"The latest New York restaurant from the chef and humanitarian, tends to foreground spectacle over satiety. It feels wrong to call the Bazaar a chain restaurant, but it’s not not a chain. The New York location is Andrés’s sixth establishment under the name; each one is thematically distinct but recognizably part of the brand..." - Helen Rosner

"Dry ice, blowtorches, no income tax—all gimmicks that work well in Vegas and Miami, but aren’t really New York’s style. But The Bazaar, a restaurant with locations in Vegas, and elsewhere, attempts to pull some of these tricks in NYC too. This upscale José Andrés spot has a different menu in every city, and the Noho edition does Spanish food made using Japanese techniques. It isn’t quite fusion, but flavor-wise, it actually works. Unfortunately, everything else about it is pretty annoying.  Located at the Ritz-Carlton, The Bazaar tries its best, with art deco chandeliers and paintings of 17th century sailors, not to feel like a hotel restaurant. It feels like one anyway. (We think it’s the hotel lobby-style chairs). The official dress code is “sophisticated and chic,” but if you, like us, think wearing a button-down to eat a piece of toro wrapped in cotton candy is preposterous, you can show up in a T-shirt, and you’ll still get seated. The menu consists mostly of two-bite creations, like miniature tuna empanadas, and molecular olives. The portions are laughably tiny, and despite all the super luxe ingredients, this makes the restaurant feel like a parody of itself. That said, the little food you do get generally tastes good, and we’re not too grumpy to enjoy some wagyu seared on an ishiyaki stone tableside by a man in a nice suit.  We’re used to shelling out for wagyu. One small piece of toro on a stick for $18, or a few bites of potatoes pau gasol priced at $46—thanks to the addition of caviar—not so much. If you’re staying at the Ritz-Carlton and feeling homesick for a city with a higher tolerance for foodie magic shows, you could give this place a whirl. The rest of us are still paying that New York City income tax." - Neha Talreja

Overall a good meal. There are some rather peculiar issues though. For 3 of us, we ordered their tasting menu, and the portions that they served some of the dishes we found a bit strange.. For example, the Wagyu beef course was served as 2 large slices... We understand it's done by weight, but they could have probably helped us slice the beef into smaller pieces so it would have been earlier for us to share.. The fish ceviche had 5 slices of fish. Again, this was for 3 of us. Some dishes were also overly salty for my taste, but since the portions were small, it was fine.. Otherwise, the waiters were lovely and the atmosphere and seating was comfortable. So even a 3 hour dinner went by pretty quickly.

Here’s the English translation of your review: Today, I visited this place, and the service was absolutely terrible. I wasn’t offered water or anything similar. The staff gave me judgmental looks, which made me feel very uncomfortable. This place makes you feel abandoned, as if money is all that matters, even though the restaurant isn’t the most expensive. It’s located in the heart of New York City, and I simply don’t understand why the staff can behave so poorly toward guests. I wish this place would change because the atmosphere leaves much to be desired. The people serving you—whether at the bar making cocktails or elsewhere—seem to forget their roles. It’s like they’ve forgotten how to smile. I visited this place on Christmas, hoping to experience some holiday spirit, but unfortunately, my mood was completely ruined. While sitting at my table with friends, trying to take photos and have fun, I constantly felt uncomfortable under their judgmental stares. They kept walking around, making it hard to enjoy the setting, even though the place itself is quite beautiful. We were seated right at the entrance, with the staff claiming there were no other tables available. However, when we walked upstairs and around the first floor, we saw plenty of empty spots. I have no idea why we weren’t seated at a better table, as we were polite to the staff. The service was simply horrible. I never want to come back here again and never want to feel as awful as I did today. Let me know if you’d like to adjust or add anything.

Had the tasting experience, everything was delightful for exeption of the pork, which was burnt and had a bitter taste due to it. We did mention it to the waiter, and he ignored it. Other than that, the service and the atmosphere wonderful

Google
It's beautiful, extremely well thought out with attention to every detail. Service is unparalleled. But where each of the dishes seemed complex and made me really think about the flavors and textures, none made me glad I ordered them. After every bite both my partner and I said 'huh' never 'wow!' Or 'Yum!' Maybe that's the point.

Wow, what an experience! From the moment you step foot in the space, you know you’re about to experience something special. The decor-absolutely stunning. So many details to be appreciated, from the feathered light fixtures, to the artwork, to the tiled floors - there is beauty in every direction. Mind you, this is before you get your first drink or bite… My friend and I did the tasting menu, which is always my favorite way to experience a restaurant. When I tell you every dish was phenomenal… EVERY👏🏽 DISH👏🏽 WAS👏🏽 PHENOMENAL👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽. Presentation was top notch, flavors were out of this world. My friend can be a bit of a picky eater, but she loved every single thing brought to the table. My favorites would be the wagyu air bread (that manchego cheese espuma is to die for) and the bluefin tuna and fried egg. I cannot recommend this place enough. TREAT YOURSELF AND GOOOO.

