dish was $89.99.

Jelena S.

Yelp
My cousin took me here and WOW! We got shrimp, mussels, crab, corn and sausage with all three sauces. FINGER LICKING GOOD. The flavor is soooo good that even when I was full I couldn't stop. The flavor is addicting. Very cool vibe inside, chill and fun. Service was quick and fast. Parking was decent street parking. Try this place!

Stan S.

Yelp
Love this place, first time visit. We will be back. Our server Marco gave us excellent service. We had to take home There was so much love this place.

Nina K.

Yelp
I had high expectation when I saw how many great reviews this place had, but I'm sorry to say this place is disgusting. Negative star for this place. I've eaten crawfish everywhere in the US... from California to New York and all the states in between, so believe me when I say I think I know a thing or two about crawfish boil. 1. Extra charges: Who charges for gloves at a crawfish place, but give you extra bibs? Literally NO ONE! 2. FOOD: We ordered chicken tenders. My husband asked for honey mustard. They gave him regular mustard. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE! And honestly, honey mustard is standard with chicken tenders at 99% of restaurants that serve the dish. We also order a lobster roll that smelled and tasted like canned tuna. It did not have pieces of real lobster, but more of mesh lobster meat from a can. The fries were decent, the clams were decent, but the crawfish is definitely disgusting. However, that's now why I wish I could give them negative stars. What upsets me the most is that they straight up lied to me when I asked them if the crawfish was live given that it's crawfish season and the price is $14.99/lb. I asked one of the wait staff after eating a couple of crawfish if the crawfish is live and he said yes. Then when I asked him if he was sure he backtracked and said, "no, it's not live but it's fresh." Then why say it is and why is the price so high? Overall, I would not recommend this place due to their poor business ethic. I was just at Lowcountry yesterday where I could taste the freshness of the crawfish. AND the price was only $13.99/lb. I definitely recommend you going to one of their locations instead of this one.

Tricia D.

Yelp
It's a rainy Saturday night, and we're hoping the weather conditions and early dinner time of 5:15 work in our favor for no line at Angry Crab! And yes! We didn't have to wait for a table for 2. Score! If you haven't been to a dining establishment like this, it's a no-utensils-wear-a-plastic-bib joint. You get your seafood by the pound served to you in a bag full of delicious juices and spices. We gorged on a whole Dungeness crab (about $40), scallops, deveined shrimp, and a lobster tail. I enjoyed the ease of eating those scallops. My mini epiphany was my, Dungeness crab is a lot of work for what little meat there is. A first for us: we cracked open the body shell of a crab (and had to ask an employee how to do so!). Best decision ever was to get a side of rice, and spoon the maniac sauce onto said rice. Mmm mmm mmm! While I was skeptical about the maniac seasoning (a combo of lemon pepper, garlic butter, and Cajun spices), it was by far tastier than each of those flavors alone. It took 30 minutes or so for our food to be served. Finger licking good! Our bill was about $65pp after tax and tip. The hand washing station in the back corner of the restaurant is ingenious! Very useful... even though your fingers will smell like a wharf for the next day anyway. Those who are sustainability minded will not be happy at the amount of waste churning out of this place, between the plastic bags, plastic bibs, paper "tablecloths", plastic cups, and all the shells and stuff from the seafood. Oh! And the rolls and rolls of paper towels! Atmosphere is energetic, with upbeat, club-like music to get your adrenaline pumping and roaring to dig into that seafood! We will definitely be back!

Zack B.

Yelp
Horrible service. Would not let me pick up my order because I had my dog with me. I was not dining in, I was picking up food. I've brought my dog in the past for the 1 or 2 minutes it took to place the order and wait outdoors, never was a problem. The food isn't spectacular, and quite over priced at that, so ultimately there isn't really a reason to come back.

Nicole D.

Yelp
I spent $80 and received dry crab claws, shrimp And noodles that were over cooked, inedible , and reeking full of OLD garlic. I called the restaurant and the chef argued stating that the garlic was made fresh today. First off, the chef should never argue with customers and secondly I am in the food industry and I know how to properly use garlic and what happens to garlic when it gets old. Also very unprofessional that postmates couldn't help telling Me that they couldn't provide an order number and told me to contact the owner.

John Paul A.

Yelp
I been coming in this store since it opened. Made an order today. Spent $160 and found that our order are wrong flavors, missing corns on 1 of the bag, 2 chicken tenders order was not in our bag when we got home. And the most disgusting is we found 1 of 8 shrimps order a corn that's been eaten by someone already. Called the store manager Randy said it is impossible. Making us look like liars. He also said that he don't have time to refund the 2 chicken tenders we ordered. I hope they not recycling their sauces after costumer eats. Lmao. I would pull a fast one on them 8 orders of shrimp NOT fries. I would loved to see that video you reviewed.

