Had an outstanding dinner at this establishment. The cook & waitstaff were very nice and attentive. The atmosphere is plain and simple with no frills. The salad bar was fresh and well stocked. Our steaks were cooked as asked and seasoned just right. No need for steak sauce here!

If I could give The Beefmaster Inn ten stars, I would! My husband and I drove 3.5 hours just to try this hidden gem in Wilson, and let me just say — it was worth every single mile. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for something special. My husband ordered a 16 oz steak… though we’re both pretty sure it looked more like a 22 oz! It was massive, beautifully cut, and cooked absolutely to perfection. I ordered one as well, and our entire group agreed: these were hands-down the best steaks we’ve ever had. Perfect seasoning, perfect sear, melt-in-your-mouth tender — exactly what you hope for in a true steakhouse experience. And the service? Phenomenal. Truly some of the friendliest staff we’ve ever encountered. Our drinks were topped off when they were barely ½–1 inch down. We never had to ask for a thing. The team was attentive without being intrusive, warm without being overbearing — they made us feel genuinely welcome. The building itself may be small, but don’t let that fool you. They’ve thought of everything — a smart, comfortable layout inside and even seating and cornhole outside to keep guests entertained if there’s a wait. It’s clear that every detail has been carefully considered to create not just a meal, but an experience. I cannot praise The Beefmaster Inn enough. Incredible food, outstanding service, and an atmosphere that makes the long drive completely worth it. We’ll absolutely be back — and we’ll gladly make the 3.5-hour trip again! 🥩✨

When they bring to your table the whole piece of rib eye for you too choose how big you want your steak to be, you know right then and there that it would be a great dining experience.. Our steak was cooked to perfection, their salad bar was super. Fresh. They kept restocking the items, they bake potatoes are not dry and they garlic bread was delicious! You only need to pick how big your steak will be. There is only one menu item, so you know they have mastered the cooking time and temperature accordingly to their customer's likeness. Small place, clean and once it's full it takes about one hour and fifteen minutes to seat the next group. In the meantime people play corn hole outside, do some drinking or snacking, kinds of tailgating while they get a table. They do offer liquour and alcoholic beverages. So either you stick to water or a drink, it won't matter because their steak is so juice and tender that you'll forget anything else. Not a formal dinning place, not a romantic one but yes a family and inviting place to come. We traveled a little over an hour to try their food. We weren't disappointed. We had a great experience. The one item menu cost starts at $50.00 and from there on depending on how big you want your steak to be.

Stopped in for dinner during a business trip. Got immediately seated and started the dinner. Everything comes with your steak; drink (sweet tea), unlimited salad and a baked potato. Picked the width of my steak and ordered medium rare. Got a salad; lot of items to put in your salad. Remember that some of those items (bacon and cheese) can be put on your baked potato. Got the steak, baked potato and toasted bread. Steak seasoned and cooked perfectly. The four stars is due to the toast being burnt black. Also wish they had chopped chives or green onions at the salad bar to put on the baked potato.

Our family of five—my husband and our three kids—had dinner here, and I can honestly say it was a perfect experience from start to finish. I ate my steak without any steak sauce, which says everything. It was tender, juicy, and truly melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The salad bar was top-tier and fresh, the atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the service was outstanding. Chad, the owner, is one of the friendliest and most genuine people you’ll meet, and his staff was just as superb. We couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience and will absolutely be back.

This a hidden gem, the place does not look like much. No upscale decor or fancy tables or facilities . Just a local welcoming little place. The servers and staff are very nice and makes you feel welcomed. Their food is really fresh and cooked to your likeness. There is only one menu item, so they have prefected it, Ribeye! They bring to the table the whole piece and ask for how big you want your steak to be and the temperature you want it to be cooked. The salad bar is nothing fancy but works well for everyone. They are constantly restocking the salad bar. And it appears that everyone enjoys their meal. I got the impression that it was a favorite of many locals. They'll be in groups outside like in a tailgating event just waiting for their table. Playing corn hole or drinking in the parking lot while waiting for a table. I don't believe they have reservations, more like first come, first served. It was a nice experience having your raw steak brought to the table, see it being cooked and then eat it. Couldn't get better than that specially because you know how long your food is going to take to be brought. I would recommend this place to my friends and family, what can go wrong with steak and a bake potato?