Divine is the only word that comes to mind! Hands down, the best meal I’ve ever had in New York. Chef Viktor Rivera is a true artist. The carefully crafted mix of textures, spices and temperatures of the food was remarkable. Every bite was an explosion of flavour. Everything was presented in the most beautiful way. The service was excellent: everyone was kind and extremely knowledgeable about the ingredients, preparation and consumption. The interior design was very charming, somewhat reminding me of the Great Gatsby. It certainly is a love-letter to Japan.

Everything was great! The wine to the attention of detail. Our server was also very professional and exceptional. Very attentive service and the food was a great taste of spanish cuisine! We got several tapas, can’t wait to come back!! Definitely try the carpaccio it was my favorite!!

@bazaarbyjose was a rare, and exceptional dining experience. Their 13 course tasting menu was fit for a king. From the lox w/ caviar to the aged steak w/ black truffles, everything was A1. If you’re in Vegas and looking for a signature meal, this is the place. Fit for a king!

Yelp
Came here for a Christmas Eve 12 course dinner. What an experience. We were blown away by the creativity of each dish. Since it was a special menu I won't go into details of each, as these are not on the regular menu. Suffice to say that I'm confident any menu item will be exquisite. Service is also exceptional. A true fine dining experience. For drinks, I particularly liked the Surfer Rob Roy.

Yelp
We dined here on a weeknight, eager to explore their highly creative menu. The dishes certainly delivered on presentation and textural intrigue, but the overall experience was a mixed bag when it came to flavor balance. Here's what we tried: Cotton Candy Foie Gras: A whimsical dish with cotton candy wrapped around foie gras and matcha dust on top. While the cotton candy provided a fun texture, it dominated with its sweetness, leaving the foie gras to shine only after it melted away. The components felt more like a sequence of flavors than a cohesive bite, which was slightly disappointing. Uni Cone: The first bite, topped with uni, was rich and had an intriguing blend of flavors - absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, the cone was largely filled with an overwhelming Yuzu Kosho mayo that, without the uni to cut through it, became too strong to enjoy the rest of the cone. If I had taken it in one bite I'm also sure the Yuzu Kosho mayo would have overwhelmed. Wagyu Air Bread: This dish showcased incredible textural contrast, with thin, crisp bread filled with light and gooey manchego cheese and topped with Wagyu. However, the cheese completely overpowered the delicate flavor of the Wagyu, which was unfortunate given the potential of this pairing. Potatoes Pau Gasol: The potato itself was excellent in both flavor and texture. That said, the dish was so salty - due to the cured egg and caviar - that I had to scrape off the toppings to enjoy it. The labne was barely noticeable amidst the heavy seasoning. Black Cod with Tomato Miso and Black Bean Rub: The fish was beautifully tender and buttery, and the individual elements of the dish were well-executed. However, when combined, the flavors didn't harmonize as much as I hoped. This was the most balanced dish of the night. Honey-Miso Eggplant: Really enjoyed the textures here as well, with incredibly tender eggplant paired with crunchy pine nuts and rice pearls. The miso was far too heavy-handed, though. I ended up scraping it off and reconstructing each bite to get the right balance. Soba-cha sorbet: very light flavor with was what I was hoping for after all the over-seasoned dishes. It did feel like the bare minimum though and nothing too special. The texture was a bit chunky at times which was disappointing. Final Thoughts: The restaurant deserves 5 stars for creativity in textures and presentation. It was clear they put thought into creating visually stunning and multi-dimensional dishes. However, the seasoning was so aggressive across multiple dishes that it detracted from the dining experience. My palate leans lighter, but even with that in mind, I've rarely encountered high-end dishes where over-seasoning was so pervasive. A bit more restraint would have allowed the excellent ingredients to shine through.

Yelp
Perfect experience. Order Jose's Creative Experience tasting menu with beverage pairing and you won't regret it. We've enjoyed some well-regarded meals this year including Central & Maido in Lima. Bazaar was more enjoyable in terms of food and service. The tasting menu featured so many memorable dishes with notable standouts including the wagyu air bread, bluefin tuna & fried egg, wild black cod, A5 miyazaki, honey-miso eggplant, and pineapple kakigori. What really made the experience for us, however, was the service. Sometimes the staff is so personable you just feel like you know them. It doesn't happen often, but the Bazaar team achieved that. We happened to meet the beverage director in the elevator and he kicked the experience into action as we connected on long-ago Jose Andres tasting menu memories. He later hung out with us during the meal and shared fun stories about Jose. Our server & sommelier were personable, knowledgable, and made some creative adjustments for us. The manager Cristina really brought everything together and made us feel like part of the family. We walked away feeling uplifted and will definitely stop in again next time we're in town. 100% recommend.

Yelp
I can't say enough great things about this restaurant! Since celebrating a birthday and having a girls' night out a few weeks ago, I have been recommending it to everyone. The food was exceptional, and the service was exactly what you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. From the host stand to the bartenders and our waiter, everything was top-notch. The caviar was fantastic, and the steak was one of the best I've ever had. The special little touches throughout the evening to celebrate my birthday truly made this one of the best dining experiences I've had in New York City.

Yelp
pretty bar in City located in ritz carlton. Came for drinks and the place is adult, which is great. Nice vibe the drinks were good. Had a Gin Martini wife had a margaritas which good. Only drawback are the prices for drinks. Even wine was more expensive than cocktrails.

