Inventive pub fare, bacon-wrapped tots, and trivia nights

"We don’t walk around with a pitch counter, but we’re pretty sure The Boardroom has more screens than any other bar in North Beach. They also have solid wings (get the honey garlic), and if you’re here for Monday Night Football, you can get them for 50 cents each. Instead of ye old sports paraphernalia, there are surfboards, skateboards, and slushy machines. This place feels more like a casual meet-up spot (boardroom, get it?) than a sports bar. You don’t actually need to like sports to have fun here." - lani conway, julia chen 1, patrick wong

"The Boardroom, now joined to the former location of Capp’s Corner, added more TVs, outdoor seating, a pool table, and a bigger menu of bar snacks, which still includes its signature bacon-wrapped tater tots. There’s even Tequila Trivia Tuesdays, which start at 7:30 p.m." - Dianne de Guzman

"In North Beach The Boardroom is listed among stalwart sports bars where I’d plan to watch the game with other fans." - Paolo Bicchieri

"Though this bar features a plethora of surfboards, it’s a classic North Beach corner to catch all kinds of sports. We’ve hyped this spot in the past, and for good reason. Whether it’s their Tequila Trivia Tuesdays or for the day in question, it’s tough to beat this corner hang." - Paolo Bicchieri

"In North Beach, I heard from owner Keith Wilson that even after a PPP loan and a $5,000 grant he’s struggling because fixed costs like rent, insurance, and wages won’t drop and operating costs may rise; his landlord still expects rent. He thinks to reopen the sports bar might require creative pivots such as using Shared Streets to expand into sidewalk space, hanging TVs outside, and installing gas heaters, or even converting to a private membership club with rules (masking, distancing, sign-ins) and a possible ~$20/month fee to manage safety and liability. Wilson also owns Tope Lounge—a packed nightclub that he believes likely won’t reopen under current conditions—and worries that any staff illness would permanently damage a bar’s reputation." - Shane Downing