My parents and I ate here Thursday, January 30. I have eaten here several times and I am never disappointed. From the moment we stepped in the door we were greeted and went to our table. Immediately the staff was there to take our drink order. The gentleman then came with the loin of beef to ask us what size steak we wanted and how we wanted it cooked. Then we went to the salad bar to get our salad. They had a plethora of items for your salad. It was all fresh and delicious. We finished our salad and by that time our steak, bake potato, and bread was served to us. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and a nice hot bake potato still steaming. The waiter did an impeccable job keeping beverage glasses filled the entire meal. Beefmaster you have never disappointed me. Also congrats being named by Southern Living as one of the best steak restaurants in the south! It is well deserved. I prefer this restaurant over the Angus Barn in Raleigh.

One of the best steaks I have ever had. Simple place, and that’s a huge compliment. Just solid, great food, nice little salad bar. The fancy part is the flavor of the steak and solid baked potato and. Nice grilled Texas toast. Just wonderful. Will definitely return.

Super small and cozy restaurant. The chef brings out a whole ribeye to the table so you can select what size cut of ribeye (the only steak they serve). A salad bar is well presented. The steak was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. It comes with a nice baked potato and bread. A whole stick of butter and sour cream is set on the table. Great food, experience and service.

Wonderful steak in a casual setting. If you don't enjoy a good ribeye, this isn't the place for you because this is all they serve and they serve it well. The Master comes to your table with a huge slab of meat and you tell him how big of a steak you want cooking - 8oz and up! Succulent and juicy, perfectly seasoned. Served with all you can eat salad bar, bread and a baked potato, all included. Beer and wine are extra. So worth the detour!

We arrived at 5:25 on a Sunday and got a table right away. As others have mentioned, there are only 10 tables. It was our first time here so we didn't really know what to expect. A man came to our table with steak and cut our 8 oz portions in front of us. We were told that it would start to be cooked as soon as we went to the salad bar. My friend and I hadn't seen each other in a while so we took some time to catch up. I love how we were never rushed. When we were ready, we sent to the salad bar. A whole stick of butter was put on the table which had us giggling. A little while later we got our steak, a baked potato and a slice of grilled bread. The steak was cooked perfectly. It was certainly a unique experience. At the end of the night our bill was $54 per person before tax and tip. We had water to drink. The only thing I didn't like is that there was no pricing anywhere to be found. Overall, it was delicious and a great local spot.

We drove in from about an hour away and arrived at about 5:30ish on a Thursday evening. We had a party of 9 and were seated right away. They have one thing on the menu and it's Rib Eye steak. We were greeted and our drink order was taken right away. Soon thereafter the process of ordering was explained and the gentleman came over with the Rib Eye and cut each piece to order and asked how it should be cooked. We then proceeded to the salad bar which was compact but had more of a selection than a lot of other salad bars and it was kept full and fresh. After finishing our salads the steaks followed, cooked to perfection. Service was awesome as our beverages were always kept full and we were always checked on. Definitely a great experience!

To call this place an icon is an understatement. I worked for a bank that was hq'd in Wilson back in the day. When we had holiday parties, my pretentious manager used to groan when this place was suggested. "Oh," he'd sneer, "you mean the place where you can get a ribeye, or a RIBEYE?!" Yeah that's right, it's a steakhouse, they only serve ribeye. They bring the whole ribeye to your table and you tell them how thick you want it, and it's cooked to order. Comes with a visit to a spotless salad bar & baked potato. I revisited this spot recently so my husband could experience this incredibly simple but wonderful spot, and it did not disappoint. It's been several weeks and he's still talking about how great his meal was.