Yelp
Not likely to come here for 3 visits like I usually do before leave a review so writing one after 1st visit. In rare occurrence for me I also am giving a place 5 stars after one visit. As usually will Go down to 4 for 5 star place and up a 1 star for 2 star or 1 star place.. Place is on second floor of the new Ritz Carlton nomad. The place is Japanese Spanish though place does not give off vibes of either in obvious ways from the decor. Did find the big pillows on the seats a bit annoying but luckily had extra seat to put them in. The wine list is all Spanish so if your go to variety is not there need to figure it out. For a Chardonnay drinker had a nice Viura from Rioja that was aged in oak. Wine markup was 3 times as paid 120 for what wine spectator claimed was 42 dollar bottle. The margarita was overly sweet and tasted like was premade which was one of few bad marks I give this place. Had there g&t which was much better and they added cucumber upon request. The sommelier recommended red by glass got approval from a wine loving friend though she claimed was over priced for the quality. Food as mentioned is mix of Japanese and Spanish and menu is blend of tapas and omakase. There are some larger items but most are small. My Partner and I split 5 items starting out with the tacos, getting 2 salads(cucumber and peach) along with two entrees( cod and strip loin). Between those and three desserts we had as got an extra dessert due to birthday the only qualm I had was the pepper sauce on the strip covered up the taste. They should serve steak with that on side to allow for customer to choose. When scraped off most of the sauce i think a salt sprinkle would be fine. Overall service was good as both waiter and wine captain were present without hovering. For anyone who likes seafood this is a good special occasion place. There are some vegetarian options beyond salads and edamame. It is not cheap as ordering that many items adds up as our bill for party of 3 was over 600 with tip and that was after 50 Dollar discount got from paying with in kind.

Yelp
I was missing Spain and decided to try The Bazaar, owned by Michelin-starred chef José Andrés. I ordered a lot so you don't have to! * JAMÓN IBÉRICO DE BELLOTA: Pretty good, with slices cut right in front of you. It's pricey and quite fatty. * JOSÉ'S TACO: You can skip this one--nothing special, just jamón ibérico, caviar, and quail egg wrapped in seaweed. * WAGYU AIR BREAD: A must-try! The bread was light and airy, and the wagyu was perfectly cooked medium-rare. * CROQUETAS DE POLLO: Another skip. It tasted more like fried dough, with barely any chicken. * SEA SCALLOP CRUDO: Really fresh, and I enjoyed the citrusy ponzu sauce that accompanied it. * JAPANESE BABY PEACHES: One of my favorites! Refreshing, with mini burrata, peaches, and arugula. * PUNTILLITAS FRITAS: Interesting, but the fried squid was a bit too salty for my taste. * BLACK COD BELLY SSAM: Flaky and fresh, though I wasn't a fan of the sauce it came with. * YAKITORI SKEWER "MAR & MONTAÑA": Just okay--the shrimp lacked flavor. * TASTE OF JAPAN WAGYU: Skippable. I'm not sure it was really wagyu, but it was cooked perfectly. The service was a bit slow and not very attentive. We spent about $600 for two people, including taxes and gratuity. The price also includes the cocktails and wine we ordered. Would I come back again? Probably not.

Yelp
Loved the food, but the drinks were not my favorite. I tried the sea urchin cone--delicious! Flavorful bite of Uni and sauce with a crispy cone to hold it all together. Just delicious! The potatoes, omg I don't know what they mash in this potato but it's so crispy on the outside and soft with flavored with spices on the inside. Along with the aioli, this was perfection. I can eat 3 potatoes worth of these. Unfortunately the drinks were not as good. Could be just not my preference, but the drinks very were light in flavor and sorry to say this-tasted almost like fruit infused water. I didn't like it and wouldn't order any cocktails from their menu again. But food wise, I want everything again!!

Leesa T.

Yelp
The restaurant is phenomenal. The decor and service is top-notch. I enjoyed the mushroom ramen presentation the most. What an interesting dish filled with flavor and warmth. Every dish was different and by far some of the best I've ever had. Hands down, it's one of the best culinary experiences of 2024. Bravo to the team at The Bazaar for making this experience such a memorable one. Thank you.

Rainey C.

Yelp
Food was great, portions are a bit small but expected from a nice high-end restaurant. We were all so impressed and wow'ed at the interior decor. Every wall seemed to have a meaningful piece of art and it was just beautiful inside. My favorite dishes were the Patatas Bravas and Croquetas De Pollo. The Paella is very interesting, they use short noodles instead of the traditional rice. We felt the servers were not very attentive towards us, and they took forever to come by our table. They acknowledged this themselves even (slow service), and gave us some appetizers on the house which we appreciated. We came for a birthday and unfortunately they don't do anything special for birthdays. They said if you order a dessert, then they'll write "happy birthday" on it but that's it. Overall a decent experience

