50 Best Restaurants in India, From Kasauli to Kolkata | Condé Nast Traveler

"At The Bangala in the heart of Chettinad, meals are communal, historic, and rooted in Telegu-Chettiar technique: hand-pounded masalas, Uppu kari and British-era croquettes, and immersive three- to seven-day cooking courses that unpack spice logic and temple offerings to show the cuisine’s subtlety beyond flat 'spicy Chettinad' stereotypes." - Karina Acharya

How a Hotel in India Became the Ultimate Destination for Crab Rasam | Eater

"Guests are invited to a homestyle Chettinad dining experience prepared by longtime chefs Pandian and Kasi, who have been cooking regional Tamil dishes in Karaikudi for over 30 years under the ownership and family operation of 89-year-old matriarch Meenakshi Meyyappan. The kitchen highlights family recipes rooted in the Chettiar merchant tradition, with culinary influences from Burma, Malaysia, Singapore and Sri Lanka, and serves richly spiced, traditional fare. A standout is the crab rasam: whole crab legs mashed and combined with ground aromatics (black pepper, cumin, coriander, garlic, shallots, red and green chiles), turmeric, tomato purée and curry leaves; chefs say a tumbler of this soup has potent, restorative effects for body aches and colds by the next morning." - Terri Ciccone

A Landmark Celebration at The Bangala To celebrate my 60th birthday, I hosted 23 close friends at The Bangala, reserving 13 rooms. From my initial request, the staff was extraordinarily helpful and accommodating. They truly made the occasion special, granting us exclusive use of a private block adjacent to the pool for maximum privacy. For dinner, they set up a separate area away from the main hall, offering us perfect exclusivity. Every guest thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The delicious food, the impeccable cleanliness of the rooms, and the outstanding service were frequently praised. A special commendation must go to Lakshmi and Arul Selvan; their service was truly exceptional.

It was an amazing experience for us at the Bangala. We stayed here for 2 days in a garden facing room that was spacious, comfortable, extremely clean and well designed. Ditto for the outdoor space and the swimming pool. The food is outstanding. Must try their lunch spread (warning: you'll probably need to skip dinner post this elaborate, sumptuous meal). The highlight of the stay was the exceptional service, extremely accommodative of the requirements of our 3 year old. Kudos to the staff of the Bangala for making our experience a memorable one. Highly recommend!

Rooted and yet modern. One of my best stays ever. The food was next level. There’s a library too with a great collection of books along with the chettinad heritage ones. You can also visit the owners old mansion called MSMM house that is 5 mins away and get a tour. One of the best maintained mansions too. The people there will want to make you feel at home. Highly recommend.

We hosted our friends for an extended weekend to celebrate my husband's milestone birthday and the Bangala team made it an unforgettable weekend for us. Lakshmi and her team made the reservation process so easy and even without asking gave us entire blocks of rooms and were able to accomodate all our change requests. Arul Selvan and his FB team were fantastic - they allowed us to put in our special requests and tweaked the menu for us. They also set up dinner for us separately near the pool side since we were a 20+ group. They also arranged for a cake for my husband. In short they made it an unforgettable weekend for all of us

Vintage bed n breakfast kindly of a place. The rooms were nice and big. The best part is their food. You need to book ahead as it is ala carte and like a 7 course meal.
