The Bangala

The Bangla appears to he catering to more of Non Indian guests. It is an old structure which has been expanded with new rooms and amenities. However at Rs 12,000/night for double occupancy, this small 33 room hotel pegs itself, as a premium offering. We found the place poorly managed. For its price, I would have expected much better management and services. A simple thing like getting bed tea, is a slightly complex process. Being located bang on a busy highway whithin the town, the place is noisy. Staff processes are not in place. Toiletries were extremely basic. Even basic moisturisers and conditioners are not available. On the positive side, quality of linen in the rooms was excellent. The Athamgudi tiles on the floor add to the heritage feel of the place. Multicoloured bougainvillea in full bloom, added to the cha if the place. Our 1st floor room overlooking the small pool had a nice view. The common verandah seating was nice.

A lovely property, tastefully decorated with excellent room amenities. It’s a nice getaway place for a couple of nights. Not too much to do outside so you can enjoy the property. The food was delicious, authentic Chettinad cuisine. Overall, service was excellent.

Had a wonderful experience at this authentic Karaikudi-style property. The ambiance is calm, traditional, and very pleasing. The service was excellent and made the stay comfortable. The food is a bit on the expensive side, but the taste and quality make it worth trying. Overall, a highly recommended place for anyone looking for a cultural and relaxing stay.

A Landmark Celebration at The Bangala To celebrate my 60th birthday, I hosted 23 close friends at The Bangala, reserving 13 rooms. From my initial request, the staff was extraordinarily helpful and accommodating. They truly made the occasion special, granting us exclusive use of a private block adjacent to the pool for maximum privacy. For dinner, they set up a separate area away from the main hall, offering us perfect exclusivity. Every guest thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The delicious food, the impeccable cleanliness of the rooms, and the outstanding service were frequently praised. A special commendation must go to Lakshmi and Arul Selvan; their service was truly exceptional.

It was an amazing experience for us at the Bangala. We stayed here for 2 days in a garden facing room that was spacious, comfortable, extremely clean and well designed. Ditto for the outdoor space and the swimming pool. The food is outstanding. Must try their lunch spread (warning: you'll probably need to skip dinner post this elaborate, sumptuous meal). The highlight of the stay was the exceptional service, extremely accommodative of the requirements of our 3 year old. Kudos to the staff of the Bangala for making our experience a memorable one. Highly recommend!

Delicious food. We booked for lunch. Non veg as well as veg food, excellent Chettinad cuisine. Rasam, Kar korum, tayir all were delicious. Pepper chicken just hit the spot. The dessert was unique and out of the world delicious.

Rooted and yet modern. One of my best stays ever. The food was next level. There’s a library too with a great collection of books along with the chettinad heritage ones. You can also visit the owners old mansion called MSMM house that is 5 mins away and get a tour. One of the best maintained mansions too. The people there will want to make you feel at home. Highly recommend.

One of the rarest and bautiful experience at this place while visiting Chettinad, Tamilnadu through Anubhav Travels. Huge rooms, neat n clean. Outside kitchen area, lush green garden with nice sitting arrangements. Kitchen staff was well dressed on white shirt and white lungis. Very courteous. Morning breakfast consisted idli, dosa sambhar, water melon juice, papayas, coffee/tea, omlette, rasam,curd etc. Lunch and dinner was served with plenty of choices including veg/non veg. on banana leaves. Pickles, sweets, rice/parathas, dal, papads, two types of vegetables, variety of chatanis etc.etc. We were their for three days n nights. We enjoyed food very much. The Bangala is four hours journey from Madurai Kamaraj airport. During our stay, we visited Chettiar mansions, temples representing our Hindu Culture.
