The San Francisco Bay Area’s Most Anticipated Restaurant Openings, Spring 2024 - Eater SF
"After launching during the COVID-era shutdowns, pop-up business Bernal Bakery will move into a permanent location sometime this spring." - Lauren Saria
Astranda Bakery - Review - San Francisco - The Infatuation
"One thing you need to know about Astranda Bakery—they sell out of their coffee cinnamon rolls quickly. But do what you need to do to get your hands on one. Your jaw will drop at the sight of the fluffy, soft roll layered with brown sugar cinnamon paste and a sticky coffee-caramel sauce, all bathed in a smooth, drippy, coffee-flavored frosting we wish we could take shots of before we work out. Simply put, it’s a cinnamon roll done perfectly. Check Instagram for pop-up updates." - Julia Chen
Cute spot serving up great food. I've had their sourdough pizza before and it was great. This time around I had their apple cider donut. The donut is to die for. It's soft, moist, and perfectly sweetened. 10/10 recommend. The indoor space is small so I wouldn't plan on eating inside.

We got pizza and a loaf of the seeded sourdough bread and it was delicious! We loved the bread especially for avocado toast, it was super delicious! Kai went above and beyond and was extremely welcoming and warm, even though we came in just minutes before closing. She took her time, asked us if we wanted the pizza warmed up, and truly was so friendly we had to give a shout out!

What a great place for treats! It is so difficult to choose what you want so as usual the pastries get cut up and enjoyed in smaller portions!

INSANELY good! Wow. We were blown away by their croissants and bread, closest I’ve felt to eating high quality baked goods in Europe. Service is great and the owners are the sweetest. What a hidden gem, must try!

I've been here a few times and really want to love this place—it has a charming vibe and super friendly staff. But overall, the baked goods haven’t quite lived up to the high bar set by places like Arizmendi in the Mission.
Bread & Focaccia:
- The focaccia (tried twice) was on the dry side both times—I'd skip it.
- The baguettes and loaves (~$10) are good but not exceptional—at that price point.
Still Curious:
Haven’t tried the pizza yet, but have heard great things. That might be where they really shine—will update once I give it a shot!

My favorite bakery .. love it more than Acme & boudin. I discovered BERNAL BAKERY @bernal_bakery during the beginning & dark days of Covid & became addicted to their baguette 🥖. Love the nice crust & the width is the perfect size ! my weekly “must have “ & so far everything I’ve tried is fantastic!
🍞Sando Loaf - great for sandwiches & burgers 😃
🍩Apple Cinnamon Doughnut
🫓Spring Onion Danish
Also fantastic croissants, crumb cakes & scallion twirls ❤️

Delicious soft focaccia bread with cheese, vegetables, absolutely breathtaking, fabulous breads. Croissant pastries to travel for, we came from Santa Rosa to stop at the bakery. Outstanding welcoming team of bakers.

This place is the front store of Bernal Bakery. I tasted amazing sourdough/rye bread from Bernal Bakery but I heard that the shop is open sporadically so I didn't get a chance to go to the Bakery. However, the Basket is very accessible. I love all the pastries I got: chocolate chip cookie, mushroom crostock, and the chocolate hazelnut croissant. The bakery is on a bit pricier side but you can taste the quality! Definitely would love to come back for more!