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had a reservation and were sat within 10min although we asked to move to a different seat as we were placed in an awkward corner spot. The host told us to just stay there and she'd come right back...she never did we waited 10minutes and she completely forgot. We then got up and another host saw us and asked if we needed something to which we then told him a new table and he immediately took care of us. Once we sat down we knew exactly what we wanted and got the below: Caviar cone: 9/10 very yummy starter nothing spectacular but very good flavor and crunch Steak tartare: 10/10 as the server comes table side and makes the dish on the spot also asks how much spice you would like. Was fresh awesome flavor especially with the tempura perilla leaves ! Croquetas: 7/10 these were ok they were fine but compared to everything else weren't really worth it. Crunchy warm and very rich. would've much rather got another tartare or other dish Red mullet: 8/10 good flavor very fresh and well balanced Eggplant: 10/10 this was an unforeseen favorite! Such unique flavor and VERY tasty. Short ribs: 10/10 would come back just for this dish was so yummy and tender. with the peppers and the sauce truly was one of my favorites highly recommend Cocktails- 10/10 refreshing well balanced not overly strong Dessert: 6/10 (no picture) we got the ice shaved dessert was honestly just okay. we felt the dessert fell short unfortunately

Yelp
First, we miss the Bazaar in L.A. from where it had disappeared. Second, we originally had identified the Nubeluz as our destination but could not get in. Third, we therefore took a spot at the Bazaar bar (within the Ritz) and enjoyed the typical very rich and stylish ambiance while sipping on our delicious cocktails. Fourth, since we already had a great dinner at Loi Estiatorio, we were not interested in a real meal anymore. But fifth, since I asked to see the restaurant (reminiscing the lush interior of the L.A. restaurant), the manager was kind enough to give us a personal tour greatly appreciated! And sixth: yes, I marked it for a future visit in NYC!!

Beatrice P.

Yelp
We went for Valentine's Day dinner however opted for one of their classic tasting menus as opposed to the Valentine's Day special menu. Ambiance- This restaurant is dim and romantic. Not too noisy compared to the typical Manhattan restaurant. The open concept kitchen adds a nice touch, I enjoyed glancing over from time to time. Food- Not sure where to even begin, this was one of my favorite meals I have ever had. All the dishes were incredibly unique with an interesting blend of flavors. A few stand outs were the cotton candy which had fois gras - sounds like a strange combo but the sweet cotton candy with a light fluffy texture added to the richness of the fois gras. The eggplant dish was almost creamy with added crunch on top to balance it out. If you are a fan of olives the olives two ways is a must try. There really wasn't a single dish I didn't enjoy! The beautiful presentation only enhanced the experience. Service - All the staff was very welcoming and our waiter was great. Each dish was served by someone different and we always got an explanation about the dish which was nice. Tip- make a reservation for after dinner at the rooftop bar called Nubeluz- the view is unreal and there are some unique cocktails as well. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
My best friend and I dropped by the bar on a Friday evening after work and couldn't have been more delighted. We were quickly seated at the bar and greeted by the bartender with menus. The decor of the bar is stunning and there is definitely a drink for everyone's palate. I ended up getting two of their gin and tonic drinks and my friend ordered the espresso martini. We were in and out in about 30 minutes and will absolutely return.

Ryan R.

Yelp
I came here for a friend's birthday a little bit ago and we were all blown away by the caliber of showmanship, ambiance and service. But the food!! It was SO delicious!! We ordered it all family style so that we could try as many dishes as possible and we weren't disappointed. Though one friend was vegan, so she missed out on some amazing dishes. I think my favorite dishes were the steak tartare and the croquettes. I liked the land & sea taco a lot, but it was just so little that I didn't get to savor it long enough. I will definitely try more of Jose Andres places when I'm out in the world. I loved all the creative flair!

Jeff G.

Yelp
I have always loved Jose Andres. I was so excited to see a bazaar open in NYC but this wasn't like other bazaars. This restaurant screams the need for a tasting menu. The actual menu is too large and it is hard to have a thoughtful, progressive meal here. Our waitress tried to help guide us but there were too many misses. Each dish was small and overly expensive for what it was. Some items were very good but others were complete misses.

Shanna L.

Yelp
Truly an experience. I went with friends on a whim on Saturday. It was not hard to get reservations. The vibe is sexy. It is located on the second floor of the Ritz so the vibe is polished and sexy. The staff was attentive. The water glasses remained filled. Plates were cleared quickly. The food was exceptional! The flavors were incredible. It truly is a culinary treat. My only issue, was the portions were small for the price. We ended up ordering a bunch of dishes and sharing. Expect to drop big money if you are hungry. The flavors were out of this world and the attention to detail was exceptional. The bluefin tuna with quail eggs was mind blowing. I could eat this everyday! The MAINE LOBSTER ENSALADILLA potato salad, pickled piparra peppers, hard boiled egg was another mind blowing dish. It was delicate, sweet, salty and tasted like a dream The CRUSHED CUCUMBER SALAD Persian cucumber, togarashi-yuzu dressing, kombu was a great addition and was filling. The PATATAS BRAVAS fried pressed potatoes, togarashi "brava", kewpie mayo was crispy and plentiful. The mayo was tasty. The WILD BLACK COD tomato miso froth, fermented black bean rub Was delicate fresh and delicious. We also Got the beef tarte which I had a bite but my friend said it was mind blowing! It was such a wonderful experience and I can't wait to go back and do it again. It is perfect for celebrating a special occasion or just wanting a wonderful night on the own!

