"In North Beach, I heard from owner Keith Wilson that even after a PPP loan and a $5,000 grant he’s struggling because fixed costs like rent, insurance, and wages won’t drop and operating costs may rise; his landlord still expects rent. He thinks to reopen the sports bar might require creative pivots such as using Shared Streets to expand into sidewalk space, hanging TVs outside, and installing gas heaters, or even converting to a private membership club with rules (masking, distancing, sign-ins) and a possible ~$20/month fee to manage safety and liability.