Yelp
Amazing, amazing, amazing. Can't wait to come back. The crab was delicious, the crab rice out of this world. The sauces were delicious as well. Don't wear anything with long billowing sleeves, or fringe because you are eating with your hands. Fun place!

Yelp
Angry Crab never disappoints with their food or their service! The food is always so flavorful. The ambiance is always welcoming. This is definitely a "must go to" place.

Yelp
Be ready to mess your hands when you get here. Wash your hands very well and wear your plastic bib provider by the place. This place is so crowded and busy at night and weekends. Communal tables and casual seating. Their garlic pasta is to die for. Ordering is per poundof whatever seafood you want. You can add corn, sausages and potato too for extra price. Then choose your sauce, i recommend Maniac sauce then fire it up with their chili sauces. If youre into fork and knife dinner then this is not your place.

Yelp
This was a wonderful experience. It was wheel chair accessible and also very clean. The food was delicious and served in perfect portions. There was a great vibe.

Yelp
As a Californian transplant in Chicago, I'd like to say this place is amazing. Angry Crab has the taste, the feel, the ambience of the crab boil places out in California. It definitely met my expectation on what crab boil should. We were a party of 4 and the wait time was 1 1/2 hour and half. We checked in at 5:30pm. Angry Crab utilizes a texting feature to let customers know your table is ready. If you're with friends, drop someone off first to place your name on the wait list, because PARKlNG is difficult. Street parking only, so please be prepared to circle around or hunt for people who are leaving to take their spot. Waiting game. There is not a whole lot of space to wait inside, so be prepared to wait outside. Wear extra layers, as it is getting colder in Chicago. People opt out to wait inside their cars and wait for the text message. You have 5 minutes to check in after you receive the text to confirm you're table again. You can also download the app that allows you to track where you are on be waiting list. To pass time, you can always bring a sharpie marker and tag up the wall with your markings. Angry Crab allows their customers to write on their walls. Happy tagging! It also BYOB, no hard liquor though, so you can drink your beer while you wait :) So the food. OMG! King Crab leg is KING crab leg! The size and portion was so huge! My friend and I split a bag. We order 1 pound of shrimp, 1 pound of King crab Leg, along with 2 orders of corn, potatoes and sausage. Our spice, we chose maniac! maniac is a 3 sauces (lemon pepper, Cajun, and garlic butter) our spicy level, we did number 2 just a kick. I also ordered a side of number 3 spicy sauce.. I'm glad I ordered the spicy sauce #3 on the side because it was SO SPICY! I'm pretty tolerant of spicy food but whoa, it was too spicy. If you can't handle spicy, don't do spicy, If you can, just do 2, because 3 makes it too spicy and you'll won't be able to enjoy it. Angry Crab has tons of TVs so you'll be able to watch whatever game is on as well! Overall, I super recommend this place for anyone who loves seafood especially crab boil. PLEASE PLEASE know that the wait times can be ridiculous,up to 2 hours or 3 hours..., but know it's worth it! Come early if you can, if you come after 5:30pm, the wait time gets more crazy! So don't be surprised! I tried to warn ya! For other California transplants in Chicago, if you want to get your Boiling Crab, Claws, Kicking Crab fix, this is the place to do it! Happy Angry Crabbing it! #angrycrabchicago

Yelp
I just got one $67 cold meal delivered from the angry crab. Was supposed to be a dinner for 2. Came with one "$5 Jewel/ Mariano's sized" lobster tail, 6 shrimp, and 1 kabob of veg. No extra sauce as requested and everything over cooked and fishy tasting/ smelling. Restaurant refused a refund, credit, or apology. So confused. I would be out of biz if I ran this way. Glad most others seem to like this place. My husband and I were so hungry after picking through what was edible I had to make quesadillas. *rolling my eyes RESPONSE TO DAVID M. Still this meal delivered was over cooked and fishy. For $67 dollars. Do 3 grilled peppers a 2 slices of onion constitute "grilled veggies"? I called the restaurant before this review and never got a call back. Classy way of doing business and, yes I am a beast and eat a TON of food. Your portions suck. Feel the floor vibrate when I walk in. I have been to your shops in person and have never had a problem with the portions. What a confrontational response form you. I'll be disputing the charges. Great energy of being petty. Go on with your "$5 Mariano's lobster tails"