Yelp
I rarely give 5 stars but this exceeded my expectations! I've been a som in NY in my early days and a foodie for life and knew Jose Andres in DC. I also had a never-met-bucket list of going to El Bulli That said I feel as if we received something akin to that gastronomic experience at the Bazaar. Decor is very lovely, opulent in style but not over the top - in red black and gold. Seating is comfortable and pretty. Service totally impeccable. I overheard a cute, very young man who was a runner training a new employee and explaining how to say different items . Informed, explained dishes, not pushy. The wine director noticed we were ordering more "out of the ordinary" drinks - Sherry to start, not easy to come by Portuguese white - and she came over to inquire about us bringing a wine to share with our next course. Wines - Spanish, Portuguese, Sherry list, and Sake! Heaven for me Food - I mean there was nothing that wasn't a well executed flavor bomb! My favorite was the waygu air bread which oozed manchego foam when you bit into it! Mmmm Also loved the flan. We had Ferran Adria olives - super cool nod Croquettas - delish Steak tartare - non tradition but good Neptune's pillow - described as "like a tuna cannoli" pretty spot on Maine lobster potato salad Scallops Oooh the yogurt dip with root veg chips. I want to bottle that. There was a touch of wasabi that gave no spice just depth and sesame - loved it! Olive oil ice cream. This is a high end experience but worth it! When my wallet can handle it I'll be back again. My husband is jealous and when we are back I hope we can come again!

Yelp
The ambiance is what you would expect inside a Ritz Carlton Hotel. Our table of six was situated at the window. I was allowed to bring in a special bottle of wine, corkage fee $85.00. The food was very good, some dishes exceptional others held the line on Spanish tradition with a flare! The Iberico in both chop snd dried forms were exquisite. The Japanese mini peaches were a delight. The Wagu was flavorful and cooked perfect. We ordered way to much food for 6 people and everyone left stuffed! The Wine Steward was excellent and has great knowledge of the Spanush wine list.

Sharon J.

Yelp
Came here for drinks! Amazing service and ambiance, as expected since it is in the lobby of the Ritz Carlton. Felt super taken care of by the staff. Honestly, the complimentary nuts with everything bagel seasoning were my favorite part. The drinks were good but nothing stood out to me in particular. If I had to choose, the milk punch was probably my favorite.

Shalini V.

Yelp
This was great, especially if you are a meat eater. Upscale dining experience, really attentive staff, amazing drinks and they go above and beyond to work with you. Their air puffs are amazing and jamon slices as well. Really worth a visit!

Kathy L.

Yelp
Jose Andres Bazaar NY - some dishes were great, others just ok. Expected to be wowed after loving his Vegas restaurants. If you stick with certain dishes (uni cone, beef tartare, tuna on bread, wagyu air bread, soccarat, short rib you wont be disappointed) but many of the items are charged per piece so it is very expensive. The cotton candy toro was overhyped and the wagyu and steamed buns were underwhelming (I didnt take pics of either). Also the server had no idea what sea urchin. He kept saying the shima aji in the soccarat had sea urchin which I knew was not true but he insisted and they were over eager in taking away my unfinished cocktails

Nate S.

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant! We came here for our anniversary, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Great ambience, wonderful staff, delicious and fun food! My favorite thing about Bazaar is that it's different. The food is a mix of latin and japanese fusion, and it 100% works! Most high-end restaurants in Manhattan, it's the same thing over and over again, even if the food is amazing, it's kinda boring. Bazaar hits that rare sweet spot where the food is both exciting and delicious! We got a little bit of everything, so let's break it down: Jose's Taco - 5/5 - What a fun little bite! Nori, jambon imberico, caviar, and quail egg. Different, yet delicious! Definitely a must have! Cotton Candy Foie Gras - 4/5 - Fun and tasty, but I felt like it needed a carb in there to absorb some of that richness from the foie. Not my favorite, but I'm also not the biggest foie gras guy in general, and I still enjoyed it. Wagyu Air Bread - 5/5 - This was an unexpected delight. Wagyu on a hollow bread, filled with manchego crema, yum! I did think there was a touch too much manchego crema in the bread, overpowering the wagyu a bit, but still, definitely a must have! Bluefin Tuna & Fried Egg - 5/5 - Another delicious bite! Great umami with the little shredded nori! Super fresh tuna! Definitely can't go wrong with this one! Croquetas De Pollo - 4.5/5 - These croquettes were great, the consistency of the filling was different than expected. Usually you get like a potato-y filling, but this was more moist and meaty, like the filling you get in a chicken enchilada. I do wish they'd do it with jambon iberico instead of chicken, but it was very good. Tuna Empanadilla - 4/5 - These little tuna gyoza were good, but the dough was just a bit too thick for tuna. Tuna has a delicate flavor, so if you stuff it in a mini empanada, you're mainly just going to taste empanada. Still tasty, but a bit of a miss. Seared Scallops - 3.5/5 - These felt a bit basic to me. It wasn't bad, but compared to everything else, it was just ok. Wouldn't order this one again. Definitely coming back to The Bazaar! Can't wait to try the rest of the menu!