There's only 10 tables and they only serve one thing, but that one thing is a prime rib-eye steak ! It is so good people tailgate in the parking lot for hours for it ! Amazing

A very, very fine meal. Great steak, cooked just the way I like it. Tasty baked potato and toast. And the salad bar? Lots of items...and theonly way to get fresher is to go out in the garden and pick it yourself. Friendly staff and attentive service. I highly recommend! A+++! We were on Wilson visiting family, and this will definitely be a go-to every time we come to town.

We arrived at 4:15 on a Saturday afternoon to find a line already waiting at the door. We took the 8th of the ten tables. My dining companion and I both came for a ribeye steak, salad, baked potato and bread, which is perfect since that comprises the entire menu, with the exception of a baked onion which you can request. Tea, coffee, or water are included. There is a modest bar and bottled soft drinks are also available for extra cost. Dinner prices start at $50 for an 8oz cut. I ordered a 10oz cut and was charged $53, so it seems like each extra ounce of steak is a $1.50 additional. Overall, I thought it was a reasonable value. My steak was cooked a perfect medium as requested and served hot off the grill. While it was not the best cut of ribeye I have eaten, it was very good, mostly tender, flavorful, and had a modest but not excessive amount of fat. Many reviewers comment that the steaks are not seasoned, but that was not the case during our visit. I watched the cook (the Beef Mastor?) season each steak with a very finely ground seasoning before it was placed on the grill. Everything on the salad bar was extremely fresh. Although there was not an extensive selection of ingredients, it was kept constantly restocked and was of good quality, except the croutons which seemed to be of the grocery-store variety. My potato was perfectly baked. The accompanying bread was buttered and toasted on the grill to order. Service was simple, polite, and very attentive. Two servers worked all ten tables and they stayed very busy during our visit. The restaurant is small and modest, but that is part of its appeal. By the time we returned to our car, the parking lot was full with tailgating going in full swing and a game of cornhole ramping up in the side lot. If you are looking for a steak house along the lines of a Ruth's Chris, Sullivan's, or Perry's, Beefmastor Inn is not it. Instead, it is a perfect example of an eastern NC restaurant that provides an excellent prix-fixe meal with simple, informal, and friendly local charm.

I think it's expensive for what you receive. 10oz Ribeye, small baked potato and an iceberg salad with bottled dressing. My bill was over $160 for two people including the tip. I was expecting a dive bar price around $25 per person.

Loved but don't get to chose your sides, it's a sals and a baked potatoe, very friendly, definitely recommend to any that his a steak lover!

There was no wait at all. It's always simplicity at its best l. You always get what you pay for and I think the chef, service, Salad Bar, potato , etc is worth any visit. It's such a great environment and fantastic dinner! Perfectly cooked Rib eye!!!!!

Only offered steak and potatoes and the steak was 55 dollars not seasoned nor trimmed offered plastic bottles for your drink and for 5 people the bill was 305 I have been all over the country and have never seen some bs like this

We had to try the famous Beefmastor Inn after reading all of the great Yelp reviews and watching a segment on ABC11. We had dinner here with our friends last week. If you arrive right when they open, you won't have to wait (at least on a Thursday). We still wanted to tailgate though, so we played a few rounds of cornhole and had some tasty adult beverages. The space is very small, and seats less than 50 people. They only serve ribeye steak and you can select the size you want (they bring a slab to your table!), a baked potato and an all you can eat salad bar. Honestly, the salad bar was my favorite. All of the salad dressings were homemade and there were lots of toppings to choose from including homemade bacon bits! Everyone I was with LOVED their steak; but I thought the steak was just ok. It was way too fatty for my taste. We had a fun time and I think everyone should eat here at least once.

When you do it right, keep doing it! These guys have been doing it right for years. I had an out of town guest come play golf this week. We were done and I asked if he wanted to grab dinner or if he had to get back home. He had time so I asked if he liked steak. He laughed. I said "Follow me." We pulled in and he said that he had heard about the place but never been. I told him "My treat." We had one of the best steak dinners ever (cooked to perfection) and certainly the best steak for miles around. Good food ain't cheap. Cheap food ain't good. I'll be back again. And again.