Yelp
Being a huge Cajun fan and a huge seafood fan, even though I've been to several other Cajun seafood places, this one was high on my list because of all the hype. The line is usually out the door whenever I drive by, so I made sure to get there right at open on a Saturday. It was perfect, there were only three tables there so no wait. Service was good. Ambiance was okay, very chill and comfortable. It is messy, I mean real messy. I was surprised that they didn't have bowls for shells and heads and such, just pile them up on the table. I didn't love that aspect - feeling a little gluttonous once I realized the aftermath. Food was good. Although, shrimp clearly aren't cleaned prior and while I still ate them, I detest the vein and other stuff in there so I had to clean them properly prior to eating. That wasn't my favorite part of the meal. We did the $79 deal with a side of garlic noodles. Loved the noodles and if I returned, for sure would get them again. I liked the food, but think I may try a different location because I walked out content and full, but not over the moon like I have been at other restaurants of this type.

Yelp
The flavor always hits the spot!!! We've been coming here since the day they opened it more than 10 years ago.. We love eating here!!

Yelp
This place is awesome!! I am a huge seafood fan and spicy food lover and this took care of both of those! There were 3 of us and we started with an appetizer of the garlic noodles (SO GOOD) and cornbread (also amazing). For the main meal we ordered Louisiana Char Grilled Oysters and a sampler meal that included shrimp, lobster tail, king crab legs, and jonah crab with the Maniac sauce and Level 3 spice: Ferocious Bears. The food was incredible. The level 3 spice definitely had a kick but wasn't overwhelmingly spicy and didn't overpower the taste of the seafood. You will definitely need the bib they bring out for you and all of the paper towel that is provided. The hand-washing station in the back is also super convenient! FYI it is BYOB so definitely bring drink to quell the spice of the seafood. I will definitely be back to this place!

Yelp
I love the Angry Crab. A table full of seafood yumminess. They give you these unattractive bibs but trust me. Wear them. Not cheap but worth every penny. Every penny. The bathrooms are clean and the workers are so nice. Myles was our server and he was exceptional.

Yelp
I get the hype. I really do. This place packs out like wow and there is a constant flow of patrons coming and going. I'm not one for large parties, so my sister and I checked it out. Spicy Cajun fries with garlic. Crab legs. Lobster claws. Shrimp. Andouille sausage. Corn on the cob. Bread. Rarwww. We got it spicy and devoured everything except for the shells. And it was a good idea to get bread for sopping. Forget Chicago hotdogs and pizza, it's on the list for repeat visits. Warning: The wait can be long. Don't go with huge parties, expecting to be sat quickly like you have celebrity status.

Yelp
Food It was my first time to try out but I don't think I will have second visit. I would say food itself just ok. What I experienced just sauce over seafood, and it was salty. Also we had blue crab fried rice but just rice. My rating only for fries. Nothing more than that. Service I totally understand the gratuity included for party of six since we all work as a server. But it does not mean that I agree their service worth 20%. Tips are reasonable for amount of people not for the service. We do not expect very good service but at lease show us some caring. Please do some job, collect those garbage instead of standing. I can't image leave us keep eating at the messy table without any space.

Yelp
Male Host is SO rude. Restaurant was empty, would not seat me when I asked for a table for 2 and when I said my bf was parking the car and coming he made a ugly face at me and had an attitude and said they just don't I have to stand in the door and wait. There's no one there... why can't I start my order if the restaurant is empty. Hosts are supposed to make you feel welcome to the restaurant and he made me not want to even spend my money there so I walked out. Do yourself a favor and go to the wicker park location they have a much better atmosphere then this dump. Should reconsider having such poor mannered staff who gives customers attitude , it drives your customers away.

Yelp
The food here was horrible and very salty. The servers were nice that's why i gave 2 stars instead of 1 star.

Yelp
I had a good time and the environment was cute. The waitress was fantastic and very attentive, I appreciated the frequent check ins and drink refills. But the food just didn't do it for me. I spent $140 on an appetizer (the soft shell crab with fries), a pound of crawfish, and the $76 meal for two platter. It was a lot of food but I didn't really enjoy the crab and lobster that much. Maybe there was too much sauce and not enough natural flavor I'm not sure. I wanna kick myself for saying I prefer the taste of Red Lobster's crab and lobster but I do. That being said, the scrimps, mussels, and andouille sausage were off the chain good. Bottom line, I don't think I'd go back unless I suddenly became rich. It was ok average seafood. Fun experience though.

Yelp
The Angry Crab is a solid choice if you are in the mood for a boil. We ordered the everything seasoning and it was pretty good aaaannnd pretty strong (read: garlic breath). Overall, this is a fun spot for a good meal.