Yelp
This was our first visit to this newly opened finer dining establishment. Finer dining is something that is getting harder and harder to find so this was truly a delight to experience. The ambiance is warm, colorful & romantic with plush seating and decoration in both Mediterranean & Asian styles. The food as well is a mash up of Spanish & Japanese flavors. As this is a Jose Andres establishment some dishes even resemble ones from his Jaleo (in DC) menu we have had. The service is formal, well polished and very accommodating and friendly. Overall this was a true delight of an experience!

Yelp
Wow this experience was incredible from the gorgeous ambiance downstairs at the lobby to walking into the restaurant. Food was 10/10! It is a fine dining which does mean it is pricey and you're only getting one per order. There is a pre fix menu but we wanted to do our own picks. Waiter suggested 4-5 dishes per person. At first we thought we definitely eating somewhere after here but surprisingly we were all very full after the dishes. Perfect for a date night. It's a place you want to impress someone. I also believe it's great for those who appreciates the thought and talent of a chefs work. So might not be for everyone.

Yelp
Phenomenal! This has become one of my favorite splurge meals in NYC! My date and I visited The Bazaar on a Saturday night, and were very impressed with the food and the excellent service. The restaurant is located within the Ritz-Carlton New York in Nomad on the second floor, and serves Spanish-Japanese fare. Upon entering the hotel, there is a short walk to the bar, where the hostess will check you in for your reservation, and then ask you to proceed up the stairs to another set of doors before entering the restaurant itself. At first glance upon entering the restaurant, the interior decor is very modern, and the dimness gives the restaurant a very intimate vibe - perfect for a date night or girls' night out. The dishes on the menu are generally small portions, so a few dishes for each person would be sufficient; this time, we opted for the Classic Tasting Menu, which consisted of 11 small dishes and 1 dessert. The dishes come out one or two at a time and at an appropriate speed, and are introduced individually by the server with instructions on how to enjoy the dish (and in how many bites, if applicable). After the first course was served, I was skeptical about whether I'd get full, but by the end of the meal, my hunger was more than satiated. My favorite dishes included Jose's tacos, sea scallop crudo, kombu cured tomato salad, baby Japanese peaches, grilled edamame, and the Pluma Ibérica de Bellota. The high-quality ingredients, attention to detail (the grape tomatoes were hand peeled, one by one, and without a single piece of tomato skin to be found!) and the presentation of each dish were outstanding - not to mention the deliciousness of the balanced flavors that work so perfectly in each dish! The head chef even stopped by our table to ask about our experience on this recent visit, and kindly offered us wagyu air bread as a gift from the kitchen! The gesture was thoughtful and very much appreciated! Thank you, Victor! From the moment we were sat by the hostess until our departure from the restaurant, I could not have asked for a more fantastic experience! The Bazaar by Jose Andrés definitely holds a special place in my stomach, and I can always count on a memorable dining experience each time I visit! Looking forward to my visit next month already!

Yelp
Superb service , amazing ambiance, crispy rosé what else can you ask? Great place to lounge around to start your evening n go bar hopping or to dinner. There's the lounge downstairs, restaurant upstairs. Located inside the Ritz! You know it's going to be fancy. So don't leave home without your Amex!

Yelp
The wagyu air bread was amazing, definitely my favorite bite of the night. I also really liked the squid po boy and the tomato salad. I ordered a mocktail and while it was tasty I do have to say that $19 is an outrageous price to charge for a drink with no alcohol.

Yelp
Our buzzy restaurant seeking friend made a reservation for this sumptuous restaurant. It's on the second floor of a hotel lobby. The host led us through a happening bar and up a flight of stairs to the beautiful dining room. There was plenty of room between tables. Every single staff member who we interacted with was lovely. The sommelier was terrific- we had a long chat with her. Cocktails were very good. We sampled a fair amount of the menu. This is fine dining. The small bites were especially impressive. The cotton candy foie gras and bluefin tuna and fried egg stood out as with sophisticated flavors that changed as you chewed. Very impressive. The caviar cones were very good. We also enjoyed Jose's Tacos, The croquetas and the patatas bravas. The cod and the Rossejat Negra were excellent. The oysters and beans were also very good. We split an order of mochi for dessert. Why only 4 stars? I'm not sure about the value proposition. Our dinner came to $215 per person, including tip. Not to sound like a glutton, but we could have shared another entree. There were two tasting menus listed, one for $135 and and the other for $195. In retrospect, that may have been the way to go. I am really glad that I spent a nice evening at the Bazaar- the atmosphere, food and service were all top notch. I'm not sure that I like it twice as much as my other favorite restaurants. If you're curious, have a trust fund or want a splurge meal, it's definitely worth checking out. If you're price sensitive, not so much.

Yelp
Simply outstanding. First off, the staff were impeccable and both personable and professional. There's just the right amount of time between courses, which are all tapas dishes. The food was creative and sublime. This is a great place to share dishes and everything was fresh and delicious. My bestie and I in spectacular NYC enjoyed the Wagyu Air Bread, Neptune's Pillow and Serrano ham dishes the best. We also loved the kabocha squash, scallops and eggplant, plus the croquetas and patatas bravas were outstanding. Because it was a birthday treat, the restaurant treated us to two lovely desserts. This is a really special place and the warm and comfy ambiance is special, too. I can't say enough good things about The Bazaar, except you should go! I can't wait to return!