I like a good steak so we decided to check it out. Luckily we were seated quickly and to my immediate right was the corner where all the steaks are cooked. I noticed a small sink under the counter that said it was for the cook only to wash his hands. The amount of dust hangers on the drain pipe from that sink and the water lines heading to the sink were more than plentiful and I never saw the cook once wash his hands at that sink. Maybe there was another that he used. The steak was good. I've gotten ribeyes at other places that were much more fatty so I was pleased with the cut of meat. The salad bar was fresh and the baked potato was.....a baked potato. What blew my mind was the bill. $100 for that meal in a tiny cinder block building? I felt taken advantage of. Beefmastor? More like rip off master.

This no-menu, hole-in-the-wall hidden gem is a North Carolina staple. You truly come just for the experience. The restaurant is a very small room, not fancy (don't dress fancy), and steak is the only thing they serve. But the experience of getting in the line, getting to your table, and choosing your cut is part of the allure. When we went on a Saturday it was one big tail gate. We arrived an hour early but still had to wait another hour before we were seen. In the mean-time, people came from all over, pulled out beach chairs, coolers, beer, games, and the parking lot was one big tail gate. The second time we arrived on a Sunday, there was no tailgating (it's the Lord's day and this is the Bible Belt after all), and we knew to arrive early to get in line. Once we were in, they come up with a slab of meat and a knife, asking how big you want your steak. I got an 8oz (the smallest). It was cooked to perfection. The potato, bread, and salad with it really fills you up. I took home leftovers. If you're not into any of the things I described above, it's not going to be a five star experience for you. If you're looking for a fancy steak place to bring your date and want to dress up, try somewhere else. This is truly for the experience and the steak is great too.

Heard great things about this restaurant and wanted a great steak, we made the drive from Fuquay-Varina to Wilson. The location is easy to miss if you don't pay attention or not using GPS. We had heard about the potential wait fir seating. We arrived at 5 on Saturday night, only wanted 5 minutes. Attire, very casual. Only about 10 tables inside. Service was excellent. No menu required, I believe they only cook one main entree, RIBEYE. The chef comes to the table with the entire ribeye to ask you how big a steak you want. Excellent quality. Salad bar, very compact but super quality. I could not think of another item to put on the salad bar, great job. The Ribeye was cooked to perfection. We highly recommend and will return with friends. If you want something fancy, like Ruth Chris, please go there and leave the best steak for the rest of us! Thanks again.

Not going to make many friends with this review. If you go to Harris Teeter, buy a cut of ribeye, salad fixings and a potato, go home and cook it and sit at your kitchen table and eat it, that is what you get at Beefmastor. It's a gimmick that works. Don't know why but it does. They only serve ribeye, you sit in a small no atmosphere white building with checkerboard tables and tell them how many inches thick and how you want it cooked. It's not seasoned it's not fancy it's not special. But it works. So much so that there's more going on outside than inside as people drink in the lot and wait to go in. Still don't understand why this works.

Best place in the state for steak. All rib eye steak they cut it at the table cook it in front of you and the service is out of this world.

$74 for a 16-oz steak, baked potato, and salad? Maybe if it was a super awesome steak! Unfortunately, it wasn't for a steak that had no flavor and a lot of fat, not the good tasty buttery kind but the stringy rubber nasty kind. Normally, I don't leave negative reviews, but I definitely feel ripped off when I could have gone to Sam's and feed a family of 4 with a much tastier product than I paid here. On a positive note, the salad was good.

Awful customer service. The staff member cutting the beef seemed really stressed and spoke aggressively to members of our table, cutting off individuals before they could finish speaking. In addition, underhanded comments were made to our party about a child at an adjacent table who was loud. Very disappointed that we drove 1.5 hours for this dining experience, to be greeted with poor customer service. Perhaps they were stressed and having a bad day, however a little kindness and consideration goes a long way in the food service industry. We will not be returning to this place!