Yelp
A classy evening with ladies I went to The Bazaar with 7 girlfriends, and we shared a bottle of prosecco. Since we arrived around 11:30 p.m. after dinner, we were looking for a comfortable space to chat before going home. The ambiance was calm and classy. The Bazaar was the right spot! The kitchen closes early.

Yelp
The Bazaar is a new restaurant by Jose Andres in the Ritz Carlton on West 28th Street. The Bazaar is an outstanding restaurant on all levels. Food and service are excellent. The cocktails are unique and innovative. The wine list is predominantly Spanish and Portuguese with a limited number of French (mostly Burgundies with a couple of Bordeaux) wines. The room is beautiful as well, although the ambiance in the downstairs bar area actually has a better vibe. If there was any doubt that The Bazaar is the place to be dining, Eric Ripert was eating at the next table to us. Great experience on all levels.

Yelp
Food - there's a reason the restaurant is empty at 8pm on a Thursday. Ambiance - eating alone in a cold restaurant Service - high school waiters

Yelp
Avoid if you are foreign!!! Small lady CHASED after us outside of the restaurant, stopped us from getting on the elevator and harassed us that the tip was not enough for here in America. That we had to come back in and give them more money. I've never seen anything like it. Pretty scary scene, people around us were SHOCKED someone came after us outside the restaurant. Multiple people in elevator after said yeah we will never be coming back that is unbelievable.

Yelp
Improbably and impressively, Jose Andres has remained in the good graces of fine-dining tastemakers while presiding over an ever-expanding restaurant realm with imperial ambitions rivaling those of industry behemoths Darden and Landry's. The enduring prestige among the dining cognoscenti is undeniably a testament to the chef being a generational talent and innovator. It also doesn't hurt that Andres is a superhumanitarian, and it's important that Jose Andres Group is extremely diversified; the company's enormous footprint is split into almost 20 brands, and some of them, including the Bazaar, have only a handful of locations. But quantity with quality is always a delicate balancing act, and every time one of the marquee brands gets a bit bigger, the whole dynamic becomes even more precarious. Andres' expansion of the Bazaar -- now with six locations, including this one -- seems especially fraught; its over-the-top extravagance, if executed clumsily, could start to seem like an obvious cash grab. Happily, however, this outpost of the Bazaar delivers a dining experience full of skillful cooking, a stylish ambiance and ample originality. My personal experience had some hiccups, but I'd wager that most guests will enjoy themselves. The Ritz-Carlton setting is an opulent oasis on a Garment District block that's noisy and shabby and a good reminder that the Manhattan of yesteryear (thankfully) still exists. The restaurant's entrance adjoins the hotel lobby, and the vibe is busy but also surprisingly laid back. At the same time, the Bazaar's decor -- both in its ground-level bar and second-level main restaurant -- exudes contemporary elegance that encourages adherence to the dress code. (The "sophisticated and chic" code is described in detail on the restaurant's website, but during our visit, they nonetheless seated guys in t-shirts.) At your table, the menu starts with an extraordinarily expensive section of glorified amuse bouches, such as sea urchin cones and tuna belly cocooned in cotton candy. Most of that section can be skipped, although the octet of olives -- four molecular, four traditional -- is a must-order. The rest of the menu also abounds with pricey and dainty dishes, but you can find some legitimately filling and thrilling dishes here and there. Two standouts in that regard are the socarrat (a paella-rice pancake folded over buttery shima aji) and the tuna empanadillas (four jumbo gyoza fried golden brown on one side, steamed on the other, and plated beautifully). Each of those dishes exemplifies the restaurant's Spanish-Japanese theme -- a theme that stays remarkably consistent throughout the menu and extends to the drinks, where you'll find cocktails that combine sake with sherry, shochu with amaro montenegro, etc. The theme is also unique to this Bazaar, making the chain-restaurant backdrop easier to forget. That's not to say this Bazaar should be entirely sui generis -- it would benefit from letting down its hair and delivering excitement like the OG Bazaar in Los Angeles (a dinner at the L.A. location back in 2010 remains one of my all-time most memorable meals anywhere). Service also needs a little work. It's very attentive and professional, but lead servers should be able to clarify the menu's often-vague descriptions, or at least offer to find an answer. Also, when the restaurant prompts you at the time of reservation to install a payment app (InKind) and offers a $50 credit toward your meal, but then can't actually process your payment via that app, it should still apply the credit. A manager's decision not to do so after our meal -- despite the obvious bait-and-switch implications, and despite the whole situation being a big hassle that required emails to recoup $500 in preloaded InKind funds -- was a significant mistake. That mistake left a bad taste in my mouth that'll probably prevent me from returning, simply as a matter of principle. But the rest of the experience was what we've come to expect from Jose Andres, and confirmation that he still, somehow, hasn't spread himself too thin.

Yelp
Would give The Bazaar a solid 4.5 stars (rounding up to a 5 star). We absolutely loved the food - everything was delicious. There was several dishes that were a true 10/10: the caviar cone, the wagyu air bread, and the desserts. Service was fantastic, and our server was so kind and helpful. She gave the best recs. We also loved the vibes and atmosphere - it's a gorgeous restaurant. Only thing keeping it from being a true 5 star was the price. It was a little pricy. But the food was amazing, and we will definitely be back!

Yelp
My first time at the bazaar was an awesome experience with amazing food and well warming staff since I arrived I've got a warming welcome from the hottest, the lounge bar was amazing design as well as the dining place located in the second floor, my server was Nicolas who gave me amazing recommendations for the food and cocktails he was espectacular, heads up for their manager Cristina who also is there not only to support the team as well as provide you a great dining experience. Yelp
Beautiful restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Ritz - Nomad. Open kitchen concept. I had very high expectations. Unfortunately, the dining experience as a whole was disappointing. To start, for a party of 4, it was a 4 hour dining experience. We did order the Bazaar tasting menu with a few add ons, but even then the service was incredibly slow. There were multiple stretches of 30 minute time periods where we did not receive any food. Very inconsistent. To the food - some of the bites were stunning and delicious (tacos, cones, black cod to name a few). Some of the bites were just average and lacked flavor. For the price and fanfare, I expected more.

Yelp
The ambiance was beautiful as long as you don't get a table right on top of another table which they have a few of you will be happy. The sharp rib was by far the stand out although the cured tuna was also amazing among all the dishes of which we had about 7 were all spot on both in presentation and flavor. Our sommelier was very knowledgeable and a lot of fun. We didn't like our waiter but the rest of the staff was fantastic. The only thing you have to sort of get used to is some of the dishes sell by the Gram or ounce and unless you're a drug dealer that can be a little confusing on how to order.

Yelp
Amazing food. That's a given. I ate at the Bar downstairs, which is cozy, warm and comfortable. It's more of a lounging situation as opposed to a sit down dinner. Unless you get one of the little tables in the back, which I requested via the hostess. My request was not granted, despite waiting patiently with my friend. We were seated at a lounge table at the front door (after waiting for about 20 minutes), it was freezing and windy, the door kept opening. To add insult to injury, another party was seated at the table I requested right after we were dumped at what I would describe as the worst table at the bar. I considered leaving, but decided to stay, because I REALLY wanted to try José Andres' food. Which was of course outstanding. But the customer service left a bad taste in my mouth...

Yelp
What a phenomenal dining experience! From the kind welcome to the delightful menu we thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Bazaar. Having enjoyed two meals at The Bazaar in Miami Beach in April (and await its reopening next year), I spied a variations on a theme I have come to love from Chef José Andrés. (Say yes to the croquetas. No regrets!) The Cotton Candy O'Toro tasted amazing and started our meal with a bit of fun. José's Land Taco prepared table side took us to another level of taste. Any time the Chef has gazpacho available, I'm in. Again, this treat provided joy! The sherry vinegar offered an amazing backdrop to the pipirrana, cherry tomatoes, and the air croutons (think tiny, crunchy pillows that induce cravings for more). The wagyu air bread filled the longing for more air croutons, while packed with flavor of melted manchego and onion jam. Spectacular! The Kobe eye of the rib cut grilled tableside on an Ishiyaki stone: magnificent. So much fun & started a trend! The rosemary aromatics may have something to do with that. Another diner summed it up: "Smells like happiness." Yes! The Japanese cheesecake and Mochi Valenciano completed our amazing meal. Cannot wait to return! The hospitality is spectacular (even during opening week!)

Yelp
Had dinner here last night in thier private room. We had the creative tasting menu. The foie gras with the cotton candy was nuts. The waygu air bread was a close 2. Loved the strip loin and the miso eggplant. The desert was awesome too. I had the margarita with the salt foam and they went down smooth !!! I would highly recommend !

Yelp
Second visit in as many days. Tremendous. It's a must try. Everything is simple yet complex. Give your pallet a workout. Try Bazaar

Yelp
We're fans of José Andrés having previously dined at minibar and Zaytinya. The Bazaar is a wonderful addition to the line-up of restaurants in a decadent yet comfortable setting (located above a stylish and lively bar at the Ritz Carlton Hotel). We enjoyed a variety of creative small plates with highlights including José's Land Taco, Caviar Cone, and Neptune's Pillows as well as the Wagyu Beef Hako Sushi and the Yakitori Mar & Montaña! The marinated Ferran Adriá olives were a nice homage to the Chef at El Bulli Restaurant. The inspired cocktail menu was also lovely - especially enjoyed The Bronze. Timing was a bit uneven but we simply took it as an opportunity to relax and had an enjoyable time. We definitely look forward to returning again - thank you!

Yelp
Got the creative tasting menu. The food was good but not amazing. Raw fish/meat inspirations but instead of being impressed, it felt more like trying too hard. For the price, could have gone to a few other 4/5 star places multiple times. Servers also seemed newish.

Yelp
A beautiful space with light portions. Great date spot, amazingly talented pastry team. Very elegant