Good steak crazy small inside get there early or else you'll be waiting by the cold beverage and corn hold are not the worst thing as you sit outside

The Beefmastor Inn is for the steak purist. No menus, no frills and no nonsense. You place your name on the list and wait outside in your car or better yet at your pre dinner tailgate. The restaurant itself is not as a big as minute but very clean. The guy comes outside and calls your name and then you are quickly seated. Drink orders are taken and then the fun starts. Another guy shows up with a large hunk of ribeye, a very sharp knife and some really great wit. He moves the knife until he arrives to the preferred thickness for each member of the party. He cuts the steaks and returns the cuts to who I assume is the Beefmaster at the grill because your steak will be cooked to absolute perfection. The steak was tender and had a great flavor. The dinner begins with a salad bar trip that has a nice selection. The steaks are served with a baked potato and slice of bread. Add the baked onion as a side. That is about the extent of the food offered at the Beefmastor Inn. You know what....who needs anything else when you going out for steak? I don't know when my family of five has had more fun at a restaurant. From the massive tailgate outside to the great humor / kind service on the inside. This is destination dining at its best. Don't go if you are in a hurry. Go with the state of mind that this is going to be a slow eastern NC evening of fellowship and great food.

The MASTOR restaurant of BEEF. This is a perfect Saturday night family outing spot. You show up and tailgate while you wait for your table in the "little house." When you are seated, they immediately get your drinks and cut of steak. Then you go to the dank salad bar for a yummy salad with FRESH bacon bits, eggs, tomatoes, shredded cheese, shredded carrots, etc. Then your entree comes out which includes a large baked potato, toast, and the shwaest ribeye you'll ever taste (you're not a real man if you can't finish the 16oz in one sitting). But the real reason this place is so amazing and able to run smoothly and efficiently is because the waiters and beefmaster work so hard and well together. We never had a half empty drink and were in and out in 35/40 minutes. I'm thoroughly impressed. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone:)

Drove 115 miles one way to eat at Beefmastor. It did not disappoint. The grill master asked how thick and what temperature we wanted our steaks. Then said when went get up to go to the salad bar he would put our steaks on the grill. Perfect timing!

We were craving salad and it was after 8:00 so our favorite salad take out spot in town (Western Sizzlin) had just closed. $60 for 3 take out salads later I was frustrated with myself and salad craving wasn't satisfied. No beef/steak ordered at the time of visit. Salad bar ingredients/toppings were nothing special just ordinary iceberg lettuce. Cheddar cheese did appear to be fresh grated and carrots as well. Croutons may have been premium as well as the bacon had seemed to be cooked by the establishment verse's prepackaged. Otherwise I would say the rest of the salad toppings were just ordinary or very budget friendly for the business. When I asked for the price/lb. for salad bar I was told salad bar was flat price not per pound price but wasn't told the price for a standard styrofoam 3 compartment takeout tray of salad. When I was told amount of ticket for my order I tried to refrain from showing my true feelings thru expression. I would have been just as satisfied with a McDonalds garden salad for alot less $$. Suggest maybe next time only getting 1 salad and try to split it 3 ways. Don't recommend this place to people on fixed or limited income.

I had heard about the simplicity and amazing level of beef quality about this place from friends and made a trip out to Wilson to try it. The seating arrangements are very cozy and I even sat at a picnic table with another couple. They get pretty busy so if you go at peak times expect to wait a bit. When I was there their menu is pretty straight forward, they bring out a ribeye and you tell them how think of a cut you want and they charge you by the oz. The salad bar is basic and they also offer a baked potato. The steaks are cooked out in the open on a flat top grill and mine was perfect. I cant wait to go back.

the food is good and the wait staff is really nice. it's very small and a bit of an uncomfortable atmosphere in my opinion because the tables are so close together. definitely a must try though. bring drinks to tailgate because you'll likely have to wait a bit to be seated

Arguably the best steak I've ever had. Cut at the table to our desired size. Cooked perfectly. Brought my wife here for our anniversary. She loved the atmosphere - small, intimate dining area with candlelight at each table. She loved the salad bar and all of the fresh options. All dressings were made in house. BIG chunks of blue cheese in the dressing! It is a tad pricier than the chain steakhouses, but worth the price and the drive.

Hands down the best steak there is !!! We've been going to Beefmastor for years. They've grown to be family. I love the atmosphere. Always a wait, but that's the fun part . We enjoy hanging out, waiting. The steaks are phenomenal! And we LOVE the salad bar ! If you haven't been, don't think twice about it. Just go ! You'll be happy you did.

They only serve ribeye steak but it is the best ribeye steak of eaten in North Carolina. True it's a limited menu but it's so good it's worth the drive from Raleigh. Don't let Looks be deceiving from the outside the food is great.

Looks like the inside of someone's garage. The cook wiped the sweat on his face with his bare hands then proceeded to handle food. And the price is absurd for Choice, not even Prime. Gimme a break.

Salad bar, baked potato, toast, and a perfectly cooked ribeye. What more could you possibly ask for? The Beefmastor is as perfect as it is simple. When you walk through the door you're greeted with a delectable aroma and a smile from the staff. The grill master brings an entire ribeye loin to your table and asks you how thick you take yours. Then you get to hit to salad bar that has loads of roping's reminiscent of the steakhouses in my youth while you wait for your perfectly cooked ribeye. No frills. Just an amazing steak and potato for the purist!

This is a Wilson institution. Small hole in the wall. Tailgate in parking lot while you wait with your own drinks or theirs. Cornhole if you want. Great steak. You won't be disappointed.

The salad bar was hella fresh, the baked potato was awesome but I was not impressed with the steak. The quality of the meat is good & it was cooked to my preference but it needs to be seasoned.

The last time I went was my wedding anniversary and we were ignored and they waited on and cooked for a large table of at least 8+ people they got their food before anyone even waited on us. ANNIVERSARY RUINED. No apology for the wait staff or management.

Nuts and bolts restaurant. No frills. No bells and whistles needed. Serious eaters only. One of the best steaks I've had in a long time. Go see for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

The only thing I can say is I'll be driving down from NY to come back to this place. my cousin brought me here when I came down to visit and I can't stop talking about it. We were lucky when we came because they had just opened for dinner and there were only a couple of people in there. When we left, the place was packed. See you guys in January!!!!!!

Don't know how I found this place, was headed North on 95 and booked an overnight at a hotel off the exit, got lost and stumbled into the Steakhouse. Very interesting place full of locals and all they serve is steak a "cook" pointed to a table and the adventure began. No menu "waiter" appears with Rib Eye on a board and a knife. We chose our cuts and he went to get our drinks and bring us salad bowls along with a bowl of steamed onions. Salad table was fresh, clean and an abundance of choice. The steaks arrived sizzling hot with a baked potato and a full bar of butter as well as sour cream. Overall the place is well worth the visit steak was superb, interesting locals surrounding you. A bit pricey especially the bottled beer at 7$. Staff was extremely pleasant and we enjoyed our adventure.

This is it the real deal. I regret writing this review. Only because it can be read all over the country the world and the universe. It's a gem no frills just MEAT to be specific Rib-Eye. In the south it's Rib-Eye in N.Y.C. New York City for you locals it's N.Y. strip or filet mignon. Sorry Vegans Just MEAT Baked Potato and Salad.When asked do you want onions with your steak Definitely say yes it's included with the steak, Yum Buttery. The Chef comes to your table with the proprietary whole primal cut Rib-Eye and with his magic sword suggests where to cut your steak Chef starts at 8Oz you can go anywhere up from there. Then the magic starts at the grill right in front across from salad bar. Did I say this place is small it's so small you wait in your car to be called. Well it's really a big tail-gate party you will see Chimineas going people playing corn-hole and of course drinking beer.

It may be a little pricey but the taste and quality of the food are well worth it my opinion. The steaks are cut right in front of you and grilled to perfection. You might half to wait a while, especially on the weekends because they are busy.
